New Zawahri Videotape Criticizes Bush’s Plan for Iraq
A new videotape message by al Qaeda’s No. 2, Ayman al Zawahri, in which he reacts to Bush’s plan to send more troops to Iraq, has been distributed for release on the Internet. "So I ask him, why send 20,000 only? Why not send 50,000 or 100,000? Aren’t you aware that the dogs of Iraq are pining for your troops’ dead bodies?" says Zawahri, speaking in Arabic. "If you continue with the policy of Bush and his gang, you will never even dream of peace," he continues. Watch al Zawahri’s Videotape Message. The 14-minute tape, entitled "The Correct Equation," shows Zawahri wearing a black robe and white turban, sitting against a black background and contains English sub-titles. The tape was first discovered by Arabic language specialist Laura Mansfield, who believes the release of the tape is timed to coincide with Pres. Bush’s State of the Union address tomorrow and directed to an American audience. Click Here for Full Blotter Coverage. Zawahri also calls for the release of al Qaeda prisoners held in American jails, including the Blind Sheikh, Omar Abdel-Rahman.

so I guess we got their attention? perhaps this new strategy (of which the surge in troops is just a part) will work… why not 50,000??? careful what you wish for…

He right! Why DON’T we send 100,000 troops? We had 500,000 in desert storm! It’s called “Overwelming force!” We need to end gang violence in Baghdad just like American cities like L.A. They are just a vicious gang. If the KKK were setting off car bombs here, would we pull out?

Let’s see – our enemy’s leader doesn’t like it so we should not do it????
A dear friend’s son is serving in Ramadi, they can not go outside w/o full body amour b/c they take sniper fire regularly from the minarets of a mosque down the street. Seems to me that if we REALLY are in a war, this would not be allowed to continue.
I say have them fight a real war or bring them home tomorrow.

Why do we keep hearing from this second rate Jihadist? Where’s Osama? I suspect he is hiding in a hole similar to Sadam’s!! We need to thank our Government that these crazies are held to spouting their garbage from hiding instead of actually attacking us. I say Hurray for Bush!! This Nation owes him a lot more credit than he is getting. He is the reason the Politically Correct Leftists have the freedom to spout their garbage. While they are attacking him, they should also be thanking him for the freedom to do so. Russ, Beavercreek, OR

Any time you send troops to a country that does’nt want them their your puting the troops in a hard to win situation, just like if a country sent troops here we would harass and bomb them the way they are doing it to us. We must get the majority of the people on our side or we may be in big trouble.

How convenient that, once again, al Queda surfaces before a Bush address. How convenient.

I say let the people of Iraq vote on if they want us their. If they want us to leave lets leave them to fight it out amongst themselves like the’re already doing and not waste one more soldier. Then keep enough special troops around to take out Al Qaeda. That’s who we want anyway.

There has been fighting in that part of the world for thousands of years, I hardly see how the US is going to put an end to it in just a few years. 15% (20,000) more troops won’t help much, either.
Good luck, from Canada

I’m amazed that the above posters even know there’s a war going on since the news is broadcast at the same time as Jerry Springer.
How nice of them to donate the lives of YOUR sons and daughters as well as YOUR paycheck to finance a war that lacks the support and backing of most Americans. Sure, 50,000…why not a couple million? Hey, let’s all just go over there. If “winning” this war correlates directly with possessing a high IQ, we don’t stand a chance!

I say we send the 100,000 he is asking for… to both Iraq and Afganistan. That way he can be found and executed like all the rest of his gang.

Just hear what Ayman al Zawahri is saying. What he is saying is send more heads so there are more heads to take. So what he is saying is that NO MATTER what all they want is our blood. They dont want and can not be civilized people. All they want is more blood more killing and more casualties. Why are we gona give them more American lives???
He is right in saying why 20,000 troops? why not 30,000 troops or 40K. The point is Bush doesnt know how to handle Iraq. He is just coming up with more stupid ways of trying to fix his mess.

Hey why dont we send our gangs to take on their gangs. Hey buddy thanks for telling everyone LA is gang land. It can sometimes be a misleading representation of our beautiful city.

