Clinton Announces Campaign Song in Sopranos-Themed Video

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Give Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton an A-plus for production value — and pop-culture street cred.

In announcing her campaign’s theme song on hillaryclinton.com, the Clinton camp has recreated much of the final scene in the last episode of "The Sopranos." The now-famous Journey song is playing, Bill Clinton munches on carrot sticks — instead of onion rings — and Chelsea Clinton is said to be trying to parallel park outside, a la Meadow Soprano.  Watch the video HERE.

The Clinton camp even got Vince Curatola — "Johnny Sack" himself — to make a cameo, shooting Bill and Hillary a menacing look.

"Everybody in America wants to know how it’s going to end," the former president says, as Senator Clinton flips through the choices on the tableside jukebox.

"Ready?" she says — and the screen abruptly cuts to black. . . .

For the record, the winner is: "You and I," by Celine Dion. Probably not Tony’s first choice, but still, a brilliant way to unveil a campaign song.

I just watched it, beautifully done. Great sense of humor. I voted for a different song but I do still like the song chosen. She’s reached a whole new demographic with this video. A few friends of mine who were not leaning towards her just changed their minds in her favor…

I loved it – especially the look on Bill’s face when he sees the carrots. Lord knows the country needs a laugh.

Those who base their voting choice on a theme song are hopeless.

I just watched the video and I think they did a great job. I agree with Jerry though, shouldn’t base vote on a choice of song. Fortunately, that’s not what won her my vote!

Not surprising, but I’d say telling as the Clintons are part of the Bush/Clinton mafia.

This says more about what is wrong with this country than anything I’ve yet seen. A presidential candidate glorifying a show about one of the most violent and decadent characters ever.
We really are in big trouble…

Why would someone vote for a person for president when she can’t even control her marriage let alone a country.. ?
Get real.. vote for someone who can do the job.. not someone because her hubby/swinger was the president..

Too bad Bill can’t run again…he still has a lot of personal charisma…

Classic. I wish more pols (John McCain, Rudy Guliani, Joe Biden) didn’t take themselves so seriously.

Gotta love those Clintons. I’m very put off by the entire tone of the upcoming presidential election; just so little dignity throughout. I am, however, 64 years old and realize I might be a little “lost in the 60′s” so I’ll just give them, the Clintons, credit for adding at least some spark and zest to this campaign.

Dave: Glorifying violence has been going on for decades if not centuries. The vocal minority making demands like fines for Janet Jackson second showing of a nipple while saying nothing about violence. Blame the prudes that focus on sexuality for the excessive violence.
BTW: Saying that this video is glorifying violence is dishonest to say the least.

This is not about Bush, this is about Clinton. I won’t vote for her, but I sure do like her style. I’m glad it’s still early enough in the election that the democrats and republicans can have a little fun with thier campaigns. It lets us see another side of them. We all know it will all turn ugly all too soon.

I thought is was a fantastic video, congrats to the Clinton campaign! Several items to note:
1) Anyone who bases their vote on a song is an idiot. Jerry, I take it you haven’t been voting long.
2) The Bush/Clinton “mafia” is a dynasty, not a mafia. Please review a dictionary, Tina. And you probably don’t live in America, so let me paint for you a picture of American society: we tend to be ga-ga over those in the lime light. Paris Hilton. Need I say more?
3) Ricky and Jon, kudos. Dave is an idiot.

- Fishbite
I won’t vote for her because she coted to authorize the war. She’s a fence sitter waiting to see what direction the wind blows before taking a stand. She’s more of the same corporate shills. Bill did some good, but he sold the US down the river with NAFTA and all the free trade crap the corporations wanted for cheaper labor. THE US needs a leader to take us out of the nightmare of the fascist regime – like FDR did.

There’s so much going on in the world to way down are hearts- it’s nice when you can lighten up a little -smile for a moment and be reassured that Hillary has her heart in the right place and she isn’t just alot of talk- she acts. She’s done more good in the past few years than has been done by any other candidate- when she’s in office – she’ll clean it up and put the US back on the map with its head held high!

je po, you hit it on the nail. Sen. Clinton will make a terrific Presidential. Ever since that day when she announced something like, “If George Bush doesn’t get us out of Iraq, when I become President, I will!” That’s when she nabbed me. She sounded tough, like a Com-n-Chief.

FOCUS ON THE GOOD TIMES

I voted for George Bush and i have to say that he has been nothing but a cancer to this Country. Bush has turned his back on the ideals that we hold dear. Americans need to get informed, and take action in 08. So I agree focus on the good times! Im not saying dont pay attention to the world events but we need to focus on fixing this god awful mess that has been created. I’m not saying Hillary is the right choice but lets give her a chance to present her ideas. Heck, we certainly gave Bush that chance and look where it got us! Lets be smart and choose the right individual to run our beloved country!

Posted by: Gabriel | June 19, 2007, 1:20 pm 1:20 pm

Great video… Please anybody that’s basing their vote on a song please get informed before you waste a vote. Also I believe George Bush was the one who raped and Pillaged our Country!!! What kind of name is DARTH CHENEY?

