The threat from terrorism in the 21st Centuary is the reason why we have to win in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Democratic Party acts as if we are still in the pre 9/11 era, it is a war the West can not afford to lose. It is good that the USA has a President that will fight the good fight.

Reading these comments is an incredible disappointment. Some commentary is so one sided that one has to believe that these authors who take an extreme position on either side only seek information that supports their worldview. But the conspiracy theorists won’t bother to read anything that undermines their beliefs and reveals their worldviews as the result of traumas over poor toilet training by their parents. For example, let’s say the government wants more control over it’s citizens. However, people are not willing to give up their civil liberties. So… 1. The government creates a problem (i.e. 911). 2. There is mass panic and a public outcry for the government to step-in and solve this problem. 3. The government is happy to step-in and “solve” the problem but it will involve taking away our civil liberties in order to fight “terrorism” [which they created in the first place]. And viola! Everyone is happy.
Everyone is happy until the government wants to accomplish something different. Then the process will begin again…creating a problem, responding to the public outcry, and then steping-in to solve the problem. I find many of the comments here disturbing, reflecting as they do a complete lack of understanding of our enemies. I ask all of you who believe in Bush conspiracy theories, and the benignness of OBL’s brand of Islam, to do two simple things:
1) Look up the philosophy and history of Wahabism (the violent offshoot of Islam that OBL and company believe in), and
2) Do some reading on-line at the website of the American Congress for Truth, an organization started by a Lebanese Christian who experienced first-hand the loving kindness of Wahabist Islam.
If, after doing this rather short and painless research you still feel that our government somehow managed to pull off an incredibly complicated conspiracy, which also requires you to believe that none of the 200+ people (at minimum) needed to make it work have any desire to be rich or famous, there is nothing more to be said. Just try not to hurt yourselves when you eventually run face-first into hard reality … it’s obvious you’re not used to it.

Obama is right on point. He is willing to negotiate where that is useful, and if that fails he will take action where needed. Contrast this to the Bush Administration who is only now negotiating with North Korea, Iran, and Syria, and after saying they would not negotiate. And, Bush for all his bluster does not have the confidence to go in where it matters. As for Bin Ladin being dead, I have a general feeling this is the case. But, no one really knows.

The extremist left wing comments about how Bush is stupid, OBL is paid by Bush, Bush orchestrated the 911 tragedy, blah, blah, blah, likely come from one of three types of people: 1) under 24 year olds that are searching for a way to relive the “fight the man” movement of their parent’s 1960′s & 1970′s or 2) 24 and over and living in squalor as a result of their own ineptitude or 3) individuals that see every glass in their life and others lives as half-full. Pathetic, isn’t it?

I’m sadly not surprised with the nonsense I’m seeing here. The 9/11 “truthers” are genuinely convinced the attacks were “an inside job”. Reason and common sense has completely left these people. They simply take any discrepancy between eyewitness accounts and state this as “proof”. They look at video of the buildings falling down and claim this proves controlled demolitions because the buildings fell…well…down. Some even believe no plane ever hit the towers, that they were actually missiles digitally made to look like planes by the media (on live TV no less) and that anyone who was interviewed who says they saw a plane live was a plant to further the conspiracy.
Anyone who wants to believe in conspiracy can “prove” said conspiracy with a leap of faith. These same people generally believe that JFK, RFK, and MLK were all killed by the CIA, that area 51 houses many space aliens, that any future terror attack against the U.S. will be perpetrated by the U.S. and that Bush plans on staying in office beyond ’08 by declaring martial law and canceling the elections.
In the old days, these folks were relegated to mental institutes or, at least, late night radio broadcasts by Art Bell. With forums like this the asylum has become mainstream.

We can’t live in fear but due to our culture now in America, due to our selfishness, due to widespread liberalism mentality, due to failed Clinton and Bush administrations with security, and especially the Bush adminstration in general, we very well might be waking up to a terrorist attack that far exceeds 9-11 soon. And if that happens, the whole world changes, the whole economy and worldwide economy changes, and the way we go about our daily lives changes forever. The problem with the Bush administration is that they are npot fighting either the Afghanistan or Iraq war to win.
In order to defeat the Muslims terrorists, and the regrouping Taliban and Al-Qaeda, and the drug warlords in Afghanistan, and stop the terrorists and ethnic warfare in Iraq, most military experts believe it would take three times as many troops as we have depolyed in both of those countries. Is it real – possibly or is that likely. Are OBL terrorist in this Country, in my opinion, yes and they have always been here, pre/post the 9/11 tragedy. So while many of you have your passionate opinions regarding many topics surrounding media involvement, the President, the war, oil, religion, and so forth – the issue for me is “what can our Country do now w/this new information to better protect the USA, and should it be deemed real?” Even it is can’t be verified at this time – why isn’t our Country taking additional measures (beyond 9/11 Commission recommendations), to protect high risk cities, etc. It has already been proven that multiple venues pose a risk (opening for terrorist) that need to be addressed now. Time is not on our side.

