CIA: 5,000 Terrorists Captured or Killed
More than 5,000 terrorists have been captured or killed in the five years since the 9/ll attacks, CIA director Gen. Michael Hayden said today. Hayden’s remarks were made in a videotape statement distributed to CIA employees around the world. Hayden called the 9/ll attacks "an unforgettable blow" from a "plot we had not been able to prevent." Since then, he said, "Al-Qa’ida’s core operational leadership has been decimated, and their
successors are in hiding or on the run." Hayden paid tribute to four CIA employees killed in Afghanistan: Mike Spann, Helge Boes, Chris Mueller and William Carlson. Veteran CIA officers continue to praise the leadership of Gen. Hayden, who took over earlier this year from Porter Goss. As part of his effort to highlight CIA accomplishments, his videotape statement was distributed to reporters. Read Gen. Hayden’s full message to CIA employees. Vote on whether the CIA is doing a good job in the war on terror.

That’s 5,000 down and 15,000 to go.
The Clinton admin sat idly by for seven years after the first WTC attack and knowingly watched as Al Qaeda trained over 20,000 fanatical jihadists in explosives making and terrorism tactics. Now know we’re having to deal with these scum scattered all around the world.
I’m glad we finally have someone in office with the determination and the will to see to it that we track them down, draw them out, and kill them wherever they may be, regardless of opinion polls, or constantly wringing his hands together worrying about his “legacy” as our previous president did.
MANY HEARTFELT AND GRATEFUL THANKS TO ALL OF YOU OUT THEIR THAT ARE FIGHTING THIS WAR AND KEEPING US SAFE HERE AT HOME!

At least Presdident Bush IS doing something to fight the islamofascists. Clinton was too busy unzipping his pants and lying to his wife and the public to worry about beasts like Bin- laden. Thanks to Clinton we had 9-11.

A bureaucrat from New Mexico just told me that he believes that President Bush co-conspired with bin Laden to bring down the towers. When I pointed out that bin Laden was responsible for numerous attacks during the Clinton administration he stated that Clinton was also a co-conspirator.
There is no hope for America. Not only do we have to fight the terrorists, but also the utter stupidity of our own people.

I wouldn’t crow too loudly folks. Based on history, both distant & recent, DOD/CIA body counts comprise mostly farmers, villagers, schoolkids that happen to be around when a Predator is looking to dump its ordance. 5000 real, boan-fide, card carrying terrorists, highly unlikely.

So that means we are about dead even then…considering we lost an estimated 2973 on 9/11 itself and the death toll in “the war on terror” is slightly higher than 2000. But i dont think we can count the number of terrorist killed or captured in Iraq, considering iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and the only reason we are even still there is because of the civil war that is inevitably going to errupt

Going out there, protecting us, stopping bad guys, in it’s golden perfect form there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s the “At All Costs” part of the operations that are the problem. 5000?! That’s it? The civilian body count of our war on whatever-the-branding-says-this-week is conservatively at 150,000, and our military/agent deathtoll is creeping closer and closer to 3000.
So militarily we don’t even have a 2-to-1 ratio for them to us. And as far as “surgical” goes, we’re destroying 20+ innocent lives for every 1 we kill or capture.
hardly what I’d call “winning”, and hardly what I’d call “surgical”.

And let us not forget the 2600+ soldiers whom we put forth to be slaughtered “over there” in Iraq so that we wouldn’t be slaughtered over here, or so the story goes. The ratio of only 2 terrorists killed or captured for each American soldier killed in Iraq and Afghanistan is very, very sad.

FINALLY a tally of the bad guys killed. Every day we get a count of US dead in the war on terror and in Iraq, but we rarely get updates on enemy killed. This is something we stopped doing after vietnam. I wonder if this is because the hippies who hated the US back then couldn’t stomach a 15-1 kill ratio. I am sure, if you include the enemy killed in Iraq is much higher than 15-1. How long could the Anti-America and France First crowd in this country survive if all of this good news was reported on a daily basis? NO

I don’t understand why we have to be so political about everthing we do. We are all Americans striving for freedom and peace and security. Why do we have to fight among ourselves when we are all in this together? I’m proud to be an American, but not proud how we treat one another. 2. NEWSWEEK: In the Months Before 9/11, Justice Department Curtailed Highly Classified Program to Monitor Al Qaeda Suspects in the U.S.
Sunday March 21, 10:51 am ET
‘They Came in There With Their Agenda and [Al Qaeda] was not on it,’ Says Former Counterterrorism Chief Clarke of Bush Administration
NEW YORK, March 21 PRNewswire — Newsweek has learned that in the months before 9/11, the U.S. Justice Department curtailed a highly classified program called “Catcher’s Mitt” to monitor Al Qaeda suspects in the United States, after a federal judge severely chastised the FBI for improperly seeking permission to wiretap terrorists. During the Bush administration’s first few months in office, Attorney General John Ashcroft downgraded terrorism as a priority, choosing to place more emphasis on drug trafficking and gun violence, report Investigative Correspondent Michael Isikoff and Assistant Managing Editor Evan Thomas in the March 29 issue of Newsweek (on newsstands Monday, March 22).
Richard Clarke, former counterterrorism chief of the national-security staff, tells Newsweek that at an April 2001 top-level meeting to discuss terrorism, his effort to focus on Al Qaeda was rebuffed by Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz. According to Clarke, Wolfowitz said, “Who cares about a little terrorist in Afghanistan?” The real threat, Wolfowitz insisted, was state-sponsored terrorism orchestrated by Saddam Hussein.
In the meeting, says Clarke, Wolfowitz cited the writings of Laurie Mylroie, a controversial academic who had written a book advancing an elaborate conspiracy theory that Saddam was behind the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Clarke says he tried to refute Wolfowitz. “We’ve investigated that five ways to Friday, and nobody [in the government] believes that,” Clarke recalls saying. “It was Al Qaeda. It wasn’t Saddam.” A spokesman for Wolfowitz describes Clarke’s account as a “fabrication.” Wolfowitz always regarded Al Qaeda as “a major threat,” says this official.
Clarke tells Newsweek that the day after 9/11, President Bush wanted the FBI and CIA to hunt for any evidence that pointed to Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein. Clarke recalls that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was also looking for a justification to bomb Iraq. Soon after the 9/11 attacks, Rumsfeld was arguing at a cabinet meeting that Afghanistan, home of Osama bin Laden’s terrorist camps, did not offer “enough good targets.” “We should do Iraq,” Rumsfeld urged.

