Palin: Global Warming Not Man-Made

ABC News’ Rick Klein Reports: Among the issues Sen. John McCain will have to smooth over with his new running mate: global warming.

In an interview for the September issue of the conservative magazine Newsmax, Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, said she does not believe climate change is caused by human behavior.

“A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I’m not one though who would attribute it to being man-made,” Palin said in the interview, which was posted online Friday.

McCain, R-Ariz., by contrast, has broken with his party’s dogma by supporting a mandatory program to cap carbon emissions — a point of pride for McCain as he burnishes his independent reputation.

Palin’s quote about global warming not being manmade is also at odds with the freshly approved GOP platform for 2008. That language — adopted by the party this week — marks the first time the Republican Party’s policy document addresses climate change.

"The same human activity that has brought freedom and opportunity to billions has also increased the amount of carbon in the atmosphere," the document reads. "Increased atmospheric carbon has a warming effect on the earth." 

A McCain campaign spokeswoman, Maria Comella, disputed suggestions that Palin does not recognize the reality of global warming. As governor, she created a new “sub-cabinet” agency last September, to advise her office “on the preparation and implementation of an Alaska climate change strategy.”   

She has also endorsed efforts to learn more about human impacts on climate change.

“Governor Palin not only stands with John McCain in his belief that global warming is a critical issue that must be addressed, but she has been a leader in addressing climate change,” Comella said.

Palin and McCain disagree on another key environmental issue: drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, in Palin’s home state of Alaska. Palin is for it, while McCain wants to keep the refuge off-limits.

“It’s nonsense not to tap a safe domestic source of oil. I think Americans need to hold Congress accountable on this one,” Palin told Newsmax about drilling in ANWR.

The mis-statements and unforced errors on the part of the Obama acolytes are funny. Palin hasn’t been in office for a full term? Guess what. Neither has Obama. Alaska as the least populous state? Well, not actually, at least in terms of population. More than DELAWARE, for example.
Sarah Palin is a reformer, took on the establishment in her own party and won, and has had nearly 10 years of executive experience. I’ll take her over Obama, with ZERO executive experience, and Biden, also with ZERO executive experience (who has also apparently learned nothing in his 36 years of flailing about in Washington), any day.

OK, do American voters really think that a Presidential candidate who’s grandfather, father, himself and his son have military background will end the Military Industrial Complex’s policy of America in Endless War(s), and end the GHB/GWB Iraqi war(s) (that’s McCain…)? Do voters really think that a Vice Presidential choice who’s husband is in the Oil Industry and who’s state citizens get governmental payouts from Oil revenues in Alaska will support the complete move to clean, renewal, homegrown energy sources such as Wind, Solar, Wave, Geothermal, Biomass, cellulosic ethanol and others (that’s Palin…)? Well, I don’t think McCain/Palin will. They will support the status quo. So, if you feel the country is doing well and should continue on as usual, they’re your pair.

If the GOP had qualms about the one-term Senator Obama from a well-populated State (IL) and one of the countries largest cities (Chicago area), then the RNC has got to be kidding about a one-term Governor Palin of a “remote” state (AK) from the continental U.S. with no large cities, relatively. This election is a sham, (I just lament the possibility that it could’ve been a Clinton/Biden ticket, alas…).

Out of everything I heard about Sarah Palin today, the most disturbing thing to me has to be her support of Pat Buchanan. As a Jew in Palm Beach, I must say that I am disgusted by her views. Look at Palins record or lack of it. Look at her background or lack of it then laugh at it. Biden will wipe the floor with her during the debates. At least Obama is a educated and can speak like political greats. I can hardly wait for hockey mom to open her mouth and see the bias and hate slip from her tongue.
She does however excel at breeding, at least her legs seem to open correctly. I’m sure her rough hound husband is pleased.
See a picture of her in 1984 as a “true” queen of Alaska then try to see her talking tough to anyone. I know, she can bake brownies and invite them to a hockey game. That will show em. And I guess she’s fisically a mess, caused her small town $$$ needlessly. Another tax and spend conservative, but with the world ending any day now, like why worry right? What is that series, the Left Behind crowd. I want someone to ask her if she thinks we’re living in “end times” just to see here her response. Either way it will be a deal breaker for her.
This nomination is a joke and so are the republicans that support her.
One more thing, she’s currently under investigation for being a royal douche in Alaska. I guess she uses influence to make her family problems go away. In pocket of big oil, hates bears, she’ll help overturn Roe V Wade as she cares about the fetus and to hell with the child. Typical help myself, screw everyone else conservative.
And the issue of abortion is between the mother, her maker and her doctor. (the holy trinity) Not stupid conservatives that wish to push their lifestyle on the entire world.

