Obama’s Divine Meteorology

ABC News’ John Berman, Sunlen Miller and Ursula Fahy report: It might be a pure coincidence, but Barack Obama gave God the credit for the weather not once, but twice today.

In Chillocothe, Ohio he opened his morning speech with the words, "What a wonderful crowd on this beautiful day that the Lord has made."  And then later in Columbus he said, "Look at this day that the Lord has made!" 

Indeed, it was a very nice day whoever made it.  But it is where Obama said it that is interesting.  Ohio has voted Republican in the previous 2 elections, and George W. Bush had some success galvanizing the evangelical vote here.  This is not to say Obama doesn’t think God has provided nice weather in blue states, he just doesn’t talk about it there.  The last time he brought up divine meteorology was in North Carolina on Sunday, "I can tell this is God’s country," he said, "And look at this day that the Lord has made."

Again, it might be nothing, but one factor that suggests it is not, is Ohio Governor Ted Strickland’s full throated introduction of Obama at the rally in Chillocothe (and I call it full throated, because he was shouting it, loudly, with his entire throat, even though the microphone was working perfectly well.)  In his introduction, Strickland assured the crowd, "Obama is a strong Christian family man." However, Strickland did not bring up the weather.

Barack Obama is a good man, who makes me proud to be an American.

They imagined — They imagined me going to the best schools in the land, even though they weren’t rich, because in a generous America you don’t have to be rich to achieve your potential.
They’re both passed away now. And yet, I know that on this night they look down on me with great pride.
They stand here — And I stand here today, grateful for the diversity of my heritage, aware that my parents’ dreams live on in my two precious daughters. I stand here knowing that my story is part of the larger American story, that I owe a debt to all of those who came before me, and that, in no other country on earth, is my story even possible.
Tonight, we gather to affirm the greatness of our Nation — not because of the height of our skyscrapers, or the power of our military, or the size of our economy. Our pride is based on a very simple premise, summed up in a declaration made over two hundred years ago:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
That is the true genius of America, a faith — a faith in simple dreams, an insistence on small miracles; that we can tuck in our children at night and know that they are fed and clothed and safe from harm; that we can say what we think, write what we think, without hearing a sudden knock on the door; that we can have an idea and start our own business without paying a bribe; that we can participate in the political process without fear of retribution, and that our votes will be counted — at least most of the time.”

For you die-hard supporters for His Nothingness. The market crash is a vivid warning of what you will see under a Zero-bama administration.
Zero-bama pushed hard to pass a so-called economic stimulus program, basically giving some of you up to $700 bucks, to “save” the economy. On the contrary, HRC wanted a targeted economic plan aimed at banking and mortgage crisis – this was 12 months ago! Yet, the Congress, headed by his House Mommy and Senate Daddy wanting to show their support and to pick an Affirmative Action candi, went along, ignoring the real crisis and a viable solution at that time, again 1 freeking year ago.
Now, this $700 did nothing, as characteristic to His Nothingness, to the economy; actually it led to the down-slide of more than 40%!!!! in the market. On top of this, this phony still wants to give you $1000 to (1) buy your vote if you vote for him, and (2) boost and rescue the economy if you elect him.
This is a serious judgment problem. Has he really ever made a good judgment call when he has the responsibility of doing something????

Actually, wasn’t it Senator John McCain, that rushed back to Washington to push through the bailout? Wasn’t it he who was going to suspend his campaign, not go to the debate, and do nothing until this package was passed?
If you want to bash Obama, you’d do better if you pick an issue on which McCain didn’t try and co-opt as an example of his leadership; and while I love Hillary and can understand your lack of ability to move on and accept that she lost, she voted for the package.
And who freakin’ cares of it’s a Muslim God or Christian God? Only thing as bad as a racial bigot is a religious one.

Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. “Barry” (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan.
Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those “small” Internet campaign contribution for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and

The McCain campaign tried to pre-empt the official report by releasing its own review of “troopergate,” which concluded that Palin did nothing wrong and did not break any laws.

–John- Your bio about Obama has some gross errors. For one thing, Barack’s Mom lived in and grew up in the Seattle WA are where she attended high school and hung out with irregular (???)people. After hs graduation, she moved to Hawaii with her parents and started college there, meet up with Barack SR, had a baby out of wedlock (He was already married and had a wife and child in Kenya) before Sr abandoned them both. There does not seem to be any record that Barack Sr. ever supported his son and the mother.
Yes, October days are beautiful here too. But did Obama praise God for the storms (Katrina, etc.)as well the beautiful days. God is responsible for both.

