Hillary’s Dream Date: A Republican?
ABC News’ Rick Klein Reports: Conspiracy theorists delight: Asked who she’d go out with on a date — with any celebrity, living or dead — and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton chose . . . a Republican.
Her fantasy date would be with President Abraham Lincoln, Clinton said in an interview being published in the People magazine hitting newsstands Friday.
The question: "If your husband gave you a pass for one night and you could go on a date with any celeb, alive or dead, who would it be?"
Clinton’s answer: "That’s such a dangerous question! How about Abraham Lincoln?"
Another surprising tidbit: Despite the 19-hour days she puts in on the trail, she’s apparently never heard of the energy drink Red Bull. Asked if she’s ever had one, she replied, "No. What is it?"
Clinton, D-N.Y., also equivocates on a few either-or questions: She refused to choose between comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, said she likes both wine and beer, and wouldn’t select either "American Idol" or "Dancing With the Stars"; she said her mother — who lives with the Clintons — keeps her up to speed on both programs.
She did, however, choose Weight Watchers over the South Beach Diet — but didn’t elaborate on her own eating habits.
She also said she’s never had cosmetic surgery: "People have to decide what’s right for them. It’s never been anything I thought was right for me."
Clinton weighs in on the Texas polygamy sect, expressing some sympathy for the women who entered into polygamous marriages.
"Many of these women were raised in the sect, isolated from the outside world from birth," Clinton told People. "It takes an enormous amount of independent thinking to lift yourself out of the circumstance you’ve been born and raised in to say, ‘Wait a minute, this isn’t right.’ "
She also credits her husband with making the clinching argument in convincing her to run for president.
Said Clinton, "He finally said, ‘Well, you have to decide whether you could do what your country needs — and whether you’d be willing to subject yourself to the process.’ Then he said, ‘If we end up with another Republican president and you didn’t even try . . .’ And that kind of clinched it for me."

Hill the Bosnian General was living her whole adult life in a polygamous relationship, she means she did not know that Bill was having affairs everyday. She has to Ken Sarr who has helped her and Bill to stop it officially anyway. Thanks Lord.

What an absolutely ridiculous title for this even more inane article. Asking Clinton whom she would date is nonsensical. The fact that she choose Lincoln has less to do with the fact that he was a republican, than it does with the fact that he was an extraordinary person. Furthermore, the republican’s were extremely different in the nineteenth century than they are today. Lincoln, if alive today, would be a moderate democrat.

The more I think about this, the better.
Mc Cain needs to just copy all the good parts of Obama’s rhetoric about the war and the economy.
Obama has earmark problems, and certainly credibility problems as a radical leftist.
Mc Cain just has to sever ties to the bush administration, and claim a NEW republican party.
What does Obama have left? They will AGREE on the issues. Obama will have pro choice vs pro life, which is always going to have conservatives vote for Mc Cain, and liberals for Obama.
The only chance Obama has of winning the general election is if Mc Cain insists that winning the war in Iraq FOREVER .
He needs to rebuild his platform on the war and economy, and healthcare. He needs to simply adopt much of what Clinton -then Obama – has already said.

I’m shocked, Hillary can’t make up her mind on so many important choices. If she actually chose one side, then the other side might not like her, and that can’t happen in her world. So she takes every side of every issue and looks like your normal two-faced politician. It’s pathetic.

Clearly, the Clintons know they have already lost the 2008 nomination and are doing their best to elect John McCain, so Hillary can run again in 2012. Her slogan: “See, I told you Obama was unelectable.” Yes, witch, because you trashed him so much.
A wonderful future Hillary wishes on us: President McCain, bread lines, soup kitchens, massive unemployment and poverty, a new war: Iran. Thanks, Bill and Hill. It’s all about you, as usual.

I am so, so tired of “hard working blue collar workers” acting like they have some inherent right to make decisions for the rest of us. What about those of us “hard workers” whose collars aren’t blue? Why is it that the “blue collars” think of themselves as the only “True Americans” whose approval should be the litmus test for a presidential candidate? Talk about elitism. There’s nothing dishonorable about being a blue collar worker (my dad was one his entire working life), and I’m sure there are plenty of these types who are well-informed and politically astute; but there’s nothing dishonorable about being a college-educated professional, either. We all have a vested interest in the economy, affordability of health care, peace and security, educational opportunities for our children, etc. Stop trying to foist this sense of entitlement on the rest of us. We’re all Americans — regardless of the color of our skin OR our collars. You go on and cling to your god and your guns… I’ll cling to my latte and liberal causes. We still have much in common and all this fingerpointing and chest-beating is awfully stupid and counterproductive.

