Latest Jihadi Video Includes Threat to the White House

A new video aired by al Arabiya television today shows an al Qaeda militant urging fighters to train hard and encourages training on nuclear weapons. "Man has to prepare himself, starting with the first stages of physical exercise … etc. to the highest levels of preparations reached by science today, to the nuclear weapons," said Abu Yahya al Libi on the tape. Al Libi is one of four men who escaped from the U.S. Bagram prison in Afghanistan in July 2005. An unidentified man also appears on the video talking to a group of fighters and mentioning the White House. "If we train correctly for one day and the door opens and the fighting spirit enters the heart of the Muslim brother, [I] swear to God he’ll be able to kill a thousand. [I] swear to God his soul will not be satisfied except [by reaching]…the roof of the White House." THE BLOTTER RECOMMENDS Video Jihadi Tape: Target the White House The Internet: The New Training Ground for Young Terrorist Recruits Click Here to Check Out More of the Brian Ross Page The one-hour video is part of the propaganda war waged by al Qaeda and its allies in the Taliban. It also shows men training on different weapons in what appears to be Afghanistan. The video carries the logo of an organization called "Labbayk," which is believed to be associated with the Taliban.  Al Sahab, the so-called al Qaeda production company, had posted a video statement by al Libi on a jihadi website on Sept. 28. Today, al Sahab also posted video with old footage of rockets allegedly being launched against a U.S. base near Khost in Afghanistan. Another Bagram fugitive is also expected to release a video soon. An announcement on several jihadi websites said Abu Nasser al Qahtani received questions from sympathizers throughout the past week and is expected to address them in a video to be posted online soon. The increasing number of videos and audios being released by the different groups indicates that the media war is intensifying and that the Internet has become an invaluable propaganda tool for those groups.

When is the Bush administration gonna go after the real bad guys? Yet another example of a Bush failure to go after Al Qaeda. Why doesn’t the President go after the bad guys? Why does he seem to almost want Al Qaeda to continue and attack again? What is his problem…these people mean us harm for real. Bush should be impeached for his continued incompetence and inability to protect this nation.

It is too bad that many Muslims are terrorists. This is sad . . but I am starting my senior years and as far back as I can remember, always the Arabs/Muslims
with rags covering their faces, and high powered rifles. These same men killing, even other Muslims. The Muslims call us “infidels.” I find that interesting. I am sure that when they arrive in “PARADISE” they are going to have a real rude awakening!

Thanks Steven for your post. You have illustrated a typical response comming from Democrats these days – blame everything and anything possible on the Bush Administration. You should conisider campaigning for a local Democrat running for office. Can anyone of remote intelligence really suggest that the Bush Administration has done nothing agaist terrorists? Although I disagree with many of the Bush Administration’s policies, the national security issued this presidency may be the only thing we have to hold off more terrorists attacks. Name one presidential hopeful for 2008 that will have a better chance at keeping our nation secure. I can guarantee one thing….it’s not a Democrat.

Steven, What makes you think Bush is not after Al Qaeda? Hopefully, in raising this point, you are wanting him to use every tool available to his disposal to keep us safe such as wiretapping and listening in on foreign phone conversations, right? Or is it simply that you want to criticize him regardless of what he does… This is not my idea of “patriotism in a democracy” – at least you do KIND OF admit that the terrorists are the real enemy and NOT Bush, correct?

Posted by: Jay | October 10, 2006, 5:01 pm 5:01 pm

Bin Laden is too convenient of a boogeyman for Bush to ever get rid of. Bush needs Al Qaeda and Bin Laden to remain around so they can come out with a new tape before every election and scare us all into voting for the rubber stamp Republican congress (aka the U.S. Politburo). Why would Bush and Cheney want to get rid of the actual terrorists, when they let them justify removing the constitution a piece at a time at home and invade wherever they want to invade abroad?

To Stephen’s prior comments, we are still sitting here enjoying our blessed life styles and freedoms daily and last time I checked we have not been attacked since September 11th, 2001!!!!! Get updated and stop venting your personal frustrations at our president, he is doing a supurb job!

Well we continue to lose American lives in Iraq, al Qaeda gets stonger in Afghanistan. Doesn’t take a genius to figure this one out.

Steven,
Why would the administration want to risk loosing their strongest trump card in the elections, TERROR. From the Administrations Neocon perspective turning up the terror knob around election will steer voters to them. From Al Qaeda’s perspective the longer they can keep the radical neocons in power the easier it is to recruit muslims who are ticked off at the US. Remember Osama’s video release right before the 2004 election.

Why does Steven have his head buried so deep in the sand?
Try to be less partisan and view things objectively.