Lemmesee, now. They claim they killed a new #2 of Al qaeda. It has been recorded that 14 “#2′s” have been killed. So on that multiplication, that means if 5000 supposed terrorists were killed, divided by 14 that really means 357. How many of those actually blew themselves up, so CIA really didn’t kill them, they killed themselves. And if Bushboy were so aggressively hunting OBL down, why did he say, He’s not concerned about him, or, he doesn’t think about him that much. Golly, that’s aggressively pursuing him? And why did they dismantle the OBL unit? Bush is too busy taking faceplants on his mt bike to worry about terrurizzm.

I wonder what criterion the CIA uses to label someone a “terrorist”? Any Iraqi citizen that is killed? Only insurgents? I’d like to hear some qualifications for this statement. “Terrorist” is an awfully broad linguistic stroke and there’s no way to fact-check this number.

mike obrien, that is not true. No one went after al Qaeda like Clinton. The Republicans in Congress jumped up and down screaming, “Wag the dog,” and “No war for Monica.” Clinton went to the Congress practically begging them to give him more leway in wiretapping suspected terrorists. The Republicans said, NO.
Reagan armed and trained the Taliban AND Saddam Hussein.
Every time Clinton took military action, the Republican morons made a huge stink saying he was wasting the military.
He told the Bush administration that al Qaeda was the biggest threat to the United States and the world. Like Global Warming, the Republicans could care less and look what happened. The same with Iran, when they took all the money out of defense for that and into Iraq, day one as they took office.
This CIA report is pretty ridiculous. Were these people tried and convicted? If you’re talking about people they just killed, that could be anyone.
Posted by: Al | September 11, 2006, 3:13 pm 3:13 pm
Body counts don’t mean squat. There’ll always be another kid with an AK. The “This is War!” attitude is understandable, but it just digs us in deeper. Don’t forget the same CIA that fights Al Qaeda now is the one that supported these wackos against the Soviets. Why did Carter and Reagan fund terrorists then? Because the “This is War” approach was in effect then too. Fighting hard is noble but not being smart about it is criminal.
This IS a war, but it’s a war of ideologies, and it’s one we’re losing. We may be knocking heads in Iraq, but all around the world, from the Middle East to South America to western Europe, politicians of every religion win by running anti-US campaigns. The world knows that terrorists are so despicable that they love killing innocents, and still the world somehow looks at us like we’re the bad guy. I know the “This is War” guys out there don’t care what others think, but it does matter: as long as the ground is fertile for anti-US sentiment, terrorism will always be a threat.
As for giving intelligence agencies more power, that’s fine, but do it the American Way — go to Congress, get a law passed, and accept that because this is the USA, the courts get to check it. Also, trials mean evidence and right to an attorney. Doesn’t matter if it’s inconvenient. It’s who we are.
The WORST thing about our President is that he treats the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the legislative process like luxuries to be ignored when inconvenient. (Let’s not forget that those great principles were established in another wartime, when this country was also under extreme threat.) That makes him disturbingly like the Saddams/Amins/Castros of the world, and it’s more dangerous to all of us than any terrorist ever will be.

I like the sound of it…5,000 of them dead or in our custody. This is a good thing. I am a little sceptical that this number is released TODAY, September 11th. Politicizing this milestone some how sucks the fun out of it. An otherwise festive occasion is tainted by common, everyday, politics.

Terrrrific! Now every September 11th, I have to listen to all the “political crap” on both sides, when in truth, 3,000 innocent people died on that day 5 years ago — 911. It really hurts to see such! Perhaps, we should honor those who have fallen by sending a message to ourselves, that we are all guilty of what we do and don’t do … because our political leanings are filled with blame … and simply a sad reflection of ourselves, that even our response to hatred in the world on this day should be aimed at only realizing that you, me and anyone could have been in those buildings 5 years ago. We should realize that for those who died, are now looking upon us from Heaven … wondering, how truly unjust it was for them and their families — and our own disrespect.

Taking 5000 terrorists out of commission is all well and good. But the vast, self-loathing majority of Americans don’t recognize the value of that accomplishment. Instead, they simply fall hook-line-and-sinker for the Michael Moore-Ted Kennedy propaganda that Bush is the “real” terrorist because some civilians inevitably die in a war — totally ignoring the fact the US is waging a war of self-defense against terrorists in order to save the lives of innocent civilian victims of Islamist terror. It’s a high-point in US history of self-defense but a seriously low-point in American education and clear thinking.

It is nice to have an active head of the CIA, instead of just a ‘figure’ head. We all know Clinton was pre-occupied – to say the least – with his actions on the side. Even if he really wanted full-scale action against bin laden, he very well couldnt do it, simply because of how it would appear. The lobbing of missiles from the ocean were bad enough, and thought of as a diversion. But, he put himself in that position, and that is why we should all remain upset at that presidency for. Not to mention, an all-out retaliation for the original WTC attacks, and the USS Cole never happened! Our people were killed, yet we did not go on an offensive. That makes no sense. Oh, and Scott, what is ‘festive’ about this day man???? It’s not the 4th of July bro, its a SAD DAY.

I can really tell which comments are from the liberal left. All I can tell you is if the liberal democrats win the next presidential election, we will all be converting to Islam within 10 years. You people are fools. What is it going to take for you to realize we have to destroy these people before they destroy us. Will it take 10,0000 of Americans dead? Maybe 100,000. The anit-war era of Vietnam is gone. Get over it and realize our country will be destroyed unless we destroy them first.

