Exclusive: FBI: Al Qaeda May Strike U.S. Shopping Malls in LA, Chicago
The FBI is warning that al Qaeda may be preparing a series of holiday attacks on U.S. shopping malls in Los Angeles and Chicago, according to an intelligence report distributed to law enforcement authorities across the country this morning. (Click here for full text.) The alert said al Qaeda "hoped to disrupt the U.S. economy and has been planning the attack for the past two years." Law enforcement officials tell ABCNews.com that the FBI received the information in late September and declassified it yesterday for wide distribution. The alert, like similar FBI and Department of Homeland Security terror alerts issued over the past five years at holiday times, raised questions about the credibility of the information. THE BLOTTER RECOMMENDS BlotterMI5: Teen Al Qaeda Recruits, Russian Spies Target Britain Blotter Sneaky Sandals Could Be Next Terror Tool Photos Explosive Footwear Blotter New U.S. Alert for Shoe Bombers Click Here for Full Blotter Coverage. The bulletin acknowledges that U.S. intelligence officers are uncertain as to whether the information is real, and intelligence officers say there is a concern that it could be "disinformation." Law enforcement officials at three different agencies told ABCNews.com the FBI alert was based on a source who has proved reliable in the past. The source reportedly had only "indirect access" to al Qaeda and word of the actual threat came to U.S. intelligence officers "through a lengthy chain" of contacts. With the shopping season approaching, however, the FBI officials decided it was necessary to share the information. For the past few years, jihadist chat rooms have regularly posted comments from anonymous individuals who have suggested or boasted about similar plans to attack such soft targets as shopping malls. "Out of abundance of caution, and for any number of other reasons, raw intelligence is regularly shared within the intelligence and law enforcement communities — even when the value of the information is unknown," said Special Agent Richard Kolko. "In the post-9/11 era, sharing information is our top priority. Al-Qa’ida messaging has clearly stated they intend to attack the U.S. or its interests; however, there is no information to state this is a credible threat. As always, we remind people to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to authorities." "We have no credible, specific information suggesting an imminent attack," a DHS official said. Too far away from the election; if they stage an attack now they’ll only have to stage another one next year.

Everybody needs to stay calm….they tell us this every fricken year since 9/11. It’s a government scare tactic. We are close to another election, and what better way to keep the sheep behind the fence then by fear of the “maybe” happening.

Tom Clancy’s book “Teeth of the Tiger” details exactly this type of attack. I believe there were four malls hit simultaneously. The terrorists enter the US via the Mexico border.
Posted by: Craig | November 8, 2007, 12:09 pm 12:09 pm
This I doubt. There is very little that can be achieved by this.
Posted by: kilroy was here | November 8, 2007, 12:11 pm 12:11 pm
They can attack us where ever they want when ever they want thanks to our wide open borders. And when they do attack I want the heads of bush and chertoff for leaving us so vulerable.

Got a question for you….If someone connected with this planned attack was captured, would you accept water boarding this guy in order to acquire the info needed to save shoppers’ lives? What if you knew the planned attack was within the next day or two?
Posted by: Bubbler | November 8, 2007, 12:14 pm 12:14 pm
Oh no! Not the malls! I mean, the fact that 5 political hacks and bums on the supreme court threw a federal election, and destroyed any remnant of democracy in this country, and that a mass-murdering moron continues to occupy the white house and destroy our nation is OK. But – if the terrorists destroy the malls, where will we get big-screen TVs! This must send chills down the spines of every true ‘merikan.

Whatever!!! I am really sick of these guys leaking this stuff to inspire fear just about the time they want to take more freedom away or distract from some illegal thing they did that the media picked up on. I’m not buying it anymore.

Do al Qaeda really think this will discourage our economy? If anything, it will bolster already-blossoming E-Commerce. Sorry to be a downer terrorists, but this one looks like a wash.

This report can not be true. Everybody knows that guns are not allowed in shopping malls. Al Qaeda will take one look at the “No Guns” signs and turn back in defeat!

I’m amazed that they haven’t been doing this already. I really am. It would be extremely easy to do relative to a 9-11 type attack. Very glad it hasn’t happened and hope our luck holds.

Dumb Idea for Al Queda. With the economy slumping deeper into the Abyss,
Do they really think there will be THAT many holiday shoppers crowding the malls of America to become potential
targets ?? What happends if they attack and nobodys home ??

If something does happen, the first thing the FBI would do is to declare that it’s ‘not terror related’ as they have done so often in the past.

No problem in Chicago, the terrorists and illegal aliens have free rein over the state of Illinois because our borders are wide open and our immigration laws are NOT enforced. The LA info is ironic – they have the most illegal aliens and liberal law breaking immigration criminal supporting policies of all. Lack of respect for our immigration laws (by our government) is how the 9-11 terrorists were able to move freely about the country. No Changes from 2001 – except maybe worse.

Hmm..lets see. Once again we have information, “that U.S. intelligence officers are uncertain as to whether the information is real, and intelligence officers say there is a concern that it could be “disinformation.” What the FBI & the DHS has turned into is a Ministry of Disinformation. Goebbels and Goering are laughing in their graves.

I think alerts like this are created by terrorists to distract from actual intentions. After 9/11 was shown to be on the radar for several years prior to the attack, however, you can’t ignore anything anymore. Our best defense is to go about our lives and not let terrorists win with fear.

Let’s see,, we were told that Soros would ruin our economy if we put Bush back in the oval office, we did. The American dollar is under attack and it is not certainly by our friends, now have a warning that the thug nasties of the peaceful loving Islamic faith plan on attacking shopping districts during Christmas season,,,I have credit card, I have computer, and I am not afraid of using them.
Now lets find another source for our oil, such as the Gulf, or Alaska, then work to find a clean alternative fuel, and tell the Middle East a nest of vipers to continue on fighting each other till the next kingdom comes.

They say this every holiday season.
As far as the Economy on the rocks, Washington DA, check the recent reports.
It is a scare tactic, as that is the only thing that keeps people ontheir toes, but to say threats does not exist is to put your head in the (dare I say ) SAND.

This type of “disinformation” is its own type of terrorism. The FBI is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. If the FBI doesn’t share the bulletin and something happens, it is bad news for FBI and of course for us. If the FBI tells us about such bulletins then we become frighten, we stay home in fear, and our economy suffers.

Let’s see, there was an planned jihadi bombing of the mall in Cherry Valley, IL and the jihadi shooting up the mall in Utah, both within the last year.
So obviously any warning from the federal government that there could be a coordinated attack at malls during the busiest time of year is obviously a plot by the Bush administration to boost their ratings.
Posted by: mike | November 8, 2007, 12:43 pm 12:43 pm
I suppose this is planned for Black Friday – I do believe these attacks are planned on a yearly basis.
Of course no one will be in the malls this year as no one has ANY MONEY!!!
Shouldn’t be a problem.
Any chance of Bush and Cheney shopping in these malls during the planned attacks?

It’s real people. It’s our reality for the distant future. Let’s just hope we can stop as many of these attacks as possible.

Gee, I guess if I were al-Qaeda’s strategist this is exactly the kind of hysteria I’d be happy about in my target nation. “No, Ayman, don’t you see? Whenever we attack, half the country blames a neo-con conspiracy, and nevers stops attacking the government and the culture of patriotism for us! It’s brilliant!”
It’s people like you, Bob, who demonstrate why “democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.” Fool.

So far, we have been warned about planes, trains, buses, malls, banks apartment buildings, places where people gather, water sources, power plants, remote controlled airplanes, limos, stadiums, baby strollers, helicopters, crop dusters, airports, gumball machines, schools, bridges, roads freeways, Walmarts and my personal favorite, ‘people who walk quietly through the woods’. Terrorism is easy folks, the fact that there have been no terrorist attacks here in the last 7 years is evidence of …..#1 Our intelligence services suddenly became competent, or #2 they have not tried to attack us because we all live in fear already, the objective of terrorism has already been accomplished. Sure, some genius’ out there think that AQ just want to kill ppl with no political objective, so to those ppl, I say ‘watch out!!’

I am also surprised that this has not happened before, I suspect that it may have on a small scale and been buried. I would also say that unless it is done on a massive scale, this may tweak Americans enough to tick many of us off and may actually give the War on Terror a bump in the polls – so to speak. On-line shopping gets a boost until high-tech terrorists hammer the sites. The brown truck delivery guys are going to have a whole lot of overtime pay.

For all the willing ostriches in America, who keep sticking their heads in the sand, after all the past attacks on the US that you said would not and could not happen— they did happen.
Not only al queda but every other form or organization of terror wants to disrupt life in America.
So what if it is advertised many times and hasn’t happened yet, the twin towers project was ‘practiced’ several times over the perhaps 10 years before the actual strike, so it happened.
They are not on the fast track like everything in the US. They don’t care if they have to wait 10 years to get it right.
Personally, I would rather be warned 50 times and it not happen than not be warned at all and then it happen.
I am anxious to see what all the doubters and complainers have to say about it when it does happen regardless of who is in the White House and the other two Houses in the Government.
It is not just one man, Bush or whoever is up there. There are plenty of Dems and Reps in there that are not doing their jobs and then the Judges too.
If people are not warned and it happens, WHAT WILL YOU SAY?

If Al-Qaeda really wants to harm our economy, they’d have to set off a nuclear device, probably a dirty bomb, in one of our ports. If they are going to attack a mall, I’d think it would be some sort of bio/chem attack…not for the higher casualty count, but for the psychological factor…anyway, I don’t shop, but I do live on a hill above the port of LA/Long Beach, so I’m more worried about port security.

I simply love reading comments from you doubting fools. You’re the same people that go off on Bush (but conspicuously not Clinton) for not doing enough about al Qaeda before 9/11. You’re the same people who claim there is too much secrecy in government. Yet, here, the government releases the information they have in an attempt to keep law enforcement agencies on their toes, and you can only claim it’s a scare tactic.
If you had 2 brain cells to rub together, you’d realize that terrorists are plotting, and the fact they’ve failed to execute a major plot in the USA since 9/11 is irrelevant. How many years passed between the WTC bombings and 9/11? EIGHT YEARS, and most of the government was barely concerned about thwarting them for that entire period.
Use a little common sense… consider what it takes to plan a terrorist attack, and what it takes to uncover the plan and maybe you’ll be less likely to dismiss these reports out-of-hand. It may well be that announcing government knowledge of the threat is enough for the terrorists to postpone or even cancel it. But you’ll never know, and you continue to live in your little dream worlds when there are people out there intent on killing you in any way possible. Will the next 9/11 wake you up? Somehow I doubt it.

I wouldn’t disregard this report. It makes sense. They seem to be changing their strategy on us. They’ve scared us with with one HUGE attack…and now maybe they are plotting something on our actual grounds because something of that nature has never occurred. We’re not accustomed, as some other nations are, to casual attacks on civilian terrains. The last attack was unbelieveable and on a large scale, but not one that planted fear in our hearts to steer us away from our daily routine. Something like this could distrupt the way we function! From going to the grocery store to sending our children to school.

