Update: One Twin Stays, One Twin Goes

ABC News has now learned First Daughter Barbara Bush left Argentina late Sunday night, after being urged to cut short a birthday vacation trip by U.S. embassy officials concerned about the security of the Bush twins after a week of intense media coverage. Her sister Jenna, however, plans to remain in Argentina until Dec. 6, sources told ABC News.  The First Daughters’ visit to Buenos Aires to celebrate their 25th birthday was marred when Barbara Bush’s purse and cell phone were stolen during a visit to the popular San Telmo marketplace, despite the presence of the Bush twins’ Secret Service detail. ———————————————————————– Official Response from the US Embassy in Argentina: We have seen a report from news sources stating that Embassy officials strongly suggested that President Bush’s daughters curtail their visit in Argentina. This is false, as are other aspects of the report referring to the Embassy’s position on the visit. The Embassy welcomes the visit and has provided close support and cooperation.

I thought one of the twins was in Argentina to attend a children’s conference related to her career, not for a out of country Birthday Party.

Apparently, not-Jenna is smarter than Jenna.

Does anybody care? Do you call this a news story?

The twins would be much safer if they enlisted to serve in Iraq.

OK. You ruined this girl’s vacation

The point is that the Bush daughters are the same age as the soldiers dying in Iraq, some 3,000 to date. Some 7,000 Iraqi civilians in the last two months alone. So much death at the instigation of the father. Should these daughters be on an international joyride?

As far as the daughters of an acholic and daughters of a stedford mother, how can we expect them to be any thing but wild and
selifsh. Who do they know that is
not, right no one, that is how they act. So get over it, do not be surprised at what they do. We asked for it.

Why are the Bush twins doing NOTHING to help the war effort? Even if they don’t want to sign up for military duty, there is a lot they COULD do, but refuse to. Why are they not raising money for veterans’ causes or the USO? Why aren’t they speaking on college campuses about the supposed “good” being done in Iraq? Couldn’t they do SOMETHING for the long-suffering people of Iraq? The Bush twins are self-indulgent party girls with no sense of responsibility for their nation. They are the poster children for what is wrong with America today.

When do we get the pictures of the Paraguayan estate purchased by the daughters for the family. Is this Elba? What’s the story on this?

Why were there no cries for Chelsea to join the military for Bosnia. If she was there she may have kept Bill and Wesley from bombing the Chinese Embassy! I also cant figure out why everybody discounts the statements from the embassy or gets their info on the twins behavior.

If they want to take a vacation who cares. I think they are stupid and so is their father but let them get drunk aand party it up. Their father’s career is done, they don’t need to do anything to raise money or anything like that, the Bush legacy is just about over, let it go.

Do they have jobs; have they ever had a job–ever? Two weeks in South America, weeks in Africa. Lots of partying. Never a word about any productive, intellectual or income-bearing activities.
Or activities apart from a steady stream of drinking, socializing and partying. Obviously when Bush leaves the WH they are naturals for beer and booz commercials–and probably little else.

I know one came home and the others still there, could it be she’s as hard headed as papa? Lookout guys you may catch a headache/bad girl. Mabey they should go home and clear some brush, let go of that bad girl image and grow up. Naaa, the ways of some spoiled brats can’t be changed no matter what evil is being done by papa. They feel that they are the privlidged ones.

A bit misleading: “Thursday night, an ABC News producer was able to walk into their hotel unchecked and engage Barbara Bush in conversation ….according to ABC News’ Joe Goldman.”
where Joe Goldman writes that HE was able to walk in and talk to Barbara. Is he a producer or a reporter? Confusing….

Papa Bush was a major league screw up and never accomplished a thing in his life except being elected Gov. of Texas on his dad’s name. Then he became President…..How does he convince the Twinies they need to buckle down if they want to get somewhere in life.

To auditor , If Chelsea had joined it would have been over before she finished basic training . Also genius , unless she was a pilot she wouldn’t have seen any action anyway , even then she would have been perfectly safe , we didn’t lose a man . By the way , our soldiers over there are respected by the population , no armored vehicles no body armor no roadside bombs no fear of moving around . The people know the only reason we went there was to stop the killing . Comparing that with this mess chimpy and his merry band of morons has gotten us into makes me think you must live in a cave with nothing but a radio tuned to rush limbaugh .

