Questions For Sarah Palin (Cont’d)
As the suggestions pile up — in our in-boxes, on our voice mail, in the pages of the Anchorage Daily News, even in Maureen Dowd’s column in the New York Times — we thought we’d take a moment to thank those of you (483 of you at last count) who’ve posted thoughts for Charlie Gibson’s interview with Sarah Palin. A cynic wrote to say it was obvious that Charlie wouldn’t ever see the questions. Well, we can tell you the following: We’ve read every post; we’ve divided them by subject (interestingly, Iraq topped the list); and we’ve given a stack to Charlie. He — and we — appreciate the input.

Well just don’t give her the questoins befor the interview. Put her on the spot and make her think. Ask her why she even asked about getting books banned.

THis is America and even asking that question should disqulify you from public office.

Why did you say nothing when every right wing pundit, from Rush Limbaugh to Bill O’Reily, chastised Jamie Lynn Spears for getting pregnant at 16 and they said “the parents are to blame” but, now that your own daughter, who was taught abstinence only, is pregnant, suddenly the topic is off limits… don’t you feel this is jus a little bit hypercritical?

Given that two years ago you were the mayor of a town of 6,000, tell America why you think you are ready to be president?

Who cares if Palin has lied repeatedly about her record in every speech she has given?
She looks like the naughty libriarian on Cinemax and I’ll vote for her because of it!

QUESTIONS FOR SARAH PALIN
Did you vote for George Bush? Twice? Were you in favor of starting the war with Iraq? Do you find it inconsistent to praise your daughter’s choice to have her baby but deny that choice to others? Did you ever stand up to the oil companies not just to demand more money for Alaskans but to protect the natural environment that belongs to all Americans?
Posted by: Michael Dieffenbach | September 10, 2008, 12:37 pm 12:37 pm
Ask her questions that a president would have to answer.
Ask her about the issues. She’s running for the second most important job in America. The questions need to be just like those that McCain, Obama, and Biden have had to answer in interviews.
If she doesn’t answer questions directly, Charlie must do like he did with others. Charlie must interrupt and say you’re not answering my question.

I’d like to ask her why, when numerous media outlets and pundits have debunked her Bridge to Nowhere lie, she still hasn’t “reformed” her stump speech in regards to the truth behind the one-liner. The American people deserve better than a one-liner as proof of fitness to lead the country. I’d also call her out on the plane on ebay lie too.

Some Softball Questions for Sarah Palin:
Talk with her about her education, and aspirations for her kids’ education. What does she think of her college experiences, and what educational credentials qualify her for the vice presidency? Does she hope any of her five children will eventually study and graduate at the college level? Boys and girls alike? Would college degrees make them too “elite”?
Ask her about community service. When and for what has she volunteered, for how long, for what reasons, and to what effects? Does she think that Jesus was a “community organizer”, and if not, what is her term for his community role or status? If so, does she think that followers of Jesus ought to emulate him in their own way, or otherwise try to be “points of light”?
Some of us have noted a touching kindness in the way she holds her infant, but an apparent lack of kindness in the content and manner of her speech. Does politics require kindness of anyone, amidst the rough and tumble? What does she think about “compassionate conservatism”, or would she prefer a different term? What has compassionate conservatism accomplished, and what remains to be done? Does she have any positions or plans in this regard? If elected, what levers of power will she have, and will she use, to bring these aspirations to fruition?
If she is all pitbull, well, she is running with the big dogs now, and should be able to answer big dog questions. Is there an axis of evil in the world, and what countries and regimes does she associate with it, and how would she handle them? Does the UN have a role? What would that be?
Some Christian groups have been exemplary in their dogged concern for the Darfur Crisis. What would she do in respect to China’s role in perpetuating that crisis?
What does make a person “elite”? Elitist? Do wealth, country club membership, and multiple homes make a person “elite”? Does a governorship, a Senate seat, or the Vice-Presidency? Which is more “elite”, a scholarship for graduate study, or a $122K seat on a Commission?
What makes a person or group “racist”? “Sexist”? Is it attitudes, behavior, history, beliefs, benign neglect, or overt embrace of certain ideologies? How extreme or subtle does the factor have to be before it counts? Once it counts, are policy efforts required to counter it?
Ask her explicitly why she timed her conversation with you for a 9/11 anniversary. How does she react to ordinary Americans who wonder if she is just exploiting a day they regard as sacred. Does she have something so important to say that it trumps more prayerful observations of this date? If so, is it really just more fear mongering, or is that unfair?

Do you agree with the unanimous decision of the 194 scientists from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) that it is with 90% certainty that mankind is causing Global Warming?
Do you agree with Scientists that the Earth is 4.2 Billion years old and Evolution is how mankind came into existence?
Do you believe that Roe vs. Wade is settled law and a woman’s right to choose is a protected right?
With so many teenage girls getting pregnant, do you still believe that abstinence only should be taught in schools and that absolutely no additional education, such as the use of condoms, should be taught?
Do you still support drilling off shore even though it will only save American’s 3 cents on a gallon of gas in 10 years and no more than 7 cents a gallon in 20 years?

Much has been said that Charlie Gibson will conduct a biased soft interview ,one can only hope that wont be the case as it will only tarnish his reputation as a journalist even further. As David Gergen noted on CNN last night,it is curious that they would ask for the interview on the 11th when her son is being deployed to Iraq. We also wonder why he specifically engaged CHarlie Gibson for the interview? Did they know he will be soft? The voters deserve to have the answers to many unanswered questions. She has yet to prove she is cpable of holding the V.P. office and possibly the Presidential office. The voters deserve to know..so please ask relevant questions, particulalry on foreign affairs & not merely on Iraq.

Does Ms. Palin feel that the United States needs to have a tougher stance against the atrocities in Darfur?
Would Ms. Palin support school boards to have total control over curriculum without federal interference? Such as allowing Creationism to be taught along side or instead of evolution.
Does Ms. Palin believe that God is on OUR side in regards to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Thank you for considering my questions

I really like Charlie as an anchor. It just feels right to seem him at the desk every evening when I turn on the news. However, I fear he won’t ask the questions that really need to be asked. Here are the questions I think he will have on his pad when he sits down with Palin:
1. So, what was it like getting that first call from Sen. McCain?
2. How has your family been dealing with all the excitement?
3. Tell me, what is it *really* like to be a hockey mom, and how is that different than being a soccer mom?
4. Tell the viewers about the role faith plays in your life?
5. Has it been frustrating to hear all the criticisms about you?
6. How does it feel to make history as the first GOP VP candidate?
and on, and on, and on. I think you get the picture. We will have learned *nothing*…book it.

Charlie,
Don’t let her get by on platitudes. Ask her to explain her flip flop on the bridge to nowhere, per diem for staying at home, McCain’s Iraq position and how it differs from Bush or Obama’s, her pastor’s Anti-American quotes, The Alaska Independent Party and her role in it, Alaska’s portion of the federal “pork” she denounces, her extreme anti-abortion stance.
That should get you started.