They (Islamic Terrorists) may…It would be a ploy to bring the troops home to defend America… and, the much softer Democrats would be in office in the next year. On the other hand, if they lay low, the Metrosexual Democrats would be IN and the coast would be clear for destroying Israel. I think this would be a winner for them. Unless Hillary gets in. She is the only real MAN in the Democratic Party and might even use the atomic bomb. Meanwhile, lets build more bike paths and chant our mantras…hmm what was mine again?

You mean we still have shopping malls in this country? Who can afford to buy over-priced stuff at malls? Not me. Perhaps the administration is trying to scare us away from the malls, so we have to shop at Walmart. What a choice.. death by jihadists or death by cheap, Chinese, lead-tainted toys.

The actual FBI alert has a disclaimer that says the information was acquired through “a lengthy chain of acquisition” and that the “not verified” information was “provided to the source by a sub-source who spoke in confidence”. Meaning: we have no idea if this is true, and we have no suggestions for you about how to avoid any danger if it is true.

I think we should let ALL muslims know that they are either with us or against us and “persuade” them

” the 9-11 terrorists came through CANADA, people. Down and then through Maine…”
WRONG. They all entered the US on a variety of visas, none sneaked across the Canadian border. Maine came into it when Atta and his buddy drove to Portland to catch a connecting flight through NY — avoid tighter security at NY airports by using a smaller outlying airport at Portland. Actually very smart on their part.

Over 1 million Americans lost their jobs after 9-11. Every business decided to stop pursuing deals and growth. If our retail establishments are attacked, it will cause a ripple efect. No one will shop, many stores will go out of business. Yes you can shop online, but those retail clerks, and the real estate will be empty. Actions have consequences, and an attack like this would be just enough to throw us into severe recession. Retail relies heavily on holiday shopping. Flying airplanes into buildings, that can happen, but someone wearing a backpack in a mall, detonating a bomb? No, that could never happen, of course not.

I am so tired of left-wingers mistating the facts of the 2000 election. One last time, Gore wanted to count the ballots in three countries in Florida one way, and the ballots in the other ninety-seven counties another way. And oh yeah, those counties were heavily democratic by the way. So tell me this, who exactly was trying to usurp democracy?? That’s right, Big Al.
Yet another footnote, when the liberal NY Times counted the ballots Gore’s way, he still lost. Enough with the crying. We have serious work to do.

War-time economy is known to be the best type of economy for them. this so-called slowing down of the economy is intentional as it’s being done in a measured way. Has it ever occurred to the Bush apologist monkeys that Bush might just not be trustworthy? I mean, it’s not like he’s shown a penchant for such already. So we are supposed to believe that the FBI can know for a fact that for two years Al Quaeda has been planning mall attacks, yet they don’t have enough information to just go get them? I mean, how do they find out these things? Monitoring web traffic and phone calls perhaps? Yet somehow, Al Quaeda just keeps from being detected. Well, come to think of it, they were taking flight lessons for years undetected, but magically on 911, the FBI got a clue and just happened to know exactly which flight schools to raid. Now it all makes perfect sense.

If there is an attack it’s because George Bush and the neocons want there to be. They will then make more money for themselves and their oil-tycoon buddies. Bush, Cheney, Chertoff, Rice and Rove will all get some nice checks in the mail after this one. THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE!! Don’t you egt it people?!! Bush is a shadow president who set up 9/11. All of these terrorist attacks are not run by Islamists, they are run by Bush and his oil buddies here in America. You neocons need to wake up. We all know that tower 7 is proof there was a conspiracy. It collapsed straight down. Buildings are supposed to fall over like trees, not fall straight down, unless they are blown up by Bushco!! Now they want to shoot up the malls and then make money off it. Oil money. Neocons listen up, we are on to you. And with the internet at our disposul we will decimate the truth!!

As someone who actually works in a mall in a town with a large Muslim population and a Muslim private school, let me remind you that this would be the second murderous attack in mall by Muslim terrorists.
I believe it was in Colorado mall where a Hallmark store and other individuals were attacked right before Valentine’s day. Muslim extremists hate Valentine’s Day, so the timing was no accident.
I think I’ll be getting a gun.

Hitting America during the Christmas shopping season has been the dream of terrorists for a long time. Che Guevara had the Cuban secret police develop a plot to plant numerous bombs in department stores in New York City – Macy’s, Gimble’s, etc – on the day after Thanksgiving. The FBI discovered the plotters, just like Che’s earlier bomb plot against New York was caught.
The jihadists are following in the tracks of the Cuban commies. Hopefully, the FBI will catch the jihadis, too.

More posts about peeps complaining that the economy is in shambles. Why dont you wannabe economists indicate what it is thats so wrong with the economy?
It would seem that the devaluation of our currency is being interpreted by you types as a problem in the economy. Our dollar may be worth less than the euro but our economy is much bigger than that of all those euro using nations put together.
So why dont you peeps look into the real factors in a healthy economy rather than knee jerk everytime you hear a liberal pundit catch phrase as to why Bush is steering the economy into the gutter.
Even with the housing market starting its descent this economy is growing stronger than heck and certainly is in a healthier condition than any nation i can think of.
Even China with its huge growth is no where near our economic health and i forcast a huge crash in China’s economy once their loan-to-cover-loans scams are exposed in the mainstream.

Not to mention that alot of nations devalue their own currency as a method for curbing inflation and inviting foreign investors.
Japan is one of those nations that devalues their own currency to keep overseas investors knocking at their doors.

The reason these racist liberal Neo-Comms don’t want our borders closed is because they never quite got over the freeing of the slaves. 150 years ago it was black slaves toiling in the cotton fields. Today it is Mexican slaves toiling in the lettuce fields in the southwest.
Jobs Americans won’t do? Seal the borders. See how fast the wages increase when the slaves are not available to work for slave wages. Then see how fast these jobs turn into jobs Americans will do. Enough with these racist liberal Neo-Comms!

Bush is making it up, the Al-Qeada really don’t want to destroy the West, the threat of terrorism is nothing but a bumper sticker cliche, we’re in a Depression and Homeland Security is making this up, we’re really not in a global war on terror, Saddam was a humanitarian and the 400,000 dead and tortured Iraqi bodies found in mass graves were put there by Halliburton, the New York Times is a patriotic newspaper that hopes this country defeats terrorism, there’s nothing wrong with appeasing radical Islam, 9/11 was orchestrated by George Bush who convinced Sanjaya who fly one of the planes in the WTC, and Islam is a religion of peace.

ive always heard ” better safe than sorry ” was the way to go ,and in this instance i kind of agree with that idea. booga booga i know , but even so, to ignore the possible is to empower it even more than close inspection might.
possible/imminent risk(s) of most kinds can be hard,if not impossible to forecast with any real degree of accuracy ,just like hurricanes and snowstorms,(just ask an insurance agent if you dont believe me …) but to ignore even fairly plausible threats to the populace at large ,especially from someone who has shown they can and will attack us, would be somewhat stupid and conveniently oblivious, similar to the cartoon ostrich who, when attacked by the lion, hides his head in the sand and thusly thinks himself alone and safe.
the terrorists, the really well connected international ones anyway, do mean business folks . they have a good amount of $$ and several thousand rabid followers at minimum, AND we have definitely stirred them up quite a bit in the last 5 years or so…

possible/imminent risk(s) of most kinds can be hard,if not impossible to forecast with any real degree of accuracy ,just like hurricanes and snowstorms,(just ask an insurance agent if you dont believe me …) but to ignore even fairly plausible threats to the populace at large ,especially from someone who has shown they can and will attack us, would be somewhat stupid and conveniently oblivious, similar to the cartoon ostrich who, when attacked by the lion, hides his head in the sand and thusly thinks himself alone and safe.
the terrorists, the really well connected international ones anyway, do mean business folks . they have a good amount of $$ and several thousand rabid followers at minimum, AND we have definitely stirred them up quite a bit in the last 5 years or so…

Look up CherryVale Mall bomb plot in Rockford, Ill. and educate yourselves. You can’t tell me there isn’t a true threat out there.
Not everything is a conspiracy theory, like many of you like to believe.
Bulletins such as this one are meant for people to keep an eye out, NOT to scare them to stay home and shop online.
Just pay attention.

a couple of things about these posts amuse me.
the first is that after 9/11 everyone was complaining that the sketchy and undetailed warning of some kind of attack was not shared.
the second is about the economy. would one of you who claims that the economy is in the dumper, please give me an example? also, please define a good economy so that i’ll know it when i see it.
near as i can tell, the intel community is damned any way you look at it. if they warn of things that might be out there, you call it fear mongering. if they do not warn, you say they are either incompetent or hiding things. i’m sure they will suddenly become better if a democrat is in the whitehouse!

Wow. Ignore the threat because it might impact your candidate. Put others at risk by shouting down the reality. Great strategy.
I wonder what the generation that fought Hitler and Stalin would say about this?

The terrorists have already disrupted our lives and our economy. Look at how many of our soldiers continue to die in Irag and Afghanistan. The terrorists win every time we show excerpts from the latest “bin laden” video or audio tape. And what about the risinggas prices??? They must be laughing every time a warning like this comes out!!!

Oh please What Now? – what shopping malls “don’t allow citizens to carry concealed weapons”? When was the last time you were frisked at the door of a shopping mall? What laws prevent carrying a weapon at a shopping mall? And how exactly is this vague warning supposed to do anything but invoke terror in people?

Yeah we’d be lot safer if everyone had their gun on them when a bomb goes off. Obviously the terrorists don’t read the business news reports. If they did, they would konw that brick and mortor retail stores were not doing nearly as well as they used to because people are shopping on line these days. So much for their grand plan. I don’t think these terrorists understand Americans, or how big this country is, or what it would really take to put a dent in our economy. Hit a few malls, kill a few people. Sure, and then we spend millions rebuilding, which puts money back in the economy. We buy thousands of flowers, cards and such for the injured and dead. We spend thousands on new security jobs. We recover and move on, all the while putting more and more money into the economy. Their grand plan has some huge holes in it. But nobody accused them of being smart enough to realize they simply will never win, especially when they just don’t understand Americans.

This forum has about covered it all so far.
I am in a pensive mood so I’ll ask this; since we’ve spent over a half-trillion taxpayers’ dollars on the Middle East War, why are we still paying $3.00+ for gasoline (and who knows how much for heating oil this winter)?
Isn’t it time for the Afghanistans and Iraqis to REPAY the United States SOMETHING?
N.B. This next sentence is NOT meant to be insensitive. We keep ploughing money in for their protection but nothing comes out of the Middle East, except perhaps aluminum coffins.
A few million barrels of oil would be a good start, but I fear that just as France, England, and the other overrun countries refused to reimburse the U.S., no one is going to repay the American taxpayer anything for the military services rendered thus far.
And personally, I think that is an integral part of what is turning the U.S. citizenry against the war.
Americans are waiting with bated breath to witness a denouement in the White House and on Capitol Hill.
“Though still only a prospect on the horizon, this, I think, could well be the next revolution. What a denouement if it is! — Julian Barbour, The End of Time.”

