Because America is not stupid our biggest deficit right now is our standing and the support and respect we receive in the world.
Whether it be the war on terror. our handling of the economic collapse from deregulating the architecture that protected us… our recognition of how big a mistake was supporting the Bush policies and platform
this will be a moment when our allies and enemies alike are watching to see how dumb we can be and who has our back…and whose back do we have…
and do we acknowledge when we were not only wrong…but stupidly wrong.

and Steve not to correct you but when parsing the electoral vote count…Barr and Nader matter in each state but not in the overall…vote count…they won’t receive any electoral college numbers.
Posted by: dl | October 28, 2008, 9:47 am 9:47 am
think people if mccain wins
think about how our allies and everyone else is going to look at us the day after.
because they are right…it would be stupid to vote for a man who has been with the President more than 9 out of ten times in the past 8 years…and is promising nothing different besides saying “I am different because what he is promising isn’t”
talk about making our nation work twice as hard…ugh.

As a republican proudly supporting Obama/Biden ticket I say the race will be close. I just would not vote for a Women, Sarah Palin who is not qualify to lead if McCain dies. McCain is looking ill and very confused this days. Hes message is just all over the place. The other reason I will not vote for McCain nor Sarah Palin is that she was guilty of abusing her powers as a governor…Sounds familiar???Channey all over again!!! I just dont see anyone voting for McCain his judgement on picking Sarah Palin was erratic. I urge all those Independents, un deciders to vote Obama/Biden We republicans need to come up with a better agenda, ideas and a better candidate and by far a better VP. I asked all my friends is Sarah Palin the best we can do??? They all NO. Lets not get side track and vote for the best team. I will give Obama the edge.

JUST VOTE WITHOUT YOUR VOTE NOONE WINS GET OUT AND VOTE!
Posted by: Angie | October 28, 2008, 9:52 am 9:52 am
I agree there are people who are still un decided. I hope they all vote SMART this time around. So I will give Obama a small 3% win. I urge all the un deciders not to vote for someone who is in violation of her state statue, abusing her powers as a governor. Sarah Palin is just not ready. If McCain was 50 yrs old I will vote for him. The facts are that hes 73 yrs old, looking ill, had cancer seveal times and if somehting should happened to him we are stuck with the biggest joke Sarah Palin. I am a smart republican women and I will vote for the best team, Obama/Biden. Sarah is cute and somewhat nice but that is just not enogh to be in charge of this great nation.

I predict Chuck Baldwin in a suprising upset (48%) over Nader (39%)
Posted by: Handsome | October 28, 2008, 10:01 am 10:01 am
Baldwin(43%) over Nader(38%)
Chuck Baldwin will be President
Posted by: Goodlooking | October 28, 2008, 10:04 am 10:04 am
I agree. I fear a Sarah Palin administration if that is to be due to John McCains health issues. Sarah Palin will be a great sport commentator but she is clearly not ready for VP. The sad part about all this is that the more shes out there the more she looks and sounds stupid and very negative. Yes, I am an independet voter voting for Obama, period. Hes clearly with out a though the best choice. For once in a long time wil will actually have a smart president. I too urge all independent voter to give Obama their support, hes a good man.

Posted by: pt | October 28, 2008, 10:07 am 10:07 am
Sarah Palin, is the main reason I will support Obama. How in hell will anyone support Sarah Palin after she abused her powers as govenor. We American are way smarter than that. Lets reject this false character Sarah Palin. I will remain republican as i have been for 43 yrs but I will vote Obama.
Posted by: Nathan | October 28, 2008, 10:10 am 10:10 am
Mike I agree palin would be a good sports commentator if they could substitute another voice for her. Nice to look at but the voice is very irritating…

Obama wins by a small marging.

you are right… I gave the electoral percentage…
here is the breakdown
227 Mccain
311 Obama
Posted by: dl | October 28, 2008, 10:13 am 10:13 am
McCain wins by small margin, because people will suddenly wake up and figure out that the economic crisis was caused by Congress (Democrat) and not by the President (Republican); but this should be old news
Posted by: charles | October 28, 2008, 10:15 am 10:15 am
Democratic tsunami sweeps the country. Obama wins all the states Kerry won and picks up many others, even VA, Colorado, Ohio and Florida.
Electoral College: Obama 348 McCain 189
Popular vote:
Obama 54%
McCain 43%
others 3%
Dems pick up 25-30 seats in the House.
The only suspense left as election day turns into the day after is whether the Dems will reach the magic number of 60 seats in the Senate, as some states are too close to call.
Posted by: hopesprings52 | October 28, 2008, 10:15 am 10:15 am
Obama 52%, McCain 45%, with Obama getting 325 electoral college votes.