Senate. Even Barbara Boxer commented after the vote that she supports taking care of live babies for God’s sake.

You’ll see she flip-flopped on why she fired the guy. First she said it was because she wanted him in a new job to focus on alcohol abuse in Alaska. And then, less than a month later, she said she fired him because she didn’t believe that he could control alcohol abuse in Alaska. She has been in charge of a state with more reindeer than people. There is a big different in pushing the button to switch on the lights in a god-forsaken town in Alaska and having your finger on the red flashing button. What happens, God forbid, if something happens to McCain (if he becomes President) and she becomes President. The sad thing is that there are many more competent women he could have chosen from. But he took this decision because he will do everything to become President. He did it because it is good for him. Not what is good for this country. It is a sexist decision trying to play “women” to get their vote. Shame on McCain.

This choice makes me reflect more deeply about how McCain’s career as a fighter pilot, it seems it is more revealing that we first thought – apparently he flies by the seat of his pants.
Remember the most revealing event in that career – he was shot down.
According to all accounts McCain only met Gov. Palin one time before choosing her to be his VP nominee. He’s made the decision about the person who will be one heart beat away from Commander-in-Chief by flipping a coin.
The issue isn’t Palin’s experience or lack thereof, the issue is what this choice tells us about McCain’s process of decision making process – his JUDGEMENT – or lack thereof! What I see scares me. God Save this Country from such Recklessness!

The First Test of Judgment for a Presidential Candidate
It has been said that the most important first decision a Presidential candidate makes is choosing their Vice Presidential running mate.
Barack Obama said his criteria was someone who is qualified to be President and someone who can help him govern. He chose someone with the experience to lead if needed, and someone who will provide frank consultation.
John McCain picked an admirable young Governor with no national security credentials even though he has been saying that Barack Obama does not have enough national security experience. This is another example ofJohn McCain’s inconsistency in his own judgment.
His choice gives the impression that his choice for a running mate had more to do with winning an election and less to do with finding a qualified running mate. Yet, this is not possible from someone who puts his country above party and winning an election.
So, it appears that Barack Obama has passed this first test of judgment and John McCain has not.
Regardless, John McCain’s choice of running mate does not change his 90% voting record with a failed administration. As President, he will still choose policies that 80% of Americans think are taking us in the wrong direction.
Voters should consider this now and in November.

Palin is not convinced that “climate change” is human caused. Since climate change has happened since the planet was formed, I don’t have a problem with skeptiism.
Obama blew his chance for being President, fortunately, by not picking Hillary as his VP.
As for Obama’s intelligence, I see that he had a Ivy League education, can anyone give me his bar number? I can’t even find, using Google, that he or his Ivy League wife passed the bar.

When one is so stuck on the basis of an ideology of religious values, then to try and impose those values and beliefs on others this is the makings for disaster and in doing so by in way of deception and fear tactics to achieve their agenda. I have a rather good sense of knowing who is lying and who is not by facial expressions and I tell you with certainty McCain is a liar of unprecedented magnitude. However anyone reading this doesn’t need to have the same foresight. All one has to do is lookup McCain’s voting record as how much he has flip-flopped. And also lookup at all of the scandals and laws they broke this republican administration has done the past 8 years. I ask you how many times a person needs to be lied to before you realize they are a liar and being as such they can’t be trusted by anything they say or do. In some ways I feel sorry for McCain supporters if those are truly lost but then again self chosen ignorance is not an excuse. And self chosen arrogance is not worthy of any kind compassion at all when our very way of life and American values/rights are at stake and further being taken from us by such. Not to mention our very survival on this earth in regards to global warming.
The DNC Convention was jammed packed. The GOP Convention; they had trouble and had to bus people outside the state to try and fill their seats. More people watched the DNC Convention then The Olympics and Star Search. And then lets not count how many hits they had on the internet. The GOP is dead. Fill a glass to the rim with ice and water and let it sit until the ice melts and see what happens. Should I explain to you that 2+2=4 now? Or in your bible is it written that it really doesn’t equal 4 and God tolled you that it is only a mental mathematical equation that don’t exist. I suppose you think that once ice melts that the matter (of which that it is) just remarkably disappears and becomes nonexistent… similar to your poor attempt in you post directed to me. Time and time again I see people that spew crap, hate and flat out lies pulled out of their ass in an effort to discredit the other instead of coming in here with factual statements and debatable issues. This kind of mentality is pathetic! Who the hell cares of something that is so petty if someone got a blow job or did not, smoked pot or did not, or for that fact if someone had posed for in playboy or did not. It is all meaningless and pointless in the light of much more important issues such as torture, freedoms, the rule of law and how not to over step our rights and freedoms of religions extremists. You people that come in here and fill up space with such crap instead of debating real issues. I say this to everyone of whatever party you belong too; get a brain and a life. This kind of mentality is not needed. And certainly should have no room in the political process. You people that make these meaningless allegations, true or not they are as shallow as the statement you make and say volumes about your mentality…grow up!
I am most certainly not a republican and the people as like such mentality only represent them self’s and not of me. I see a lot of hate that come form republican side more often then I see it from the other but obviously it does happen.

