In First Official Party Ticket Appearance, Palin Comes Out Swinging
ABC News’ Imtiyaz Delawala and Bret Hovell report: John McCain and Sarah Palin made their first appearance as the official Republican party ticket Friday, at an idyllic Main Street rally in Cedarburg, Wis.
Palin, the vice presidential nominee and governor of Alaska, came out swinging, criticizing rival Barack Obama for initially opposing the troop surge in Iraq, and, as the McCain campaign has repeatedly said, not admitting that it worked.
"But, just last night, Sen. Obama finally broke, and brought himself to admit what all the rest of us have known for quite some time, and that’s, thanks to the skill and valor of our troops, the surge in Iraq has succeeded," Palin said, referring to an answer Obama gave to Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, Thursday.
In his first appearance on "The O’Reilly Factor," Obama said that the troop surge succeeded "beyond our wildest dreams. … I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated, by the way, including President Bush and the other supporters," he told O’Reilly.
Palin took issue with Obama’s response and reminded voters that McCain initially supported the troop surge.
"I guess when you turn out to be profoundly wrong on a vital national security issue, maybe it’s comforting to pretend that everyone was wrong, too. But I remember it a little differently. It seems to me there was one leader in Washington who did predict success, who refused to call retreat, and risked his own career for the sake of the surge and victory in Iraq, and ladies and gentlemen, that man is standing right next to me — Sen. John McCain," Palin said.
Despite the staggering job loss numbers released today by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, McCain largely glossed over the report that 84,000 jobs were lost in the month of August, giving it only a tiny mention in the middle of his speech.
"These are tough times. Today, the job report is another reminder. These are tough times. They’re tough times in Wisconsin, they’re tough times in Ohio, they’re tough times all over America," McCain told the large crowd in Cedarburg.
He did however, have a lot to say about his new running mate, Palin — who has been credited with helping to energize the conservative base.
"Isn’t she the most marvelous running mate in the history of the nation?” McCain asked the crowd. "She’s magnificent, and I’m so proud, I’m so proud, my friends."
McCain also had glowing things to say about Palin’s professional snowmobiler husband Todd.
"Could I mention her husband Todd? That guy is crazy!" McCain exclaimed. McCain called his 2,000-mile treks in 40 degree-below weather "remarkable." "You’d have to be crazy to do that. But what a guy, a commercial fisherman, union member and a devoted father. What a family."

As a former resident of Alaska for 25 years, people there have to be gutsy, determined and honest to survive. Their life style is certainly different than LA, NYC or Chicago. Even people who migrate there from sophicated other parts of the country buy a rifle to go hunting and a boat and camper for fishing and outdoor outings. I think the Palens would be a typical Alaskan family and I would have welcomed them as friends and next door neighbors. I don’t think the Obama’s would fit in. After all, there are few mansions there paid for by crooks as favors in Alaska.

Karl Rove says Palin may be worth +3 points. True enough. Its also true she may be worth -5, especially if:
- independents find her social views too radical
- independents find her campaign style too negative
- the on-going investigation in Alaska shows she did abuse her authority
- people start to ask more questions about her involvement with an Alaskan secessionist party
- more comes out about fired librarians, etc

5 pundits in one hour on three different stations playing in my office…
when asked why she hasn’t done interviews
all said almost the exact same thing…
“the questions don’t matter because a VP’s policy positions don’t matter”
literally …this is their new talking point…
She won’t answeer questions …not because she doesn’t know any answers… or that she is overwhelmingly wrong on them…and doesn’t have any facts to back her up…
but because “the VP’s policy positions don’t matter”
get these bums out of here.

Since the press has NOT asked her any questions about any of her positions, who cares what she has to say.

Nicholas: “COUNTRY FIRST……..”
Yeah, but which country? Is it Georgia, Alaska?
You know, all this McCain bluster about how he always puts the country first sure sounds suspect when you consider his 2002 quote:
“I didn’t decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president…In truth, I’d had the ambition for a long time.”
Posted by: Paul | September 5, 2008, 11:24 am 11:24 am
the new talking point is the VP’s policy positions don’t matter so that is why she should not be asked questions that pertain to them…
yet McCain said his 2 leading issues were someone who agreed with his policy positions and someone who could take over as the leader of the free world…
yet she can’t answer any questions on that
only read prewritten attacks and cues…
again THE WORST Presidential decision in the history of our nation picking a candidate who has so little knowledge and awareness of the details of these situations that face us around the world she can’t do interviews.

“Are you better off than you were eight years ago?” Not even John McCain with a new woman on his arm can come up with a favorable answer to that question to the American people. Only the media can save John now, and believe me they just might save him for a second time. Remember it was the media who “saved” John’s sputtering campaign. It sure wasn’t conservative Republicans that brought him back from the dead. For as much as the party claims to hate the media as with the Palin fiasco which could have been avoided if McCain had done his homework, they listen and take their marching orders from the think tanks neo-CONS on the New York Times, LA Times, and yes even the Wall Street Journal. The Republican party has been hijacked by corporate fascists who want to conquer the world with the blood of dead Americans. And the so-called liberals and their corporate lackeys in the press, compete for the right to keep the meat grinder going. (Next up Iran) We have no opposition party, no people’s interest, no common good beyond what’s best for Wall St. at the expense of Main St. If the Investment bank bailouts, and the local bank closing have taught you anything surely they have taught you that. Your will doesn’t matter and it never did. Remember “You are free to do as we tell you…” Sit down, shut up, watch American Idol and be “happy!” And for God’s sake don’t EVER ask questions of those in power over you. You think this is a Democracy!?! (Majority/Mob rule) No, this is fascism! (When the corporations manipulate the people into surrendering their will and best interests, to the interests of the state)

McCain has a long record of contradicting himself. Its just McCain being McCain.
And people laud his straight talk and candor, particularly for moments when he admits his previous actions were self serving. For example:
“I didn’t decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president…In truth, I’d had the ambition for a long time.”
Ah, what candor! What a straight-talking maverick! But also what a crock he’s now running a campaign under the slogan “Country First.”

Obama is a Marxist, just read about his associations and mentors throughout his life…
He has no experience, simply a community organizer. If this qualifies for President, then let’s have all the Community Organizers in the country who have good communication skills apply for the job.
He has radical friends.
He wants to bring socialism to America.
His proposals for Economy, Healthcare, & Energy are only going to increase the taxes on all of us.
His socialist healthcare proposal will bring down the quality of our hospitals and doctors. As you all know, government agencies and government jobs suck! It is a fact.
He has no idea on foreign affairs. Biden is worse. The other day Biden said that a nuclear Iran is OK.
Plus, imagine having PELOSI, REID, BIDEN,and OBAMA run our country…. A huge disaster!!!

Obama has given the same answer to that question time and tiem again… his only admittance was that the surge worked beyond all of our wildest dreams…
Id like to ask palin about the anbar awakening and to ask her if she can explain it to me, and to explain if she thought this was a big or small reason that the surge has succeded.
You know the surge was suppose to be a couple of months and then the troops were suppose to come home… and we keep getting these stall tactics. Soon, next month, this july, this September… and now its like… hey the troops are going to come home in January…
But guess what happened today, Patreaus says we cant send more troops home because of stability issues. So how greatly did the surge work?

Mr. Incredible: “Everybody who knows it worked.”
Let’s assume for the sake of argument the surge did work and it was the major if not only reason for a less violent Iraq today. What have we won?
We spend hundreds of billions of dollars we don’t have, we lost over 4,000 servicemembers lives, and who knows how many American contractor lives, and we did we get in return?
Are we in a stronger or weaker position, strategically, because of the invasion we invested so much blood and treasure for?
What exactly are we getting out of this?

Making unsubstantiated little quips that you’ve parroted back from one of your many right-winged talking boxes does you no favors either. And I can’t believe you actually said you need to be “honest to survive” in Alaska. Have you been watching the news lately? Laughable.

And I’m still hoping a Republican can answer for me this question:
The Iraqis want us out, and forced us to agree to a timetable our current administration clearly did not want.
Does that constitute a win or a loss?
With these new, subjective, Republican wars, its hard to keep score.
Posted by: Paul | September 5, 2008, 11:40 am 11:40 am
“But I remember it a little differently.”
Umm, didn’t Palin say that she heard about the surge on the news?
Someone should ask her exactly what she remembers now that she has made an issue of it.
Posted by: Tim | September 5, 2008, 11:40 am 11:40 am
The surge succeeding would be achieving it’s goal
the goal of the surge
political stability in Iraq…so we could leave.
There is no way of knowing if we have political stability in Iraq.
The goal was not bringing down violence…that was the tool…
it’s like a blind man whose guest keeps walking into a nail and cutting himself…So to hammer down the nail so no one gets hurt including himself…
…and then comes back and says “I bought a hammer I swung it at the nail I was successful hitting it …so it worked and I can walk away.”
He has no idea if it worked…and we may have just blown all the money (and blood) on the hammer.
so stop get smarter…the success of the surge was not less violence just like hitting the nail is not the success of getting a nail to go down.

People in America who cannot see the dangers of a Obama – Biden ticket are very naive. And combine them with Pelosi and Reid, this country will only go down. I see SOCIALISM. Definetly higher taxes for everybody, the quality of our hopitals and doctors will deteriorate, too much government spending, and our military will be downgraded, making it dangerous when you have Iran building a missile system in Venezuela. Hello!!! Wake up America.

I have to admit, I didn’t expect the Republican ticket in 2008 to childishly change themes in September and argue that it is the ticket of change, as opposed to the guy who’s been running under that theme for 20 months.

David: “People in America who cannot see the dangers of a Obama – Biden ticket are very naive.”
What I think is naive is not seeing the danger in electing a guy known as Senator Hothead, especially when his own party has been telling us for eight years he doesn’t have the temperment to be president.
It is a dangerous world, and the last thing we need is someone who makes kneejerk decisions for emotional reasons.

When the time comes, Sarah will be able to say the words that the country wants to hear. Because she has been saying the same words for the last 15 years.

But then he is a perfect candidate for today’s Republicans, who are equally emotional. They don’t care about facts; that’s just “liberal” stuff. They only want to see flags waving and hear bluster, so they can feel good about themselves.
McCain fits the bill well. Will he talk tough to foreign leaders? Yep, and it will make you feel good, regardless of whether its the smart thing to do or not; regardless of whether it advances or stalls American interests.
There’s really no other way to explain Bush being elected twice. All that bluster provides an emotional fix.

Polls show 49% of Americans think Gov. Palin has more Executive experience as Prez – 49% to Nobama 39%.
McCain beat Obama in viewership with 38.9 million viewers, 500,000 more than BO and competing with NFL opening night. But Nobama did beat Gov. Palin, she was 37+ mill and he was 38 mill.

