Closing Arguments: Should Obama Pick Clinton For VP?

It’s official – Barack Obama will be the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. He clinched the nomination a few hours ago, passing the magic number of 2,118 delegates.

But he and Hillary Clinton literally fought it out to the bitter end, splitting today’s primaries in South Dakota and Montana.  And in her speech tonight, Clinton stopped short of conceding defeat.

Which brings us to tonight’s Closing Argument: do you think Obama should make Clinton his Vice Presidential candidate?

User Comments

No. Move forward, not backward. She’s blamed everyone but herself and her strategy for losing. People who say they’ll vote for McCain should really think about it: Do you want war with Iran? A broken healthcare system? An end to safe, legal abortion? If you answered yes, McCain’s your candidate.

No! Let Obama pick Jeremiah Wright as his vice presidential running mate.
Wright has already said that he wants the job.
Hillary 2012!!!

Posted by: USmarine0331 | June 3, 2008, 11:07 pm 11:07 pm

Go ahead and promise her VP, and then the transition for her being presidential nominee will be more smooth, as she’ll end up being the nominee when more freaks come out of Obama’s closet, the Michelle bashing whites video comes out and Barack’s poll numbers drop to the low 30s.
Hope Obama enjoys this while it lasts.

Posted by: Jo | June 3, 2008, 11:09 pm 11:09 pm

No, but she should have a significant post in his cabinet.

Posted by: Paige | June 3, 2008, 11:09 pm 11:09 pm

You have to ask 2 questions to answer does she belong on the ticket.
Does having Clinton on the ticket help more than it hurts and can Obama get the same help from some other candidate.
To the first I believe she brings far more baggage and negatives than positives. She may have won the socially conservative working class whites in the primaries but I question whether ANY dem candidate will get them in the General Election. I don’t even want to think about the Gorgon’s knot of the CLintons finances coming out not to mention the massive turnout of the GOP base that would turn out to vote AGAINST Clinton and might just stay home if she isn’t on the ticket.
There are plenty of other Dem candidates who could help out on the ticket without undermining the platform of change.

Posted by: korey | June 3, 2008, 11:12 pm 11:12 pm

No, I am not in favor of it. Even in her speech, she continued to lie about the popular vote and act like she was holding the party hostage.
I live in rural America and I think that any value she might have with dems will be lost with Indies and repubs.
Too much hard feelings against her among those groups.
I personally cannot forgive her for the bank of American flags behind her while she claimed she was ready to lead, McCain was ready, but Barack was not.
That is personal for me. NO democrat does that to another democrat.
I will vote Obama. We will accept his nominee, but I don’t believe she will be it. She is not what we need.
Just my humble opinion.

Are you ready for this nation to give up much of its sovereinty? Are you ready for a huge global tax (for global warming that would wipe out the US economy? Are you ready to send even more money to Africa than we already do because it’s Obama’s pet project? Are you ready for the government to become bigger than it has ever been in our lifetime? Are you ready to ask the rest of the world what we’re allowed to drive, eat, and set our thermostats on? Are you ready for a total gun ban? Are you ready for America to become a nation that you don’t even recognize?
Then vote Obama!

“No! Let Obama pick Jeremiah Wright as his vice presidential running mate. Wright has already said that he wants the job. Hillary 2012!!!” from USmarine0331… I agree 100%

What a CLASSLESS ACT Hillary Clinton is!! I wouldn’t pick her to be my VP if she were the last candidate on earth! Run as far away from her as you can Barack and pick someone you can count on who wants to see you succeed!

Posted by: J.L. | June 3, 2008, 11:15 pm 11:15 pm

I do not think Obama should pick up Clinton as vice-president, considering this circumstance in Clinton’s campaign and her supporters’ claim.
Hillary has showen her extrordinary and ternacious strength during campaign. But personally, she has not got enough benevolence and patience to support for president, who is beyond her power. I hope Obama is considering nominee of vice-president with Edward.
Two good men have make it US president this winter.

Posted by: Muqul | June 3, 2008, 11:17 pm 11:17 pm

J.L. – The classless act is Obama who was selected by media, party bosses, and other elitist….I hope McCain wins big.

Posted by: Disgust | June 3, 2008, 11:17 pm 11:17 pm

Absolutely not. I don’t think that he should even consider her. There are several very fine prospects who would add to the ticket. Hillary should never have done any race-baiting but since she and Bill chose a low-integrity strategy then she deserves what she got. She loses. But having said that I strongly believe that she would be invaluable in a high ranking position in the Senate.

Posted by: Aisha | June 3, 2008, 11:17 pm 11:17 pm

And if you really want to get down to cases………..
30 seconds after Obama picks Clinton as his VP he gets a call from his life insurance policy saying the policy is canceled and he’s uninsurable.

Posted by: korey | June 3, 2008, 11:20 pm 11:20 pm

Absolutely not; she is just too manipulative, divisive and vicious to trust.
I would willingly and with great pleasure vote for a woman for President or Vice President of this great country if she was qualified, but only if it is not Hillary Clinton. I have a long memory…
And because some others have suggested it recently, that would also include her daughter who will ultimately prove to be cast from the same mold as her Mother.
I honestly and sincerely hope that it doesn’t happen, but I have told close friends that if Hillary is on the ticket, forget about me from voting for Barack Obama, a man whom I consider to be a superior human being, a man this country desperately needs to lead us into a brighter future.

Posted by: George | June 3, 2008, 11:21 pm 11:21 pm

Yes, elitists picked Barack. Everybody knows that Iowa, Montana, Idaho…places like that are just Mecca for the elite crowd.
You want to use talking points and sound bites that are not true. You don’t know squat about the people that vote for Senator Obama.

Posted by: IL Obama Lover | June 3, 2008, 11:22 pm 11:22 pm

no, she should not be picked for nor run as vp. then obamba loses to mccain, his supporters will blame her if she is the vp candidate. she should let him lose on his own merits, and then she can run for president in 2012 and beat mccain.

Posted by: yoduhh | June 3, 2008, 11:22 pm 11:22 pm

NO……NO…….No…….
All she will do is ensure that he loses in November – she is not the only one that can help him in those states and all the negatives she brings to the table aren’t worth it. The taking care of “my 18 million voters” is BS – she is only out to take care of herself.
Obama can’t spend his time looking over his shoulder all the time trying to figure out what knife she is trying to put in his back this time.
Bill is a disaster just waiting to happen – Obama doesn’t need to have him anywhere around his white house.
No……No…….No……
Send her packing

No. No. No. She couldn’t even stop attacking him tonight.

Posted by: Steve | June 3, 2008, 11:24 pm 11:24 pm

Why would Obama want to weaken his Presidential position by A) picking his rival opponent as his running mate, and B) picking as his running mate the person (i.e. Clinton) who embarrassed him a month ago by suggesting the he, the delegate leader, should be the VP under HER (who was well behind Obama in delegate count). Obama would be a fool to pick his opponent Clinton as his running mate. He would be the laughing stock of politics. Not only that, but Obama can do much better than Clinton as his VP.

Posted by: Eric | June 3, 2008, 11:29 pm 11:29 pm

No, absolutely not. As has be stated on more than one of these blogs, that would be a total clash to the message of change. Change does not mean Obama/Clinton. He would be undermining himself. All these people who are trying to cram Hillary down his throat need to step back and let him have the same option they would have given her, had she been the nominee.

Posted by: Karen | June 3, 2008, 11:29 pm 11:29 pm

No.Hillary Clinton will be a disaster. Her personal inordinate ambition will undermine Mr. Obama candidacy. She is going to be a liability. She is too ambitious. Obama remember Ceasar. Please watch your back.God bless you as you are taking charge of the leadership of your country.

He won the nomination. It is his. He gets to choose. If he takes Hillary, I will support him. However, I urge him to not make this decision.

Posted by: IL Obama Lover | June 3, 2008, 11:35 pm 11:35 pm

Hillary Clinton’s campaign is $31 MILLION in debt. The only reason she’s staying in the race is so that SUCKERS LIKE YOU donate more to her campaign so that she can pay off her bills and bow out. Otherwise, she’s stuck with the bills herself. Clinton would rather let the bills go unpaid, thereby harming hundreds of companies who worked for her campaign. Failing that, she would rather thief her supporters into paying the debt on her failed campaign. The situation is quite disturbing.

Absolutely not.
She has done too much damage to the party and the country.

If Clinton is VP, how would Obama be able to govern with a daily reality show going on at Whitehouse?
No drama Obama!

Posted by: superclearvision | June 3, 2008, 11:49 pm 11:49 pm

Should a boy scout take a rattle snake to bed on his first camping trip? Definitely not.
What does this have to do with whether or not Obama should select Clinton as his VP?
Do you really think that Bill Clinton and his little Hillary would listen to anybody but themselves? Of course not. So, with Hillary as second in command, it would probably only be a matter of time before something unfortunate happens. Is America ready for something that would our country for decades to come? Definitely not.
Go home, Hillary. (Where ever that is to you.) We don’t want you and your cheating husband back in our White House. You lost. Go home and raise grandkids or something.
The party is over. For you anyway.

Posted by: Jennie Johnson | June 3, 2008, 11:59 pm 11:59 pm

Posted by: harryjhemphill | June 4, 2008, 12:08 am 12:08 am

No, for God sakes no.
Clinton I believe is very bitter and has been for some time, I believe her and Bill will be no good to Obama. Like someone else has said, she is millions in debt and I am sure that is the very reason why she is angry people voted for her but didn’t really support her candidacy where it really counted.

Posted by: LL | June 4, 2008, 12:08 am 12:08 am

OBAMA WOULD BE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE HER AS HIS VP. HILLARY’S A LOT SMARTER THAN OBAMA WHO HAS THIN RESUME ON THE PLATE. I DON’T THINK HE WILL WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION WITHOUT THE HILLARY SUPPORTERSS BY HIS SIDE. DON’T OVERESTIMATE HIS POSITION.
I DON’T THINK SHE WILL ACCEPT THE VP POSITION IF SHE GETS AN OFFER FROM OBAMA. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING IN HER MIND WHICH I THINK IS INTELLIGENTLY DECISIVE OF SOMETHING BIGGER THAN THAT.

Posted by: neil1785 | June 4, 2008, 12:09 am 12:09 am

Good Lord, no! No more white trash in the white house – in any form or fashion. The Clintons even now are trying to blackmail their way on to the ticket – by continuing to threaten to continue the battle.

Posted by: Steve Randle | June 4, 2008, 12:10 am 12:10 am

Nope! If he picks her, he’ll win. That’s really the ONLY way – America NEEDS her. In my opinion, he isn’t what he appears to be. At least with Hillary, we KNOW what we get and SHE is the one who can win against the Republicans – not him. So, if he picks her, he’ll be in office. I’d vote for Hillary against McCain, but not for Obama.

Posted by: C | June 4, 2008, 12:10 am 12:10 am

Yes, Barack should have Hillary as vice president. Devided they are good candidates in their own right, but together you have an unstoppable candidacy. Definetly a match for the republicans,

Posted by: JAMES MC CLOUD | June 4, 2008, 12:10 am 12:10 am

After watching the Clinton campaign for the last few months, I think she would make the ideal VP candidate…for John McCain. She already has a great deal of experience in attacking Obama.

Posted by: Josh | June 4, 2008, 12:10 am 12:10 am

Absolutely NO!!! We all need a LOOOOOONG vacation from her, and as I read somewhere else, Obama would seem like he’s caving in into her whims, which I believe would be a sign of weakness. There are many other qualified VP candiates. Again, NO to Hillary, ever!

Posted by: CDC | June 4, 2008, 12:10 am 12:10 am

I think Obama picking Clinton would only hurt his campaign. She has faught tooth and nail to be the democratic nominee and often joked that Obama should just bow out and become her VP. What an insult! Now once he got the nomination she’s practically forcing him into a corner by pretty much promising her voters to him if she is on the ballot for VP.
Personally, I think John Edwards should be the VP nomination on the ballot. He would bring in a lot of southern voters and would make up for several votes Obama lacked. Not to mention he would compliment Obama’s campaign in so many positive ways. Hilary has done nothing but run her mouth throughout the campaign and I doubt she could take the backseat during Obama’s presidency.

Posted by: tawanbrown | June 4, 2008, 12:11 am 12:11 am

Absolutely NOT. I voted for Obama to get rid of Hillary!! It would be the worst mistake of his life (no pun itended) The Clintons would eliminate him and then she would be President.
Or at the least he would have the VP from hell for 4 years. She would try to run his Presidency just like she is trying to grab his VP job now.

Posted by: BBQBob | June 4, 2008, 12:11 am 12:11 am

NO, NO, NO.
There are just too numerous reasons as to why he shouldn’t and all of them are justified. Basically, most of america (except or her 18 million voters) just want the clintons to go away.
She is not a leader and she surely lacks judgement and her honesty and trustworthness are pathetic. I as a woman now find her as no match for the presidency or vp spot.

Posted by: jules0123 | June 4, 2008, 12:11 am 12:11 am

I find it disappointing that so many Obama supporters post sexist comments about Hillary. Her policies and his are not that different. It seems that people are more ready for a non-white president than they are for a female president. I think the best way to unite the party is to include Hillary on the ticket. Obama may have won the delegates but she has won the states where Democrats usually win. He needs to think about that. His wins in places like South Carolina will not translate into Democratic Party wins in November.

Posted by: djny | June 4, 2008, 12:12 am 12:12 am

Obama should NOT select Clinton as VP. He and the country would be served with the Clintons in major support roles outside the white house. I think his presidency would be seriously compromised with the Clintons too much on the inside.

Posted by: RSL | June 4, 2008, 12:12 am 12:12 am

Why don’t Barack pick for his Vice Presidential nominee the biggest money supporter of his campaign……OPRAH WINFREY. Then as a thank you, give every dime she gave and more to the people who earn less than $50,000.00 for a family of four, while requiring those who earn more than $100,000.00 for a family of two pay an additional $99,000.00 dollars to families who earn less than $50,000.00 for a family of four.

Posted by: Harry | June 4, 2008, 12:12 am 12:12 am

YES! If Obama names Hillary as the VP nominee, then all the people who voted for her will stay voting for Obama. Whatever it takes, we must get the Republicans out of the White House! We cannot survive any more time with the madness that we currently have. Get the Democats in and end the war and start making us liked again by the rest of the world.

Posted by: Alice | June 4, 2008, 12:12 am 12:12 am

Absolutely not! Hillary has shown herself to be divisive, manipulative and completely disingenuous! I was a staunch Hillary Clinton fan prior to this campaign. After the Iowa Caucus, she began to show her true colors as an entitled, arrogant, self-engrandizing politician. I was greatly disappointed and moved to Team Obama.
If he chooses Hillary as VP, she will undermine his policies and will be a negative force to destroy his legacy as president. Hillary does not respect Barack although he has demonstrated great respect for her. She has divided this party and jeopardized our chances in November.

Posted by: AF | June 4, 2008, 12:12 am 12:12 am

Posted by: Roy | June 4, 2008, 12:12 am 12:12 am

I would emphatically say NO! Perhaps Mr. Obama should wonder what Hilary was eluding to when she stated that Robert Kennedy was assassinated in June. Then look at how many people mysteriously died that were connected to the Clintons. I believe I have made my point. You need John Edwards to win. He can bring in the south and he not a poor loser. He is very likable and knowledgeable. We also won’t have to worry about Bill having sex with the new pages in the VP’s office.

Posted by: Michele | June 4, 2008, 12:12 am 12:12 am

No I don’t trust her ! I do think he should appoint her to a key position in his administration. She can bring a lot of her supporters to help the Democrats win in November ! America truly needs a fresh approach.I’m confident saying this as a former Hillary supporter I really am confident tat Obama can take this country in the right direction that it needs to go . we have gone through a terrible time in the last year during Bush administration. I know personally it has been a disasterous time I looking for a good healing process for America

Posted by: ALSTON D GREEN | June 4, 2008, 12:12 am 12:12 am

No, I would much prefer to see John Edwards on the ticket. I really like some of the things Edwards spoke out about during his campaign, primarily issues of equality and poverty. Plus I like what I have observed of his thinking.

Posted by: Jim | June 4, 2008, 12:13 am 12:13 am

I absolutely think he should pick her, and am certain his support within the Democratic Party would be greatly enhanced. He may lose a few of the Republicans that have supported him fleetingly over the last few months, and some that do not even realize how sexist they are, but he would gain many others.

Posted by: neil1785 | June 4, 2008, 12:13 am 12:13 am

No – no – Hillary would NOT make a good Vice Presidential candidate! She has shown herself to be very vicious, back stabbing and greedy, not to mention very unprofessional. We have a candidate who can very likely involve Americans in becoming involved in their government and making much needed changes. May God bless all of us and make this happen!

Posted by: JudyK | June 4, 2008, 12:13 am 12:13 am

No. He should not choose Hillary as his VP candidate. He is the change candidate – and boy do we need some BIG changes around here. The thing is, the Clintons have had their time, you can never go back. It’s time for some fresh perspectives and new angles.

Posted by: IL Obama Lover | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

No, Hillary should not be VP. People voted against her because she is too political and untrustworthy. I don’t think she can bring within herself the fresh thoughts, fresh hopes, that wuold allow her to envision the hopes that Barack has, and she would therefore be unable to help him to accomplish him. She would be like an albatross on his neck, dragging him down into a mire of disillusionment and ruthlessness. Witness her extreme poor sportsmanship tonight.