A message like this one is more rhetoric than true threat. What AlQaeda gains in iraq come as a circumstance of us falling victim to this type of propaganda.
Lets just not forget that we are after alqaeda and not iraqi’s, What the hell does Zawarhi care about iraqis?…if he really did care he’d get his garbage out of Iraq and let them them make their own destinys.
Posted by: E Cerna | January 22, 2007, 6:29 pm 6:29 pm
All I can say is why is this man still free to spout his BS.
Although he does appear to have a point. The plan is to embed US troops with the Iraqis. Well I think a fortaste of this occured the other day in Hamadi when 5 brave US troops were killed whilst the Iraqi troops were not targeted. The build up has not even been complete and already the plan is falling apart.
I feel sorry for the sons and daughters about to be sacrificed on the alter of Haliburton’s profit margin.
Bush junior wants to out do his Daddy, and he will do it at the price of your sons and daughters, whilst his daughters party in Florida.
The really ironic thing is, Bush junior was voted in by the security moms, the very moms who are now standing in Arlington Cemetery.

My son served this country with bravery in Iraq…as all these military personel have. My querrie is why not bring them all home to serve in our airports, train stations, land and sea borders, and any other imaginable outlet for terrorism on our own soil?

We need more CIA and special forces people in Iraq and Afghanistan rooting out these scum bags. Sending in more uniformed people just gives the terrorist snipers more targets. We need to focus on getting inside of these groups and unravelling them. These groups are nothing more than gangs and infiltration is the only way to dismantle a gang.

I am sure the American’s who say lets go over there and kill them all and send more troops have not lost a love one due to this mess yet. A lot of people have lost their lives over politics, religion, and money with this whole mess. With the amount of money, lives and hell just stress this war has caused and for what? All the troops Bush has sent over there and all the people, both terrorist and innocent that have been killed, does not make me feel safer over here.
The soldiers in Iraq are not fighting for our Freedom and way of life, they are fighting to force our way of life on others so our goverment and big businesses can pass on the true evils of this country. Greed and Money
How can you call it Democracy when realistically the voters will only have two realistics options for who can when (D and R) and those poeple are put in those positions with Money.
May God Bless this country, get our people home, and worry about our poeple for once!

If the United States would only compel Israel to allow the creation of a Palestinian state in the Gaza strip and the West Bank, that alone would pull 90 percent of the steam out of the unruly situation in all of the Middle East. As long as the Jewish lobby is in control of our foreign policy there will be nothing but trouble in the Middle East.

yeah, why not 100,000? that’s more targets for the enemy. they are picking us off. why not special ops? and we do some picking off of our own.i have a nephew over there in this mess.and so was i whay back when…i say its senseless.they will fight until Christ returns no matter if we remain or stay……power to the people bow heads lets pray….

A Wash DC based organization called ‘The SITE Institue’ claimed that it had ‘intercepted’ this tape. How is it that a private US based organization can ‘intercept’ a video message from the second most wanted terrorist in the world without ANYONE knowing about it, including the FBI, CIA, or military, and BEFORE any ‘terorist’ posted it online?? WHAT is going on here? What kind of fraud is being perpetrated here? The SITE Institue needs to be put under immediate investigation.

There no fixing anything in any of the countries. This ‘war’ will continue until Jesus returns and when He does, those who picked up the sword, shall perish by the sword. Instead of all the hatred, we would do one another much good by ‘loving’ our neighbors as we love ourselves.

Repent and give your hearts to the Lord.’Those who pick up the sword shall perish by the sword’ Read your bibles. We will all have to give an account for our deeds when Jesus returns…

I’d like to say something to al Zawahri, We Americans will NOT give up for your bull crap, nor any of your scum terrorist will ever be released. If you want them released, I will tell you what, turn your smelly butt in and maybe we’ll consider on releasing them, but on a second thought, we should’nt.
Al Zawahri will be next after Saddam to be hung! With just enough of our troops, will be spreading out like wildfire and they will finally catch this nonsense trash dead or alive! I pray for our troops and hope they catch him for sure.