Hillary did not disown Rev. Wright when he was invited to the Whitehouse to provide spiritual counsel to the Clinton’s during Monicagate. Let’s get real, the Clinton’s also very much have some sort of unholy alliance with this man. His timing is impeccable if he was seeking to hurt Obama and help Hillary. “There’s something happening here..what is ain’t exactly clear..hey stop what’s the sound..everybody look what’s going round.” We are in the last throws of the death of old politics. Hillary reminds one of Linda Blair in the exorcist, the American public is trying to exorcize this demon from the body politic but it keeps popping up with its head spinning around. Saying “Rev Wright is a bad man..Obama is black…look at my dyed blonde hair, fake blue eyes courtesy of contacts and white skin.” I am the last standing white candidate, vote for me, I wil protect you. Hillary’s is fool’s gold to the working glass. They will be the first to feel the knife going in if they put this godforsaken fraud anywhere near the Whitehouse.

To all the pro clinton folks. Are you insane? They said they’d throw the kitchen sink at Obama, when it was obvious he’d win the nomination, and then they did it. Obama took the high ground and continues to, only having to stoop to her level when he has to defend himself. If the public support for the war was 56% she’d be for it. Her judgement was awful when they voted for the war and Obama took a strong stand against it. He was right about how it went. No way he could have run if the war turned out to be a good idea. Hillary triangulates everything so that whatever happens, she can at least have an “out” in the argument.
Obama is going to win the nomination, and there is no reason Hillary supporters shouldn’t support him. He didn’t lower the dialogue, she did. If you can’t see that, please try to disconnect your emotion from this and look again.
Btw, who did the Clinton’s call on to help with their marriage after the Monica ordeal?

Think of it like firefighters or police force.

JERUSALEM – Barack Obama’s military adviser and national campaign co-chairman has implied U.S. politicians are afraid of Jewish voters in Miami and New York City and a strong Democratic State the symbol of the Kennedy’s MA. They may go RED in November! He stated that American Jews are the “problem” impeding a solution to the Israeli-PLO/Hamas Arab Muslim Nazi conflict.
Merrill A. McPeak, a former Air Force chief of staff, also compared the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist organizations to what he described as religious radicals in Oregon and claimed “born-again [Christians]” supported the war in Iraq to help Israel.
Discussing Middle East politics during a 2003 interview with the Oregonian newspaper McPeak stated, “We don’t have a playbook for the Middle East. You know, for instance, obviously, a part of that long-term strategy would be getting the Israelis and the PLO/Hamas Arab Muslim Nazis together at . . .something other than a peace process. Process is not a substitute for achievement or settlement. And even so the process has gone off the tracks, but the process isn’t enough.”
The Oregonian interviewer asked McPeak whether the problem in solving the Israeli-PLO/Hamas Arab Muslim Nazi conflict originated with the White House or the State Department.
“So where’s the problem?” the interviewer asked.
McPeak replied, “New York City. Miami. We have a large vote – vote, here in favor of Israel. And no politician wants to run against it.”
McPeak went on to insist that to solve the conflict, Israelis must “stop settling the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and maybe even withdraw some of the settlements that’ve already been put there. And nobody wants to take on that problem. It’s just too tough politically.”
McPeak did not point to PLO/Hamas Arab Muslim Nazi terrorism or the recent election of Hamas to power as problems impeding an Israeli-PLO/Hamas Arab Muslim Nazi peace deal.
As a follow-up question, the Oregonian interviewer asked McPeak whether “there’s an element within Hamas, Hezbollah, that doesn’t want Israel to exist at all and always will be there?”
McPeak responded by comparing the two terror groups to “radical” Oregonians.
“There’s an element in Oregon, you know, that’s always going to be radical in some pernicious way, and likely to clothe it in religious garments, so it makes it harder to attack. So there’s craziness all over the place.”
McPeak said there was “some” good will toward peace on the Israeli side, but qualified, “that’s maybe the more cosmopolitan, liberal version of the Israeli population – I think there’s enough good will there.
“I don’t know if there is still on the PLO/Hamas Arab Muslim Nazi side, because they’ve been radicalized pretty well,” McPeak said.
The McPeak interview circulated on several large blogs yesterday, including the popular Powerline blog, after it was first pointed out in the American Spectator online magazine by Robert Goldberg, a writer and vice president of the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest.
Interpreting the identity of voters in Miami and NYC McPeak had referred to, Goldberg stated: “Translation (as if it’s needed): Jews – who put Israel over every American interest – control America’s policy on the Middle East.”
Goldberg also pointed out McPeak once claimed Christian Zionists were driving America’s policy in Iraq to benefit Israel.
Stated McPeak while discussing the Iraq war: “Let’s say that one of your abiding concerns is the security of Israel as opposed to a purely American self-interest, then it would make sense to build a dozen or so bases in Iraq. Let’s say you are a born-again Christian and you think that Armageddon and the rapture are about to happen any minute and what you want to do is retrace steps you think are laid out in Revelations, then it makes sense . So there are a number of scenarios here that could lead you in this direction. This is radical….”
McPeak is the latest Obama adviser to be highlighted for controversial views regarding Israel.
WND recently quoted Israeli security officials who expressed “concern” about Robert Malley, an adviser to Obama who has advocated negotiations with Hamas and providing international assistance to the terrorist group
Also Samantha Power, who was described as Obama’s closest adviser until she resigned earlier this month after making strong remarks against Sen. Hillary Clinton, advocated in an interview investing “billions of dollars, not in servicing Israel’s military, but actually investing in the state of Eretz Yisrael.”
Stated Goldberg: “Obama has a Jewish problem and McPeak’s bigoted views are emblematic of what they are. Obama can issue all the boilerplate statements supporting Israel’s right to defend itself he wants. But until he accepts responsibility for allowing people like McPeak so close to his quest for the presidency, Obama’s sincerity and judgment will remain open questions.”