Posted by: Mikke | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

No, but not for the reasons stated by so many others who seem to harbor such venom toward someone who has proven herself to be such a strong and talented politician. I’m disappointed that so many who seem to support Obama have failed to grasp his message of unity.
I say she should not be the VP, because she has been and can continue to be a tremendous senator – and would be able to do even more for the country under an Obama presidency. They will work together and be even more effective in two separate branches of our government than together in one.

Posted by: Matthew Burkholder | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

Obama needs Hillary. Hillary’s popularity has been growing. Obama needs think carefully. If he adds her to the ticket, he may be bullet proof, but if he doesn’t he is probably dead in the water.

Posted by: Geoff Avery-Foy | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

Absolutely not. I suggest that Bill Richardson would be a wonderful compliment with his vast foreign policy experience and previous cabinet position. He’s served at every level of government and run an entire state. Most of our presidents have been governors. This would balance the ticket from a federal and state perspective.

Posted by: Ellen | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

No – OMG Please NOOOOO!! If I had wanted Hilary in the White House I would have voted for her in the primaries. Obama should really go for the changes he has been campaigning about for months. Lots of other better choices!

Posted by: Cathy | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

Interesting comments – from what I’ve read here, it seems that Hillary is what Obama needs to win. Just what she’s been saying all along – SHE CAN WIN against the Republicans. Personally, I’d love to see OUR votes count and not the Super Delegates…. she’d be in if that were the case.

Posted by: Me | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

Sen. Obama should NOT pick Hillary for VP for these reasons: 1) Bill Clinton, (The past is the past), 2) Hillary’s baggage is really heavy, 3) very low favorability nationally, 4) perceived untrustworthiness, e.g., sniper fire, etc., and 6) Hillary doesn’t fit with the nation’s need for real change.

Posted by: David F. McBride | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

YES!!! Despite all of the media bias (admit it), she has withstood it all and the Republicans are no joke when it comes to going after an election (2000, 2004). Hillary needed Barack’s supporters and he definitely needs hers to win. If you all are serious about change and having a Democrat in the White House, this dream ticket is the way to go.

Posted by: Nancy | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

YES.. She deserves and has worked hard for the democratic party. I hope she fights on til the end. McCain would not stand a chance. If she is not on the ticket I and many others will not vote for Obama.

Posted by: Selena R in TX | June 4, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

Good heavens no; the Clintons are holding Obama hostage. He should not pick Hillary because 1) Bill (primed to undermine/upstage) looming in the background is worrisome; 2) Hillary is not going to want to serve another eight years as a “second banana” to Obama; by the time two terms are done, she will be 68; and 3) Barack should not have to have her forced down his throat.
The best thing that he could do for her would be to offer her a Supreme Court seat when one comes available.

Posted by: James | June 4, 2008, 12:15 am 12:15 am

Absolutely NO!
It would be a problem with Hillary as a VP and an even bigger one with Bill in the House. Obama can stand on his own without the clinton baggage.

Posted by: Nancy | June 4, 2008, 12:15 am 12:15 am

YES….It has been a battle like no other battles and it has brought so many people out to vote. Who else is there? Having both on the ticket, is a sure win against McCain. I would hate to see him choose someone other than Clinton and it cost the Democrats the win in November. Whether you like Clinton or not, you have to admire that she fought to the end showing she is no quitter and I believe she will support Obama whether or not she is on the ticket. Go ahead…Let’s make history. Our first black president and our first female v.p.

There are a lot of us female voters out there who want to see the first female president in our lifetime just as much as black voters want to see the first black president. If he were to pick a different female as a VP it would be a huge insult to us and her. She has worked her but off to get where she is, can he honestly say the same ? The Clintons will make great supporters of his election and presidency and we spurned female Hillary followers will not.

No. The liabilities are too great. The first is Bill who can not be controlled. The second is Hillary who, because of her need to control, would undermine Obama at every opportunity! The other liabilities are too many to list.

After watching the Clinton campaign for the last few months, I think she would make the ideal VP candidate…for John McCain. She already has a great deal of experience in attacking Obama.

Posted by: Josh | June 4, 2008, 12:15 am 12:15 am

He may have no choice. Hillary has spent weeks brainwashing her supporters to think that if SHE doesn’t get the nomination, it’s because the DNC cheated them, disenfranchised them, and even hijacked their votes. And a half-hearted effort on the part of Hillary to support Barack will not undo the damage she has done. Her supporters will either vote for McCain, nobody, or write her name in on the November ballots. Personally, I think giving Hillary the Attorney General position might be the best use of her talents and also be enough to garner her supporters votes without alienting any Obama supporters. Her tenacity and pitbull mentality are the characteristics an Attorney General needs, if used to enforce Barack’s political vision of course. And if Edward’s was expecting that job, he’d be much better off as the next Supreme Court Justice.

NO!
Clinton has demonstrated she is NOT a team player.
Clinton has demonstrated – throughout her campaign in a multitude of ways – that her judgment is atrocious and she doesn’t deserve to be in line for POTUS.
Clinton (contrary to her claims) has NOT been vetted – NOR has Bill – for their complex and suspicious financial and personal dealings since leaving the WH 7 years ago.
Clinton is THE most polarizing person for both conservative and Republicans AND can’t win over more than 50% of her own party.
Clinton is ungracious, uncouth and completely out-of-touch with the reality that is America today.
Clinton SHOULD get more foreign experience, though. I humbly suggest that she should be named as American Ambassador to Iraq where she can take charge of the disaster that she helped to create there PLUS get the opportunity to dodge REAL bullets from time to time.

The Nightmare Ticket! OBAMA already has a bullseye on his back for the very small number of nuts who feel we must never have a black president. HILARY as veep would paint another bullseye on his chest for the very minute number of her followers who feel she should be president at any cost.
I have been saying all along that the 1st female prez and the first black Commander-in-Chief will have higher than average chances of shortened terms; remember what happened to the first Catholic.
Putting her on the ticket would simply create a third category of kooks.

Clinton is convinced that she is the best candidate to beat McCaine. How can she possibly serve Obama and the Country in the second position? In addition, she and Bill Clinton come as a package. The oval office isin’t big enough for the three of them.He needs VP he can trust.

The only way Barack Obama will get my vote is if Hillary is on the ticket. I cannot believe this Country. First the courts pick an 8 year President that has almost destroyed our Country and now we pick someone that is wet behind the ears to hold the highest office in our Country. I have nothing against Barack Obama but no one can convince me he will right the wrongs in this Country unless he has a strong VP – namely Hillary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Snowman | June 4, 2008, 12:16 am 12:16 am

Definitely not. Did your commentator say “should she run for V.P.?” Is that something new? If you lose, you get your campaign and/or the media to attempt to shame Obama into giving her the position of Vice President? Is that called ‘drop down’ campaigning? Obama should be allowed to chose his own people, just as anyone else before him. No doubt he will recognize and bring together smart, dedicated people to fill out his administration. Don’t put baggage on the man, allow him to take on his role in his own way.

If Barack wants to win the presidency, the only chance he has is to have Hillary on his ticket. He is in danger of losing 30-40% of the party voters because of the heavy-handed way he treated Hillary and the way his supporters manipulated the votes in the less sophisticated caucus districts. I have been voting for Democratic Presidents since Lyndon Johnson, and I have never seen so much animosity in our party. Obama may think he can beat McCain without the support of the Hillary voters, but if so, he is sadly mistaken. Plus, she has already demonstrated that she can carry the swing states – those states that virtually ALWAYS go for the winning candidate. He may think that he can pick another woman and that will appease the women who backed Hillary, but my guess is that most of them will only be satisfied if Hillary is on the ticket with him. My guess is that he is leaning toward Sibelius of Kansas, but she will not appease the Hillary crowd. We need a Democratic administration so we can get the legislation through to start mending the cracks in our Country’s foundation that were caused by the most incompetent President and administration in my lifetime. Our country is in deep trouble and just like JFK determined that the only way he could defeat Nixon was to have LBJ on his ticket – and the two absolutely hated each other. It worked then, and it can work today. If Barack is as smart as most people think he is, he will see that this is a must-do.

Obama won because he has charisma and he is a man. Pick Hillary otherwise a lot of us will vote for McCain and we don’t want that. If Obama was the candidate he should have blown out SD. Montana isn’t going to vote Democratic anyhow so who cares? AZ has a chance to go either way because McCain does not seem to care much about us.

Posted by: Arizonan | June 4, 2008, 12:17 am 12:17 am

Absolutely not. There are far too many clips of both Hillary and Bill Clinton belittling Senator Obama (“all he has is a speech…,” “a fairy tale,” the ludicrous 3 a.m. phone call commercial, etc.). Imagine how much the McCain campaign would use those clips to their advantage. Senator Clinton should have foreseen that those remarks and tactics would hinder her prospects as a vice presidential candidate — to say nothing of the effect of those remarks on the Democratic nominee.
I say this as someone who actually watched all 20-odd Democratic debates (imagine!), and who fully supported Senator Clinton until her campaign’s many missteps in January and February.

I would not cast my vote for Obamba even if he ran with George Washington. All those Obamba lovers should take a look at what happened to cities such as Irvington and Newark, NJ after Obamba types took over. Will America resemble those cities after four years of Obamba rule? Why is it that the majority of persons in prisons are Obamba types? The Democrats will lose their best chance to win the presidency by nominating Obamba for I and many others will vote for the Republican nominee.

Clinton and Obama could be an unprecedented team. With the mess we have to deal with from Bush and the Republicans we need two strong people to work on bringing the country in the right direction. One who represents change and another with experience–what a great combo! Just look at the economic mess–any second grader knows that you don’t print more money to deal with inflation, yet that is exactly what the pres. is allowing the treasury to do. Consider the war, the health, etc. Make the pres & vice pres into a ‘real’ working team to make this country the best it’s ever been!!!

I believe that John Edwards would be Obama’s best running mate. He is young, intelligent and level headed. She couldn’t keep her own husband interested in her. He was so busy with the interns, I believe Hilliary did much of the heavy decision making for Bill. This would be her third term in office!

Barak Obama needs to win in November, and its too soon to celebrate. I think it will be only wise for him to pick Hillary as running mate to ensure the victory in November. Nomination is no good, if he can not win in November. If democratic party wants the White House, Obama Hillary ticket is a must. In fact neither Hillary nor Obama can win November election alone. Only when they are togather, then they can be sure to beat John Mccain.

Posted by: Sudhir jain | June 4, 2008, 12:20 am 12:20 am

I really thought that George W was arrogant, but in this campaign I’ve seen a rival: Hillary. Her actions reinforce what we thought all along: that she was entitled to the nomination on a silver platter. Now, she feels that way about the Vice-Presidency. Since she would really have more influence and power in the Senate, we have to ask ourselves: what is her ulterior motive in wanting to be VP?
She is a team player, as long as it’s all about Team Hillary. She’s tenacious but also treacherous. I really liked Bill as President, but in this campaign I have lost a great deal of respect for both of them. One of the greatest steps Obama can take to show his vision, temperment, reason, strength, and power is to choose someone other that Hillary as Veep.

Yes, he will have a stronger backing with her as the VP. She made history too, remember that. They have many connections worldwide and relationships that could work well for us. Combine their assets for our good.

YES! I am surprised at the contempt for Clinton. She is very intelligent and personable in person. What bothers you about her? IS IT her intelligence? Can you still not acknowledge that there are many (more) sensible, intelligent women than men? We need to win. We cannot afford to have a republican in office. The Party needs to figure out a winning ticket and if Clinton is it, then get over it and get behind the ticket.

Posted by: MN voter | June 4, 2008, 12:21 am 12:21 am

No, it might help to bring the Democratic party back together. However, I just don’t think it would work well in the long run.
I happen to like Hillary and what she has tried to accomplish. However, whether justifiable or not, Hillary still carries a lot of negatives with her.
Further, if Obama were able to win the presidency, I am not sure that Hillary (and Bill) could play the submissive and supportive role that is usually characteristic of a VP. I’m pretty sure that Barack is far too wise than to make the mistake of offerring Hillary a spot on the ticket. If Hillary really wants to help Barack achieve his vision, she probably could be far more effective in the Senate.

Senator Clinton is a very devisive personality. It is not the changing of positions after thoughtful consideration that is an issue, it is the changing personality that was a hallmark of her campaign.
Senator Obama needs somebody on the ticket who not only has experience, but somebody who will help with his main objective, unification of the country, not simply a political party.

Posted by: Deborah Wilson | June 4, 2008, 12:21 am 12:21 am

Obama absolutely needs Clinton as his VP. Let us be pragmatic and realistic about Obama’s feasibility in obtaining the necessary nationwide voter blocs required to win the White House in November against the Republicans. Fact: Hillary is the absolute best nationwide Vice Presidential choice for a November success. If Democrats are to win the White House, it is necessary for Obama to select her as his running mate. It’s the ONLY way Democrats will win in November. Any other VP choice and the Democratic Party will not beat McCain/the Republicans. Any other VP choice besides Hillary and Obama will not get the voters across the country he requires. If Hillary is not selected for the Vice Presidential position, Obama will not be able to pick up Clinton’s 18 plus million voters nation-wide necessary for victory. If Hillary is not selected for the vice presidential position, McCain will carry the November election. Obama will not have the voting majority needed to win the White House, and we will still have Republican-based problems and the Iraq War to contend with for another 4 years. Mr. Obama: Do what is required for Dems to win in November — Select Hillary Clinton ASAP and let’s have a great, great Democratic National Convention and head onto November!!

Posted by: C McDonald | June 4, 2008, 12:21 am 12:21 am

Whether you agree with Clinton’s tactics or not she was playing the card this beloved country is all to familiar with, race. Why not take the poison of ignorance and use it has healing? A Obama/Clinton ticket guarantees victory. The very thing that divided this nation will bring it together.

Posted by: Dannon | June 4, 2008, 12:21 am 12:21 am

No, Obama should definitely NOT pick Hilary for his VP. I am an older, white female, and I think Hilary would be a huge mistake to be included on the ticket. She has the highest negatives of any politician – why we want that on the ticket? Many Republicans voted for her in the primaries so they could run against her (and beat her) in the General Election. I am not against a female – I would love to see a well qualified and unifying woman become president, but unfortunately, Hilary does not fit that description. (By the way, I was a big supporter of Bill Clinton when he was President. Unfortunately, I now think he is a big liability…) I also do not like the way Hilary seems to be “blackmailing” the Obama camp to name her VP. Give me a break!

Posted by: Betty | June 4, 2008, 12:22 am 12:22 am

It’s his decision to make. I think he has a lot more “inside” if you will information to go on than doew the general public, and think he will make an informed decision based upon all of what he knows and feels.
Personally, I don’t think that based on what the media has shown to the public, that voters would so strongly vote for Obama as they would if Hillary was not in the ticket. Some in fact may actually vote for McCain, just out of dislike for the not too likeable persona that Hillary presents for the public most of the time.
No, IMO, he would do best not to pick her.

Posted by: Kathy_64 | June 4, 2008, 12:22 am 12:22 am

I think it would be foolish for Barack to offer Hillary the VP spot, she has shown nothing but contempt for him and that she’s a sore loser. Her and Bill have taken every pot-shot or enuinodo to make him look like a fool and unhonorable man.
Personally beneath all that caring she pretends to have, I feel she’s a liar, and will do anything to get herself in the White House, where she would try to undermind Barack every chance she got! So no, she doesn’t deserve that appointment, or any other in his cabinet, if America really wants change, then it can happen without her!

Posted by: KL | June 4, 2008, 12:24 am 12:24 am

Emphatically YES!!!! She would be a great help to him in the Presidency. And she would bring with her all the female votes that might fall to the wayside without her. I feel she has the knowledge and hard working personality and charm to handle it all so well.

One day as I was sitting there, a quiet voice, (for me The Lord Jesus’s voice) said, “in the latter days, i am going to do something for the black people, because of their loyalty, during their very difficult times.”
I only told one person this, and that was in 1984, but I thought maybe this would be a good time to mention it.

FACTS: Only the Clintons understand the American economy. Social Security is being paid with money borrowed from China. The USA doesn’t make enough money from tax payers the IRS only reports $400 billions a year. The USA owes $40 trillions with interests. There are 1000 billions in a trillion. There is no money for Social Security it has been taken for other expenses. The USA people don’t have as much savings compare to the rest of the world. The USA medical system is the most expensive in the world. The oil bought today is paid with money borrowed from China. The world considers China the new empire not the USA. When Mr. Clinton was President the USA was #1 in the world with the strongest economy. The Clintons left $500 billions surplus, a balance budget and the world enjoy peace. YES! Sen. Clinton should be the VP. If Senator Obama and his team are serious about doing what is best for America then he WILL PICK Senator Clinton as his running mate. She is without question the best candidate. He needs to put his ego aside and the emotional feeling of his wife and do what is smart. The Republicans want to run against Obama because they are confident that– in the end –many people will go in the ballot box in Nov. and vote their fears by voting for McCain. By putting Sen. Clinton on the ticket, less people will vote for McCain. Many of us will stay home election day if she is not on the ticket. Put her on the ticket.