I’ve heard him him say “GOD country” many times… in Minnesota, Colorado, Oregon , and where they do the fly fishing. But you are right, he wants them to know that he is Christian. It is a common preacheresque religious opening.

The mainstream media thought that the membership of Todd Palin, who is not a candidate for any office, in the Alaska Independence Party important enough to report in such outlets as the Los Angeles Times, MSNBC, and the New York Times, among others.
So now that Barack Obama’s membership in the far left New Party has been unearthed, will they report his membership in that Socialist organization?
Proof of Obama’s membership in the New Party was discovered by the Politically Drunk On Power blog:
In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago “New Party”. The ‘New Party’ was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards. The admittedly Socialist Organization experienced a moderate rise in numbers between 1995 and 1999. By 1999, however, the Socialist ‘New Party’ was essentially defunct after losing a supreme court challenge that ruled the organizations “fusion” reform platform as unconstitutional.
After allegations surfaced in early summer over the ‘New Party’s’ endorsement of Obama, the Obama campaign along with the remnants of the New Party and Democratic Socialists of America claimed that Obama was never a member of either organization. The DSA and ‘New Party’ then systematically attempted to cover up any ties between Obama and the Socialist Organizations. However, it now appears that Barack Obama was indeed a certified and acknowledged member of the DSA’s New Party.
On Tuesday, I discovered a web page that had been scrubbed from the New Party’s website. The web page which was published in October 1996, was an internet newsletter update on that years congressional races. Although the web page was deleted from the New Party’s website, the non-profit Internet Archive Organization had archived the page.
From the October 1996 Update of the DSA ‘New Party’:
“New Party members are busy knocking on doors, hammering down lawn signs, and phoning voters to support NP candidates this fall. Here are some of our key races…
Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary).”
You can find the above quote from the scubbed New Party web page at this Internet Archive Organization link. More confirmation of Obama’s membership in the New Party can be found at an article in the November 1996 Progressive Populist magazine:
New Party members and supported candidates won 16 of 23 races, including an at-large race for the Little Rock, Ark., City Council, a seat on the county board for Little Rock and the school board for Prince George’s County, Md. Chicago is sending the first New Party member to Congress, as Danny Davis, who ran as a Democrat, won an overwhelming 85% victory. New Party member Barack Obama was uncontested for a State Senate seat from Chicago.
The Democratic Socialist Party of America also reported on Obama’s New Party membership in its July/August 1996 edition:
The Chicago New Party is increasely becoming a viable political organization that can make a different in Chicago politics. It is crucial for a political organization to have a solid infrastructure and visible results in its political program. The New Party has continued to solidify this base.
First, in relation to its infrastructure, the NP’s membership has increased since January ’95 from 225 to 440. National membership has increased from 5700 in December ’95 to 7000. Currently the NP’s fiscal balance is $7,000 and receives an average of $450/month is sustainer donations.
Secondly, the NP’s ’96 Political Program has been enormously successful with 3 of 4 endorsed candidates winning electoral primaries. All four candidates attended the NP membership meeting on April 11th to express their gratitude. Danny Davis, winner in the 7th Congressional District, invited NPers to join his Campaign Steering Committee. Patricia Martin, who won the race for Judge in 7th Subcircuit Court, explained that due to the NP she was able to network and get experienced advice from progressives like Davis. Barack Obama, victor in the 13th State Senate District, encouraged NPers to join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration. The lone loser was Willie Delgado, in the 3rd Illinois House District. Although Delgado received 45% of the vote, he lost by only 800 votes. Delgado commented that it was due to the NP volunteers that he carried the 32nd Ward. Delgado emphasized that he will remain a visible community activist in Humbolt Park. He will conduct four Immigration workshops and encouraged NP activists to get involved.
Kudos to Politically Drunk On Power for digging up this information about Obama’s membership in the socialist New Party. The question now is if the MSM will deem his party membership important enough to report on. They sure didn’t hesitate to report on Todd Palin’s membership in the Alaska Independence Party.

