Muckraker Reporter Joins ‘The Blotter’ at ABC News
Justin Rood leaves his post as a Washington reporter for the investigative Web blog, TPM Muckraker.com, to join the Brian Ross & the Investigative Team at ABC News this week.
Rood has reported extensively on recent congressional scandals, including exclusive details of the parties and poker games attended by lobbyists and Washington officials, including convicted former Congressman Randall "Duke" Cunningham.
Rood was the first to disclose details of the closely held staffing of Dick Cheney’s White House office, revealing it to be one of the largest in recent times, including 23 national security aides.

Before joining Muckraker, Rood covered homeland security and intelligence agencies for "Congressional Quarterly" and "Government Executive" magazine, where he broke stories on Pentagon domestic spying efforts and failures of the Department of Homeland Security to properly investigate terrorist threat of white supremacist and violent anti-abortion groups.

Rood is a great reporter, he did some truly excellent work over at TPMM. I’m sure we’ll see lots of good reporting from him here at The Blotter as well.

For pete’s sake. There’s not ENOUGH liberal journalists at ABC. You need MORE?
One particular quote of Justin Rood: “I’m at war with the Department of Homeland Security.”
We are at war against enemies who want us dead. He is at war with a department whose intent is to protect us.
Objectivity at ABC news… Slowly in decline.

Homeland security
Really, how are they doing on the Ports, Illegal immigration, which is also border protection, and FEMA?

Whats the matter, MoveOn.org wasn’t hiring? I love their inciteful comments. And yes GWB and War is stupid. We need to let the terrorists win in peace.

Oh yes the DHS is doing a heck of job spending money without results. Every patriot should be screaming at their Reprentatives and Congressmen until the department actually shows some results.
IMO we would be much better off TODAY if all the money spent on Iraq were spent here in the states for better technology, more police and better training.

It is the job of the government to spend money with no results.
All you have to do is go to the nearest elementary school to see that.
I just hope Mr. Rood goes after the liberals with the same vengeance as he does with the republicans.
Somehow, I doubt that will happen. He is just another party hack.

Mr. Rood produced some good stuff during his lower profile days at GovExec. He got deep in the trenches on issues that few partisans cared about.

one source-
He DID NOT get in the trenches.
Even INSINUATING that he did “get in the trenches”, or to use this term loosely like you did, is insulting to EVERY ONE of our men and women who are IN THE TRENCHES being killed every day for this liberal move-on’r to say the ridiculous things he says.
He’s not a hero. He writes words. It’s that simple. He did not “fight”, or “get in the trenches” or “go to war”, for anything or anyone in his life.
He writes words. There is no courage in writing words, regardless of what you may think.
Unless he is IN the warzone, which I doubt he has ever been, if he has, I humbly apologize for any false assumptions I may have made.

… whose intent is to protect us?
Laughed when I read that line. I hope they don’t “protect” us like they did in New Orleans, with the armed help of Blackwater Security.
“You’re doing a great job Brownie.”