When Obama was focused on offering a vision and serious solutions to address our nation’s problems, McCain offered nothing except a series of ads that painted Obama as no more than a celebrity.
Today Obama is still focused on offering a vision and serious solutions to address our nation’s problems. In response, McCain offered up himself as a war hero and unleashed a real celebrity, his VP pick.
One of the first things that his VP pick did was an interview with People, an entertainment magazine. And you’d think her family is off-limits. Not with People. And to this date, the McCain campaign still refused to have her do any interview with the real news media.
Congratulations, Mr. McCain. You have successfully turned this election — an election which should be about life and death and bread and butter — into an American idol contest.
And woe to us. We deserve better — only if we really care.

again this from the woman who said a week ago
“I haven’t really has much time to pay much attention to Iraq”
a woman who will not be interviewed or asked questions getting up and having the low life balls to try and attack the candidates who actually can answer the questions
get this woman out of here.

LarryMan: OOps, except for settings like Saddleback when he couldn’t find any words because “it’s beyond his pay grade”.
Larry, he said that once in response to a question about when life begins. Unlike the pretend Christians who populate the Republican Party, Obama admits he doesn’t know the mind of God. By the way, my Church teaches the same.
Obama’s statement is certainly more in line with Christianity than words from those who pretend to speak and even fight wars for God.

The messiah hypocrite is now spending all his time on the stump talking about what “he didn’t hear from McCain/Palin“ during the RNC convention. He needs to tell us what he would be doing and not pay attention to what the competition isn’t doing. “Man mind thyself!” Oh, but I forgot – he doesn’t have Hillary to “copy/cheat” from in coming up with ideas on how to get this nation back on track. What a joke! I’ll be so happy when November 4th comes around and we can put him out of his misery.

so much for “country first”.
I guess when they say country they mean their campaign.

Again, Nicholas, the same feel-good nothing of a statement? How about discussing and defending it?
Which country is it that comes first? And how do you square that remark with McCain’s admission six years ago that he just wants to be president and not for any reforms or patriotic reasons, but just because of his personal ambition?

Oh, and David, here’s another one for you.
McCain promised to balance the budget in four years. Even members of his own party laughed at him for that. Its like he doesn’t understand the numbers or something.
But have you ever heard him say what he would cut from our spending?
Basically we have indiscretionary and discretionary spending. We can’t cut into the indiscretionary because our national credit rating is directly tied to our ability to pay existing promises (entitlements). So what in discretionary spending does he plan to cut?
Here’s another clue. The only thing in discretionary spending of any appreciable size is the Defense budget.
Is McCain saying he’s planning huge Defense cuts? That’s pretty much the only way to balance the budget in four years, and it would mean pretty much getting rid of an Armed Forces altogether.
Or was this all just more meaningless, feel-good McCain rhetoric for those with an emotional need to hear such things?

Until you learn how to address candidates by names, instead of that nonsensical Messiah talk, you wont be getting a response from me. After Palin is indicted, and McCain waves goodbye to all his supporters the night of Nov 4 (of course only holding his arms at belly level), then you can talk to me. See, I can do it too with the name calling, “wife cheater, c*nt caller, fossil, Bush clone, Copycat Change Agent, and thats just McCain…”Power abuser, Hillary wanna be, Can’t control her daughter, son-in-law who is forced to marry her daughter”…That’s really pointless…Tell the Republican ticket to come with some issues and stop watching Obama so hard…

Ms. Never: “The idiot messiah wasn’t even in the Senate when the vote was taken. So of course he can say he was against it b/c there wouldn’t have been a political price to pay.”
Obama was a candidate for the Senate when he opposed the Iraq invasion. I’d say its much easier for a sitting senator to take an unpopular position than for someone campaigning to get there.
And then there’s McCain, who not only supported the invasion, but who was out in front of even Bush on advocating this. In October 2001, just weeks after 9-11, he was stating his support for an Iraq invasion on the David Letterman show.

go look at the history and what Joe biden said at the time…and how quickly he said it was a mistake.
then go look at the days after 9/11 and Mccain calling for war with iraq then.
Mccain is an unapologetic hawk baffoon stuck in a cold war mentality that comes from generations of military and cold war viewpoints
the same views that got us in this mess.
Biden may have voted and called it a mistake
but
Mccain fought for it and won’t admit after billions and hundreds of thousands of lives gone and debt our great grandchildren will be living with and China getting new oil from it…
that it was a mistake.
try please try to tell me how that is a smart guy who should be leading us….
between that and picking a VP who has absolutely no knowledge ofr grasp of any of these issues facing us…
McCain’s judgment has proven worse than anyone could have realized.

This is fantastic, the more the left and its MSM attack agents smear Sarah the stronger she gets. Notice how over a weekend with all the smears Sarah completely trumps Obama’s silly little Roman Temple speech. Also, consider all the millions of dollars Obama wasted to get those ratings. I love it when a liberal burns money. Then, to add to the Obama’s pain, John McCain completely smashes all expectations. Now see how the MSM are falling over each other trying to work out what just happened! :)

84,000 is NOT a large number in a population of over 300 million. That is only about 0.028% drop! I am sick of the media lies trying to make it sound like we are worse off than we really are.
Hey Dem, she won’t be indicted because she didn’t do anything wrong. She had every right to fire that commissioner for any reason. It is a non-issue but those that oppose her will do anything to keep pushing it.

Vice Presidential Picks…Simply Put
If Obama died tomorrow and the Dems and the country were forced to bump Biden up to the top of the ticket…They’d work with that…
If McCain’s age caught up to him and he died tomorrow, would the Republican’s be comfortable with Palin bumped to the top? Would the country be comfortable with that?
Let’s get serious folks, put the personal hate comments back inside, and face reality. She hasnt done one interview or freestyle answered any questions. I was a Democrat. I quit the party for two reasons. One reason is President Carter. America suffered painful humiliation under the leadership of President Carter and his twisted policies in the Middle East and his appeasement of Iranian Mullahs and his refusal to take military action against Iran when they held hostage our great men and woman 444 days and humiliated them in front of the whole world. Americans should never ever forget that.
Obama is the reincarnation of President Carter. As long as a Republican President in the Whitehouse, no Iranians will ever raise their hands against an American.
The other reason is Abortion. Obama is the ultimate sponsor of killing innocent children of America, especially the African-Americans. The absolute aim of the Planned Parenthood is to reduce the number of African Americans under the pretext of Choice.
He is working with them so closely and flooded the TV and radio with the message of fear so that the current killings of innocent children can go unhindered. This is a human tragedy. No one ever win by killing innocent children. What kind of a leader will incite the killing children. If killing more children is “change”, then America, please think again.

DL, Governor Palin is running for VICE President…even so, she is much more qualified than Obama who is running for PRESIDENT. Gov. Palin has 8 years executive experience (2 of which were as Governor of the state that produces 20% of our energy resources). Sen. Obama was a senator for 6 months only before he started running for President. Running a campaign is NOT executive experience. When he chaired t he Annenberg Challenge, he doesn’t even know how he spent $49 million. Gov. Palin has passed 2 state budgets already.

DL,
You are claiming that she can’t speak for herself and needs to be told what to say…FALSE. That is Obama who cannot speak off the cuff. He needs cue cards and teleprompters to sound good. Without them, he stutters and stammers so bad you can’t follow him. Then he makes stupid gaffs like seeing dead veterans or visiting 57 states, etc.
NOBODY told Gov. Palin what to say or do when she started her political career that ended up placing her in the top position for the State of Alaska with an 80% approval rating.

JC; If Gov. Palin’s executive experience is so special and she has 2 more than Obama…I guess that means she is more experienced than John McCain as well right? What executive experience can he boast about? Or are you going to just bring up the POW thing too, like he does every f’ing day. Look, dont try to say she is more qualified than Obama because of that Mayor/Governor stuff because I dont remember McCain doing either. But I forgot, the McCain supporters look at it from one side. Obama has been on the campaign trail for two years, yet he can’t get his facts and answers straight in a interview. He either does not answer questions or flip flops.
Sarah Palin should be given some time to carefully study all the issues before the questions. We know that Obama did not to that. Flip, flop, flip, flop, huh, what, I didn’t mean that, that is not what I mean, flip, flop, duh, hum, no. Eleven years running and still not well informed.
Posted by: Mary | September 5, 2008, 12:39 pm 12:39 pm
The longer they keep Palin bottled-up and away from answering all the questions swirling around her, the more it is going to work against her. Every other candidate has had to stand up before the nation and answer questions. Why are they holding her from doing what others before her have done? What are they trying to hide?
Posted by: Doc DB | September 5, 2008, 12:39 pm 12:39 pm

Palin is no reformer. Three of her very own pork barrel projects were slammed by McCain HIMSELF. She left a tiny town millions of dollars in debt after becoming mayor with a surplus, she hired a large lobbyist with links to Jack Abramoff for a very small town to earn $27 million in earmarks.
Alaska earns more earmark money per citizen BY FAR than any other state in the US.
She was for the bridge to nowhere until it became politically impossible, and then she backs the ‘road to nowhere’ instead. She is a liar, starting from the first 650 words of her introduction to America.

Simply stating the facts of it. You’re free to make a judgement yourself, but at least be informed before you do. That goes for saying “has NEVER came out with specifics on what he plans to do if elected” – it’s very detailed on his website and in many of his speeches. If you’d look you would see it. Posted by: SandyB | September 5, 2008, 1:51 pm 1:51 pm
It is a shame the Obama did not pick the most qualified VP candidate. Guess he knew that Hillary Clinton would out-shine him in every way. He picks a drunk with a big mouth from the Washington establishment.
A former Clinton supporter now voting for McCain/Palin.

Mary:
And the most ironic thing about your post is that McCain DID pick a running mate who now appears to be out-shining him in at least some ways, and he couldn’t be happier….
Just goes to show you who the most self-assured and confident presidential candidate really is……
Posted by: SandyB | September 5, 2008, 1:56 pm 1:56 pm
SandyB: That doesn’t change the fact he couldn’t stand up for his own choice of VP without buckling from the GOP. It’s his choice, he can choose who he wants or go with who his advisors want. The same for Obama. But don’t pretend McCain is still some kind of radical reformer maverick.
And especially not Palin, she’s even less of a reformer, as seen by her record.
Posted by: mos | September 5, 2008, 1:57 pm 1:57 pm
No, the “radical” in this race would be McCain’s opponent, with his VP choice a close second (or third)…………
Posted by: SandyB | September 5, 2008, 1:59 pm 1:59 pm
SandyB: Again, aside from the fact that Palin is outshining him is not actually a good thing for him, the fact that she’s giving the ticket a boost now doesn’t negate the fact that he didn’t have the guts to stand up for himself on that choice. I’m sure he’s happy in some respects, and I’m sure he’s nervous about it in other respects. They won’t let her out in the wild because she isn’t “trained” enough. She’s a blank slate who will be taught to speak what they want her to, and they’re clearly not letting her speak without being “trained” first.

The employment rate has been posted higher today. I would have liked to see both candidate say they are closing our border to illegal immigrants and criminals. The illegals should be sent back home and their employers should be stopped. Neither Obama or McCain seems keen on helping the American unemployed workers with up to 20 million illegals in this country. No illegal immigrant workers equal more jobs for our citizens.