Positively not! She is devisive and a sore loser. If the numbers were reversed, she would never let Obama use the Florida and Michigan delegates to add to his count. She refuses to concede and acts as if she won the nomination. She has no right to assume the VP spot and he should not trust her.
I am a conservative and will not vote Democratic under any circumstances, but I will respect any winner. After all, we are the party with class. No railing and wailing!!!
Congratulations to you Mr. Obama. Remember the race is not given to the swift nor the strong, but he that endures to the end!!!!!
By the way, I am Black and George W. Bush is my main man. God Bless you Mr. President!!!! The nation has been down right nasty to him, with no respect for the office. It would appear from mostof the comments so far a lot of people do not trust Sen. Clinton to be an asset to Sen. Obama in the General Election. I think they are somewhat biased. Let’s look at reality: Of all of the Democratic Voters who showed up to vote in the Primaries, over 17 Million voted for Hillary Clinton for President. That is more votes than John McCain received during the Republican Primaries.
I think the better question is where would Sen. Clinton be more effective in the Senate or as a Vice-President. I think she would have more of a voice and influence in the Senate than as a Vice-President. In addition, she can still campaign and support Obama and he is free to pick a VP who he can be comfortable with.

Posted by: Howie, Hamden,CT | June 4, 2008, 12:30 am 12:30 am

Absolutely not. Under no circumstances should Senator Obama choose or feel pressured/bullied into choosing Senator Clinton as his running mate. Senator Clinton, with the assistance of media have no right to infer, or demand that in order to win the General Election he must choose her. There are a number of other very capable individuals he can choose from. After everything he has gone through in this race, he has earned the right to choose his running mate. As any nominee has that right. I doubt that if Senator Clinton were the nominee, she would seriously give a moment’s thought to offering the Vice Presidency to Senator Obama. There is no way she would. I find it rather interesting that Senator Clinton chose to insert herself through the media, as a possible running mate, on the day Senator Obama earns the nomination. Those might not have been her exact words but the meaning was there. I feel the intent was not only to remove some of the spotlight of his special moment and revert it to herself. I feel she deliberately chose this particular moment to attempt to publicly put pressure on him to pick her as if she is his one and only way to go as a running mate. Why would she want to be number two. She always made it very clear that she was in this race to be the President, not the Vice President. I don’t see Senator Clinton being able to accept second place – to be number two to anyone. She was not even gracious enough to congratulate Senator Obama. Those words never left her mouth. It was all about her. The way in which an individual handles loss says a lot about that person.

Obama should instead pick me (David). At least I would be loyal to him. This lady would do anything to become president and I wouldn’t dine with her at any circumstance. The least she could do was congragulate him for his victories. Her fake congratulation for ‘Running a great campaign’ is loughable to say the least. this woman has no shame. Dear Senator Obama, I am sure you are a very smart man and I am sure you won’t make this foolish decision to pick her as your running mate. This country is blessed with several leaders that are loyal and truthfull.
God Bless you and take Care

No, I hope he does not select Clinton as his running mate. He needs someone he can trust. She is a take charge person and she will act as if she is the president and he will be the vp. I think she stretches the truth to much

Even to the end there are still people HATING. HRC didn’t even as much as congratulate him on becoming the nominee. I hope to hell she’s not invited to be the VP. Everyone waiting for BO’s demise will have a long wait, it WON’T happen. As far as this tape about MO, Please, it would’ve come out alright to damage his efforts towards HRC’s plight. Why don’t you all just give it up. My prediction for NOVEMBER; BO wins by a landslide. MCcain will not be PRESIDENT. (This is from a reliable source who PREDICTED BO will be PRESIDENT and HRC will lose to him becasue of her husband, bad campaining and her strategist’s that have guided her the wrong way) Nothing however, is written in stone my source said but that is the path that is seen right now and it doesn’t look like it will be changing since last communicating with him. I’ve wanted to all along include this with my blogging earlier but I wanted to see if what he told me would come to fruition and it has. My source also predicted high gas prices that could reach $9.00/gal next spring and the terrible storms that have hit across this nation. He also said that because of this particular election parties will be torn and that people will not trust GOV officials. Just to let you know that I am not pulling one over on you, he also predicted 9/11 and said that there is more to it then has been led on by the U.S. Gov. MY SOURCE, Fred Rawlins.

No, Barack Obama, does not need Hillary Clinton or Bill Clintons baggage, for VP. This would be like Oil and Water, they just don’t MIX. For an Experience First Lady, Hillary Clinton does not have any Manners, she never Congratulated Barack Obama, for the nominee, when he clearly reached the numbers. This is a clear divide, in the same party. I could not believe what I saw and heard from Hillary Clinton or Bill Clinton, maybe they should take Bill Clinton’s own words if you can’t take the Heat get out of the Kitchen.
This was Barack Obama’s Night, not Hillary Clinton’s.

How many people posting for Obama to pick her are people hoping to get their bills paid if she gets the VP slot? Honestly, what would possess Obama to pick her. She is a spiteful, vindictive, psychopath who STILL refuses to concede to defeat. Why? Because she is a narcissistic, sociopath that will never even understand why she lost. She really needs some severe mental health help. Does anyone remember how she and Bill looted the White House and Air force One at the end of his term. They summarily dragged this country through the mud for 8 years. Now they can’t pay their bills? BOO HOO! Drop dead Hilary.

Absolutely NO!!!! Senator Clinton needs to grow-up and Former President Clinton must realize that the real “Black Man” has made it to this 2008 Presidental Democratic nomination (not a fairy tale…reality). Now America, let us show the world that we have transcended racism ad biggotry. Dr. King had stated over 45 years ago,”…be judged by our content of our character and not by the color of our skin.”
America let’s go to work and be bless!!

Clinton should not be chosen for VP because it could compromise the change we need in Washington. Her political experience might be better served in some other position.

Posted by: Ms T | June 4, 2008, 12:37 am 12:37 am

Hillary’s Washington “savvy” is what we do not want. That is part of the problem. If she had not done what she thought would shore her up as tough on security issues for her planned future White house bid, she would have voted against the war.
That vote was cast to make her look like she had as much “b@ll$” as any man and look where it got us. The guys with the real thing were the 23 that voted no.
Senator Obama is well equipped to run the White House. He is very thoughtful and intelligent man that knows when to seek other opinions. His first thoughts and selections got him a team that “out thunk” Senator Clinton. They made a game plan, had a message, and stood the test of all the Clintons could throw at him.
He has earned this; he can handle it; and it is his right to choose his running mate.

Obama should not pick Clinton as VP. We would have an endless power struggle between the President and VP which would eclipse anything we have seen so far in congress. She simply want the head position too much and would be counter productive to brining the country together.

Posted by: L.A.W. | June 4, 2008, 12:39 am 12:39 am

No. Hillary has no class. She has never conceded at anytime, even while Mr. Obama lavished her with praise.
As one observer put it, Mr. Obama would
have to check his back. I hope her supporters do not ‘push’ for such an outcome. Let Mr. Obama select someone who can assist him in obtaining the Latino, older women and white working class men votes.
How about Mr. Bill Richardson.

Posted by: Plainspeaking | June 4, 2008, 12:39 am 12:39 am

WHY WOULD YOU WANT A VP THAT DOES NOT EVEN RESPECT YOU ENOUGH TO ACKNOWLEDGE YOU AS THE PRESUMTIVE NOMINEE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. HILLARY VOTERS DISLKIE OBAMA AND BLAME HIM FOR HER LOSS THEY WILL PROBABLY NEVER SUPPORT HIM. THEY WOULD KEEP BUSH IN OFFICE THAN VOTE FOR HIM. IT IS NOT ABOUT EXPERIENCE,OR GENDER AT THIS POINT IT IS MUCH MORE PERSONAL. THEY ARE THE ANTI AMERICANS INSTEAD OF OBAMA !!!

Posted by: merle7 | June 4, 2008, 12:40 am 12:40 am

Throughout this process I have been calling things accurately, which has amazed some. I kept saying watch Richardson because he carries weight. Did you notice how upset the Clinton camp was when he declared for Obama? I kept saying Edwards would go Obama and want Attorney General or Education. His camp says he wants AG because he admired Bobby Kennedy. Two for two.
I have told people that Senator Obama needs to offer her the next seat on the Supreme Court. This would be a life time job and she would be the youngest woman on the court. Sure enough that is now being batted around. Three for three.
In my opinion she should NOT be offered the VP slot. If she couldn’t drop her pretense of uniting the party and congratulate him on WINNING then why should he offer her the coveted spot she wants? If she could stand there and say she won the most votes in the primaries (discounting the caucaus states and adding Michigan) discounting his true wins, why should he offer her the coveted spot she wants? If she brings President Clinton with her and as an ex he still gets security briefings why would one think she wouldn’t try to undermine him in some way.
No to Clinton(s) for VP. Look at Richardson, Warner of VA, or anyone not too heavy in the Clinton camp during the contest.

Posted by: Yvonne | June 4, 2008, 12:40 am 12:40 am

OBAMA SHOULD NOT CHOOSE HILLARY AT HER VP. SHE NEEDS TO BACK HIM NO MATTER WHAT, NOT BACK HIM IN A CORNER! IF SHE CONCEITED EARLIER AND BACKED OBAMA WHEN SHE KNEW SHE WAS ABOUT TO LOOSE, THEN OBAMA COULD HAVE MADE HER HIS VP. THE LAST THING OBAMA NEEDS IS A CLINTON HOVERING OVER HIM.

No way This would go against all that Obama stood for on his way to the nomination. The idea of having no baggage and owing no one, would be lost. She owes to many for her and Bills life time. Obama: This Republican would vote for you, But not with Hillary! Keep the youth movement going..

Posted by: Kevin & Adoline | June 4, 2008, 12:41 am 12:41 am

No, Barack SHOULD NOT choose Hillary as his running mate!
1. Can’t trust her
2. There are more qualified candidates who will bring more to his ticket than she will that are trustworthy
3. With Hillary on the ticket, I don’t think he’ll beat McCain. Operation Chaos was in play in the South and other areas of the country, which means some republicans who would never vote for a democrat in the general election voted for Hillary in the Primary because they felt she was the one McCain could beat.
4. She is still trying to divide the democratic party in her ploy to secure VP position; she continues to show her personal want is more important than the need of the country. She has not graciously conceded the democratic nomination to Barack, and she is more of the same, not change.
5. We need CHANGE in this country! BARACK, please choose someone who will work with you and for you. It’s not Hillary!

Posted by: Tonlya | June 4, 2008, 12:42 am 12:42 am

NO. I think it would be a major mistake and possible disaster. Hillary and Bill bring “nothing” to his table but their appetites and their lust for power.
Hillary does not deserve the nomination. She has been divisive, dishonest and schizophrenic in this campaign. We always knew that she was the ruthless strategist behind Bill but her campaign tactics have demonstrated an all time low even for her.
Vanity Fair has already outed Bill and whether they cited specific names of not….we know that some dogs don’t change. He’s the white Marion Barry and part of the reason that we so desperately need CHANGE in this country. Who needs four more years of his tragic flaws and lack of self discipline being exposed? Who needs four more years of either of them?
He won the nomination on his own despite their combined efforts to undermine him and the Democratic Party. He WILL win the Presidency.

Posted by: CTW | June 4, 2008, 12:42 am 12:42 am

No, definitely not! I didn’t like either one of them as a canadate, let alone both of them together on a combined ticket! It’s a shame we don’t have a better choice for not only the Democrat ticket but the Republican ticket as well. I think most people will have to decide which person is “the lesser of two evils” (sorry for the pun).

The only thing constant is change. The race for presidency has been the most controversial political campaign I have experienced. The best person for the job has prevailed. I do not believe Clinton is the best person for the position of vice president. Whomever Obama selects as a vice president should be a candidate everyone can relate to. Their qualifications should also make them a help, not a hinderance.

Posted by: Jake | June 4, 2008, 12:46 am 12:46 am

Absolutely NOT!!
This is so crazy. These Clintons are soooo smart. Her entire reason for staying in this race after it was obvious she would not win was to damage his candidacy enough for him to be beaten. She knew it was over but she had to put herself in a position where she could say “See, I told you so” and run in the next four years. And now, word gets out that she would accept the VP spot. What does that do? She knows he wasn’t going to ask her. She also knows if he doesn’t her followers would be incensed and vote for McCain or just not vote at all. This will allow McCain to win and sets her up for 2012. Wow!! This women and her husband will do anything.

Of utmost imporance is defeating McCain. He stands for endless wars–with Iraq, Iran and who knows who else, which will necessitate a huge endless military draft, sky-high taxes and lead to $10-a-gallon gas and possibly an economic collapse and much more intense anti-Americanism worldwide. His policies will literally destroy this country. We need to get our heads together and stop that. So whatever it takes to defeat McCain, because he is as bad as it could possibly get.

To be fair, I must correct something I stated in my earlier response. I said Senator Clinton did not “congratulate “Senator Obama. That “those words never came out of her mouth.” This was my mistake. Senator Clinton did congratulate Senator Obama . . . but not for prevailing and becoming the Democratic nominee. She congratulated him on the race. There’s a sea of difference in that “congratulation.” Although, again, I apologize for my mistake.

Posted by: Harrington1 | June 4, 2008, 12:52 am 12:52 am

Yes, he should pick Hillary. With her as VP, Obama won’t have to take so long to learn his way around DC and International Affairs. Maybe we can get some changes into effect sooner than the 2 – 3 years it usually takes for a new President.

Posted by: Fran | June 4, 2008, 12:53 am 12:53 am

Posted by: Josh | June 4, 2008, 12:53 am 12:53 am

Absolutely not. Her campaign has shown a shallowness of character and a penchant for dramatics that would have been more suitable to children running for class president than a grown woman. Her backstabbing and whining is exactly the sort of politics I am sick of seeing.
While I would have liked to see a female president, I felt she would be a bad president and therefore a bad precedent as well – we want the first female president to be a GOOD one, not an elitist little backstabber who cannot admit to her own mistakes or concede defeat and who seems to be trying to hold party stability hostage in the hopes of getting on the ticket.
And why does this matter if she’ll be vice president instead of president? Remember her remarks about Bobby Kennedy? And then remember what we get for president if anything happens to the president. If Clinton gets on the ticket, I’m afraid I just may lose my last shreds of hope for this country and start planning to move to Canada.
Watch your back, Obama. That little snake is poisonous.

Posted by: Stacy | June 4, 2008, 12:53 am 12:53 am

Imagining the worst scenario,
Obama will be a mediocre president and might get elected for 2 terms if he can trick Americans into thinking he is doing a good job. But McCain is sure to bomb big time. After 4 years America will be so sick of him they will beg for a new president. And Hillary will be the only choice people will want to make.

Posted by: neil1785 | June 4, 2008, 12:54 am 12:54 am

I just hope that nothing happens to McCain, (like he chokes on a peanut, fall out of his chair, hits his head and… Then Hillary would switch parties and run as a Republican against Obama. What a mess that would be.

After reading these very limited comments against obama/ clinton combination, I sincerely hope that Obama will wakeup and realize that he is not on stable ground. The chances of Obama winning without the very solid Democratic voters from Clinton is slim to none. Obama voters include (1)Black voters who in many cases are voting for him because he is half black ,and has graduated from Harvard (many may not show at election time if the weather is too cold),(2) young 20-40 years olds who think by putting someone their age in ,that they can rule the world ( if they have to stand in a voting line without coffee and donuts they may not stay) and(3)Many Republicans which were trying to sway the Democratic election to an easier candidate to beat. As much as Obama wishes to hide base root America , racism is alive and will in the USA. People tend to only see him as Black. Too many, the idea of Black children in the white house is unthinkable. Sadly ,this country of liberty and freedom for all only exists if racial purety is preserved ( White need only apply). Many who say the politically correct comments will vote differently when they are by themselves in the voting booth. “We are not free at last”.

Hillary is wrong for trying to worm her way into position of VP, but oh, that’s what people like her do when they can’t have there way. This country has had there way for too long and it is time for a change. McCain and people like him said that you need to live up to a certain standard accept them. What about his Pastor, what about his wife not reporting her taxes and saying she isn’t, but if it doesn’t make it better for them, they just change the law to suit there needs. Well I,m tried of working hard and getting no where. I hope Obama blows McCain out the water. I love Obama and think he he just what this country needs. Hillary can never be second in command. She’s far to egotistical. She wants to make all the decisions and have all the power; its just her nature. When the two highest positions in our government are in a power struggle it distracts them from issues that really matter, i.e. Iraq, housing crisis, healthcare. We need to have a cohesive administration and I just don’t think that can happen with Hillary as VP.

NO!!!!
For the first time in my life (59 years old), I voted Democratic in the primary.
I voted Democratic because I was so impressed with Barak Obama and his refreshingly honest message, and because I was so tired of the “same old stuff”. I am a white female, and would love to see a woman as president or vice president, but that woman should not be Hillary Clinton. If she were selected as his running mate, I would go back to voting Republican. She has shown herself to be untrustworthy, arrogant, self-serving and a poor loser.
The country needs a fresh start, and I have faith that Obama could bring that. Choosing Hillary would be totally against his message of change. If Obama were to choose Hillary, I would lose a lot of respect for him.

If he wants a SURE THING going into this with MCcain then he better pick Hillary! If not it could go either way and why take that chance? I sure hope he does because putting Mccain in the White house would be like putting Bush back in there and Lord knows we don’t want that!!!

YES, if the we want the Democrats to win this year the best ticket would be Hillary and Obama. We will need both of them to carry us through to make the changes that we need in this county. They are two strong people and I think they can help the working class people have a better life. I really believe that this is what they both want. John MaCain will become a very strong man to defeat. We need CHANGE.