All you who think Bush is “infringing” on your rights should take a look at Abraham Lincoln and how he infringed on the rights of Americans during his “administration”, which was a true American dictatorship. It’s a shame that Bush and Co. stopped hunting for Osama and the remnants of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan to focus their attention on Iraq. They had a chance to destroy the central hub of a powerful, multi-national terrorist organisation but decided to move against Saddam.
Any luck on those Weapons of Mass Destruction, btw? Oh, and a couple of empty chemical warheads that were disassembled in the 1990s don’t count.

I don’t know that 9/11 was an inside job but the most compelling arguement I have heard is a parralel to what would be a similar point in history if it were true. Hitler galvanized the country toward war when he destroyed a monument through arsen that was later discovered to be carried out by the nazi’s stategicly. I guess the point is that things like this are not un heard of in history. As far as bush being a great leader……. I feel a true conservative would have been more concerned and proactive defencively by now and I don’t see that on our border’s or docks and all investigations verify as much. I think the idea that a secretive terrorist community who are thought to have pulled of 9/11 staying in Iraq to fight the worlds most elite combat force is just short sighted and almost silly. I would not give them that much credit. It also would not support the findings of huge growth in europe and the middle east of aq. There is not a whole lot to defend the president on his methods. I could have been more supporrtive if I felt that anyone was being held accountable. I know it happens under all presidents and I know it’s happened before, but we deserve better then this and should wxpect as much from them all every time as a standard worth striving for and needing to be upheld. On February 26, 1993 a bomb was detonated in the World Trade Center underground parking lot, killing six U.S. citizens. IRAQI sponsored terrorists planned, financed, executed and carried out that World Trade Center bombing.
The 1993 WTC bombing, took place on the Friday before the two year anniversary of IRAQ’s defeat in Kuwait, which was February 28, 1991. The anniversary in 1993, was a Sunday and few people would have been working at the World Trade Center that day; and IRAQ and the terrorists wanted to maximize the number of American casualties.
During the initial planning of the WTC bombing, Mahmud Abu Halima (who was later convicted for his role in the bombing) was in regular and frequent contact with his uncle Kadri Abu Bakr, who lived in IRAQ and had been a member of a PLO faction allied with SADDAM HUSSEIN.
Shortly after these calls, the mastermind of the bombing, Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, an IRAQI INTELLIGENCE agent, traveled to the United States using travel documents forged in Kuwait during the Iraqi occupation of that country in 1991
Ramzi Yousef arrived in New York on September 1, 1992 using an Iraqipassport and requesting asylum.
On December 31, 1992, he presented photocopies of passports for Abdul Basit at the Pakistani consulate in New York claiming to be Basit and requesting replacement of his “lost” passport. The real Basit was a Pakistani citizen who had moved to Kuwait and disappeared during the Iraqi occupation in August 1990.
IRAQI INTELLIGENCE had access to the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry files and upon information and belief, inserted Yousef’s fingerprints into the file and provided him with photocopies of two older passports from Basit’s file.
This provided Yousef with a means to escape the U.S. two days after the World Trade Center bombing. In fleeing the United States after the bombing,
Yousef fled to Pakistan and was eventually sheltered at an AL QAEDA guesthouse.
He was arrested in February 1995 in Pakistan and extradited to the U.S. for prosecution and was eventually convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing conspiracy

If 9/11 was “not” an inside job, then how did building #7 “fall down”? What about that steal framed building in Madrid that burned for 7 days straight and never collapsed. Open your eyes, ask questions and study the video footage. After that if you still think it just got to hot and the steal “melted”, show me another case in which a steal building collapsed due to fire, and I will eat my words.

Steel warps at high temperatures. Hell, railroad tracks can warp in the heat of the sun (which is why they are gapped). Most modern skyscrapers have their structural steel members coated with a fireproof material (usually a gypsum- cellulose material). The WTC had this protection but it was built in the 1960′s so it probably fell short of the coverage required using today’s standards. Also, structural steel fireproofing is easily damaged by impact which is why it is required to be encased in a harder material (such as gyp board) where it is within reach. Obviously, neither the fireproofing nor the gyp board interior is built to withstand the impact of a fuel laden Jumbo jet so it is reasonable to assume that much of the fire protection was lost at the time of impact. Add to that the fact the floors were supported by trellis type steel members which are notoriously hard to spray with fireproofing and it is not hard to imagine (if you have any experience in the area of construction) to see why the building failed. Each floor is supported by the “primary” beams which transfer the weight of that floor to the columns and down to the footing. What happened was that a failure of the supporting structure (primary beams) of one floor was all that was needed to overload the weight bearing structure — basically it was like having God drop a 20 story building on top of an 80 story building.
As to the pancaking of the building (some kooks say this “proves” it was a controlled demolition) gravity is vector specific. It don’t work sideways here on Earth.
Frankly, if you can show me another case in which a fuel laden Jumbo Jet was flown into a sky-scraper at high speed and the building survived I’d be more impressed with your “theory.”