Posted by: George | June 19, 2007, 1:59 pm 1:59 pm

Do you think it’s revealing of Hillary to choice an artist like Celine to represent her campaign? A person who is FAMOUS for her diva demands, very arrogant, and condescending and known to be extremely abusive to her staff and those around her. (including her husband) Both are well known to throw hissy fits too!
And then isn’t it interesting that she would spoof The Sopranos — a family who is glamorized for having no respect for the law and murdering their own friends???
Is there more to this? Is Hillary subconsciously revealing herself?!

Posted by: hklm21 | June 19, 2007, 2:08 pm 2:08 pm

Like it or not, she’s going to be your Commander-n-Chief come January 2009. And by the way, instead of sitting in front of the tv, watching shows like The Sopranos, complaining about the demoralizing of America, why don’t you do something about it, like, oh, I don’t know, volunteer for a good cause, or, God forbid, register to vote.

we need a strong leader

Posted by: mardtanha | June 19, 2007, 2:27 pm 2:27 pm

I say focus on rebuilding America and this god awful mess Bush’s administration has created. I would like to give Hillary the chance to give and present her ideas. People are choosing not to vote for her based on a song. People are also dissecting and are bashing her because she made a spoof on The Sopranos. Give me a break! People need to get informed before they VOTE and choose the right person for the job and that doesn’t necessarily mean its Hillary. Lets give all the Candidates an opportunity to show us what ideas they have. Let us move forward and choose the right person to fix this current mess and rebuild America!

I must dissent from the consensus. The Sopranos parody is already old hat; Jon Stewart and others already have done it. Plus, it’s so self-congratulatory, the notion that we are waiting with baited breath to learn Hillary’s campaign song. To top it off, the song could not be worse!

Posted by: leon russell | June 19, 2007, 2:51 pm 2:51 pm

Hillary is going to make an awesome 44 (for Dave, that’s the 44th President)! Interesting note, I think Air Canada uses that song for their theme song. Outsourcing at its finest. You gotta love Americans and their irony!

Hi everyone. I haven’t seen this video nor have I ever watched the Soporanos. I was reading through the post and it hit me that it is always one party fiercly against the next – instead of working together. I’ve never understood why one party cannot respect another’s opinions without insults. I have a lot of respect for Hillary Clinton, I have a lot of respect for George Bush. Matter of fact, I have a lot of admiration and respect for any administration that is making decisions for our Country. I raised my children to NOT disrepect our President no matter what party he (or possibly She in the future) represented.

I suspect many an expensive manicure has been ruined by folks who voted for george w…not once…but twice. Said expensive manicures have been ruined by chipping and peeling bush/cheney stickers from the bumpers of their gas guzzling SUVs You know its true! You used to see lots of them. Now they have disapeared. But we know who you are. You voted for the ones who sent my son and his best friend to your war…the liars’ war. My son and his best friend died for you…and your SUV. You know. Because you already ruined your manicure. But guess what! I am a cop. You voted to give me all I need to know about you.

Good grief! This video was a waste of time and pointless. It just proves that the Clinton’s have millions of dollars to waste on pretending to know how to act. But maybe they are proving a point–Americans want actors, not leaders.

This was ridiculous. She is desperate and pathetic.

The Clinton campaign, like any other compaign, has beautifully pulled the wool over your naive little eyes. This video wasn’t about a song, this video wasn’t about the candidate’s views, and it certainly wasn’t about the fleecing of America. (That last one might have gone over your heads, but trust me, I know what I’m talking about when it comes to bimbos like you.) This video was about dialogue. 42 people have commented about this video clip of Hillary’s. Some have liked it, some not so much. She could care less either way. What she does care about, as would any candidate, is that we are talking about it, and the media has given it free are time. God bless America, Hillary Clinton, and the fools like you who help her get elected. January 21, 2009. The winds of change are coming.

Posted by: Rebecca | June 20, 2007, 6:53 am 6:53 am

I actually liked the video and I think she made a good choice for the song – But I would not vote for her – let’s see
Bush 1, Clinton 1, Bush 2, Clinton 2 — Will Chelsea be old enough by the end of this – are we building a “kingdom”? We need someone new, someone with unquestionable integrity, someone who, even if we don’t agree with all his/her ideas, we at least respect them for Doing something and we know it is done not for the special interest but because he/she believes it is best for th country. Hillary has too much baggage and I don’t think she can be trusted – which upsets me because I would love to be able to vote for a woman. But I want a woman who will be gthe best president we’ve ever had and I don’t believe Hillary’s the one.

44 comments, stakes are high for the president who would be king (or queen) come Jan 2009. Hill, you go, girl! Be number 44!

Hillary in the Oval Office; Slick Willy in the Bedroom. Two for One and a lot of political Experience. More Bang for the Buck! Sounds good to me.

Posted by: Larry | June 20, 2007, 8:08 pm 8:08 pm

Very cheesy and something that only Hillary could have gotten away with. If Guliani (the other New York candidate) had made such a video, he would have been crusified by the press for “glorifying” organized crime. I expected many in the press to catch this connection, but I guess Hillary gets preferential treatment. The Soprano’s are fictional characters, but to have a candidate running for the Presidency pretending to be a part of the mafia, is a contradiction for those on the left who advocate gun control as a way to decrease murder. Where do we draw the line and with whom?

Bill Clinton`s charisma? You could see he was really at Ba Da Bing in spirit.