Damn, I got a shoutout to “qbana70.” I’m sorry to see the hatred in your words. I’m one of the 20-somethings that volunteered for the Obama campaign.
I guess what has separated the U.S. from other nations is that we were founded by Puritans, who saw beyond race and ethnicity. A lot of the South which was colonized by peoples still stuck in Imperialism stayed with the mentality that darker skin equals less value.
But guess what? Racism equals ignorance. And I strive to better myself.
So essentially, the question you have to ask yourself is… Do you strive to progress, or settle for regress?

Obama supporters are just idiots to the end.
They think Obama can get into a game of chicken with the Clinton supporters.
These voters survived 5 months of bashing from the media. They survived 5 months of folks telling Clinton to get out.
They survived every concievable pundidt calling Obama the presumptive nominee for the last 2 months.
If they were going to move to Obama, they would have long ago.
If Clinton wants the VP spot and Obama denys it, he loses.
If he chooses to play chicken with the Clinton supporters and dare them to vote for Mc Cain , only 10% need to defect for Obama to lose.

Posted by: Obama supporters are idiots | June 4, 2008, 1:26 am 1:26 am

No, I don’t think Obama should pick Hillary Clinton as his VP. She has proven she cannot be trusted by exaggerating events in her career, and she refuses to see how her conduct is dividing the Democratic Party. Hillary needs to think about the future of the party and bow out gracefully. The time has come to not “suspend”, but end her campaign, take the focus off of herself and back the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Hillary showed a lack of class by not even congratulating Obama on his win. Does that sound like someone who could be trusted as a close advisor and confidant on issues concerning this country? I don’t think so. The idea of her forcing herself on the Obama ticket shows what kind of VP she would be if he were to select her as his running mate. That is a decision that should be his and his alone. A selection of Hillary as VP would result in a Hillary, Bill, Obama Whitehouse exactly in that order. That would not be best for Obama or the country.
Mr. Obama, please use the abudance of your God given intellect and make the wise decision not to choose Hillary as your VP.

Putting Hillary on the VP ticket will immediately unite the party and open the door for a landslide in November. Otherwise, I think it will be a tough rode for Obama. That said, it is time for Hillary to concede. She must step aside carefully, with grace and delicacy. With a soft landing, she will build a bridge for her supporters to fight for Obama.

Posted by: Sue | June 4, 2008, 1:31 am 1:31 am

I do not feel that Obama should pick Hillary as his VP. He should be free to pick whomever he chooses. Hillary does not have the attributes to be the President. She, at times, during her campaign was untruthful, exhibited a disrespectful attitude toward Obama & relied heavily on “her experience” which was not much more than Obama’s. Plus she voted for the Iraq war! She was also very proud of what she felt was the popular vote; well once the votes are tallied in the end, the Electoral College is the decider. Being the wife of a sitting president does not count as “experience.” No prior president had previous experience. For those Hillary supporters who say that they would never vote for Obama (for whatever reason) and feel that their vote is important, I say to you that you should be thinking about what is best for the country and cast your vote for whom you feel would best fill that role. And a note for those citizens from FL & MI, since you held your primaries early in opposition to DNC rules, you should have been punished and I feel that you got off easy by having your delegates seated & given at least 1/2 vote. So don’t be so upset that a few votes were given to Obama even though his name was not on the ballot. Just think of all the innocent people who have been charged with a crime they did not commit but spent years in jail as a result. Stop whining about the reasons you voted early and take your medicine! We must have rules & when they are broken there are consequences. Contrary to what some people may feel, I strongly believe Obama will make a great President. He certainly can do no worse than some of the ones elected before him.

For both of your information, neither one of you, nor do I for that matter know enough about either one of them to be making those kind of assumptions and statements.
I is of my opinion, however, that we, as citizens will see very little, if any real “change” in our day to day lives regardless of who won the nomination or of who wins the general election. This country has not been “free” for a long, long time. We are free to do as we wish, as long as it has the approval of government, whomever that may be…

Obama does not need Hillary to win the presidency. If God is for him (and I do believe he is ) who….who can be against him? My prayer for Obama is that he will “trust in the Lord with all his heart and lean not to his own understanding and all his way acknowledge Him and God will direct his path”.. to be the the best president of the USA…..Ever!!!
God used Hillary to put Obama through trials and tribulations, to grow closer to Him knowing that this would prepare him for the fall election. But, my hope is that God will direct her somewhere else.
Hillary campaign left a bitter taste in my mouth. She’s a woman I would never vote for under any circumstance. If Obama chose her, it will end his career. Everytime I hear someone mention the two of them as running mates I want to vomit!
Hillary not giving a concession speech also tells me the type of VP she would be. She will definitely undermine Obama’s authority.

GEEZ, YOU ARE TOO EXAGERRATING. WHEN HILLARY SAID KILL THEM BOTH, IT MEANS, MAKE THEM LOSE BY BEATING OBAMA FOR TEH DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION AND BY CAPTURING AND BRINGING OSAMA BIN LADEN TO JUSTICE.
HILLARY IS TOO MUCH OF LADY TO DO SUCH GRUESOME THOUGHTS OF YOURS. PEOPLE SHOULD BE MORE AFRAID OF WHAT OBAMA IS CAPABLE OF DOING CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT HE LEANS MORE TO MUSLIM PEOPLE (Quote of the Year: From ‘The Audacity Of Hope, “I will stand with the MUSLIMS should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” – Senator Barack Hussein Obama) AND HAS HAD BAD ASSOCIATIONS WITH THE MOST DANGEROUS PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.

Obama,
Congratulations Obama,
Don’t stop watching your back. Hillary still wants the presidency and she will not stop until she gets it.
She may concede that you think you won, but she will sill be plotting behind your back.
The next thing she is going to do is cry and try to get everybody to feel sorry for her, the Poor Female.
For God sake, don’t even think about feeling sorry for the POOR Female and giving her the VP decision. The last Presidential candidate who gave the VP position to a political rival was JFK. The only reason GWB is still around is because nobody wants Chaney as President. President Johnson did nothing, it was someone who did not like JFK and who would rather had LBJ as president. So, if you give Hillary the VP, you’ll have many millions of reasons to watch your back.
You know the Press, when it comes time for you to make a decision, immediately after you make your decision, the Press will ask Hillary what she would do?
Hillary will try to get all the attention and press every time she can. Why, because 2012. You know Hillary will not shut up and neither will Bill. Hillary will undermined you every chance she will get. If you are wrong and she is right just once, watch out, she will never let the press forget it.
If you give Poor heart broken Hillary the VP, you will be living in the White House, but who will be in charge of the country? I know it won’t be you.
Afro-Americans have come along way. Your success as president will reflect on every Afro-American in the United States. Your failure as president will also reflect on every Afro-American in the United States. Please don’t give Hillary and Bill the ability to control and hinder your success.
Now, if you want a female as a VP, think Opra.
Congratulations Obama,

Yes! This is my personal ideal ticket and regardless of those who have posted negative comments about her on this question, the FACT is there are plenty of voting democrats out there that DO like her and will vote democratic because she’s on the ticket.

Enough already!!!! Will the media PLEASE stop speculating about the possibility of Senator Clinton being selected as the Vice Presidential candidate??!!
Ditto all the Democrats who think it is a good idea.
Hilary Clinton (despite what she thinks) is NOT entitled to the VP position (nor does she deserve it). She LOST THE RACE for the presidency……she needs to accept that fact, publicly congratulate and offer support to Senator Obama and go back to the Senate.
I trust Barack Obama to make the right choice. I think there are a number of possible candidates that might be on his list. And I am sure that he wll give thoughtful consideration to each one.
A few months ago, the voters in Iowa sent the message to all Americans that Barack Obama really could win!!!!! And tonight he did win……………an extraordinary, amazing achievement.,,,,and historic event to which we are all witnesses.
People said he wouldn’t/couldn’t win against Hillary Clinton. But he did!!!!!!!!!!! And he will win again in November.
And he will do it WITHOUT Senator Clinton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mentioned that I TRUST Senator Obama. I could never say that about Hillary Clinton and I can think of many other reasons why I could/would never ever support or vote for her for ANYTHING.

She would only bring old baggage from the past and Bill to D.C. which could only spell TROUBLE! She somehow feels Obama is obliged to select her as VP because she is Bill’s wife and she has earned it. I think the Clintons time has come and gone. It’s not their time to shine this time ……It’s Obama’s time!

beatable. Obama is magic and it scares them.
4. McCain will eventually shoot himself in the foot.
5. the new wingnut Bill Clinton, shooting off his mouth

6. All the smears from Clinton come back to haunt
Obama, which she would have to deny and show
she didn’t mean: impossible

No, Hillary is too divisive and doesn’t help the ticket geographically. Yes, I know Bill is from Ark., but for most southerners, Hillary is a New Yorker. I’m undecided as to whether she should have a cabinet position or whether she could do more good in the Senate.
I think he should pick a strong, smart woman from a southern state…for example, Governor Kathleen Sebelius, a popular Democratic Governor of a typically Republican state.

Posted by: Nicole | June 4, 2008, 2:17 am 2:17 am

Hillary should NOT get the number two spot on the ticket. The bad behavior of BOTH the Clintons during the primary campaign has alienated many Democrats who would previously have supported her. She will NOT add strength to the ticket.
More importantly, in an Obama presidency, BOTH Clintons would make his life a living hell, trying to upstage and undermine him at every turn.
There are many other Democrats to choose from who are better qualified and more deserving.

If hillay clinton wants the position, then Obama has to decide whether he is willing to play a game of chicken with her supporters.
He loses that battle with Mc Cain.
What you Obama lovers think is that all the Clinton supporters will support the guy if he blows Hillary off.
They wont.
You got 18mil clinton supporters, and Obama clowns come on here and say ‘shes to polarizing’.
Are you calling the 18 mil supporters of hillary clinton idiots?
You enjoy mocking the entire other half of your party ?
I thank god Obama and Hillary dont take your stupid blogg messages seriously.
They are just mind boggling.

I doubt very much Obama has the capacity to “forgive” and forget all the unpleasantness between him and Hillary, even his side is the source of most of the ugliness.
One reason I dislike him is his lack of graciousness. Even in victory, he acts without grace when he refused Hillary’s hand.
I don’t think he has the wisdom and the unselfishness to think for the party as a whole. If he picks Hillary, his chance to win may be far better.
THE ONE THING MOST WORRISOME ABOUT THIS YOUNG MAN IS THE PROBABILITY THAT HE CAN’T HANDLE POWER. HIS INTOXICATION WITH POWER MIGHT MAKE HIM DO A LOT OF FOOLISH THINGS.

I wonder if two factors, neither of which were of any choosing on the part of either, race and gender (with the exclusion of radical surgery), were completely eliminated from any of this, as they should have been, as neither has a thing to do with the qualifications of a person to run a country, who different or alike the results would have been.
Also, for those of you who are hung up on race, none of you seem to remember that you could just as easily and fairly call Obama white, as he is 50% of each.

Of the 35 primary millions voters, 18 millions, the majority, voted for Hillary.
Why the hell Obama gets the nomination?
35-18=17. Obama has only 17 millions of voters.
So much for majority rule!

I have never seen any one more presidential than Hillary tonight!
Too bad she did not disguise herself into a man! If she did, she would have been pronounced the winner.
Hillary is the most dignified presidential candidate I have ever seen and I have seen many.
It does not pay to be woman!

People – Obama did NOT win. He has the SUPER DELEGATE votes – NOT the “People’s choice.” What is even more sad is that we will lose with him as president. He is not ready to lead our country. He was wishy-washy about his church pastor. If he cannot leave a church when he does not agree to what is being preached, how in the world can he lead a country when other nations disagree with us? I’m VERY concerned with his leadership skills. He has a LOT to prove to me for my vote in November. I don’t want McCain, but I will not vote for Obama unless he can prove trustworthy. So far, he has not. I feel badly for Hillary. The media pulled Obama up and pushed her down. Very unfair.

HILLARY & BILL CLINTON HAVE HAD THEIR TIME IN WASHINGTON–IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE IN BARACK OBAMA, AND OBAMA SHOULD PICK HIS OWN VICE-PRESIDENT–AND NOT BE FORCED TO HAVE TO CHOOSE HILLARY CLINTON. Yes — this is the best way to unite the party and win in November. Obama may find it difficult to accept her, and she may find it difficult to have so little say in running the country, but I think they are both smart and sensible enough to do a good job of this.

Posted by: Tonks | June 4, 2008, 3:11 am 3:11 am

NO! NO! and NO!. I think Obama needs someone he can trust. I also don’t think he needs to have Bill looking over his shoulder. If he picks Hillary he is actually picking Bill. Bill was great, but it is time to move on. Obama should put Hillary in charge of Health and Human Services and let her get her health care goals met.

How about Jim Jeffords for VP? He’s the real “maverick”, who, when the current administration started riding herd on moderate Republicans, went Independent rather than kowtow. He’s a profile in courage, a man of principle, and could make a terrific running mate.
Give Hillary a cabinet position that would make the best use of her brains and talent.

Posted by: Jacquie | June 4, 2008, 3:13 am 3:13 am

A resounding, YES!! Hilary has proved herself and she deserves to be VP. I have supported Hilary wholeheartedly. I also like Barack. Even though I wanted Hilary to win the nomination, i’ve always felt that they would make a winning team. Hilary’s supporters will come around to Barack especially if he picks her as his VP. If he doesn’t, then he runs a high risk that they won’t.

Posted by: Anna | June 4, 2008, 3:13 am 3:13 am

If he wants to beat McBush, he definitely SHOULD ask her to be his VP. He needs her and doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance without her. I’ll be voting for her as a write-in so if he’s smart, he’ll cash in on votes like mine by adding her to the ticket.

Posted by: Alison | June 4, 2008, 3:13 am 3:13 am

No.
Barack Obama’s campaign is about change. The differences between Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton a not differences on positions or in the content of their messages. The differences are methodological. Obama wants to reconstruct the system and open up Washington to the people, Hillary just wants to fix it. Hillary does not fit onto Barack’s ticket. This is not to say she won’t be beneficial as a cabinet member or Attorney General, but she is not the best person to take the VP spot and campaign for change against McCain.

Posted by: Jayson Lantz | June 4, 2008, 3:14 am 3:14 am

ABSOLUTELY SHE IS THE ONLY ONE AT THIS TIME THAT WOULD BE PERFECT TO BE VP AS THIS WOULD GET DEMOCRATS BACK IN CONTROL OF THE WHITE HOUSE. ALSO, I CANNOT EVEN THINK OF ANYONE MORE WORTHY THAN HILLARY.
AFTER READING THE OTHER COMMENTS I REALIZE THAT THERE ARE FAR TOO MANY HATE MONGERS OF HILLARY CLINTON; SAD BECAUSE THIS IS SO DUE TO THE FACT THAT SHE IS A WHITE FEMALE.

I think having Hilary on the ticket would be a bad idea in the long run. It would seem like a “dream ticket” on the surface because she would probably have the ability to deliver votes from some of the big states easier. In the long run however, once in the White House I do not trust the way the Clintons operate. Yes, the Clintons because they are a package. They are a machine I can’t see settling for second fiddle. They would probably get in and try to run their own agenda. They have proven in the past they can’t always be trusted. They shade the truth (i.e. sniper fire, the white house furniture incident, White Water to name a few). It would be like having a shark in your swimming pool. Obama needs to get someone in there he can trust.

Posted by: amazonauntie | June 4, 2008, 3:22 am 3:22 am

The question should be if Hillary should accept the VP. No, she can run as an independent candidate and beat both McCain and Obama. Obama only gets the nomination from the media and DNC, but will he get the enough support to win the general in November?

If you have her for VP I can only see problems for you. She and Bill will destroy you. You think you’ll be President but she will take over and you’re too nice I think to put her in her place. And what would you do with Bill. They’re nnot to be trusted.

Hillary today, in her speech showed that she SHOULD NOT be considered for vice presidential candidate. At a time when she had an opportunity to unite the party, she remained defiant and a tool in the propaganda machine for the Republican Party. She absolutely showed her true colors today. This was an opportunity this evening to show that she could be a team player, but instead she talked about herself and what she achieved during the past few months. Obama should NOT even consider her for VP, but maybe a seat on his cabinet – maybe as Secretary for Health and Human Services. I used to like Hillary … and Bill for that matter, but they have both shown that if they don’t get their way, that they cannot go along with the party and look at the bigger issue: GETTING THE REPUBLICANS OUT OF POWER.

No! Senator Obama brings a fresh and open approach to government which is not the Hillary Clinton way! Senator Obama needs someone that he can trust and Senator Clinton has proven that she cannot be trusted. Additioinally, former Bill Clinton comes with the package. That would be too much for anyone. Senator Obama needs to surround himself with people that he can trust. The Clinton’s do not meet this criteria.

No-Barack should pick someone he can work with like John Edwards ( if he’d accept) or Bill Richardson. Hillary while having a place in the party is not someone Barak should choose. she is still too polarizing a figure and her need to run things and do it her way (as well as Bill’s) is not a good match. I think Hillary would make a great Supreme Court Justice, and Barack should consider nominating her. She is very smart, will be able to have a chance to affect History in a way that would satisfy her legacy and would allow the court to be more balanced.

