Bill Clinton Tells North Carolina the Difference Between Hillary and Obama

ABC News’ Sarah Amos reports: Bill Clinton is getting tough on Sen. Barack Obama today, explaining the differences between his wife and her opponent as he visits with voters from the front porches of homes in Lenoir, Newton and other North Carolina communties.

As Clinton discussed home mortgages to a crowd of about 1,000 in Lenoir, he forcefully pointed out that Obama was against this, and many other policies Hillary supported.

"She said yes to this, her opponent said no. She said yes to solving the health care problem by leaving nobody behind. Her opponent said no. She said yes to short-term gas tax relief, and long-term energy relief, and he said the short-term was a pander. It is not a pander if you can’t feed your family and buy medecine for sick people in your family. She’s right," Clinton told a clapping crowd.

Clinton also continued to do what he has become best at — court the "country" vote.

"All the people that aren’t for Hillary, who think that, you know, we’re a little too connected to folks like you, they have made merciless, unmerciful fun of me about this," he said. "’Bill Clinton’s out there in the country, exiled to the country.’ I grew up in the country. I know where I am and I wanna be right here."

Clinton went on to challenge the crowd to keep up his current track record with rural communties.

"I checked when the Pennsylvania vote came in and Hillary got over 60 percent of the vote in every single county where I did a front porch rally, so don’t y’all let me down," he said.

While the settings are serene and the crowds relaxed at these outdoor events, the 80-plus degree weather today led to an occasional fainting.

While this is nothing new for a Bill Clinton rally, the former president injected a bit of levity into the day when one man fainted in Lenoir.

"Somebody faints at nearly every one of these things now. At my age, I didn’t think I could make anybody faint anymore," he joked.

Keep telling then, Bill. Hillary is the only candidate that cares about the middle class. As always, she’s advancing proposals to help families seeped in an economic crisis. Obama only offers opposition, and resistance to the change that will help middle and working class Americans.
GO HILLARY!!

I guess Obama is sitting home with his feet up.
Would be nice to know what BOTH candidates are doing.

I think Bill Clinton was one of the best President’s in the last thirty years and his wife will also be a good President and I believe she will do well on Tuesday. and Obama can say no to every idea Hillary has but he does not say just how he is going to change a thing hope won’t be enough this time around we are in to big of a jam.

Hillary lives in the moment and does whatever feels good.
That’s the difference.

One thing I have learned about Bill Clinton in the past few months is why the republicans disliked him so much in the 1990s – it’s the lies stupid.
One ubelievable lie after the other from the Clintons, it’s incredible. I am dumbfounded.

I think he has been such a great help to his wife and what lies would that be because he is smart and well liked and not a snob is why they could not stand them they are the only ones in the last fifty years that have done any thing for the working class.

Hillary has a track record of helping people….Her emphasis on health care and education since her early days in Arkansas has made a difference. Bill was the best president that we have had in 3 decades….Compare and contrast in the records and accopmplishments leaves Obama with nothing to say but to insist that he is a victim of racial discrimination and accuse both the Clintons of racism. Sorry if Bill had an affair, but that does not change the facts.
Obama and the MSM that have fueled his campaign will continue to cry “foul” whenever etiher Clinton talks….his strategy has always been to vilify and demean his opponents…
Perhaps he’s going to blame them for Wright when he loses on Tuesday.
At any rate wasn’t it Obama in IL that constantly voted to give a gas holiday and insisted on the thousands of dollars that went into signs at each pumt that said…”Brought to you by the IL State Legislature”
Hypocrite….panderer..or just a typical politician…Obama
I think that reducing gas cost by .18 a gallon for most citizens and .24 a gallon for trucker’s deisel is substantial….guess that Obama doesn’t get it…

@ Bishop: You’re right. George Bush senior first enacted NAFTA in 1988, and then signed it into law in early 1990′s. After some revision, Bill signed a version of NAFTA during his first term, but Hillary opposed it. She has always opposed NAFTA, but she couldn’t publicly come out against her husband, though.

