Right on Campbell–pull Palin out of hiding!

I missed the show (still wrestling two kids to bed at that hour unfortunately!) but caught up with the story about Campbell Brown’s rant in the Times and on Youtube. Bravo. I love that somebody is actually wondering publicly why Sarah Palin is still so shrouded. How does that possibly fit with her image as an Alaskan frontier woman who can handle everything?  She’s starting to feel more like a throwback to that 70′s Enjoli perfume ad , thanks to the McCain campaign.

I hated that picture of Palin hunched eagerly like a good girl at the knees of Henry Kissinger, and reading about the meaningful dialogue she exchanged in public with the new Pakistani leader, who basically couldn’t stop talking about wanting to hug her. I cringed for all women.

When they treat her like a breakable doll, that’s the image she projects. If she’d been taking questions after those events, the other image stuff would have been passed over. One or two interviews, carefully prepared for and doled out, isn’t the training she needs, or what a worried public, watching its nation wobble, needs to see right now.

Palin is busy gutting a moose right now, how many things you want her to do at one time, next thing you know, she will be chewing gum…

McCain’s next big “ploy” will be to dump the Alaskan buffoon. How else could he possibly maintain media attention?!

the press hates palin and she is staying away and the press cant stand it; too f…ing bad for the liberal press in nyc

When Biden and Palin have their debate, Biden will put on a clinic. I probably will not watch because it will be too painful. Sort of like watching the Miss SC video.

I must say.. even with her stupid answers to Katie C., she looks more more Presidential than your guy McCain.

Male foreign dignitaries and very few US politicians will ever treat Palin as though she has any level of credibility.
Every intelligent and accomplished career woman knows that once the men you work with or for imagines you on your knees or bent over a desk, that your credibilty is gone and you won’t get it back. It is a very delicate line that professional women have to walk in order to be perceived as competent and not just a piece of fluff in a skirt.
MCcain Campaign trots Palin around like aa Barbie doll for all the men to drool over. The fact that she ACTUALLY IS CLUELESS doesn’t help either. She will never be able to gain any level of credibilty.
Also, one would imagine that Palin, would be angry at being managed like an incompetent child. I know I would, especially if I claimed that I was ready and able to handle the job.

Claire – I agree with what you and Campbell have said in general, but have you SEEN the interviews Sarah Palin has given when she IS allowed by the campaign? I mean, this is NOT an intelligent woman by any means. She NEEDS to be hidden.
Have you SEEN her “foreign policy experience” answer to Katie Couric today? I mean, one would think that after all the nonsensical garbage she spewed on Charlie Gibson, she would prepare herself a little better.
But then any hint of “intelligence” would mean that she is “elite” and we really don’t want that in our candidates, do we? So we pick people who are dumber than us.
That is the tragedy of John McCain’s choice.
Unbelievable.

Ron…it’s actually to f…ing bad for America because we’re being asked to vote for someone that we don’t know…other than what the campaign has put out in the form of news releases and photo ops. If this person wants to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency and wants my vote, she better get off her fanny and start talking to me. The probelm is she can’t because when she opens her mouth, it becomes instantly obvious that she is in way over her head.

Well Claire, you and Campbell have certainly justified the anti-witchcraft prayer.
2008: The year when sexism trumped racism because holding women down is what men do to stay on top and keeping other women out is what women do to stay on bottom.

Ron….you may not have noticed, but she’s also hiding from the conservative press outside of NYC.

Campbell Brown? isn’t she the one that left her newborn to take a job at CNN?

Posted by: ABC N the Tank4 Obama | September 25, 2008, 3:33 pm 3:33 pm

Sarah Palin is an embarassment to women each time she opens her mouth, even with the benefit of a teleprompter. Just the fact that she is standing before this country and the world as one who is qualified to be VP, much less President if, God forbid, it becomes necessary, speaks volumes of her enormous ego. She knows, and we all know, that she would be challenged owning and operating her own business.