About 50 activists attended the Chicago New Party membership meeting in July. The purpose of the meeting was to update members on local activities and to hear appeals for NP support from four potential political candidates. The NP is being very active in organization building and politics. There are 300 members in Chicago. In order to build an organizational and financial base the NP is sponsoring house parties. Locally it has been successful both fiscally and in building a grassroots base. Nationwide it has resulted in 1000 people committed to monthly contributions. The NP’s political strategy is to support progressive candidates in elections only if they have a concrete chance to “win”. This has resulted in a winning ratio of 77 of 110 elections. Candidates must be approved via a NP political committee. Once approved, candidates must sign a contract with the NP. The contract mandates that they must have a visible and active relationship with the NP.
The political entourage included Alderman Michael Chandler, William Delgado, chief of staff for State Rep Miguel del Valle, and spokespersons for State Sen. Alice Palmer, Sonya Sanchez, chief of staff for State Sen. Jesse Garcia, who is running for State Rep in Garcia’s District; and Barack Obama, chief of staff for State Sen. Alice Palmer. Obama is running for Palmer’s vacant seat.
So Obama signed a contract with the New Party? Verrrry interesting.

Sorry, but the crash is directly tied to the failure of financial institutions which were holding the bad paper from low-doc and no-doc mortgages.
These mortgages were extant as the result of a democratic social experiment that put a lot of poor people into homes that they had no way to pay for. Not only was this bad for Wall Street…
It was cruel to those poor people who have lost their homes as a result. These programs were supported by both parties but mostly by democrats. ACORN had a role to play in this since they were well known as ‘community organizers’ who would intimidate banks into taking on these high-risk loans. This is not conjecture. It is history. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were then pressured by left-leaning legislators to buy these high risk loans by using GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS that were part of the expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act in 1995. It was regulation of the very worst kind. A hands-off approach would have been far less likely to have brought this on. Ie., had government NOT gotten involved in the bankers business they would have NOT ended up with all this worthless paper. That’s conjecture, but the fact that pressure had to be applied to make these loans happen tells you that, without the pressure from ACORN and others these loans would never have been made.
Even Saturday Night Live knows that Bush warned of this 5 years ago. Even Alec Baldwin knows that Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were the main actors in this. And, it is a matter of public record that Obama was the second highest paid-off politician by Fannie and Freddie.
Even Jim Cramer laid the blame on democrats and explicitly stated that he would love to put it on Bush but the historical facts are too clear to even come close to making that case.
So, the net result of this is that a misinformed electorate is getting ready to throw gasoline on a fire by electing one of the main paid-off politicians to oversee this mess.

About this time evryday I check out how the world is going on all the news nets. This is really a steller day the market is in a mess and BUSH SEEMED TO ONLY MAKE IT WORSE BY SPEAKING. and THEN I read that the crowds showing up at McCain Palin gatherings are turning into right wing terrorists themselves. They are yelling “Kill hin” and feeding right into Ms Palins notions about Obama being some secret agent for the dark side. makes me so proud to be an American All those folks want is to have thier own way and get another republican in office. Will they ever even let someone unlike themselves run this country? I don”t think so they voted in Bush even a second time despite his short comings over having any change at all why is this so? I really am puzzled by this evil undertone and scary reaction to the possibility of something different happening in Washington. Now they call Mr. Obama a socialist and they are sure he is a closet Muslim where did they get these ideas and why would anyone try to put that kind of fear in our minds? You folks should take a brake and a deep breath.

Barack 0bama is a fraud. He has lied about every one of his “controversial” personal, religious, and political associations until he got caught, and then came up with some lame explanation that even a blind man could see through.
There is a joke that goes “How can you tell a politician is lying? When his lips are moving”.
With 0bama, it’s when he says “I have been consistent on this matter…”, whatever it is (the war in Iraq, foreign diplomacy with terrorist nations, the economy, whatever).
If you want to vote for a man who has lied his way this far, who consorts with known terrorists, and who probably has a much different world view than most Americans (his wife once said that “as a black man, Barack sees things differently than many people do”), be my guest, but just realize what you are getting yourself, and the rest of the country, into.

So: who is Raila Odinga that Senator Obama would expend his political capital and risk the goodwill of half the population of Kenya?
Their relationship is unclear. Raila Odinga’s father Oginga Odinga was leader of the “Kenya People’s Union” and perceived as a “committed socialist” (“Oginga Odinga: Kenya’s Most Persecuted Politician” Kenya: Key Issues 8/21.2002). Odinga Sr. was also the political ally of fellow Luo; Barack Obama Sr.(The Risks of Knowledge (Ohio University Press, 2004) p. 182)

