“Most Important Hearing” Ever?
Senator Dodd just said that today’s hearing was probably the most critical the Banking Committee has ever chaired. Some excerpts:
"We all recognize the gravity of the situation…(which has produced) an economic maelstrom." — Sen Dodd (D) Conn.
"I have long opposed government bailouts for individuals and corporate Americans alike. We have been given no credible assurances that this plan will work." — Sen Richard Shelby (R) Ala.
Quick passage of the bill is "the single most effective thing we can do to help homeowners, the American people and stimulate our economy." — Henry (Hank) Paulson, Secretary of the Treasury

Senator Dodd should have a good handle on the mortgage and banking situation since he worked directly with a CEO in his sweethart deal.

“Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson went before the Senate Banking Committee to say that quick passage of the administration’s plan is “the single most effective thing we can do”
Here again, Bush is ramrodding through a government program of collosal negative impact to the nation, with lies and deception about how we suddenly “need” yet another Trillion-dollar expense on taxpayer’s shoulders.
As with the Iraq war – the need suddenly emerges – and we must “act immediately”. No time for thought, analysis, or national debate on yet another trillion-dollar increase to the national debt.
Don’t be fooled again. This is nothing but another one of Bush’s wars. Bush’s “war on Iraq” was really a war on Americans, killing 4,176 of us, and adding a trillion dollars to our national debt mainly so that oil companies might get a foot in the door as Iraq’s future oil producers.
Bush’s second war – invented last week and ramrodded into our wallets this week – is nothing other than another trillion dollars of wealth transfer from the entire American tax base to a very select, very elite, very special collection of Bush’s friends who run Wall Street firms and can’t do without their corporate jets.
Even if these first are “bailed out”, YOU will not keep your home, YOU will still pay $4 per gallon for gas, and YOU will get no benefit whatsoever. Yet YOU and YOUR CHILDREN will pay the taxes on this additional national from now until Bush is long since gone from the white house.
Bush’s army is on capital hill right now calling for “bold, urgent action”.
Please call your senators and congressional representatives and urge them to kill this bailout – before it kills us.

Dodd is vermin. Another old Democrat with nothing in his head by stale air and nothing coming out of his mouth but b.s. Very much like Obama.

Paulson helped to create this mess, he says he has opposition to large CEO payoff’s but he himself has taken them (most recently as CEO of GoldmanSachs) I wouldn’t give him a burning bag of dog pooh much less a blank check – get a grip man , we can’t just bail out the wealthy!