Posted by: Debra | September 25, 2008, 3:37 pm 3:37 pm

SP may be nice as can be, but she really REALLY doesn’t have a clue. I feel sorry for her because McCain is just using her and she just stands there like a dope and lets him. Don’t get mad at the media, Obama or his supporters, get mad at McCain for putting HIMSELF FIRST instead of his country!

Posted by: realitycheck | September 25, 2008, 3:38 pm 3:38 pm

Campbell Brown has her nerves, she is one of the snarling vicious attackers of Sarah Palin and to come out and act as if she is speaking on her behalf is crap, why did she not have an issue when they were torching Hillary night after night, Campbell has no credibility, she is so far in the tank for the messiah that it is ridiculous, Campbell Brown and most of the folks at CNN and MSNBC are a joke.

ABC N the Tank4 Obama….
Classy! Troll.

Posted by: Debra | September 25, 2008, 3:44 pm 3:44 pm

Kim, I would prefer Hillary on the top of the ticket too. We would be so far ahead in the polls, McCain would be suspending his campaign for very different reasons that his latest political manuever would suggest. Attacking the few female journalist, commentators, whatever they call themselves these days only divides us further as a gender. Palin deserves what is heaped on her because she has placed herself in this arena she was entirely unprepared for. Hillary can take her hits and return a few. I don’t worry about Hill…she is smarter and stronger than most of our gender, and she is the way-shower right now. Let’s just get a Democrat back to the White House so we can breathe again, and we can deal with this sexism crap later. Palin is free game!

Posted by: Debra | September 25, 2008, 3:49 pm 3:49 pm

I can’t believe the American People are so stupid to actually want this ….person to be in the White House!
Obama/Biden must win this election.

I’ve not seen Campbell Brown’s rant, but, having watched her over the years, she is one savvy woman. One of these posters criticized her for going back to work shortly after she had a child. Many women do; Sarah Palin has done so, but of course, she’s been the breadwinner in her family — someone has to support her 5 kids and it’s sure not “The First Dude.” The McCain campaign has been trotting Palin around like she’s another McCain trophy wife. I thought polygamy was illegal in the USA. Every time Palin opens her mouth, all that comes out of it are inanities. Lord save us from the disaster that the GOP is trying to foist on this nation!

How i yearn for the days BEFORE Democrats took over in 2006, booming economy, stock market climbing, Gas $2.12 a gallon, low interst rates and security in America. now in 2 years, they have turned America into a dump. Democrat= I HATE AMERICA AND WHAT IT STANDS FOR

Posted by: ABC-n-the -tank-4-obama | September 25, 2008, 4:32 pm 4:32 pm

I also think it is ridiculous that Palin isn’t more accessible to the press but having said that, I also think that the smear campaign waged by mainstream media against this woman has been like nothing I have ever seen in the 40 years of following campaigns.
I have no use for what Campbell Brown has to say on this issue because I have never seen such an obvious display of disdain for a candidate then Brown has displayed towards Palin. Brown’s reaction to Palin the day she was announced and some of the comments she has made since have been abysmal. I am not a fan of Palin’s but the mainstream media’s mention of every story being circulated on the blogs was ridiculous.
Mainstream media talked about the blog’s saying that Palin was faking a pregnancy to hide her daughters and yet said mum as it was coming out about Edwards and his mistress and even less about the Sinclair allegations that circulated the blogs for months. So, I agree the McCain camp should let their candidate meet the press but Campbell Brown is a joke in the twist she’s trying to spin on this story because she’s been one of the worst culprits in regards to reporting that has been balanced and objective when it comes to Palin. Brown just proves she is the hypocrite she was coming off like in the first place. Nice try though.