What we do know about Odinga is not good. A former Minister of Energy, Odinga is reported to have been set up in the oil business by the al Bakri Group and Muammar Quaddafi (“How Rich is Raila-The ODM Kenya Presidential Aspirant?” African Press 4/26/2007) Abdel Qader Bakri (or- Abdulkader al Bakri) was listed on the infamous “Golden Chain”–an internal Al-Queda list of wealthy Saudi financial sponsors seized by Bosnian police in a Islamic “charity” raid in 2001. (“Terrorist Financing Staff Monograph 9/11 Commission and “The Golden Chain”) According to his website, Odinga was educated in Communist East Germany, (Herder Institute, Leipzig & Otto von Guericke Tech. Institute, Magdeburg) (http://www.raila07.com) Odinga’s eldest son is named “Fidel” (http://www.raila07.com)
Perhaps most troubling is Odinga’s links to Islamic extremists in Kenya. According to Voice of America and the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, on 8/29/07, Odinga signed a secret agreement (exposed 11/27) with Sheikh Abdullah Abdi of the National Muslim
Leaders Forum (NAMLEF) in which he agreed to institute Islamic law in exchange for Abdi’s support (eakenya.org)–thereby potentially disenfranchising and curtailing the liberties of millions of Christian Kenyan women. Further, he promised that Muslims suspected of terrorism would be safe from extradition—thereby establishing a ‘safe haven’ for terrorists in Kenya.

After the public outcry, Odinga denied signing a secret agreement. Angry at Odinga’s apparent repudiation, a member of NAMLEF subsequently released the agreement to the press. Odinga then claimed the document was a forgery, but acknowledged a secret agreement had been signed in exchange for Muslim support. So, how much of a national security concern is this? Well, actually: huge “…proximity to the volatile states…including Somalia and Sudan have made Kenya especially vulnerable, in the views of counterterrorism experts, to the call for jihad. Since the early 1990s, the mosques of Mombasa and other towns have resonated with militant Islamic rhetoric. Radical imams have preached violence against Westerners, attacked the Kenyan government as the lackey of the United States and Israel and called for the implementation of Shariah. Members of the Qaeda cells that blew up the U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania…were recruited in mosques near the Indian Ocean beaches [in Kenya]“ (“The African Front” , ibid)

Odinga has claimed that he and Obama speak regularly and whether this is true or not– the similarities between their campaigns are startling. (“Kenya Tests New Style of Politicking” The Washington Post, 12/22/2007)
In fairness to Senator Obama, after Kenya erupted into violence ( and at the request of Condoleezza Rice), Obama did record a message “. …calling for calm…” and had “..near daily conversations with the US Ambassador…and Raila Odinga” (“The Demons That Still Haunt Africa” TIME magazine 1/10/2008). Perhaps not surprisingly, President Kibaki apparently declined to take his call. Kibaki’s not the only one no longer filled with enthusiasm for Senator Obama’s brand of diplomacy. As Nicholas Kristof reported (with some surprise) in February: “You might think that all Kenyans would be vigorously supporting Mr. Obama. But Kenya has been fractured along ethnic lines in the last two months, so now Mr. Obama draws frenzied support from the Luos ethnic group of his ancestors, while many members of the rival Kikuyu group fervently support Hillary Rodham Clinton. Curiously, it has been the Kenyan press (almost alone) who have realized the potential implications: “… this is what may be the most memorable effect of the ODM’s [Odinga’s party] post-election campaign for State House. The longer their protests last, and the less disciplined they are – or the more atrocities like Eldoret [church massacre] are conducted in the party’s name- the more likely Kenya is to be stuck on the front pages of the world’s media and the more embarrassment it will bring to the Senator.” (“The Kiss of Death, How Kenya Could Spoil It For Obama” KenyaImagine 1/13/2008)
Clearly, Obama campaigned for someone who is corrupt, ruthless and has financial ties to terrorists. More importantly, Obama campaigned for a candidate who had the stated objective of dismantling US & Kenyan government efforts to root out Al Queda and other terrorist organizations. Organizations that had already caused the deaths of hundreds of Americans and Africans in embassy bombings. Senator Obama’s actions—intentional or not—were in direct conflict with the efforts and interests of US national security. I think this raises serious questions about the judgment, maturity and readiness of Senator Obama.