Why do you expect explosives as the most likely form of attack on a shopping mall. Biologic, chemical, and radiologic seem as likely if they want to surprise us again. The air handling systems of these enclosed malls could deliver the weapon for them. In the past, they used our in place technology to do us great harm and will probably do so in the future. They have had 6 years to think up a new plan, and they are clever, resourceful, and fanatical. Terrorist attacks have always been here, and will always be here. The jihadists weren’t our first terrorists. But you have to live your normal lives. As Winston Churchill said “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”

What is it about this website? It attracts more left wing moonbats than any other site I have seen. Rants on “government takeovers, Bush is a mass murderer, scare tactics by the government” what a bunch of hogwash. If Bush was so sinister and bent on taking over the government, the first thing he would do is lock up goof balls like you. Since you are not in jail, but typing e-mails from your mother’s basement is proof there is no evil government plot. Ask yourself this: If the malls were attacked and the FBI didn’t warn you ahead of time, what would you say then?

Some people have their heads so far in the sand it’s scary.
The nutball Islamists are not stupid. Reference the planning and research to pull off 9/11/01. They are very patient and most people just want to pretend everything is ok (picture a guy with fingers in ears saying,”La-La-La-La-La I’m not listening”). But when the big bad terrorist shows up the wimps want to hide behind the ‘paranoid’ people who remained vigilant and prepared.
Stand ready sheepdogs.

Yawn! Do a Google search on “threat” & “shopping mall”. This has been leaked by HSA or the FBI almost every year since 9/11.
With all the powers that the people gave the executive branch, if they can’t foil this, time to rethink the “strategery”. Perhaps if there is an attack, Congress will feel inspired enough to dismantle the TSA and HSA and use those funds to secure the borders like other countries do and enforce the immigration laws already on the books.
Bush, HSA, and TSA are bigger threats to your freedom than any 19 terrorists could ever be. Terrorism only works if you buy into the fear.

If you ask me its the media that is into “MIND CONTROL”… Everybody talks about the sheeple that blindly follow the bush administration, how about the sheeple that follow the every word that comes out of the media. I am not talking about fox news either… lets see… fox 1….. liberal media 10-12… I mean come on folks. Really, just sit back one night and clear your minds, don’t have a conservative or liberal viewpoint in your mind.. clear it… and then really “LISTEN”… and come up with what you hear and see…. they are into something called “jamming and control” the more they talk on and on, the more they convince”YOU” that they are right. That is how they operate! just tune into CBS< ABC< NBC< PBS<CNBC<MSNBC<CNN<, and then to top it off the comedy channel with jon stewart….. see and hear the message. they are all going to report on this mall attack tonight …you can count on it, and they will most likely laugh and make light of it, but they are also nervous NOT to report it …just in case….. hear what they have to say about it….. and then erase all the crap in your mind about what you just heard… go online and then do your own research…. formulate your own opinion… to listen to anything the media says on tv or in print is worthless. PS<<< look up jamming and control online you'll see something that you've never thought of before!

What US president was in power when the 9/11 hijackers took their flight classes?
Did AQ vote in the 2000 Florida elections?

That’s a pretty big conspiracy.

Don’t Panic remain alert and vigilant. Remember there are no Al Qaeda under our beds as long as we keep guns under our pillows and trust no one.
Remember also your children are under a bigger threat from being run over by a car than been a victim of terrorism.
Meanwhile it won’t do any harm to review your families emergency plan in the case there is an earthquake, hurricane, bushfire, flooding, tornado, mudslide, volcanic eruption, tv writers strike, train crash including dangerous chemicals, oil refinery explosion, shipwreck, motorway pileup, terrorist attack.
Hang loose everyone if it is going to happen it will happen if it doesn’t, which is most likely then what is the point in worrying.

Hey Lindsay
You’re wrong… The 9-11 terrorists did not enter the U.S from Canada. Not that Canada isn’t full of Islamic extremists, and probably dozens of terrorist cells. The terrorist caught trying to enter the U.S. from Canada was the guy planning to bomb the LA airport.
Posted by: Paul | November 8, 2007, 2:58 pm 2:58 pm
There will be no major attacks until Hillary or another left wing liberal is elected. Then terrorists will start a wave of terror bombings of prime American targets. It won’t be shopping malls but more than likely oil refineries or chemical plants to cripple America’s economy. They know that liberals are terrorist sympathizers who will do little to prevent or punish terrorists.

But before that, let’s give some of our educationally challenged fellow Americans a simple lesson in economics, basic science, civics, the US Constitution, and some real life hardships. Oh wait, since most of these folks can’t read or write properly, how would they read all of these simple lessons? Let’s start at kindergarten first.

Bad sign if Al Qaeda starts to wake up. The types of attacks they’ve been planning to date on high-value targets have been over-the-top, costly and little chance of success, especially after 9/11. Blowing up essentially random targets will do much more to strike fear into the hearts of the average American than taking down the Statue of Liberty or the like.

One, why on earth wouldn’t you take a terrorism threat seriously people? It’s not like it hasn’t happened before…
Two, there’s clearly no political motivation for this report. The economy is more than a bit jittery already. This kind of report 3 weeks before the shopping season doesn’t help the economy or the administration. Duh.
Three, this has nothing to do with the elections in 2000, 2004 or the one next year. I can’t believe there are still people whining over the Gore/Kerry losses. GET OVER IT. The democrats have another shot at it in 2008 – assuming you’re ignorant enough to cast your vote for the socialist Hillary Clinton. And it seems like most of ya’ll are.

I agree that Ron Paul is an absolutely amazing ray of sunshine in an otherwise dreary political landscape. He gets my vote. But when I hear folks like you rant about “Zionists”, et. al. you totally lose me. Seriously, it comes off as ignorant and racist.

A few simple question… What is the sense of spending billions of dollars on defense, being the so-called only super-power in the world and yet we can’t stop a bunch of losers with box cutters?
Can a bunch of people thousands of miles away, with no standing army, limited modern weaponry, really destory America?
Does Israel (easily one of if not the foremost experts in Terror) broadcast Terror alerts?
Isn’t it strange that you are told about this plan to attack American interests and in the next breath you are told to go about your life normally?
Finally, who doesn’t know that people want to hurt America and American interests? How is this news?

Everyone knows that its the US government. Al Qaeda doesn’t exist, that is something Bush and the New World Order and the rest of those sick SOB’s concocted to scare everyone. There is one thing I fear and that is GOD.

I prey to god that even if an attack happens you all still act like Americans and go about your lives not in fear but as supporters of capitalism, as the only thing that can stop the natural human instinct is fear.
By the way: Washington DA’s comment is so classic and unbelievably true! It took me two months after 9/11 to realize this (by then the patriot act was already in play).

I’m simply amazed by the number of idiots, crackpots, and conspiracy theorists that’ve responded to this news item.
Are you all really so blinded by hatred and political partisanship that you can’t accept the fact that there really ARE people in the world who want to kill us?
Those people don’t care what political bent you hold, or which candidate you voted for. Democrat, Republican, conservative, liberal … it doesn’t matter. They just want you dead.
When and if our society DOES collapse, blame for it will be laid squarely at YOUR feet. Idiots.

“We have no credible, specific information suggesting an imminent attack,” a DHS official said.’ Well why are you giving out non-credible information. More Bush run up the flag scare tactics. If we get attacked we get attacked, that is the price we pay, and many others have paid with their lives for our “freedoms” which Bush and the Republicans try and take away, like the Military Commissions Act of 2006! When is Congress going to get off their A__ and repeal this unconstitutional law. Parts have already been struck down by the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. Bush should not have a get out of jail free card for his violations of the Geneva Conventions and his secret CIA Torture camps set up in places like Poland! Perhaps when we learn to quit pi__ing people off then we wont have to worry so much about terrorist. What we have right now is a poster boy for the recruitment of terrorist sitting in the White House! Time for him to go as well!

Boogieman,
Inside job…martial law. How funny. I heard the Chicken Littles like yourself spouting this same gibberish in 1999, right before the impending Y2K “crisis.”
Clinton is going to declare martial law, they said. He’s going to suspend elections, they said. He won’t leave office, they said.
Chicken Little was wrong then and is wrong now. Stop spouting off every whack job idea that pops into your head and get back to work.

Amid all the Bush-Bum-kissers’ bashing of liberals, I notice they seem to miss one very crucial question–If we are indeed attacked, doesn’t that make what Bush has been bleeting about every time someone questions the war in Iraq with “We’re fighting them there so we don’t have to fight them here” a bunch of bull*?
Oh, but I guess if you’re actually a simpleton in the 24% of redneck America that still think Bushie’s doing a ‘heckuva job’, then I guess you’ve got to find ANY reason to complain about liberals because everything they said about Bush being a disaster for our country was right and all you pinheads can do is b*tch because liberals don’t share your view of the world or your psychotic hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton!

What many of those who don’t believe the threat is real have ignored is the words from the terrorists themselves! They, The terrorists, have said many times how they are planning on destroying America and Israel by any means necessary. They have also said from their own mouths that they will not rest until “everyone” converts to Islam. You can blame Bush or whoever in DC. It doesn’t matter!!! Listen to the actual words of the terrorists themselves. Just as it has pointed out in posts here, it’s a no win situation for the Feds. If they don’t warn us they will be blamed for being secretive and not providing information when we are attacked. If they do tell us then it’s just fearing mongoring. Common sense must prevail. PREPAREDNESS IS NOT AN OPTION!

Umm…to the “well informed poster” who claimed the 9/11 terrorists came from CANADA…no, they ALL entered the US directly on legitimate US issued visas, from the Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
The only way to stop Muslim terrorists is to threaten to melt down most of Arabia, home of Medina, etc.
Without the big black cube they march around in circles…no place for Mohamed to return to…..too bad, so sad :(

You’re all missing the REAL reason
Bush and Cheney outsource torture:
They NEED the FALSE ‘Confessions’ — Forced LIES — to prop up their Official Lie 9/11 cover story that
‘Al Qaeda did it’, when THEY did it.
The REAL reason Bush and Cheney, and the new about-to-be AG Mukasey, won’t say waterboarding — which WE held as a war crime in WW II –
is torture is because THEY’VE ALREADY waterboarded — tortured — alleged 9/11 ‘mastermind’ Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (‘KSM’) to get him to ‘confess’ to 9/11, which would have to be THROWN OUT of the big
‘show trial’ of KSM they’ve got planned for just before the 2008 election, and REAL evidence — which includes THEIR OWN COMPLICITY and that of the likely Republican candidate Giuliani — would pour out like a dam breaking.
ALL OF THIS — the torture, the ‘outsourcing’ of torture, the renditions, even the attempt to give retroactive immunity to telecoms for enabling their illegal warrantless
NSA wiretaps — is about Bush and Cheney desperately trying to prop up The Official LIE of 9/11, belief in which has enabled every Evil they’ve done since. Remember, they ‘justify’ the illegal NSA warrantless wiretap program as an alleged defense ‘in response to’ — and thus only,
they claim, initiated AFTER — 9/11.
But the whole world knows that this, too, is a Huge Lie: The whole world knows that the NSA tapped the PRE-9/11 calls of KSM himself talking with lead hijacker Mohammed Atta, on Sept. TENTH. And you can be sure
that one PRE-9/11 tap WASN’T the first PRE-9/11 warrantless phone tap of the alleged 9/11 ‘mastermind’ KSM and other of the Official 9/11 Story conspirators by Bush, Cheney and then-NSA head Hayden, who now heads the very agency that did and does
the renditions to torture, the CIA.
That is, because of their PRE-9/11 warrantless taps of KSM, Atta, etc., Bush, Cheney and Hayden knew EVERY
DETAIL of the pending 9/11 attack,
as detailed in the 11-page attachment to the famous Aug. 6, 2001 Presidential Daily Brief titled ‘Bin Laden Determined to Attack in the U.S.’ that HAS STILL NOT BEEN MADE PUBLIC. ALL of this is about the REAL official perpetrators of 9/11 desperately trying to hide the fact that they used illegal warrantless taps OF KSM and others to learn the details of the coming attacks, ENSURED they would be allowed to happen spectacularly, and that they then propped up the 9/11 Official Story Legend with forced-lie ‘confessions’ by the ‘mastermind’ KSM they ‘allowed’ to be TORTURED into ‘confessing’ to 9/11 by waterboarding. Like O.J., Bush, Cheney and Hayden are ‘still looking for the real terrorists’ of the Sept. 11 attacks. And so should ALL of You Be.

