Julianne Moore takes a calmer, more measured approach to health and fitness.

That means juice cleanses are out.

"I did a juice cleanse for the Golden Globes one year," the 53-year-old star told the Fall/Winter issue of New Beauty magazine. "I think ?I did it for three days. To ?be honest, the only weight? I lost was in my brain!"

Ditto for noisy workouts.

"I don't like noisy workouts. I tried spinning and didn't like it, it's just too loud for me," Moore told the magazine. "I do better when I am working out in quiet, which is why I like yoga. I also work out at my house, do interval running and lift light weights."

When it comes to yoga, Moore likes to focus on what's going on inside her body, not outside.

Why Julianne Moore Wants to Age as 'Naturally as Possible'

"I especially like classes that don't have mirrors," she said. "It's a time to let go and let your body drop into itself."

Other do's on Moore's list include staying hydrated.

"Everyone says it, but I drink a lot of water," the "Maps to the Stars" actress told New Beauty. "I also can really tell the next day when I eat too much sodium so I try to avoid it."

Acupuncture is Moore's other favorite holistic helper.

"It's wonderful for back and hip pain, and I really think it makes your skin look clearer," she said. "It sounds old-fashioned but I believe anything that you can do that helps you stand up straighter, makes you look much better. For me, that is acupuncture."