Given the political instability of many regions of the globe – (North Korea, Iran, Russia/Georgia, Iraq) that could have major ramifications for Americans and the safety of our country and economy, what do you say to Americans that will and should convince them that you as a short-term governor is someone who should be entrusted with the Vice Presidency of the United States? What really qualifies you to be that close to the Presidency?

Distorted facts. The report by 194 scientists on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate did not say with 90% certainty that mankind is causing global warming. That statement was made by a handful of non-earth scientists in the summerized intoduction to the report. The actual report was inconclusive.

Given your previous positions as mayor of a small town and less than 2 years as governer, voters have not voting record to look to in assessing your policy stands.
Where can a voter research your actual experience and positions? For instance, I would like to know why Alaska is charging it’s citizens more in taxes than any other state. I would like to know why you have placed high taxes on oil from Alaska which is sold to other Americans.

THE question to ask Gov. Palin:
Isn’t being on the PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) community organizing?
I was nominated and elected President of the PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization), and I’m VERY proud of my two-year reign accomplishments bringing my local school and community together.
So why bash, berate, and insult what Sen. Obama have done when he literally helped the American people when they were down through community organizing?

For those of you who are expecting a substative interview, just look back at the presidential debate that Charlie Gibson hosted. It was the worse debate questions of all the 22 held. Charlie is a lifetime mediocre journalist. He avoids contraversy. Play it safe Charlie is his name. Look for this to be another scripted speech just like Palin has been giving for the past 10 days.
Posted by: William | September 10, 2008, 1:10 pm 1:10 pm
Ask her about health insurance for everyone, education, the war in iraq, how her religious beliefs effect her decision making. Please, please, do not sugar coat your interview and give her a free ride like she has had so far.
Posted by: Amy | September 10, 2008, 1:10 pm 1:10 pm
Ask her when you are done as the final question:
Do you feel that the liberal media, ours included, has asked Barrack Hussein Obama any of these very tough questions yet in any interview on any station in the last 19 months? Because right now the american people have absolutely zero clue how Barrack would respond to any of the situations with the exception of the armchair quarterback he plays in the senate by voting ‘present’.
Didn’t think so…

Since this interview is taking 2 days, are you going to disclose this to the viewers, or is it going to be edited like a Barbara Walters special? I feel the viewers need to be told that Palin knows all the questions ahead of time, or if preapproved the questions. People will be watching you closely to make sure you are really giving her a newsworthy interview or just a puff piece.

The U.S. has a population of over 305 million people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Alaska’s population is only in the thousands. If you are elected vice president, and if in the event that John McCain dies, resigns, becomes disabled, or is removed from office, how do you find yourself prepared to be commander in chief? Also, please explain your qualifications for such a position.

Please don’t blow your opportunity by throwing softballs. The American people have a right to know where she stands on the issues as well as her past record. We are not buying into these faux sexism charges. We want to see as tough an interview as you would give any man. The media did not give Hillary Clinton a pass.

ABC, CNN are the most biased members of the news media I have every seen in all my 60 plus years.
There is no journalistic integrity, no reporting just the facts. Your reporters unashamedly spout their biases at every turn.
Shame on the lot of you.
Posted by: Jill Mitchell | September 10, 2008, 1:16 pm 1:16 pm
Being a journalist yourself, don’t you find it strange that your party is asking you to be treated with deference? As a woman, how do you feel about being shielded like you can’t take a hit like other men on the campaign trail?
How would you define family values? Do you think it is Christian-like to hold others to a standard but politically expedient to classify the same circumstance as a “personal matter”? Wouldn’t you consider that ideology to be of the Pharisees?
With the high rate of teenage pregnancy, shouldn’t there be another way of reaching out to these kids besides an “abstinence only” program?
Are you aware of the conditions at Walter Reed Medical Facility? With your son going to Iraq as a volunteer, wouldn’t you want the best care for him if he becomes injured? How do you view funding for therapy, mental health, housing, and rehabilitation for wounded soldiers coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan?

Running for Beauty Pageant qualified her for the job of VP. She had to display a great deal of skin, but just enough to be suggestive. She had to continually smile, but not to a level of scowl. She had to say what the judges want to hear in order to win their trust. And finally, she had to fabricate her credentials to appear better than her record actually suggests. Yes, on those points she actually qualifies for VP but not on the points she is touting as her record.
Posted by: William | September 10, 2008, 1:20 pm 1:20 pm
Mr Gibson should be honest with the viewers right up front and tell people whether or not Mrs Palin has been given these questions in advance of the interview.
I believe, that she has. Its probably the only way the would agree to do the interview. I’m sure they have also told ABC which topics are off limits. Apparently the “reps” have been working (threatening) the media pretty hard lately.
The 800 pound gorilla question is what specific knowledge and experience can she describe that she feels qualifies her to be President of the US if called upon to do so.

Question for Sarah Palin:
Of the 21 Republican governors eligible to be Vice President, you rank 17th in terms of years as Governor. Why are you more qualified to be VP than the 16 Republican governors ahead of you, most of whom govern much larger, more diverse states?
Posted by: joe johnson | September 10, 2008, 1:21 pm 1:21 pm
Truth seems a rare commodity. Please no kid gloves with Ms. Palin and remember what she does with soft balls. Be specific:e.g did she become mayor with no debt and leave with approx $20million in debt? There is too much at risk for our nation and our world and who knows when (or if) she’ll give another interview! An active and thoughtful press is critical to our democracy. My suffragette great-grandmother is counting on you!
Posted by: Eve Hoffman | September 10, 2008, 1:22 pm 1:22 pm
I am a woman and I am intelligent and I can hold my own in a conversation. I can only assume that the same goes for Sarah Palin. If John McCain truly picked mrs. Palin because he feels she is the second most qualified person in the whole country for the job of POTUS, then it is your job to make her prove it. Please don’t let her off easy. Please don’t ask about her kids unless you are willing to ask the question the rest of the mothers in America are asking which is: Running the greatest nation in the world is a 24/7 job. How does she plan to give America all the time and attention we need at this critical time in history, and at the same time give her disabled son and other kids the full time, 24/7 attention they need? One or the other is going to suffer.
Please ask about the debt she left Wasilla with, the wind-fall profit tax she/McCain are against that she is apparently for in Alaska. (same thing with a different name) Ask about how much money was lost on the sale of the luxury jet. Ask about the per diem she took while at home and the trips to snow mobile events. Ask about the emails she won’t release and the troopergate scandal.
Please ask tough questions and when she gives an answer that has already been proven to be a lie, please call her on it. That is what journalists do. Americans are trying to decide who is going to run our country. Help us get accurate information so we can make an informed decision.

