Amanda Bynes returned to Twitter after a five-month hiatus to caution fans against believing everything they read about her.

"Don't believe anything the tabloids are saying about me. They dislike me for some odd reason & they continue to insult me everyday," she tweeted early Tuesday morning.

"Treat others how you want to be treated," she added. "The truth will set you free."

The "Easy A" actress appeared to be referring to a recent tabloid report in which she was quoted saying that she was engaged to a 19-year-old named Caleb.

True or not, Bynes, 28, recently arrived in New York from Los Angeles following her DUI arrest last month in California.

She explained the move on Twitter.

"I'm transferring to NYU or Columbia from FIDM to study psychology, so you'll see me in New York if you live here but I HATE stalkers!" she wrote.

Amanda Bynes Arrested on a DUI Charge

Bynes was previously studying at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. Until her recent DUI arrest, the actress appeared to be getting her life back on track after a troubling year.

In May 2013, she was arrested for allegedly throwing a bong out of her New York City apartment window, though the case was dismissed in June 2014. Later in 2013, she entered rehab after being detained for a mental evaluation when she was involved in a disturbance in Thousand Oaks, California.

Since then, she has kept mostly quiet on Twitter, posting a few pics, including one with her sister Jillian, and giving a brief update, such as one in March, when she tweeted, "Hi everyone! I'm busy studying at @FIDM but I want to say I love you to my fans! Xoxo Amanda."
