Fans will be seeing less than they may have hoped of actor Jamie Dornan, who stars in the much anticipated " Fifty Shades of Grey."

The Irish hunk revealed in a new interview that he did not do full-frontal nude scenes in the film based on the New York Times bestselling erotic novels by E.L. James.

"There were contracts in place that said that viewers wouldn't be seeing my, um … my todger," the 32-year-old model-turned actor told The Guardian's The Observer, using a British slang word for the male anatomy.

"You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out. You don't want to make something gratuitous, and ugly, and graphic," he said.

As for sex scenes in the final film, Dornan said, director Sam Taylor-Johnson "is a very bright woman, so there might be some suggestive elements to it, but I haven't seen it at this stage, so it is hard for me to say. I'm aware of what we shot, and it wasn't as if we shot a film without any action."

"Fifty Shades" is scheduled to hit the big screen February 2015, with Dornan opposite Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele to his Christian Grey.

"The Fall" actor said he hopes fans wait to see the film "before passing judgment."

Dornan's wife, Amelia Warner, was comfortable with his role in the film.

"She understands that it is work," because she was once an actor herself, Dornan said.

"I don't think we will be watching it together too many times at home, though," he added.