I will not impose my values and beliefs onto others as like what the rightwing Christians do. And then yet they are for the death penalty. According to Christians religion God gave us all freewill. And thou shall not judge. However the rightwing extremists want to take freewill and to Judge those that want it. All this under a party that lies, tortures, violates our rights and breaks the law. Not to mention an unprovoked and illegal war and the killing of thousands in it. They are anything but Christians and indeed hypocrites to their on religion.

To all you PUMAs out there, if it is that important to you to have a woman in or near the White House because she has the correct body parts, I guess the McCain/Palin ticket is for you. I am tired of abortion being front and center in every presidential election. This is just a trick that will not work this time. I am a life long democrat who has never supported abortion. However, I have never felt thatI should vote for a president based on that fact. (If you don’t believe in abortion, don’t have one). It will remain legal regardless of who takes office. That was an issue in 2000 as well as 2004. The republicans knows they can make fools of us by bringing this up in every election. Get this, God will take care of all of these abortions for he said, “In the last days, all unborned babies will cry out.” Abortions will be until the end of time. They were here before Roe V Wade and will be after.
We need a president that will work for us. In my research, watching the news, and debates, Obama/Biden is the best ticket for all of us who are making less that $250,000 per year.

(That kitchen table argument is so lame) What I am laughing so much about is… #1. how scared some people are of Palin. the Dems have nominated someone with less executive experience to not be “one heartbeat away”.. but to be IN the oval office. They all see how empty Obama is compared to this “Hockey Mom”… It truly does crack me up. #2. how so many people can so easily be fooled in to thinking humans and what they do can have more effect on our climate than the Sun. I fly all over the country in my job… I look out the window. At 35,000 ft. the most “human activity” that is visible is agriculture. Here’s a relatively small example of why I don’t believe Al Gore. Try flying from Toledo to St. Louis. Look out the window… 95% (maybe more) of what you see is the result of agricultural activity. It’s a little over 400 miles between the 2 cities… at 35,000 feet you can see for about 100 miles (maybe more) in each direction… so, that’s at least 80,000 square miles of nothing but corn and soybeans (pretty much) and ALL of it is irrigated … they can only grow all that corn and soy beans by fertilizing and spraying water into the atmosphere. What happens when you spray water into the air? Right… it cools the air and it increases the humidity. Look at satellite photos from all over the world. This agricultural activity… with irrigation, is happening ALL AROUND the world on a MASSIVE SCALE. If, we as humans, were responsible for ANY change in the Earth’s Climate… it would be due to agriculture and irrigation. It is the ONLY thing we are doing on a large enough scale to affect climate. Nothing else we as humans do comes even close to this scale. Nothing!!!! Apparently, all this activity (agriculture/irrigation) is not having ANY effect. You have really got to understand how SMALL we all are and how little we actually have control over. Attempting to stop climate change is as crazy as attempting to STOP PLATE TECTONICS. Instead of all that “serious thinking”… maybe you should try some “critical thinking”. What you really need to be concerned with is what happens when a city like Phoenix or Las Vegas… or even Atlanta, like almost happened last year, RUNS OUT OF WATER.

Most people believe global warming has a man-made component to it. Even your own party is recognizing that. Try wrapping your mind around that.
Obama has less experience than Palin? Obama was a state senator representing a district that has as many people as the WHOLE STATE of Alaska when Palin was a part-time mayor of a town of 7000.
Try facing reality sometime, it’s refreshing and may just open up your mind.