Reviewing Hillary’s methodical playing of the “Race card”, and “The Perpetual Victim” against Obama; her inability to control her own campaign finances; and, her recent commentary on: Iraq; Pakistan; Energy Policy; her stated intention to confiscate the profits of American energy companies; the need for her to control the 14 Trillion $ American Economy from her White House Politburo, since she has declared the free-market to be a failure (this from a woman who hasn’t managed so much as a corner vegetable stand, or for that matter her own marriage; but, of course you could count Whitewater, and her tenure as “Madam” and Bimbo Containment Chief for Bill’s White House Brothel); her Marxist statement in San Francisco: “We’re going to have to take more from you, and give it to others for the common good.”; Illegal Immigration; Taxes; Infanticide; Massive new Government spending; Multi million $ Senate earmarks for supporters of Hillary’s Presidential campaign; Garnishing of your wages to fund her coveted Socialized medicine program; a fanatical advocate of confiscating all civilian handguns; and, the Clinton’s history of emasculating the military, verifies that this grievously flawed woman would be the female version of the Jimmy Carter debacle that gave us the Ayatollah Khomeini who ushered in rampant Islamic radicalism; block-long lines at our gasoline stations; a severely hollow military; and, a record Misery Index. Only much worse. Considering all of Hillary’s recent gaffes, e.g. “I voted FOR IT (referring to the Bankruptcy Bill); but, I was glad to see that it didn’t pass.”; her hallucinations over “Landing under intense sniper fire in Bosnia.”; misrepresentations on NAFTA; or, her fantasized role in the Irish Peace Process; and, her increasingly frequent crying jags, one has to wonder if excessive use of Botox has affected her mental stability. It’s no wonder that her campaign staff is shielding her from reporter and audience unscripted questions. The prospect of Madam Hillary as President; in a word: TERRIFYING. Greg Neubeck

26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois – LIAR, even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.
27.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year – LIAR, they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.
28.) No One Contacted Canada About NAFTA – LIAR, the Candian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.

43.) I Inspire People With My Words – LIAR, you inspire people with other people’s words.
44.) I Have Passed Bills In The U.S. Senate – LIAR, you have passed A BILL in the U.S. Senate – for Africa, which shows YOUR priorities.
45.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq – LIAR, you weren’t in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time, unlike Kucinich, who seems to be out gutting you Obama. You also seem to be stepping back from your departure date – AGAIN.

