The Dems’ Ripe New Target?

ABC’s Teddy Davis reports: For six terms, Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) has represented a Republican-leaning seat in South Florida which President Bush carried in 2004 with 54% of the vote. Up until now, it has not been among the most competitive 45 seats in the country.

The Democratic candidate, Tim Mahoney, has been running a "real" campaign, albeit an underdog one.

Now that we have been told by the Florida Secretary of State’s office that Rep. Foley’s name will appear on the already-printed ballots, this seat will clearly become one of the closely watched races of the year and potentially provide Democrats with a ripe new target.

Democrats need a net gain of 15 seats to take the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee claims that its internal polling has shown the race within single digits even though it is not one of the 45 most competitive races in the country.

As of August 16, 2006, Tim Mahoney (D-FL) had $343,755 cash on hand in his campaign account compared to Rep. Mark Foley’s (R-FL) $2,787,281. http://www.tray.com/cgi-win/x_racepg.exe?DoFn=FL162006H

There should be a criminal investigation by the FBI into the conspiracy to cover-up this crime by Boehner Hastert and Dennis. These are supposed to be the individuals who know that a crime is supposed to be reported not covered-up.

Warrants should be issued against Boehner, Hastert & Dennis for not reporting this crime against a minor. And also for conspiracy to cover-up this crime.

Shame! Shame! Shame for the Republican leaders for the cover up just to protect their majority in the house…I will vote with my faith with God to protect our young innocent Americans. How can republicans teach us about moral values when they can’t live with lies on their own. I can’t judge Mr Foley’s behavior because I’m not God…some repbulicans do judge other people! Please clean your closet before judging others…time for change this midtem election…God please save us from Republicans destructions, no more lies, no more wars, and no more hatred. I encourage my fellow americans to vote wisely!

There are numerous “Foxes” in the hen house in Washington, D.C. and our government body! Foley is perhaps one of these. When there are people who are supposed to be looking out for certain problematic situations, where are they and why are they not doing their job? The government is made up of a bunch of men and women with serious personal problems to begin with! Everyone must be alert and watchful of every politician, despite their political party..be it Democrat or Republican or other. Pages should be done away with in these troubled times, let their work load fall where it may. This alone, would salvage many of the nations young people and save much grief of both the potential victim, parents, families and citizens across the land. Shame on these predators, drunks, sex crazy, drugged out fools! If guilty, they need to be in jail or prison somewhere tucked safely away from all society instead of in the public eye, sneaking about to do their crimes! Injustice comes in packages of different sizes and colors. Seems like Washington is full and running over with this garbage!
Save our Country, our citizens and our children …watch your next vote very carefully..do a little investigating of your own on these candidates before you go to the polls! Do your part as a citizen!

Can we stop pretending now that the GOP’s embrace of the religious right is anything other than cynical manipulation of working poor and middle-class voters who would otherwise never support its rich-get-richer agenda?

Makes me want to go forge a memo and pin this on Bush.

Mary Mapes,
Forge, er, take a memo. Pin this thing on Bush, somehow.