I assume you, too, have read the scientific studies about global warming from both sides and choose your point of view. But McCain, like me, believes the human behavior contributes to the global warming.

She is not a qualified college educated expert in this area, nor is she is well known among world leaders in this expertise to be respected as a world expert on this. Maybe Gov. Palin’s experience is relevant, maybe it isn’t. We don’t know. She hasn’t been on the national stage for anyone – Democrat or Republican – to make an informed judgement.
The frightening thing is McCain can’t possibly know either.
In his speech in Dayton yesterday where he introduced her to the nation as his V.P. nominee he told us – the viewing, American public – “Once you get to know her like I do, you’ll learn what a fine person she is” (or words to that effect). But how can he know who she really is? Before choosing her as his V.P. nominee he had only met her one time before. This is the kind of fly-by-the-seat-of-your once again pants, fighter pilot decision making that could lead this country over the edge and into the abyss.
When deciding who should stand a heart beat from the most powerful job in the world, he flipped a coin.
I’m am not so much worried about Palin’s readiness to be Commander-in-Chief as I am about McCain’s readiness.

Governor Sarah Palin is not a reformer she is a provincial politician.
As recently as 2006 she was STRONGLY in favor of the notorious “Bridge to Nowhwere”. She only reversed her position in September, 2007 after the DEMOCRATICALLY controlled Congress withdrew federal support for the project and told her – if Alaska so wnats this boondoogle let Alaska pay for it. When the question was American tax-payers footing the $160 million dollar cost she was all in favor, when she was faced with paying the bill out of her own kitty she suddenly changed her tune.
That’s not reform that’s someone robbing a bank until the police show up and then making a quick get away.

A GOP… I happen to think that it’s time to throw “the baby out with the bath water”. Our govt. is so badly corrupted that we can’t tell the good guys from the bad guys. To me, since Obama picked Biden, that tells me either Obama is a wolf in sheep’s clothing (part of the problem) or is so naive he can’t see he is being played by the Washington good ol’ boy network. Whatever the case, all of his ideas have to do with expanding government, spending more money and taking away more of my individual rights. I know Obama said he was going to go “line by line” and eliminate programs that don’t work anymore, but apparently he doesn’t know that he won’t have a line item veto. His lack of knowledge about what powers each of our branches of government have is truly mind boggling.
McCain is not much better, he is a liberal with an “R” beside his name, but his pick of such a wild card is very refreshing. Palin’s willingness to go after members of her own party for corruption gives me hope. Just imagine on Day One in the Senate when she stands up there and tells everyone in the Senate they better be clean or she will take them down too… LOL The rats will be running like crazy. Perhaps a “Hockey Mom” is exactly what we need in Washington… maybe she’ll bring her Hockey Stick with her… hahahaha I’d love to see that. Whatever the case, I highly doubt things will be the same after she gets there.
As for my “kitchen table”??? I am self employed and have been for 30 years… I don’t have any employees and intend to keep it that way. I pay my own healthcare costs and pay all of my bills. I do OK.. but I am far from rich. Let’s just say this… if Obama wins and lowers taxes on everybody’s income of less than $250,000 a year, then I would benefit from that. It’s the people and companies that I work for that would take the hit and I already know what they would HAVE to do… they would have to discontinue using my services. Right now, I am self sufficient. If I lose my income because Obama’s plan raises their taxes and I lose that, then I will be in line for everyone else to pay my healthcare costs (just like Congress) and for food to go on my table. Are you ready to pay for my healthcare?
Do you really think we can afford all those programs Obama is proposing and not take a hit on “some kind of tax” on everybody who makes more than $40,000 a year? There is no way!
in any case, good luck to all and STOP ALL THE UGLY POSTS… it is making the problem worse. While you are shouting, someone will have a very good idea and nobody will hear it over your screams and rants. If we can just cut all the insults then maybe, just maybe we can get to a solution. How vile and nasty do we have to be to each other? Why is it so important to trash a woman and her family who seem to be so genuinely American? If she has no character and has made mistakes, they will come to light. If she has not – why try to peg her with the problems?
There is a record behind McCain and Biden – both are part of our problems today. Senator Obama has very little on the record – it was interesting to see what a supporter lists as his achievements – I hadn’t heard any/much of that – this is useful discussion. We are looking to him for change and hoping he is different. But when all I hear is that it’s all George Bush’s fault (and the Republicans of course) – I cannot help but believe that is dishonest or disingenuous. I will not accept that it’s all the Democrats fault either. There is a valid point that we had a Republican controlled government for several years and things did not get better — they DID get worse.
What I don’t hear is what the Democrats would have done differently – after a horrible mass killing of over 3,000 of our citizens – even in hind site. OK, I have heard an idea or two, but nothing that immediately sounds like, “That would have really made a difference.”
What I don’t see in the Republicans is an apology for where they went off-track and how they intend to get back ‘on-track’.
McCain is not the answer – he is actually more liberal in intents and purposes than John Kennedy. If he were running in 1964 – he would have to run as a Democrat.
I do not see anything interesting in the governments of EU countries, UK, Russia, nor China – all of these countries look to more government control to make things better. America has always stood for freedom and responsibility. We are drifting from the responsibility part. The early settlers had to do it all themselves and did. We still need to take responsibility for ourselves and trust in that – or God – or deity – or whatever you like – because once you put your faith in a government that is “the provider” rather than being of the people, for the people, by the people – we no longer have America . . . and I think that will be a sad day for whatever is left of America.
How about toning down the ridiculous and vindictive statements and making some sensible statements?