Auditor, the land in Paraguay just happens to be on top of one of the largest aquifers in the western hemisphere. They know the next big natural resource battle will be over water, and they’re planning ahead. They want to be able to set the price on water. Not only that, but Paraguay won’t extradite the Bushes.

Awww—-c’mon people–
ever hear the saying “the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree”?
How can anyone expect that they won’t take every opportunity possible to:
1. shirk their patriotic duty in a time of war
2. party like it’s 1999
3. act inappropriately in public
4. actually have a real job
They were bred of ineffective soulless stock–why would anyone expect anything of them?
It’s SCIENCE, stupid.

I heard Jenna Bush was finalizing a deal for a big land purchase for the Bush family in Paraguay. But now I think maybe Bush is trying to orchestrate a kidnapping of one or both of his twins(by the CIA of course, no one that would actually hurt them) and blame it on neighboring Venezuela in order to have a grand excuse to take Chavez out. That’s why this is news and belongs on rawstory people.

The above comments are what is wrong with america. People bashing and judging people. You may not like or agree with Bush or what his daughter are doing, but take a look around and see what the young of this country are doing,we have women and men the same age as the Bush girls who are over in Iraq by choise as well as those who choose not to go and we have those that are boozing and partying, visit a college campas sometime, but that doesn’t make them bad, that’s what the young do, have fun. God bless America where they can do what they want.

Posted by: Mimi | November 28, 2006, 10:48 am 10:48 am

Why aren’t they in Iraq? Seem to be a lot of 25 year old women in the US Army. They could be doing their bit, fighting for Daddy’s “Great Crusasde.” Maybe driving a humvee through the slums of Baghdad.
A pox on them and their entire family, the criminals.

These girls are 25 and trying to live their lives. They are no different than their party happy father was at their age. These things are hereditary – plus, if you knew your father partied his face off when he was young, would you listen to his advice? Who would? Especially when their father is George Walker Texas Ranger, our illustrious President…
I partied hard when I was 25 years old, but I was a bartender back then and making my own money. I also, funny as it may seem, did volunteer work on a republican State Rep. campaign – and even drove in Dole’s motorcade when he was in Chicago.
If I had the luxury of not working at that age, I would have been doing some serious charity work. I would have been campaigning for the poor and disinfranchised – both in our country and outside. Maybe it wouldn’t be safe for these frivolous little twits to actually do work outside of this country… For anyone who wants to make the point that they are deep, smart and caring girls – save it.
I have lots of friends with lots of money, and most find it very important to be a good custodian of wealth and power. Using it for the good of others, as well as for their own families. These girls are young, but beyond 25 they become as frivolous and ridiculous as Ms. Hilton. They ought to take a few tips from the Kerry daughters, at least they are not so self-important and child-like (even if their father can’t tell a joke!)

I think it’s interesting that John Walker Linn was considered an adult and knew what he was doing ( remember? he was caught in Aphganistan) when sentenced as a traitor; but the Bush twins are just young women growing up and all-as should Jeb’s “kids”- their actions should be excused. I know, being a traitor is far worse than being a couple of nimcapoops; but it’s just strange how we judge.

The thing that makes this a story, in my humble opinion, is the lack of concern for those around the women. It isn’t just that Jenna is in danger. The secret service is in danger. The people standing in the way are in danger. It’s her job to respect that. And what happens at this point if she gets hurt or if one of the secret service people get her protecting her?
A police officer just died in Honolulu protecting the president. It was his job and I’m sure he was honored to do it. But to die because Jenna doesn’t want to go home? Give me a break.

Mirror,
Despite the fact that Mr. Bush shirked his National Guard commitment, and that Presidential offspring are notoriously exempt from military service: Chelsea Clinton was fifteen years old when American troops were deployed as part of a NATO peacekeeping mission to stop the genocide taking place in Bosnia.
Conversely, the twins were, and remain prime enlistment candidates for the amoral and illegal war launched by their father.
SAVE DARFUR. NOW!

I’ve got oxygen canisters if anyone needs a shot of O2 after all the hyperventilating. Conspiracy theories (and general stupidity) are apparently the indiminishable resources of the 21st century. And you, my people, appear to be sitting on the motherlode. Congratulations.