The difference between Clinton admin. unforgivable negligence, and Bush admin. terminating aggression upon the enemy…is merely the difference between an admin. run by timid lawyers and one run by men & women willing to follow through on unpopular decisions that serve the country’s security interests – perferrable, even despite the associated bungling on many other issues (at least we still have a country in which to make domestic political mistakes – something the Democrats should truly grow to appreciate).

For those that think this war is making us safe, let me ask you this!
Are our borders being protected more? Is the cargo entering the US or boarding plans being screened?
This war is nothing but a farce! The REAL terrorists are in the WH.
They LET 9/11 happen! They had 11 + countries warn Bush, and in many cases had specific (detailed) information.
Bush did nothing.
For those that say Clinton did nothing! Clinton captured and tried those involved in the 1993 WTC attacks. He tried going after OBL, but was prevented by Congress. The same Congress who from day one was trying to attack him.
Where are the people responsible for 9/11 on trial???? This was one big joke on the American people by our government. They wanted these wars and the only way to get them was to LET 9/11 happen. They even made sure it would by throwing the military in so many war games that it was going to fail to respond.
The Secret Service knew at 7AM, and yet Bush was allowed to sit there for 20 minutes while “were under attack” and he was not rushed to a safe house.
Think people….. What does a terrorist want to do! Do they want more or less body counts? Does the government want more or less body counts?
Why didnt the hijackers take later flights that would ensure 10′s of thousands of people killed rather than just 3,000?
9/11 mirrors Operation Northwoods!

It’s pathetic to read these comments from the Clinton apologists. First Al, the Taliban came into existence under Clinton in 1993. He let them take over Afghanistan and set up shop with AlQuaeda. It was his retreat from Somalia that encouraged OBL and his supporters. It was his admin that blew several chances to kill him before 9/11. His DOJ forbade contacts between the FBI and CIA. His admin that slashed funds for the intel community (I know, many of my friends were laid off in the Clinton years as budgets dried up). Remember the ‘peace dividend’ ? That came from slashing the defense and intel budgets. Now we find we need those resources and they are not available. Thanks to Clinton.

If you have such strong feelings. Why don’t you run for office and fix it? It’s all hot air unless you do something about it!

5000 KIA. Good job, keep it up. But here’s something to think about: How long would Nazi Germany and Japan have fought on if ONLY precision guided bombs would have been used, with relatively few civilian casualties? 6 months? 3 years? Forever? You not only have to kill the soldiers(terrorists, in today’s war), you have to destroy the will to fight in the populace that supports the same agenda.

No matter how the left-wingers say, I for one am very glad that the 5000 would-be terrorists are out of circulation. What this means is that these people won’t be around to kill more Americans in our own soil. By keeping the fighting outside of American soil, the CIA and other covert missions are risking their lives to keep all of us talking (even the complainers who take advantage of the freedoms that our government gives us). Just imagine OUR country run by religious fanatics who promote fear -of-death if you talk badly about THEM! It will end up that way if we let our freedoms go out of control! They take advantage of this, just as too much left-wingers do.
Kudos to you who risk your lives out there to protect us!

There are too many of them to capture them all. We need to strike Iran and blow a hole in the mothership of terrorism. If we worry about collateral damage there we risk more collateral damage here. If it’s them or us who survive…let it be us for civilization’s sake.

They don’t hate us because of the freedom we used to have. They hate because we supported people like the Shah of Iran — and the Saudi Royal family.
And don’t forget, the 9-11 attack on the U.S. was a Saudi led — and financed — operation.

This is pathetic. All you liberals and dems can do is complain about Bush. Let’s assume for a minute that Bush was told before 9/11 that an attack was coming and he made a preemptive strike. How many of you would be moaning about how he killed innocent people that had done nothing wrong. Mind you, this information leading to the preempitve strike would have come from the same sources whose information he is now acting on. Case in point, the recent arrests by the Brits that foiled airline bombings. People immediately started protesting. What the Hell!! So here Bush has gone from taking care of most of those responsible for 9/11 (he hasn’t got them all, but they are still working on it) to preemptively attacking those who would plan attacks and you say he is a terorist. Make up your damn minds. The bottom line is you don’t like Bush and all you people are looking for is someway to complain about him. Here we have a president who is willing to stand by his beliefs and push through a difficult situation regardless of what people think of him. These are the same qualities that has allowed every other president who has gotten through a difficult time to accomplish the mission. I say that thee are now 5,000 less to train any new recruites or blow up a market place full of civillians. God bless our public servants.

We started the war against Al Queda on the right foot to fighting the Taliban and Al Queda in Afghanistan. But then Bush/Cheney and their energy-backed cohorts blew it out their rear end when they architected the Iraq war and every company linked to it.
Americans all know now the real reason Bush sent troops to Iraq…for more oil contracts. The entire energy sector was behind it and it amounts to the highest level of corruption in US history.
Let the indictments and incarcerations in US prison continue.

If there were only a way to build a credible, non-partison, fact-based, accessible, available on-demand, free information base of significant world events detailing the undisputed chronology of such events/facts, we would all have an easier time conversing / debating with the general uninformed population.
Today’s outlets of half-truths, agenda-based, self-serving reporting that exploits societies inability to cull through the noise and grasp and retain the quality information is much to frustrating a means to achieve the aquisition of obtaining news.

We are going in the right direction. But the end is not in sight. As long as we have Americans releasing the methods we use to track down and stop terrorists we can never be safe.
OVerall there have been over 5000 Terrorist attacks since 9/11. They are happening all over the world. Many attacks are being stopped yet some of them continue to get through. We only see their successes not their failures.
In terms of civilians killed that number is the number of civilians killed directly by terrorists and you blame America for their deaths. THe fact is that American soldiers have their hands tied so that very few civilians get killed directly by US troops. BUt when terrorists hide behind women and Children yes there are going to be innocent people killed. But that is what the terrorists want. If the AMericans dont kill them they will do it and blame American Soldiers IT is all propaganda. The total dead will always be blamed on Americans. The li

If we’ve killed or captured 5,000 terrorists, and in the last 5 years we’ve killed about 200,000 people in Iraq and Afghanistan, what about the other 195,000 people? Who are they? Today, we remember 3000 Americans who were killed. Who remembers the 195,000 non-terrorists? Assuming that each of them had an average of 5 family and friends, that’s 1,000,000 people who now have a personal interest in fighting against America. 1,000,000 potential terrorists we’ve created in the process of getting rid of 5,000. Nice.