When Hillary loses the nomination (and she will), all Obama supporters who now attack her supporters will suddenly be great friends with both Hillary and with Bill. Guess what, Hillary supporters will fall for it hook line and sinker. A massive advertising blitz will convince them that McCain is the devil.
Yes — Obama and Clinton supporters will be joined at the hip.

I support Obama. I know that everytime the Clinton’s get really worried, Bill goes into attack mode. The funny thing is, that I used to think he was the greatest. Gave money..have his picture on my wall, went to the inauguration. No more. Not this time. I am not going to be distracted by John McCain and his republican friends and I am not going to be distracted by Bill and the FOB’s. Not this time.

Here is another difference that Bill forgot to point out:
Hillary will say and do whatever it takes to win. That’s why her fans are so big on her. They think Hills will use her mastery of the dark arts of politics to their advantage all while screwing over the other side. This is the main reason her HardCore Shills are covering for her.
The Gas Tax matter is an example. Pakistan matter is just another example.
If we gotta good idea which cave bin laden is hiding in, at least 9 out 10 people would say blow the cave up. I imagine Hills would agree that the cave should be blasted. She’s willing to “totally, like Obliterate” Iran so you gotta think she’s willing to blast Bin Laden.
But ol Hills scolds everyone for wanting to blast bin laden.
It’s like she and bill live in the moment and say and do what ever feels good at that moment time. If it feels good to be a tough guy and promise to obliterate Iran, do it. If it feels good to scold a tough guy even when the tough guy is right, do that too.
If it feels good to propose the phony gas tax ploy, Do it and worry about the consequences later.

The price of oil should be determined by demand, if not, we should investigate the Oil company.
The gas tax relief is authentic and is good money for working class.
Working class at the time of pinch now would rather spend on food rather than senseless driving. So working class would not drive more because of the relief.
The rich couldn’t care less about the tax. For them, it is very petty money. It is irrelevant to their driving.
How can Hillary’s proposed tax relief drive up the oil price?
OBAMA’s accusation is phony fabricated by academic elites supporting him to exploit the folks. He can think of no solution for Americans so all he can do is to attack solutions.
He slacks, ducks, and is only good at lecturing behind a podium. He is not a person who can answer questions and problems. He is used to monologues running his own show of lies.

Simple minds will accept simple soultions,
THAT DOESN’T HELP THE MASSES.
So frustrating , reading simple minded folk think they understand the idiocy HRC is suggestioning, along with the fact that IT WOULD NOT PASS- even if it did, it would not pass until summer of 2009.

To Jobamatx,
I see nothing wrong with crying and laughing. Hillary is genuine in expressing his true feelings and do not hide under a mask acting.
Obama is skittish and whine making excuses for his own failure to be in touch with the real world. He made up the excuses of not getting support from the real working folks by telling people they clings on guns and church relieving their bitterness.
The only thing that makes me bitter is OBAMA the big liar. He is pathetic, hypothetical, and simply too wordy. He is just words which flips flops all the time to please. He is not real.

I am going to vote for Hillary…I so hope she wins.I took lots of pictures today but they were all fuzzy or just not good pictures. I got a sunburn and I have blisters on my toes from the walk to see Bill.I wanted to meet him and shake his hand and ask him a few questions butI didnt get to do it. I am still glad that I went, it sealed the deal for me.

The Clintons are real persons with feelings, guts, and lust as well.
Imagine, a president in his office, exhausted with a girl genuinely admire him. This is a temptation very difficult for a man.
Yes he did it and he felt sorry. Who wouldn’t in that kind of situation. It is just human. That is what I like Bill.
He is not a phony behind a podium preaching those made up lies and whining.
He is real with passion and hard work. He left the country a surplus, no wars. He kept his country away from real wars. He is great in office.
He can’t resists temptation so are we. He should be forgiven. He is still the greatest president in the recent history of America.
Bill is an all American; not a saint.

