Diana Nyad Quits Ocean Swimming Diana Nyad, the first swimmer to make the historic swim from Cuba to Florida, is hanging up her goggles. She confirmed today that she is officially retiring from ocean swimming. "That was the dream," she said. "You don't go backwards. It's like somebody climbs Mount Everest. What are they going to do after that?"

Britney Spears Music Used to Repel Pirates Britney Spears' music is apparently being used by British Navy security teams on the ocean to ward off pirates. Turns out, they dislike the western world so much that Spears' music repels them. As one naval officer put it, one blast of a Spears song is all it takes to send the pirates packing.