50.) Wal-Mart Is A Company I Wouldn’t Support – LIAR, your wife has received nearly a quater of a million dollars through Treehouse, which is connected to Wal-Mart.
51.) Treehouse Is A Small Company – LIAR, the CEO of Treehouse last year, made more than the CEO of Wal-Mart, according to public records.
52.) University Of Chicago Hospital Pay Is Fair – LIAR, your wife’s pay raise was nearly 150% her already bloated rate and the hospital is a Non-Profit Hospital, which made $100,000,000 in the last 3 years. They overcharge blacks VS whites for services, and overcharge everyone in general by 538%!
53.)I Barely Know Rezko – Only 5 Billed Hours – LIAR, you have known him for 17 years, and decided to do a real estate deal with him during a time when he was proven to be under investigation. Despite this, you divided your property and had them take off $300K before the mortgage problems started. Then Rezko’s wife buys the lot beside it that you can’t afford, saving you $625,000.
54.) My Donations Have Been Checked Thoroughly – LIAR, you only gave back Hsu ($72K) and Rezko (first $66K, then when caught lying $86K, then when caught lying again $150K and now caught lying YET AGAIN OBAMA, it’s $250k) their money when publically called on their involvement in your campaigns.
55.) My Church Is Like Any Other Christian Church – LIAR, your church is so extreme, the pastor who married you, Rev. Wright, just got done blaming the US for 9/11 and named Louis Farrahkan their person of the year.
56.) I Disagree With My Church All The Time – LIAR, you still have yet to repudiate Wright, who married you and your wife, and you still donate large sums of money to assist the church in furthering its message – hatred and revenge. You donated in 2006 alone, $22,500 to the church that you so terribly disagree with. That is nearly $500 PER WEEK – that sure is disagreement, Senator Obama.
57.) I Have Clean Connections Despite Rezko – LIAR, you are not only connected to Exelon and Rezko, you are also connected to Hillary PAC supporter Mr. Hsu, AND an Iraqi Billionaire of ill repute, Nadhmi Auchi, who ripped off people in the Food For Oil, Iraqi deal. Seems Mr. Auchi may have helped Obama buy his million dollar property long before Obama had millions of dollars. Wonder what favors Mr. Auchi expects, when Obama leaves Iraq free to be taken over by special interests such as him.
58.) I never heard sermons like Rev. Wright’s, that have been in videos all day, You Tube – LIAR! 3 days later during your Mea Culpa BS speech you said “Did I hear controversial statements while I sat in that church? Yes I did.”
59.) The Passport Invasion is a conspiracy to find dirt on me! – LIAR. Your own Campaign Foreign Policy Advisor is the CEO of the company that looked into your records. PS – You had them look into yours to hide the fact you looked into Clinton’s and McCain’s more than a year before!
60.) Rev. Meeks has nothing to do with my campaigning – LIAR. Rev. Meeks appeared in ads for your Senate Campaign, donated to you, and helped raise money, then AND NOW. PS – He also seems to despise America.
61.) My wife didn’t mean America is ignorant, she was just using a phrase – LIAR. Again, MicHELLe’s comments perfectly sync with Wright’s, Meeks’, and Farrakhans, both in language, anger, and direction.
62.) I am very Anti-Terror – LIAR. [03/30/2008] One of your good pals is long time radical and terrorist William Ayers, with whom you have been seen in the last 12 months and who has helped the now jailed khalidi, Professor at Columbia who invited Ahmadinejad to the University, to raise money for Palestinian terrorism attacks against Israel. PS – Your church published a pro Hamas Manifesto – guess you weren’t there on THAT Sunday either? How lucky for you.

Rick Klein–
Thank you! I really enjoyed this read. This is the kind of enjoyable journalism, about a great American, Presidential Candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, that reminds us we live in a great country, run by people who care about it and are willing to sacrifice to keep it great. Senator Clinton’s choice of Lincoln is perfect!

correct me if i’m wrong, but wasn’t this before “republican” came to be known as the republican party of today that embraces more conservative political ideals? therefore, while it may be correct in a semantic sense, abraham lincoln was a “democrat” for his time, and “republican” only in that that was what the party was called at the time.

Clinton weighs in on the Texas polygamy sect, expressing some sympathy for the women who entered into polygamous marriages.
“Many of these women were raised in the sect, isolated from the outside world from birth,” Clinton told People. “It takes an enormous amount of independent thinking to lift yourself out of the circumstance you’ve been born and raised in to say, ‘Wait a minute, this isn’t right.’ ”
HEY, HILLARY SHOULD KNOW – AFTER ALL BILL HAS BEEN SEXUALLY ABUSING WOMEN FOR DECADES, WITH HILLARY DEFENDING HIM AND ATTACKING THE VICTIMS CHARACTERS THE ENTIRE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s nice to come to a site and read something neutral about Ms Clinton….I think the MSM underestimates the effect that pandering to Obama has had on the millions that have voted for Hillary and continue to support her. (More people than have voted for Obama—whether all our votes “count” or not).
Many of us feel our party has left us when we watch the media and see how party elders are behaving in this election.
MSNBC in touting one candidate over the other has only lost viewers in the process.
As Obama’s negatives continue to rise….Remember Hillary’s rising too!