Do these liberals have brains? They whine about “innocents” killed by US military and CIA forces. In most every instance I would bet the so called innocents are relatives or at minimum supporters of the terrorists killed. Think! When we bomb a compound holding terrorists the non combatants around the terrorists aren’t “innocent”. On the other hand, when terroists set off a road side bomb or suicide bomb, innocents are killed and in fact, more muslims are killed by far by the terrorist attacks than our forces are killing.

It’s disconcerting, no I take that back, it’s sickening to see the way people take shots at each other about this. Both sides blame each other, rather than the people responsible – the terrorists.
2 questions:
We’ve killed 5,000; how many more need to be killed?
What will determine a “win” for the United States on the war on terrorism?
It seems to me that these are impossible questions to answer and that the current course the US is in will never conclude anything. Is this going to be like the “War on Drugs”? Maybe if people could use some of this energy they have to bash each other towards some solutions, we’d be much better off.

“Good job Bush! Every corner of the world is now a terrorist training ground”
So I guess you subscribe to the belief that every terrorist we kill only creates more?
That’s nonsense. It’s NOT killing them that creates more. It enboldens them. Even OBL said it was when the US didn’t retaliate for the killing of our Marines in Somalia, that he then realized that the US was a “paper target” and could be defeated. Clinton should have gone back in and leveled the place, but didn’t. The Marines were seeing red and ready to kill and destroy everything that moved in that town, but Clinton wouldn’t let them.
Good Job, Clinton! You helped OBL recruit thousands of terrorists.

The best way to rid the world of 5,000 terrorists is to lock up the CIA. This collection of private-presidential mercenaries and whack jobs is something this country and well do without. The FBI, without presidential inteference, does a better and more professional job.

To the guy who blamed Clinton’s inaction against al-Qaeda for 9/11: The first and only public action against al-Qaeda (missile strikes in Afghanistan) led to allegations of “wagging the dog.” His hands were tied. I am a leftist who supports reasonable military action, and I have to say that non even Bush could have anticipated the sheer scale of 9/11. The world is a different place now, and it is partisan hackery to place the majority of blame for 9/11 on the shoulder’s of any one man.

I am so tired of the accusations from both sides about who was at fault. All I know is for my grand childrens sake,we need to be on the offence not defence. These fanatics have been killing people that do not agree with them for 2000 years. I feel safer going after them then wasting billions on trying to figure how to check every container or close off every inch of border. These fanatics are not stupid. If we close the borders and check all the cargo coming in, they will try something else. I am sure it is part of there plan to see us waste billions trying to defend against every possiblity. They do not want us to pull out of Iraq, they do not want us to leave the the middle east. They want everyone that doesn’t think the way they do dead. We need to get our heads out of our orifaces and stay on the offence.

ON THIS 9/11 ANNNIVERSARY, WE ARE STILL IN THE “OFFICIAL” DARK ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST CONNECTION TO THE OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING.. Local OKC reporter reported on half a dozen Iraqi Republican Guard in OKC for months prior to OKC Bombing, and links to McVeigh and Nichols, and many other links, including to Ramzi Yousef (Terry Nichols getting bomb training in Philipines, by Abu Sayef, etc.) and failure of FBI to follow up on these leads. If indeed there was Iraqi involvement to the OKC bombing, we should have gone to war with Iraq years earlier…. (Reference: “The Third Terrorist: The Middle East Connection to the Oklahoma City Bombing,” by Jayna Davis…) How about an offical statement from current CIA and FBI folks on this matter?

while this is good, i am a little confused. is this just al-qaeda in afghanistan or in iraq as well? if it is in both countries then this isnt good news. from all the accounts from iraq i have read i was under the impression that the death-kill ratio was closer to 20-1. if it is truly only 5,000 that means that there are still more American dead than al-qaeda. but this may not include the other organizations we have been fighting.

Educated people that have a enough common sense to realize that this mess has been going since GHWB and I dont know about you but I enjoyed having a good paying job during the Clinton Admin. and paying gas at 1.10 a gallon. A common theme to many is that it was obvious that Osama was a threat that needed to be dealt with but Clinton failed to act. But the individuals espousing this position give Bush a complete pass for sitting on his hands for 8 months (10 if you count from the election) while Osama completed final arrangements. Let’s see – one month after 9/11 we were in Afghanistan. 2 weeks after that we were in complete control and had Osama on the run for his life. No planning going on just running. If W gives the order the 3rd week in January, by mid-March Al-Qaeda is toast and no 9/11.

It’s funny how when any sort of community based opinon opportunity is around like the Internet, you can see the Normals come out of the woodwork, and the shocked confused faces of liberals like “Whoa, where did all these Right Wing nutjob reactionaries come from??”.. proves how dominating the left is in all the newspapers, movies from LA & tv from New York. “Are we fighting a war on terror or aren’t we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?
Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation’s capitol, and in a field in Pennsylvania?
Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn’t they?
And I’m supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was “desecrated” when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don’t. I don’t care at all.
I’ll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.
I’ll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia.
I’ll care when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi tells the world he is sorry for hacking off Nick Berg’s head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.
I’ll care when the cowardly so-called “insurgents” in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.
I’ll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.
I’ll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead o f the United States Constitution’s Bill of Rights.
In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don’t care.
When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured that I don’t care.
When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank that I don’t care.
When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed “special” food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being “mishandled,” you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts that I don’t care.
And oh, by the way, I’ve noticed that sometimes it’s spelled “Koran” and other times “Quran.” Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and —- you guessed it – - I don’t care ! ! ! ! !

We seldom learn about the successes of the CIA and FBI, then wonder why there is so much backbiting. We only learn of the failures (and there have been several).
Good for Hayden to heap praise where it is due. Positive comments encourage the right behavior from those willing to put their rears on the line for all Americans.