I would like to see Ms. Palin explain:
–what position she and McCain have on Social Security
-why she had lobbystworking to help Wasila obtain federal funds while she was mayor.
–why she doesn’t tell the truth about her position on the “bridge to nowhere” and her acceptance of fed. funds
–how she can support censorship
–how she and McCain would specifically address this economy which has devasted so many middle-class lives
–what they’d do to improve access to healthcare for those w/o insurance
–who would benefit from their tax cuts

You could try asking her why she is for abstinance only teaching for teens when it’s apparentt it does not work.
Posted by: rethas | September 10, 2008, 1:29 pm 1:29 pm
how convenient to have this the day her son is deployed to Iraq. So they can film the mother sending her son to war with tears in her eyes. She can be a pitbull and a poodle.
Ask her why she billed the state a per diem when she stayed at home.
As a self described Christian, does she have a problem with the political process (having to play the game by lying)
Does she consider herself a champion for womens rights? Does she see a problem with using her sex to ask for “deference”, but at the same time calling herself a pitbull, with the song “Barracuda” playing in the background. Then act “offended” when an often used line that uses lipstick applies to you? So you can be called a dog, shark, but not a pig?

Don’t get side tracked with the McCain camp political spin, make her give honest specific answers to hard issues and her flip flops and how she is different from BUSH and McCain. Posted by: angie | September 10, 2008, 1:35 pm 1:35 pm
Remember that the Republican goal is to turn this election into “personality” instead of a debate on the issues: I would like to know:
What constitutes a “win” in Iraq? Does it include the ability to safely practice your religion? How long/hard would you fight if someone told you you could not worship God? It’s been 2,000 yrs in Iraq. Do you really believe we can win this?
I envision a different country than the Repubs. I envision new neighborhoods with windmills to power the homes around it, and energy not used sold to others with the proceeds used by the people who conserved energy in their homes, providing better services, schools, community centers, day care, etc? Also, the internal combustion engine was patented in 1867. Think of all the inventions that have ratically changed our lifestyles since that time. Whole industries that have been reinvented many times over. Why are we still using this engine to power our vehicles? How many jobs would be created/positives created by demanding a different power for transportation. Why does she want to drill, drill, drill, instead of invent, invent, invent? I own a 2001 truck with 63,000 mi. I don’t ever want to buy another gas powered vehicle. How’s she going to get me a practical, safe, affordable alternative before my current vehicle dies?
Will her daughter, once she marries a high school dropout, have health insurance? You’re the interviewer, ask this as an issue question because it relates to ALOT of real people!
I have one more but I REALLY want this interview to be about issues that will make the world a better place for my children and grandchildren.

Question for Sarah Palin:
Three weeks ago, the nation barely knew who you were, now you are Senator John McCain’s choice for vice president.
You are a young mother of an infant with “special needs” and at the same time expecting your first grandchild.
How prepared are you to run country, if the responsibilities of the president by any chance falls into your hands?
Posted by: Tinuola Omole | September 10, 2008, 1:41 pm 1:41 pm
Her beliefs regarding creationism are of no interest to me. Her stand on religious freedom is important to me. Please ask her to define her stand on religious freedom.
I am MORE interested in her opinion re: the $1 billion sent to Georgia (not the U.S. State, the former Soviet state) and the implications that it is linked to oil field potential.
I am MORE interested in her ideas for over-hauling the health insurance industry.
I am MORE interested in her ideas for assuring every American student that they will find an affordable place at a university. Ask her about the percentage of foreign born students currently being educated at our top schools – - – how does she feel about her children competing with the international community. I assume her kids are college bound.
Ask her what she intends to do to help put Americans back to work?
What about golden parachutes for top-executives.
What about those of us who have managed to keep our jobs but are working in industries with severe cutbacks. Many of us are being asked to take reductions in pay to keep our jobs. Many of us have picked up the extra work left by co-workers who have been laid off?
Ask her how she would deal with Iran if she were president?
She is so appealing as a person, I really like her, then I have to catch myself and say, but she’s not the president.
Ask her how she believes she differs from the current administration in terms of helping the working poor.
Thanks so much. WE are counting on you Charlie.

Mr. Gibson…please place the needs of our country above the politics of today and ask the same tough questions of Gov Palin that we would expect you to ask of McCain/Obama/Biden. We the people are at a great disadvantage since we have less than 8 weeks to figure out who this possible person is that would be a heart beat away from running this nation. It is time that Americans were afforded the opportunity to understand her actual views on important issues! It been almost 2 weeks and to date, we hear the same crafted speech from her lips over and over…..and much of this mantra now appears to be lies. D not betray the American people, ask the important questions and not the fluff that is politically protective of her.

I don’t have any specific questions, I’ll leave that to Charlie. But I think that we will learn as much from this interview about the media, and Charlie in particular, as we will about Sarah Palin. Here is your chance ABC and Charles Gibson: stand up and ask tough questions, fair but tough.
We all know that the Republicans lean toward exaggerations, distortions, half-truths, and even lies, but the media takes it mostly as fact. Sure, you question a bit here and there, but since they issue these “facts” as press releases or in official transcripts, you mostly take it as the truth. This results in a lower “standard of truth” going forward and the media plays into that. All of a sudden, a “half truth” or a “distortion” is accepted as truth, because well, at least it’s not a lie. It’s sort of like going to buy a car and having the dealer start negotiating much higher than the real value. If they start at $30,000 for a $15,000 car, they know that even after you press them and they lower the price, they’re still going to sell the car for $20,000.
Here is your chance to strike equilibrium on the truth. Half-truths, distortions or “their interpretation” cannot be tolerated. No more games, no more spin. Ask the right questions and demand answers!

I would like to know after her comment in the speech about the treatment of terrorists that she scoffed at the idea of “reading them their rights” how she sees the issue of torture, which John McCain has condemned. Also how she views the fact that our allies see this administration as diminishing our crediibility around the globe. What does she think about health care reform? What about the economy and the republican ties to big oil? I don’t care about her hockey mom, moose dressing whatever. This is the real thing and we have had one cowboy too many.

What specific plans does the Republican party have to address the economic situation in this country?
Why do you continually drag your family into the political spotlight? Is it because you have nothing to talk about except them?

I have always liked Charlie Gibson, but I, too, am afraid it will be too much fluff and not questions we need answered; not to mention the fact that all the suggestions have been published on this website for the Republicans to review and prepare her on. I also love “GMA” and hope Gibson’s interview will not sour me on the other ABC news shows. Sorry, Charlie, but I’m thinking we need Tim Russert here for this interview!!!!

Governor Palin,
Why have you continued to potray yourself as a opponent of political pork projects such as the Bridge to Nowhere however, after you stood up against the bridge, Alaska kept the money. Can you explain what that money was used for? Also, why is it the right thing to do (state law aside allowing it), to claim a per diem for expenses when you are at home? Shouldn’t your salary cover your personal living expenses just as it does for working Americans everywhere?

Please ask her what diplomacy tactics she would use if she were required to have talks with Palestine, Iran, China, etc…. So far all we have seen is cutting sarcasm and snide remarks. I think she needs to show us if there is anything else to her repetoire other than bullying people. I don’t think that will get us very far with foreign relations. You have very little foreign relations experience. Since accepting the nomination, what specific steps have you taken to increase your preparedness? Do you think studying foreign relations for 2+ months prepares you for the presidency of the United States?

