The Morning Meeting
Three subjects dominate this morning: The presidential campaign, the ferocity of Hurricane Ike, and the huge implications of the story of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (impenetrable as those institutions can seem). There may not be room for much else, once the day is done. Parenthetically, for the first time in a couple of months all hands are on deck at the World News desk here in New York — after summer vacations and the two conventions kept everyone apart. At any rate it won’t last; folks will be getting on planes again soon — headed for Alaska, and Charlie’s interview with Sarah Palin. Stay tuned…