No matter how much the right wing blowhards try to spin it, there is one FACT that will not change, and history will record:
9/11 happened on George Bush’s watch,
while he sat on his backside reading “My Pet Goat.”
So, what is GWB doing to remember 9/11?
How about checking out Matt Lauer’s abs?
Perfect.

Something is very fishy with the Royal Saudi Arabia family and this Administration … because if we didn’t need their damn oil, a real cowboy would have found him by now. Bush, thus far you get a “F” for not finding him.

Let’s not forget that the CIA bank-rolled Bin Laden in the early 80s. Secondly, how many new terrorists have we created by invading Iraq? The cure is worse than the disease. The war on terror can be fought MUCH better.

It’s illegal to violate Geneva. CIA agents can be indicted for war crimes. Phase II: No imminent threat. Secret prisons hoped to prevent knowledge of American war crimes, a defense to prosecution.

The Senate released a report to the public September 8, 2006 regarding the contacts between the al-Qaida organization and the government of Saddam in Iraq. The report clearly states that Saddam has admitted to the FBI that his government, therefore he himself, had contacts with al-Qaida. I have read this fact only once in an AP news report. Saddam’s al-Qaida contacts and the presence in Iraq of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Iraq, prior to the coalition invasion of March 2003, are undeniable facts, supported by solid documentation. The assertion that Saddam did not provide “help” to al-Qaida or Abu Musab al-Zarqawi seem to come only from the mouths of Saddam and his henchmen ( i e. they did not inhale). My question is why would any rational person believe the self serving statements made by Saddam and his cronies? Was not Saddam placed on the State Department’s list of State Sponsors of Terrorism in 1979 by the Carter Administration? Have not Saddam’s terrorist ties been documented for decades?

Lest they forget that it was the REAGAN administration that created this monster in the early 80s to begin with… giving him money hand over fist, not to mention weapons, to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan… not to mention Iraq and Iran in their war against each other.
Ahh… the memories.

So if they don’t think they are doing anything wrong, why are they buying insurance policies???
Worried CIA Officers Buy Legal Insurance
Plans Fund Defense In Anti-Terror Cases
By R. Jeffrey Smith
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, September 11, 2006; Page A01
CIA counterterrorism officers have signed up in growing numbers for a government-reimbursed, private insurance plan that would pay their civil judgments and legal expenses if they are sued or charged with criminal wrongdoing, according to current and former intelligence officials and others with knowledge of the program.
The new enrollments reflect heightened anxiety at the CIA that officers may be vulnerable to accusations they were involved in abuse, torture, human rights violations and other misconduct, including wrongdoing related to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. They worry that they will not have Justice Department representation in court or congressional inquiries, the officials said.

Only cowards worry about our enemies hating us. I hate them. Let them fear the true might of the American warriors. They think we are weak. Let’s show them that kindness is not weakness. It’s time to take off the gloves and stop worrying about what those who would kill us or their supporters think. Overwehlming use of force and total annihilation of the enemy is the only solution since time began. We are good, they are evil. Don’t worry liberal cowards. Our real men and women soldier heroes will protect even you, though you don’t deserve it.

Before I post what I had intended to say, I will remark on the comment immediately above (by Blank). The Geneva Convention applies to enemy soldiers who fight against other soldiers, not to terrorists who wish to see you and all those whom you love, dead!
Now, for what I had wanted to say-5000 terrorists dead is a good start. There are many more who need to be eliminated. There are some who think that terrorists deserve some special consideration, as if they can be rehablitated at some half-house for wayward terrorists. There are some who think that killing terrorists generates many more terrorists. That’s rubbish. Terrorism is a self generating machine that doesn’t need our help to produce more terrorists. Should we look the other way when they kill some of us, just so we won’t create more terrorists with a just response to their acts. If someone wishes to turn the other cheek, then that is their right. As for me, I wish to see all terrorists dead and burning in hell. After all, that is what they wish for us, our family and for our friends. I don’t care to give any terrorist carte blanche to kill my children and their children. But, then that just my opinion and I know that I am being unfair to all terrorists. Sorry.

Another question … why is it that we gave safe passage to the relatives of the Royal Saudi family … those who were in the US at the time of the attack on the Towers? That still smells to rotten in my mind … providing them safe passage? I understand that we are addicted to oil, but this game of what the government knows, versus what we know as THE PEOPLE of OUR NATION, really bothers me. I want the TRUTH and not more of the same lies and politics.
It is also so very interesting on how we can have FRANCE and other countries eager to bring peacekeepers into Lebanon, but the idea of bringing peacekeepers into Iraq IS NEVER considered. Indeed, that is where we made our mistakes … we went into Iraq with a lie, attacking another innocent Middle Eastern country in revenge for what BIN LADEN and his henchmen did. I don’t think it was a good decision. I think it has harmed our country so very profoundly …
Indeed, what would have happened if we would have dropped nuclear weapons on Australia or some other country for what Japan did on Pearl Harbor. Mr. President, your decision and that of RICE and others was just simply very rotten and does not follow with our own system of Justice and respect of International Law.

Our way of life is more important than our individual lives. I would trade 100,000 American lives, including my own, to preserve the constitution. Secret torture prisons are thus a greater danger to us and our future than terrorists. So, don’t pretend to be a patriot when you’re just a coward. As for me, give me liberty, or give me death. The Democrats are right… Bush did make mistakes in the conduct of this war. Instead of sending our troops over to Iraq he should have packed up the liberals and sent them over there.
It would have taken a few years but their tools of the trade are MUCH more effective than anything our troops could do.
How many babies are killed by abortion? See what I am saying?
Imagine the “Can’t we all just get along?” chants in the mosques over there!

ABC puts on a fake dramatization full of propagandistic lies, written by zealots with an agenda and not only is it clinton’s fault, but we should kill all the people who were NOT involved in 9/11.

Fear and hatred is an awesome combination to overcome. I see here that for some it is impossible.