Any “blue” collar worker like myself who didn’t understand the CONTEXT of Obama using the word bitter, well in my blue collar opinion, it makes you unrounded and uncapable of UNDERSTANDING.
Your logic in clinging to “bitter” should be the same logic you cling to voting for a woman who claims “sniper fire.” Sniper fire fallacy kinda reminds me of Weapons of mass destruction fallacy- LOOK WHERE THAT GOT US.
I’ll tel you this- it cetainly got George Bush what he wanted, and only morons will let it get HRC what she wants, the presidency.

It seems that 75% of the mosques in the US are hotbeds of anti-Western extremism. No doubt the same applies to mosques in the UK and Europe too. The form of extremism is such that it would be extremely foolish to allow them to exist. Seems to me that they ought to be redesigned in the horizontal format as an artistic collection of disconnected brick and concrete.

To all those complaining about the lack of Obama articles: Perhaps Obama is not campaigning today or nothing he said was noteworthy. The other day I saw tons of Obama coverage and very little Clinton coverage. I think it really just depends on when the “on the trail” reporters decide to post an article on the blogs and has no relation to either candidate. News media peeps are all about ratings and tend to post anything controversial enough to get us to comment. Unique visits = increase in advertising prices ABC charges their advertisers.

Zero Emissions and cars that don’t run on gasoline at all. Until the oil companies and auto makers sued to have the law overturned and California legislature caved in, it was working. HRC is owned as much by the Saudi’s as Bush is. There will be no significant advancement of non-gasoline oriented energy for cars under her administration.

When Barack Obama needed Oprah Winfrey’s help, she delivered.
When he needed an infusion of campaign cash, she threw a star-studded fundraiser last summer at her California estate. When he needed a big-name draw in the early-primary states, she addressed massive crowds in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
And when Obama was looking for a late boost in a critical Super Tuesday state, Winfrey was once again there for him, giving up her Sunday afternoon for a Los Angeles rally.
But as Obama faces his most crucial primary day in months and struggles to move past the Rev. Jeremiah Wright controversy, Winfrey is far from the campaign trail.
She supported him because he is half black.
She has a commitment to Africa as well, it’s non-negotiable.
I have a commitment to expose racism and hate when I see it. Obama and his hateful wife need to be exposed.

Posted by: Observer | May 4, 2008, 5:42 pm 5:42 pm

According to a Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll released after her three-state campaign tour with Obama in December, Winfrey’s favorability rating dropped to 55 percent, down from 68 percent in September.
Obama is poison right about now.

Observer taking things out of context doesn’t work. I have not read his book but I know many of my friends are book club members and say what a wonderful book that was. Look what they tried to do to Jim Webb and his books. It didn’t work though, he was still elected.

Posted by: lily | May 4, 2008, 5:55 pm 5:55 pm

Lily – I, like many voters, am sick and tired of anything that reflects Obama’s true belief system being classified as “taken out of context”. It worked for a while with Revvy Wright. That bs isn’t going to work any longer. We’re getting to know the guy, and he’s not passing the smell test. MBA, six-figure earner here. Not the type of Dumbo that you Obamaniacs have painted as a picture of Clinton supporters. Hopefully Hillary….otherwise McCain.

Hillary consistently initiates ideas, plans, and proposals to help Americans to deal with difficult problems. Some of them may work, and some may not. Still, she religiously develops new strategies to help solve problems. Obama delivers speeches, opposes every idea Clinton proposes, and has the worst record in the US Senate for actually passing Bills.
Hillary’s baggage has been “rummaged through” for the twenty years she’s been in public life. Obama’s baggage has only come to light in the past couple of months. In those couple of months, it’s become increasingly clear that Obama’s baggage is significantly heavier than Hillary’s.
Hillary has excellent judgment, seeks smart council, effectively works to form bipartisan alliances, and has demonstrated stalwart grit. Obama’s judgment and choice of advisors is not only bad, but dangerous as evidenced by his relationships with Wright, Ayers, Hamas, and Rezko. As a puppet of the ultra-left wing, Obama’s ability to form bipartisan alliances will be problematic, at best. Finally, Obama’s lack of strength is clear-He was afraid to confront Jeremiah Wright, he wants to have friendly chats with America’s enemies without preconditions, and he’s even afraid to debate Hillary one-on-one.
The differences are abundantly clear.