Personally, I just hope Charlie asks her a questions regarding every single controversy that has been floating around the internet for the last two weeks.
Just ask her the questions, let her tell her side, then let the PEOPLE decide what they think about her answers, not the media or paid bloggers.
This is how it should be.
Posted by: SandyB | September 10, 2008, 2:20 pm 2:20 pm
And, one other thing, Charlie, when she starts playing up the story about her son leaving for Iraq on Thursday, let the public watching also know that Biden’s son, Bo, the Delaware Atty. Gen. is deploying or has recently deployed to Iraq and he didn’t make a big production of it at the DNC; simply said he wouldn’t be here to help his dad out during the campaign and election. I’m sure we’ll hear about her son over and over and over just like her RNC speech. We’ll see if she can be as humble as the Bidens. Doubt it. Not sure that word is in her vocabulary and from what we’ve heard from her so far, she doesn’t have much of a vocabulary either.
PLEASE, AMERICA, PAY ATTENTION THIS TIME!

I hope it’s not too late for this comment to be seen. Is this even the right place? Anyway…
I agree with the comment that the questions should be unseen by Palin ahead of time. I’d further say that there should be at least one question that is NOT plastered all over the mainstream media. Ask how she feels about the situation in Thailand or South Africa or Zimbabwe. Does she feel that we should have overthrown Mugabe?
I’d also suggest that Mr. Gibson NOT simply accept the answers that she gives on each question, but that he questions them where appropriate. If you listen to the BBC you will hear that when a guest gives them a talking point answer, the interviewer questions it and makes the guest explain it. They use arguments from the people on the other side of the issue. When Palin says that she’s going to fight earmarks, I expect Mr. Gibson to pull out a list of quotes from her in support of the Bridge to Nowhere and say, “How can you explain this? What you’re saying simply doesn’t make sense or sound true.”
In the typical U.S. interview the interviewer asks a question, the guest gives a talking point and the interviewer moves on to the next question. It’s like a free commercial for the guest. I know that they’re worried of offending people, and especially the celebrity who might refuse to go back on their show, but they shouldn’t be fearful of that. They should aim for journalistic integrity beyond all else and convince the public that the integrity they bring is worth occasionally not seeing the “big interview”

The U.S. has always led the world in science and technology. The past 8 years the Republican party has led the retreat from science based policies ranging from climate change to cures for diseases resulting from stem cell research. Would you support a return to investing in basic science and expanding federal support for research that could help cure diabetes, parkinsons, alzheimers and other debilitating diseases?
What is your theory of international relations? Would you call your self a realist and if so what steps would you take in dealing with Iran and Syria as part of regional security plan?
Do you believe there is a role in the conduct of foreign policy for threatening the first use of nuclear weapons? Would you be able to order the use of nuclear weapons and under what conditions?
Each of us has an invisible committee of people from history or from our current relations to whom we turn for inspiration, support and guidance. Who are the historical figures or current people who form ‘your committee’?

Questions to Charlie:
Will this be another soft-pitch/no follow-up like your 9/3 interview with McCain, where his factually incorrect answers were left unchallenged?
Or will you be a journalist and ask the probing questions incumbent upon your position as the anchor of World News?
In short, do you want this to be your Diane Sawyer/Michael Jackson legacy, or your moment of parity with Murrow and Cronkite?
The entire world will indeed by watching World New with Charles Gibson, and judging you as much as Sarah Palin.

I’d like to know what she thinks about becoming a national inspiration to millions of American women (my two daughters included). What ideas does she have in making America more competitive? Both in terms of education and economic. What ideas does she have for up-educating people with under-competitive jobs and moving them into more lucrative, better paying jobs? How to encourage Americans that having a job isn’t enough, that we need to be striving for better jobs. How to encourage more Americans with money to invest more in America? If she’s had any time to really think about how’s she’s going to tackle the mountains of corruption in Washington? How serious is she against earmarks in balancing the budget? How important are families in America? How does even a pitbull stand up to the such ridiculously vicious attacks?

1. Do you really believe, as you’ve stated, that global warming is not man-made? What then, is causing it?
2. Can you explain exactly how our military presence in Iraq is a “mission from God”?
3. Why were you holding a t-shirt saying “Nowhere” and voicing support for the Gravina connector if you told Washington “thanks but no thanks”?
4. Why was Wasilla in debt 22 million when you left the office of mayor?
5. Why were you “rhetorically” asking about banning books?
6. Why did you have the Wasilla librarian fired?
7. Why was your husband a member of a secessionist party?
8. How should the US go about securing loose nuclear weapons in the former Soviet Union?

I commend you for all your efforts and your ability to hold office and run a household, I have never ever heard of anyone questioning a man if he is going to be able to take care of his children and run for office. So many just assume that it is the women’s job to take care of the children. Not anymore, it is a 50/50 job for both parents to help raise the children. I have been happily married for 26 years to the same man that I fell in love with in High School. We got married at 18, raised to boys, put them through college, and have our own company. We went through alot of hardship, but never gave up. So many of our family members told us that we could not buy a new home at the age of 19, and we did and we even paid it off before the boys graduated from high school. Thank you so very much for all you have done, not just for your state, but hopefully soon for our Great Country. May God Continue to Bless you and all of your beautiful family.

Two questions:
1. As a mother, if my own family were in crisis, I don’t know if I would continue to teach High School Economics, much less run for the office of Vice-President. How can you explain to the American public that you are for “Family Values,” yet are leaving your family for extensive amounts of time to campaign? My understanding of “Family Values,” would put my children before my career.
2. Could you please explain, in your own words, the history of conflict in the Middle East? How does it involve the U.S.?
Please ask both of these and make sure she doesn’t have an ear piece in her head for staffers to feed her the answers.

Ask her how, as a devout Christian, she can reconcile her attacks on others throughout her political career with the idea that you should love your enemy.
Ask her why someone nicknamed Sarah Barracuda should expect to be treated with deference, as McCain’s camp suggests. Ask her if she expects similar deference from Vladimir Putin, Al-Quaeda, the Taliban, Victor Chavez, and anybody else in the world who doesn’t like the U. S.

Please ask Palin how much time she has spent in the other 49 states and internationally in the last eight years. In addition, do you feel that new items, such as the “Sarah Palin Action figure”, as well as the acronym “VPILF”, and signs saying “Vote for the Hot Chick” powered by your increased popularity in the media are demeaning to you as a woman, and overshadows your candidacy for Vice President?

Do you agree with these assertions?

I agree with you on some issues but don’t agree with you on other issues. I have been a democrat my entire adult life but this year will be voting Palin/McCain because I believe that the two of you will make a huge difference in Washington.
You have already made differences in the government (real change) and Obama has done next to nothing. Do you think that is why McCain’s choosing you as VP nocked the wind out of Obama’s sale? Because you are proof that Obama had time to make a difference and he did not.