5,000? Great! Even if it’s inflated 2x, that’s still good news.
Intentionally or not, Iraq has become a Roach Motel for would-be terrorists. Those worthless punks who are willing to leave their home countries and die for the opportunity to kill Americans find the presence of our soldiers within a couple days’ drive irresistable. Like moths to the flame, they are drawn there, loaded up with explosives by the local leadership, and sent into markets or police stations to kill themselves and Iraqi police and civilians, rarely ever even getting a shot at an American soldier. Among these thousands of roaches there are undoubtedly more than a few that would have come here to attack if there had not been more convenient targets in Iraq. I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather have them taking shots at our soldiers, with their arms, armor, and preparation than at our kids in random elementary schools across the nation. Remember the Beslan school? How would you like that here? Or ten of them? Or how about a mushroom cloud over New York? D.C.? L.A.? It will happen if we let it.
Do you think it’s an accident that by being in both Afghanistan and Iraq that we have over 150,000 American troops on Iran’s doorstep? Do you really think that’s just happenstance? Don’t be so naive.
Iraq: $400B Roach Motel & Staging Area – and worth every penny and ounce of blood.

I suspected it before but some of the comments posted here make me certain.
The Dumbocrat-brainwashed, leftwing-professor-educated, propagandist-parrots are simply anti-capitalist and thus, anti-American.
Being socialists, they loathe their own country for its capitalist elements and therefore feel they need to distort any fact, buy any lie, and support any terrorist movement against US interests. Anything to bring down the “evil” free market system… and along the way, any president and any political party that might be an obstacle to that.
Their economic bias and their own subconscious panic that they might be supporting an outdated and bankrupt social system (socialism) has turned them blind to logic, truth and morality. They’ll buy into any conspiracy that might support their preferred reality, no matter how convoluted or unsupported by evidence. Even being perpetually proven wrong doesn’t dissuade them. Even treason is justifiable for these mental-midget Michael Moore puppets.
That’s quite a desperate self-hatred. Sad for them; and an obstacle to freedom and truth for the rest of us.
If they’d just listen… but they’re afraid of what they might hear. Sad.

What concerns me is the Democratic Pary’s inability to propose a different plan for fighting the war on terror. They have blasted the President since the beginning of his administration without ever offering a better choice than the Bush doctrine. Republicans will have free reign to be sloppy and irresponible politicians until Democrats decide to create an alternative platfrom.

As a former Muslim, and as a woman, I know that there are bigger problems than the Western World is beginning to admit.
Islam itself teaches violence against “infidel” powers. The blokes who perpetrated the London bombs were raised in the UK, were educated and had never stepped foot in Iraq, Pakistan or Afghanistan.
Mohammad Atta and other 9/11 attackers weren’t radicalised until they were living in Western Europe despite being educated as engineers by Western nations. Most Muslims won’t commit violence but they support it. Islam is the common denominator and we must save other women who were not as lucky as me to escape from its clutches.

83% of the Federal Budget is spent on our military, according to some moron (“Kilgore Trout”)making a comment here. Mr. Trout had better take that fish hook out of his brain before he spews more nonsense on these pages.
Medicare, Medicaid, Veteran’s Benefits, Federal Worker’s Pensions and Social Security absorb the bulk of the Federal Budget. To be sure, the military gets a share of the budget, but it’s no where near “83%”.

Pretty amazing reading all of the extreme negativity and fear mongering by the radical left on this. Who would have thought on 9/11/01 that we would be sitting here remembering this date 5 years later with virtually no follow on attacks on our soil?
Hate and Bush bash all you want, RESULTS speak louder than words, and I firmly believe that if we would have gone down the pacifist trail, (as the extreme left advocates), then we would be here 5 years later mourning more than the attacks on 9/11. Go back through history and review what it takes to win a war, it never starts with “gee let’s not make them angry”. Gore, Kerry and the gang would have strapped on their walking shoes and taken us down that trail.
Stand up and take pride in your country.

President Bush has done a good job on fighting terror.
I do not believe the manner in which we invaded and attacked Iraq was necessary.
I heard comments on the TV reinactment of 9-11 and some think Clinton was treated unfairly.
But I think it was accurate, and if you watched the whole thing it sounds like Bush was a little neglegent also concerning the attack.
Bush had good intentions, but he did not act soon enough after he entered the white house that is documented in that show.

Its sad and pathetic to see people support an administration whose foreign policy has only made terrorism against the U.S. more inevitable. Calling the terrorists “Islamic fascists” only alienates Muslims and using military force at every turn isnt the answer either. Afghanistan was completely justified but Iraq was Bush/Cheney’s unilateral wetdream and used 9/11 and the ‘possible link’ with Saddam to fool the public into supporting the case for war. Iraq is dissolving into civil war while Bush/Rumsfeld continue to deny it. Iraq will end up a Shiite led govt aligned with Iran. Mark my words.

See that’s the problem with CLOSED MINDS!
Why is chasing them with Law Enforcement Techniques “Pacifist trail”???
This is how MANY of the terrorists that have been caught have been caught! They are captured by intelligence and police style work.
Not at the end of a gun!
All we have done with this gun ho method is create more terrorists.
By the way, just because people want to catch them in a different manner does not mean they are soft! It just means that they THINK!

Q- How many Direct warnings did Clinton get? Did he have multiple countries waringing him of an event about to happen? Or did it just happen????
Now let’s visit the timeline for Bush!
-Early 2001: Bush Staffers Less Concerned with Terrorism – Clinton and Bush staff overlap for several months while new Bush appointees are appointed and confirmed. Clinton holdovers seem more concerned about al-Qaeda than the new Bush staffers. For instance, according to a colleague, Sandy Berger, Clinton’s National Security Adviser, had become “totally preoccupied” with fears of a domestic terror attack.

hey brad, where did you get info….out of some slanted liberal book, or did you actually research government documents and compile the information on your own.
Thanks for the read. if true….man, what morons in washington. I say that as a conservative.
Bush is backed by war machine. They need war to make billions and then more billions on rebuilding the country we destroyed. Its a business, like pharmaceuticals, etc. When you start looking at the middle east, war, oil, etc. as a unified business, this adminstration makes sense. All the peices start coming together.
I don’t like it, but hey, if I were president, I would be pressured to make my friends rich too. It goes with the job.
The democrats have their businesses that get rich too. its just not war, energy and oil.
back and forth, back and forth. they all get rich.