Hey, Non Believer,
YES, they do broadcast terror alerts in Israel. They even send them out via text message to the cell phones of those who opt to receive them.
Can a bunch of people thousands of miles away really destroy America? Yes, I suppose we could if we allowed it to happen. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that one out.
Isn’t it strange we’re told about a potential attack plan and then told to go on with our lives? No. It’s not strange.

I notice that some people on this post are still trying to perpetuate the notion that Democrats want the terrorist to win and have everybody in America subject to an islamic regime. I would remind you that the Democrats are the ones that want to live free. We don’t want scardy-cats, self-rightious bible-thumpers, or grown-ups that believe in fairy tale to tell us how to live as long as we cause no harm. Exactly what part of that makes you think that we desire the terrorist to win? Just because we only slightly less frightened by the religious right than be the islamic extreamist does not mean that we would prefer to live under either group of intolerant bigots. Maybe if you got your own life you would’nt be so prone try and run everybody else’s. By the way, seeing terrorist being every corner is good way to miss the ones that are really there.

Everybody is for trying to stop terrorism. What people are sick of is vague announcements like this, which even the FBI admits are “unconfirmed” and “non-specific”, because all they do is scare people. Unless they have some more useful suggestions or a specific threat, they might as well just say “continue to exercise awareness of possible terrorism from now on”. If they have “unconfirmed” threats DHS and the FBI should run them down – and the press doesn’t help by hyping these things. Anyone who lived in England during the IRA bombings knows that good police work is more effective than public panic.

Although it has been 6 years, it feels like a lifetime, and perhaps this is the problem. Some people just can’t be happy no matter what you do to try and help them. Remember the “boy that cried wolf”…
the old saying about the boy that cries “the wolf is here and
is going to eat me.” the boy said it three times…on the third time…people didn’t believe it and he got eaten. I don’t believe this crap for one second. Anyway, you are more likely to die at the hands of a criminal in your own community or a mad trucker on the road who wants to crush your car to smitherens than these “so called al queda terrorists”. Secure the damn borders, put a v-chip in everyone coming into America by plane or ship…and you’d still have homegrown terrorists…and crime and whatever other problems…natural, hurricane, or man-made.
enough of this fear mongering…just live your lives people!!!
the only thing you have to fear is fear itself…as FDR (President Franklin Delano Roosevelt said). Or take
the quote of President John F. Kennedy,
“ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”.
Posted by: dean | November 8, 2007, 4:03 pm 4:03 pm
islamic terrorism as we now know it, started in the ’20′s. it has since grown and spread. 30 year of terrorist attacks have been aimed at western interests. if you can not be bothered to crack a history book, or remain vigilant, perhaps you deserve what happens to you.
seems many people believe that 9/11 was a one time lucky hit. if you are in that group, you are foolish.
others of us watched 9/11 without surprise except to wonder why it had not happened sooner.
there is no harm in vigilance. preparation is not the same a fear.
a warning is not fear mongering.
Posted by: rider237 | November 8, 2007, 4:06 pm 4:06 pm
“I wonder why this hasn’t happened already…”!!!
To the person who said this: Do you REALLY wonder? Isn’t it obvious?
“Al Qaeda” is an illusion and the “war on Terror” is a con. It’s all designed, a la 1984, to hypnotize the sheeple into fear and submission.
Iran, the Great Satan, does tons of business with Dick Cheney’s company, halliburton. Look it up. Don Rumsfeld was on the board of directors of ABB, a Swiss firm that sold nuclear rods to North Korea, another “axis of evil” client. Look it up.
They are playing us for suckers (or trying to). There is really no such thing as “Al Qaeda”; it is just a term applied loosely to anyone the government feels like persecuting.
Posted by: jgmurphy | November 8, 2007, 4:07 pm 4:07 pm
And I see once again that all the people that are afraid of the terrorist still have not answered the question if we need to be aware of all this and there is so much hate that they will come here to kill us and we need to pay attention to what Bush and the FBI say WHY DO WE STILL HAVE BORDERS OPEN THAT YOU CAN WALK ACROSS. If your house gets broken into as ours did on 9/11 wouldn’t the first thing you would do the next day is to start locking your doors. If there is a terrorist attack IT IS Bush’s fault because he forgot to lock the door to our house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Melissa | November 8, 2007, 4:11 pm 4:11 pm
Calm down, people! Al Qaeda is hardly the biggest threat this country has faced. In the scope of US history, Al Qaeda sits pretty low on the list of domestic dangers. They’ve done some damage, true. And I agree they could do lots more.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Remember the Soviet Union? WWII Japan? Hitler? We were quite capable of fending off their ARMIES. Al Qaeda has no army; it has FOLLOWERS. There’s a big difference. Followers have to be goaded into sacrifice by the leaders of a movement exploiting things like poverty and political dissatisfaction.
They cannot invade en masse to attack this country. The best way to defend ourselves is to seal up the borders, maintain a strong national defense, and stop meddling in all these places around the world. Our government helps to create those “followers” by sticking its nose in other countries’ business.

To all the Right Wingers who posted on this blog, I say this unto you: Just because people in this world want to kill Americans (for whatever reason)does not necessarily means that they have the means to do so. In other words, just because it is posted on a blog does not mean that Al-Quaeda is under the bedding dept at Macy’s ready to strike.
Every time you buy into the fear, you make the terrorists more powerful. Look at Israel. Do they search your shoes or broadcast meaningless “warnings” like this one? No!
The war in Iraq was supposed to “take the battle to them so we don’t have to fight them here.” If there is an attack, it just shows the failure of this Neocon “strategery” of GWB.

“democrats are the ones that want to live free” that was the best laugh of the day.
actually, you do better to use the terms liberal and conservative.
make a list of all the intrusions into our personal lives; gun control, parenting, religion, smoking, seat belts, taxes, you name it. look and see who has acted to restrict our personal freedoms….all for the greater good. you’ll find it’s the liberals, usually at the state and local level. when we vote against their programs, they go around us and legislate, or drag us through the courts. the will of the people does not matter to liberals. after all, they know what is best for us!
right now, it’s best for us to focus on nasty rich people who don’t pay enough in taxes, and nasty conservatives who what to scare us. there are no bad guys out there….the bad guys are in the white house!

just like at O’Hare airport, illegal aliens staff behind the scenes positions at malls via cleaning and janitorial companies, often hired by “staffing” agencies w/o regard to legal status or false documentation. Many of these “employees” have access to non-public, secure areas of shopping malls. No one knows who they are, what they are here for, what their background is…etc. Wake up people! Demand that our elected officials close the borders and that we do some serious interior enforcement of our immigration laws. Why isn’t ICE looking at all these so-called “staffing agencies”? many send illegal aliens to work at many malls, large corporate complexex, office buildings, hospitals and even airports.

“Can a bunch of people thousands of miles away, with no standing army, limited modern weaponry, really destroy America?”
No. Most of us have got our fear under control and realize that simple fact. That is why George “BOO!” Bush has lost his audience.
Germany and Japan were actual threats. They had the infrastructure, the numbers, and the money (as proven) to take over other countries, militarily. That was a war, this is not. There are some very, very dangerous groups though and I thank everyone in law enforcement for what they are doing to keep us safe. It is mainly a law enforcement issue. When folks such as the Talaban actually take over areas, then it was and will be right and productive to take military action. What was this Iraq thing — wow, what a mistake that was — who the hell did that and can we fire them?

rider 237: actually most of the personal intrusion laws you cite were passed by both liberals and conservatives “to keep you safe”.
Yes conservatives believe in rugged individualism as long as it protects corporations and the military/industrial complex at the expense of the common man.
Reagan did more than Al-Aqaeda to damage the US economy by fast tracking elimination of the protections that were put in place to preserve living wages for Americans and regulate the industries including Big Pharma and Health Care so that the American worker could survive & prosper.
What was Reagan’s legacy? Free Trade, Outsourcing, Moving Factories Overseas, Deregulation, Deficit Spending, Trickle Down Economics, strengthening the Military/Industrial Complex, and Union Busting. We are now reaping what he, teh Bushes, & Clinton sowed. Nice!

“I’m so sick of reading all of the losers posting on here!”
Actually, it is the government that has screwed over the American worker. American workers are the most productive workers in the world. That is a documented fact. Nevertheless, our government has done all it can to assist corporations in exporting our jobs overseas and importing cheap labor to displace us.
Ours is a government of the corporations and for the corporations. What Americans really need is to stand up and force the government to serve the people and not the corporations.

Dear Ohio Guy,
First up – thanks for not being a jerk like so many other people here and just start throwing around childish phrases. It’s refreshing to talk to someone who doesn’t just spout off a bunch of terms that have long ago lost their meaning and is willing to discuss serious issues with an adult sober tone.
YES, they do broadcast terror alerts in Israel. They even send them out via text message to the cell phones of those who opt to receive them. – NO!!!!!!!!! Actually, they don’t. – It doesn’t help anyone but the terrorists – now the Terrorists are alerted that the authorities are on to them and the population is scared by a “possible” attack. A scared population is the goal of terrorism. It’s a lose-lose situation to publish these alerts. (Notice I didn’t say it was a bad idea to share this info among various Intelligence/Police agencies – it’s a smart idea)
Can a bunch of people thousands of miles away really destroy America? Yes, I suppose we could if we allowed it to happen. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that one out. –Really? Please expand? How? Can they kill us all? Can they destroy our armed forces? Can they destroy every vestige of democracy in some sweeping attack? NO! But maybe you are a genius after all and don’t even know it. The way Terrorists destroy America is by scaring people into believing that they can destroy us. Then we do the work for them by allowing the government (any party – same thing) to destroy our civil liberties – spying on citizens, torturing, renditions, mercenaries, destroying our economy (please don’t tell me that the economy is great) through extraordinary spending, killing habeas corpus, Militarizing our Police, politicizing our courts, on and on and on… So, it seems to me we are letting it happen – you got me there.
Isn’t it strange we’re told about a potential attack plan and then told to go on with our lives? No. It’s not strange. – Maybe you are right it’s not strange – IT”S A CONTRADICTION (AKA DOUBLETHINK – Be Afraid, but don’t be afraid.)
I refuse to be afraid. And I call BS what it is – BS.
And before anyone decides to start calling me infantile names like America Hater, or other childish clichés I would just ask you to look at history – I’ll give you 2 clues to start with – “Operation Gladio and the Strategy of Tension” and our own patriotic hero “Major General Smedley Darlington Butler”
If you bother and you still don’t believe that Fascism is a legitimate concern under ANY administration, God help us all.

