DOJ: Crooked Congressman Reports to Prison

From a U.S. Department of Justice press release: "On March 1, 2007, at approximately 10:22 A.M., Robert W. Ney, Register Number 28882-016, surrendered to the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) at Morgantown, West Virginia, for service of his federal sentence.  He was sentenced in United States District Court, District of Columbia, to a 30-month sentence for Conspiracy and False Statements.  FCI Morgantown is a minimum security level institution with approximately 1300 inmates.  It is located three miles south of Morgantown near the West Virginia/Southwest Pennsylvania border." Ney is the only lawmaker to be convicted in connection to the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal.  For more of the Blotter’s coverage of the Abramoff scandal, click here.

Good…this guys looks like a dirtbag. To bad he’s not going to a real prison, where he can live the thug life with some of his constituents…

Isn’t it interesting that the Republican congressmen who make mistakes go to prison. The Democrats get acolades, make excuses, and get re-elected. I wonder why that might be so? Perhaps it’s because the Republicans hold people accountable when in charge? Clinton actually was impeached, but none held him accountable even though he was also disbarred for perjury as the top law enforcement official of the land.
I suggest some serious thinking about this…

Ger, I laughed when you said Republicans hold people accountable when they are in charge. Where have you been from 2000-2006 when the GOP was corrupting our country with no oversight?

When do we see the Democrat with the $90,000 in marked “cold” cash make his way into the Crowbar Hotel? Oh I forgot- he’s a Democrat!

Girard, what is your “excuse” for Louisiana Congressman that is allegedly suspected of taking bribes. Is that considered a “mistake.” And is it also a “mistake” that he had $90,000 in his freezer. (I hope I have 90K show up in my freezer…magically) I understand former President Clinton was acquitted, but let the facts be made known he was put through the impeachment process, and the biggest point is that HE LIED which is a “crime”. I am not condoning having an affair, but what I am saying if you make a “mistake” come out about don’t cover it up and commit a “crime” by covering it up.

Democrats prosecute their own!? Like William Jefferson (D-La). . . Found with 1,000′s of dollars in money your freezer. . . .go to jail. . . Nope. . . .get appointed to the Homeland Security committee by the House Speaker. . .Absolutely

Exactly, am I seeing another double standard here?

Ha ha. I live in morgantown. You should see this “prison”. It’s right by a main road (857) and you can walk around on the grounds. It looks like a resort. Tennis courts, swimming pool, basketball courts, and tasteful brick “cabins” with forest green accents. I agree with the first poster, send this guy to a real prison, and let the inmates know that he squandered taxpayer money that could have been used to upgrade the prison… then listen to him squeal…

I think you all are a bunch of idiots. Here you are arguing over who has more criminals, Republicans or Democrats. How about all of the above. None of these people are qualified to be running our government. Nothing and I mean nothing will change in this country until people like you wake up, and change what needs to be changed. Yea, like that is going to happen. Farewell USA it’s been nice to know ya.

It doesn’t matter to me whether the criminal in question is a Republican or Democrat. Everyone who claims to serve the public interest should be held to a higher standard.
Having said that, I’m not as interested in the guy that hides money in the frozen peas or cheats on his wife. I’m interested in the guy (Ney) that takes millions from corporations and suddenly becomes an advocate of an agenda that is uniquely unhelpful to his actual constituents.

AL, weighted words like, “None of these people are qualified to be running our government…” truly show a real an ignorance on your part. You are definitely letting it be made known that you are getting your ideology form the leftist media that would have you believe that “ALL” are corrupt. Sir not all of the men and woman serving our country, in position of leadership, are corrupt, and it is about time that you start realizing this. You truly show an ignorance in that area, and it is people like you that need to wake up and understand that supporting the people that we have elected into position need our help with prayers, and if you do not like something they are doing it is your responsibility to send letters to your elected officials.

Sorry Steve. I agree with AL. There are a lot of crooks in the Federal and State governments. The honest people there choose to look the other way-therefore they have tainted themselves too. Time for a little revolution.