“Attacking the few female journalist, commentators, whatever they call themselves these days only divides us further as a gender.”
So now you will try to use them too for Obama? What a crock.
If they step into the ring, they better take the Political Punch.
Actually, if you had stuck together rather than standing by, McCain WOULD be up against Hillary. Instead, you did what women do when faced with a stronger woman: watched silently while other women tore her up on national TV for the sake of their own ratings.
Campbell and Claire have decided to abandon objective journalism and become advocates a la Geraldo Rivera, and that makes them fair game too.
Get used to it. This is just the first election where the media has gone so deep into the tank the public can no longer trust them, and that trust was the one asset they needed to cultivate for the sake of the country. Instead, for a mess of porridge, they gave it up.

Len, My point was, these on-air women aren’t the ones that are in line to be the top dog in the country, that would be Palin. If it were Hillary she would be in that category. WE give these talking heads too much power! We have brains, let’s use them. Name calling, finger pointing…grade school tactics.
I can research a candidate, and I have. There’s more than one way to skin a moose, and these TV minds have made it necessary to use them all now. You can’t watch one channel, read one source and think yourself informed. WE are to blame for the current state of the MSM….we created them when we let them believe that their opinions matter to us. I just want the facts, and when I have them I make my decisions. You don’t get just facts reading Jake Tapper, watching Anderson Cooper, Bill O’Really?, or Shepherd Smith. It’s all tainted with their ideas of what’s right or wrong about the story. Bring back Christiane Amanpour!!!!!!!

I was scared when I watched Dan Quale too, but he still became our VP. Face it people….AMERICANS VOTE TOP OF THE TICKET AND THIS IS BETWEEN McCAIN AND OBAMA.
I have confidence in a woman WHO HAS DONE MORE THAN YOU AND ME AND ANY BROAD ON THESE BOARDS….including the authors! Shut the hell up women….it’s like eating your own.

Posted by: Debra | September 25, 2008, 11:55 pm 11:55 pm

I see most of the hatred comes from men here still afraid of strong women…funny, you can go over to Political Punch and read up on Biden’s two dozen gaffes and he just gets pass after pass…NO ONE BATS AN EYE….what kind of double standard here for Senator Biden over Governor Palin, who has been in POLITICS LONGER THAN BARACK OBAMA. My God you libs are very nervous…that the backbone of this country….you know…the bitter bible huggers, gun toting folks in Ohio and Penn…..MIGHT ACTUALLY SEE SUBSTANCE OVER FLASH. COUNTRY TRUMPING EGO.
HILLARY SUPPORTER FOR McCAIN even BEFORE he picked Palin.

I read a lot more than that, Debra, but it is all too obvious that we are seeing sexism at its most raw in these Womenomics blogs because it is true girl-on-girl sexism. Raw and ugly.
It amazes me. Governor Palin has done what none of you have done and all you can do is harp. Is she the best possible candidate? Well, she isn’t the worst and she was on the list.
We are left with a choice among turkeys in this election. McCain is old, Obama is crooked. Biden is a mouth. Palin is a mother. Of all of them, I like Palin best.
I don’t always agree with her.

Posted by: len | September 30, 2008, 6:41 pm 6:41 pm

Campbell Brown makes me sick. I can’t listen to anything she says about anything. I’ve never heard anyone on CNN say anything positive about either McCain or Palin. These are the same people that keep griping about supporters griping that Palin’s not getting a fair shot with the press or there is sexism. Do people really think it’s OK that the President of Pakistan thinks Palin is a prostitute? Or that a nude drawing of her sits on the wall in a bar in Chicago? Or that she’s called white trash? Or that a preacher says that because she hunts moose she will hunt blacks and jews? I mean really, people think this is OK? Honestly, can you say there is another reason this is happening other than that she’s a woman?

Posted by: deb | September 30, 2008, 9:55 pm 9:55 pm

Campbell has and will be on the far left and in the tank for Obama. What else would you expect form her?

Posted by: Tedinski | October 2, 2008, 5:59 am 5:59 am

She knows she isn’t going to treated fairly by the MSM. Why should she be any more inclined to grant them an interview than she would Air America? You liberal women are such HYPOCRITES. You don’t care about women, all you care about is your liberal causes and your desire to turn the greatest country on earth into another 2nd rate socialist backwater.