‘ministry of dis-information’ ??? Do you want our government to warn us or not??? I think everybody has become complacent and potentially tired of ‘warnings’ because of the sheer fact that we havn’t been attacked in over 6 years. If you want to blame Bush for anything, blame him for us NOT being attacked. I am sure Bush haters can find a way to somehow do that.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

If al Qaeda or anyone else for that matter wanted to disrupt (temporarily) the US economy it could do so with relative ease and without the needless killing of innocent people. For example, there are very large model rockets which can be purchased with relative ease. These rockets leave a very distinct smoke trail similar in appearance to that of a surface to air missile. Now let’s say just prior to the holiday season terrorists simultaneously launched one or two of these rockets in the vicinity of a few major airports for all to see, how long do you think it would be before “all flights” were grounded while the authorities tried to figure out if it was a surface to air missile attack or not? In the meantime, the terrorists send a message to the media, “we missed, this time, but we won’t miss the next time!” Flights would be cancelled nationwide and the economic ripple effect would be felt for months.
I’m not suggesting there is not a threat out there but I question at a time we as a nation are so divided on the war in Iraq and our involvement in the Middle East why al Qaeda would want attack us here at home and give the American people a reason to come together as one (like we did immediately after 9-11). Doesn’t make sense to me.

Does anyone ever blame islamic terrorists anymore?? Are there any realistic fears of WMD attacks on our soil?? There should be!! I think our gov. success in stoping terrorists has been counterproductive. A few terrorist attacks that hit home will get everyone back to focusing on stoping militant, islamic terrorists

chase harrington = doofus
do you actually read the newspaper chase? really, read the news and tell me how all the 2 million or so folks whose houses were foreclosed on lately feel? is it really all their fault the cost of living is sky high and conversely their wages continue to stagnate , both situations caused in large part by ignorant republican economic policies that make the rich richer while ignoring pressing social and economic responsibilities that are the sworn duty of government to uphold. i think they are just dupes who are getting taken to the cleaners by some slick snake oil salesmen/carpet baggers myself.
the min wage bill that was just past was 10 years overdue, the min wage still isnt nearly at a living wage level for anywhere in the usa . dont crow about that as any kind of victory for anyone except the illegal aliens who mostly make said sub-human wage.
and chase, most americans dont want the government to take care of them, but everyone DOES expect some action and substantive improvements in their day to day lives, thats what a government is for. we all pay taxes specifically to do just that. however, i dont think many peoples’ lives are better today under the republican watch, and i would daresay the polls prove me and my opinion to be 110% correct in this particular instance.

Rumors released by Amazon dot coooooommmmmmmm (to the commercial tune) just kidding. I agree with the non-looney, non-conspiracy people on this board…if the FBI didn’t say anything and something happened, then it would be, “Why didn’t they say anything when they knew?”
FYI, Bush and the gov don’t have to hype it up, just listen for yourselves what AQ and OBL are saying. Now imagine yourself in a position of political power (I know its hard for some of you) and you receive briefings every day on new threats, bombers in Iraq, non-progress on the diplomacy with Iran, complacency of European countries to let Iran get the bomb and get bombed themselves. What would you do? (I know the answer already, look to Hilary, hold hands and sing for world peace.)
Somebody has to do the dirty work or we (yes you and I from civilized nations) will all end up either dead (at the receiving end of an AQ n-bomb) or at the mercy of crooked countries like Russia or China. Keep telling yourselves that the only thing wrong in the world is that the hollywood Clintons are not back in power.

Richard Clark wrote an essay about this a while ago. It was a look back from 10 or so years in the future that described the attacks and the Govt’s reactions to it.
This chatter sounds like a hoax to me. They have found that we will react just as strongly to threats as we will to an actual attack, and threats are much cheaper and easier to pull off.

credible or not, i’m surprised it hasn’t happened already. Being that I have a store in mall, this situation has bothered me for some time. Terrorism, is all economic. It’s a cheap, effective way to fight a war -where a minimal amount of damage can cause a maximum amount of panic. Look at at Iraq, where our Billions of dollars Military prowess is bogged down by what? a few cheap road side IUDs? Malls are not like airports with fortress-like security. You all know what security is like at the mall and it’s an open environment where any one can go and there are kids with backpacks everywhere. I honestly hope it’s political hype.

This is so typical, it’s just another scheme to build some sort of trust or faith in the government. If it doesn’t happen, then it can be automatically attributed to their success. If it does happen, then what? Which comes to the point, if the government knows that there will be a terrorist attack why would they admit to any knowledge about it? If it actually does happen, i.e. they are unable to thwart it, then even the most moronic citizen will likely see the ineptness (God, I at least hope). If something is going to happen, don’t count on hearing about it from CBS news.

Lets see? What legislation is in jeopardy, requiring something to scare the cowardly democrats in Congress into betraying the voters that swept them back into power in the fall of last year? Is there any? Maybe a revisit of FISA? Maybe an attorney general confirmation? Maybe giving immunity to companies for something that Bush says was legal to begin with?
What a disgrace. Absolute disgrace. Lets sit back and watch the cowardly Democrats be played like Rainmen so they will give Bush everything he ever requested.

The Civil War (USA killed alot of Americans), the Lusitania (carried arms), USS Liberty (no retaliation, massive coverup), Gulf of Tonkin (now declassified), the Clinton Murders (just speculation…), Gary Condit (no speculation), OKC Bombing (very fuzzy), Waco Massacre(ATF war), etc., etc., etc.
I don’t know the truth behind all of these, but I have good reasons to be skeptical.
Fortunately the Chinese made American flag is a little too thin, if you look closely, you can sort of see what is going on behind it.

Have they done a single thing to do this? If anything should happen along this order and it’s successful, AQ is going to be the third in line for where I place the blame.

Interesting…. if the Feds didn’t let the info out, all of the Loony left would say it was a conspiracy of the Republicans to take away more freedoms… Funny how they react no matter what happens….
As for the information, I find it interesting that they have not tried this before now…. Yes there are so many holes in our borders, but they left keeps giving Illegals rights that we do not give legal immigrants in this country… and then they blame Bush for the open borders…. When Democratic controlled states keep complaining that we are not taking care of the Illegal immigrants who are taking resources away from legal immigrants and the citizens of this country… How stupid are you leftist? You want it both ways on every issue and then complain like whiny little children who do not get their way… Grow up and look at the big picture and not let your feeling get in the way of what should be a logical decision….
Then you have the audacity to claim Bush is taking away all of your rights… What rights would you have if you let the Islamist radicals take over? If you keep complaining and keep the government from doing the Constitutionally mandated obligation to keep the population safe from all enemies both Foriegn and Domestic, you will not have any rights… All of you complaining pansy’s would have never survived WWII when more rights were temporarily taken away for National Security than has been taken today… But of couse all of you Communist leftist idiots know is conspiracies after conspiracies… Of course there is no one on the Democrats side of the isle that has ever done any wrong ever in their life…. Ted Kennedy never killed a young woman by leaving her in a sinking car in a river… Bill Clinton never commited Perjury… Sandy Burger never stole documents from the National Archives…. LBJ never let dead people vote for him so that he could start the Vietnam War… These must all be Republican conspiracies against the good, fair-minded Democrats… No Democrat has ever been a member of the Ku Klux Klan. No Democrats Justice has ever issued a Supreme Court Desicion based on hatred of the Catholic Church… No according to all of the absent minded democrats this is the “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy” out to rape and pillage every American to get rich off of the Poor…. How can that be right when the poor do not have anything to take away? That’s right, Sorry I forgot about the “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy” and all of those “Extra Chromosome Republicans”… Because you know Republicans that have Down Syndrome are out to steal, Rape, and pillage everyone… You are all such idiots it is no longer funny….

Stock market all time high, housing all time low, inflation low, gasoline adjusted for inflation at the same price as the 1970′s. You think this economy is bad just wait if a Democrat wins the WH, increase taxes and a major recession. Then another repulican will get elected (just like reagan or Bush II) and lower taxes and the economy will come out of the recession and start boomin just in time for all the democrats to again say The economy Sucks!” Hey Democrats – read the WSJ every now and then

We all know only the God fearing Republicans can cave us from this impending doom. Of course the Democrats dont care about this because they are Godless commies in disguise. In fact, the terrorist are not only targeting malls, they are targeting amusement parks too, so call off that Disney vacation. In fact, the only real way to keep them from attacking is to bury your head in the sand so you don’t know they are here already. At least the president has learned something from history. He is the biggest practitioner of fear mongering since the Nazi party had Goebbels. You can’t trust a Republican further than their last mens room tryst. Bush has done more long term harm to the US than any terrorist could possible have done. It will take generations to undo the damage he and his cronies accomplished.

Just goes to show you that putting a heavy emphasis on “intelligence” is misplaced at best, in fighting “terror”. Instead, how about putting a heavy emphasis on diplomatic relations, good will, supportiveness of your fellow country’s needs, not threatening, not acting illegally, and not replacing terror with torture.

Wow does the US Media work for AL Queada? The only thing disrupting the holiday season is reports on things that may happen. This is not new unless its a real threat or after the attack. I am sure you have now impacted to some extent the Mall economy in LA or Chicago.
Love stories that have no credible backing.
NEWS FLASH Al Qaeda Wants All Americans Dead

Sorry George, not buying it this time. We’ve heard “Wolf! Wolf!” Too many So times now. If anything does happen, rest assured it’s NOT Al Qaeda, but some shadow agency trying to get the peasants in line.
We the American people have had enough. Al Queda is gonna attack malls and the Mexico border is STILL wide open? Who’s fault is that George? The American people have spoken on this issue. SECURE THE BORDERS!!!
Instead you choose to frighten your people, ignore their demands and strip away liberty.
Al Queda, indeed.

Actually, I think that’s 35% of Americans.
It could work either way, though, since Republicans are rotten traitors who want to destroy our freedoms and our economy, to serve the super-rich, they really aren’t Americans.

What a helpful news media. When the government issues a warning they call it scare mongering. When they don’t and something happens, they blame them after the fact. The real enemy are the parasites on society that make terrorism possible: liberals and journalists.

The press really is funny. Today the NY Times reported on Al Qaeda fleeing Baghdad, except they put it on page 19, and did not identify AlQaeda in the headlines…they called it a “militant group.” Almost like they don’t want you to know that America is besting AlQaeda.
But then, you see a story like this, and the headline isn’t “militant group threatens malls,” it’s “AlQaeda” threatens malls. Almost like the press wants to play up the threats…but not the victories.
I blame George Bush, obviously.

