Tupac, BIG Murders: Now Cold Cases

Ten years after a violent east coast/west coast rap war broke out, the murders of two leading rap artists remain unsolved.    It was songs with lyrics, "Hit ‘em up.  You say that you’re a player, but I bust your wife," that helped Tupac Shakur fuel a west coast/east coast rap war into the mid-1990s, a war that culminated in Shakur’s death in Las Vegas, and the death of Notorious B.I.G. six months later.  Now 10 years later, both deaths remain unsolved although there have been dozens of theories, including one presented in the 2002 book, "Labyrinth," by Randall Sullivan.  "The common link in both murders is Suge Knight, well the implication of Suge Knight," says Sullivan. THE BLOTTER RECOMMENDS Payola Probe Settlement Tough in Public, ‘Quiet as a Mouse’ in Jail Click Here for More of the Brian Ross Page Marion "Suge" Knight was the CEO of Tupac Shakur’s record label, Death Row Records, and he was driving the car carrying Shakur when the gunman’s car approached. "They pulled up alongside at exactly the right moment, and they happened to pull up at exactly the right angle that allowed them to fire back and only hit Tupac, not hit Suge at all," Sullivan said. A month after Tupac’s shooting, Knight, in a Los Angeles county jail where he was being held for a parole violation, told ABC News he would not tell the police who Shakur’s killer was, if he knew. "Because it’s, it’s not my job. I don’t get paid to solve homicides. I don’t get paid to tell on people." Randall Sullivan’s book makes the argument that Suge Knight ordered Tupac’ s murder because the rapper was trying to leave his record label . The book also accuses the Los Angeles Police Department police of a cover-up.  The LAPD says they cannot comment on the investigation because of an ongoing lawsuit, but in the past has denied the author’s allegations. "Personally I think it’s unlikely that either Biggie’s or Tupac’s murders at this point will be solved," said Sullivan.  "When you have a situation where the police in both jurisdictions don’t want the murders solved, it makes it very difficult." Our attempts to reach Suge Knight for comment today were unsuccessful.  Knight has denied involvement in the murders in the past. Who cares about this anyway…..maybe we could report on something positive.

Although two people lost their lives tragically, there are more important things to be reported. Not Tom Cruise and the mystery baby, or any other of these over-hyped celebrities. Real news is what the country needs to keep us informed. Quit trying to distract us with this fluff and report the real news that affects all of us.

the people (fans) care and how could you say something like that, better yet how would you like if one of your love ones murder was never solved.
This is positive….

I care about it. It was a tradgey day in hip hop…. Something that you would not know about

Well, the mothers of both victims are two people who care. I think any parent should care that two sons’ killers have not been brought to justice. No crime was beign committed by either man when they were killed.
If you got killed, wouldn’t people want your murder solved?

HONESTLY, I THINK THAT ALOT OF PPL SHLD CARE. IF IT WAS A FAMILY MAMBER OF URS YOU WLD CARE. HOW DO THINK THEIR MOTHERS FEEL RIGHT NOW. SO THEY WERE RAPPERS, SO THEY WERE IN A “RAP WAR”. THAT DOESNT MEAN THAT WHEN 2 PPL GET KILLED THE CASE SHLDNT BE SOLVED. AND AFTER 10 YRS NO1 CAN SOLVE THE CASE I THINK THAT THAT SHOWS JUST HOW LITTLE THE AUTHORITIES CARE ABOUT PPL WHO DONT FIT INTO A CERTAIN MOLD. IF IT WAS SOME1 W/ $ THEIR CASE WLD HAVE BEEN SOLVED A LONG TIME AGO. AND I KNOW THIS BCUZ I’VE LIVED WERE TU-PAC WAS FROM AND I HAVE FAMILY WHERE BIGGIE WAS FROM AND I KNOW 1ST HAND THAT CERTAIN PPL DO KNOW THE WHOS,WHAT AND WHYS. BUT BCUZ THEY WANT TO ACT “COOL” OR THEY ARE SCARED OF WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF THEY TOLD THEY DONT. AND I DONT OR DO ARGREE W/ THEM, BUT IT IS THE POLICE THAT SHLD BE ABLE TO SOLVE THESE MURDERS, W/ OR W/O THE PUBLICS. BUT THESE ARE JUST MY VIEWS, MY OPINONS.

Lots of people care. Or else it wouldn’t of been reported. Tupac’s death has affected a lot of people. Hopefully the police will not look at the colour of his skin and his lyrics and one day solve this murder.