Lily – What you’re saying isn’t entirely untrue. Without knowing anything about your friends who did read the book, I can’t comment on their perceptions. However, for YOU, who admits to not reading the book, to say they were taken out of context, is silly. How would you know? You didn’t read the book. Everything we’ve learned about him and his associations lead me to believe the words in this books are his true sentiments. I’ve heard enough out of both BO and “in the tank” CNN. I plan on reading it by recommendation of my friends. See if you feel the same way. Or are you just going to blindly go with these quotes on this blog.

Posted by: lily | May 4, 2008, 6:34 pm 6:34 pm

I would like to respond to the attacks on the Clintons’ values. Firstly, Hillary could have spent her summers in college lounging on the beach or out partying with her friends, but she chose instead to go South and register voters when it was not popular or even safe to do so (Remember the film “Mississippi Burning” was about three young civil wrights workers who came South to register voters and got shot in cold blood for their trouble.)
When she was First Lady, she could have sat on her behind, poured tea, planned parties, bought designer duds, baked cookies and played the dutiful, obedient little wife like so many before and since. Instead, she chose to take a more professional role — bucking tradition. She endured a lot of abuse from the media, from the right wing; it was easy to vilify someone who dared to push forward. Now, we actually have a woman candidate for president that has a better than even chance to win the presidency.
All we have to do now is convince the superdelegates to vote what’s best for the country and quit worrying about losing the black voting block. They certainly haven’t given much thought, or respect, for the women’s voting block. The Obamaniacal media has given Obama such a free ride until, at this late house, we now finally have seen some of his flaws and political vulnerabilities ONLY AFTER half the primary season is over. Judgmentis not one speech; it is a lifetime of decisions. Obama’s relationships with Rezko, Wright, Ayers, etc., must be seen in the broader context. Birds of a feather flock together, as my grandma would say.
There are many people who are experiencing “buyer’s remorse” that, unfortunately, can’t take their vote back. They are depending on the superdelegates to have the good sense to do it for them.

pghvoter do not base your judgement on anything that you don’t know first hand. That’s just being naive. And I am not basing my judgement on my friend’s opinions. I was saying you can’t take things out of context to get the true meaning.

I am not screaming “out of context”. I am saying read it for yourself and stop listening to others here. Maybe we should takes quotes out of Hillary’s book. I’m sure we can find something there. Give me a break.

Lily – Haven’t your friends pointed out all of the gross indecencies in Hillary’s books? Hopefully they can fill you in, like they filled you in on the inspiration they received from Barck’s hate-volumes. Give them a call, and tell me what kind of rebuttal they give you. I’ll wait.

Posted by: PGHPAVOTER | May 4, 2008, 7:07 pm 7:07 pm

phgpavoter, to my knowledge they haven’t read Hillary’s book and that wasn’t the point I was trying to make. I was saying that you can take anything out or context but that doesn’t mean you should believe it. Read his book before you call it the hate volumes, because that means you are listening to others instead of relying on yourself. You are being a follower.

I am not defending his book viciously st all. I didn’t read it. You didn’t read the book either and that is my point. Read it and form you own opinion. I will read it and form mine. I value my friends opinions more than I do the blogs here. You shouldn’t believe these blogs either.

Duck the sniper fire, Hillary. Offer Guamanians voting rights and war reparations. Give us all our $30 in gas tax relief. You are so awesome at saying ANYTHING to get into that Oval Office, aren’t you? You have become a pathetic person, and dragged down whatever good memories of Bill we had. Take your circus and leave town, please.

Posted by: Bill in NC | May 4, 2008, 7:37 pm 7:37 pm

BKMC, where is the Moral Majority and Contract With America when we need them? Let’s bring them back, and elect Hillary, so that she and Bill can fight them again–and beat them. Bill was a very successful President in spite of them. It’s good to know, however, that you recognize that it takes a Senate and House to support successful legislation, except in Obama’s case. With him, everyone will bow to his will, work together, and there will be hope, change, and unity. And the world will be right again….there I go, dreaming again!