Hey Gabacho:
The reason that they won’t do those intelligent things that happened are for the same reasons we didn’t have air marshalls BEFORE 9-11. It will take another 9-11 to get these IDIOTS to understand that we are in danger. But rather than wise up, they will blame the bombing on another conspiracy theory.
I don’t know if they will ever open their eyes to the danger until we parallel Israel in how we live our day-to-day lives.
They can kill our soldiers, bomb our malls, fly planes into our buildings full of innocent people and some how, some way, it will be our fault.
I just don’t get it.

Hey IMHO:
But I’M not controlled by anyone and the government didn’t release the 9-11 video… the NEWS MEDIA did.
If you don’t believe that there are people who perceive us as weak and unable to defend ourselves and are ready, able and willing to kill us, then I don’t think that there’s any hope for you.
And the fact that you think so highly of yourself because you don’t “buy” into one side or the other, makes no difference to anyone.
Whether you’re on the right or the left, if you don’t have the strength of your convictions, you don’t matter. Remember, a Moderate is someone who claims not to be rushed into deciding anything because he/she waits for a majority opinion to be formed and then jumps on board.
There’s no honor in that. Go with that you know and stick with it. Our society is too worried about exit strategies before we’ve tuffed out the hard stuff and the enemy sees this and will just wait us out. We are in big trouble.

Several attacks have already been stopped. But, you liberals say nothing about that. Part of me wishes Al-qaada would succeed and do it by coming through the Mexico border. This may be the only way we get serious about closing our borders to illegals. If we do not close them soon, we will be overrun with illegals. if you will look at statistics by many, you will find out 14 million jobs in Texas, almost one million are filled by illegals. Many of these were good paying jobs! Texas will seen be “little Mexico” and be more then 50% Mexican. When this happens, we will soon have the same problems that are in Mexico. Want to solve health care, education, unemployment, and poverty? Close the borders! This will provide more jobs, raise wages, more will be able to by insurance, billions will be saved by not providing social services to illegals, and the education of American kids will get better, and there will be a lot less drugs in the U.S. Be American, and tell your senator you want the borders closed! Be American. We cannot save all the world. Mexico’s problem is due to corruption. If we do not allow Mexico to send us their problems, they will be forced to fix them.

Hey Dave J.,
Perhaps you can paint a picture of a rosier economy. Historically low unemployment (technically, unemployment is negative given that we’re employing millions of illegals); Historically high home ownership (foreclosures included); federal debt still well within the GDP (and relatively lower than it was during the high in the Clinton years). I’m left wondering what your reference point is; maybe you prefered the Carter economic paradigm. I’m no Bush apologist but you people have been saying the economy is a house of cards for going on 5 years. I hate to be the one to break it to you but as economies go it doesn’t get much better than this.

Do most Americans even know or care that people are trying to kill us? Probably not. They seem to be too wrapped up in which video to post to Idiot-Tube or which color I-Pod or Lexus I250 to get themselves for Christmas. So why bother warning us? As long as nothing happens, do we really need to know?
We don’t take the government seriously anyway, despite everything that is being done on our behalf to protect us. And we can’t tell the difference between people getting blown up due to incompetence/failure to stop it or some wild intentional conspiracy to let it happen. So maybe we don’t deserve the warning or the protection. If the government prevents/stops the attacks, then the enemy is “fiction”. If you let them happen, then it is a conspiracy to declare war on yet another country.
The hard working men and women that are working 24 hours a day to protect us get no respect from Americans that think Montreal is the capital of France.

What does it take to get through to the ignorant masses? 9/11 cut through the fog of their self obsessed existence for a brief period, as long as it was on television. I have spent many years in the middle east. These people want the U.S. destroyed and all of us subjugated or dead. Shopping malls are nothing, wait until they finally manage to smuggle in a nuke and take out an entire city. Of course as soon as that ceases to be the first story reported on the television news the ignorant masses will again act in the same manner as they are now. I now live on a warm sunny island, do not travel by air, avoid crowded situations, and honestly cannot remember when I last visited a shopping mall. I’m back in Florida where I grew up during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I Spent 25 years in the military. I learned, and I and my family are prepared. Good luck to the rest of you.

I’m hoping this is a cross-section of the political wonks and extremists, and not a measure of the temperment of most Americans. I think if it were so, we’d already be in another Civil War. I don’t think most Americans are ‘sheep,’ as both sides here seem to think. Nothing like fear to generate such rhetoric of anger and hate. My question is this: Why is nearly everyone in this column so fearful?

Classic terrorist method: Talk up a good threat. Make sure people worry. Let the FBI issue a bullitan. The season passes, no action. But there didn’t need to be.
Then later, little chatter, no warning and zap…
When will the warning be real and nobody listens like the boy who cried wolf?
Why is the FBI saying that it might be disinformation? Either they believe its real or they don’t. Or is this a way to attempt to take people’s minds off the economy, the war and an inept president?
Stores won’t hurt that much if people don’t crowd the malls. Ever heard of online shopping? And if you avoid those holiday crushes you help save your sanity and chances of catching the flu.

What’s wrong with you people? Half of you losers can’t write a complete sentence and the other half can’t reason. First of all, the dollar is weak because of our tax policies. Money from the means of production is taxed going out and taxed again coming in. This is not the fault of the current administration. You can thank FDR and subsequent adminstrations that believed in progressive tax policies for that. Second, it is important to get this information out as our government is constitutionally mandated to protect us from enemies both foreign and domestic. We have created several fronts in the War on Terror so we don’t have to have one here. The practitioners of the wonderful, serene, peace loving cult of Islam will figure out at some point how simple it will be to attack our malls, movie theaters, schools and buses. You had better be ready. Moreover, you had better be smart enough not to elect a Democrat to the White House in next November. She’ll be too busy fighting “global warming”, the evil rich and robbing you of more of your hard earned income to socialize medicine “for the children” to notice there is a real threat to our national security. If you want to do something for the children beat the Islamic fascists into a giant pit and fill it with water. Oh wait, the Democrats wouldn’t do that. That would be a waste of water.

All I can say is that I am thankful that we have a strong, courageous leader like President Bush. It’s because of his strong leadership that we have been kept safe.
I cannot fathom the destruction to our country that will take place if the cowardly, cut and run Marxist’s ( I mean Democrats) are in power. If they get the Presidency we’re doomed. Run the democrat/commies out of town and elect strong, moral leaders who govern based on 3 priciples: limited government, strong national defense, traditional family values.

Last December, a Muslim man identified as Derrick Shareef, a/k/a Talib Abu Salam Ibn Shareef planned to set off at least four and possibly more hand grenades and improvised explosive devices at the CherryVale Shopping Mall in Rockford, near Interstate 90 and Interstate 39, about 75 miles north of Chicago. Talib Abu Salam Ibn Shareef was arrested by FBI agents from the Chicago Joint Terrorism Task Force before he had the opportunity to set his plans in motion. The mall has about 130 retail stores and was one of “several potential targets” that also included a list of federal buildings as well. According to authorities, he planned to detonate explosives at the shopping mall during the Christmas shopping season. So you see, you can think that past warnings were BS when, in fact, they weren’t. Are your liberal agendas so important and your arrogance so deep seated that you really think you can laugh this stuff off? Your ignorance is dangerous.

I think we need to always take these warnings seriously. These enemies just may be messing with our heads–making it appear that they are about to do something whey they aren’t for quite awhile then WHAM! RIGHT WHEN WE LEAST EXPECT IT!
Just never be afraid to report anything suspicious that you may hear or see to the police as soon as possible.
Big crowd sporting events are also danger spots.
Remember Pearl Harbor, no one was expecting that either. Please for your own good, don’t make fun of those who are trying to protect us.

This is awesome! So what? The main place that needs to be focused on is our credit bureau. Most shop on line with credit cards, get gas, food, and live off of credit and direct deposits.
If we stopped spending as a nation for more than a day our government would be broke (not that we aren’t already), but I hope you get the picture. That’s what would break us. Yes or no?

As hard as it may be for some of the cynics here to believe, these warnings are primarily for law enforcement agencies, the postal service, and so forth who have standards of increased security that go in to place when there is a possibility of a terrorist action.

just read THIS…
“Hey Dave J.,
Perhaps you can paint a picture of a rosier economy. I hate to be the one to break it to you but as economies go it doesn’t get much better than this.”

dude, just pick up any newspaper, read the headlines and quit listening to rush limbaughs’ oxycontin induced ramblings.
oh i forgot, all the news sources are lib propaganda, except for drudge and rush…no need to read the news i guess is there A? you already have your mind made up without the need of any facts eh? yours is the prototypical republican “thought” pattern in action for sure.
this economy is in a SHAMBLES and please dont use republican spin statistics to prove any point economic ,thats like quoting wikipedia for a reliable point of reference.
and btw,you need to check your facts. the clinton administration had the first budget SURPLUS in years (since 1969 as a matter of fact…) and did so while keeping ww3 from erupting in serbia as well. bill clinton was the best president for this countries’ health since jfk (who was a REAL democrat and kicked some butt and took names in ww2, not to mention backing the russians down over the cuban missles back before you were born probably )btw ,unlike that russian butt kisser gwb.
and to the folks who are saying dems are scared to fight a war ,have you ever heard of ww2 and perhaps fdr? (one of the greatest presidents in history) he was a real chicken heart that fdr…
democrats being scared of war as a party ? check your history books (if you have access to any objective sources, which i kinda doubt…) before you talk that ignorant trash rhetoric. the big difference is that the democrats generally dont go around looking for trouble to make a few elitists rich(er) at the countries’ expense nearly as readily as the warhawking brown nosing republicans do ,and thats not being scared ,thats being RESPONSIBLE to the voter/taxpayer!

Everyone is so dismissive of terrorists threats until they happen. I vaguely recall all of downtown New York City covered in debree and 20 story tall smoke racing down streets and thousands of body parts being collected because virtually no survivors were left in one piece. Honestly I think it’s more likely that this attack will not happen, but mocking the threat while preaching death and destruction from global warming based on weather models that cannot even predict the past is foolish.

I have a question. What color will our threat level be? Remember that mess? It used to be that every time it changed, it made the news. But I couldn’t tell you the last time it changed from Elevated. We get these warnings about a threat every holiday season. I avoid the malls during the holidays anyway because of the craziness and the parkings so it wouldn’t affect me anyway. Now if they hit all of the WalMarts, then the economy is in big trouble. But since we are THIS close to a Recession anyway, it wouldn’t surprise me if something totally unrelated gets pumped up by the media and helps the economy tank.

Let me address on piece of dis-information I’ve seen repeated here and elsewhere endless times. That is GASOLINE IS MORE EXPENSIVE! Since when? When I first got a learners permit in California in the mid sixties gas has gone from about 30 cents a gallon to about $3 a gallon. Average income for a family has gone from about $5K a year (My mother brought home $100 a week for a family of four) to about $50K (My family of three brings in over twice that but I’m speaking of averages) so give-or-take a few percentage points, gas is the same price in constant dollars as it was in the sixties. P.S. Don’t look now but no one with a lick of sense thinks the U.S. economy is doing poorly.