Yes, an Obama/Clinton ticket will make them unstoppable. Together they will beat McCain. Obama will have his supporters and Clinton supporters will follow. If Obama picks someone else, I think he has a good chance of losing. I think Clinton supporters will switch over to McCain. We need to get the democrats in. It’s time for the Republicans to leave. An Obama/Clinton ticket will keep the black vote, the white vote, the elderly vote, and the hispanic vote. We, the people, need to keep our personal bad feelings for Clinton aside and think about our nation. They will make a good team and Obama will be in charge. Clinton has more experience. She will be an asset to him. The democratic political campaign is over. The trash bashing is over. Let’s all work together and make sure Obama gets in.

I think they should orchestrate it together, he offers, she graciously declines, the powers that be put her in charge of the party in the senate for her articulate and generous support for the next four months, which she will give, noting that it was a tough campaign but that democrats are forged in fire and their spirits are strong enough to lead the country. Her support will be generous and her leadership in the senate invaluable. Those of us who supported her will be applauded for our choices and welcomed back. Here’s the thing you rabid crazy Obama supporters, he’s a great guy, I voted for her not because i don’t like him, I just liked her better. You folks do know that they have to talk to each other before she concedes, right? There has to be a plan and at this point he fairly well dictates the plan. I think the powers that be in the party, and the two candidates will talk to each other and she will concede and the way in which she concedes lets us know what she was promised. Seriously, the fact that she hasn’t conceded says as much about the party as it does about her. She’s not the only player, come on leadership BROKER THE DEAL for goodness sake already. :)

First Bill Clinton showed that despite his seemingly inexhaustible ability to express empathy to the common man, was, at heart, a narcissist, who could not ultimately take responsibility for ruining his presidency by exercising control over his libido. Instead it was always about that nasty man, the special prosecuter or the vast right wing conspiracy.
Sadly, Hillary seems to have succombed to the same disease. On the day which should have been the first day the Dems come together and rally behind their nominee, Hillary gives a speech in which she reiterates her tiring mantra that she is the best nominee and she really should of won if not for the nutty rules of the Democrat Party. Also she rails against sexism and media bias instead admitting that Obama beat her fair and square.
Sorry, but Hillary is too narcissistic to be an asset to a Obama campaign. And Bill needs to go back to fundraising and realize that he is like Rove for the GOP too toxic to have a positive impact on their party’s politics.

All the people who speak of ‘writing in’ Hillarry Clinton’s name on the ballot in November… why be idiots? Doing so will only guarantee the republicans the White House and ultimately, later on, the Congress and Senate. All of you grow up. Hillary did not win the nomination. Get over and and think about what’s best for the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. We need someone in office that is for America. Not for corporations. Not for lobbyists and not for old-school Washington politics. I did not initially support Obama… but seeing how this race has worked itself out, and how Hillary and Bill and divided the Democratic Party, I now know that Obama is the candidate for me and for America. When will the close-minded , short-sighteds learn? Sometimes you have to move on and do what’s best for all. Thinking in individualistic, selfish and the what-used-to-bes is no longer the solution for our country.

I thing Barack Obama should not be pressured to have Hillary Clinton as his running mate. He should choose the person he can work with best during his four years. I don’t think they have the right personality to work together. She has said some ugly thing in her campaign against Obama.
The is an article in the Opinion section in the Oakland Tribune with a picture of a woman looking like Hillary that read as follow:
“Of course I’d consider the Vice-Presidency…After all we all remember what happened to Lyndon Johnson when he was Vice President”.

Posted by: R. B. Stevenson | June 4, 2008, 4:02 am 4:02 am

NO. Hillary has already shown that she will never be able to play second fiddle again. She has tried in every way to bring Barack down. She could have run her campaign without doing that, but she’s Old School: divide and attack. She’s only focused on winning the prize for herself. She can’t be a team player — you can see this in her record by how her bills have virtually no co-signers. She thinks only she can do it right. She would always be wanting Obama’s job and resenting him for having it. I don’t trust her at all even though I’m her same age and race.

Posted by: JANE | June 4, 2008, 4:03 am 4:03 am

Don’t pick Hilary as VP candidate–she’s too stuborn and self serving and would constantly be trying to steal the show from Obama by putting herself in the public eye as much as possible even if her public positions put her in conflict with Obama. She also strikes me as being very manipulative and I could even envision a scenario where some of her disgruntled supporters might attempt to find a way of taking Obama out of the picture leaving the succession to Hilary.

Posted by: BL | June 4, 2008, 4:04 am 4:04 am

Hillary Clinton managed to raise over 11 million dollars that could only be used for the general election or she would have to return it. That gives Hillary 11 million reasons to want to be VP. One problem would be it would bring out the religious right that would normally stay home. McCain does not oppose abortion or hate homosexuals enough for these folks. There are better choices.

Posted by: Glen Parker | June 4, 2008, 4:16 am 4:16 am

Are you serious? Absolutely not! I saw a side to Hillary during the campaign that scared me. She is starving for power, and that scares me. She reminds me of Lady Macbeth. You get the picture?
In my opinion, Hillary has done more damage than good to the democratic party. She has created alot of animousity between her supporters and Senator Obama’s supporters. It will not surprise me if she decides to run independently. She is that desperate for power, and thinks only about herself.
Making her VP puts Senator Obama at great risk. Her inappropriate and out-of-place comments about the Kennedy assassination speaks volumes.
As of June 3rd she owed the State of Oregon over $46,000 and that is a fact. It was on the 11pm Katu news in Oregon. She owes OHSU, various schools and the list goes on. The news futher stated that Senator Obama’s campaign debt was fully paid. Hillary is yet to pay up, but oh… she wants to rule the country, and handle the current mess of our economy? How ironic! Frankly, the next President has quite a challenge at hand – regardless of who wins.
Hillary needs to get behind Obama as a democrat and support him and the democratic party, and perhaps she will gain back some respect and win back some of her funs and become the next president in 2016. Hillary is not a quitter which is admirable, but her politics is very LETHAL.
Senator Obama, is going to have to prove to the American public that he is a better candidate than Senator McCain, and may the better candidate win. Because of Hillary’s “Lady MacBeth” trait, it will be a BIG mistake for him to bring her on-board soley to get her supporters to vote for him, however as a democrat she will do well to get behind him and the democratic party so that their party can win.

There seems to be an interesting pattern in these responses. Those who say that Sen. Clinton SHOULD be Sen. Obama’s running mate seem rife with anger and vitriol, while those who suggest to the contrary make generally rational arguments that emphasize the difficulty they would have functioning together as a team after being elected.
For me, at the start of the campaign I would have been comfortable with a ticket that included both of them, irrespective of position on the ticket. Now that I have observed Sen. Clinton’s Machiavellian proclivity for mean-spirited, egocentric choices that put her self-interest above the good of our country, I would be very reluctant to let her anywhere near the White House.
In the end, though, I suppose there’s one reason to give her serious VP consideration — that if she’s NOT the VP candidate, she’ll quietly do whatever she can to scuttle Obama’s ship so that she can run again in 2012.

I did not like her “entitled” attitude, and I feel like she’s too tied to the 1990′s. She’s part of the “establishment” politics that we want to get away from. It is hard to unite when we insult each other without any basis for that insult. Isn’t it enough to just cast our votes, go for 95% of the eligible Democrats voting to show up the polls and take back the White House?
And its cool to be a rabid crazy supporter, because Obama supporters have a lot to celebrate, but healing only comes when the anger stops, right? It’s a lot easier to vote for the other guy if we think both candidates were good people. The polarizing is done when we personalize how much we hate the other guy and the horse he rode in on (his supporters).

Just what experience do you retarded Clinton supporters believe she has? Not one of you have ever been able to answer that question on any blog out there. It’s just sound bite crap being repeated over and over by the undereducated voters supporting this beast!
Get over it. If you are a true Democrat you’ll be voting for Obama in the fall. A vote for McCain is a vote to make you even more uneducated than you are now!

First thing you want from your VP is loyalty.
Obama would be dumb to pick her as VP.

“Time to Move On”…you’re an idiot. All of the people who think they know Clinton and what she stands for, or Obama for that matter are fools who follow what they’ve heard in the media through the sound bites. You don’t know squat! Just shutup, quit fighting, and if you’re a true democrat for for Obama no matter who he picks as his running mate.

No,Senator Clinton & her supporters represent everything that is wrong in America.Senator Clinton & her supporters have shown that both she & them always want to change the rules in the middle of the game. The very rules they all agree with before this process began.Furthermore playing the Race & Gender card, especially the Gender card I found very offensive. Senator Clinton & her supporters are part of this of this country past & Senator Obama truly represent this nation future.Senator Clinton failed to understand she cann’t brush aside her lack of trustworthiness.

Bill Richardson for Veep. Plant him in the Rocky Mountain states during the campaign and watch lots of red states turn blue.

No, no, and Hell No! Nominee Barack Obama has earned the right the choose his own Vice President, as this is a critical position of power and requires a special individual with solid character traits i.e. loyal to the end, wise beyond their years, ethically and diplomatically correct.
This position requires an individual with strong courage of convictions and principled in every way. The Vice Presidency should be held by an individual who understands: military tactics, logistics, foreign cultures, policies and terrains. This person should also be able to advise and protect President Obama’s back and not help the Bear.
Senator Hillary Clinton has not demonstrated any of these traits since I’ve known of her and I cannot help but feel that this would be a baddd mix.
I do however feel that the man for the job is: Colon Powell, if he renounces his Republican ties. Colon Powell is a man of integrity, one of the most prolific and accomplished tacticians in the world, he understands how the White House works, what our security needs are and how to shore up our armed forces. He’s not motivated by power grabs or backstabbing and Obama could trust him a lot better. He is well respected by all except George Bush, who refused to listen to his advice of not get into a losing war.
The country did want him to run for president some years ago, I believe that Colon Powell’s wife would allow him to help Nominee Obama secure the White House, the Country, and get the Oil flowing again.
This would be a Dynamic Dual that could save our Country, Economy and Lives all over the world. I hope that America can rise above itself and allow these two great men with bloodlines that are both Black & White to lead us out of darkness.

I am telling you all for a fact, the people who claim to be obama supporters on these bloggs are idiots who just dont get how to win a general election, or they are republicans who do, and want to keep the clinton supporters angry.

Obama supporters think:
Obama won 50% of the vote.
Obama won 51% to 49% of the pledged delegates.
So he can blow off Hillary and the entire half of the party and its 18 mil voters wont take offense to it.
Especially when there is a very liberal republican on great terms with the clintons as Obama’s general election opponent.
I say all this because I believe Hillary wants the job.
If she isnt on the ticket, I vote for Mc Cain .
He is a far better pick than a guy who makes piles of promises with no resume to back it up.

NO NO NO NO Hillary is a vicious, predatory b—- who will spend the whole time undermining his presidency and Bill will be trying to run the country himself in the meantime. She is everything Obama has run against, and he needs to put an end to Clinton politics. NO !!! I don’t agree that Hillary R. Clinton and Bill should be put back into the White House!! They played the race card for the “hate-mongers” out there in order to take votes from Barack Obama, and that was very unfair to people ofcolor! I considered voting for Hillary before all of this happened, but she showed me just what she thought of non-whites!I never heard anything about “race” from Barack Obama, nor did I hear him belittle women for running for President. She has destroyed my faith in a woman as President!! She “whined”, “pouted”, and “stamped her feet” like an 8yr. old who was insisting on getting her way, or else! And she is still doing the same thing, even now!!! I just turned the television channel when she came on because I could’t take it any longer!! I wonder if her supporters have mental issues, like her???
I strongly agree with “Carmen Cameron” and “Marilyn’s statments, and the other OBAMA SUPPORTERS!!!

Choosing Hillary for Veep would be a disaster in November.
In order to win, both parties need the Independents and moderate Republicans. Whoever wins the moderate vote will win the election. John McCain knows this. He is already playing up his belief in global warming in his TV ads. An Obama/Hillary ticket is far too liberal to appeal to many moderates–Obama needs a more centrist running mate. Also, aiming for the history books (first black; first woman) is a doomed strategy. It’s too much all at once for many voters to handle; one or the other, yes, but both at the same time, NO. If Obama chooses someone else, like John Edwards, he may lose some sexist fanatic Hillary followers, but most of the fair-minded 18 million Democrat voters that Hillary acts as if she owns will actually vote for any Democrat ticket, when they finally consider the alternative. Any gains in Democrat votes from putting Hillary on the ticket would be more than offset by losses of Democrat votes of those who have become disgusted by the tactics of the Clinton campaign and by losses of droves of Independents and moderate Republicans.
If Hillary Clinton really cares about a Democrat win in November, she will bow out gracefully and within a few days, before she seems like a person at the party who stubbornly refuses to leave after everyone else has gone home. Overstaying her welcome could lead to losing favor with an Obama administration and carrying any fight to the convention would leave wounds that would be unable to heal by November and perhaps well beyond.

Hillary Clinton has stacks of unpaid bills she has not paid. (facility fees, school rental fees and so on.) Some of these bills date back to March of 2008! It was reported that the Obama campaign has paid all outstanding debts.
We do not believe that Hillary will be a good choice for a running mate (V.P.) in the wake of all her stubborn persistence and unpaid debts related to campaigning in Oregon. Perhaps these bills will go unpaid?

I THINK HILLARY IS RESERVING THAT RIGHT WHEN SHE DID NOT MAKE ANY CONCESSION SPEECH LAST NIGHT.

THAT’S A BUNCH OF BALONEYS. FIRST OF, OBAMA DID NOT PAY ALL OUTSTANDING DEBTS OF HILLARY. HER OUTSTANDING DEBTS WERE SO EXAGERRATED. WITH CLINTONS’ MILLIONS INTACT AND MORE INCOMING DONATIONS/CONTRIBUTIONS TO HER WEBSITE, SHE CAN EASILY PAY OFF. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THOSE DEBT ISSUES ARE GROSSLY EXAGERRATED.

Posted by: neil1785 | June 4, 2008, 9:50 am 9:50 am

No — I would not want to see her on the ticket. He does not need her to win and I see her as bringing more baggage! He needs someone with stronger foreign policy. She seems so ruthless and he so genuine — I am a conservative republican who usually stuck up for President Bush — but now I am starting to wonder about his policies — so much goes on behind closed doors on both sides (Rep & Dems) that we average Americans do not see! Depending on how the campaigns go into the fall– I am considering voting for Obama — not if Hillary is on the ticket!
Also — as far as I am concerned — he does not owe her anything!! Why would he pay off her debt? she chose to get into to this — made her choices and has millions herself. She is the ELITIST.
The power-hungry Clintons need to go away!

It is amazing to see and hear all the TV talking heads. They all talk about color blind America. However I am yet to hear someone talking about Obama’s victory to clinch the nomination and not mention that he is first african american to be nominated as canidate from a major party. Also every conservative talking head suggesting that he should not pick Hillary as his running mate. Well, what do you expect from them, they are human first before they are journalist. Almost eveyone knows in their heart (if they are not biased one way or another) that Obama Clinton ticket will be unbeatable. But conservative talking head doest not want to see that happen. More over when they talk about, how bad are Clintons, it sells well with lot of Americans. It happens once in while when you have opportunity of perfect running mate. Obama Clinton is that perfect ticket. Anyone who has unbiased mind will come to this conclusion. Obama is gracious and has unbiased mind. My projection is that when dust settles down and he announces his runing mate decision, he will ask Hillary to be his running mate. She has made few mistakes along the way in her campaign and Mr Clinton has not helped the situation. Now is the time that she asks Bill Clinton to be ex-president and ask him to do what he was doing before he joining her campaign. She needs to have one on talk with Barak Obama and give him the respect he deserves as a nominee. I am sure he would do the same if she would have been the nominee.
And for the TV talking heads, our country is in in desperate need of true patriots and not another talking head who can achieve their personal agenda while they act like journalist or political gurus. This country will pay for Bush’s mistakes for decades to come. We all are american first and then Republican or Democrat. But we forgot that in last eight years, since the policy of current administration is to divide and rule by just 51%.

Posted by: Sudhir jain | June 4, 2008, 10:37 am 10:37 am

Now Hillary had several groups supporting her. Will these groups support Obama without Hillary as VP:
Di-hearted Democrats – Yes, They would vote for any democratic candidate no matter what.
Gays – Yes, Obama will support gay rights just as much as Hillary would.
Latinos – Yes, Why not?
Afro-Americans – Yes
Republicans who voted for Hillary in the Primaries per Rush – No, They will vote for a Republican.
All other Republicans – No, They will vote for a Republican.
Racist Whites – No, They wouldn’t support a black man as president even if Jesus Christ was the VP, so adding Hillary would not matter to them.
Democratic Women who don’t like Hillary – Yes
Democratic Women who want a woman as president – no.
So, the only group that is concerned about Hillary being on the Democratic ticket as VP is the segment of white women who like Hillary and who want a woman as president. This segment makes a lot of noise.

