Diana Nyad Quits Ocean Swimming Diana Nyad, the first swimmer to make the historic swim from Cuba to Florida, is hanging up her goggles. She confirmed today that she is officially retiring from ocean swimming. "That was the dream," she said. "You don't go backwards. It's like somebody climbs Mount Everest. What are they going to do after that?"
