One Year Later
Below is an excerpt from Charlie’s closing note on tonight’s broadcast: This date of January 29th is an important one to those of us at ABC News. It was a year ago today that Bob Woodruff — who was anchoring this broadcast — was injured by an IED explosion in Iraq. And almost died. A number of times. Great military medical care saved Bob and his cameraman Doug Vogt. But even after surviving, Bob’s prognosis was problematical from the moment he woke up. So many of you have asked how Bob has been doing in this past year. The answer is great. His speech, his memory, his appearance, his spirit… Are all on the mend. And his progress? Well you’ll see it when Bob comes back on air at the end of next month. He’s working on a program about his injuries. Bob is in the newsroom almost every day. It is great to have him there. It will be great to have him back on air next month. (Above, Bob working on February’s program.) Previously: January 30, 2006: Reflections from the Woodruff Team in Baghdad

I am so glad that Mr. Woodruff is doing so well.
He is one of my favorite reporters at abc news and I do miss him on the nightly news.
I am glad that he will be doing a report on what he went through and I am especially grateful that because of his unfortunate injuries and near death experience, something good will come from this. You see, God did have a plan and Bob was his tool. God Bless and Keep you in His Care.

We’re thinking of you, Bob, and your family.

It’s great to hear that Bob Woodruff has returned to work at ABC News. Since I’m in Hong Kong, I see ABC World News Tonight in the mornings because of the time difference. Bob’s dedication inspires me to never give up, even though I have chronic disabilities. If he can make it through an IED explosion, I can deal with a minor physical disability.
He is an inspiration and epitomizes leadership. Through this ordeal, which almost ended tragically, he has shown that money doesn’t have to be the reason why you come to work every day. I was almost in tears when I heard ABC’s Elizabeth Vargus say at the end of 1 ABC news cast: “Finally, our colleague Bob Woodruff.. What an honor last night..he says he is eager to return to the job he loves”.

Dear Bob, I am so glad to hear that you are returning to work and so thankful that you are healing and coming along so well. Makes me think that your mission on Earth is not yet done, and that God still has some work here for you to do. Which, in my opinion, is a great thing. Am looking forward to seeing you back on ABC News. I love Charley Gibson, but it just hasn’t been the same without you. Please, please, please take care and God bless. God has been truly good!

My husband and I have a special interest in watching this show. He suffered a TBI in June of 05 and in no way is ready to return to work. He is very interested in seeing Bob’s road to recovery. It’s amazing to see someone who suffered such a servere injury be where he is today. It’s very inspiring.

I just want to drop a line to tell you how wonderful it is to see your health and spirit grow stronger all the time. It’s wonderful to see that you will be returning to television soon. I want to send Bob a special THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for making the special, To Iraq and Back. Many people have forgotten our injured men and women out there serving our country, and coming from a family with many in the service now and in the past, it warms my heart to see someone care so much about what’s really going on. I wish that the veterans were getting the care that they deserve. It’s the least we can do for them, they have sacrificed so much for us, so that we may have the freedom we have. God bless our troops and God bless you Bob, take care.

Beside the fact that I’m regular viewer to the broad cast of your news with Charley Gibson I’m an Iraqi who is resident in Qatar. The other day I saw the report of Dan Hares about the Iraqi boy who with your help made it to the U.S when I saw the report I was happy for that wonderful kid, happy to know that there are still some people on this plant who care ….
But than as I was going to bed I got this awful feeling at first I didn’t know why but every thought I had led to this report I remembered the boy’s face when he left Iraq how happy he was and then I remember my own face when I left Iraq it was filled with pain so I wondered: is it become that great to leave your own country I mean the obvious answer is “hell yeah” under these circumstances..
Now I am confused should I thank you –the American – for saving this kid life from a certain end or should I blame you for the lose of the other thousand??
Don’t get me wrong I hated Sadam Hessen and his corrupted regime and I’ve always defended the war that librated us but I’m sick of the question people would come up and ask me as soon as they know that I’m Iraqi and it is: don’t you think that Sadam was better for you Iraqis then the current situation???

Typical liberal media, I wasn’t sure about Palin, but after the crap Gibson threw at her, I am going to vote for her.