Seems to me anyone should serious question a Presidential candidate whose own running made said during the primary that he lacked the qualifications for the job. I can’t help but wonder about Biden’s convictions also when he so quickly changed his criticism of Obama to praise when it meant a new job opportunity for him.

`The “ALL AMERICAN TICKET”???
But Palin wanted Alaska to secde.
She has always been a member of the Republican Party, true, but for a time she & her husband’s were memberse member of the Alaska Independence Party, a party committed to “Alaskan Indepedence”, to secedssion from the United States of America.
I’ll accept that McCain may put country first (though I don’t think that is as true as it once was).
Palin? She could care less about the United States – her entire political career, from its early days to her present run for VP has been devoted to one idea – PUTTING ALASKA FIRST.
Is she against earmarks? Not if they go to Alaska.
Palin isn’t a patriot, she is an “Alaskan Nationalist”, if such a thing is possible.
How is that all-American?

What did Gov. Palin say when asked if she wanted to become VP? Don’t remember?
Think about it. And then try to tell me Palin is an American Patriot. She is not. She is an “Alaskan Nationalist” willing to consider secession from the United States of America, ir possible (while a member of the Repubican party, Palin & her husband were ALSO members of the Alaskan INDEPENDENCE party for a couple of years).
If secession proves impossible, then she sure wants to make sure Alaskans get as much federal PORK as they can grab.
As Mayor of Wasilla, she hired a lobby firm that secured $27 million dollars in federal monies for a town of 5,500 residents?

“Gov. Palin is a reformer & fiscal conservative”
This is a line we’ve heard from every talking head in the Republican spin-machine, from commentators Rove, Fred Barnes, O’Reilly, Hannity to conservative politicians like Huckabee, Giuliani – Even McCain himself.
They must be living in a bubble.
When Palin was Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, a town with a TOTAL population of about 5,500 residents, she hired a lobby firm to help secure federal grants for her little town.
They DID indeed help.
She managed to secure $27 million dollars in federal PORK for a town of 5,500.
That’s around $5000.00 for each individual man, woman, and child in the town.
For a traditional family of four (two parents, two kids) that comes to….
an astonishing…$20,000.00 per family.
Since Governor Palin and her family counted as members of that 5,500 and she has four children, we can calculate she secured $30,000.00 for her own immediate family in federal PORK.
$20,000.00 per family in federal money.
$30,000.00 for her own family in federal money.
In my town, we pay for our own libraries.
YET she, and all the commentators pushing her candidacy have the unmitigated GALL to tell the rest of the country that Democrats are the big, wasteful spenders, that democrats want big government.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, I think Republicans have lost their minds.
Do the numbers.

My friend, look at the state polls, not the national polls. Obama in a LANDSLIDE. National polls mean nothing, it’s all electoral so if you believe the polls at all, when you break it down state by state, Obama is WAY out in front. I think Nov. 4 will be an early night, which will be nice for McCain…he can give his concession speech and still be in bed by 9 p.m.

As I was listening to O’Reilly last night interviewing Obama, it was apparant that Obama was at a loss most of the time for words. O’Reilly kept drilling him and wouldn’t let him off the hook. Obama stuttered and stammered like an old jalopy! O’Reilly even mimicked Obama’s stuttering in response to the surge question.
Obama is a fake and is a liar. There is even word out today that he may be getting ready to drop Biden from the ticket and replacing him with a woman. Obama and his camp didn’t expect the appeal and support Palin has brought to the Republican ticket. Like I said earlier, Obama is imploding…it won’t be long, November 4th will soon be here and he can go back to Chicago and Trinity Church!

Look closer, you leave out the states that are leaning democrat versus republican. Yes, 13 is the difference for the states that are obvious. But Obama is actually ahead in one of the Dakotas and Indiana. This is unheard of, as both went heavily Republican in 2000 and 2004.
Also, the community organizer comment is going viral. Small towns live and die by community volunteerism. There are ads being prepped for battleground states. She will be hung with those words.

I don’t think so. The DemWits are taking the community organizer comment out of context…but, the Republicans are used to that. She wasn’t putting down community organizers, but the fact that Obama has forced that issue down our throats for 18 mos.
What we have here is a woman, who has energized the Republican base and is now spilling over to every person in American. Look at Oprah today, she is getting MAJOR flack for not having Palin on her show. Even Oprah’s most staunchest supporters are disowning her because basically, Oprah is racist in favor of Obama.
All of this is playing into the GOP’s hands and I love it. Again, last night, Obama stammered and stuttered with O’Reilly, and its going to get better next week when the rest of the interview is shown. You see, Obama has been the media “darling” for too long and now even the media is sick of him. Sorry, DemWits, but looks like McCain is the one to bring CHANGE to the White House this election year!

I love how they have put down Obama supporters for months now for falling for an empty suit and a speech. When he was actually someone we had followed for months through test after test before we started voting.
Now they are falling for an empty skirt and a speech filled with hate and cynisism.

I do think by Monday it will be tied or McCain a bit ahead. However, once Palin’s “misstatements” get more press coverage (and they will), her favorable rating will go down and people will realize she is just another corrupt politician.

About an hour ago I called out all fake “American Patriots”, all the “McCain-a-trons” who assert that McCain/Palin is somehow the “All-American” ticket.
I asked “What was Sarah Palin’s ONLY question about the job, a job she admitted she did not understand, when asked in an interview if she wanted to be Vice President?”
Your silence speaks volumes. Since you don’t seem to know your own candidate, let me tell you.
One month ago, Larry Kudlow of CNBC’s “Kudlow & Co.” asked Palin if she was interested in being on McCain’s ticket mate.
Palin’s answer? “As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me WHAT IS IT EXACTLY THAT THE VP DOES EVERYDAY?”
Pretty dumb, huh? Who in their right mind even considers taking a job, ir they don’t know what the job requirements are. That kind of answer would get you laughed out a job interview at Burger King.
But that’s not all, here’s something I find just as troubling.
You McCainatrons say she is patriotic? I beg to differ.
The rest of her answer is revealing…
Palin: “We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, ESPECIALLY FOR ALASKANS…”
That’s her entire political career in a nutshell. That’s all Sarah Palin has ever cared about, from before she ran for Mayor of Wasilla (she was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a movement that wants Alaska to secede from the United States) to what she would want to accomplish as VP.
She’s not interested in the United States and the problems this country is facing, her interests start and end at the borders of Alaska!
That’s why all we here now from her is that we should be drilling in ANWAR.
More jobs for ALASKA – and screw the rest of the country.
She’s no American Patriot, I don’t think she;s really much of a Republican,
she’s an Alaskan Conservative Populist, and that’s all she is.

I don’t know why Obama Supporters are so upset about Palin using a teleprompter.
It is well known that Obama cannot give a coherent answer to anything unless he is reading from a teleprompter. He even reads from teleprompters at townhall meetings, although the MSM won’t report that little fact about The Messiah.
The one thing we found out about Palin is that she is able to talk and make sense if the teleprompter isn’t working correctly which is what she did when giving her speech at the convention.
No one knew there was teleprompter problems because Palin kept right on going as if she was still reading from it. Unfortunately for Obama, he does not possess that “talent.” :D

“Pull the hook out of your mouth. The AIP membership lie has been debunked.”
=========================================
I’ll pull the hook out of my mouth, if you pull the oil-drill out of your brain-pan.
The story is “disputed” by the McCain campaign, but – call me a free-thinker – somehow I don’t trust the RNC to give me a full account of Sarah’s political career. I don’t think they could if they tried…they are only learning about it themselves for the first time this week.
So, call it “disputed by the McCain campaign”
for another view, consider this…
1. It is established that Gov. Palin’s husband AT THE TIME Todd Palin WAS a registered member of the AIP. That’s a fact.
2. [A] former AIP official — Mark Chryson, chairman of the AIP from 1995 to 2002 — tells ABC News that “Palin was at the [AIP} convention in 1994. She was there."
[The reporter asks] “Was she a member?”
And reports….
Chryson can’t say. “She may have been, I do not know,” he says. Their records don’t go back that far.
“Ask Sarah,” he suggests.

Who is Palin to insult Obama”s accomplishments and the intelligence of the voter. More than 18 million people voted for him. Millions of individual voters have contributed to his campaign. It would take a hundred years of every vote in Alaska for Palin to rack up that kind of record. Who is this lightweight Palin to cast stones at Obama?? We are just learning like McCain who she really is. She is a creationist, anti-environment, denier of global warming, extremist evangelical who fired a city librarian for resisting censorship. She is a double-talker who fought for huge earmarks for her tiny town. She appointed a man convicted of sexual harassment to be in charge of Public Security. She is a hypocrite who attacked Hillary as a whiner and now wants to ride Clinton”s coat tails. She has no real education and these attempts to give a strident abuser of political power (Troopergate) credibility through The Big Lie will backfire and sink McCain. His judgment is on the line and he failed the test. If by some horrible turn of luck Palin/McCain win, then even God will not be able to save this country.

First of all, Teacher, thank you for correcting my english.
I have been reading a lot of these posts and there are so many people that have been brainwashed by the leftwing politicians. We all know that the left likes bigger government, thats no secret, so the bigger the government the more money will come out of our pockets. This is a very logical statement. And here is an example. The state of california can’t still balance their budget even with the great, smart Schwarzenegger running the show. The simple answer is that the 4th biggest economy in the world has TOO many state agencies! Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and Biden will do exactly that, create too many government agencies. Our taxes are going to go through the roof!
Second of all, everybody bashes the economy and blame the President. How childish. They don’t understand that in capitalism you have economic cycles, it is part of nature, there are economic booms and economic busts. Just read about facts. What fascinates me is the power of US and that is what capitalism is all about. Lower taxes works!!! United States had the recession of 2001-2003, the tragic events of 9-11, two wars, the hurricanes, the real estate meltdown, mortgage meltdown and the financial industry meltdown, and these events have affected millions of people, no doubt. But despite all this, United States is still standing and the majority are still working, and productivity is up. Any other country in the world would collapse after all these events. Let’s be grateful.

Machiavilidiot, since she didn’t want to tip her or McCain’s hand early, don’t you think it would have been really stupid to talk about the VP spot back then?
And just WHAT is the job of the VP anyway? It don’t amount to a bucket of spit, UNLESS it can help energize the ticket and propel the main candidate into the presidency.
Sorry, I forgot. Politics and strategy are above your capabilities, and pay grade.
Since you probably hadn’t gotten out for good behavior yet, the economy was BOOMING the last six years. UNTIL the democrats took over congress and made sure that gas cost the average American a week’s pay to fill up.

I just love how the left CONTINUES to hammer Bush for every ill on the planet. Bush is not a dictator. Congress has WAY more influence.
In case you idiots on the left haven’t noticed, Pelosi and Reid have been running their NEW DIRECTION CONGRESS since 2006. Oh, I so remember the euphoria on the left when they came to power. Odd that the mainstream media doesn’t talk about how great things are now that Democrats are running the show.
I think we just found out which DIRECTION they’ve taken us in the past two years: STRAIGHT DOWN. Way to go, fools! You VOTED FOR IT!! Well done! You must be proud.