I can’t understand how the near endless financial resources of the GOP have failed to produce credible evidence for all the accusations this a desperate campaign. Where there’s smoke there’s fire, and it doesn’t take a fireman to make the connection. I think all you’ve got is vapor.
To the point, it was a magnificent day in Columbus, Ohio today, with clear blue sky, bright sun, and crisp clean air – words can hardly begin to describe how beautiful. And the clarity of the day was reflected in the message.
It may be fair to raise such questions; the day was so remarkable though, I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. I’m not inclined to believe such talk would have much influence here anyway.
Religious conservatives have been blinded by GOP rhetoric; they are exploited by a party that seldom aligns itself with the true teachings of Christ. It seems they are incapable of accepting reality; oddly, for people who value truth so dearly, they cling to myths and lies tenaciously. It’s laughable how so many criticize Senator Obama for attending Trinity United Church of Christ, and also accuse him of being Muslim.
Anyway, the Clinton’s poured everything they had into beating him too, and don’t think they left any stone unturned. They had plenty of resources, and they came up empty too. I’ve followed the leads and claims on too many right-wing websites and fount nothing substantial behind them. If there was anything truly bad in Senator Obama’s past, it’s inconceivable that REAL evidence hasn’t been unearthed.

From what I’ve seen Hitler was not an atheist, and never renounced his Roman Catholicism and himself made references to God in a positive way…not sure about Mussolini. It doesn’t matter how charismatic someone is unless they are telling people what they already believe.
Reagan had charisma…I like him most for his stance against Communism. However, he is one of my least favorite presidents. He supported oppressive military dictators in Central America (not that the Commies were any better), he avoided the press whenever he could, the whole Iran-Contra thing was worse than Watergate, he did NOT end Communism, he failed miserably in Beirut, etc.
I’m telling you, these Communists in Russia are still running things. Taking down the Wall and all that was cosmetic. The New Communist uses finances and a society’s own infrastructure against itself-education, media, news organizations, literature, politics, etc. The New Communist is a financier because $ is the ultimate weapon. The hammers and sickles and AK-47s are for the guys out in the jungles. Quaint, worthy of support, but not the real focus. It was finances from Communists in the West that won the Red Revolution for Lenin and Mao.
The Socialist Revolution is happening NOW. There won’t be any Red Guards storming the Capitol. It happens a little at a time. Meanwhile, we get probed (stuck with a meat thermometer actually) occasionally to see if we’re done yet. It’s like that episode from the Twilight Zone “To Serve Man”…we’re being brainwashed and fattened up for the social, political and economic banquet. The mere fact that someone like Obama has come this far shows that.
“Bill Ayers? Who cares.” That attitude should say it all. “McCarthy was evil.” That should say more about who’s won.
If you haven’t look up Congressman Herlong of Florida/Communists and judge for yourself.

It is funny to see Obama trying to appeal to Christians. Many think he is a fake and whose religious convictions are suspect. Obama will get even less support than Kerry or Gore did with Christian voters.

Do we see an implicit attempt to have the Republican candidate monopolize the God brand here?
Whenever a Republican candidate praises the Lord for anything good happening he (or she) is merely showing a glimpse of their inner piousness that reassures us that “they’re one of us”, and that we can trust them character-wise.
But let a Democrat candidate pass such a comment and we see an article that subtly and politely ridicules his words and ever-so-subtly portrays them as instrumental, manipulative (that bit about Bush and the “evangelical vote”), and insincere.
Might we be seeing the tiniest little smidgeon of poisonously biased reporting here?

Christian, Jewish, Muslim—-children of the Book (Old Testament)—-same God—children of Abraham—-sometimes have disagreements—-need to talk and work them out the way families are supposed to work—-unfortunately some family members get caught up in radical ideologies so much that they talk past one another—-there is a story from one of the wars with Germany that during a one day (Christmas) truce the German soldiers started singing Silent Night—guess what—-the American soldiers joined in the singing—-the next day the shooting went on—-prior to the War of 1812, American officers were being wined and dined by British officers at Ft. George (Canada)—-during that meal the British received word that Britain was at war with America—-the meal went on without rancor—-the British saw their guests to the boats on the Niagara River that took them back to Ft. Niagara—-they waved God Speed—–the next day the shooting began—-civility even in the midst of war. I’m not sure what my point is, but something compelled me to share this with you. George in Dallas—a devout Christian, gay, liberal-conservative Democrat who longs for civil discussion and will be voting for Obama / Biden.

More innuendos? Why is the story trying to imply? As if there are not enough of this kind of vapid information and inferences being spread from right-wing journalists already, we are exposed to this from ABC News. What kind of journalism is this suppose to be?. What’s the purpose of this story? What are you implying with this vapid information?. This particular bit of news about Obama is NOT newsworthy and should not have been circulated either electronically or in any other format. I think that the so-called reporters at ABC News have too much time on their collective hands, and are letting their imaginations run wild.
