Italian Valentine

ABC News correspondent John Berman blogs from Turin, Italy as he covers the 2006 Winter Olympics.Happy Valentine’s Day from Italy. I spent much of the day asking Olympic athletes how they were celebrating, and ended up working on a piece for Nightline about how some athletes abstain from sex during competition. It is a very important story. OK, maybe not. But you haven’t lived until you ask Olympic athletes about their bedroom habits. For the record, speedskater Chad Hedrick abstains, while snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler doesn’t see the point. Changing the subject before I blush, Bode Miller had another bad day. I don’t want to spoil your evening viewing, but he straddled a gate, and was disqualified from the Alpine combined event. Former Gold Medalist Picabo Street was in the bureau and called it a rookie mistake, but also said it happens a lot in that sport. Tough for Bode, and NBC. So far it is safe to say the hype has not matched the performance. I don’t blame him a much as the people behind all the hype. [READ MORE]