Question1:
This election will determine the values and character of the American people..
It’s 2008. Does Race and Gender as well as the color of your skin really matter? Are we as a country passed the Race issue OR are the issues presented by both Democrats and Republicans more important to the American people?
Question2: If People side with McCain and Palin instead of Obama and the issues that both sides present PEOPLE could be looked at as “racist” if not voting for Obama. Are Palin and crew prepared for this ? If so what does the McCain/Palin camp say?
Question3: We have seen President Bush make promises he couldn’t keep in regards to helping the people of the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. Four years later things are still un-done. How do you plan to to help them?

Big question.
The republican campaign tends to support school vouchers so kids can attend private schools. Real ugly question: What about special needs kids? Should private schools be forced to take them? A special needs child is much more expensive to educate than a normal child – if everyone is given a set amount of money in vouchers, who should make up the money for special needs education, the parents or society? Its the big question of many or a few – if an autistic child costs $100,000/year to educate, but we only spend on average $5k/child, would be better off spending that $100k on “normal” children to half the class size. I’m not sure of the answer, but I’m really interested on how school choice proponents answer this question…it a detail that never gets answered.

Tell Charlie to get a back bone on this interview and NOT give Ms. Palin a free ride. I’m sure the entire interview is going to be scripted and the questions submitted to Ms Palin in advance which was part of the ABC agreement. As a woman I could care less about Ms. Palin’s home and the family she exploits when it’s to her advantage. I’m interested in knowing why she’s getting a free ticket on the lies and exaggerated claims she makes on a daily basis regarding what appears to be a serious lapse in memory from the hiring lobbyist Steven Silver, the 23 million plus she requested and received in ear marks, the fact that she not only supported but also debated & defended the “Bridge and the Road to Nowhere” during her 2006 election (even after Sen.McCain condemned it & wanted the ear marked money for Katrina relief in New Orleans)and in 2007 when Ms. Palin apparently had a revelation that the “Bridge to Nowhere” could hurt her future political ambitions only then did she give up the fight and then made sure there was a national news release to document that she wasn’t signing off on the “BTN”. Yet, she still kept the $233 million and used part of it to continue building the “Road to the Bridge to Nowhere”. Also, someone needs to address her lavish spending while traveling on business and charged to Alaska. Why does anyone need a $750 night hotel room and why has she been reimbursed for her children’s travel. And let’s not forget that while staying at home she’s been reimbursed for an allowable daily stipend. And how dare she brag she put Alaska’s corporate jet on eBay yet fail to mention that in the end the state ended up selling it to a resident for $300,000 less than what a broker originally offered the state. Is Mr. Gibson going to challenge Ms. Palin that she is challenging the U.S. Interior Department over its decision to include the polar bear as a threatened species as the polar bears would be an obstacle to drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve that Ms. Palin supports. Is Mr. Gibson going to challenge Ms. Palin’s broad foreign policy experience in light of the McCain’s and teh Republican party’s statements that she is indeed qualified given the fact that Alaska is across the Bering Strait from Russia and by deduction, Ms. Palin is qualified. How dare newscasters allow her to get away with her outrageous statements. If Joe Biden or Barack Obama attempted to continuously give stump speeches filled with half truths and lies they would be ridiculed and called liars by the press.

I would agree that any question regarding the children should be off limits, however I do not understand why her connection to the AIP would be off the table just because her husband is a member. This party is known for it’s views on Alaskan succession, and this is an important topic to discuss considering her ties to the party through her husband (as well as documented evidence that she has attended at least a couple of the conventions). Also, because Charlie asked Obama about his connection to Rev Wright, I would hope that Charlie would question Palin for her involvement with the Wasilla Bible Church (ie Iraq war a ‘task from god’, their connection to Jews for Jesus, and the ‘jesus camp’ like methods used by the church)

Please ask Sarah Palin the following:
Why did Sarah Palin as Governor, not return the $400 million in earmarks back to Washingon, although Washington stated that Alaska could keep the funds?
As Governor, you have not revised any policies to working mothers/fathers who become parents or for that matter who adopted? Is this not important? and why would you indicate that you have been busy tangling other issues?
As a reformer and change agent, why would you complete expense reports and charge the State of Alaska for per diem, your husband’s travel including your kids’ travels to the capital? It was your choice to not reside and continue living in your current city.
Regarding placing the airplane on Ebay, was the airplane sold on Ebay or did the State of Alaska hire a vendor to sell the plane?
As a nominated candidate for VP of the United States, do you feel you relate to women that do not have children by saying that the only difference between “hockey moms” and “bull-dogs” is that “hockey moms” wear lipstick. Do you realize that single woman may also be involved or love the sport of hockey themselves and feel very offensive in your reference of women to bull-dogs?
Why do you feel that God has initiated the war in Iraq? and why would you ask the citizens of Alaska to pray for a war? Remember, God is love and peace and He states in His Word, that in the last days “there shall be rumor and rumor of wars” to indicate the end is nearing – why do you think we all can not live in this world and how would you interact to demonstrate that the US wants to be a change agent of peace with other countries?

I am amazed at the vitriol being displayed by the left wingers on this page. Your hatred is not becoming.
I would bet that every one of the critical questioners was an Obama supporter prior to the Palin nomination, and will continue to be. If you like Obama, thats fine, but you don’t have to be ugly about it.
Also, don’t play the experience card, and expect no discussion of Mr. Obama’s experience, or Mr. Biden’s experience representing a state with a population of 853,000. Biden’s long carrer in the Senate is a guarantee against change, if he has ANYTHING at all to say in the Obama/Biden Whitehouse.
Have a great day.

We need to know whether she’s just a cute puppet or has a mind of her own. So far we’ve seen her read one speech (very well) though smugly…and be a cheerleader for McCain.
What does SHE want for the country. What are the issues that are important to HER (besides “energy”)

Israel, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, China, Nigeria, Venezuala…..What does SHE think?

Did you realize that you seem to love the spotlight even more by being on People magazine and being one yourself now. Did you have up standing morals also when it came to your very own daughter committing fornication in the eye sight of God or did you over look that sin.

I’m guessing you’ll be asking her to explain some things raised here. Just please make sure when asked, you’ve fact-checked that you’re using the correct numbers. The idea of research seems to be lost on a lot of the more, um, “emotional” posters here.
Ask truthful questions, and insist on truthful answers. This applies to all 4 candidates. America greatly deserves to know.

Mr. Gibson, you have indicated that you did not believe that the media was bullied by the Bush administration during the run up to the Iraq war. I’m assuming by your comment that you believe that you and others in the media did their jobs at that time. However now, we all know the types of lies and spin that was put forth by the Bush administration, and whether you believe that you did your job or not, those lies went largely unchallenged by the mainstream media.
Please do not let history repeat itself! Ask Sarah Palin the questions necessary to give the American people the opportunity to learn who this woman really is, without the spin, scripts and talking points.