Hillary Clinton was under attack by the press because she said way back in 1992 that she went to work because she couldn’t see herself making cookies all day. Ooooo how horrible. All the attacks on her were smears from a very conservative republican party at the time run by Newt Gingrich, who was having an affair of his own when President Clinton was.
All these stories about her are innuendo or misrepresentations. No other woman or man has ever been attacked so much and yet she is a brilliant person and know the issues and policies better than McCain and Obama combined. I think she would be a wonderful President and think she would actually be the one who would unite the Congress more than the other candidates too as she is a moderate and has worked with both democrats and republicans.
All this crap is generated by the press and people who have had it out for her and who don’t even know what she has done nor do they care. They just love hating her. I’ve asked some republicans buddies why and they didn’t have any reason, kind of like the Obama supporters who just like him but don’t have any knowledge of what he’s done in Congress or as an Illinois Senator.
The press needs to stop attacking the character of a person like they do celebrities and let us know more about issues and policies that we care about.
They need to grow up. All this nonsense is so high school.

fluff it seems is what sells to the current political audience on the left. The blather repeated over and over about the oh so eloquent pres wanna be and the she’s so polarizing blah blah blah..It’s clear the media selects the Democrat based on what starry eyed mushy brained…never paid any real taxes college drones scream at press covered politcal rock concerts. And geez McCain…for real….this is the best the right can come up with ?? I think the media picks the republican for sure..I want a diplomatic business man with common sense…no lawyers need apply. Romney get back in line..

I can’t believe the media is that stupid to write a story about a phoney woman who makes a phoney claim. Give it a rest. HRC and BO deserve each other and there is the horndog himself lurking behind the curtains, and McCain acting like he’s outraged that his opponents should be shown in a bad light. What a bunch of losers!

sounds like the War Hero has the better end of the deal, if you ask me….
to the guy wondering about whether the party of Lincoln in the 1860′s is the party we call Democrats today – NO, you are confusing this with the party of Jefferson in the early 1800′s which was called Democratic Republican, sometimes Republican, but is the Democrat party of today; the party of Lincoln has always been called Republicans and is the Republican party of today, although at varying times it has had larger and smaller liberal and conservative wings (as have the current Democrats at times)

whether or not Lincoln, if alive today, would be a republican or democrat – conservative, moderate, or liberal – has been a favorite late night question in college dorms at least since the 60′s and probably a lot longer; in any event he was a remarkable, remarkable man well worth spending an evening with no matter what your politics today; this has to be one of the first sensible ideas I have heard pass Hill’s lips

Where is this story…interesting it is not in the press…
Peter Paul vs.Hillary Clinton Election Fraud Case stuffed in a California Court
Get informed Voters…Is she ready at day one…
Paul vs. Clinton website launched By Kathy Miller | The Hillary ProjectPeter F. Paul has launched a new website to expose and inform the public of the upcoming landmark civil trial of Paul vs. Clinton. The case is pending in a California court against former President Bill Clinton, with Senator Hillary Clinton as a material witness.
A status conference hearing is scheduled for April 25, 2008, and a trial date is expected to be announced soon.
Discovery in the case is expected to begin in May, 2008 as it proceeds to trial.
The discovery will expose an ongoing cover-up of the campaign finance crimes and the obstructions of justice directed by Hillary Clinton with the help of Bill Clinton and former DNC Chair Ed Rendell. The cover-up rivals Watergate in its corruption of each branch of government and the media.

This country has two party and whoever the next president is has to take care both of them .
That question was not related to political issue.

It is terrifying to see that this woman has ANYONE convinced she’d make a good leader for our nation. She can’t even run a campaign well. She can’t tell the difference between dodging sniper fire and a greeting from a child WITH her child. She attacks Obama for things that other people say (I’d bet YOUR own children have said things you don’t like BUT that you still care about them), yet she has a spouse that embarrassed an entire nation (had a Monica lately?) with his behavior and lies… yet she stayed with him. She supported NAFTA (which has cost this country gravely), yet claims she didn’t. We’re SO LUCKY to have Obama to vote for! OBAMA 08!!!

Reading through comments left me wondering whether I should laugh or cry.
Do you folks really believe that there is any real difference between McInsane, Hitlery, or Obummer?
What do we have in this so-called campaign?
Three establishment owned shills who will will do whatever their Bankster Masters dictate.
War? Why sure – any one of the three is pro-war. The Military Industrial Complex has loaded Hitlery’s Coffers.
All three have expressed their obeisance to a foreign power that follows policies toward its neighbors which even some of its own intellectuals have called Naziesque, spies on us and kills our Sailors (Remember the Liberty) i.e., Israel.
None of the three want to talk about stopping the wars and promoting policies which are wholesome and beneficial for the Republic as a whole.
No, anyone who buys into the false Hegelian Dialectic of the Left/Right false paradigm can be named rightly for what they are, and P.T. Barnum knew their ancestors, S-U-C-K-E-R-S.