After 9-11, a lot of people attacked the government for not releasing information about possible threats in advance, saying the public has the right to know. Now that the government releases information they claim it is just a trick to scare us. Doesn’t matter what the government does, because either way it is wrong.
And just what is so unbelievable about the fact that the feds could have monitored this type of conversation or e-mail traffic? Forgetting 9-11, after Madrid, multiple incidents in London, Bali, the attempt on the German train, the recent attempts in Scandanavia, and 100 other attacks, is it so absurd that there may be “chatter” about this? After all, the anti-Bush crowd claims he generated such hatred. What are they supposed to do with their anger? Send letters to the editor?

It’s not necessary for al Qaeda to try and hurt us at the malls…China is doing that for them. Still the liberals refuse to believe we are at war; dead bodies scattered through a mall would not hold their attention for more than a few weeks.

Senator Ted Kennedy advocates gun control to prevent Al Kaida from getting guns. Seems to me that guns will always be easier to steal (from cops, if necessary) than airplanes.
On the other hand, armed shoppers could stop an AK-47 attack, as Israeli shoppers have discovered. Suicide bombs are another matter; nothing will work against that, short of punishing the bombers’ families.

You know, life is a terminal condition. Everybody who is born will die of something. For Americans, the odds of dying from a terrorist attack are less than of dying from a meteor strike. If you’re not killed by a terrorist bomb in the mall, then sooner or later all that pizza you’re sucking down at the food court will do you in–and death by junk food is a lot more likely than death by terrorist.
The whole purpose of terrorism is…well…terror. The goal is to cause us to live in fear, give up liberties, and abandon the principles our country was founded on.
I think we’d be a lot better off if we just recognized that risk is a price we pay for living in a free society, instead of letting fearmongers control us, whether they’re announcing their own planned attacks or breathlessly warning us about “unverified” threats for their political agendas.

Responding to the poster who wants to know if waterboarding is acceptable if we know it could stop an attack of this type that would take place in 1-2 days:
How do you KNOW the attack is imminent?
How do you KNOW the guy who you’re going to torture has information that will stop the attack?
How do you KNOW that he will provide truthful information, or any information at all, if you use waterboarding?
The answer is, you only know this if those are the conditions of the fictional scenario you’ve created. In real life, this you never have this sort of certainty. That’s why we try to establish policies that protect both the rights of prisoners and the integrity of the information we seek from them, rather than torturing people we don’t KNOW are guilty until they tell us whatever they think we want to hear, whether it’s true or not.

Every year or so, mainly around election time, we start getting these WARNINGS. The GOP gain from them whether or not the attack happens or it doesn’t happen.
If it doesn’t happen they still gain from putting FEAR back into our neighborhoods.
If one should happen (and I happen to think we’ve already had a couple – just been told it was something else) – then the GOP can claim “Look how long we’ve kept them off our backs – just gives you more reason to continue voting us into power…we will protect you.”

The day that America wakes up and discovers its ‘allies’ have been spying and undermining its security efforts is still a long way off. Extra Credit: search on “by way of deception, thou shalt do war” and you will find the key behind the “War on Iraq”.

Latterdater: We hear all these “plots” expoed in the nick of time such as the one you note in Chicago, however I see no news stories about the convictions of either this guy, the JFK bomb plotters, or the Fort Dix guys. Seems to me that these legal convictions should be plastered on the news if there was enough evidence to convict. If there wasn’t enough evidence to convict, one has to wonder if these stories like the hazy threat in the above article are a phantom menace.
The difference between the pre-9/11 warnings and the above news “story” is that the pre-9/11 warnings came from MULTIPLE CREDIBLE sources, just read the 9/11 commission report.
Seems like the HSA and TSA have been able to whip people into a frenzy, spend a lot of money, & kill tourism, but that’s about it. What a great achievement- NOT! Keep looking for those shoe bombs in airports without chemical sniffers and confiscating sealed bottles of water.

Achtun! German-Dick “criminal regimes which suppress their own population” We expended over 400,000 souls fighting your “criminal regime”…and after we freed you from that regime, we fed you and protected you from the commies. We have a vested interest through-out the world…period! America has nothing to apologize for… except the Clinton’s.

Ricardo Maxwell: Being an apologist for the anti-Constitutionalist “Right wing” is not something to be proud of. You supporters are doing more to damage the Bill of Rights than any Al-Quaeda operative ever could with any amount of explosion. When the USA ceases to adhere to due process, presumption of innocence, the right to assemble in protest, and the right to criticise members of our government, we are no longer the sons & duaghters of the American Revolution’s legacy. People of your ilk are the same apologists who clamoured for security and protection of the “homeland” after the Reichstag fire. How did that turn out? In a free society, bad things happen. You go after those who bankrolled and perpetreated the acts, not put 3/4 of a million people on a watch list. That is just logic.

I sincerely doubt there will be much traffic in the malls considering the state of the economy. I, myself, won’t be going. Since the fanatics don’t seem to have any problem with China, I suggest we just give our country to China. We’re almost there anyway. That should end all future terrist attacks.

Billy Bob: Thanks for blaming FDR for a weak dollar today, however your logic is flawed. The dollar was pretty stong from the time his policies were enacted in the late 1930′s through the 1990′s.
For a failed progressive tax policy, don’t you think that’s a long time to take effect if that was the correct cause? How was it during most of the time FDR’s policies were not mesed with, we were the great lender nation as opposed to being the great debtor nation?
Rather, I think you should look at the policies of Nixon, Reagan, GHWB, and Clinton to see why the country is in the sad financial shape it is in. They took FDR’s framework and cannibalised in the name of giving corporations more lattitude with trickle down economics to shaft the American worker in a multitude of ways.

This is just more BS! Another way to attempt to put FEAR into our heads during a major holiday. If “the terrorist” do bomb us, besides losing innocent lives at our mall, we have lost nothing else. Our economy already is going down. Our dollar is worth less. We are fighting in the “War on terror” but we are not. Why are we over there? Oh, yeah it was to fight terrorism, or take out Sadam, or get oil???? Waste our money and kill our soilders! This will give our lovely gov’t yet another reason to create FEAR and hostility into our heads. We trained binlauden before “he” attacked us. We put sadam into power, took him out, put him in…… When things help US, who cares about THEM? Is that not our gov’t motto?????

I think it’s about time we faced the fact that there’s no way to GUARANTEE absolute safety. So many people are upset about immigration laws, but even if they were enforced, it still wouldn’t take us down to a zero percent chance of an attack. Besides, what about our own homegrown wackos, the ones born and bred right here in the good ‘ol U.S. of A.? I mean really, what do people expect the government to do? Last I knew, miracles were the specialty of God, not the U.S. government. Do people expect our leaders to turn America into a military state and have everyone of us surveilled? After all, how are they to know for sure whether YOU or I are a threat…hmm? Perhaps you should be prepared to hear, “Big Brother’s watching.”

Does it really matter if the President does or doesn’t suck…how about actually paying attention here! I work part time in a Chicago-land Mall for extra cash. The last bomb threat we had…of wait, didn’t hear about that, did you…no, because they didn’t wan to scare folks into staying away from the malls…forgot, we’re not supposed to talk about it…..it took over an hour for all store to be notified….and an additional hour to evacuate the mall..with one stupid woman wanting to know if she could buy a sweater before she was ‘kicked out’.
The mentality level of the public is amazing! The threats are real and it’s only a matter of time. Let’s blame the President. Oh please. How about we blame ourselves?! It doesn’t matter who is in office, because if they want to strike, they will.
The sarcasm from people is pathetic here ‘oh no, not the malls’. Guess what, real people work there and families all go just to get out of their house. The one’s who are being sarcastic will be the first one’s in line to sue or to be on the news about how they lost someone.

I just can’t believe the number of leftists comments here. It’s all Bush’s fault, Cheney’s the real terrorist, Halliburton’s evil…blah…blah…blah.
You don’t even believe there IS a war on terror. There really AREN’T ANY Islamofacists, just economically challenged freedom fighters.
Just after the 9-11 attacks, I recall seeing a jihadi training video from an Afghanistan camp. The trainees were shooting at a picture of Bill Clinton!!! What did Clinton do to them? Especially after essentially saving the Bosnian Muslims.
They were also firing at a Star of David AND, get this, a Christian Cross!!! Economically challenged indeed. Have you also noticed how thousand year old Bhuddist statues have been obliterated? Seeing any pattern yet????
There IS an enemy out there who wants all westerners dead, or converted to Islam, or to become Dhimmi. (Check wikipedia if you haven’t a clue)

Ahh, the illusion of safety. The power of fear. Flood the market with random BS stories about possible information about a threat that may or may not exist, that is planning or not planning to blow up something. “hoped to disrupt the U.S. economy and has been planning the attack for the past two years.” If this “thinking enemy” is really that, they would simply see that we’re doing a fine job of DESTROYING our economy. The Canadian Dollar is worth more than the United States Dollar… The peso is next.

You people seem to be so anti-bush that you just ignore what can and is very likely to actually happen.
Just an FYI – middle eastern men were caught photographing and videotaping the inside of a mall near my office park less than six weeks ago and taken in for questioning. I live north of Boston.
Just because it hasn’t happened in six years does not mean it won’t happen again. It is complacent people like you that are the exact reason we are prime targets for this happening again. Its fairly well known that americans in general come together in time of need, and then quickly get loose interest and move on to other things and forget anything ever happened.

First off- there was no government conspiracy on 9/11 clowns, so please try not to wet yourselves. Three people can only keep a secret if two of them are dead, and Bush and co. could have achieved the same goal through far less risky measures. Sheesh.
Second- the intelligence communities are reeling from past failures. Generally based on stingy policy over information sharing. This latest is an attempt to disclose ALL information. If there would be an attack, we’ll be watching for it, and americans, like britons, will call it off for them. We certainly won’t stop shopping- most americans say screw the terrorists.
Also, Osama has noticed that his own policy of attack anyone/anywhere/anytime isn’t paying off, and he is sensitive to appearance. Attacking on Christmas would not be an attack against the ‘great satan’ but against CHRISTIANS. This would create a backlash he couldn’t manage, and only move to bring more of the world’s resources against him.
This is what people are supposed to want- open government. Here it is. Take it for WHAT it is- a simple note of potential warning.

This all goes deeper than George W. Bush and Co. There are deeper organizations that you will never know of, you “right wing” faithfuls will say this is a conspiracy theory… You “left wing” folks will say that this is a conspiracy theory. You’ve all fallen into the trap that was set up so long ago… It’s very easy to control humans Divide and Conquer, spread the fear, layer it with the illusion of safety, and add just a pinch of shiny stuff to distract them. Soon enough the “conspiracy theorists” will be proven right, and it will either be too late, or you people can wake up and fight the fight that is worth fighting. Beyond that in the scope of the universe, this little science experiment called earth will eventually end, and we’ll all be back where we came from.