They’re only down there so that they’ll know they can still visit a cosmopolitan city with European flair while their Dad and Grandpa hide out on the 60,000 acres they just bought in Paraquay. The post-war crime problem is being dealt with pro-actively.

Jenna and Barbara Bush, the twin daughters of President Bush have ignored a ‘strong suggestion’ from the United States embassy in Argentina to leave early due to security issues and concerns the two could upstage the new US Ambassador, Anthony Wayne.
The pair have been constantly in the headlines. An Argentinean tabloid claims the two girls have been seen running nude in the hotel they are staying in. Earlier one of them had her purse and phone stolen while being protected by the secret service.
More security concerns were raised when a producer from the ABC News network was able to walk unimpeded into the hotel where the twins are staying and converse with Barbara as she checked her emails while Jenna sat nearby.

I have dibs on the “fact” that one of the daughters, while in S. America, signed papers in Paraguay having to do with preparing the families place of exile.

Posted by: Yanna | November 28, 2006, 9:06 pm 9:06 pm

The real story here is that the purse/cell phone theft could just as easily been their replacements with a destructive device. With this type of dereliction there is NO SUCH THING as Homeland “Security”.

I agree, these two are costing Tax payers money and putting the Secret Service officers in the way of danger. Their 25 year olds for Lord’s Sake…
One goes and the other stays? What the hell, now we need more Secret Service officers to protect them in both locations?
Come home girls.

Really frightening, the caliber of comments made here by Americans. So sick of the anti-Bush mentality. Bet 90% could not name the members of the President’s cabinet without help. These comments are from people who are enjoying bashing two young girls, one of which has a job in Panama and obviously was visiting her sister for their birhtday get-together. Sorry to inform you lefties but only according to the ‘liberal’ media do half of Americans not support the War on Terror.
The liberal media in this country is totally responsible for the anti -Bush campaign…you people believe anything that is spoon fed you everynight on the Clinton News Network…now admit it! The drivel here speaks for itself…this country is in serious danger from being brain washed so easily. President Bush sent soldiers from a voluntary army to Iraq based on the evidence seen by ALL members of Congress. Bad intelligence was the result of the Clinton adminisration not allowing the intelligence community to do their job. Seek the truth before you spout off a mantra of gibberish such as the comments above.

It really is news. Not as important as what is happening to our troops in the occupation of Iraq, but it is news.
As far as careers for the First Twins–I seem to recall that, a couple of years ago, Jenna was going to be a teacher. I have yet to see evidence of her career progress in education, though, which may be a relief to the parents of those children who would be her students.
Still, though–if they’re going to go running around nude in public, they should at least do so as professional entertainers–i.e. dancers. That, at least, would be honest work.

Posted by: evil non-twin | November 29, 2006, 7:49 pm 7:49 pm

les,
Do you really think these young women should be sent to Iraq because of who their father is? That’s pretty un-America, wouldn’t you say? So, if one of your parents robbed a bank, you should have to suffer the consequence and serve prison time? Or if one of your parents were a politician with unpopular policies, you should suffer the fallout? Taking out your anger over the Iraq situation on two young women who didn’t choose their Dad and have nothing to do with America foreign policy is petty and cowardly.
With your passion, you could do a lot better than embittering yourself towards two young women whose only crime is being born. Oh yeah, and they’re probably not the only twenty-somethings in the U.S. who like to have fun and “party.” Just a guess.

what is wrong with all of you. THey are 25 yrs. old. Single, no kids–they can do what ever they want. just because they are living their lives like most 25 yr old single, child-less people do, doesn’t mean that they don’t care what is going on in Iraq. You don’t know what they spend there money on (yes they do have jobs) so you can’t judge them. Their young adults. I say, let them have their fun. Too soon we are tied down to all the stress of the adult world, let them live a little. Sounds like most of you are jealous and don’t want to admit it. GROW UP. And let them stay young for as long as they want to. Life catches up to us way to soon. If I was them I’d be living it up too. Once we have kids, we look at life WAY differently. They don’t have kids, let them have their freedom and stop judging them so much. And as for them not “joinging the military”, why aren’t you?

girls might lost or not lost their phone, it is their problem and not the biggest one.
millions of people lost their things every day, so why G. Bush’s kids should be an axception?EXCEPTION?
and G.Bush himself has absolutely nothing to do with this.