It’s both funny and sad that people think Lincoln was a good guy and a good President. Most people wouldn’t think of Julius Caesar as a good guy. They would consider Caesar a tyrant… just as most people during his time thought Lincoln was a tyrant.
Why would a President responsible for the death of 600,000+ Americans be considered a good guy? He destroyed the federal system of government and created the present centralized form of government that we toil under today. He threw out the Declaration of Independence (which was a secession document) and he wanted to deport black people through “colonization”.
I’m not surprised that Clinton would want to date Abe. Both believe in the iron fist of the central state. Marx would love Clinton… and Marx DID think Abe was a great guy (Marx sent Lincoln several letters).
p.s., the “civil war” had virtually nothing to do with slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation was a “war measure” (Lincoln’s words) intended to isolate the South from European sympathizers (England, France, etc…). The real purposes behind the war were the two most common ones throughout history– Money/Economics and taxes.

Why hasn’t the country been introduced to his family other than his angry wife? Too many unknowns w/ this guy and alot of questionable friends. Obama is a way too far liberal (currently ranked the number 1 most liberal Senator) with too many questionable associations with folks that hate America and there are just too many unknowns about Obama. Hillary is a moderate democrat who has been vetted. Hillary can take pressure much better than Obama and she has a quick mind (Obama stutters and stammers like Bush). With the load of issues facing America, Obama the unproven rookie, would be a disastrous president. Hillary or John needs to become the next president. Anyone but Obama.

As vile and amoral as the Clintons are, one has to give them credit for never hesitating to play cutthroat politics, the only question that didn’t get asked was “How much did you pay Jeremiah Wright to stab Obama in the back like that?!?”
Obama WILL be the nominee, but the Clintons will do little if anything to help him because they would rather see McCain get in the White House for maybe 4 years and then let General Hillary dodge some more sniper fire and run again in 2012.

Joe has hit the nail on the head at 7:13.
Now, on to more weighty items: yes, Lincoln was a railroad laywer – one of the very best, represented Whigs, of course who else ran the railroads in those days, however, as we learned he was deeply thoughtful, incredibly capable of expressing complex concepts in the spoken and written word (not just the polemics that pass for important moments in today’s political process) (have you ever read the TWO-HOUR speech he gave in New York that clearly outlined what he believed about the Union, slavery, and the role of government, no modern politico’s special discussions of issues is even in the same ballpark for providing understanding of the candidate), he did consider many pragmatic possibilities to end the war (some that would not pass muster by today’s sensibilities), but please understand his primary stated concern (not to the exclusion of others, such as slavery) was at that immediate time to SAVE THE UNION; if that were not done, all else could not be. Nothing else came close.
… and to whoever it was that said that the Civil War was about economics and taxes; well, duh – continued human existence (even in anarchy) requires some form of economics, and a government like any other large-scale entity needs to have income to operate; the rub is in doing it fairly, openly, and preserving the rights of the governed. Also, just because we chrome-domes who analyze such things from the high perspective of 145 years after-the-fact may “clearly” see the reasons and causes of the Civil War, does not necessarily mean that the folks of the time saw it that way.

Are most of you on here serious??? Hillary has time and time again been deceitful, from her outright lie about Bosnia, to her more recent comments that conveniently leave out her husband’s ( President Bill Clinton) involvement with authorizing a defense contractor to be bought by a foreign country, and one that isn’t even an Ally. Barack is also a bad choice because he lacks substance. Anyone can stand up in front of a crowd and shout out lines like ” I want to change the world” or ” Do you want change? Well so do I” The problems lies in the “How” not the “What”. Sure the answer is to raise taxes. Forget that the majority of Americans would prefer that the government stay out of our paycheck’s, no Barrack’s answer is we need more of your money that you work for. Think about it, we ourselves could resolve the issue of retirement and health care without this government. Get rid of Income tax, go to a consumption tax, and the savings that we incur, would give all of us the ability to afford our own health care. On top of that it would promote competition in the health care industry and we could still support the assistance to those in poverty that need the government help. Now Mr Obama, thats an example of change opposed to your rhetoric. Finally, MR McCain, pick a side already. You cannot be both Republican and Democrat, most would call that “Independent” and that word is one of the only words that makes both party’s shiver and run for the hills. McCain would be good for our National Defense because I believe he has the military mindset and understanding needed for that, but I don’t believe he would good for us domestically with the economy.
All three of them need to realize that they could easily gain votes by promising to release some of the oil reserves to the market, this would effect supply and force the oil companies to lower prices.