Landshark, you are so right. It is fascinating how quickly Sarah Palin came under attack before she had a chance to say a word. She didn’t go to an Ivy League school, doesn’t drive a Prius, carries an NRA card instead of a NARAL card, etc. Therefore, she can’t possibly be an intelligent, confident woman. Listen up, all of you snobby liberals. This assertive woman from Alaska might attract just enough votes to the Republican ticket to send Barry Obama back to his community organizer job.

Hey David, if you read WSJ couple of days ago. During this Worlwide Economic dowturn. US has done been compared to even Germany and Japan and other countries. I don’t have the stats now the source was from IMF.
The Mortgages crises was due to Mortgage brokers and lenders getting too greedy, and some off the liberal buddies of Mr Hussein Obama have benefited from the Donationn from Some of these lending Institutions.
It is very convenient of Mr Hussein O to Blame the Repubs party while liberals cronies profited from the lending Abuse. Most of them could’nt afford to buy the high priced Homes and qualified by faking their incomes and Now the Tax payers have to bail them out. Which demographic is involved, Guess?

OK,
is there any way for everyone to be more civil? And can we stick to the truth? Lets drop the Obama talking points? Here is the truth. Obama has no qualifications to be president. Zero. So he wanted to name Biden and avoid naming Clinton. Clinton was treated very badly. Obama played the questionable caucus deal into a win.
Now, all over the nation people are sending them money and showing up to work. They ran out of signs on Friday Morning. My own polling results show a land slide for McCain. We are talking 44 + states.
Now before you loose your cookies, I was dead on the 92 within .5% between three people. The present factor is the NRA folks who have gone wild for Palin. The Women many of whom have never voted for a conserveritive! They are moving in rapid order to McCAin/Palin.
Right or wrong just stay with the facts. And remember I was the first to pick Palin! So I told you so…now you have read the above get on with it I willsay I told you so in 58 days.

John 1:23: “He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, MAKE STRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD…”
Which ticket better represents Evangelical Christian family values?
Ticket A:
President: child of single-mother, raised by step father, has step-sister who spoke at party convention, happily married to his first wife, they have two daughters.
Vice-president: tragically lost first wife and infant daughter in a car accident, two sons from that first marriage survived,
remarried five years later, still happily married, one daughter from second marriage.
Ticket B:
President: twice married. Began seeing first wife when she was still married to fellow cadet officer, married her after she divorced, adopted her two children, they then had a third. Divorced first wife AFTER SHE WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT & became disfigured, began playing the field, then started dating a woman half his age, while he was still married. Divorced first wife, married second – a wealthy heiress – after agreeing to pay first wife’s hospital bills for the rest of her life. Married younger heiress one year later. Has had three children with second wife, and adopted fourth. Second wife publicly claims she is an only child, in fact she has two half-sisters, one from her father’s first marriage, one from a “prior relationiship”
Vice-president: married to high-school sweetheart her entire life, five children; fifth suffers from down’s syndrome – this infant born in 44th year of candidate’s life, just a few months before deciding to run for VP. Unwed, teen-age daughter is five-months pregnant with first child.

Obama has been running for President for two years, during which time he put together this highly touted staff of THREE HUNDRED policy advisers.
Then Russia invaded Georgia, and Obama was asked for his opinion. And his initial lame answer was that “both sides should use restraint.” Only San Francisco liberals think both sides are equally culpable in a war.
When that flopped with the public, Obama’s next attempt to was to suggest a meeting of the U.N. Security Council. Even though Russia has absolute veto power there.
In the end, Obama was forced to migrate closer to McCain’s forceful position.
That’s the caliber of the “leadership” you get from Obama, after two years in the spotlight with hundreds of advisers on his payroll.
So let’s be fair about this: What would Obama have said about the Georgia crisis if it had occurred just one week after he announced his candidacy, as is the case with Sarah Palin? Without his hundreds of advisers to back him up yet?

Why should I be interested in her if you don’t even seem to be?
As to voting for McCain? I’ll give you one last chance to change my mind. If you can tell me WHY WE WENT INTO IRAQ, and WHY IT WAS WORTH IT. In other words, why McCain was right, and Obama was wrong about going to war IN IRAQ in the first place, I will seriously consider voting for McCain.

As a European, I am in love with Sarah Palin, for the person she is, for what she has done in her life, for what she believes in. Wow, what an amazing woman!!!!! I am so happy becuase she is going to be a great role model, and a good chance of being the President one day! She is more than capable of running this country. Power comes from inside!
As for McCain, hats off to him, experienced, mature, has great judgement, is right on track with all his policies, a hero, and above all what a great human being!

mos:
Obama’s pick of Biden was forced by Russia’s invasion of Georgia.
For months, Obama had dismissed the idea that his ticket needed foreign-policy gravitas; he said his own “judgment” proved otherwise.
Then Obama botched his response to the Georgia crisis. The public sided with McCain’s forceful position over Obama’s initial wishy-washy position. And McCain started catching up to Obama in the Rasmussen polls, finally nearly drawing even with him.
That’s when Obama panicked and decided he needed an “old greybeard” for his running mate to reassure the moderate voters that he could be tough on foreign policy too. And that’s how Biden got picked.

Perhaps it would help if folks would learn just what the Constitutional duties of the Vice President really are.
His or her job is to preside over the Senate and occasionally cast a tie-breaking vote. That’s it. That’s all of it. (Unless the President must be replaced, in which case the VP becomes the President.)
The only reason why some folks think that Vice Presidents do more, is that certain Presidents have given them extra work to do. Bush and Obama were both largely ignorant of foreign policy, so Bush has his Cheney and Obama has his Biden. But McCain doesn’t need an older wiser mentor to advise him. He already is one.
A better model for McCain-Palin would be Nixon-Agnew. President Nixon handled foreign policy by himself. He sent VP Agnew out to attack liberals and the media. I figure President McCain will use VP Sarah Palin the same way: As the administration attack dog and lightning rod. While McCain acts bipartisan. If he needs more advice on foreign policy, he’ll ask his Secretary of State.
And judging by what we’ve seen this week, Sarah Palin can more than handle the job of attack dog.

Niccolo:
Here is the original reasoning behind our invading Iraq. This is what the neo-conservatives believed about Iraq as far back as the late 1990s, before 9-11.
First, the neo-conservatives had a theory about fighting terrorism. They believed that all major terrorist attacks had to be state-sponsored–if we could figure out which states were doing it. They believed that so-called non-state actors like al-Qaeda were mere smokescreens for various enemy governments whom they believed were America’s main enemies. And they strongly suspected that Saddam was one of these enablers. They had some flimsy evidence that Saddam had something to do with the first WTC bombing in 1993 and other terrorist acts too. The CIA rejected this theory, but the neo-conservatives still believed in it.
http://tinyurl.com/xfab
Secondly, the neo-conservatives also had a theory about America’s role in the world. They believed our reputation had been damaged by Vietnam and the failure to topple Saddam in the Gulf War of 1991. So they believed we had to get rid of Saddam once and for all to restore our nation’s mojo.
http://tinyurl.com/bszym
So you put those two theories together, and we invaded Iraq.

I’m not sending you to DailyKos to “verify” disputed facts, don’t send me to “timeswatch”. Its a waste of my time.
At some point, we may learn that Gov. Palin was NOT in fact a member of the AIP. When we learn that with reasonable certainty, I’ll stop pushing the idea.
But we won’t learn that FACT from any information through the right-wing propaganda site you’re linking to.
In the meantime, I’ll stand by my “revised” claim, which I think is based on the best available information:
Gov. Palin had close ties to the AIP, she attended a conference where she praised there goals effusively
She may in fact have been a member (while simultaneously holding membership in the Republican Party).
Her Husband was a member.
The governor’s membership is disputed by McCain operatives, but asserted by some officials in the AIP.

Reasons for attacking Iraq? VIOLATING terms of surrender from first gulf war, NOT complying with at least thirteen UN resolutions re first gulf war, TO dismantle a number of terrorist training camps within Iraq – which we did. FORCING the terrorists to PUT MOST OF THEIR EFFORTS OVER THERE. INSTEAD OF … OVER HERE – WHICH APPEARENTLY HAS WORKED SINCE WE HAVE HAD NO ATTACKS ON OUR HOMELAND SINCE 911!! AND…. TO CREATE A STRONG BUFFER AGAINST IRAN’S PLANS TO TAKE OVER IRAQ,

The basic point, LandShark, is what’t the point of “yellow cake” if you have no oven to cook it in?
“We were almost all wrong” on Iraq, Duelfer [a Bush Appointee!!! for pete'sake]told a Senate panel yesterday.
And later in the same article:
Nuclear Weapons
Despite the U.S. intelligence judgment that Iraq in 2002 had reconstituted its nuclear weapons program, Duelfer reported that after 1991, Baghdad’s nuclear program had “progressively decayed.” He added that the Iraq Survey Group investigators had found no evidence “to suggest concerted efforts to restart the program.”
There was an attempt to keep nuclear scientists together and two scientists were discovered to have saved documents and technology related to the uranium enrichment program, but they appeared to be the exception.
…Duelfer concluded that his team “uncovered no indication that Iraq had resumed fissile material or nuclear weapons research and development activities since 1991.”

Maybe you foreign guys never heard about the REAL story behind WMD… Hussein, before he was hanged, admitted to planting those stories about WMD in order to keep Iran from attacking Iraq. IT WORKED TOO WELL – everybody bought it – not just the US. THAT IS WHY THE “BUSH LIED – PEOPLE DIED” STUFF WAS JUST A BUNCH OF GOBBLDEGOOK!!

LandShark:
Even it it should turn out that she was never a member of the AIP, I’ll stand by my conclusion that her entire political career can be summed up in two words (and they’re not “country first”).
Her entire political career is summed up in the words “Alaska First”.
She is not going to Washington to clean up Washington, she’s going to Washington to see how many billions she can funnel back to Alaska.
First in her agenda is “drilling in Anwar”.
Last in her agenda is “drilling in ANWAR”.
ANWAR is her entire agenda.
She said so herself in that famous interview with Larry Kudlow.
“the first thing I’d want to know (before accepting the job of VP) is
(drum roll)
WHAT”S IN IT FOR ALASKA.
She has never shown any interest in any other subject.
She is an “Alaskan Conservative Evangelical Populist Demagogue” who happens to also be a member of the Republican party, but whose interests, horizons, and political vision is entirely limited to what happens within the borders of the state of Alaska.

Hussein Obama is a disciple of Marxist Saul Alinsky and yes, a convicted felon DID help Hussein and “I Hate America” Michelle purchase their home. Hey, Hussein, if you’re really so smart, why not release your LSAT scores? Publication of them will remove any and all doubt that you were an affirmative action admittee to the Harvard Law School…or not.