Posted by: BuckSCC | June 4, 2008, 11:11 am 11:11 am

This is not a sports game where crushing our opponents and smack talking is a part of winning, whether or not he chooses Hillary for VP or anyone, this will not change the fact that he is a Democrat and he won. Obama’s actual policies and Hilary’s are too close to vote for anyone else, unless we hurt each other so much that we keep fellow Democrats from feeling welcome at the polls In November. If we are reasonable people who voted for a candidate based on policy, then we should all vote for Obama in November over McCain whose policies really are not close to what Democrats believe.
I urge you when you write here or talk out there “do not put down the supporters of either candidate”. I made this mistake, I took it personally when folks were calling Hillary supporters undereducated etc. I’m not and even if I was, the time when a man or woman could not vote their conscience based on education levels, what they own, or some physical attribute is gone.
In the primary, I voted for Hillary here in California – a long time ago before this got so ugly – based on gut feeling, genuine admiration for her since her time in the White House, and health care and education. Right or wrong, as an American I think its really cool that I voted and had such great options.
I am asking everyone to respect my choice and trust that my choice was made based in good faith.
A word about positive discourse: For the last four years to voice a different opinion from George Bush on things like the Patriot Act got reasonable people labeled a traitor to America. Different opinions, and one man one vote is what makes America great.
I had a different opinion than the majority of Democrats. I voted for Hillary.
I am not bad, so don’t paint me that way: I grew up a Democrat, I have always fought for civil rights for different backgrounds and for those here without full citizenship and for the civil rights of minors. I give away what I earn and my time. I have donated 1000s of hours to education and working with kids and I am still an example of a Hillary voter. You really want me working in your schools or as a neighbor, because I will be there for you.
I loved watching the Nightline pieces on Obama and I have enjoyed listening to him and I am thrilled that he has won because I truly believed we had two good candidates. In the long run both have held up well although he has made less gaffes than she has. I think we will be stronger in November as a party because of the tempering we have gone through to this point.
SO my plea is that we not personally attack each other but respect each others choices. We are not the media and we aren’t looking for the sharpest knife (sorry, I meant story, of course). We are Americans and we are looking for consensus and a way to have productive discourse and a strong government.
Whoever is chosen to run on the ticket this November should get our full support, I have faith that we will choose two strong people to lead us for the next for years.

Heck No! After her behavior, Senator Barrack Obama would indeed be a damn fool to trust Hillary Clinton. Her only desire is to be President, and indeed she would succeed before long. I believe at any cost. Remember the story of the frog and the scorpion? The scorpion begged the frog to take him across the lake. The frog said no, you will sting me but the scorpion said, no, I only want to cross the lake. The frog trusted the scorpion and halfway across the lake, the scorpion stung the frog. “Why did you do that, the frog asked? We are both going to die.” It is my nature, the scorpion replied. Can Hillary change her nature and her desire to be President? Heck no!

There is only one word to describe Senator Clinton’s action yesterday: Unbelievable!
She fought hard, sometimes dirty and longer than most other candidates would have. But the people have spoken and Barrack Obama is the Democratic nominee. Yesterday was her final moment to leave the primary race with her dignity and respect intact. But she chose not to. The question is why? Is this smart politics or conniving to the ruthless end?
The Clintons have demonstrated a spirit of entitlement throughout this primary race—that they have a right to be in the White house again. The priest in Illinois was right. We have all thought it, some have verbalized it and he should not be punished for stating the obvious.
Senator Clinton lost her chance to be on the ticket when she refused to endorse Barrack Obama yesterday. Under no circumstances should any member of Senator Obama’s team or the Democratic Party even consider having Senator Clinton on the ticket. The Clintons have been spoilt sports in this race and is not deserving of any special privileges. Let them go lick their wounds and prepare for their next run, the Chelsea campaign for President.
The alleged 18 million who supports her would likely not have voted for her had there been a white male on the ticket. They don’t like a woman running the country any more than they would a black man. But I am guessing that some will come around when faced with the choice of continued economic hardship or possible better times with “Change”.
At first, I was excited at the prospect of a woman president but she soon changed my mind. As a woman, I have yet to meet another woman who supports her. Frankly, the ones I have spoken to have been embarrassed by her actions over this primary race. It is okay for her to lie and we are expected to forgive her lapse in memory but not Obama’s.
For the record, had the media called a spade a spade long ago, she would have been out of the race. But the media continues to give cover to those who prefer to hate in the dark. Hoods and gowns don’t work here but demographic titles that allow the racists to say one thing to pollsters and hide their hatred under titles of “low-income”, “under-educated”, rural voters kept Senator Clinton’s campaign alive. What’s in a name? Everything! Change is in a name. Until these people are recognized by mainstream media for who they really are, “hardcore racists”, America will never change. How does America expects to lead the world as a superpower with these archaic beliefs, that people of color are “less than.” Take a good look around America, people of color or multiculturalism represents the majority of the world’s population. Isn’t it time we all unite and be the human race that we are?
Senator Clinton, the fat lady has not only sung but has left the stage. Isn’t it time you joined her? A Clinton on the ticket is not “change” but old rhetoric in a new bottle.

NO WAY should Senator Obama pick Senator Clinton as his VP. At first I was all for it. The ticket would be a winner for sure, then I thought about it and I think Bill and Hillary would think of all kinds of ways to undermind Senator Obama. They might even try and get her in as President.
You heard what happens to the Clinton’s friends.

As an Obamakin I would be extremely disappointed in Senator Obama if he chooses Hillary as his VP. Myself and 18 of my family and friends originally changed parties strictly to block Clinton getting the nomination. That was back in Feb. with the intention of voting for McCain in Nov. That has all changed once we starting paying closer attention to the nomination process and found Senator Obama to be the person needed to bring our country forward to a fresh start. Hillary is old news. We have found that Clinton supporters LOVE Hillary (many times for all the wrong reasons) and don’t really CARE for Obama. However, Obama supporters LOVE Barack and HATE Hillary Clinton and her and her husbands shinnanagans. That is the difference between us. If Obama”s hand is forced to carry HER as his VP I am saddened to say I will not vote for him come Nov. and neither will I vate for McCain. For the first time in 35 years I WILL NOT EXERCISE MY RIGHT TO VOTE1

Yes. I still don’t trust Obama, but with Hillary with him, I’d worry less. Also, I have no confidence that Obama can beat McCain, but with Hillary as VP and a Dem ticket that strong, it would be unbeatable. However, I don’t think Obama will do it, because dealing with someone who thinks she should have your job is one thing, but his fear of getting Bill Clinton in the package is a deal-breaker — or a nonstarter, in reality.

Posted by: Judith | June 4, 2008, 1:58 pm 1:58 pm

Absolutely NOT! She and/or her organization have cheated, lied, connived, whatever throughout the campaign; and she’s acting like a spoiled child now that she’s lost.
I happen to be in that so-called older-white-woman demographic that experts claim are for her. Well, not in my neighborhod or community of friends. And I even went to Wellesley as she did. We call ourselves Obama Mamas.
I like, and have liked and admired and respected for years, Bill Richarsdon. He has executive/domestic experience as governor of New Mexico, has foreign affairs experience as ambassador, and he has strong ties to the Hispanic population.

Dear Senator Obama:
Yes, I really feel you should pick Hillary Clinton as your running mate.
We all have things we have said in the past (meaning we have our skeletons).
Many people look only at the present and what she has done in this campaign.
I know you are an intelligent man who can look at the whole picture. One thing we all know is that Hillary is one strong person (woman). Senator Clinton won’t give up the fight on what she believes in whether as a Senator for the State of New York or as the Vice President of this Nation. We need to keep the party United. We don’t need to split the votes. Senator Obama the people who say they won’t vote for you if she is picked have no clue about Senator John McCain. The Republicans will pick up on the Dirt and will state things. They will play tuff. However, with your left hook and Senator Clintons right hook you will achieve it and get the job done. Then it will be my pleasure to call you President Obama. How nice that sounds. We need a change in the right direction. I know you are the man for this Job of President and I know she is the woman for the job of Vice-President.
You both can offer one another so much.
I know when one is running for any office things are said out of context.
However, as a united front you will be unbeatable. Hillary down deep is a good Park Ridge, Illinois person. You are Senator Obama a down to earth good ole boy from Chicago, Illinois! Just like honest Abe (President Abraham Lincoln)!
I also wanted to express how wonderful it is to listen to you as a speaker.
You have such wonderful diction. I took a few speech classes matter a fact at Wright College in Chicago. I will pray for you that God Blesses you & protects you & gives you the strength, the perseverance, the knowledge, in this next leg of the campaign.

No, no, and no. Barack Obama should NOT offer the v.p. spot to Clinton. She would be poison to his campaign.
Furthermore, as for the arguement that she would bring him in her voters, the opposite is also true: she would cause him to LOSE votes. As many Democrats voted against her as for her.
The “advantage” would therefore be cancelled out.
Barack Obama is about change. Hillary is of the old-school Washington politics. To have her on the same ticket would be to neutralize his message of hope to not only Americans, but to the entire world.
Hillary might be more useful in another capacity and down the road. Just PLEASE not Hillary for vice-president.
Personally, I would like to John Edwards as Barack’s running mate. That would be an asset; Hillary would be a liability.

I think any residual goodwill felt towards Hillary was lost, at least to a majority of observant people, by the way she conducted herself last night. She did not concede and she was not gracious in doing so. She seemed to continue being delusional. With that attitude–and the one she has demonstrated throughout the campaign–Hillary has proved herself to be deserving of the word bitch. She has fought a hard campaign, but it has also been a very dirty one. It has also been a whiney one and with an obnoxious air of entitlement. It has been a shameful spectacle to watch unfold; putting her on the campaign trail with Barack would be suicide. Think about this:
I don’t know about you all, but I never put on a dirty sock with a clean one before I run a race.

The argument that I hear most often from uneducated people is that they will vote for McCain because “now black folks are going to be out of control”.(If they vote Democrat in November.)
Give me a break!!! This is 2008. Barack Obama is a man of color. Yes. Good. He is also a white man. (Remember his parentage?)
McCain is a war-monger, with the attitude that “Okay, I suffered as a POW, so now it’s someone else’s turn.” That translates to a 100 year war, with most of the world drug into it. That also translates to you uneducated, irrational, vindictive voters having someday to watch your sons, grandson, and great-grandsons coming home to you in body bags.
So you have 5 months to educate yourselves. Your vote should NOT be a knee-jerk, retalitory action. Ever hear of “cutting off your nose to spite your face”???
Hillary Clinton probably won’t end up on the ballot as the v.p. in November. Get over it. Get smart. Support your party if you are a Democrat. Support the United States of America if you are against sending your descendents off to ridiculous wars. Vote for Change in Washington. The best hope we have of a future, as a civilization, and as a proud society lies in an intelligent vote in November for Barack Obama.

To: neil1785 who responded to my post “YOU ARE SUCH A STUPID IDIOTIC PATHETICASSHOLE…”
Thank you for the insult.
I myself, respects your opinions and I will not insult you for them for I respect the US Constitution and freedom of the press.
I’m sure you as a citizen of the United States of America not only enjoy your rights that your government gives you, but you also have taken your responsibly as a citizen Of the United States of America and done your part in the protection of this country by forfeiting you time to serve in the military of the United States of America. I served under the Carter Administration. Several of my good friends served and died under the Johnson administration. My father served under the Roosevelt, Truman and Johnson Administration. My fellow citizen (meil1785), I ask you, as a present or past defender of freedom, do you really want Hillary leading you as your Commander in Chief when your life may be on the line? Have you ever had a personal conversation with Hillary when she wasn’t being putting on a facade while campaigning and promising people everything? I have and if she became my Commander in Chief, I would move to Canada. She won’t even salute members of the Military.
I was using these sub groups in general to point out my opinion that the only group of people in the US who would benefit from Hillary being the VP would be “white women who are democrats and like Hillary”. Any other sub group would not benefit.
The fact that Mr. Obama has received enough delegates to become the Democratic candidate for President tells me that he is qualified to become President.
Remember Hillary did agree to these rules without complaint before the primaries started.
I, by all means, would support a woman President or VP, however, not Hillary. It’s her personality.
Have a good day.

Without getting into politics, policy, or party here are four objective reasons to not add Hillary:
A) Who has been the biggest anti-Obama mouthpiece? Clue – Hasn’t been the republicans. And the things that were said (or not said) could be difficult to take back if Hillary suddenly became pro-Obama.
B) How much time/energy can you put into containing the Clinton administration to the Vice Presidency? Remember, you get two for the price of one. Chaney is a good example of how not do it.
C) People associated with the Clintons tend to die a lot. Voters seem to need a history lesson.
D) Frederick Douglass and Victoria Woodhull didn’t do so well in 1872. The past tends to repeat itself, see item ‘C’ above.

Posted by: Criz | June 4, 2008, 3:38 pm 3:38 pm

Offhand,I’d say yes, only because I believe between the amount of fragmentation that the party has made(mostly blown up by the “liberal” media)over this long primary season and the fact that both candidates bring strong qualities to the table–his=pasion, eloquence, courage and intelligence;hers=toughness, intelligence and savvy–would make this a unified ticket.
THat said,I think that Hillary may’ve tipped her hand over this election, showing off a little too much anxiousness to get the nomination and acting almost as if it was somehow owed her, though I doubt she’d ever say it implicitly.
Whatever Obama does,I’m supporting him thoroughly. McCain has made it all TOO clear that he’s willing to basically continue President Bush’s policies. That to me is simply unacceptable.

Posted by: S.R. Dipaling | June 4, 2008, 3:46 pm 3:46 pm

I don’t think he should pick Hillary as his VP. After everything they went through, why pick her? He should pick JOHN EDWARDS! He’s the man who truly wants change and I think he relates a lot more to him than with Hillary. I didn’t like how either of them acted throughout the campaign after John Edwards suspended his campaign. They were like two children who were always going at each other. Is Obama really going to forget everything Hillary has done up until this point? I think choosing Hillary would be a horrible idea. Sure they’re both Democrats, but I don’t think they like each other very much after this campaign for the nomination. He needs to pick some one with similar ideas and who he can actually work with to make CHANGE. Sure I would’ve love to see Hillary become president but not vice president. Maybe in the next election she can try running again but becoming VP is a bad idea. CHOOSE JOHN EDWARDS! HE WILL REALLY HELP HIM TAKE DOWN THE REPUBLICANS COMING NOVEMBER.
JOHN EDWARDS FOR VICE PRESIDENT AND NO ONE ELSE!!

Posted by: Daisy | June 4, 2008, 5:01 pm 5:01 pm

No!!! Although her name might serve well on a ticket, her presence in the White House would prove to be a problem. I beleive Obama would experience the worse 4 years of his life. The Clintons would require daily reminding that it wasn’t a two for one and that neither of them were president. The Clinton’s are a poltical machine, willing to say and do anything to get in the Whitehouse again. She has clearly demonstrated that she is a person without integrity. Her speech last night sounded as if she would keep her 18 million votes if she didn’t get what she is entitled to. Keep her off the ticket. He owes her nothing other than respect, she is not entitled to anything (none of us are).

Posted by: Beverly | June 4, 2008, 5:37 pm 5:37 pm

Good point Beverly.
If Obama would choose Hillary as VP to get support from Hillary’s supporters, then after they win, Hillary will continue to remind Obama on a daily basis that “Obama would never of won without her and Obama owes Hillary.”
Obama can win on his own.

Obama has a platform of change. Selecting HC as running mate would be a contradiction to Obama’s message that got him where he is today. It is absolutely not in the best interest of US to have HC as running mate to Obama. For some reason I am reminded of LBJ as VP….
I am thrilled to be able to cast my vote FOR someone this year! If HC is on the ticket, my vote will be against the same old Donkeys and Elephants.

Hillary is intelligent, and should hold a position somewhere in the cabinet – I don’t quite know where, but I am sure she has her eyes on something. Bill should also step back and allow her her time in the political world without his comments, etc. Barack should be free to select the VP of his choice. If it is Hillary, I will still vote Democrat because He is going to bring definite change to America. It is amazing how many people are acting very immature with their comments about him, without giving him a chance. He is brilliant, and represents an individual that is going to be a great role model for our youth and young adults. They are the future, and we have to remember, the old politics and old poli-heads aren’t poised to bring anything new to help our United States remain the leader in technology, innovation, growth, dollar strength, etc. We need OBAMA!

Posted by: Linda | June 4, 2008, 6:51 pm 6:51 pm

Yes, I think Obama should ask Hillary to be his V.P. it would be the presidential thing to do since she has worked so hard and come so far, 17 million in the popular vote is about they both got. I think with her experience she would be a great VP, not to mention I don’t know if he could beat McCain on his own and it would be a sure deal with her on the ticket.

A few months ago, I participated in a panel of Democratic women gathered to assess the Obama/Clinton debate at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. It would have been 50/50 for each candidate if I hadn’t been undecided (I’d been for Edwards who dropped out right before this debate.)
After the debate, we were asked, among other things, if we would like to see the two candidates on the same ticket? Every single person said yes. I inquired if this question was being asked everywhere along the campaign trail. The answer was that the question was being asked everywhere – and everywhere, the answer was the same as ours.
I’m deeply disappointed to read here the number of comments that seem to only reflect the projections of the commentators. People are making a helluva lot of assumptions about her – some of which are almost libelous! This sort of negativity is counterproductively divisive – something anathema to Obama. I wasn’t for Hillary but she’s a highly intelligent, seemingly compassionate person who’d make a fine VP. Use some common sense people and try and realize that Clinton and Obama are, in truth, very close on most issues. Now, if they could only put aside their egos for the sake of the country, we’d all be better off.
Should Clinton be Obama’s VP? I think it would be an unbeatable ticket. If not her, then it should be John Edwards.

