‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Sequel in the Works
Mrs. Doubtfire is coming back for more gender-bending hilarity. A sequel to the 1993 hit “Mrs. Doubtfire” is in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Elf” writer David Berenbaum is writing the script, while Robin Williams and director Chris Columbus are also attached to the project. Fox 2000 is bringing the sequel to the silver screen. The original film starred Williams as a recently divorced father of three who, in order to get closer to his children, develops the persona of a Scottish nanny. The movie grossed $441 million worldwide, and Williams and the movie earned Golden Globes. According to THR, the sequel has been in the works since 2001, with Bonnie Hunt tapped to write the script at one point.

Formerly Conjoined Twins Leave Dallas Hospital
Jenni Ezell, the mother of conjoined twins who will be released from Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas today, said the family feels “relief, joy and elation.” The Ezell twins, Owen and Emmitt, were born joined from their breastbone to their hipbones, sharing several organs, including their liver and intestines. Doctors told the Ezells their babies would probably not survive for very long. If they did, it was likely they would undergo multiple painful medical procedures. Now 9 months old, the baby boys are doing great, Ezell said. So great in fact they’ll being sent to a rehab facility in Dallas for several weeks to several months before finally going home to spend time with their two older brothers, 2-year-old Liam and 7-year-old Ethan. The twins were successfully separated six weeks after their birth in August. During the nine-hour surgery, a team of surgeons separated the liver and intestines, with the most difficult part being the separation of a shared blood vessel in the liver.

Miss the ‘Blood Moon?’ Here’s Your Next Chance
If you were asleep when the “blood moon” graced the sky early today, you’re in luck. The moon will glow red three more times in the next 18 months, scientists say. It’s all part of a lunar eclipse “tetrad”: a series of four consecutive total lunar eclipses that happen at about six-month intervals. The next one is due Oct. 8, followed by blood moons April 4, 2015, and Sept. 28, 2015, according to NASA. There will be a total lunar eclipse on those dates, when the moon passes into the Earth’s shadow, and the moon will begin to appear bright orange or red because of the way sunlight bends through the Earth’s atmosphere. The sunset hue lasts up to an hour.

Michael Phelps to Compete in Arizona
Michael Phelps is coming out of retirement to compete next week in Arizona. The move is sparking speculation that Phelps is putting his toe in the water to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero.

Don’t Miss Rare ‘Blood Moon’ Lunar Eclipse
Turn your gaze to the stars tonight for an eerie and spectacular view of the “blood moon.” At 12:53 a.m. ET, the Earth will begin to position itself between the sun and the moon for the first of a series of four total eclipses to conclude in September 2015. The phenomenon is known as a tetrad, in which the moon is completely covered by the earth’s umbral shadow for four eclipses in a row, as opposed to only partial eclipses that fall in the outer penumbra. But rather than succumbing to complete darkness, the moon will glow red as it receives the refracted light that spills over the Earth’s circumference. The series is a rare occurrence in history, with large spans of time, such as the 300 years between 1600 and 1900, witnessing none. But the 21st century will be more promising, according to Fred Espenak, who works for NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and specializes in eclipse predictions.

Stay-at-Home Moms on the Rise
The number of stay-at-home moms is on the rise. Three out of 10 US moms do not hold a job outside the home. That’s 29 percent, up from 23 percent in 1999. Asian and Hispanic families were the most likely to have a mom who stays home and a growing number of them said they’re staying home because they’re struggling to find a job since the recession.

Life on Mars? How Else to Explain This Mars Rover Picture?
Could it be a Martian’s campfire? A UFO? A rival planet’s rover cooking along on the horizon with sterno? What appear as glints of light on new photos from NASA’s Mars Curiosity rover probably are just a reflection, a glare on a lens or a technical error, but that hasn’t stopped speculation about just what whatever-it-is is. “This could indicate there is intelligent life below the ground and uses light as we do,” read a post on ufosightingsdaily.com. “There is not a glare from the sun, nor is it an artifact of the photo process.” Justin Maki, an imaging scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA’s lead center for robotic exploration of the Solar System in Pasadena, Calif., told ABC News that the bright spots appear to be single images taken by the rover’s Navigation Camera on NASA’s Curiosity rover. “In the two right-eye images [on the rover] the spot is in different locations of the image frame and, in both cases, at the ground-surface level in front of a crater rim on the horizon,” Maki said. “One possibility is that the light is the glint from a rock surface reflecting the sun,” he said.

America’s Fattest and Fittest Cities Revealed
New research has revealed national obesity rates are at an all-time high, with Huntington-Ashland, W.Va., identified as the country’s fattest city and Boulder, Colo., labelled America’s thinnest. The study, conducted by Gallup and Healthways between January 2012 and December 2013, found that more than 15 percent of adults are obese in all but one of the 189 cities surveyed. It also found that last year, the national obesity rate increased to 27.1 percent, which is the highest on record since the annual surveys began in 2008. The surveys were conducted for the annual Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, which tracks obesity levels across the country using Americans’ Body Mass Index (BMI) scores. The indexes are calculated based on a person’s self-reported height and weight radio, with scores of 30 or above considered obese. At least 300 adults participated in each of the metropolitan areas surveyed. The sample sizes for each city varied and were weighted depending on the “demographic characteristics” of that area. Out of the 10 most obese cities in the country, Huntington-Ashland topped the list, with nearly two in five residents being obese. The city has consistently scored high among the 10 most obese cities in the country since 2008. See the full lists here.

Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., sat down at what he thought was an appropriations hearing on the defense budget and started reading a letter from the Indiana congressional delegation to leaders at the Pentagon. Then the embarrassing moment came. “I just got a note saying I’m at the wrong hearing,” Coats said. “I’ve got the right room number but the wrong hearing.” Coats was actually at a different appropriations hearing on Wednesday — one for the Treasury Department’s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence’s upcoming budget. “Well that would explain why I didn’t know about this letter,” David Cohen, undersecretary of treasury for terrorism and financial intelligence, who was one of the witnesses, said to laughter. Coats said the incident, which was first spotted by the Washington Post, was the first time he attended the wrong hearing.