The data is out and irrefutable. 30,000 Atmospheric scientists signed a petition stating that the data supporting the concept of “Global Warming” was corrupt and invalid. Most in fact believe the planet to be heading into a cooling period that will last over a thousand years, and nothing to do with the activity of Man. She has that beauty pageant contestant smile that never varies, and so she was a beauty pageant contestant as was Cindy McCain, and it bothers me. The news programming has become a bad episode of the “Twilight Zone”. Suddenly 80% of the news programming is Religious Right “human Interest” stories, i.e., GOP Spin Propaganda! It is offensive and insulting that McCain and the Religious Right delude themselves to even pretend that Palin would attract even one Hillary Vote! The cable media and Religious Right clearly knows exactly how pathetic the McCain VP choice is and how pathetic their biased news coverage has been! Let Alaska pay their way like every other state, and her incompetence will be glaring. Alaska is a giant welfare State to the tune of 85% of their budget! The Anchorage Daily News quoted her on Oct. 22, 2006, as saying yes, she would continue state funding for the bridge because she wanted swift action on infrastructure projects. “The window is now while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist,” she said. Palin and Alaska receive 85% of their income from our national resources. All revenue from sale of national resources should be used to reduce the national debt and should not be used to fund the State budget or Big Oil. Follow the Religious Right and oil money! This VP choice is a money play for the Religious Right to fund McCain!
The public should be reminded that Palin, like the Religious Right, thinks global warming is a myth and wants creationism taught in schools! McCain is now owned by the Religious Right! The stark denial of the fact of global warming and science of evolution is not surprising considering Palin is a journalism major, Religious Right zealot, and supports Big Oil. All Palin want to do, like the GOP, is to drill for more oil to get more of our money from our national resources for her State and Big Oil. Now the Religious Right wants to run our Country! This Religious Right power play by McCain must be exposed for the disastrous choice it represents! This VP choice is a money play for the Religious Right to fund McCain!

I’m a Hillary supporter and I don’t feel insulted at all. In fact, I was debating whether to vote for McCain or not vote at all (voting for Obama is not an option!). I was waiting to see who he announced as his running mate, I’m impressed and I’m now firmly behind McCain. Obama supporters are jumping through hoops to spin this one. They are really scared! Great choice!

Man is this scary or what, another 4 years of just like Bush. If it happens I hope the whole country gets brought to their knees not that we haven’t been going that direction the last 4 years anyway. Can we say Depression, banks closing, business shutting down, enonomy in the toliet. Prices so high people making even a 100,000 a year struggling. Please tell me the 18 to 50′s group of people will not just say forget it and please come out and vote for Obama. We need to all get involved and give Obama a chance. Hasn’t Bush done enough damage.

Back to the discussion. I think Sarah’s right. A small part of climate change might be madmade but that’s not proven. Solar activity has definately slowed. Solar cycle 23 has gone 12 1/2 years and is still not over! I noticed today that the sun has been 45 days without a spot (www.dxlc.com/solar/).
On the other hand, cycles 21 and 22 were very short, which is when the global warming debate started. Now many sources suggest global cooling is occuring. Indeed the temperature of the stratosphere has been dropping, and we’re beginning to see the coupling-down effect with big hurricane seasons and tornado outbreaks.
We should be putting more attention into understanding the natural cycles rather than panicing to somehow prove that man is at fault. We’re not quite that powerful.