Emily we are not cult members, you are so insulting. I could say the same about Hillary supporters being cult members. We just don’t want more Bush, Clinton years.

One thing the Republican party is not counting on: We were Democrats before the Clinton/Obama campaign – and we will be Democrats after the Clinton/Obama campaigns! WE WILL STICK TOGETHER!!! Enough of this Conservative Republican, fiscal responsibility crap! I am a liberal and proud of it. If you don’t know the meaning of “liberal”, JFK best describes it. Go Democrats!!!!!!!

I suggest that everyone try to write fairly on their candidates and informative to others why your candidate is worth the attention to the other side who might have missed it. Going through all the postings, I think most of the people are able to do that except DCVoter. I don’t know exactly what she is wasting our time for by saying the other side (to her) had no noteworthy news. I hope people like DCVoter would refrain themselves from posting if they don’t have anything noteworthy to write. We will all appreciate it. Thanks.

Bill and Hillary Clinton , simply put , two fountains of BS , especially Hillary Clinton the Bosnia war hero .Many many of us are really struggling and are worried now about our future , now is not the time for the establishment candidate Hillary Clinton who is for sale to the corporations , lobbyists and special interest and is the Queen of ear marks and pork barrel spending in Washington, do you think if elected all of the sudden she is actually going to put the people first ? Seriously you had better think again ! And it sure isn’t the time for McCain who will continue to drive this country and the people into the ground with a continuation of the insane Bush Republican policies of the last eight years . Change the course ! OBAMA 08 !

Elite ? Did you see Hillary at the gas station photo op she set up ? Clinton did not know how to operate a gas pump for cryin out loud , that is how out of touch she is with the real lives of the real American people . She rides in Limo’s and others do all of that FOR HER , that is the life she knows and has known for many years now she has no clue as to your life or mine unless you are one of the wealthy elite !

I think it is unwise for any of us including Obama to consider the opinions of the very same economists that advise the Bush administration, Wall Street, and Congress on economic matters given how flawed their assessments and advice have been for the past 7 years. Consumer confidence levels are very near the lowest in 22 years now and many independent economists who work for nonprofit nonpartisan agencies like Taxpayers for Common Sense now argue that we are in fact in a recession and that previous definitions of recessions are no longer valid. The richest and most successful man in the world, Warren Buffett, fully supports Clinton’s plans and that is good enough for me. She is right to dismiss their assessment.

Posted by: DCVoter | May 4, 2008, 8:32 pm 8:32 pm

Perhaps many of you including the media are misreading Clinton’s statement on Iran. She said “… we would be able to obliterate Iran.” She did not say she would nuke them, she stated we are capable of it which is a fact. She has always stated she would use military force as a last resort and diplomacy comes first. But when you have a nation calling for the annihilation of Isreal (genocide of Jewish people), she is correct to take a hardline. If you notice the impact was positive as Iran then immediately stated they have no intention of invading or bombing any other country after her statement. She will be a strong CIC because she knows a strong military is required to restore and keep the peace.

DCVoter – Thanks for the Rasmussen poll, hadn’t seen that one. I don’t put much stock in any single poll, there are too many variables that can skew the results, especially in this primary. Though I’ve found that if you have several polls(by reputable pollsters), taken during the same time frame, you can get a good idea of trends/movement.
Emily’s percentages seemed off to me, I hope she posts which poll she got them from, I’d really like to see it.

Posted by: bailey | May 4, 2008, 9:16 pm 9:16 pm

bailey – there are a few good sources for poling trends but the best one I have found is pollster.com because they chart the aggregates and are non-partisan. Unfortunately, there are pollsters like Zogby that have endorsed Obama and their results tend to be skewed. The aggregate trends are fairly good indicators. However, as you well know, this race is so volatile, the only results that are truly accurate are the voting results. I follow the numbers closely and have my own analysis ongoing since January 2007.