This is really sad. I visited by friend who I have not seen in years. I walk to her front yard and in front of me I see a McCain sign and as I turn and look to my left I see a huge forclosure sign. Its sad that no matter what, this women is going threw some rough times still will not vote for Obama. I tried to convince her as a had core republican my self, but she will not say a word. I hate to say it but she was not well imformed and she is not well educated. I received a call from her last night and she said, well Obama is also white so Ill give him a chance. I could not belive my ears but I was happy that my long time friend is now voting for Obama. She also said “I JUST DONT LIKE SARAH PALIN , SHE SOUNDS DUMM”

MCCAIN: 48.2
OBAMA: 46.6
There is no way Obama will win…he is to far radical leftist plus look who he picked for a running mate. I know most of the news channels don’t report it but Joe Biden is an idiot…He can’t spell, he tells a person in a wheelchair to stand up and you could go on and on. People need to remember that the only poll that matters is on 11/4 and people, including the news media, shouldn’t get caught up in poll numbers. Polls are a GUESS….

KAB you are the only person on earth who thinks Sarah Palin is a samrt cookie. Give me a break, Sarah Palin was found quilty of abusing her powers..Did you forget? Did you watch the debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden???? Sarah look and acted like a cartoon character!!!! It was funny. Sarah Palin can not stand toe to toe with Joe Biden. Joe Biden is far superior that Sarah. Thats a fact.

When it comes down to it on Novemebr 4, and you are alone in the voting booth, all those undecided, will vote McCain/Palin.
The question becomes, how will all the uneducated react to Obama losing? It will be scary.

McCain 45%

Obama by 4% points. Sad he should win by 20%. As a long time republican for over 45 years, all I can say Obama is a decent man, a good husband and great father of two very cute girls. Judging by the way he acts under pressure he will b a great president. I hope we all act like decent Amerincans and make the correct choice.

Jess Ann, you are right..Polls are so NOT scientific. It is the media driving all these phony numbers.
How many people in this forum have been polled. I bet not one single person.
McCain wins popular and electoral.
Posted by: darrylfromIndy | October 28, 2008, 10:40 am 10:40 am
Can anyone convince me rationally and logically why my vote on ll/4 counts, given all the crap going on in both campaigns, and especially because of the archaic electoral system? Perhaps we would be better off with everyone NOT voting, which would be a vote to change the system.

Well, lets see have you look at some of those rallys!!!! Talk about uneducated folks!!!!Sarah Palin will get her share of uneducated voter. Only smart voter will vote smart this time.
I dont think this will be the case. Un deciders will not vote for McCain becouse they are smarter than that. Not this time. I spoke to alot of un deciders who flat out told me that they wwere leaning towards obama this is the reasons why:
MCCAIN LOOKS AND ACTS ILL AND IF HE DIES SARAH PALIN WILL TAKE OVER, A VERY SCARY SCENARIO, KNOWING THAT SHE IS NOT QUALIFY OR READY TO BE IN CHARGE.
THEY DONT LIKE THE FACT THAT SARAH PALIN ABUSED HER POWERS AS A GOVERNOR, AFACT.
THEY ARE REJECTING THE NEGATIVITY OF THE MCCAIN CAMPAING.
MCCAIN JUST DONT UNDERSTAND THE ECONOMIC SITUATION WERE ARE IN, PERIOD.
With tha said Un deciders will vote Obama. Sarah Palin is too risky.
As a moderate Republican I will vote smart this time. Obama/Biden.

I come from a traditionally Red State but have always voted Democratic. I continue to support Obama due to his intellect and foresight as to how to repair our broken economy. It will take new thoughts and ideas on how to encourage the economy to stir not the same old politics that got us in this mess to start with. Obama 53% McCain 43% Others 4%

darrylfromIndy,
Keep dreaming buddy.
I hope you will be able to wake up on Nov. 5th.
Pollsters interview 1,000 out of 300,000,000 Americans. Do the math and tell me the odds of your being polled especially if you live in a non-swing stae like NJ.
Posted by: Steve_NJ | October 28, 2008, 10:48 am 10:48 am
I agree a new ABC poll shows Obama is leading Independent voters by a huge margin. I really dont see anyone voting for McCain. Sarah Palin is the one to blame.
Posted by: Jill | October 28, 2008, 10:49 am 10:49 am
Stevo- You are Wrongo. Did you just make this up?
That is not how polling works. CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC just make this crap up to convince uneducated voters and to sway them.

John, I am far from mad. You are right, we are all Americans.
Bush has been given a bad rap over the Iraq war. At least he is a man of character and integrity. How could anyone endorse a party who put a man in the Whitehouse who committed adultery right under his wifes nose and in the PEOPLES HOUSE. Answer: A Liberal.

If I went to NewYork and stood outside the Production RENT and polled people as they exited….how many McCains would I get. Probably none. This is how polls work.