If the Texas women were born and raised into a particular lifestyle, who’s to say whether they’re right or our society is right?
If they beleive they’re right, they’re not going to stop and say, “wait, this is wrong,” just like someone in our society who is in an ordinary monogamous relationship wouldn’t stop and say, “wait, this is wrong.”
Multiple marriages have been going on for thousands of years in hundreds of cultures, including the U.S., and it was only in the past 100 years or so that they were declared “wrong” by our modern society.
The same with underage marriages, up until about 100 years ago it was very common for people to marry at 13 and above, many very famous historical figures did so, and also to marry family members. Many people born into royalty around the world still marry within their own family today.

“Lincoln, if alive today, would be a moderate democrat.”
What? Democrats today would crucify Lincoln for the civil war and for not giving Fort Sumter to the South.
I mean, they crucify Bush for his war of choice in Iraq, and Lincoln CHOSE the civil war. Lincoln chose to fortify Fort Sumter, chose to enact the blockade on the South, chose to raise the Army of the Potomac and invade the south with it. I’m glad Lincoln did it, and he won, but he paid an enormous cost to do it and he was reviled in his day. The only reason Lincoln is thought of as great is because he won the war and the only reason Bush is so reviled is because he has not.

Posted by: ds | May 1, 2008, 5:41 am 5:41 am
“Lincoln a progressive”
Lincoln wasn’t a progressive, he was a Neocon. He was informed in all of his decisions by his relationship with God. He flat out suspended Habeas Corpus, personally signed hundreds of death warrants for Confederate spies, and union deserters alike, he invaded the South in a war of choice. You talk about Abu Ghraib, but Lincoln burned Atlanta to the ground and completely razed the entire southern economy.
Really, the only difference between Lincoln and Bush is that Bush’s war is a lot less bloodier, but Lincoln won his, and, despite the enormous cost, we judge Lincoln’s decision to be worth it because slavery WAS that bad.
Sorry Democrats, but Lincoln is ever so firmly a Republican, and he is one of ours, a god-fearing, conservative Republican who was guided by his faith to do something terrible in the short term for a greater good.
If any Republican alive today is like Lincoln, it is in fact George Bush.

Lincoln was a Republican as much as Democrats wish otherwise. It is ironic that both Democrats running for President point to Republicans (and not other Democrats) as their heroes. For example, Obama chose Reagan and now Hillary picks Lincoln.
Wake up America, the democrat party was built on bigotry, slavery, elitism, and isolationism. Want examples of what is left over? Just take a look at Pastor Jerimiah Wright and Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia …

Now you can bakrupt the country with socialised medicine more hospitals can close, and doctors can quit due to higher malpractice. Hope you like getting your medical needs in an alley. I firmly believe that Senator Hillary Clinton is running to become President because she wants to try to make American’s lives better. I have always considered her to be a selfless, dedicated public servant. Her conversation with her husband about whether or not she should run for President only cements my beliefs as accurate. The Presidency of the United States is way too important a job to trust to a man who only spouts empty political slogans over and over again at political rallies. Americans need optimism combined with realism. Hillary has that nailed!

How is that good for the country? The white collared worker already pays an inappropriate percentage of income taxes, now BO wants to take more?
Gotta love the Democrat party. In the recent past, they give us Carter, worst president in how many generations? Then Kennedy, Hart, Dukakis, slick Willy, Gore, Kerry and now these two? The party cannot get out of its own way.
Bravo.
Vote Democrat. It’s easier than thinking.

One thing that this unaffiliated North Carolina voter knows for sure is that aside from myself there are two other unaffiliated voters who will join me in voting for Hillary on Tuesday. Obama’s supporters are as foul as the “Reverend” Wright. This isn’t even funny. Void of common sense and full of name-calling, simple minded fury. Obama’s greatest sin in the guilt by association game is associating with the lunatic fringe that is fueling his campaign. These folks are insufferable.

Obama keeps looking down on Americans believing that we are fools. Nobody buys the staged fallout charade with Rev Wright. Even if it was true, we can not a have a President that takes 20 years to realize that what he defended was wrong.

What is the matter with you people?Obama,Clinton And macinsane are all members of the CFR. Do you really think any of these people are going to help? They are going to do just what they are told. Do uourself and this nation a favor and vote Dr. Ron Paul.

Typical puff piece on a Liberal Democrat. They can’t get elected by saying what (or who) they’d REALLY do in office.
Which is fine. Heavy thinking and actually doing what’s best for making America great and powerful is best left to Conservatives.

Hillary Clinton is a pathological liar and a bi-polar megalomaniac, and Bill is just her whipped cur. She said “Lincoln” to make herself seem wise and unsuperficial, but the real reason is that she’s the living reincarnation of the insane Mary Todd.
I’d feel sorry for people too dumb to see it– if they couldn’t vote.

