Shipping Containers to Become Condos in Detroit

Early next year, Detroit will be the first U.S. city to feature a multi-family condo built from used shipping containers. About 25 million of these units, which link together like legos and measure 20×40 feet, pass through U.S. ports each year. It won't be the first time the containers have been recycled, the durable and portable crates have previously been used for student housing in Amsterdam, where they form the biggest container city in the world.