I would like you to ask Sarah Palin if she is tired of the lies and slander that the purportedly “unbiased media” tell about her. I would like you to ask her if she thinks Oprah is not only sexist, but also racist in deciding that a Palin woman isn’t the “right” woman to be on a show all about women. Ask Sarah if she finds the questions about taking care of the family as sexist as I do. Ask if only women journalists or Democrat women are acceptable to work outside the house. NO ONE EVER ASKED THESE QUESTIONS OF HILARY. Here is one woman who would have voted for Hilary, now voting for Ms. Palin. Thank you!

Coming up with hard questions to pose to Sarah Palin is not going to be difficult. Following up and pressing the issue with her to force her to give direct and responsive answers is what I hope to see Charlie do. Sarah and the rest of the campaign might not like it, as was the case when Campbell Brown interviewed Tucker Bounds, but too bad.
We’ve had 8 years of evasiveness and outright lying. Make her put her sound bytes aside and just answer the questions directly, honestly and clearly.

I am an African-American working mother of two. I am married to my college sweetheart that I have been with for 14 years. I founded a non-profit mother’s support group years ago, work full time in a government consulting firm and owned my own business for a few years. Granted, I haven’t run for mayor or governor but with all the talk of her family, I feel just as qualified to be VP because I’ve heard more about her family (or what she wants us to know when it looks good for her image) than her record of supposed “change”.
My main concern is education and a woman’s right to choose. My questions are: What are your plans to improve schools and lower college costs so that higher eduation doesn’t have to be an unattainable goal?
Regarding your pro-life position, I’m interested to know if you would try to get Roe vs. Wade overturned?

Sen McCain like Pres Bush supports NATO expansion. Do you support NATO expansion? For instance, were Georgia added to NATO and Russia attacked again, the US would be obligated to intervene militarily. Do you really believe US troops, including maybe your son, should fight and possibly die for Georgia?

At the beginning of the interview, please establish if she thinks male and female candidates for these high offices should be treated the same. Hilary Clinton set a high standard – can Sarah Palin meet or exceed that?
Do NOT ask her about the difficulties of raising a family of 5 children, incluing one with special needs.
PLEASE ask why it has taken almost 2 weeks for her to have an unscripted interview.
Ask about the economy, definition of victory in Iraq, how her experience as governor of a small (population) state has prepared her to be the VP.
Ask her what “change in Washington” means.
If she doesn’t answer the question, PLEASE point that out.

I’d like to ask her about what specific economic decisions and policies of the Bush administration would change under McCain.

Ask Sarah if her growing reputation as a spendthrift is warrented.I speak of the fact that Wasilla’s debt went from $0 to $22m by the time of her departure.
Ask Sarah why she decided to spend or give away to her constituents federal dollars that were plainly earmarked for other projects.

We are a nation of minorities, Latin and African Americans being the largest segments. How will you, being raised, educated and curently living in an environment basically devoid of these principle groups, be prepared to lead a multi-cultural nation, with major inner city issues, i.e., less than 50% HS graduation rates, rapant crime and single mom birth rates off the charts?

There’s just as much at stake for Charles Gibson as there is for Sara Palin. His performance will be scrutinized as much as Palin’s.
I suspect we won’t learn very much tonight and I further suspect this will be, as many fear, little more than a softball interview that will further endear her to the right. That she agreed to be interviewed by a specific anchor the day before 9/11 and after days of prepping by McCain’s staff speaks volumes.
Looks like we’ll have to wait until the debates to get some specifics.

McCain’s campaign wants the media to give deference to Palin. Americans demand fairness! Palin has become the poster child for preferential treatment! Americans want answers to the following non exhaustive list of questions:
1. Ask Palin under what circumstances is it ever appropriate for the husband and other family members of an elected official to contact a department head to discuss an employee?
2. Ask Palin if she is such a reformer, why does she allow the Alaskan taxpayers to continue foot the bill for her husband and childrens’ travel? Legal or not, why is it appropriate? Why doesn’t she say what she said she told congress re: the bridge to nowhere, “thanks, but no thank?”
3. If Palin is such a reformer, why did she bill the state for sleeping in her own home for 312 nights? Why didn’t she say what she said she told congress re: the bridge to nowhere, “thanks, but no thanks?”
4. What was the purpose of the “loyalty test” given to the librarian regarding the book banning inquiry?
5. What is her position on book banning?
6. The Judge in her sister’s divorce case determined that she engaged in a witch hunt against the trooper and a pattern emotional abuse toward his children, how does she respond?
7. Since Palin raised her parenting, PTA & hockey mom statuses etc. as progressively responsible experiences that qualify her for veep, isn’t it appropriate to inquire about all of the aforementioned experiences?
8. Since Palin is saying that she told congress, “thanks, but no thanks” regarding the bridge to nowhere, why didn’t she return the money?
9. Will she testify on the record and under oath in the trooper matter?
10. Why won’t she talk to the media like all other candidates?
11. Does Palin believe that she is entitled to deference from the media?
12. Why can’t Americans inquire of Palin re: qualifications, past record, matters of public record etc. without being accused of sexism?
13. Does she believe that it is responsible for any parent (mother or father) to use their children as political props to pander for votes? What about parading her pregnant daughter on the national stage for political advantage?
14. Does Palin believe that parents of special needs children need a friend in the white house or access to quality affordable health care and childcare?

What specifically will be your role as Vice President in a McCain administration?
A few months ago you stated that you had not seriously thought about the details of the Iraq War. Why had you not thought about it at that point, and why should Americans trust your judgment on foreign policy?
On what issues do you disagree with John McCain?
On what issues do you agree with Barack Obama?
What is your philosophy on taxes and spending? When is appropriate to raise taxes or cut taxes, to increase spending or reduce spending?
What are the essential elements of the McCain health care plan?
What is the proper role of the federal government in improving education?
What are the critical factors in improving our economy, and how will a McCain administration address these factors? How is McCain’s economic policy significantly different from the economic policy of the Bush administration?
An independent analysis showed that 80% of Americans would receive an average of four times more in tax cuts under the Obama tax plan than under the McCain tax plan. Why is your tax plan better for most Americans than Obama’s tax plan?
Part of leadership is not only reacting to issues, but foreseeing and dealing with issues before they become critical. What are some national issues that most people aren’t thinking about right now, but that you foresee as being important to the future of the United States, and what would you do to address those issues?

Question for Ms. Palin:
The McCain/Palin team has emphasized “change” in the last few weeks. The primary example of “change” that I have heard, however, has been getting rid of “pork.” While this is undoubtedly an important reform, it seems to me that it doesn’t really lead to the kind of change most Americans crave. What most of us have in mind are well-thought-out, comprehensive policy changes in areas such as health care and education. Could Ms. Palin detail her vision for such policy changes in these two areas?

He should ask her about her supposed ethics reform and how she reconciles her and McCain’s daily lies about the bridge to no where, the sale of the state jet, and earmarks (Alaska has gotten more per capita than any other state). Seems to me that blatant lying should go against these ethics that she is bragging about. How can someone who touts being transparent about what happens in her government, but then refuses to co-operate in this ethics investigation. If you’re innocent you shouldn’t have anything to hide.
Also ask her how she can consider herself ready to lead when she’s not even ready to answer questions from the press?
Also ask her why it’s OK for her to cry sexism when she herself said that Hillary “whining” about sexism did feminism no good?
Ask her about what, if any, policy ideas she has for the economy, health care, and foreign relations.