TedDaddy,
I’ve enjoyed your posts on this site today, something must have been lost in translation, I’m an ardent supporter of Senator Obama. Staniam thinks I’m a paid blogger and wants me to go away because I like facts and reality.
Didn’t watch CNN today, a 10k credit for a new hybred? I’ve got to see that interview, sounds like panderamamania to the nth degree.

Bill Clinton does not need to do this. His is rich as Obama was so anxious to show. This is something an elitist like Obama or his hate spewing wife can never do. Go meet the real people of America.

18c a gallon is like 5%. AAA estimates most of us could increase gas efficiency by 10% if we properly inflate our tires and change our airfilters. Why doesn’t Hillary suggest that instead? It may actually make a difference instead of just waisting time and resources on a gas tax holiday that won’t work.

HRC is saying nothing about restoring our rights under the Constitution. The Indiana election has been stolen by Limbaugh. 38% of the voters say they are voting for McCain in the fall. Vote for Obama and save the Constitution from McCain’s CIA pals.

Posted by: bruce becker | May 5, 2008, 6:18 am 6:18 am

Simple Example:
Hillary knows how to help the Working Class.
Ask any truck-driver, transportation operator, airliner, or even any working class person that commutes (30+ miles to work one way because they can’t afford a house in the city) whether they approve the gas-tax suspension and I can assure you they will say YES!!
Also, Hillary is the only candidate that has the GUTS to stand up and FIGHT for UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE!! The U.S. is the only wealthy, industrialized nation in the WORLD that doesn’t have a Universal Healthcare Program – talk about snubbing the working class!!
What does Obama have to offer? More skeletons coming out of his closet? Pastor Wright’s deepest sentiments coming out of him?

Posted by: Tyrone | May 5, 2008, 6:54 am 6:54 am

At least we know where Clinton and McCain stand on the issues.
With Obama, it changes from primary to primary, month to month, week to week, even day to day.
What we do know about Obama is that he will raise your taxes, and he will raise them a lot.
Not only will Obama refuse to offer temporary tax relief on the price of a tank of gas, Obama will institute programs that permanently raise taxes.
And, the tax increases will not just be on the wealthy. Obama tax increases will result in significant portions of your paycheck going to higher and higher taxes.
America was offered the same economic plan with Mondale, Dukakis, and Kerry.
The result was rejection in the national election.
The major issue right now is the economy.
And, on the economy, Obama doesn’t have a clue.

DCVoter and Mike in SF: Despite Mike’s critique, DCVoter,I find your posts the most enlightening and the clearest analysis of the issues.  Mike, have you read all  of the DCVoter’s posts, or is it that you do not like truth and facts and the support of Hillary?

We should probably be used to the Obama waffle walk by now.
Barack Obama touts his resistance to the Iraq war in 2002 and points to the votes of McCain and Clinton while they were U.S. Senators.
Then, Obama consistently votes to fund the Iraq war as a U.S. Senator (the same as Hillary Clinton except for one vote when he sided with John McCain).
As an Illinois state senator, Obama promoted gas tax relief.
As a presidential candidate, Obama reverses his position and won’t lower your taxes.
Yes today, no tomorrow.
Taxes today, more taxes tomorrow.

The difference between Hillary Clinton
and Barack Obama is that every other
word out of Obama’s mouth isn’t a Lie!

Posted by: reaganfan | May 5, 2008, 8:24 am 8:24 am

reaganfan – you are absolutely wrong in saying that “every other word out of Obama’s mouth isn’t a Lie!”
You are wrong because not just every “other word” isn’t a Lie, it is because EVERY SINGLE word is a lie.

I can also tell the difference between the two: male/female, black/white, thin/fat, trim/floppy, above/below, etc.
But the similarity is: Both unelectable.
People, it’s a shame that in our great Democractic Party, we end up with these 2 losers.

Hillary just can’t win this on her own. She needs Bubba and his southern drawl down in NC to win those rural votes. Still riding Bill’s coattails.