I hope one day this will all be over. Justice will come for Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. Mother’s

People who love music (not just hip-hop) should care because Tupac wasnt not just a “thug”, he was someone’s son, someone’s cousin, someone’s uncle, someone’s idol. He brought the reality of the “ghetto” to people that never experienced it. To me, he was kepted the any situation real. Nevered sugar coated the situation at all. People do care, I care because Tupac’s lyrics still EVEN TODAY tells the truth in the ghetto’s across america and maybe even around the world. A message to people who do not know who Tupac was, he was a inspiring human being..and continues to be even in his death…

I think it’s sad that because these two young men did not live there lives in shirt and ties, there murders mean nothing to certain people. My regrets go out to there families.

They were both THUGS!!! Involved in much more than RAP… They got what they deserved. Drugs and Drama = Death

The people that say “who cares about this” or “we have better things to report on” are the people who don’t understand how these events changed pop culutre and hip-hop. Regardless of how you feel about the music the deaths of both Tupac and Biggie are a part of history. People do not understand Tupac and what he stood for. We see how the media represented him. I recommend watching “Tupac-The Resurrection.”
Your view of him will change

Frankly, “justice” for killing one of these illiterate, criminal thugs probably ought to draw a misdemeanor charge for littering.
With their vulgar conduct and the degenerate lifestyle they have promoted they’ve contributed to the loss of just about half of an entire generation. They have a mostly black following and I think it is obvious these are kids who really don’t need any more millstones to haul through life.
Most of them (actually, nearly 100% in Detroit) struggle to grow up with a single mother. A very substantial portion of them will be raised by a grandmother or other relative.
Idolizing these thugs and punks is hardly constructive for them, but most of them are far to stupid to have a clue. The hormones kick in, they drop their drawers and create another generation.
But, of course, they’ll uniformly DEMAND the taxpayers “help” them.

Everyone that is here on Earth touches someone’s life in one way or another. Not one of us here has the right to pass judgement on these individuals. Heartless and insensitive are those who bad mouth the dead (we’re talking about real individuals) Someone here loved them and most still do. Trying to compensate for your lack of integrity and self worth by putting down either one of these men is just shameful. These two individuals touched millions of lives they left a legacy for many to remember long after many of us have gone. If you want to make a difference; learn how to express your views and opinions to others in a positive and educated way.
This is what’s wrong with society today to many people living their lives with no apathy or respect for others.
These unsolved murders are a disgrace to the public. Whether or not these individuals led the lives of sinners or saints; they still deserve justice. I hope that the family members find solace in knowing that one day these coward’s/killers will face judgment; whether in this life time or the next.
Peace be unto you Tupac & Biggie

YESTERDAY,TODAY,TOMMORROW,U WILL NEVA FIND A SPIRIT LIKE TUPAC’S.
ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG YET THEY BOTH DESERVE RESPECT AND JUSTICE FOR THEIR UNTIMELY AND NOT DESEVERED DEMISES.10 YRS LATER HIS WORDS STILL TOUCH AND RING TRUTH IN DECADES TO COME.ONE BY ONE THIS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN UNLESS THE PREDJUDICE,INJUSTICES AND CORRUPTION WE LIVE IN OUR SOCIETY CEASE.IT WOULD BE A LIE TO THINK THESE CASES CAN BE SOLVED,IN THIS WORLD THERE JUST BLACKS WHO ASKED FOR IT BUT IN ACTUALITY IT WAS A LOSS TO OUR GENERATION OF 2 GIFTED SOULS,WHO R IN MUCH BETTER PLACE NOW.GOD BLESS THEM,WE ARE THE ONES WHO NEED MERCY FOR JUDGING 2PAC EVEN AFTER DEATH.MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND KNOW 1 DAY JUSTICE WILL B SERVED BUT UR MISSION WAS ACCOMPLISHED WE STILL MOURN YOU AND STILL HEAR YOU.NEVA WILL BE FORGOTTEN U WERE MUCH BIGGER THAN HIPHOP AND U WERE OUR JAMES DEAN.

I also live my life like Tupac’s. I even want to be like him in a different way.He inspired me to start to rap at the age nine. And every year I get better and better. If I blow up I’ll try to change the industri just like Tupac did.So I live a Thug Life till I can make music that everybody understand. Then one day it will all be peace. Like Martin Luther King say.

“Two-Packs Fursure” was nothing but a glorified piece of ghetto TRASH! He never deserved any of the fame or fortune he recieved. Fate paid him back for being such a worthless piece of vulgar crap! He wasn’t even a real “gangster” (as if any of them really are). So why would anyone but his family give a crap? They don’t, so drop the memories of him and just let him rot in hell!

Posted by: shafteriffic | September 15, 2006, 11:59 am 11:59 am

These men were THUGS, pure and simple, who were into drug use, vulgarity and killing those who didn’t agree with them (or were on the wrong coast.) They contributed nothing of lasting value to this world. Maybe they didn’t deserve to die, but it shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. Why don’t we instead spend our time trying to solve the mysteries surrounding all the missing adults and children in this world?