As a woman, what I find so upsetting is that a gazillion woman at the RNC could take her in so quickly.
Women….we are loosing our identity if we are not thinking about what the feminine aspect of our being represents. We are about bringing unification, linking together communities, caring for MOTHER EARTH–that sustains us,and tolerance for differences. Both McCain and Palin failed to address healthcare, the environment, and EDUCATION!
How can you say your not for the elite and then not talk at all about the struggles that are keeping our children oppressed.
She was solid in her speech and remarkably confident. I just don’t think she has been exposed to anything beyond her small town. I don’t know how you can know you can lead a country when you haven’t seen the world. It changes your perspective about everything and yes, it even invites personal transformation which is critical in making external changes that surpass time.

What qualifies politicians such as Palin to be more knowledgeable on the causes of global warming than the IPCC and National Academy of Sciences? What is the basis for Palin’s opposition to studies endorsed even by the Bush administration which resulted in the placement of polar bears on the endangered species list? Where does she come up with her ridiculously high estimates of Alaskan fossil fuel reserves, which are at odds with DOE and USGS projections? Finally, on what authority does she seek to impose of her religious views re. “creationism” in our public classrooms? Final Palin score: Style points–100, substance and experience 0. Oh, on cigarettes… Why does Europe and the rest of the world NOT allow flame retarding chemicals in their cigarettes? Because THAT’S the biggest cause of lung cancer in US sold smokes. Yes, there is rat poison in cigarette smoke. The government requires it to be put there. A recent law introduced to remove those materials falling into line with the rest of the world would (according to proponents) reduce the health risks of smoking by over 80 percent.
It’s kinda like global warming, eh?

Why is Sarah Palin being made into such an issue? I’m pretty sure the ticket is Macain/Palin, not the other way around. The woman is the vice-presidential nominee. I agree she is not qualified for the position, but thankfully she is not the presidential candidate. If people are honestly willing to vote for a president based solely on their vice-president, than they are even more ignorant and easily distracted than I ever would have imagined. Can we please go back to focusing on the issues between the two PRESIDENTIAL candidates and stop worrying about this underqualified, irresponsible, demeaning choice for vice-president.

You’re right, climate change is real and demonstrable. McCain believes this and has proposed and worked to pass legislation dealing with it. He has gone against his own party on this risking his chances of winning the nomination for President. Yet he still won.
Can you point to an effort regarding climate change that Obama has taken? Aside from trying to mandate renewables, which is the sort of command and control approach to the problem that serious people agree won’t work, what has he actually done?
And why does he say he’s open to nuclear power when on the key questions of whether new nuclear generation can be built, he’s been an obstacle?
Nobody serious thinks you can mitigate global warming without a full frontal effort to replace coal generation. And you can’t do that if you sideline nuclear power. Nor can you accomplish much if you’re afraid to lead, as Obama has always been.

Palin is correct, and like many other issues, she’s ahead of the crowd. Why is it so hard for people to understand that BOTH manmade AND natural parameters affect climate. Scientists who are not beholden to the federal funding agencies can look at the historical temperature record before manmade CO2 became measureable, and the relative strength of CO2 as a greenhouse gas compared to water vapor and other gases, and surmise that the impact of natural causes even today is probably still greater than the effect of manmade causes. My doctorate is in a different discipline (although I had an undergraduate minor in meteorology) but I’ve very familiar with the grant-writing process, and I often ask myself if I’d have the courage to write the truths stated above if the consequence would be that funding sources would dry up since there’d be less interest in studying this when it becomes clearer mankind can’t significantly change it no matter what we do. In reality, we should spend more time learning to deal with the change instead of chasing weak effects like anthropogenic CO2 generation.