News reports today show the number of FL hispanic democrats exceed hispanic republicans giving dems the possibility of winning FL in the GE. Given the demographics of the state most likely to support Clinton as also shown by the polls, the DNC Bylaws committee must look hard at their decision regarding the seating of FL delegates. I know they met on May 31 to hear arguments and that only 50% of the committee are Clinton supporters. Does anyone else find it strange we have not heard the decision? The DNC continues to show its cowardice and incompetence to run elections. Hopefully, the centrist members of the DNC will override the stupid decisions of its leadership to disenfranchise FL voters when the FL state dem party did nothing wrong.

Posted by: DCVoter | May 5, 2008, 10:15 am 10:15 am

It’s depressing that the Clintons are brainwashing everyone with their gas tax “relief” plan. Hillary keeps insisting that it will work, but gives absolutely no clear response on implementation. Anyone who has taken Economics 101 or understands the effect of taxes on supply and demand knows that the tax elimination will not bring relief. If it does, by some miracle, occur, the maximum savings would be around $30- at the cost of thousands of unemployed road workers, due to decreased tax revenue. Bill knows it’s pandering, and it makes me sick that he just blatantly lies to the constituency.
And as for Florida and Michigan- it’s DNC primary rules. Read up on it and stop whining. The state legislatures broke the rules, so like it or not, they’ve been denied delegates. Plus, in typical primary seasons, like the 2004 primary, later states don’t have a say anyway. This is a primary, not a general election. There’s a huge difference. Not everyone gets a say in the primary (again, see 2004)- so throwing around the word “disenfranchise” like the DNC is discriminating against Florida and Michigan is inaccurate and disrespectful to voters who actually have been disenfranchised historically.

Amazing performance by Obama and his supporters.
They whine and complain about Bill Clinton campaigning for Hillary.
Then, when Barack Obama needs to divert attention from his “old uncle” and “spiritual advisor”, Jeremiah Wright, who appears with him?
Why, Michelle (I am proud for the first time) Obama!
Surprise, surprise!!!

Many people think Bill Clinton was a great president, so was average at best. He was horrible to the miliary, cutting yearly pay increases (I am a Retired Marine, so I know). Plus the country has never faced anything that required the president (Bill Clinton term in office) to act in a manner that directly affect us here in America. And do forget about selling arms to Iran behind close doors. I would have to say Reagan made the country STRONG and it has been going down hill ever since. Now Hilliary is focusing on old people set in there ways to win an election that clearly favors the young people of today. They want change and will not settle for the same old crap. Last note: Universal Health is a GREAT IDEA but will not work just as the Social Security fund hasn’t. It is too costly to the American people UNLESS you cut funding for WELFARE/MEDICAID & MEDICARE which is the loophole she fails to mention which will cost the American Working people billions MONTHLY.

No, Michigan,
Your conclusions are flawed in just about every respect.
Initially, you conveniently omit that Barack Obama was an ardent proponent of the elimination of gas tax as an Illinois state senator. As I understand, he supported such initiatives three times in votes.
Now, in an effort to suggest that his plans are more than carbon copies, with a Wright flavor, of Senator Clinton’s policies, Obama contradicts his own previous positions.
As for loss of revenue for road construction and maintenance, you are leaving out the fact that Senator Clinton’s plan calls for the oil companies to pay for any loss of tax revenue out of their record profits. Of course, Barack Obama really has no plan but to tax.
And, if you commute on a daily basis or rely on huge daily purchases of fuel (such as independent truckers), the savings recognized would be substantially more than $30. You must be using some form of Obama/Rezko math.
As for Florida and Michigan delegates, you need to watch the news just a bit more. Democratic leaders and the DNC have recently stated numerous times that the Florida and Michigan delegates will be seated. The only question is which delegates and how the seating will take place.
The only disrespect taking place in this process is people who twist and distort the facts about primaries and elections to serve their own preferences.
And, I am not voting for either one.

Posted by: Jayhawk | May 5, 2008, 11:33 am 11:33 am

Jbarron:
I have a question:
If national, or universal, health care does not work, then why is the United States the only industrialized country that does not have it?
Also, I would comment about Iran/Contra which took place under the Reagan administration (remember the drugs for guns?), but this blog doesn’t have enough capacity to hold the information.

That’s three right there and there are many others on Hillary’s side!