–Why don’t you be an equally good-sport and retract your claim that the yellow-cake removed from Iraq had anything at all to do with a nuclear weapons program–
You’re the king of strawmen.
Please point me to ANY claim I made that Iraq had a nuclear weapons program.
TIA
As for the WMD issue, let me point out that EVERYONE believed he had them. EVERYONE.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/wmdquotes.asp
The Times ran their correction which said in part: “After checking the party’s archives, Ms. Clark said she could find no documentation that Ms. Palin had been a member.”
So much for her Alaskan nationalist views.
And for the record, “Alaska First” is pretty much what you’d expect from a GOVERNOR OF ALASKA, right?
I am off to other things. Good luck with that reading comprehension course you so desperately need.

She’s not ruinous, just a bad pick and bad strategy by McCain to go from “experience” to “change” on a whim. Who knows what they stand for anymore – I’m not sure they do at this point. Vacant Obama-like platitudes of full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

1. Only one of your two links works.
2. There is nothing about Obama in the WSJ article
3. The bill wasn’t about “secession” it was about tribal re-organization.
Sen. Akaka wanted to allow Hawiins to vote on a bill that would have allowed them to reorganize Hawaii along tribal lines – no different from what Navahos, Hopis, already have under the U.S. Constitution.
You can call the bill stupid, but it aint secession, its re-organization, and entirely constitutional. In fact the idea of native American “nations” withing the United States enjoying their own sovereignty is an well-established tradition.
I’m not sure what you’re up to here. Don’t you know the U.S. Constitution?

Well….
I am rescinding my offer to vote for McCain any one of you McCainatrons could tell me why we went to war in Iraq.
No one has.
You don’t even know do you.
So, I’ll tell you why. Pres. Bush genuinely thought that Saddam Hussein had WMDs (I, for one, do not doubt his sincerity on this point).
In order to pressure Saddam Hussein to allow weapons inspectors full & free access to any possible weapons caches or weapons development facilities he threated invasion.
Hussein was dragging his feet, making it difficult for inspectors, the U.N. was not being helpful, etc.
Bush threatened invasion in order to put some real teeth into the demand that Iraq open up.
But here’s the rub. There was no urgency about getting Hussein to open up. Its not like anyone thought he would have a bomb in a year.
Bush’s mistake was to set an artificially premature deadline for invasion. No doubt he thought Hussein would cave to the pressure. Hussein did not cave to the pressure, so
IN ORDER TO SAVE FACE, BUSH INVADED IRAQ,
in order to meet an artificial, unnecessary deadline that no one but Bush HIMSELF SET.
He could have, and he should have given Hans Blix more time, we would have found out what we needed to know.
Why did Bush set that particular deadline? Because he thought we’d be in and out before 2004 and he’d win the election as conquering hero.
The deadline was keyed to the next election cycle.
That’s why we went to war in Iraq.
That’s the kind of cynical leadership Republicans continue to offer this nation.
So, long…

Manitu: It is bad strategy – McCain would’ve won easy with someone else. When her luster and distraction fades, you’ll understand my point. The #1 issue is not “change” (McCain got suckered into this dumbly) but the economy. So maybe McCain still wins, but it will be much closer now. She’s mobilizes the left base too much; he’s given someone for them to vote against.
Posted by: 1percenter | September 5, 2008, 7:09 pm 7:09 pm
I watched both conventions and witnessed history.
Barack Hussein Obama is smart and has a great personality but he is not believable and cannot be trusted. Obama “HOPES” we won’t notice how many times he has “CHANGED” his mind. He has based his entire campaign on lies. He has too many ties to terrorists and anti-Americans (Ayers, Rezko, Said, Farrakhan, Pfleger, Wright ['God Damn America'], etc.). If you are the leader of a country — or a business for that matter, there are no “present” votes — That’s how Obama voted most of the time. He worked 142 days in the Senate and spent the rest of the time running for president. Obama will bankrupt America — especially with his capital gains taxes. His death tax will hurt our children and grandchildren. No one is experienced on ALL issues; however, he is not experienced enough ON ANY ISSUE to run this country. Obama is unqualified and unfit to become Commander-In-Chief. In fact, his association with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, among others, would prevent him from getting the security clearance needed to enter the military as a private. HE HAS NEVER SERVED OUR COUNTRY!
Joe Biden does have political experience. If Obama wins, he will be the puppet and Biden the puppeteer (vie Bush/Cheney). The only difference is that Biden doesn’t know when to shut his mouth or turn on his filter! In the debates, Biden himself said Obama was not prepared to be President and that it wasn’t a position to “test drive”. Biden was right — we do not need a president in training! Obama knew how his own colleagues felt about his inexperience.
The Honorable John McCain has worked for our country for all of his adult life. He brings years of experience. He has proven he loves our country enough to die for us! John McCain is a Hero and true American Patriot. He has shown his integrity. He is genuine — A man that I trust. As for his choice of Sarah Palin, she has a lot of good points herself. As one Proud American, he gets my vote!
Sarah Palin is smart, accomplished, believable and likable. She brings a breath of fresh air and offers change we can believe in. She has more executive and leadership experience than any candidate. She is governor of our largest state. She crossed party lines to do what was right for Alaska and will do the same for the United States of America! PALIN IS A STRONG COMBINATION OF GRACE AND STRENGTH. I have no qualms about stating that SOME DAY, Sarah Palin will most assuredly be the first woman President of the United States!
COUNTRY FIRST! THE HONORABLE JOHN McCAIN IN 2008 !

I am also a volunteer for the McCain camp to post and stir up trouble in places like this to intimidate Democrats.
I really am a normal guy who collects vintage toy robots in my spare time as well as a conservative Gay Republican.
I will do whatever it takes to put McCain in office, whatever it takes!
Posted by: Jim in OH | September 6, 2008, 12:08 am 12:08 am
I am fed all the links I post by my supervisor, who in turn gets his feeds from thousands of other volunteers who search the net for this sort of incendiary content.
I do it because it’s fun to stir up trouble and no one can find me here in the Columbus region of Ohio.
In fact, even my Gay Democratic friends have no idea I do this. My lover thinks I will vote for Obama like him in Nov.
Posted by: Jim in OH | September 6, 2008, 12:09 am 12:09 am
I started doing this because until recently I never even voted. When I finally registered to vote, it was like being a born again Christian. You know, holier than thou and all.
I am actually tag teaming with a few other posters here who in turn pretend they are Democrats who become convinced of my rhetoric and concede point after point I make to them.
I do this because Obama does the same, except not as well as we do.
We have about 20 posters here alone who fire up drama back and forth, pretending to be stupid Democrats who pale in comparison to the Republican posters. The idea is to make the Dems look stupid.
I work 15 different blogs and boards with my team.
We all happen to be on the Gay Republican coalition. This was our way of volunteering our efforts
Posted by: Jim in OH | September 6, 2008, 12:09 am 12:09 am
In fact, I am not always me. Other members of my team use the same names to post so it looks like we are always here.
This way we are dominating the board round the clock, even when I am sleeping or at work.
I am going to the vintage car show near here tomorrow with my lover. You wouldn’t know it was me if you saw me!
OK, enough of this chatter, let me go back to being the idiot you all know and love.
Actually, it’s time for another member of my team to take over now, so goodnight y’all!
Oh, one more thing, does anyone know how to repair a musical drummer toy robot?

McCain voted with bush 90% of the time — that is more than almost anyone in congress. He was proud of that record only a few months ago — now you don’t hear him mention it so much.
And he thinks he is offering change? I don’t think so.
Bush has turned this country into a disaster. McCain would stay the course.

Sarah won’t answer questions on issues??!! There must be a parallel universe. Getting a concise answer from Obama is like trying to nail jello to the wall. Vague platitudes laced with disdain for this great country. He’s a liberal therefore “nuanced”, pfft!
I wouldn’t mind so much if the democrat platform was honest about their socialist agenda for America. Last week Carl Marx’s own son expressed that his father would be proud of the way Obama has implemented Marxist ideals in his campaign and vision for America. The media has committed an unforgiveable crime in covering for this dangerous candidate.

Folks like Street are easy to counter.
Sure, McCain voted with Bush (CAPITALIZED you bimbo) 90% of the time. So did most democrats. The problem is democrats won’t allow bills to even come up to do good things like GETTING MORE OIL TO BRING GAS PRICES DOWN. That alone would bring the economy up and produce more jobs.
Change? How is it change when Obammy picks a 34 year senator with hairplugs?
Country in a disaster? Last I looked we were safe in this country, won the war in Iraq, the unemployment rate was still lower than Slick Willies, and idiots were still allowed to post drivel on a public blog. Gee, you would think that the Patriot Act would stop all of this.
Donations from the military? Can you post a link to that? And I don’t mean http://www.icanbstoo.com.

The left party are liars and crooks!! They have made the American people believe that the President is a bad person. The President is a true American and loves his country. He has a different vision than the left has, so he gets downplayed so you vote against his party. HELLO!! WAKE UP AMERICA, DONT GET BRAINWASHED. This is called false propaganda. If anybody understands politics, then you will know this. The left is only doing this to get your vote. That is why they use the biased media to help them to get your vote.
Same thing with the oil companies. They make you believe that oil companies are bad, again a way to get your vote. Oil companies have less profit margins than most companies, for example Microsoft’s profit margin is twice as much as the oil companies. Just like any other business, there are cycles, in the 90′s it was the tech sector, and this decade it has been the commodities turn, so yes the oil companies have higher profits. This is called capitalism. The left hates globalization.
Oil companies are good because they provide everything we have and use in our lives. They create globalization!!!!Now, if any oil companies are performing illegal and fraudulent activities, then they should be punished, just like the Enron executives.
Another thing that the left does so to get your vote is that they always say that the rich are getting richer. If you think about it this is a poor man’s way of thinking, and that is what they teach the American people. First of all, the rich will always be rich, under every party, unless they screw up personally. We should be happy of the wealth of this country and that it is getting wealthier.
Second of all, every move that rich people make, they create jobs. When they buy mansions, they create jobs, when they buy yahts & planes, they create jobs, when they start a business, they create jobs, when they make investments, they create jobs, when they buy real estate, they create jobs, and so on. Rich people don’t hide their money under their pillow, they put it to work, thus CREATING JOBS!!!
Sadly, many people have been brainwashed, about everything, the economy, the war, our energy sources, global warming (this summer was not even warm, people please understand that most climate change is a result of the orbital eccentricities of Earth and variations in the sun’s output!!!!)…..
For example, Al Gore has already made 100 million dollars from his “global warming policies”. That is a lot of money. So, what was the result, did he save us from global warming, or he just took OUR MONEY??????
I do understand we have to protect our environment, but to come up with some BS theory and make speeches collecting our money. CROOKS!!!!!!