I could not help but notice you started your timeline around january 2001. This is clearly an honest mistake on your part im sure. You may want take a look a few years back in your research possibly even into the Clinton administration….. You may have noticed in the news over the past few days a fiasco by some who did not want some information to hit the mainstream media. Now i think we all know what that information is and i will spare you the reminder of these failures, brad, because i can tell you have had a bad week fighting off the “radical moronic right wingers” like myself who seem to make up a majority of this country. I bet you scratch your head at night wondering why no one else in the world except Iran realizes that George Bush blew the trade center.

We forget that most Iraqi civilian deaths are the result of arab-on-arab atrocity. Nearly all Iraq civilian casualties listed by Iraq Body Count, some 50,100+, are attributable to disaffected Sunni insurgents, foreign fighters, and Shiite revenge killings. Don’t blame the Bush administration because Sunnis and outsiders cannot accept a democratic Iraq, and have some warped sense of religious fanaticism.
“One U.S. news report guessed the insurgent dead in Iraq at 36,000 since 2003, while the number of Iraqi military killed (potential insurgents and terrorists)during the invasion phase remains unknown and unknowable.” I suspect the CIA General’s figures relate primarily to Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Don’t be fooled into thinking we are only racking up a 1 for 2 margin for our military efforts.
Is the cost too high? Contrast our current military death tolls with the 50,000 killed in BOTH Viet Nam and Korea. Look at WWII with nearly half a million American dead, 6,000,000 dead Jews, and 20,000,000 dead Russians. Then look at the many hundreds of thousands killed at Hiroshima and Nagasaki to get an idea of the potential American civilian death toll if state-sponsored terrorists get a nuclear weapon onto a ship heading into a U.S. port….something likely to be attempted regardless of whether we pull out of Iraq before their own security forces can do the job.
North Korea, or Iran would never dare to launch a nuclear missile against the U.S. or Israel. But state-sponsored terrorist fanatics, accessing nuclear weapons wouldn’t hesitate to use them. The states sponsoring terror must fear U.S. reprisals just as surely as if they had launched a missile themselves.
The stakes are high if our resolve is low. The problem won’t evaporate because 60% of spoiled Americans want to bury their heads in the sand, forgetting the toll from unprovoked attacks of just 5 years ago with nothing more than passenger airplanes as weapons.
Give fanatics the opportunity to attempt harm against armed and armored Americans, Europeans allies, and Israelis abroad rather than unarmed, helpless infidels in their homeland.

Dubai, 12 Sept. (AKI) – Osama bin Laden is planning to carry out new, more destructive attacks inside the United States, and there is someone working on this terror plot currently in the US, according to Hamid Mir, the famed Pakistani journalist who obtained the only post-9/11 interviews with Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri. In an interview quoted on the website of the al-Arabiya television network, Mir spoke about his last trip to Afghanistan and his meeting with al-Qaeda members and Taliban leaders.
In his interview with Al.Arabiya.net, Mir said that the al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters referred to attacks targeting the US-led coalition forces during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan which begins on 24 September, and that the al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden was in “good” health during a meeting he had recently with the Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammed Omar.
Mir also said that bin Laden has assigned a man named Adnan Al-Shukri Juma to carry out a new attack within the US which is intended to be larger than the 11 September, 2001 attacks. According to Mir, Adnan Jumaa has smuggled explosives and nuclear materials into the US through the Mexican border over the last two years and is hiding somewhere in America where the FBI has not been able to locate him.
The Pakistani journalist also gave a brief background on Adnan Jumaa. Born in Saudi Arabia, he moved to the US where he met a group of a Al-Qaeda members in the Al-Farouq mosque in New York in 2000. He then traveled to an Arab state and from there to Pakistan then Afghanistan. He left there two years ago and since then has smuggled nuclear material from Mexico to the US. Jumaa has earned the nickname “Al-Qaeda nuclear whizz” and is tagged to play the same role in a future attack as Mohammed Atta did in the 9/11 attacks.
In March 2003 the FBI announced that it was seeking a link between Adnan and others accused of terroris, saying Adnan Jumaa “or maybe one of his several nicknames” had appeared in intelligence information gathered after the arrest of Khalid Sheik Mohammad.
Western media had reported in earlier times that Adnan Jumaa was a Saudi pilot, but the Saudi Ministry of Interior security spokesman lieutanent Mansour Al-Turki said in a statement to Al-Watan newspaper two months ago that Adnan Jumaa is not a Saudi citizen, he was living in the kingdom until he was eleven years old and left along with his parents, who are not Saudis, twenty years ago.
Adnan Al-Shukri’s name has been mentioned in many Western media reports claiming that Al-Qaeda has acquired nuclear technology. The American writer, Paul Williams, in his book ” The Al-Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse”, says he was among a number of Al-Qaeda members trained for the nuclear technology.
On another issue, Hamid Mir spoke to Alarabiya.net of his last trip to Afghanistan and his meeting with a leader of Taliban named “Khaibar” in Zabul who claimed that 300 Taliban suicide bombers had managed to sneak into Kabul and Jalalabad to carry out attacks against coalition troops during Ramadan.
Mir alleges that there was a meeting between Bin Laden and Mullah Omar several few weeks ago in the mountain area of Zabul where they planned more attacks, “I received this piece of information from one of the Taliban leaders who attended the meeting himself and I met him recently in Afghanistan” Mir said. “He told me that this was the second meeting between the two men since last year and that Bin Laden’s health seemed good while he was eating with Mullah Mohammad Omar.
The Pakistani journalist expressed his surprise of the changing situation in Afghanistan; saying that the Taliban had come back to rule some areas and spread their special courts, their special administrations, nothing that even some police officials follow their orders.