Mcain,Hillary and Obama are great leaders of present time. But only one can be the next president of USA. Unfortunately Hillary was forced out by democratic party which has some difficulties to settle the votes of Florida and Michigan faily to Hillary.
A true leader must be humble enough and has the capacity to invite another strong leader to work with him to make a better U S of America. There must be many reasons that a leader as Hillary has so many supporters and followers.
Every voter has his or her believes and needs and to whom they can relate better.
I do believe that whoever choose Hillary as VP running mate, who will be the next president of USA.
Obama has the advantage to do that. If Obama is a true leader than Obama should pick Hillary as VP, If this does happen. Dr. King’s dream will come true for sure. And the luke and life of American people will be changed to better from this day on.
My question is “can Obama take the blame as a destroyer of Dr. King’s dream?”.

To all of the intelligent people trying to talk sense and unity to the “hate mongers, people who think they know Hilary and Barack, racists, male cheavanists, judgemental jerks (have I covered them all?), you are never going to get through to them. They are too clouded, too jaded. You can’t talk intelligently to people who fail to educate themselves with truths instead of hearsays, lies and judgements. They’re too ignorant to see that both of these candidates are more alike than not. I voted for Hilary. I will vote for Barack no matter who he picks for his VP. I would love to see Hilary because she busted her butt and deserves some place of importance. John Edwards would also make a great VP. I would have loved to have seen a combination of any of these 3 people. As for the people putting Hilary down for not conceeding last night, you don’t have a clue of what it’s like to take a risk in life and to be a fighter who doesn’t quit. If you knew, you wouldn’t be judging her. And for all of the women who are judging Hilary, as a woman I am really disapointed in you all. Hilary is from the same stock of women who fought for our rights and freedoms as women against oppressing men. Hilary has gone through a lot of crap in her life both personal and professional. Give her a break and quit assuming that you know her heart and know what she thinks. I’d like to see any of you run for office, pour your life, your hearts and souls into it and see what you’d do when you came so close to winning but lost. Power hungry? BS…no more than any man who has ever run for office.

Posted by: deb | June 4, 2008, 10:34 pm 10:34 pm

Well, honestly, I wanted someone with more experience entering, but looks like we have to settle with someone with less experience on certain issues, with that said, Obama needs to pick someone that can assist him in those issues that he lacks in expertise. There is too much bad blood with Hillary, Edwards I think is strong in those categories and would be the next best in line to assist Obama with those those swing states and rural/working class white America. The real question is which vp candidate can pull the difference of votes that Obama lacked to connect with? McCain is liberal on key issues that will attract Clinton votes and Obama needs to connect with Latinos on this next campaign, otherwise they will slide to McCain due to his immigration stance and record for assisting them in crucial states with the Latin vote. Hillary was the best candidate to win it all based on experience and winning the populated and swing states, now it WILL BE A CHALLENGE for dems to pull this off. Maybe Bill Richardson even since he served under Pres. Clinton and has knowledge home and abroad and could also connect with the Latin vote. However, its going to be harder than easier with who we have for the Dem Presidential nominee.

I think Hillary should run on her own ticket. If Barack choose her as a running mate after the smear job her campain did to him, she will do things behind his back, following her husband’s advice. It will be a very bad ideal for Barack to do that.

Now let me first say that I have no problem voting for a female as long as she are the best candidate for the position. Just because I was born without certain parts doesn’t make me a chauvinists. I just do not like hypocritical people.
To: CROSSFIRE | Jun 4, 2008 9:51:58 PM
“To all of the intelligent people trying to talk sense and unity to the “hate mongers, people who think they know Hilary and Barack, racists, male cheavanists,” – I’ll stop right there.
Does this author say anything about ”female chauvinists”?
Why is it always “women against oppressing men”? One can tell, she has never been married to a woman. The whole Hillary campaign was about electing a female as President. Who are the majority of Hillary supporters – female, that’s who. Had Hillary been a male, these women would never of supported Hillary and everyone knows it. This is the most sexist campaign ever. These women who ganged together and supported another female still want their way even after they LOST – acting like typical females and bashing males.
The next thing is going to happen is Hillary is going to get on TV and start shedding a few tears, then Obama is going to start “Feeling sorry for the poor female and give her the VP position.
Now if Obama does not give in and give Hillary the VP position, the these Hillary’s supporters are going to McCain (or their mother, I forget which).
“it’s like to take a risk in life and to be a fighter who doesn’t quit.” I guess Hillary is the first person in history who took a risk in life and was a fighter who didn’t quit. I’d like to see Hillary put her experience of this up against McCain’s experience.
“I would love to see Hilary because she busted her butt and deserves some place of importance”. So, now the author is trying to say that no other candidate has ever busted their butt to get elected or is she trying to say that any candidate who busted their butt should win no matter who won the election.
“And for all of the women who are judging Hilary, as a woman I am really disapointed in you all”. Why is this author disappointed in these women, just because they voted for who they thought would be the best president verses voting for Hillary just because she is a female. Does she expect all females to have an empty head and just vote for someone because of their sex.
“Hilary has gone through a lot of crap in her life both personal and professional.” Now here’s the “Pitty Party”. The Author wants us to now feel sorry for Hillary. I guess the readers and I have never had to put up with a lot of crap in our life both personal and professional – get real.
Now, I’m sure the author left out the fact that should Obama not feel sorry for this poor oppressed Hillary, then Obama isn’t a man and has small anatomy parts.
Why is it that Hillary and her sexist females supporters who demand that Hillary be respected equally now act like typical females who didn’t get their way.
Hillary has accomplished on thing, she has shown that she is a poor example of women in our society who want to or have been successful in life.
Would Opra act this way? Heck no!
Would any of my many past female bosses (who I respected)acted this way, Heck
No!

I am floored that this black, wirey, junk yard dog racist, can go from belonging to and living and breathing this white hatred, racist, anti-American relationship for 20yrs. with Jeremiah Wright to being baptized a red blooded all American!!!!
Hillary keeps winning these states by huge number leads and the Super delegates keep throwing votes his way to help him win. I am thoroughly disgusted with this party and the DNC. I don’t care how much they talk about UNITY, I will never vote for either of them or for a Democrat ever again.

Before I get attack by the poor oppressed sexist feminists whom every one feels so sorry for, let me add:
The reason why Hillary lost was not because of what gender she is, it was because of her PERSONALITY.
It doesn’t matter what you know and how much experience you have, if the person doing the hiring doesn’t like the applicant’s personality, then they don’t get the job. This is a fact of life.
Now I know that the poor oppressed sexist feminists will go to their grave blaming everything on men. My ex stated it was men’s fault that she had her periods. Men are the worst creatures on this earth. There is no such thing as a good male. . .
Hillary simply lost because of her PERSONALITY, so get over it and take it like a man.

Posted by: Brenda L Chasse` | June 5, 2008, 12:12 am 12:12 am

Absolutely not. Obama should stand up undaunted by Clinton’s slimy politicking. All she is doing now is guaranteeing that the nominee for the Democrats cannot win in November (or at least without her). Even if he loses, he should never be bound by this assertion that he cannot win without Hillary. That is ridiculous. He has had more trash thrown at him than Hillary could imagine (from his middle name, to his church). On the other hand, everyone has been lightly treading around her gender, while she has always sought to throw it in the faces of an ever sensitive populace. While Obama could never emphasize his struggles as a black man, she and her husband can complain about her struggles as a woman. If she does not want to be treated like a woman, as an equal- then she needs to toughen up and accept defeat. She fought hard, but now she needs to let Obama enjoy his victory, it was well earned. A loser cannot be allowed to be a power broker.

Obama should have his head examined if he picks Hillary as his VP running mate. He would be asking for only trouble as he would get 2 for 1 as rotten Bill would come along too. He would be looking over Obama’s shoulder. If Obama truly stands for CHANGE then he does not need Hillary as # 2. She is tired old Clinton politics. Look for someone else

First, I am a registered Democrat, and have voted for a Democrat for President since I have been 18 years old.
Second, I have supported Hillary Clinton throughout the primaries. I believe that if she is Vice President under Barrack Obama it would be a waste of her potential, however it may unite the party.
Third, Barrack Obama does not have what it takes to beat John McCain in November 2008. Not without the support of the whole democratic party and the supporters of Hillary Clinton. Edwards won one state, the voters must really love him, and where did he take the other presidential candidates he ran with? Oh right, nowhere.
Fourth, If Hillary Clinton is not on the ticket for Vice President, I will switch my ticket and vote for McCain, at least he knows how to make important decisions, instead of Barrack Obama’s history of voting present on important issues as Senator of Illinois.
Fifth, Let’s see what happens. Obviously we can’t predict the future.

“Beam me up, Scotty; I need to get as far away from this planet as I can”…..all seriousness aside, in over thirty years of voting I have never felt so betrayed by my party. I have spent the months of this primary season aghast at the way the Democrats were running it. I have never felt so voiceless. I don’t really care who is chosen for VP, I think I’ll pull an “Obama” and sit this vote out!

Posted by: Jeanne | June 5, 2008, 12:24 am 12:24 am

Hilary should not be the Vice Presidential candidate, but she should be somehow involved in his campaign and in his possible presidency. She has done too much damage and has said some grimy things over the past few months, so her being Obama’s VP is out of the question. But, she is a brilliant person who brings a lot of knowledge to the table at many different levels. She also brings a lot of support. Barack Obama is an intelligent person who has surrounded himself with even smarter people. They can find some way to make sure that she is taken care of. Whether she is one of his advisers or she is given a position on his cabinet, she should be utilized.
At 22 years old and a recent college graduate, I find myself young and do not claim to possess ultimate knowledge, but I do know that many times we must separate personal feelings from business decisions.
GO IRISH!

This is Hillary’s campaign let her run it to the end. I don’t see how we as a so called democracy can allow our presidency to be bought.
we no longer have a free country or a press that knows what the word journalism stands for.
with Hillary out I a 40 year democrat will be voting for McCain . If we are going to down the toilet-lets do it big time.

Would Hillary picked Obama if she had won? No way, yet she and her husband and a so called friend of a 30+ years who is starting a petition to draft her are putting her name in for VP.
Come on! Enough of them.
These Clintons think they are entitled to White House when ever they want.
No morals whats so ever.
all those last day 300-400 pardons, incompetance when first time WTC was attacked?
Remember Monica, Jenifer, Paula Jones and Juanita; Hillary said it never happened! Media never talekd about that topic and her real character? She lied about Bosnia but blamed it on “issuficient” sleep (what was Chelsie’s excuse because she backed her lies too) She for Nafta as well as for war in Iraq, did not do a thing about the health care yet she sells like she has any foreign experiance.
O yea what happend with the furniture they took from White House on the last day and the piano?
There are still 299,999,999 Americans, more then half are woman and I would vote for anybody else except those three.
Time for real Change.

Please try to remember that Obama is the PRESUMPTIVE nominee, not the actual nominee, not yet anyway. I have to agree with many others out there in that the only way Mr. Barack Hussein Obama would ever get my vote is if Hillary is his vice-presidential choice. On the other hand, if he doesn’t, I don’t think he’ll win the primary. Then maybe the Democratic leaders will realize they made a huge mistake and Hillary can sail into the White House in 2012.

What a shame that you could not withhold your criticism during tonight’s Nightline for a U.S. Senator who waged a tough campaign, brought issues to the forefront and discussed meaningful resolutions. Five years from now will it really matter that she took four days to rest, relax a little and prepare to endorse Obama? Did you actually think it was entertainment to come up with the “Bottom Ten?” Just cannot watch your show again. Shame on you Nightline.

Hey BuckSCC:
I’ve read all of your posts and I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt dude but I can’t deny it any longer…it is so blatantly obvious from all that you wrote in response to my posting that you are a woman hating cheavanist!
To address your comments on my previous post:
Why is it always “women against oppressing men”?
Well, uh BUCK!…that’s probably because men have been the opressors of women and not the other way around. Since you seem to know so much, maybe you can tell me how you know that the “majority of Hilary supporters are women?” Hmm, according to you that would say a lot for men, doesn’t it? Why are the majority women? I happen to know many men who voted for Hilary. I’ll admit that there is a part of me that wants a woman for president…that’s a real change. But there is much more to it than that.
“I guess Hillary is the first person in history who took a risk in life and was a fighter who didn’t quit.”
Uh..no…Hilary is not the first person in life to take a risk or who is a fighter who doesn’t quit. I was clear about why I said that and don’t feel that I need to elaborate any further.
“So, now the author is trying to say that no other candidate has ever busted their butt to get elected or is she trying to say that any candidate who busted their butt should win no matter who won the election.”
No…Buck…don’t be a sphincter. I am not talking about candidates in any other race. I am talking about this race. Everyone busts their butt when campaigning. I meant because this was such a close race, and Barack didn’t win by a large margin that it would be nice if Hilary was given a good position in the party if not the VP. You failed to mention that I said I liked Barack and I also like Edwards and that a combo of any of the 3 would be great. Don’t be a dipwad, Buck. (By the way, some female cheavanist I am, huh? Supporting Barack as well as Edwards as a team, if not Hilary in there.)
“Now here’s the “Pitty Party”. The Author wants us to now feel sorry for Hillary. I guess the readers and I have never had to put up with a lot of crap in our life both personal and professional – get real.”
OK…I am really starting to view your comments as quite annoying now, Buck.
First of all, I made that comment because I was referring to her strength and how she stood by Bill through all of the Monica scandal. There are way too many people out there who would walk away from their spouse for a lot less. She really earned my respect through that. Plus I was referring to all of the bashing she has received from people on these blogs and elsewhere because she is a woman and there are so many jerks out there who do not want a woman for president, nor a black man for that matter.
“Why is it that Hillary and her sexist females supporters who demand that Hillary be respected equally now act like typical females who didn’t get their way.”
Your words say it all, Buck…you hate women. That whole post was nothing but a bunch of woman hating, fight words on your part. I have seen you post many times in this blog. You are someone who just likes to fight. I actually cracked up when I read your comments because they were just too rediculously funny.
Maybe you should write a book since you think you know the female mind so well ie: “Would Opra act this way? Heck no!
Would any of my many past female bosses (who I respected)acted this way, Heck
No!”
“Hillary has accomplished on thing, she has shown that she is a poor example of women in our society who want to or have been successful in life.”
Yeah, in what ways, Buck?
LMAO

By the way….when was the precedent set that the Convention should be decided BEFORE it took place? Why does anyone have to concede? Why can’t the fight be taken to the convention? And where do the Democrats get off allowing “superdelegates” to have a bigger voice than the electorate? Do they realize that Hillary would be leading Barack in delegates if they had been tabulated the way the Republicans do? She won all the big electoral states, with the exception of Barack’s home state…I mean adopted state.

Mr.Obama hopefully knows his history Kennedy chose Johnson so he could take the South and Texas. Mr.Obama is smart and he likes Clinton more than Kennedy liked Johnson so if Mr.Obama wants to win he’ll go with Ms.Clinton. The media and the DNC has made him the choice and they may have done him a great disservice. I wish him great judgement (sometimes he doesn’t show it when he is off script). He can communicate and inspire so he is halfway there.

I respect conventional political wisdom. Often but not always it is correct.
She was his toughest opponent in the primary. She was the favorite to win before any votes were cast. There is a lot of wisdom in the gesture of reaching out to your strongest opponent and your strongest opponent’s supporters.
But, having said that, I firmly believe in this case that it would be a monumental mistake. Why?
1) By inextricably tying himself to one of America’s remaining political dynasties, he will compromise his compelling message of change. This was what drew me to him in the first place.
2) He will most certainly become the smallest ring in a 3 ring media/political circus, even though he is the one running for the top job. The top ring in the circus would be occupied by Bill Clinton. The 2nd ring would be occupied by her. How can Obama make a compelling case for himself and his leadership when he is suddenly not even the headlining act on his own campaign??
3) You can be sure that both Clintons will say whatever they want on the campaign trail; with half-hearted apologies issued later, if absolutely necessary. They will inflame, polarize, and infuriate in contrast with Obama’s message of magnanimity, honest discourse, and hope for something better.
4) She would be doing the Veep thing with an eye toward ’012 if Obama should lose (bummer if he does).
Once again, it would be a disaster for Obama to pick her.
Instead, pick a Clinton loyalist. Pick a white woman. Pick a white man from the South. But, first and foremost, pick someone who would be ready to assume the job from “Day One” but who has integrity (gosh, I guess that leaves her out).
We are the change that we want to see.

If Obama truly wants to unite the Democrats and win the Presidency, he will pick Hillary. Did he really mean what he said in his speech Tuesday night in St. Paul?? If he believes that, Hillary Clinton will be his choice.

Posted by: Sheryl | June 5, 2008, 12:41 am 12:41 am

As a strong Hillary supporter I say NO, absolutely not! Senator McCain however would be wise to chose Hillary as his VP… That’s the real dream ticket!

Posted by: LG, Pottstown, PA | June 5, 2008, 12:44 am 12:44 am

I think HIllary should run as an independent. After all, she got more votes than Obama or McCain.
Why be a VP, when she can be President.
Obama is nothing but a loud mouth. Obama has so much baggage, he will never beat McCain, with or without Hillary.

Posted by: Susan | June 5, 2008, 12:51 am 12:51 am

HILLARY a “heartbeat away from the presidency”??? Do you think she or Bill could resist THAT?????
Beloved Barack would soon be gone — and the Clintons would rule the White House once more.
Hillary’s egotistical obstructionism has been a monumental SHAME! All that money and all that human expenditure for nothing! Which has been OBVIOUS TO ALL for months and months — and yet she shoved on like a Mad Cow, disturbing the nation and demoralizing the process.
Instead of the vice-presidency, she ought to be offered a strait-jacket! I am painfully reminded of having to get a restraining order against my sister!
PLEASE — DO NOT ALLOW HAPLESS HILLARY AND HER CORRUPT CONSORT ANYWHERE N E A R BARACK OBAMA! They are not only toxic but dangerous.
Whereas Barack, honestly, is the hope of all the Earth.