Niccolo, I think you are an idiot.
First of all, her question is legitimate. There is no list of constitutional responsibilities for the Vice President. The Constitution only states that the VP takes over from the President when he/she is incapacitated, and also serves as the President of the Senate, and can only cast a vote in the case of a tie. After that, it is strictly up to each individual President as to how the VP gets used.
Second, suppose the CEO of your company asked you to be her assistant. Would you immediately say “Yes”, or would you ask about salary, job responsibilities, assignments, benefits, etc. The fact that Palin asked about these things shows she is NOT stupid; the fact that you expected her not to ask indicates that you ARE.
Of course, the last sentence might be too complicated for you to figure out. Maybe you could go to your local elementary school and ask the kindergarten teacher to let one of her students explain it to you.

Everyone,
You are being duped by an imposter. My name has been hijacked (which is easy to do here).
I’ll be back to make my points but under a name. I am using 7 different names here right now.
So from here on out, if anyone sees “Jim in OH” as a poster, you know it’s not me. I’ll post this message in other places as well.

If Palin was the lightweight all the liberals are trying so hard to paint her, they would be sitting back like the cat that ate the canary.
As it is, they are freaking out, looking for all sorts of phantom faults, hoping against hope they can find something wrong with her.
When McCain chose Palin, the liberals did you know what and then sat down in it.
I love it. What fun to see them like this.!!!!!

I am NOT part of the McCain blogger team trying to stir up trouble on the boards.
I am NOT Jim in OH, or any other similar names that help my team recognize other members of our blogger cadre.

Finally,
I am not against Obama because he is black. My boyfriend is black too.
I am a gay conservative. I think women should have the same rights as men.
We don’t do abortion, so they can’t do abortions.
I do not believe in Gay marriage either. Marriage makes it too hard to drop one lover for another.

Palin, the vice presidential nominee and governor of Alaska, came out swinging, criticizing rival Barack Obama for initially opposing the troop surge in Iraq, and, as the McCain campaign has repeatedly said, not admitting that it worked,
This is not about the war that we had no business fighting. We need to hear about the issues and you Republs don’t get it. She is a HITLER in a dress!

There was a Get Smart episode (I know, I’m dating myself here) where Max was taking a Rohrshach test. Everything Max looked at was “a boy and a girl kissing”, or some variation. When the shrink says “You seem to be obsessed with boys and girls kissing” Max says “Me? You’re the one with all the sexy pictures”.
Whenever I see a post like “GL”, I think along those same lines. Everyone to the libs is HITLER (Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, Wolfowitz, etc., and now even Palin). Obviously, just like in the Rohrshace test, this says a lot more about the libs than it does about their targets.

The economy? Funny, it was doing great until democrats took over congress and started “fine tuning” it. Now they won’t give us more oil to lower gas prices.
Who can affort to go to Walmart when they have to spend a week’s pay to fill up? Who can afford drugs, oops sorry, …..
Mindless idiots can’t see that what goes on in Iraq has an effect on us here. If we pull an Obammy and pull out, we will lose all over the world.

Okay – a little common sense here from a grandma who has been following politics all my life:
1. It is about the economy in a lot of ways. Can you libs admit that the economy has tanked more since the dems took over congress in 2006. And what were gas prices before they took over? About $2.00 cheaper.
2. Sarah Palin was NEVER part of the group that wanted to secede from the US.
That has been confirmed by the leader of that party. But that correction probably needed huge glasses to be seen in any of the msm reports. Even so, when Alaska agreed to join the union the US government agreed to certain things – a promise which they did not keep.
3. Palin has certainly hit a nerve or Obama would not be so upset. She is every woman in some form or other. Is Bidden every man. Not hardly. Never held a job in the real world, never ran a business, not even a 7-11, never met a payroll. And a news flash: lots of men AND women commute daily to a job in the city and return home at night.
Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air. Throw Bobby Jindal, governor of La.,into the mix and you are staring at the nwext generation of Ronald Reagan Republicans.
No wonder you liberals have to try and kill the Palin “surge” – but it won’t work. The normal people have her back.

Linda and others,
I’m contacting ABC News to see what can be done about this name hijacking issue. The psychopath that hijacked my “Jim in OH” name has hijacked others. I’m in information security. He can be traced.
I’m going to urge that they implement a name registration system like the other ABC blog and record IP information. That way, if nuts like this continue to cause problems, their IP provider can be contacted and they can be blocked.
Anyone who knows me here knows that I would never write in such a crass, outrageous way to incite others. I have a very unique writing style that looks nothing like the imposter’s, and that’s true for others here as well. This moron seems to be going back and forth hijacking different people’s names, making them seemingly attack each other. He’s a mental midget. In fact, some of the phraseology he uses is laughably sterotypical and designed to exploit to do nothing more than anger people and pit them against each other. It’s beyond the pale, but that’s where we are.
The real shame in all this is that this is a forum for the discussion of ideas. This is what makes America great in my mind. Attempts to discredit the integrity of other posters who have dissenting opinions for the sheer purpose of agitation is sick.
One thing is clear. Some Obama supporters will stop at nothing to stifle dissenting opinion of their candidate. Nothing. So just know that and question posts that look nothing like the user you’ve interacted with in the past. Everyone has a very unique style, and this idiot’s is nothing like mine. He has the intellectual capacity of rock.
I’ll likely check out for awhile or maybe post on a more secure blog. But know this, agitators. You will NOT stop dissent against your candidate. You are powerless to do it, even as you smear the rest of us.

I love people attacking McCain for being on his second marriage, seeing his current wife while still married, or whatever. Which is worse…seeing one and marrying her, or staying married to a repeat adulterer, getting oral sex in the Oval Office, Dolly Kyle Browning, Gennifer Flowers, Elisabeth Graycen, bimbo eruption committees. You might not want to go in that direction, unless one set of morals applies to libs and one to conservatives. WMD – found, 2 tons, and shipped to Canada about 3 months ago where they will use it to make energy. They bought the yellowcake, and they will use it for energy purposes. It was found right outside of Bahgdad. Didn’t get much play in the media. I also love people attacking Palin’s hairdo, clothes, glasses, etc. To paraphrase the old lawyer saying… when you can, argue the facts, if you can’t argue the facts, attack the opponent. My son has lived in Alaska for the past 12 years and they love her up there. As governor, she’s cleaned up more corruption in 2 years, than the previous 3 administrations. Her husband’s DUI…that was 22 years ago. Anybody have a problem with Al Gore’s son’s DUI just before the 2000 convention? Nope. Mostly pity and that it was a private family matter.

The Obama camp is not going to like this but the race is definitely TIGHT.
A more Obama-leaning CNN is officially declaring :
“According the latest CNN Poll of Polls, Obama now leads the Arizona senator by three points, 45 percent to 42 percent. Last Thursday’s Poll of Polls showed the Illinois senator up by four points, 47 percent to McCain’s 43 percent.
The latest CNN analysis of several recent surveys DOES NOT include any post Republican National Convention tallies.
“While the race appears to be tightening up a bit, it’s worth keeping in mind that we still haven’t seen any polling conducted after the Republican Convention,”
This is closer than many pundits are making it out to be … never rule out the MAVERICK / REFORMER combination

The last thing Obama needs now is a scandal on his VP …
Already the poll numbers are not looking good …
AND ..
On the international front …
With a Resurgent Russia and the likes of Medvedev today reported to be saying “THAT RUSSIA MUST BE RECKONED WITH”, AND a SURGE STRATEGY is that succeeding in IRAQ; there appears to be an unfortunate conspiracy of events that is working against OBAMA and his game plan.
On a domestic front …
On Palin. even his campaign strategist, Axelrod admitted “I can honestly say that we weren’t prepared for that,”. Obama camp is in a little disarray. Biden, a loose cannon, is relatively mute, threading carefully and hoping for surrogates to do the attack dog these days.
A New Game Plan / Plane is in order to stop this slide

John McCain and Sarah Palin have my vote. I can’t believe the vindictiveness of the supposedly inclusive, big-hearted, open-minded Democrats in these comments. The left will tolerate any diversity save that of thought. She’s a conservative, therefore to liberals she is “trailer trash.” She is being investigated, therefore she is guilty. Her daughter is pregnant, therefore abstinence education is a failure. Clinton sexually abused interns….wait a minute….moral standards don’t apply to the left. Sorry.

The idea that many Republicans are comparing Palin to Obama is laughable. Let’s review: a former beauty pageant queen with a degree in communications from the University of Idaho, 1.5 years of experience as governor of a state with fewer people than Dayton, Ohio, and prior experience as Mayor of a village of 6,500 vs. a former community organizer with a law degree from Harvard who has worked as a constitutional law professor, a productive state senator in one of the largest states in the country for 8 years, and a U.S. Senator for 4 years is laughable. And, just for the record, “no experience” Obama has done the following:
Illinois State Senate:
a) Led sweeping, bipartisan ethics reform;
b) Led an effort to expand health care to 150,000 people (that’s 1/5 the size of Alaska);
c) Led an effort to pass the Earned Income Tax Credit;
Senate (and, to those who say Senator Obama has spent all of his time running for President, somehow he has also achieved the following):
a) Passed the most sweeping Congressional ethics reform in history;
b) Led a successful effort to improve the medical care provided to our noble veterans
c) Fought against so-called loyal-vet McCain to EXPAND the GI Bill so that our brave vets have a chance at a better future through education when they return home;
d) Led the fight for legislation to reduce the number of nuclear weapons in the hands of rogue states and actors (somehow more impressive than commanding the Alaska National Guard as governor of Alaska where, at best, she’s authorized to deploy them to dig Anchorage out of a big snow storm)
e) has traveled extensively internationally PRIOR to this campaign, and, at this point, has met with the leaders of most of our major allies in Europe and the Middle East;
f) Spoke out against the Iraq War when it was unpopular to challenge the Bush administration (and when Sarah Palin was still presiding over a village smaller than my high school);
h) Challenged Bush and McCain to focus on real threats to our security in Afghanistan and Al-Queda instead of costly, Bush-created threats in Iraq;
i) Developed a nuanced foreign policy based on engagement as a first principle, and force as a last option. After mocking him for arguing for the importance of engaging Iran to reduce their nuclear threat, the Bush administration is now doing just that!
Not only do Obama’s achievements stand up to those of McSame, who voted with Bush 90% of the time, they dwarf those of Palin.
Let’s review here: Former Mayor of a town of 6500 who has been Governor for 1.5 years being compared to Senator Obama, who has been in state and national office for 12 years. Senator Obama has already influenced and helped to shape domestic and international dialogue on U.S. foreign policy, and his positions have been proven right on Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran. Laughable comparison.
The Republicans are shocking in their bravado, which is why they nominated Dubya twice! People voted for Hillary Clinton because she had REAL experience and credibility, and McCain insults them by picking this neophyte. Her record of independence from the corruption of her party is admirable; her abuse of her authority to punish her ex-brother-in-law was not, and sounds awfully Karl Roveian.
Ladies and Gentleman, Sarah Palin is NO Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama has my vote. He has a better record on women’s issues than this feaux-feminist, “Trophy VP” nominee, who opposes a woman’s right to chose and saddled up with a candidate who voted against equal pay for women and the Family Leave Act. McCain picked her after meeting/SEEING her ONCE over much more experienced women like Kay Bailey Hutchinson in Texas and Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina. Those two must feel like the disabled wife whom McCain left for his current trophy wife (whom he recently offered to enter in a nude beauty contest in exchange for the the votes of some biker dudes). Women of America, this is a slap in the face. I’d rather wait until Claire McCaskill, Kathleen Sebelius, or a number of other MUCH more qualified Democratic women have their chance (and think Obama will pick one of them as his VP for his second term).