It’s amazing how Ayman al Zawahiri or Osama bin Laden keep popping up just before major political events in the United States. Laura Mansfield says the release of the tape appears to coincide with Bush’s State of the Union Address. That may be very true, but we must ask, released by who? Are we seeing the real Zawahiri or the digitally manipulated, state of the art Zawahiri? Are is the real Zawahiri even who we think he is? Food for thought. Things are often not what they seem on the surface.

Just like Vietnam. The US Military hamstrung by complicated rules of engagement for political gain at home.
The liberal media and leftist crazies are complicit and responsible for most of this mess. They love making the U.S. loose.
bin Laden figured this system out and is using it against us.

Look, if all the chickenhawk armchaiir warriors like Russ Beaverbrook Oregon and others, all the little neocons like Jonah Goldberg and Peter Beinart, all the slobbering pseudo military historians like Frederick Kagan and his brother, all the Bush family young adults, would just sign up, we wouldn’t have a problem raising an army and marine troop level of about 85,000-100,000 or even more. All the hardy patriots who love attacking liberals just like the radical Islamists do should go over to Iraq and Afghanistan, and fight. Not pimp that country of its resources and impose right-wing laws that screw the citizenry like the Coalition Provisional Authority under Bremer did, but volunteer to serve in the military. They could even be the very person who lays a bead and a bullet on Zawahiri himself. Let’s see if, as Kagan says, they take up the president’s “sacrifice.” Meanwhile he’s trying to take decent health care away from hardworking middle class and working class people and give ANOTHER TAX BREAK TO THE FREAKING RICH!!!

these al qaeda types are not going away when we leave iraq. they are not going away even when we overrun them in every part of the world. the ideology that spawns them is prevalent in a majority of the population of the world. the only thing preventing a super majority and touching off a real world war is the suppression of religion by the government of the most populous country on earth(irony) and they too are posturing themselves as an enemy of our culture while taking our money. YET should we not fight them on their turf? of course we should and all you lefties with your heads in the sand can spout all your fake sympathy for the families of the fallen and still you will fear these fanatics when they blow up your neighborhood. Dont think the press is accurate about the proportion of fanatics to merely devout muslims. the living conditions in the parts of the world that are strongly muslim are so poor as to foment dissatisfaction that breeds the militant types like maggots on garbage. The balance is shifting and if anything the bush admin is doing too little too late. I dont say this as a doomsayer, no i am going to work tomorrow and support my family as usual but perspective is not balanced in the discourse since Everyone underestimates the enemy.

What i believe is that, they should start in with peace and sending more troops will definitely ignite the situation, peace must be our motive and not terrorism in any case from both sides.

put enough troops in iraq and afganastan to wipe out these insurgents and terrorists once and for all.let the military fight without one hand tied behind their back like the government did to our troops in vietnam.i am proud of all our troops in every war we ever fought.use enough troops to win this once and for all or get them out.

More proof that the US should have invaded and taken down our “ally” Paksitan instead of waging the pointless Iraq war.
You know, Pakistan, the “ally” that forged a truce with AQ? The ally with the working nukes. The ally that’s a bullet away from AQ *owning* those nukes.
Somehow, we seem bent on national suicide…

The bottom line is that the Bush haters are willing to sell out our country by wanting to lose the war in Iraq. Democratic Party like John Kerry is flip flopping and no one is calling them on it. And Scott, I agree with you %100

According to the Borgen project, it costs a mere $19 billion annually to end global hunger. Now compare that with the salaries our our defense personnell, and what we have spent in Iraq so far. The Millennium Development Goals go beyond silliness and should be treated that way by the governments that agreed to them across the globe (us included). Tell congress to start focusing on soemething that could leave a lasting positive impact.

bin laden is dead! he’s dead! How else to explain no video for so long?…and no message to his people? I don’t buy that the audio tapes are authentic, or that he stays in hiding to avoid facial recognition software. he is hiding in a shallow grave. al-qaeda’s number 2 is now number 1. If obl does show his face though, after all this time, I’ll bet that it means trouble for us.