Sarah: Do you think Barack Obama was making a sexist or derogatory comment toward you when he recently uttered the aphorism, “lipstick on a pig.”? (Charlie: please cut to the full context of comments and run the McCaign “smear” ad.) The McCain campaign has come to your defense and called it a “smear.” Do you think that’s accurate or a valuable use of our very limited time during this election?

I would bet that half the interview has to do with “feelings” as in “So how did it feel to speak to 37 million people?” Typical Parade magazine jounalistic pablum. I swear I will print this out and eat it if Gibson asks anything like “Do you still disagree with John McCaine that global warming is caused by man? How does she feel about Russia bringing Bombers to Venezuela for a Military exercise?
What is her position about South America and the fact that the closest countries to the US have been neglected and are starting go turn away from Democracy and becoming more Socialist states (Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina, Brasil)…
Bolivia today kicked out the American ambassador… What is the McCain government plan to do about South America?
Not everything is about Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. There are very big treats much closer to home…

Posted by: Lily | September 11, 2008, 12:05 am 12:05 am
Governor Palin, despite the fact that Alaskan law forbids the Governor from advocating for or against a ballot measure, you opposed such a measure by saying, “Let me take my governor’s hat off just for a minute here and tell you, personally, Prop 4 — I vote no on that.” – an endorsement subsequently used by the mining companies in their anti Prop 4 media blitz.
If elected, do you intend to “take off your Vice President’s hat” any time the laws of this country inconvenience you?

Charlie,
I have recently been reading commentary suggesting that the press is dead in our country – that reporting fact without bias and discovering truth is rarely, if ever, delivered today.
Please prove them wrong. Be objective and deliver the same tough questions you would to the other candidates. This woman is potentially a heartbeat away from the highest elected office.
We are counting on you to find out if she has the expertise, knowledge and understanding to deliver on all levels. We need to see true, not scripted, character. This circus needs to stop, and soon.

Posted by: Michelle | September 11, 2008, 12:37 am 12:37 am
Has she really, really thought about what it does mean to be the VP or the President of the United States of America? Or does she see this whole thing as just one promotion after another. Does she not feel overwhelmed? How is she going to deal with foreign issues? I hope she has sat down and given all of this some serious thought because there is a good chance she could be President. Because she is going to have to pay attention to the war in Iraq, North Korea, China, India, Russia, Georgia, world disease, US economy which effects the world economy, etc. etc. etc.

Dear Charlie,
Please ask her how she feels about being smeared by the Obama left wing activitists in the internet and media? What is her management style as a Governor? Give us examples that she has reached across the other side to get things done!
If you are going to ask tough questions to Palin, and PLEASE ask the same kind of “dirt-digging’ questions to Obama next! Journalism is really dead in 2008 election, nobody ever ask Obama any tough questions about his past so far! If they haven’t asked Obama tough questions, why would Palin need to be subjected to that?!! But just be fair, ask both of them the same kind of tough questions! Thank you for your great work as a great journalist! Please keep up with your good work in “REPORTING” without bias!
Sincerely,
Soccermom from N.C.

I’d like Charlie to ask Gov. Palin’s policy for routing out terror, including catching and bringing to justice Osama bin Laden. Not just rhetoric, but a real solid plan. Additionally I like to hear Gov. Palin’s thoughts on Georgia’s bombing of S. Ossetia and how that bombing related to the invasion of Georgia by Russia. I’d like to know how Gov. Palin intends to improve the United States standing in the world. Lastly, I am very interested in hearing why Gov. Palin felt that it was OK to accept a per diem for nights spent in her own home (a practice that would get 99.999% of people fired), why she used taxpayer funds to fly her family to the snow “machine” race her husband was competing in (and won- congrats!) and why she refuses to release 1100 emails for review by the comittee looking into allegations of abuse of power by Gov. Palin (copying her husband on many of these emails clearly negates any claims of Executive Priveledge).

Surprise us, Mr. Gibson. Establish your legacy. Be a journalist of the highest order serving the public, not spokesboy for the public relations department of the McCain campaign.
Dispose of and be done with “deference.” That is not your responsibility (and is a ludicrous Karl Rovian caveat.)
Omit the dander, the fluff. You’re not People Magazine.
Be probing, demanding, incisive, investigative about POLITICAL issues, about Palin’s unrelenting lies about Federal Funds — “thanks, but no thanks” — she took all the money for the Bridge to Nowhere…did she give all the money back?
She likes PORK, but where’s the BEEF??

Charlie – you know the qustions you need to ask – this should not be a Good Housekeeping interview. I want you to not allow Gov Palin o give canned answers. You need to interrupt and rebut and make her fight for her position. This is not being mean this is making sure she gets treated the same way McCain, Biden and Obama get treated.
I want her to explain why she supports a war that we all know was a mistake? How can you say that the surge has worked when the political factions in iraq can’t unite. Does she think violence will surge again after we withdraw and will this mean we will stay in Iraq for a hundred years like McCain said. Don’t give her a pass Charlie – it’s unjust and unfair.
Don’t ask about her family but do ask about her religious views and the fact that she stood up in church and talked about fighting God’s war – remember we have separation of church and state in this country.

1. What should be the penalty for having an abortion, and to whom would it apply? Should it be treated as pre-meditated murder? Could knowing spouses and family members be prosecuted as co-conspirators?
2. Approximately how large is the national debt now, and to which countries do we owe the most? What plans to you and Senator McCain have to reduce the debt? Or is that even important?
3. What if you are wrong about global warming? Is that even remotely possible?
4. In a democratic republic such as ours, based on checks and balances among the three branches of government, is it really to our benefit to have the entire Supreme Court populated with conservative justices? Is that American?
5. What concrete steps will the McCain/Palin administration take to reduce the partisan divide in the US? Are there any issues on which you would compromise traditional Republican positions to help bring the country together?
6. Please explain how your background has made you ready on day one to step into an international crisis.
7. Please explain what REALLY happened concerning the Bridge to Nowhere. Did the state of Alaska receive funds for the bridge, despite its abandonment? Did you at any time support the project?
8. How much will gas prices be lowered by renewing off-shore oil drilling? When we Americans benefit from those lower prices?
9. Percentage-wise, how much will the federal budget be reduced by eliminating earmarks?