Everything with Hillary is contrived. Abe Lincoln… an attempt to capitalize on the fact that people associate “Lincoln” with Obama. And wow.. how out of touch to not know what Red Bull is?!?! They aren’t JUST a drink company, they sponsor tons of athletic teams and events. Guess the machine failed to prep her properly for that one.

Bill O’Reilly was nice to Hillary Clinton because he wants her to win the democratic nomination, she’s beatable. He’s republican, he doesn’t dislike McCain.

“Why do people persistantly say “Abraham Lincoln was a great man?(SHERR).
He disregarded the constitution by disallowing SC to secede,he also stopped habeas corpus and he didn’t give a rats rear end to the blacks either – he freed them in the hopes that it would cause problems in the south.
He was a tyrant!”
He may have been a tyrant, but at least he could spell, use correct grammer, correct sentence structure, and correct punctuation. Question of the day:
Who won the Civil War, the U.S. or the traitors (remember the oath every miliary officer takes, an officer like the traitor Robert E. Lee), the slaveholders, and the bigots?

Clinton wants to date a man who has been dead for 145 years. She couldn’t even pick one who’s alive.

What does Bill Clinton’s sex life have to do with nominating Hillary? FOCUS on the ISSUES people…not the “old politics of bashing”.
Posted by: ssmolly | May 2, 2008, 6:07 am 6:07 am
“I could no sooner disown Reverend Wright than I could disown my own white Grandmother.” Unless, of course I need to in order to get the nomination.
Michelle O. better watch out…she may be next…or the American people.

If the ineffective DNC denies Hillary CLinton the candidacy for November she shoudl run as an Independant. The DNC only voices concern over the youth and black voters. Well, the female vote is a huge block that got previous Democratic candidates elected to the white house. If the DNC disenfranchises the female voter, they will fully support Hillary as an Independant. Obama cannot win. Hillary is so obviously the strongest and most qualified and most capable to win in November and to unite across party lines to get GOOD things done for this country. Obama’s youth and black voters have nt even been able to get him to close the deal in just the primaries. They will not get Obama into the white house. Obama is divisive and the race issue he has not transcended. Do not fear black riots and support another losing Democratic candidate. You will lose female voters and damage the party for a long long time. Seriously, Hillary should run as an Independant if the DNC turns their back on her and common sense.

Mission Accomplished!! Parties and issues, stupid questions, all create separation and division. These candidates are all going to bring us….STATUS QUO!! Ron Paul, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich would breathe fresh air into a failed system. Give one of them a chance. The others are being shoved down our necks…who needs ‘em? I don’t drink Red Bull either. What piffle!!

Damn. Hillary is out of touch.
Also, what’s up with her inability to chose between Beer and Wine? Probably she really likes wine, but is afraid of contradicting her new beer swilling, gun shooting, working class, (oops “Rich people, god bless us.”) type persona.

Can we have some real news, please?
Posted by: Jessica | May 2, 2008, 12:19 pm 12:19 pm
Did you catch Hillary saying “God bless us rich people” in her O’Reilly interview? What an elitist she is.
Posted by: Javalation | May 2, 2008, 12:55 pm 12:55 pm
I had never heard of Red Bull until someone gave me a sample last summer. I’m not an elitist and out of touch with reality. When I shop, I only shop for what I need and don’t pay much attention to the other products on the shelf. Actually, 3 other people who I work with received samples and they had never heard of it. Also, one of them tried it and said it was awful. I decided not to try it. So Hillary is not an elitist she was asked about a product that has a narrow following.
Posted by: Sue | May 2, 2008, 4:59 pm 4:59 pm
Let me follow your logic Sue, you are not an elitist, you never heard of Red Bull, QED Hillary is not an elitist.
So it follows:
I’m 58, I’m not an elitist, I’ve heard of Red Bull, ergo, Hillary is an elitist.
If also follows:
This is really stupid. Hillary is an elitist, a liar, an enabler; a self-centered, vile-tempered, and pandering politician with unrealistic and constantly “adjusting” political views. William L. Garrison said it best.
The Red Bull stuff is just fun to ridicule.
I actually have something in common with Hillary. We’ve both been taken under sniper fire. Maybe I’m an elitist eh.

ABC news is right up there with Cosmopolitan Quiz’s in their incisive political reporting. How about something serious from the media on the Iraq war, or criminal activities of the Bush White house? I do not care if Hillary had plastic surgery. I’ll watch “Blind Date” on cheapo TV if I want this kind of ‘news’.
