Biden Warns: ‘We’re Gonna Give ‘Em the Devil’
ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe reports: No sooner had he arrived in Denver for the Democratic convention, Sen. Barack Obama’s, D-Ill., vice-presidential pick, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., threw down a stern warning to Sen. John McCain’s, R-Ariz., presidential hopes.
"We’re gonna give ‘em the devil," Biden told supporters as he stopped for lunch at the Mile High City’s Bodey’s Smokehouse.
"That’s right, you give ‘em hell!" came the cry from a woman in the crowd of about 100 that quickly formed when they learned that the veep nominee would be coming to the downtown Writer Square BBQ spot for his midday meal.
Biden spent about five minutes shaking hands with the onlookers, who swarmed around him as soon as he arrived.
"I’m running with Obama," he said. "I’m running for Obama!" drawing cheers from the crowd.
Then the Delaware lawmaker headed over to the small Hickory Smoked Pit BBQ Express stand to order a handful of pulled pork sandwiches. "Keep five," he told the cashier as he gave a generous tip after paying for his food.
Dressed in a blue blazer and khakis on the hot late August day in Denver, Biden was accompanied by his wife Jill, son Beau, daughter Ashley, and brother Jim as they grabbed some grub.
Only hours before, Biden had touched down in Colorado after flying out this morning from his Wilmington home. Before leaving Delaware, he stopped off at the Amtrak station he uses every day to commute to Capitol Hill. There, he was given a warm welcome by home state supporters who sent him off for the start of a whirlwind few months on the campaign trail leading up to the November election.
On Monday night, Biden and his wife will attend Michelle Obama’s speech at the convention. Two nights later, on Wednesday, Obama’s running mate will take his turn at the mic and address his party as half of the ticket that Democrats hope will win the White House this fall.

That would make two ‘devils’. McCaint is already the devil for starting that UNPROVOKED Iraq bush war, and inciting and inflaming this latest war in the Caucus, when the other devil, Saakhasvili, pointed his big guns on INNOCENT Ossetians.

The “so-called” angry Hillary supporters are actually Republicans in disguise, trying to thrown a wrench in the works!
Let’s start treating them like the Repuke-licans they are!!! Let’s call a spade a spade, and hammer these idiots!
Democrats must unite or we are going to be “hood-winked” into another 4 or 8 years of the utter and complete failure the Republicans have brought on our country!

No there were just 30 murders in one weekend in Chicago and they were thinking of calling out the National Guard…but hey they are mostly kids…so that doesn’t count. Get it straight….if your are strong on crime then what did Barack Obama do all the time he has lived in Chicago to stop the crime or make it less…the crime in Chicago is the highest in the nation. He did nothing but talk.
Posted by: Mike | August 25, 2008, 2:45 pm 2:45 pm
Davis, probably a paid blogger with the message of the day doesn’t know what he’s talking about. If Obama really had won the majority of Dem support, then his number wouldn’t be tanking in a Democratic year. Angry Hillary supporters are just that – if you are a Democrat and not a paid blogger, then think back to your feelings about stolen elections, say, in 2000 GE. This election will come down to character, not specific issues. The presidency is entirely about character.

Kenny, which fresh ideas are you talking about? Rejecting campaign finance reform? Supporting FISA? Kowtowing to the large corporations that support him? Promoting the same timetable for getting out of Iraq as just about everyone else? He’s as big a phoney as any other politician and his ideas are as fresh as yesterday’s newspaper. He’s rudderless, and completely without principle. Obama wants to be the first African American president so badly that he’ll sell his soul to get elected.

2. Why try?
3. McCain can’t counter it.
4. He doesn’t have a porkchop’s chance in a piranha tank of becoming POTUS over OBAMA.

From UK Guardian

USA Today opinion poll today indicated the challenge Obama and Clinton face in uniting the party. Fewer than half of Clinton’s supporters — 47% — are fully behind Obama. Some 23% say they might change their minds before the election, and 30% say they will vote for McCain or stay home.

Sure some of the Hillary supporters will be the sour grapes types, but if you look at what’s happening in Denver right now, the PUMAs are getting bashed as “wackos” by *OUR* media (Chris Matthews).
If the Hillary supporters want to be sore losers, have at it. Obama’s going to beat McCain by +10 points once the Independents come out, and they more than make up for Hillary’s whining sore losers.

For context, the margin of victory in the 2004 GE was 3 million. This spring 18 million voted for Hillary, so even a fraction of them voting for McCain can give the GOP the victory this November — and they aren’t budging!
47% of Hillary’s supporters currently backing Obama (per USA Today) is the lowest figure I’ve seen. Pew had 52% recently iirc — and said Obama had made NO progress with this group all summer. All the polls seemed to be holding steady all summer, with at least 3 million Hil’s voting for McCain. In July Op Res had 9 million total Hil’s not supporting Obama, some voting McCain and more staying home.
Opinion Research had Obama losing about 10% and McCain gaining that same amount last week.

That’s a well worn canard and it’s patently false. They are budging. They will continue to budge.
From the NYTimes 8/24/08 (“Delegates for Clinton Back Obama, but Show Concerns”):
“Still, more than 80 percent of the delegates surveyed said they enthusiastically supported Mr. Obama, and about as many (including more than two-thirds of Mrs. Clinton’s pledged delegates) were confident he would win the election. Majorities across all regions except the South said Mr. Obama held an edge in their state.”
Two-thirds = 66%.

The hatred that boils out of these comments is part of the reason we can’t get anything done in this country. People like Limbaugh and O’Reilly don’t want to take responsibility for the murderous rhetoric they use on air, which whips a certain type of personality into a froth, and for a few, into taking action.
The murders in the Knoxville church, in the Arkansas Democratic Party headquarters, and the three refugees from Deliverance who were tweaked out on meth and guns when they were arrested in Denver–these are all logical consequences of political dialogue that consists of threats, insults, and demonizing other Americans.
If you love your country, if you are a Christian, these activities should be unacceptable.

Susan is right! Besides, the Republicans have destroyed this country for the past 8 years, who can dare to vote for the same party that has taken us to war and bleed our economy? Evenmore, there are true Americans, also Republicans that have endorsed Sen.Obama, such as Ms. Eisenhower..all of the RNC vicious and ridiculous ads are intended to distract people from real issues and keep ignorance blatant in America..