I am sooo tired of liberals and their emotional reactions and ideas on how this country and world should be operate. the biggest fear that democrats and the rest of the left-wing crazy liberals fear is the fact that Americans will finally realize that they have no logical or reasonable ideas on how to run this country. They want to tax us to death and make everyone of us completely depend on the government for every facet of life. That is the only way they can gain power, since basically their ideology is to take from the hard working Americans and give to the lazy and incompetent. and on defending America, they would rather talk even if they are getting punched in the gut. I fear out country will become a laughable state if Democrats gain power and are allowed o make the changes that will weaken this once great country.

Is this Karl Rove’s October surprise?

Posted by: strom | October 10, 2006, 5:53 pm 5:53 pm

Unfortunately, our occupation of Iraq has angered more muslims, and compelled many more Muslims to fight against the US. The Iraq war has actually made the US more susceptible to attacks. I wonder if all you rednecks out there in the red states are regretting voting in such a careless cowboy.
The War on Terrorism isn’t so black and white, such as WWII, where armies faced each other on open battlefields and went at it. We’re dealing with an entirely different enemy. An enemy which, I’m sorry, can’t be beat unless we win the hearts and minds of the Muslim World. Good Luck.

Its scares me that Bush is so backwards on what he sees as security. The sooner he is out of office the better. I would expect even more attacks shortly after he leaves office based on his failure to do his job. I feel sorry for the next President. Trying to fix Bush’s mess will take some time.

Oh, oh. Four weeks till election. Time to play the fear card.
But the biggest threat to the White House and this nation as a whole are the reptilians that are currently running things and have been since 2000…into the ground.
Four guys in the desert threatening the White House is nothing compared to the job the 4 to 6 guys who work there everyday are doing.

I’m still waiting for someone to detail one positive thing that W.Bush has done for ALL the American people. His every thought and action is keyed to filling the pockets of the rich, the corporate sector, the military-industrial complex, and the oil industry. He and his administration built a phony case for invading Iraq and backed himself into a Middle East quagmire that he knows not how to get out of. The man is a total waste, and the absolute worst president this country has had in my almost 70 years. God help us!!

alittle mixed up on how iraq had anything to do with anything but finnishing dads project… but hey being conservitive, theres nothing wrong with makeing a quik stop in iraq to finnish up alittle biz on the way.. saves fuel rite ? lets take care of the objective first, then promote democracy when we have alittle more free time. binladen will have died of old age and his successors even more defined will take over… WELL!!! I FEEL MUCH BETTER. good evening and many more to all, and goodnight.

Letting bin Laden off the hook so Bush can get himself re-elected? Seems to me his chances would have been better if BL was caught him. Boy we have some idiots running thier mouths in our country. And if there are actually more terrorists now…they sure have been hesitant to hit on our soil. I mean it’s been what now…over 5 years? Granted…if a Democratic leader is elected in the next Presidential election than they’ll have the superior numbers to pretty much hit at will once the democratic adminstration lightens up on immigration rules allows terrorists to waltz into the US unopposed.

Bush doesn’t want Ben Laden caught because he would reveal their relationship. Remember the plane full of Ben Laden family sent out of the country when all other flights were grounded?
Had Enough??

I love a debate based on information solely gleened from popular television news.
Let’s go back to trashing Steven for opening his mouth. We got off track. Steven, how dare you! Steven should be sent to Abu Ghraib for offending freedom with that fancy liberal free speech stuff.
Actually, I think we should try an experiment. Give Bush and the PNAC everything they want – carte blanche – now; no questions asked. All courts should be closed down and Congress abolished. Then, there wouldn’t be any interference with the plan (not that there really is any).
I can’t wait to get sent to “the camp.” I’ll finally be able to meet some decent writers have an intelligent conversation.
Until then, remember, “Freedom isn’t free, “United we stand,” “Never forgive, never forget!” Rah, rah, rah!!!

Thank God for our United States Congressional Democracy that we have the right to speak concerning things such as this. These insurgents laugh at our Divided ways here in America.
They set there with their guns and with the smirk and supposed victory look on their faces because the way the Insurgents see things, they’ve already won. Because they are a United Force in what they are doing. When Democrats and Republicans unite to fight this terroism, when they end the endless bickering whos going to run our homeland, when they decide enough is enough and stand up together, thats when we will gain the victory, not until. Everyone in our country is saying they can do it better and run things better but obviously this isnt working is it? There is much corruption in our Political and Governmental powers in America, do you think the Insurgents dont know that? Do you think they wont play on Americas weakness to the max. Just think about it, give it some thought, they’ve given it thought for years now and many whom run their Insurgency are not as stupid as we would like to think. When we as a country, stand totally United in what we do, and quit squabbleing over a next seat in Congress, well, you can just about figure it from here. That is when the Terroism will end, not until. My opionion but it sure makes sense to me.