Global warming is an issue? Without talking about who might possibly be responsible for this horrible event, we must understand what might be happening. My understanding of the issue is that greenhouse gases (mostly in the from of carbon dioxide), are causing the planet to overheat by inhibiting its ability to reject heat to space (or something to that effect). But what are we going to do about it? Hey, I know, let’s reduce our carbon dioxide emissions. Makes sense… except it doesn’t. See, carbon dioxide makes up only about 0.038% of the atmosphere, and the amount we are talking about changing this concenctration is very very very very very small. In most professions involving numbers, whenever you have a small amount, and you multiply it by a really small change, you say it is basically inconsequential and you throw the difference away. For example, the Sin() of a really small number, is essentially that really small number.
Now, I will say this, it is my personal opinion that global warming is nothing but a political scheme aimed at polarizing the people. As such, taxes on carbon emitting activities will rise. But besides that, I don’t pretend to know what the environment will do. In all honesty, I think anyone who claims to have a complete understanding of the dynamic atmosphere(an understanding that is essential to proclaim global trends)should be doubted. I expect and hope, however, that global warming will fade away in the next 10 years, and in the next 20 years, fears of a new, irrevocable ice age will arise.

After reading all of the above, I’m absolutely convinced we’re dying slowly of self-inflicted wounds.

Without a doubt there will be another attack one day. Will the government be able to stop it? NO. They are too worried about how to win elections to be re-elected and how to destroy the other party. To everyone in denial about 9/11…judging by the comments here, many people in this country have doubts about what happened that day. Why doesn’t ABC and others take on this issue directly and consistantly? Why are they afraid to bring this discussion out into the open? Surely they can read the comments here and know that this issue is tearing us apart. So why don’t they take on 9/11 truth directly?

Jon, if in fact any of this did happen, the government wouldn’t have had to actually make it happen. They only needed to activate the proper black ops groups or capable “contractors”, then sit back and allow it to happen. That’s my point exactly. The NYC firefighters and police “owned” the WTC site for weeks, looking for remains or survivors of their buddies. Therefore, we KNOW that there was ABSOLUTELY NO evidence of any “inside job” or demolition at the WTC site. The firefighters would have found DOZENS OF MILES of detonator cord in the rubble. THEY DIDN’T. They found NOTHING — NOTHING to support the 9/11 KOOKS. And they would never have cooperated with any conspiracy that murdered their buddies. However, BY NO MEANS does 9/11 have “the hallmarks of a rougue US military operation.” It has NO such hallmarks. HOWEVER, YOU PROVE MY POINT: Your argument is that you have absolutely no evidence but you SUSPECT something based on APPEARANCES. Perhaps much going on today is simply prep work.
Perhaps mythology has more to do with history than most humans realize.
Perhaps we live in a universe that contains or has contained cherubim, seraphim, nephilim, sphinxes, centaurs, dragons, and more.
Perhaps you have read so called Genesis 6:1-4 and Numbers 13:27-33 in context.
Perhaps beney ha’Elohim (spelling?) had children (who have been called nephilim and giants and titans and more?) with human women before and after a flood of water that covered the earth. Perhaps stuff was taught to humans that helped lead to an increase in violence on earth in days leading up to a flood of water that covered the earth.
Perhaps history is an interesting word and we are living during an interesting time.

I am 100% positive of 2 things so far in this string of comments: 1. Nothing will bring back the towers, or the citizens of the world that died that day; I care who did it, but I and everyone else must work together now to stabilize the corruption happening here; democracy demands revolution to maintain balance; without it the words has no meaning. 2. There will be another attack on our soil.
Do we react like we did on 9/11? Or do we empower ourselves to collect intelligence and use the networking available to us to get the facts straight the first time? E Simon, I don’t think we have to drag the Arab world kicking and screaming into the 21st century. They have embraced technology along with us. Their human rights could use alot of help, where is the UN in that effort? Women are second class citizens there, girls as young as 13 are forced into marriage and, because we don’t want to offend anyone’s religion or state laws, we, as a supposedly civilized world ,allow it. When the UN stops world hunger and helps secure basic human rights for all the world’s citizens, then it can be admired as an institution.

I agree 9/11 should be investigated “again”. This time back to the years of Clinton! And also to the Jimmy Carter years! What was the connection between Carter and the Komeini (misp), of Iran! Remember Carter had the Shaw of Iran overthrown and now we have the radical Islamist in charge threatining the west and supporting “terrorists”! Clinton did nothing but stir-up “hatred” of the world against America by bombing an asprine factory and killing “only” innocent men,women and children! Not “one” terrorist”! To induce fear into the masses is the easiest way to control them. Example: The terrorists are going to get you…hence the “Patriot Act”. This infringes upon the rights of all Americans, yet most do not oppose it, because they “feel” safer. Guess what, your not. The war on terrorism may as well be a war against hurricanes…you can’t organize an effective defense. They are too spread out, and strike randomly. All any of us can do is just continue to live, and be prepared for the worst.