It sounds like a great idea in theory. The problem is that the Clintons are trying to force their way as vp. Not in the best of taste. In addition, Hillary made those JFK remarks that implied she wishes the worst for Obama. And she never acknowledged her misjudgment in seeming to wish ill will for her opponent. If something happens to Obama, this country will remember and never forgive her. She is very smart and very determined, but I don’t think she can admit her mistakes easily and she represents the opposite of Obama’s change platform. One does not upstage or jam the guy in 1st place if you want to be his vp. Besides Bill will be a big distraction that no one can control.I would like to see Hillary as head of Health, Ed. & Welfare.

Posted by: Barb. | June 5, 2008, 12:57 am 12:57 am

Hilary is acting like a stubborn, resiliant and self centered individual. Her speech last night led me to believe that she was in this race for herself and her fame. In the game of life, there is a winner and there is a looser. The looser is what she is right now, and she needs to accept it and back off. I truly question her leadership ability because, too many times during this race, she had allowed emotions to make choices and decisions she would not have originally made had she been thinking like a real leader. I think God for strong women leaders out there, who do not let their emotions drive them to make wrong choices and bad decision in time of desperation. It would absolutely be “an absolute catastrophy” for her to be even considered as a VP in this race. She has already lost the credibility by the way she acted last night. This time “shame on you, Hilary Clinton!” You need counseling.

Posted by: Gladys | June 5, 2008, 1:09 am 1:09 am

YES YES YES
Let us not forget Obama just BARELY won.
It would be in his best interest not to alienate those that voted for Hillary.
She deserves it and has worked hard for at minimum the VP spot.
On a different note (that I have heard people say) that is in reference to Bill Clinton and the “drama” he would bring if by Hillary’s side. Let us not forget we would not have had a 911 if we supported Bill’s attempt to stop Osama bin Laden many years ago. It is so sad that so many people forget all the good Bill did for this country and Hillary would have done just as good a job. But no sooo many focus on the fact he is a ham that likes women too much!! It sickens me.
Also KUDOS G KONG!!!

He won his first election by having all of his opponents disqualified. He deliberately misled his audiences with an image of his mother as an unwed teenager when he was born and all the connotations that conjured in his listeners’ minds. He seriously expected the nation to believe he did not know the true feelings of his mentor, friend, and father figure over a 20 year period. In his “landmark” speech on racism, he characterized it as “white” (do you think the problem will be solved by seeing it only in one color?). His rhetoric is good, but rhetoric is not action! His actions have exhibited none of this integrity I keep hearing about!

Then why would BuckSCC:
* Write a post that supports OPRAH as VP.
* Support Shirley Chisholm in 1972?
* Support the Equal Rights Amendment?
* State, “Now let me first say that I have no problem voting for a female
as long as she is the best candidate for the position. Just because I was born without certain parts doesn’t make me a chauvinists. “
BuckSCC would support any woman as VP on the Obama ticket except Hillary.
BuckSCC opinion is based on Hillary’s personality, which he does not like.
BuckSCC does not base his opinion of who he vote for because of gender or race.

If Obama picked HRC for VP, it would undermine his campaigns consistency with the ‘no lobbyist money’ moral issue. Not to mention many others – especially the ‘we’re breaking with the ‘old’ politics image. I think his camp is much more likely to pick someone who is more aligned with his mostly post-partisan perspective.
p.s. By the way… NightLine.. The piece on the ’10 worst VP picks for Obama’, is my first pick for my list of worst NightLine moments ever. What a tacky piece of journalism. I thought I was watching TMZ. How embarrassing.

I’m very upset with Jake Tapper’s 10 worst list of VP choices for Obama. From an interview I heard Tapper give on the radio to some things I’ve read, it’s quite apparent he thinks Obama is a joke. So why not list the top worst people and things linked to Obama these past 6 months all in a row, in a tidy stupid segment that only pointed up the worst things associated with Obama?! Shame on you, Nightline, for letting this go to air.

Oh.. also.
There is virtually no policy difference between Obama and Clinton except for what I mentioned above..
So those of you ‘supposed democrats’ who are pledging McCain support.. you’re passion is misplaced. If you truly have your nations best interests at heart, you’ll support Barack. If not, well you were Republicans all along as far as I’m concerned.

HILARY CLINTON IS A SORE LOSER! Barack’s victory represents the end of “business as usual” in Washington and the old style politician Hilary Clinton can’t give up because things have to remain status quo, the big corporations and big money must maintain influence as they did in the last 20-years or so. She can’t accept that those times are really over now. It’s time that old style politicians like Hilary Clinton and all her big corporate friends realize the lights are out and the party’s over! Her for Vice President? NO WAY! Pick John Edwards please!

No I don’t think Hillary should be brought on as VP and I think that Obama should have the priviledge all candidates have and it should be his choice without strong arm. Hillary should be ashamed of herself for doing what she has been doing. It was a fair fight and he won. Go home and lick your wounds. And support your party like you should without innuendos about being VP. Classless and unprofessional. At least have the class to step down with dignity. Something we haven ‘t seen yet. Oh Nightline I agree with the others about the 10 worst. Pretty tacky. Had David Letterman written all over it.

No. Even if obama offer her, Hillary should not accept to be his vice president. Because if she accept, then People who don’t like obama then may go vote for him. Hillary should be smarter than that to accept this offer to help obama who got this nomination by getting money from opera and lie to people. Hillary should leave him alon. I bet you he will be a LOSER.

As a minority female, I find it amazing that so many white people are voting for Obama – do you think your white guilt over slavery will let you off the hook that way? Why do you think so many BLACK people are voting for him? Not because they believe he’s going to help whites!! Michelle Obama’s closing statements in her Princeton thesis made that pretty clear – she PREFERS separatism. So if you all don’t mind that he’s going to help his folks first, then kudos to you, someone should! But if you feel that that is not a good position for the head of a nation to take, well, it’s too late now! I am not white, or black, but I think it’s about time someone took note of me, and the rest of us that the fascist faux Dems have tried to push around – and the fact that OBAMA plans to push a bill that will put my people in the same position that Native Americans are in. No one wants to know about that; mending race relations drips too easily off people’s lips, especially whites, unless they actually have to do anything about it. But that is why I will NEVER, EVER, EVER vote for that race traitor.

How slanted but par for the course in presenting blacks in the media. This station has the only news reports at night and are the most racist. Jake Tapper is a prime example of the “white collar by day and white hood by night” individual that is a so-called journalist along with all the commentators on Nightline. Be very careful because your true racist nature is revealed in your commentating.
God bless Obama because nothing but a God has helped him and kept him from you snakes and vipers in the media.

We don’t need a muslem president. This is the guy who registered himself as a moslem when he was attending to school both in Indonisia & kenia. give me a brake. I can not believe!! what is happening to America. somebody like obama with that boolshit file, even not real american coming & want to be the president. Oh Dear!!! Hillary stay a way from him. Obama is a smart, diligent and sincere patriot. He can and will motivate the people of our country to work to change what needs to change. I lost respect for Hillary when she allowed her followers to create such a negative mood in this campaign. It spoiled whatever good she could have done for our country. In my book she’s dishonored our Democratic Party and democratic standards by refusing to accept the delegate count. Were we to think that just because she said so, we should all just disregard the delegates? I can’t even find where she gets off saying she had the majority of the popular vote because she didn’t count the caucuses. She could have rallied support for the party this past week, knowing what we all knew.
She had huge supporters when she started out. Who does she blame for so many of her supporters leaving her and switching their support to Barack? Why didn’t they stay with her? It was because the people found him to a better leader than she. We learned to respect him. I am an older white woman would wants Hillary Clinton to go back to the Senate and Barack Obama to be our president. I trust that he will pick another great American to run as his VP.

Or…nominate her for Justice of the Supreme Court ?

As comedian Chris Rock, a BLACK man said,”The only people who don’t like white women are OTHER white women. You ladies have a viable candidate, what’s WRONG with you bitches?” It seems he was right.

You talk of change yet you talk should Hillary be choosen as VP???? NO!!!!
If change is to take place you can not do this with the old school thinking.
Take Hillary you take Bill. I for one have had enough of either. Hillary in a news spot downed a shot, beer like a good old boy. Great thing for the young new generation coming of age.
Barack the word Matriarch should explain who runs what in this country.
Mr President Barack Obama pick wisely, you may need Hillary support but you don’t need her covering your back.

Obama is an untested junior(very junior) senator, Hillary is a tested and eperienced senator.
I cannot envision Hillary the teacher taking second place to Obama the student. If elected , his term will be “on the job training” and she would be the teacher. Why in the world should she do this. If all of us who supported Hillary whould organize a write in campaign , she would be the next President.

Posted by: anita | June 5, 2008, 5:02 am 5:02 am

No, no, no! Please, Mr. Obama, do not ask Hillary to be the VP. You are in charge now. You don’t need the Clintons. They would try to take all the glory and run everything. It will be an Obama administration. Don’t make it an Obama-Clinton(s) administration. Their era has passed. It’s a new day.

Posted by: June | June 5, 2008, 5:31 am 5:31 am

Yes, he should pick her – and here’s why. Obama will never be able to “change” anything in the next 4 years – even his advisors have said so, on the BBC. Anyone he picks will be tainted along with him, when he eventually pisses off the whites, and/or the blacks. That will make both of those conniving POLITICIANS ineligible to run in 2012, when we can have REAL CHANGE with Kucinich, Nader, or even Paul!

Posted by: S.Nelson | June 5, 2008, 5:48 am 5:48 am

Absolutely not! If she were wanted to be in the office, she would have been chosen. Let alone she cannot play fairly with Obama, just look at the past comments. And besides it wouldn’t be Hillary, it would be Bill in the position. After all that is where a large portion of her supporters were, is behind Bill and Hillary was the connection.

ANOTHER GOOD REASON FOR HILLARY AS VP – Have you Dems all forgotten that there are a lot of folks who still want Nader and Kucinich? I personally know several who will write-in their names, and some who won’t bother to vote at all, because they hate all the candidates. If you Dems are too stupid to realize that you need Hillary’s voting base, then you deserve what you’ll get – McCain.

Why would he want the Clinton’s baggage, why would we he want to give her the spotlight to possibly alienate more voters?

God, NOOOOOOO!

Hillary would be an effective Secretary of Education;she has told us repeatedly that she has dedicated her life to helping children. As did Lincoln before him, Obama should use former opponents in his Cabinet. But Hillary -and Bill-should not be Vice Presidents.

I don’t know who Obama will choose but I’m sure that he is smart enough to make the right choice.
If he put God first, the rest will fall in place!
Go Obama!!!

The first “change” that needs to be made is to give the power back to the people by getting rid of the delegates and electoral college. Since they are supposed to represent the voters but actually don’t seem to in recent elections, why do we even bother to vote? The select few seem to make the choice no matter what the popular vote is and all they do is follow the money. Then throw the media in the mix, and we don’t have a chance. We need to go back to the way our founding fathers elected candidates. The president was decided by popular vote and the runner-up was vice president.
Secondly, why did the states of Florida and Michigan have the right to move the date of their primaries while being aware of the consequences without the knowledge of the voters in those states? Why did those voters bother going to the polls if they knew the votes wouldn’t count? It does not make sense at all.
Back to Obama-he is not the only candidate who proposes change; Hillary and John Edward are also proponents of change. The difference is they want change for the less fortunate. In one debate Obama referred to (several times)about “middle class Americans earning between 200 to 250K”… Where is this middle class America because I want to move there? Based on statistics I read recently the average American earns between 60 to 70K. Here in NH the average is probably half of the 70K. Until that debate I was undecided but at that point I realized he is just another arrogant, rich jerk (albeit “nouveau” in his case who seems to have forgotten his humble beginnings even though he talked about it often enough) like the one currently in the White House. Just what we DO NOT NEED. I think Hillary would be able to implement changes for the people who really need it. I don’t think Obama has a clue or even cares. He also doesn’t have the experience in too many areas of politics to be effective. Being endorsed by Oprah Winfrey and other influential rich people has brought him to where he is now, not his abilities. No one had even heard of him until he was on Oprah’s show.
So in response to the question, I don’t think he has a chance in hell of beating McCain if Hillary isn’t his running mate because he doesn’t know what he is doing. Food for thought-wouldn’t it be ironic if that is how the Republicans manipulated it so the Democratic vote would be so evenly split?

NOT Hillary!
Former presidential candidate (2004) Gen. Wesley Clark.
Might have Hillary fill the next Supreme Court vacancy.

UNITY = WIN + WIN
18,000,000 + 18,000,000
superdelegates, elected officials and other party leaders who can vote for whomever they choose at the Democratic convention CAN CHANGE THEIR MINDS, that’s why President Kennedy pushed until the DNC, and not dropped out under any pressures….

No, Senator Obama should not pick Senator Clinton for his VP. She is NOT TO BE TRUSTED. I liked her in the beginning and in my household, and as a young woman, Senator Clinton had my vote (my husband was for Senator Obama). I thought that if a woman was going to run for President, she would be the one because of her personality, the experience she brings and because of her husband. I was hoping that she would not belittle herself and play the dirty politics as we usually see, but she did. As a matter-of-fact, she started it and the more she did, the uglier she became in my sight. Even on the night that she could have rekindled some of herself by allowing Senator Obama have the spotlight — if not because of him being the nominee, at least for him having made a mark in America history, the country that she says she loves — she failed again miserably. Her speech was still about her even though HE had won the nominee! I thought that was so SELFISH of her!!! Senator Clinton has really disappointed me over these past months. I have lost all respect and confidence in her and as far as I’m concerned, he should NOT trust her enough to put her on his ticket for Vice President. On the other hand, Senator Obama GAINED my respect because of the way he conducted himself, in spite of everything she/her campaign threw at him over these past months.

Senator Obama as wise as you are whatever you do, just do not get Hillary as your Vice President or anything in you team/cabinet.

Posted by: Guy | June 5, 2008, 6:04 pm 6:04 pm

If Obama decides he HAS to offer it to her to secure the presidency, it should be if and only if she first publicly (and persuasively) rescinds her earlier statement that Obama was not qualified to be president.

Posted by: Rob | June 5, 2008, 6:23 pm 6:23 pm

Rob
Why should she rescind a true statement. What qualifies him? He has no real experience in politics. See my previous statements.

Posted by: Gale | June 5, 2008, 7:02 pm 7:02 pm

yes, But I’m not voting, since the voters in Florida and Michigan did not have there vote counted for who they voted for.
No one in my family is going to vote. Since the DNC ruling on Saturday( I watched it all day ) I decided not to vote. DNC has really disappointed me. I may never vote again.

Hillary would make a great Senate Majority Leader! And, we would not lose another democratic senator, something we could ill afford to do.-Gov. Bill Richardson is my choice for VP. Sen. Obama’s father was Kenyan, and Richardson’s mother is Mexican! He is bi-lingual, very important to help attract Spanish speaking voters.-R. has served 7 terms in the U.S. Congress. He is a 2-term Governor of New Mexico. He is an experienced diplomat, having secured the release of hostages. He has created 90.000 high paying jobs and balanced his state’s budget. He has been nominated 4 times for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his high-stakes crisis negotiations.Bill R. does not brag with his accomplishments. He would make a fabulous Vice President!

I JUST WANTED TO SAY KNOW HE SHOULDNT HAVE HER FOR VICE PRESIDENT.

I do not think Obama should pick Clinton to be his running mate. I feel like a lot of Obama’s supports have very strong feeling against Clinton.
Edwards would be a great running mate!
Can anyone really disagree with an Obama/Edwards ticket???

No, Obama should not pick Hillary for his V.P. running mate, for Hillary is a snake, not only will she split the party, but the country.

This is to Mildred above regarding the primaries in Florida and Michigan. I’m not sure which state you live in, but did the voters in your state know the votes would not count? Was the decision to change the primary date made solely by your local legislators or were the residents allowed to vote on the issue? I’d be really interested to find out who initiated the change and what the purpose was. Why was this situation allowed to happen? If I lived in one of these states I would be very angry that my right to vote was taken away.

Posted by: Gale | June 6, 2008, 1:31 am 1:31 am

When are you people going to show the news again? You are turning into an editorial program and not a news program. I am sure there is something happening in Afganistan or Iraq or Pakistan. And now there is no news program on TV. Just rehashing the primaries for months on end. How about some news???

Soooo, my bumper sticker is good for another 5 months !
These are the linds of situations a President will be expected to handle on his own, or with his chosen people. I trust Barak to decide wisely, and won’t try to second guess his choice.
The rethuglican candidate is NOT an option, so with or without Clinton on the Obama team, he’ll get my proud vote.

Obama needs to pick someone with a military background like Wes Clark or Jim Webb for VP. I’d like to see John Edwards as Attorney General and Hillary Clinton as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Posted by: Knewsie | June 7, 2008, 1:06 am 1:06 am

I’ve changed my mind about wanting Hillary as Vice-President, after reading many vitriolic comments above and also seeing footage of Bobby Kennedy’s assassination. If she were Vice-President and something happened to Obama, there would be an outburst of Clinton-hating conspiracy nuts like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Better to have her as a Cabinet member, preferably for health and human services, as Knewsie has said. I also agree on John Edwards for Attorney-General.