Yep, Sara Palin is no Hitlery Clinton. She never DODGED SNIPER FIRE IN BOSNIA like Clinton did.
She never had to “stand by her man” because he had raped women and walked around with a boner.
I like Kay Bailey and Dole, but these two and the other women are not dynamic, young, vibrant. They are in the twilight of their careers. Sarah Palin is the FUTURE of this country, like it or not.
So, she is not experienced enough? Just a State Governor. Guess by that assumption then Jimmah Cartah, Bill Clinton, and George Bush didn’t have enough experience either. They served as presidents with as “little” experience as her.
I think I hear the sound of “sour grapes”. I would be whining too if McCain had picked someone like Hairplug Joe.
Thank God he didn’t.

Why do people refer to Sarah Palin as trailer trash?
Posted by: nickelflipper | September 6, 2008, 11:01 am 11:01 am
Anna,
Can you be specific on which efforts Obama “led” because my understanding is that he did not initiate one piece of legislation but may have attached his name to legislation that was written by other senators. This would be easy to believe since as head of the Harvard Law Review he authored not one article for the Review which is highly unusual and also his efforts as a community organizer, as Obama himself has admitted, didn’t amount to much.
Palin has, among other things, to her credit getting the natural gas pipeline going – which had languished for over 30 years in Alaska because no one could get all the parties to agree on how to go forward – until Palin came along. This is part of the reason for her huge approval ratings.
Palin has my vote.
Posted by: SuziQ | September 6, 2008, 11:17 am 11:17 am
I don’t think Palin’s ever taken furniture from the White House. It can’t be because her daughter is pregnant, because Obama’s mother was pregnant and unmarried. It can’t be because her husband had a DUI 22 years ago. It’s not like his car went over a bridge and a woman other than his wife was left to drown. It can’t be because she’s from Alaska. I thought we are all Americans, no matter what state we are from. It’s not because she didn’t write her own speech, at least she didn’t plagarize it, or plagarize someone else’s life. Besides, all the politicians have speechwriters. Even Obama. It can’t be because she goes to church. Obama belonged to the same church for 20 years. Is it because she has 5 children? Nancy Pelosi has 5 children. Is it because she has a son that’s a soldier and is off to Iraq next week? Joe Biden got several deferments and finally was deemed ineligible to go to Vietnam. Yep. He got as many deferments as Cheney. I don’t think they live in a trailer, but I didn’t think a mansion was a prerequisite to run for office in this country. A log cabin used to suffice. Is it her big hair? Yep. That must be it…her hairdo. She’s not qualified to be vice president because you don’t like her hairdo. So if Sarah changes her hairdo, does that mean you’ll support her? I thought the democrats were the party of tolerance. Of group hugs. Who would have thought they were so superficial as to attack the way someone dresses. How she wears her hair. Her glasses. Her family. If her daughter had chosen to have an abortion, would that have made libs happy? If Sarah had chosen to abort the Down’s syndrome baby, would that have made her a better person in the libs eyes? I just don’t understand the personal attacks. By the way…wasn’t Bill Clinton’s upbringing pretty rough? Does that mean he’s open to personal attack from you libs. Obama did booze, blow and pot. Is he being personally attacked by the libs? He has switched his views on the surge. Does that make him a flipflopper or just astute?

If we would drill our own oil and build nuclear plants and mine our own coal we would have a lot more jobs here and the economy would improve exponentially because we would actually keep more US dollars in the US and the cost of energy would go way down further benefiting all the US citizens. It’s really a no-brainer – except for the obstructionist Democrats in Congress.
Apparently they want to inflict misery on us and then claim that they are the ones who can change it.

I heard about the surge on the radio, too. Yobambi voted against it, and Joe the nutcase was telling a pointless story at the time.
Speaking of the Messiah of Change, his vp has been sponging off the people of the US since I was a sophomore in high school in ’72!
“Change you can believe in” is sounding like the same old Marxist claptrap the Dims have been shoveling for years.
As far as the economy….both Barack (arab for beloved) and Joe Biden were in the Dem controlled Senate for the last few. Oooooops!!
Whose fault?? Sounds like the do-nothing Congress…..
Obama did, however, pass one bill. It sends millions to Africa with no oversight. And, he signed on to other folks ideas to boost the idea he was working at the time. wow.
What an empty suit. He has less experience and ideas than does the bottom of the Republican ticket.

All that nonsense about ethanol, bio-fuels and solar energy is a lot of bull.
It’s a no-brainer that if that stuff were true, we’d already be using it.
It’s just another load of lies by the obstructionist Democrats to keep the oil, coal and energy companies of America out of the loop.
Another lie perpetrated by the Democrats is that these so-called alternative energy sources would create even more jobs than the oil and coal companies.
How is that possible that alternative energies create jobs when to make ethanol, you just need to plant some sugar producing plant in the soil. There’s no work there. God does all the work making it grow. The same holds true for wind and solar. There are no jobs there either. God does all the work!
It’s obviously a no-brainer that with alternative energies, there’s no profits for large corporations and Republican investors.
Obviously another deviant Democratic plot to socialize America.

==The Obamatons are really…really scared of Palin.==
Yes, they are. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be resorting to the lowest, most vile rhetoric.
They’re laughing now. However, in 59 days — almost a number of states Obamarama thinks are in the Union — they will be crying.

nickelflipper,
You ask and answer your own ignorant questions here. Nice logic.
It’s pretty obvious that no one likes Sarah because she’s a fake. Her policies are absurd and her demeanor is separatist.
Trust me on this, the Dems are mad as Hell about McCain because he chose her instead of someone they could have agreed with enough to vote for him. Now they are stuck with Obama!
We all lose now, Dems AND Reps.

Mr. Incredible,
Does that make you happy that the Dems will be all upset, rabid, angry etc. instead of united with the rest of the Americans?
Great concept. We need more people like you so we can have at it with each other instead of accepting the next president, Rep or Dem and working to make America better.
Country first, isn’t it?

De-nial ain’t a river in Africa, but it’s the only explanation for Republican convention I witnessed. Lies, innuendo, viciousness. They don’t admit of a world so unlike their own that they must close their eyes to it. Palin ready to govern US? Denial. Running on Bush redux platform while posing as an agent of change in Washington? Please! You insult our collective intelligence. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. We won’t get fooled again.

Well, news organizations have reported otherwise. She has energized and secured the base, and, now, McCain can concentrate on moderates and independents.
==… because she’s a fake.==
She is as genuine as can be. Quite the opposite of Liberals.
==Her policies are absurd…==
We understand that you are scared. You should be.
==… and her demeanor is separatist.==
Whatever that means.
Anyway…
Gee, as long as we’re talkin’ about secession…
Did you know that NObama supported a bill by Hawaii U.S. Senator Akaka that Akaka admitted could have let Hawaii secede from the Union, hmmmm:

In the following tidbit, where it tells us who supported the bill, it says that Clinton and NObama did:

The Dems made their bed. Let them sleep in it.
However, in the spirit of reconciliation, we welcome them to change their minds, and vote for McCain.
==We need more people like you so we can have at it with each other instead of accepting the next president, Rep or Dem and working to make America better.==
I didn’t start this conflict. The Dems did, back in the early ’90s. Gephardt, Begala, Bonior and the bigmouth Carville started the modern-day version of the vicious attack.

Not to the Dems.

We are trying to tell them what to do to preclude that. They reject our advice.
It’s like a parent telling a child not to do this, or that, and the child rejects that advice and goes and does what he wants. He gets hurt. Well, the parent told him what to do to avoid that hurt.
Now, if Dems choose not to unite with the rest of America, nothing I can do to change that.

==It’s like a parent telling a child not to do this, or that, and the child rejects that advice and goes and does what he wants. He gets hurt. Well, the parent told him what to do to avoid that hurt.==
Good analogy, sort of.
Let’s look at it this way now for the current state of affairs.
Let’s suppose Mr. Incredible’s mom (I know, some here think you were spawned in a river or raised by wolves, but I know your mom raised you well) asks Mr. Incredible to turn off the lights in his room.
Mr . Incredible responds by stating that Elastigirl’s light is on in her room too.
Does Mr. Incredible’s mom;
A – Agrees with Mr. Incredible and allows him to keep the light on
B – Get’s into a pointless debate with Mr. Incredible that lasts for hours, all while the light is still on.
C – Tell Elastigirl to turn off both lights.
D – Tan your fanny for justifying your own mistake by pointing out someone else’s.
Come up with solutions that unite, not galvanize positions at opposite ends.
Winners always tread the high road – that’s why they’re winners.

Palin does not have questionable associations like Obama does. Palin loves America. Obama, on the other hand, attends a church for more than 20 years that hates non-blacks and hates America. Hillary even pointed that one out. Palin loves family, Obama doesn’t even help his half-brother in Kenya that lives in slums. Considering this point, why would Obama be for the poor when he doesn’t even help his own flesh and blood??? But, nooooooooooooooooo, none of you want to ask yourself that question because you are ”color blind.”

The reality is that an excessive portion of the voting public abstains. Not from sex, from voting!
Why? No Middle Ground!
They don’t like the extremism of either party!
Most Americans are somewhere in the middle. Moderation is the correct balance in life AND in politics.
We get a few extreme ends of the spectrum arguing and implementing dogma, and the middle-roaders steer clear.
I am not a religious zealot, nor am I against religion. I just like God and what he’s done for me and what he represents – a higher power.
I like science for what it’s done for me too, but I certainly don’t want to eat synthetic foods and have my babies come out of test tubes either.
The point is clear. There is a balance that will make the greatest number of people happy.
The problem is that we keep getting Presidents that swear they’ll unite us, but forget all about it come January after the election.
The future of politics has to accomplish a Utopian-like solution to avoid this needless conflict and waste of energy and resources.
Imagine if elections were like the Olympics, where the battle for gold and silver medals happens in the same match.
1st place takes gold, 2nd place gets silver. Fair and just.
Both parties should have a single candidate running for office. The winner becomes president, the loser is the VP.
Sure, right now that’s as crazy as it gets, but one day it will HAVE to be that way. The country divides itself more and more each day.
Not many solutions come to light just yet, but we certainly have a few good heads to come up with some better ideas on Uniting America, again.