Mr. Gibson, please remember one thing above all else: the electorate demands to know… and is ENTITLED to know anything and everything that concerns the people. Therefore:
1) Gov Palin’s individual family decisions may be personal, but WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW if she believes a woman, her family & physician also can have the same opportunity to choose. And if not, what criminal penalty is she in favor of to prevent American from choice? This is especially important if Gov Palin believes that abortion is murder!
2) When we the people have full and complete access to emails and records from her administration?
3) In the past year, VP Cheney has had critically important discussions with world leaders concerning potentially explosive situations in Iran, Iraq, Hezbollah, the Palestinians, N Korea, the Russians… the list is endless. Do you think that a “tough hockey mom” with no other exposure to these persons and events is ready on day 1 to effectively represent the American people?
3) Did you mis-speak about the role of community organizers? If so, would you like to apologize to them… and to Sen. Obama?
4) Were you ever in favor of the Bridge to Nowhere?
5) Don’t the American public have the right to know more about Sarah Palin than we hear from the repeated, daily prepared speeches? Will you accept invitations from other news media, such as Meet the Press?
6) We know that you weren’t in Washington the past 8 years, but how often would you have supported the Bush/Cheney policies? Do you agree with them on: the invasion of Iraq? the use of torture? the Attorney General & the firing scandal? the Bush tax cuts?
7) Do you agree with Sen McCain that the economy is basically sound?
8) Do you agree with Sen Phil Gramm that the economy is in the present state because of “whiners?” Should Sen Gramm stay on your campaign committee?
9) Should Sen McCain retain any of his advisors who are previous lobbyists? Wouldn’t that send the wrong message if they stayed?
10) Sen McCain says that if elected, he knows how to go after Osama bin Laden. AAs a patriot, shouldn’t he let us know right now, rather than wait to see what happens if/when he’s elected?

When Charlie and George grilled Obama for 40 minutes regarding his relationship with his Church and the Re. Wright I was deeply disappointed. However, since you feel that it is an important and legitimate area of concern and that the American people needed to know this, then it is just as important for you to ask her about the world view and belief system of her Church. Even though she left it in 2002, she still shows up and gives speeches to the faithful. Does she believe that we are doing God’s will in Iraq? Does she believe Jews and gays will go to hell? Does she believe that the end of the world is truly coming in this generation and if so what role does the President and Vice President play in preparing the nation for it? As to her statements: since she said “Thanks but No Thanks” to the bridge to nowhere as a way of demonstrating her fiscal/reform mindedness and anti-earmark position, why didn’t she say no thanks to the money? WHere is the money? She criticized Obama for securing almost $1 billion in earmarks for Illinois. Ask her how that compares per capita with the $27 million she secured for her 9,000 populated city of Wasilla? And then ask her how does that and accepting the money for the Bridge to Nowhere square with her reformist message? Ask her about global warming and how she can watch how it is most evident in her state and still believe it is not caused by the increase use of fossil fuels. Ask her if she has read the scientific journals, reviewed the scientific evidence and what she concludes from that. Finally, Charley, (and this is for you alone) your country needs you to step up right now and take your responsibility seriously. Even if Disney corporation wants you to throw the softballs, your country needs you to do your job and throw the hardballs. There is too much at stake and a generation yet to be born is banking on the media to steel its spine and meet your responsibility. If it comes down to your job or your country you know what you need to do. You know this. The people should not have to tell you. If you do what you are required ethically and professionally to do, the people will not let you down. Put all the politicians on notice that the fourth estate is back and our democracy will then recover.
God, how I hope you see this. I’m just not sure ABC and Disney will let this through.

Do you realize that Roe v. Wade is not settled law in this country and that the Supreme Court should revisit its earlier decision? That a woman’s right to ‘choose’ does not trump the right to life? Do you believe that we extend the right to life to the unborn? That an unborn’s right to see the light of day and to take a breath of fresh air trumps a woman’s right to choose an abortion?

If you only ask her one question, I hope it’s this one: Do you believe the law should require a woman who is pregnant as the result of being raped or being the victim of incest be forced to carry and have the baby?
That’s really all it will take.
Posted by: Carlton | Sep 10, 2008 8:46:23 PM
Or this way – Do you believe that the innocent life that is the unfortunate produce of the rape or incest should be destroyed (I won’t use ‘murder’) when there are many other families, who cannot have children, waiting in line to adopt one?
How do you respond to those that have no value to human life?
That’s really all it will take.

Mr. Gibson, this is a momentous occasion in your journalistic career. As Americans, we are either thrilled or furious at this VP selection, and we’ll be watching not only to see if you’ll be asking the tough questions, but also if you follow up – if your questions elicit generalities or party-line talking points. In short, we want precise answers to precise questions.
Do your job… and Good luck!

Charlie: A few questions we would like Sarah Palin to answer tonight:
1. What does her experience balancing Alaska’s budget which had 9 billion dollars of oil revenue surplus have to do with balancing the US budget which is Trillions in debt and hasa projected 900million deficit this year?
2. Can’t Plin see that Her comment that our troops’ mission in Iraq is a mission to destroy the Muslim enemy is an echo of George W Bush’s comment after 9/11 about our Crusade against militant Muslims. Both comments will only stir up more hatred and radical jihadists gainst the United States. Osama bin Laden always refers to this “crusade” and links it to the bitter memories of the Crusades that the Arab world has never forgotten. Is a “Christian jihad qualitatively different from an Islamic Jihad? doesn’t this kind of language put our troops and our nation at a greater danger? Indeed, a Christian holy war is a contradiction in terms, an oxymoron, since Christ admonished us to love our enemy and forgive those who trespass against us. How does Gov. Palin deal with this, as an avowed christian? The Lord’s prayer asks God tg forgive us as we forgive those who sin against us, linking these together.

I’ve read alot of the questions already being asked and I agree that Sarah Palin should not be allowed to dismiss or evade a question just because she may not like it and I watch ABC/GMA everyday and I hope Charlie Gibson will be tough on pursuing actual answers and not fluff!! I also agree that I know nothing more of Sarah Palin other than what I heard when she spoke at the RNC and what I’ve read on the internet since then. I do know that as a Christian, I believe everyone has the right to be heard and even when I don’t agree with the issue, GOD gave everyone FREE WILL which is the RIGHT TO CHOOSE, and that right, no matter what the issue is up to the individual, for the Government is not our final judge! Please Charlie, be tough and pursue when she may evade, for I didn’t see anyone being soft when Obama’s name was being dragged through the media about his name/beliefs, etc. I hope I am not disappointed!

Good overall interview. Charles Gilson should try to be fair and asked the questions with the same tone that he will talk to Obama. We don’t care what his feelings are, we want to here what “She” thinks so we can learn. Just ask the question and let her answer, then take her answer and move on. Don’t keep beating until you get the answer that you want. Then ask Obama the same questions, that would be funny. It would make it easy to watch if Charles wasn’t so mad looking. Fine out what she did the first 143 days as Gov.

I have not made up my mind yet if I am voting for Obama, however, after Charlie Gibson’s inteverview with Gov. Palin, I have decided NOT to vote for the republican ticket. Why? well, seems to me they can’t make up their mind on Foreign policy – they condemn Russia’s actions in George – going in to stop violence, but at the same time seems to be OK for the USA to into Pakistan and do the same, in the name of fighting terrorists – last time I check, Pakistan was a sovern (?) nation, no? So whay is it NOT ok for on country but for the other – well it’s in our best interest and ‘security’ -
Can we have it both ways? I think not, shouldn’t we do as we preach?