GLOBAL WARMING IS A CROCK OF NONSENSE… back in the Cretaceous when dinosaurs walked the earth, Global temperatures were about 18 degrees (F) warmer than it is today. Many cooling and warming cycles have occurred afterwards. Back when Imhotep built the Step Pyramid (~4700 years ago) global temperatures were about 3 degrees warmer than today and the arctic seas were practically ice free. Back when Genghis Khan consolidated out the Mongol Empire, when the Norse explored Greenland and when armored Knights jousted in the name of chivalry in Europe (~800 years ago; circa 1200 AD) global temperatures were 3~8 degrees warmer than today. We know these from the extents of glaciation evidence. The Earth, again, had many warming and cooling cycles in between and thereafter. During the late-1800s to ~1940 we had a warming period, by 1940 however we saw a sharp downward trend in global temperatures which lasted till 1977 (and the Al Gores of the day were predicting an imminent Ice Age — go dig up that 1974 Time Magazine Article). Finally, the 1980s to present had been a MILD warming period (less than during the 1200s and way short of historical peaks during throughout the planet’s history). There is no question whatsoever that androgynous CO2 output consistently increased between 1850 and 2008, there is also no question that Dinosaurs and Genghis Khan didn’t drive SUVs. We can therefore say that our current climate trend is smack right in the middle of historical fluctuations and that it should be seen as perfectly “normal” statistically. More importantly, we need to recognize that we have ZERO evidence, scientific or statistical, that androgynous CO2 output due to industrialization has had any tangible effect on cyclic global climate changes. We don’t know when our warming trend will end with or without human intervention.
In fact, between Jan 2007 and Jan 2008 temperatures have plummeted enough to erase all the warming we saw in the previous 15 years (see attached temperature graph). This has been collated to a subsiding of trend of increase solar flare activity in the past two decades — solar activity which collates well with the warming trend in recent decades and solar activity which we know is abnormal. We don’t know if this is temporary or the beginning of a global cooling period. But, if I am to follow thinking of Global Warming blow hards, I guess I should be yelling about an impending Ice Age. Of course, this won’t stop the Nobel Committee from giving Al Gore the Peace Prize, but then again they gave it to a bona fide terrorist, corrupt hate monger and mass murder Yasir Arafat, so I guess they have very unique “standards”!

There are two problems with our country; the first is the mass of stupidity welling up from the bottom of our country ( all of those of you that have not finished high school, barely got through high school, or have no idea what high school is and never even got close to a decent education ) and the second is the rich and powerful people who feel it is their job to play on your stupidity in order for you to vote for them.
As for me, I will unfortunately watch this play out from the sidelines, do my research into the stories by using credible sources, and make informed decisions. You will not find me making the same idiotic comments about global warming being a farce because war broke out again in the Middle East after Yasir Arafat brokered a peace deal. Who cares if the guy was worthless? Seriously? Get an education, you poor-ass hillbilly.

Global Warming is not a farce because a war broke out. Global warming is a farce because it is not substantiated by facts. There is no convincing data to suggest that the climates change we are experiencing is not completely within historical norms. More importantly, there is no evidence to suggest that androgeneous CO2 output has ANY tangible effects on global climate cycles or that we won’t experience global cooling in the next few decades with or without human intervention.
Global warming is a convenient hoax perpetuated by various environmental and political interests to further various philosophical or economic interest. It also has a convenient league of lemmings within the media and academic circles whose strategy is to ostracize anyone and thing thing that dares to contradict their faith through name calling, character attacks and flat out stonewalling.

Zac, global warming is not a hoax, its been NATURALY warming for the last thousand or so years. remember what you learned in 3rd grade this whole continent used to be under a glacier. The Earths warming and cooling cycles are mostly dictated by the sun and its natural cycles. It is arrogant and dangerous to think that we humans caused this natural event and even more arrogant and dangerous to think we can fix it.

Global Warming and the catastrophic projects ARE A HOAX. And, no, there is nothing crazy about our climate. In fact, right now we are smack right in the middle of historical norms — much cooler than the warmest peroids, and comfortably warmer than the coolest. In fact, do you know that we have seen a HUGE AMOUNT of cooling in the past 18 months that we have wiped out about 15 years worth of so called “global warming”? Do you know that between 1940 and 1977 we saw such a rapid cooling that the environmental clowns of the day were screaming “ICE AGE IMMINENT”? Do you know that we are still cooler today than in 1200AD? Do you know that while Al Gore was filming the “melting of the arctic ice sheet, we are also seeing record snowfall and pack ice on the south pole? Do you know that all these cooling and warming cycles seem to be completely independent of human CO2 output?
Yes, we have seen a warming cycle between 1980 and 2006 which ended in mid-2007 with a sharp fall in temperature in one year that erased 10 years worth of so called warming. The magnitude and duration of this cycle is well within the historic fluctuations in the planet’s history. Now, I haven’t heard a factual or logical counter argument so far from the Global Warming crowd except name calling and out right dismissal that if you are not on the Global Warming bandwagon you somehow lack an education. And, no, I don’t want to hear about the fact that there are many PhDs who tout global warming because there are also PhDs who debunk it, and an argument about why your favourite PhDs are better than mine goes nowhere. Let’s stick to the facts and the science shall we?