A few months after 9-11 I saw a mand that looked part asian/part middle eastern who was short and stocky with a video camera in Crabtree valley mall in Raleigh, NC filming the structural pillars on the lower level by the area where the cars and trucks are where kids can ride them for money. As this man was filming, he was rotating and stopped filming when he saw me looking at him. I gave him a funny look and he dropped the camera to look at me and then walked real fast for a bit and then ran down the mall. I called the mall security and they just blew me off. Just an FYI

The real news in this article is the second to last paragraph.
“Out of abundance of caution, and for any number of other reasons, raw intelligence is regularly shared within the intelligence and law enforcement communities — even when the value of the information is unknown,” said Special Agent Richard Kolko.
The rest of this article is wasted space devoted to scaring casual readers into reading the full article. And of course, looking at any of the lovely advertisements that appear in the page.

When this regieme decides we need a “terrorist attack” to “wake the public up”, we will have it. Odd that the democrats, who are so complicit, simply do not point out each time one of these “warnings” of what “may” happen, do not point out that if any such thing occurs, it will be this regieme’s fault…(e.g. open borders, etc.) Perhaps the democrats do this because they are witting cooperatives of our new fascist state…Best to save their own jobs.

If it happens (hope not) the FBI will say “we warned you to be more vigilant” – if it does not happen, they will say “Our vigilance stopped all attacks”
Point of view 2
If it happens and they did not say a word, we will ask “why did you not know about this after all the billions we are spending to fight them over there”
If they did say something before, we will ask ” Since you knew you morons why did you not capture them or foil the attack?”
I am freakin confused.

As for me, I am not going to be strangled in fear. Fear is this great country at it’s weakest and collective fear allows more and more surrender of our civil liberties.

Let me break it down for you folks. The CIA RUNS AL QAEDA. Just as they did to the Black Panthers, the CIA penetrated the Muslim Brotherhood in the 70′s and is now controlling it.
Politicians are merely enablers and do not run the show.
The same teams of intelligence agencies (CIA, Mossad, MI-5, etc) are playing both sides of the field. They create Psychological Trauma through extreme events such as 9/11 and the 7/7 London bombings. They then highlight, replay, and reference the traumatic event repeatedly. Each time the public relives the event in their mind. Eventually the public’s minds are weakened into a state of submission. This is what its all about friends. Control the masses through a psychological grid of fear.
The only way out is to FREE YOUR MIND!!

This is consistent with al Qaeda’s objectives. They know that they cannot defeat the US militarily. The asymetrical attack is their most effective strategy. The attack would be directed against civilian targets, just as in the case of the 9/11 attacks. The intention of al Qaeda is to spread terror among the civilian population and disrupt our economy. Many of you liberal dodos and rabid Bush-haters can’t absorb these simple facts.
Whenever the Federal government tries to uncover one of these plots, you claim it’s just Bush trying to make political points with the neo-cons. Keep up your ignorance. It’s what al Qaeda wants. It’s no wonder that they supported Kerry for President in 2004 and supported Democrats in 2006. Keep up the bad work, boneheads. Al Qaeda is rooting for you to prevail.

When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and the rest of the Pacific/Asian countries and Hitler already started his march across Europe, the U.S. was a military mouse. Yet Franklin Delano Roosevelt said it best “We have nothing to fear but Fear itself.” I don’t think we’ll see Taliban/Terrorist/Al Queda bombers, battleships or landing craft crossing the Oceans. Nevertheless the current administration can only come up Fear as a motivational message. How Sad for the United States which led the allies to defeat the greatest military powers. If Bush thinks that Osama, Iran, N.Korea and Burma are the greatest threats to democracy in the last 100 years compared to Nazi Germany, Hirohito & Tojo, & Stalin and Mao, his father should force him to view Ken Burn’s “War” documentary twelve times.

Yup. Republicans down in the polls, closing in on the election, and the unverified and doubtful terrorism threats suddenly start.
Was this predictable or what?

All I can say is: Al Qaeda is in the Whitehouse!! Be afraid, be very afraid.
Posted by: P3n1x Envy | November 9, 2007, 5:23 pm 5:23 pm
Al Qaeda wants to disrupt the U.S. economy? Hasn’t anyone been reading the financial pages, lately? Anyone who’s paying attention already knows that our economy is imploding, now. The banking system is blowing out, the dollar is dropping like a stone and mass foreclosures will leave millions more people homeless. The danger isn’t an Al Qaeda attack on a shopping mall. It’s Dick Cheney going for another Reichstag Fire incident (or getting Rudy Giuliani elected president) so that he can finish the job of imposing a fascist dictatorship on the U.S.

Isn’t mindless fear a wonderful thing?

Whistlin’Dixie….Typical liberal, can’t read. The bulge in Yellowstone is rising 2.8 inches a year, not 3 inches a day. Al Qaeda is the threat not Yellowstone, go back to your coloring books.

it’s always the democrats who stop Bush from doing the right thing, then they’re the first ones to blame him for not doing something to take care of it

It’s not bush’s fault. It’s Carters’ GW Sr., Clinton’s, and W’s Fault. Every president since TAFT except Kennedy and Regan are to blame. It’s called nation building. W said he would not do it before he was elected, and on day he told his staff to find a reason to attack IRAQ. Now he wants to attack IRAN. If they do attack us, it is in self defense. WE are the ones to blame for letting all those in congress both Dems and Repubs for getting us into this crap.

You freaking idiot democrats. No judge elected Bush. The votes were counted over and over and over. It was the idiot media that TRIED to elect that idiot Gore and failed! I’m sick and tired of listening to you idiots spew that stupid crap. Hillary is the biggest idiot of all too! She voted for the war you stupid idiots! Why is it that she is not held accountable for that? She had the same information as Bush did you stupid idiots!

Shame. I can’t believe how many people hate our country so badly to still blame this all on Bush. You are the true american idiots and will be the reason this great nation falls. get your head out of your back door and look at the facts not the liberal lie machine.

lola wrote: “Just an FYI – middle eastern men were caught photographing and videotaping the inside of a mall near my office park less than six weeks ago and taken in for questioning. I live north of Boston.”
That’s funny lola, I live north of Boston as well and didn’t read anything about such an incident in any newspapers. In fact, none of the “events” in which “terrorists” were taken in for questioning resulted in any hard facts or formal charges.
Last time I checked, video cameras were readily available and legal. Maybe you’ve been brainwashed with fear and prefer to rat out your neighbors. MiddleEastern or Muslim does not always equate to being evil.

if these attacks happen thousands could die. will this wake our lawmakers up to the fact that war should be officially declared against islam itself. we need to eliminate this threat at least within our borders. these people need to be deported or detained, whatever can be legally done in times or WAR.

whoop-de-freaking-do, maybe it will keep Americans out of the malls and stop them from creating more debt

If the Gov’t did NOT say anything – and something happened – then these same holier-than-thou liberal pundits would be bashing the White House for NOT saying anything. So I guess I can’t wait for a stupid Dem to get into office – he/she is going to have the same situation W has now. I can then sit and make idiotic comments on how well that administration is handling things. Must be nice to still be protected and just mouth off.

The comments of the individuals to this blog are amazing and extremely ignorant. If, and God forbid, terrorists pull off an attack on a shopping mall, restaurant, theater, church or synagogue, the first thing the liberal media will do is ask “why didn’t Bush do something to stop it” — amazing ! ! ! God help us — Wes

What was this topic about???? Oh yea, the FBI drooled out a threat and the abc darlings sent it packing for them. Talk about ENABLERS…Now how are we going to shop if the FBI threatens our check out lines???? BAD FBI…when you get another FAX from HOMELAND SENILITY how about sending it back marked…CROSS ME OFF YOUR LIST… EXCLUSIVE R US JOURNALISTS.

I think the message from both camps is pretty clear: get out of the mall. Visit your local mom & pop, or shop online. Good, it’s about time someone stood up to those mega-corporations ruling the mall scene. Now, hopefully, there will be a reduced Christmas season, and people will concentrate on what’s important during the holidays: Holiday-themed cartoons.

No, please don’t take away my mall! I’ll do anything…well, anything I can think of, which isn’t much, since I’ve been to the mall way too much this year. Please, I need to go to the mall this year for…well, frankly, I can’t think of a thing. Never mind. Emergency over. Carry on.

This just goes to show how the country really cares for us. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!! This is all we hear, from year to year since 9/11. Haven’t seen anything. Right? Just like “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”!!!

To those who believe that “the Terrorists are out there and they want to kill YOU”, I beg you for perspective. To those who believe that George W and the neocons are sowing fear over an insignificant threat, I beg you for perspective. The truth as usual is in the boring middle ground but the consequences for not understanding this ARE, in fact, extreme.
Terrorist are indeed out there and now that there’s no Soviet Union to stick its thumb in the eye of the #1 world power from time to time, the latent global hatred against that power has no release valve and is finding its expression mostly in fundamentalist Islam who just happen to have had quite a jump on everyone in the business of organized global hatred. Just wait, you’ll see offshoots of the AlQaeda model only rooted in other historical grievances. BUT, despite the fact that terrorists are indeed “out there”, we have to ask ourselves if they really truly represent a risk to our daily lives as Americans. The answer is philosophically, realistically, and statistically not UNLESS you count what is happening right here as I, ironically, write on my keyboard. I just took ten minutes out of my awesome American life to read another terrorism alert and post on an unbelievably long thread. How stupid and unproductive is that?
These alerts are useful as long as they’re specific and meet a minimum threshhold of credibility. But if you’re not directly affected, I say LET’S ALL AGREE TO STOP TALKING ABOUT IT. Not just on the blogs but in our daily lives. Can you imagine how discouraged a terrorist would be to see one of their bombs met with a calm measured reaction and general silence among the public? The fact that we’re all breathlessly debating and blaming our favorite political punching bag is precisely the wrong strategy for combating the threat. Short of any humanitarian assistance to those seriously affected, I think I’ll start a personal “Campaign of Indifference to Terror”.
Join me?

I want to know if soft targets are “on the table” for al qaeda and killing our civilians is ‘OK’ then why are the civilians in Waziristan exempt from reprisals?
Posted by: supercoolhead | November 14, 2007, 9:03 pm 9:03 pm
Haven’t we heard this before? Terrorists “may” strike unverified targets at *some* point in time. While technically true, it’s not very helpful.

BOB from Nov. 8th. Don’t like it here – Get out Merikan. President Bush is the cleverest man ever in the White House!

After reading many of the sarcastic posts I have learned those ‘merikans have not lost their sense of humor! And by the way, take it easy on us Canadians. We have enough security issues with used nuclear submarines, dog-eared helicopters, but we are spending more money sending our troops to far away places like Afghanistan….Iraq. So……

For those of you who are making a damn joke of this, saying “big deal”, my husband works as an operating engineer at a Chicago mall, so maybe you should keep your damn mouths shut. If there was a threat at one of your comfy office building you’d be shaking in your boots. Any sort of threat is not a joke

This is a serious problem..the malls are the most crowded places in the US..A terrorist attack at the US malls can bring a lot of damage..so, this time its better to go for online shopping , rather than hitting the nearest shopping mall..