Who are these 5,000 terrorists (a very round number)? Is Gen. Hayden going to release a list? Who gets counted? If Al-Queda’s core operational leadership is decimated, then who is planning all the attacks that are continuing to be carried out?
Terrorism may be on the run, but if some of these vicious screeds I’m reading here are any indication, hatred and hysteria are alive and well.

All the talk of “body counts” is so 1960′ish. That metric didn’t work in the Viet Nam war and it won’t work now in an effort counter an asymmetric enemy like Al-Qaeda. What we need to defeat is an ideology that expouses violence in the name of relgion and killing in the name of Allah.
The people who can effectively end this conflict are the Muslims themselves. Unless and until they decide to renounce the terrrorists and repudiate killing in the name of Islam… the “battle of civilizations” will sadly go on.
We need a multi-faceted approach to convince the larger Islamic community that it is in THEIR best interests to reject Bin Laden/Zawahiri, et al, and begin a process of modernization and acceptance of all other religions and people.

Cole’s statement “North Korea, or Iran would never dare to launch a nuclear missile against the U.S. or Israel.” That statement is naive and ignorant. First of all, N. Korea and Iran or completely different except for their regimes hatred of the U.S. Maybe you havent been staying informed. North Korea uses its nuclear weapons and provacative missile launches as bargaining chips to get much needed aid from the world. Iran on the fanatical side and should be taken at its word. To say Iran’s leaders are crazy when they say Israel “should be wiped off the map” and they want to destroy America is foolhearted. If Iran obtained nuclear weapons, which I think any intelligent person can agree that is exactly what they are trying to do, they would not only try to smuggle them to terrorist groups but Iran’s leaders would use them themselves as they see this as preparing for the final showdown with the West and Israel. Wake up people, the Israel and Hezbollah conflict was the early stages of WW3. This wont be just nation vs. nation, it will of course include all the terrorists groups who have no state but are supported by one. Can this be avoided? Of course. But not unless the U.S. changes its current course of action. Demanding that N. Korea and Iran sit down only to int’l talks and on conditions is completely arrogant. ENGAGED the 2 nations directly, lay out your demands and the incentives you will be willing to give if your demands are met and the consequences each nation will face if they dont comply. Simply dancing around multi-nation talks is getting no where and will continue that way.
The U.S. just continues to try and isolate these countries which not only strengthens their hatred of America but gives them all common ground against us. After 9/11 Syria was helping the U.S. with intelligence on the terror war, now Bush has completely ruined any cooperation we were getting from them. And now that the Bush has taken down Saddam their is no buffer to Iran and Syria has now aligned itself with Iran while still maintaining influence in Lebanon. If Bush/Cheney had used 1 ounce of brain power they would have propped Syria up as ‘friends’ and that would have left Iran all alone in the region. Dont forget, Iran needs Syria’s help in transporting arms to Hezbollah b/c they go through Syrian territory.
Bush has fumbled through foreign policy like a kid learning to ride a bike. His (and Cheney/Rumsfeld) ego gets in the way of using other methods to get the job done besides his use of a ‘setup to fail’ diplomatic approach and then inevitable war b/c of that approach.
Stop the partisan politics people, stop voting for one particular party and blindly supporting that party b/c they are Republican or Democrat. VOTE ON THE ISSUES.

RE: Dave – “brad, because i can tell you have had a bad week fighting off the “radical moronic right wingers” like myself who seem to make up a majority of this country.”
Actually Dave, there are more “Liberals/Democrats” then there are Republicans…. However, the Republicans are better at getting their people out to vote.
Maybe you might want to do some research on that “majority” thing!
By the way.. Yes it started in 2001, because Bush was president then.
Yes Clinton was not a perfect president, but at least when he was told something was going to happen he would assemble a team to determine what could be done and what the damage might be.
Bush did nothing from day one! Clintons team told Bush’s that Al Quaeda was the number one threat he would face. All they were worried about was information about Iraq!
So yes, I blame Bush. Not ONCE did he hold a meeting with the FBI and CIA to go over any information or have them clarify the information coming in.
Not only that…. He put up a wall for our military to ENSURE that 9/11 happened! Yes I said it! Check history! How many war games has ever been performed at the same time like on 9/11??? Directives being modified only months before 9/11 to effect the outcome. The Secret Service knowing at 7AM about a possible hijacking but does nothing about moving the president when “were under attack”. Completely not protocol. Someone very high up prevented them from doing their job. Why would the president be safe in a place that is being broadcast live and there were planes still in the air that they could not account for, nor did they know how many were hijacked.
Sorry, but it was an “inside job”. There is more than enough evidence to prove it.
I realize that the Republicans do not seem to think for themselves and no matter what will stick with their party, but maybe one day you and others will actually take an interrest in our country over a party and look at the information.
One can only hope…..
I am more than happy to debate this with you should you desire too.

it seems like there are those that believe that the Bible is real and there are those that will fight with their last breath of human intelligence against that fact. take the time to study God’s word and you will find that this whole middle east, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindi, worldwide conflict is foretold and ongoing for over 10,000 years. read it and weep folks; it’s all there in God’s holy word, the mind of Christ. you hate me and people like me because you hate Jesus and the fact that you are accountable to Him for your disbelief. there will be fighting until the end of the world as we know it. you will sign your peace treaties, but there will be no peace. you hate your own president because he knows the truth.

For the education of “Griz” and others, the Geneva Convention applies to, among others, the following:
(2) Members of other militias and members of other volunteer corps, including those of organized resistance movements, belonging to a Party to the conflict and operating in or outside their own territory, even if this territory is occupied, provided that such militias or volunteer corps, including such organized resistance movements, fulfil the following conditions:[ (a) that of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates; (b) that of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance; (c) that of carrying arms openly; (d) that of conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war. (Convention III, Article 4)

Well Geogg, you are totally out of touch with reality. Either your memory is short or you are too young to remember Vietnam when children young enough to barely be able to walk sometimes walked into restaurants with grenades straped to them. Who do you think makes up guerilla armies(terrorists)?
