Casey Invokes Abortion Differences With Obama
ABC News’ Teddy Davis and Rigel Anderson report: The economy was the topic of Sen. Bob Casey’s, D-Pa., Tuesday night address to the Democratic National Convention.
But the two sentences he uttered on abortion are likely to get the most attention.
“Barack Obama and I have an honest disagreement on the issue of abortion,” said Casey. “But the fact that I’m speaking here tonight is testament to Barack’s ability to show respect for the views of people who may disagree with him.”
Casey is the son of the late Pennsylvania Gov. Robert Casey.
The elder Casey, a Democrat who also held strong anti-abortion views, was denied a speaking role at the party’s 1992 convention — a perceived snub that has long been a flashpoint in the party’s wrangling over how to handle the abortion rights debate on the national stage.
Casey invoked that “dark night” while campaigning for the U.S. Senate two years ago.
Speaking at The Catholic University of America on Sept. 14, 2006, Casey said the 1992 Democratic National Convention "insulted the most courageous pro-life Democrat in the land, who asked that those who believed in the right to life be accorded the right to speak."
In his 2006 speech, the younger Casey also took conservatives to task for being too narrow in their pro-life views.
"If we are going to be pro-life,” said Casey, “we cannot say we are against abortion … and then let our children suffer in broken schools.
“We can’t claim to be pro-life," he added, "at the same time we are cutting support for Medicaid, Head Start or the Women, Infants and Children’s Program."

Actually Bob Casey’s speech will NOT be remembered because he talked about abortion but he had some of the best lines of the night.
1. “McCain voted with Bush >90% of the time. He’s not a maverick. He’s a sidekick.
2. “Not 4 more years, just 4 more months”.
Those were some of the best lines of the night.

Obama is in essence a story too good to be true. The harder they sell him, the tougher for people to accept. At the time of punching ballots, McCain as a known person – good, bad or ugly – will be entrusted with the job.

The problem is John McSame, and that problem will go away– at least back to the Senate — in four months!!!
You repugnants are beginning to whine like Clinton supporters, back in March/April when it was clear Obama would be the nominee, but she kept things going for several months!
It’s all over but the voting!

Michelle Obama looks really pi–ed off because of Hillary’s thunderous applause and her incredible bio film.

David–I’m from Texas too. I was part of the Operation Chaos, who voted for Hillary. My concern was that Obama would get the nomination. A safer ticket would have been between McCain and Hillary, that way we win either way. Obama has absoltely no experience and should be ashamed to be running with his terrorist, racist and criminal friends and 144 days in the Senate as a Jr Senator.

I understand that it takes a courageous man to try to stand up for life within the Democratic party, and also that Senator Casey is bound by party affiliation to support this candidate, but if Casey really understands that the abortion issue is a LIFE issue – i.e. that lives are being ended – how can he in good conscience endorse the most pro-abortion candidate in the history of the presidency? Disappointed and disgusted.

There were six Supreme Court Justices in Roe versus Wade decision of 1973
Four were in favor and two opposed. Of those four that made up the majority vote, only one was a liberal, the other three were life long republicans or conservatives appointed by republicans
Oh and guess what, Richard Nixon was in office in 1973!

The I-WANTS are obama supporters..the I-NEEDS are hillary supporters…..
and the self sufficient are McCain voters…