Why can’t Obama face the American people and tell us to vote for him based on his views rather than race??? ==… an excessive portion of the voting public abstains… from voting!==
The Right to vote is available. People choose not to vote. They cannot blame anybody else. THEY choose. They must be responsible for their choice.
==Why? No Middle Ground!==
Tough.
==They don’t like the extremism of either party!==
And, yet, only one of the candidates will win. Voters are in the position of choosing the one they like most, or against the one they like least. If, for instance, Republican voters don’t vote, they, essentially, vote for Obamarama.
==Most Americans are somewhere in the middle. Moderation is the correct balance in life AND in politics.==
McCain is, essentially, moderate. He picked Palin to appeal to the base. The base is now energized. Now McCain can go after the moderates and independents.
==We get a few extreme ends of the spectrum arguing and implementing dogma, and the middle-roaders steer clear.==
People make a choice. They ought to be big enough to take responsibility for their choice.
== There is a balance that will make the greatest number of people happy.==
I say Dems
==The problem is that we keep getting Presidents that swear they’ll unite us, but forget all about it come January after the election.==
Then don’t vote and let me do your thinking for you.
== The future of politics has to accomplish a Utopian-like solution to avoid this needless conflict and waste of energy and resources.==
So, you want to limit the elections to moderates. I like partisanship. I like a candidate to stand up. I don’t want a wuss. Moderates never accomplish anything.
==Imagine if elections were like the Olympics, where the battle for gold and silver medals in the same match. 1st place takes gold, 2nd place gets silver. Fair and just.==
What we have now.
==Both parties should have a single candidate running for office. The winner becomes president, the loser is the VP.==
If I vote for president, and he wins, I don’t want the loser to be in the White House.
==… one day it will HAVE to be that way.==
Not while I’m alive and can muster all the energy to fight it.
== The country divides itself more and more each day. ==
Yes, and not everybody likes Buicks — they are so divided.
==… we certainly have a few good heads to come up with some better ideas on Uniting America, again.==
McCain and Palin have called for uniting. The Dems reject. Now what?
Posted by: Mr. Incredible | September 6, 2008, 2:13 pm 2:13 pm
Ron says that we should unite.
Then, after I tell him to go first, tell us how that should be accomplished, he wastes space telling us again that we should unite. He doesn’t tell us how we should accomplish this.
He doesn’t tell us how one party, for instance, who is pro-life should compromise his position to accommodate pro-choice = pro-abortion = wrong-choice and maintain a Godly position.

Ron is annoying and I have a feeling that he is the one hijacking people’s names.
Posted by: The Who | September 6, 2008, 2:19 pm 2:19 pm
I think the best ticket would really be McCain/Obama.
Obama’s not quite ready for prime time but eventually will make a great president.
McCain’s got a wee bit too much political experience the keeps him from being on the mark with the American Public.
If both were on the same ticket, at least 75% of the voters would go with them.
Sadly there’s too much of the “Us against Them” in politics, from the very top, all the way down here on this board, where the insignificant voices of the people are ready to harm each other for the sake of a politician that would run them over in a heartbeat!
Anyone else have a constructive idea?
As much as I love hearing both sides dig into each other, it really goes no where and gets boring after a while.

==Ron is annoying and I have a feeling that he is the one hijacking people’s names.==
He has said that we all should unite. That’s fine.
However, he has yet to tell us how we should accomplish this.
In other words, if he is, say, pro-life, how will he compromise that position with someone who is pro-choice = pro-abortion = wrong-choice?
If he supports, say, the war on terrorism in Iraq, how does he compromise that position with someone who wants the United States to pull out of Iraq?
And, if he wants us to unite, and I tell him to go first, why, in the spirit of uniting, is he reluctant to do this?
See, it isn’t that easy.
Posted by: Mr. Incredible | September 6, 2008, 2:29 pm 2:29 pm
Yeah,
I see where you’re coming from, Mr. Incredible.
It is too fun to stir up the pot and have a little anarchy from time to time.
It must be hard being you, I feel your frustration though. You show an incredible amount of balance in the life you lead, based on your comments here.
On the one end you’re a time bomb, on the other your only trying to do what’s best.
Good luck on that.
As for abortion, as you mention in particular,
No one who does not want one should ever have to have one. The end.
Someone who does, should be able to have one within certain parameters.
I am appalled at third term abortions and those that are already on their 3rd, 5th or even more.
I don’t think abuse of the procedure helps.
However, there are certain circumstances where it is useful.
A classic example are the few posters on this board spewing such venom and hatred like yourself (OK, I’m just joking here)!
If all the people abusing abortion would actually have their babies, most would be Democrats! Imagine the cost of taking care of all those Dems!?!
So you say, “NO WAY”, we won’t pay a dime for them. Survival of the Fittest” and so on.
Well, OK, so they go and starve to death or become criminals, etc. We either have to pay for their jail time or bury them, tantamount to welfare in the end.
Even Adolf Hitler discovered the error of his way, when he realized the sheer cost of bullets was astronomical when it came down to it. Even the cost of cremating the corpses was alarming.
If we follow the narrow road, the only Soilent Green is the answer. Yummy!

==I think the best ticket would really be McCain/Obama.==
Okay, you vote for them.
==McCain’s got a wee bit too much political experience the keeps him from being on the mark with the American Public.==
You mean the “Lib American public.”
==If both were on the same ticket, at least 75% of the voters would go with them.==
So, which one would be the president and which one would be the vice president?
==Sadly there’s too much of the “Us against Them” in politics…==
That’s because there is conflict in the ranks of the citizenry on the top issues. The candidates reflect what’s going on in the rank and file.
So, you have to get everybody down here, in the muck and slime, to compromise their positions. How you gonna do that? Cuz I know that I’m right and correct. Now what?
==… the insignificant voices of the people are ready to harm each other for the sake of a politician…==
If you will take the time to notice, the Libs overwhelmingly are the most nasty on message boards.
== Anyone else have a constructive idea?==
Yes, I suggest you go out and, as an experiment, get 10 persons to agree on abortion. Tell them they must compromise their positions, that they must give in to the other side.
Posted by: Mr. Incredible | September 6, 2008, 2:37 pm 2:37 pm
First off, generally speaking, the name that appears first is the pres, the one after the slash is the VP, as in McCain/Obama.
Second, the biggest division is in the Republican party over McCain. He is trying to make everyone happy in his party and not getting too far.
Third,
Slinging mud never works. It only galvanizes the poles into cementing their beliefs about their own positions.
It’s pretty hard to listen to the other side in a turd storm.
I am not calling anyone names, because I respect myself and others as they deserve.
Hatred is a disease that is not easily overcome. Once you get it, it’s hard to let go of it.
Finally,
The main issue and root of ALL evil here is money – basically that particular part of money we call taxes. Taxes SUCK!
Find a solution to taxes and the rest is easy. War is inevitable, so we will always have to kick ass there. The best way is always the quickest.
Patton was right about the Soviets and China. Now we wait and see…

==As for abortion, as you mention in particular, No one who does not want one should ever have to have one.==
Do you think the unborn child would want to be the victim of one?
==Someone who does, should be able to have one within certain parameters.==
Should those parameters be based on the personhood of the unborn child? The personhood of the mother at the expense of the personhood of the child? Who does the weighing of the interests?
==However, there are certain circumstances where it is useful.==
The unborn child is happy to hear that.
==If all the people abusing abortion would actually have their babies, most would be Democrats!==
And, instead of having to sign up illegal immigrants to vote, the Democrats, if they didn’t abort their pregnancies, could have legitimate voters.
== Imagine the cost of taking care of all those Dems!?!==
The price of life. Is life more important, or is money?
==So you say, “NO WAY”, we won’t pay a dime for them. Survival of the Fittest” and so on.==
I do?? Where?
==…so they go and starve to death or become criminals, etc.==
People make choices. Libs want us to suffer the consequences of their choices. I want the criminals to suffer the consequences of their choices. So, where is the compromise? Where is the uniting on that?
If you are so intent on uniting, you go first on that issue. You compromise first.

Mr. Incredible,
Give a single compromise you can live with.
Try to show some respect for yourself by not calling others names too.
Just because you don’t like Obama doesn’t mean you get to call him Obamamamma, Obamination, Obaminable, Obamaram and so on.
I also dislike the McCain name calling. He’s a good man and deserves better. Both are. We are not really fighting for them here. We are fighting ourselves.
I agree that the Dems are going off on a deep end that gets no where. The rhetoric is getting old fast. Turd storm is a hysterical term for this crap, but that kind of crap happens. So what? That doesn’t justify the few Reps doing the same.
You’re still you. You’re obviously capable of understanding why they feel the way they do. I’m not saying to cater to them, just ignore them.
Come up with a constructive idea of your own that works that you can share here.
As for the comment made about taxes, I kind of agree too. I think some taxes are fine, but not the way either side currently proposes either.
Indys are here too and also are working both sides.
In the end, the art of the compromise comes from both sides.
I haven’t heard anything I agree or disagree with yet.
Posted by: Ron | September 6, 2008, 3:09 pm 3:09 pm
==Give a single compromise you can live with.==
I can’t think of one of the major issues on which I’m willing to compromise.
This includes abortion and homosexuality, as two of the most red meat issues I know. They are vain poppers. No compromise. No surrender. No prisoners.
==Try to show some respect for yourself by not calling others names too.
Just because you don’t like Obama doesn’t mean you get to call him Obamamamma, Obamination, Obaminable, Obamaram and so on.==
“Obamarama” is nothing. However, it has a nice ring to it.
==I also dislike the McCain name calling. He’s a good man and deserves better. Both are. We are not really fighting for them here. We are fighting ourselves.==
And this is reflected in the campaign.
==I agree that the Dems are going off on a deep end that gets no where. The rhetoric is getting old fast. Turd storm is a hysterical term for this crap, but that kind of crap happens. So what? That doesn’t justify the few Reps doing the same.==
Maybe not, but the Libs started it in the early ’90s, and they haven’t let up. In fact, they have gotten worse.
Conservatives haven’t responded anywhere near in kind.
==You’re obviously capable of understanding why they feel the way they do. I’m not saying to cater to them, just ignore them.==
Impossible. Issues deserve a response.
Now, I also understand that Libs are flooding the boards with so much crap, so as to overwhelm and disable opposition. They want to bog us down in endless and useless debate. They want to defuse what harms their candidacy, not with what is serious and sensible, rather with what is insane and stupid.
==As for the comment made about taxes, I kind of agree too. I think some taxes are fine, but not the way either side currently proposes either.==
Well, the only two, main ideas you have out there come from two candidates.
Then, of course, you have the candidates for Congress. Any changes will have to come from the House of Representatives first.
==In the end, the art of the compromise comes from both sides.==
However, I want to be polite and give the other side the opportunity to compromise first.

For the ultra liberal wing radical element, keep it up and continue to spew your hate filled vitriol…rant on, rant on, for it simply turns off mainstream unaffiliated or undecided voters. Sarah Palin represents a very real and serious threat to the Obama campaign…the more you rant, the more swing votes you lose. Zogby already has McCain up by 4 points. As an Obama supporter and life long MODERATE Democrat, for the life of me, I’ll never understand why you can’t present a good case against Palin without resorting to name calling and histrionics. It’s counter productive and will continue to drive more independent into the GOP camp until eventually we lose again !!! End the panic driven rhetoric, take a chill pill, and calmly point out Palin’s weaknesses, in a concise and objective manner, before it’s too late.