And as for shooting wolves and grzzily bears from airplanes for sport, well that’s just wacko! Have we not learned of our previous mistakes in the past. I’m from California and it’s simply a joke to have an extinct Grizzly Bear on our state flag. And as for some other person deciding what I decide to do with my body, I think NOT! Other countries used to look at America and marvel at us. Now we are a joke because of the Bush regime. Do you really want to vote for a person who has voted 95% like Bush?

Well, entitled to the faith that Global Warming is not a hoax, but do you have ANY facts and reasoning to back that up? I have already presented a good deal of reasons why I think Global Warming is nonsense. You have presented ZERO counter arguments, just an insistence. Well, let me summarize the facts for you.
(1) Global temperatures today is COOLER than ~1200AD, ~4700BC, when dinosaurs walked the Earth, and many many other periods in our planets past before industrialization.
(2) Between Jan 2007 and Jan 2008 Global Temperatures plunged to below 1988 levels with no reduction in androgeneous CO2 emission.
(3) Between 1940 and 1977 Global temperatures was also on a steep decline despite constant Co2 emission increase during that period.
(4) Global temperatures today is well within historical fluctuations and is in fact right in the middle of the historic range.
(5) Our ice caps are NOT melting, in fact the accumulation of ice in the antarctic is GREATER than the loss of ice in the Arctic.
(6) There is no scientific or statistical evidence that androgeneous CO2 emissions has ANY tangible effect on global temperatures. Zero, nada, zilch. In fact, there is way more statistical collation between global temperatures with solar activity than CO2 emissions!
As far as Bush is concerned, no I am not a fan of W, but probably not for the same reason as your hatred for the man. I feel that G W Bush is way too liberal — on spending, on increasing social services, on prescription drug benefits, on not cutting taxes enough, on not championing a flat tax, on growing the federal bureaucracy, and on trying to reward illegal aliens for breaking our immigration laws with an amnesty. In my eyes, G W Bush is wantonly Liberal president. There is also no doubt that Washington is broken, wasteful, corrupt and inept on both sides of the aisle. But I’ll tell you this…

Dispite modern medical tests, Palin chose to have a baby needing a lifetime of special very expensive education which if the horror of her getting into the white house ever came true, the kid would of course become another burden to the taxpayers, and with her there; who will tend to the babies needs she won’t have the time for. Hired hands of course. The tax payers have lots of money. After not aborting that baby, that lady should be spending 110% of her time with him.

What if she wins and is sworn in to swear to uphold the constitution how can that be believed but maybe she will say she will uphold the terms of the constitution that she like?

Wow, I truly thought Palin was a moron until I read this article.
It is refreshing to see a politician who actually reads what the data indicates, that human beings release less than 1% of all total carbon, and even if we did have some play in the current climate change, there is no scientific data to solidify the argument.
Even if the Artic ice did melt I don’t see how this truly means anything except more resources and easier transport of goods to certain regions of the world.
The only thing I can think of is the temperature of water making it less dense once it starts getting over 4 degrees c.
The simple fact of the matter is this: There are currently no alternatives to oil at the moment.
I’d say nuclear is the best bet to cut down on oil and other unrenewable resources but hippies will start jumping out of their volvo’s after they light themselves on fire.

Calm down guys. It is true that Palin acknowledges global warming, but denies it’s man made. She is against abortion yes. I am democratic but I am against it. They should have the choice still, but come on, why make that mistake in the first place, use a damn condom and stop aborting babies like it is a trend.
McCAIN is a great man and candidate. It’s just that it is time for new meat. We’ve had the same type of candidates in office for the last 100 years. It’s about time people.

Palin’s view is consistent with Michael Crighton’s book “STATE OF FEAR”. More and more people now understand variations in solar activity cause global warming. We have now begun a long cooling cycle. This election saw most Global Warming initiatives fail, for good reason. The principle reason is that most consumers, farmers, ranchers and foresters understand two things. First, global warming is good, not bad. Second, carbon in general and carbon dioxide in particular is good, not bad. Higher average temperatures together with higher concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere reduce crop failures and improve crop, grazing and forest production. Those two factors are the principal forces greening the planet and feeding all of us today. Liberal and eco-cults want to torpedo that winning combination. Why? Perhaps readers have some ideas here.