First to state this is not a true tape. It is a tape prepared by the intelligence community. The background and landscape is not middle eastern background. Currently if this was made in Afghanistan it is becoming very cold there right now and their exact form of clothing does not suit that enviroment. Afghans do not wear light clothing in Winter time.
The landscape is the more likely the Mohave desert in the USA. Afghanistan, Irag, Pakistan don’t have this kind of landscape.
Next it speaks about nuclear weapons. The timing coinsides with North Korea to instill fear in the American Public. Fear is a political tool that has been used by many governments even in a covert way.
The so called al qaida was a band of formerly trained CIA agents to called the mujahadeen to expel the soviets from afghanistan in the 70′s. Look up a simple document that opens many peoples eyes called “Operation Northwoods”.
The only thing to fear is fear itself. Don’t let fear control you.

Posted by: ExCIMAN | October 11, 2006, 3:36 am 3:36 am

again, here we go again. . . yet another video to instill fear on Americans; to promote the animosity of al queda toward America; to promulgate the propaganda and shove us ever closer to a clash of the civilizations and of religions.
So they are attempting to bring down the white house and other great structures of the USA.
Al Queda, I have a message for you and the taliban: many of us abound here in America and elsewhere that are ready for that conflict, with or without the permission of President George W. Bush. Al Queda, don’t tread on us! Strike up the band and let the dance begin.

Posted by: jose | October 11, 2006, 4:37 am 4:37 am

I have to say it is good to see people discussing something other that the Mark Foley scandal.
I have heard a lot of talk about how hard it is to chase down OBL and Al Queda. Yes, it may not be a nation state we are fighting, but it is pretty clear that Osama is responsible 9/11. I dare say that if we committed the resources to Afghanistan/Pakistan border region that we committed to Iraq that he would be dead or captured by now. Yes it is difficult. That is when we Americans are at our best. Give our military the resources and the objective and we will get the job done. The fact that this administration let’s Pakistan dictate what we can and can’t do in pursuing Osama should tell us how bad the Neocons really want Osama captured. They need the evil enemy lurking in the high mountains so that they can manipulate any action they desire as a justified in the war on terror.

Ok everyone is going to have their own views, the REAL problem is the terrorists and how to deal with them or get rid of them if that is possible in the presidency. I find it quite humorous that the media gets this kind of attention when I know for a fact that most of it is false. Why don’t we stop yelling at eachother and become the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA that we were created to be??

Posted by: Rabeka | October 11, 2006, 9:02 am 9:02 am

When will the people of this country reject the constant fear-mongering of the current White House regime? Why must we be blown about by the political contrivances that cause us to run to our “Conservative” savior, who bandies about religion as though he is actually faithful? I am myself conservative in my values, and I promise you that the current administration in this country does not represent my views. Constant war-mongering is a relic of another time that should have long been cast off in favor of peaceful means. War should only be a last resort, not a political rallying call. Why must we sink to new lows of decency and behavior every time we see some scary bogeyman dancing around in a low-quality home movie?

Posted by: strom | October 11, 2006, 9:48 am 9:48 am

I don’t understand why everyone thinks a change in Congress, or who sits in the White House for that matter, will make a difference. I agree with Amigo37, in that all Bush cares about is filling the pockets of his cronies.
It seems that he sincerely doesn’t care about what happens in this country until something BIG happens (see School Violence Conference). We should’ve been protecting our children while Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice were making up excuses to go to war in Iraq.
But of course, due to media attention, school security IS important. We should do more? Tell that to that poor Amish community that lost lives due to America’s lack of focus on what happens HERE.

I am sick of the finger pointing and the party bashing…let’s hope that all of our elected officials can SMARTEN UP and fix the problems that face our country. Finger Pointing is not going to solve our problems Ladies and Gentlemen. I have yet to hear a definitive plan for this country from either camp. All they are good for is blaming each other for the problems with our country. ENOUGH!

I guess the Democrats got us into the war in Iraq and are going to get us into another war in North Korea, and another one in Iran. Clinton didn’t do it for his 8 years, and Bush is doing it in 6.
Having a GOP President, and both Houses of Congress has put us in this situation. Time for two this year to be changed. We can work on the third on in 2 years.

Dems Repubs are all the same. Countless politicizing pieces pushed through the media when in fact we have a real challenge for the next 20-40 years ahead of us. We must stop nation building 1st and foremost…If we cut off our aid whether these people are sympathizers or not they will learn hey without american money we cant feed our kids at all…we must stop bombing countries and then rebuilding(ie iraq)…Bomb Bomb and leave…Totally destroy and see how well al quida rebuilds or hamas. Those people will be begging for help after 6 months…And if they arent well bomb them again..You either fight for your country or die..If you let al quida prop you up too bad you will die…

Man, I get REAL tired of hearing people say things like “Bush is doing a great job! We haven’t been attacked since 9/11!!”
Um, ok. If you are counting years between attacks, that belies that prior to 9/11, the US hadn’t been attacked for 7 years. So, by that math, Bush & Co. still haven’t lived up to the Clinton era.
Reduce taxes, then up the spending–nice way to bankrupt a nation. Kill habeus corpus–nice way to gut the Constitution. Presidential signing notes–nice way to scoff the law. Invading a country that has no proven link to 9/11–nice way to injure (permanently) our standing in the Islamic world. Buddy up to the electronic voting companies–nice way to buy an election.
Face it, Bush’s failures are so many. He’s one step up from a war criminal now. There will be no “October surprise,” rather a dull thud as we see the current occupant of the White House’s international standing diminish even further.