I do not think the murder of two rap stars from over ten years ago is national news. Yes it is a tragedy for the parents, but is that the criteria for national news? If so, then there are those kind of tragedies happening right now every day. When can we expect to see them in the news? People who believe this is national news are celebrity junkies who are confused about what real journalism should be. Music is just music. Will these individuals be remembered a 100 years from now, are they the Mozart of our era, not likely. So lets get over these two talented but flawed individuals and move on to something more important.

You all really need to quit with those disrespectful comments. If you dont have anything better to say about Tupac then just dont comment. Tupac was a legend to many, as was said before, he brought awareness to the real hood and the struggles and trials and tribukations people have to face in their everyday lives to survive. Unlike most rappers nowadays, he always had a story to tell that people could relate to and was not only a rapper but a poet. Those who dont know about this man really need to shut up because you dont know what he was really about. He talked about what he saw going on in our world today and everyone should be able to relate to something he said. R.I.P. Tupac and much love to the family who had to endure the loss of a legend!

Tupac was many things a thug, criminal, rapper, actor, and one of the best lyricysts ever. He didn’t have to share his talents with most of you but enough of us wanted to listen and he CHANGED the way we live, and the way we treat each other. Tupac never did a crime he didn’t have to do.
Tupac was good at heart and wanted the best for the world(just listen to Changes), he had his struggles and the only way to come out of it was to rap, he is an inspiration to millions and millions more to come.
His legacy will live on and spark the minds of some of the elite human beings.
RIP Tupac

Tupac and Biggie both deserve respect. Those without sin, please throw the first stone? HMMMM, everybody sins. Tupac knew his nature and tried to correct most of what he did wrong.! He is loved because he showed his good and bad sides which most people are afraid to do. Most will remember his good side like when he told down-trodden folks in the ghetto and black women to Keep Ya Head Up, things are gonna get better.” No matter what you’re going through. Also Dear Mama, eventhough you were a Crack fiend, Mama, you always was a black queen. His mom couldn’t get a job for a very long time becuase of her Panthers’ association against the oppression of black folks here in America. Then there was the semi religious ode to a female again in Hail Mary. Most people talk about the Father, the Son, but hardly talk about Dear, sacred Mary! So that is one of the many reasons Tupac is so loved. Imagine if Big Poppa did the same, we all be saying there is a tie on who is the Greatest. In my opinion, Tupac edges Biggie because of those real lyrics! Peace to both of them!

Mike:
“They have a mostly black following”
This shows how little you know. The majority of the sales of rap albums — including those of Tupac and BIG — went to middle-class white kids. I’m not much of a fan of rap, but I think it’s pretty clear that you prefer to stereotype the genre rather than to occasionally listen to it and find out what’s actually being said.

for the people who posted comments saying “who cares.”
i would like to inform you narrow minded people that pac sold over 72 million records world wide and his record sales between 2002 and 2003 reached upward of $12 million dollars. so think befor u comment. obviously alot more people than u think cared.

Tupac was an amazing rap artist that still lives in many peoples hearts.People hate him because of his music but by hearing Tupac is a thug everyone started thinking wrong about him. people who hate him should listen to his music cuz there was nothing wrong with it ya some songs go over board but wut rapper dosn’t do that?Everything Tupac wrote was true and he was trying to express his feelings.many people got hurt and many people cared for him but how would you like it if people were talking s*** about something you loved you would also get mad so if you have bad comments against Tupac then keep them to your self but the people who love TUPAC just like me let’s remember that Tupac Lives Forever

I have to wrie a paper and satred to research into the death of Tupack.Though I was not born in this country and will not know much about thing, I thin he has a good reputation among his love ones and some of us who came to know after he was dead and gone He is a talented person and deserve the respect that needed to be accordede him.

You People Have No Idea How Tupac (2 Pac) Could Change The World. He’s Was Not Your Average Rapper. He Talked About Helping The World “They Got Money For War, But Can’t Feed The Poor. I’m Old Enough To Go To War, But I Ain’t Old Enough To Drink”

Posted by: Worldwide | October 22, 2008, 5:29 am 5:29 am

Tupac should have never died if you listen to his he has a gift he felt as if the government didn’t treat blacks right and some black who try to talk bad about him should understand he wanted peace for African-American women and men but mostly he cared for children you guys put it as he was all bad a gangsta/thug/heartless person tupac was a good person he had his moments in which he dissed people but he seriously wanted to show his love for us he loved all races the reason he is actually dead is because the government thought of him as a threat and they decided on September 7,1996 that they were gonna kill him but they were wrong he didn’t actually die from the gunshots he died from respiratory failure and cardiac arrest im not gonna lie I cry everytime I see him inside im not happy I dont like when people are killed for senseless acts of violence
