Yes, this does happen. No it shouldn't. But as a soldier you do what you're told; regardless of your personal opinion. That is how discipline is maintain. Oppose this rule and one is harshly reprimanded. Regrettably many prisoners who suffered may actually be innocent...many are not. But I implore you that whether right or wrong, it is not the common soldier that authorizes harsh interrogations, these orders and methods are explicitly directed by the commanding officers and thier commanding officers. So forgive me and other "fighting force" level soldiers...we were only doing our jobs and what we were told.

It is truly amazing that there are people who will condone torture and murder in this thread.
Our soldiers killed an entire family after raping and murdering the 12-year old girl of that family - in Iraq.
Yeah, that'll make'em love us and make'em treat our soldiers with the respect they are due.
I can't wait for one of the Bush sycophants to come on here to tell me that she probably deserved it, and that her father and brothers want to kill us.
Iraq had NOTHING whatsoever to do with 911.

Forget the Geneva Convention look past what the bad guys are doing to our soldiers. Look more closely look at what 9-11, the war on terror, etc. have done to us. Are we so weak and fearful that we will sell out on our basic beliefs in human rights and basic liberties so that we can cower safely in our homes. The same basic rights that our soldiers have been giving their lives to defend and protect for over two hundred years.
I spent almost fifteen years on active military duty. I have no love of war, but as the saying goes, if one wants peace then prepare for war. If I felt that our country was under threat I would be the first one to sign up to protect. But, from where I sit the greatest threat to our country is the attacks on our basic moral fibre by those who claim to be so moral. I fear the greatest threat to our country is internal. A population that cares so little that we can't even get a majority of the population out for elections. That is more worried about what our neighbors are doing in their homes than we are the poverty in our streets, That allows itself to be lead by fear rather than courage. Is soon destined to collapse in upon itself.

It kind of makes me wonder what we are fighting for. We are supposedly trying to make these other nations a better place to live. But if this abuse be considered a standard life style, I don't want it.

Let's not forget that we are not fighting an army of sovereign nation...we are fighting people who'll kill your children and then film the body with them in joyous celebration. These aren't choir boys that are being detained and questioned.
I do not think that hamstringing those whose job it is to extract vital information for use in defending our young people and our interests is an intelligent move. We are not using kid gloves...nor should we be expected to.

It is truly sad that some people in this country don't even have the basic thinking skills needed to reason this out.
We are at WAR. Period. Those at Gitmo and other places are the enemy and are NOT covered by the Geneva Convention....get it out and read it.
The fact that we let them practice their faith and eat meals in accordance with their religion is an amazing "gift".
People today have no idea what torture is....to many it's anything that involves the slightest deviation from comfort.
Sleep deprivation and wearing women's panties on your head is NOT torture.
Torture would be getting your fingers broken one at a time, or being skinned alive, or eyes put out with a hot poker, or a thousand other little nasty things that can be done.
On the whole prisnors are treated with incredible regard.......there has been NO conflict that America has been involved with where our military was not abused above and beyond the Geneva Convention and in some cases by signers of that document.
You "Peace Activists" need to wake up and smell the coffee. These people want you DEAD. And it has nothing to do with the American governemnt....these guys believe you are the devil...you personally. Everything you do is against what they beleive....how many of you peace guys/gals watch TV......most I bet. Well, these muslims killed several people just for watching the World Cup. TV is a bad thing.
How about that beer you have once in awhile......want to loose a hand for it?
How many of you all are gay.....got nothing against it myself but in the middle east you would be DEAD...on the spot.
This is just the tip of the iceberg....just the day to day stuff they don't like....if you really want to hit hot spots lets talk about the lifestyle of the Hollywood types...drug use...multiple marriages...excessive wealth...all of which they hate and see as sin.
Why Las Vegas hasn't been a target is beyond me since it is the height of everything they hate about us.
They want the world to be a 15th century muslim world....period. The only way to change that is to wipe them off the face of the planet. No need to be nice about it either.
The video of the WTC being attacked needs to be played eveyday on TV so people remember what we are up against.

How can anyone believe this story? How can anyone make derogatory statements against our troops and president based upon one person's fabricated story? This story is missing any semblance of truth, yet people rush in to comdemn our troops and president. I can't believe how eager people are to bash Americans.