G.W. Bush will go down in history as one of the greatest presidents ever, for doing an excellent job protecting this country, and leading the war on terrorism. Only if a terrorist has a knife on your lefty’s throat, or a bomb strapped to your back will you understand this. God willing the next president will be half as good as Bush, or we could all be wearing burka’s and rags for hat’s and bowing down to the Jihadist.

How about looking at the larger picture of mid east politics…who is the BIG DOG over there? IRAN of course, they’ve got the OIL, and the money to fund ISLAMIC murderers all over the world, so what has our current geopolitical leaders done? who borders IRAQS eastern border (where U.S. troops are based?)IRAN!!! and who borders Afghanistans western border(where U.S. troops are based?)IRAN!!! Bush is boxing them in;if those Mullahs look east, they see U.S. troops…and if they look west, they see U.S. troops!

Posted by: Jim | October 11, 2006, 8:36 pm 8:36 pm

Enough with the “middle east murderers” nonsense.
Since 9/11/2001 what nations policy has been responsible for more civilian deaths world wide, the US or “the Axis of evil” and the terrorists?
In reports released just in the last 24 hours or so, the number of deaths directly related to our occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq have been estimated at upwards of 600,000!
“Axis of evil”?
It’s time to ask ourselves, based on who has set things up to create such a loss of life on the planet, who might the axis of evil truly be?

Posted by: zach | October 11, 2006, 8:43 pm 8:43 pm

Just being able to talk about this subject in such an open manner is what makes this country great. I personaly think that Iraq does not want freedom. Have you noticed that “evil” muslim countries of the world like to be ruled by a dictator that imposes his will on the people (striking fear into their lives by killing anyone who opposes him). These people respect that. I wonder what would happen if the US would be less caring for our enemies (become like the dictators). I wonder what would happen if the US would come out and say “You know what Iraq, we are tired of this. The next town to get out of hand we will destroy everyone in it.” Don’t you think we would get their respect? Sad but true. The Muslim religion, sadly, is based on fear (backlash I’m sure).

This a stereotypical misunderstanding!!
The Qur’an (the Muslim Divine Book)says:
“Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors.
” [2:190]
And to be sure, those so-called “terrorists” are strong adherers to the Qur’an. They believe the West is the initiator of aggression. Read history back to the mideaval Crusades. Read about the killing of children and seniles in Palestine. Read about the Vatican Pope trying hard to mar the truthful Oneness of God Muslims believe in. Read about the Danish grudge against the Prophet Muhammed. The West is anti-Muslim and Muslims are defending themselves.
The Qur’an also says:”And argue not with the People of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) unless it be in (a way) that is better, save with such of them as do wrong; and say: We believe in that which hath been revealed unto us and revealed unto you; our God and your God is One, and unto Him we surrender.” [29:46]

After reading so many comments it’s hard to find words to fit in. This will no doubt offend many but so be it. The truth is we are and will always be at war with any and every nation that opposes the one true living God. We were not created, by the creator ( GOD ) to bow down to the infidel that rejects the soverienty of The almighty. It is not about Mr. Bush, or his administration it is about serving the protector and living in the fear and admonition of his power! Those that reject him and his son are not under his protection. IF any who have been born in the United States or come here do not want to conform to what this mighty Nation is and was established under, being one Nation Under God then Please, feel free to leave! No one is making you stay.
No President that has ever served has been nor ever will be perfect, but at least we have the LIBERTY to pray for him and not fear being murdered for doing so. Stop and think about it, why would you believe in something so evil that would require you to murder someone in cold blood just because you didn’t believe their way. God gives us free will to be like Jesus, to love and comfort one another, not to come against one another. As a I saw in many of the comments the truest statement made that we better cling to is ” God help us!”

Lorrainne above writes about Bush going down as the greatest president? Give me a break. Not even a majority of staunch republicans would make this claim.
And who’s this A Muslim guy above? Mentioning mideaval crusades, vatican pope, and Danish grudge. I have a grudge against the guy down the street but I ain’t going to blow him up.

I agree with Gus.
Sure, the Crusades happenend and they were terrible. But we as Americans didn’t initate them! None of us were even born, so why are WE held responsible for a past wrong that is impossible to make right???
