EmailABC’s George Stephanopoulos looks at where Obama stands today in some key states. Obama, right now, is leading in every state that John Kerry won in 2004 and is tied or slightly ahead in a handful of others.

Obama is leading because of the issues. The destinations that John McCain is steering the Straight Talk Express are Rumorville and Innuendoland. These places are not appealing with the economy in disarray and a war lingering in the Middle East.

The Republicans knew at some point through the election Obama’s lead would widen. Unless McCain causes a game changer tonight this race is officially over.
Based on the electoral map Obama is leading by a landslide. 28 days left.

Maybe Obama/Biden is ahead because he’s better than McCain/Palin in every way except slandering, lying, rumors and implied racism.
What about McCain’s association with the neo-NAZI group that support the Death Squads during the Iran-Contra debacle? He was an adult when he associated with this group…not an eight year old child.

Sarah Palin stating that Obama ‘pals around with terrorists’ was the final act for McCain. It’s ludacris on every level, not to imagine odd given that Palin’s husband was a member of a secession group in Alaska. McCain’s desperation and anger are not going to turn his bus from driving into another dead end on the campaign trail. McCain has lost on the issues. His desperation and anger are palpable and sad.

McCain will lose because more voters will see that he would be a repeat of Bush’s policies and because they want real change, not just slogans. They also know the difference between an unbranded lost steer (maverick) and a bum steer which is what his election would bring.

I think historians will look at the Palin gimmick as the downfall of McCain. Sure there was ‘irrational exuberance’ from the GOP to have a young woman on the ticket. However, as she stumbled though interviews and provided only the highest level talking points in the debate, we have seen she is not prepared. We have also exposed the man behind the curtain. John McCain should have been a Maverick and picked Tom Ridge, a much more experienced and ready candidate. If he wanted a woman on the ticket there were many more qualified applicants from which to select.

the problem with this country is that most people/voters dont have a clue to begin with. they are too busy scurrying about trying to survive to have a chance to do much of anything though, thanks to the republican ruined economy.
the democratic party should be able to run a hamster against the republicans best candidate , and still win by a landslide.

toto is right. mccain’s dumb temperment and ego prevented him from choosing a better vp candidate. if he had chosen romney, would he have left michigan last week? if he chooses someone actually capable of mind, then he gets an assistant who can make rational arguments against obama/biden rather than snipes about patriotism, race, and other blather.
mccain has noone to blame but himself – he has a penchant to panic and wild swings when calmness is needed. i don’t blame palin except for being too dumb to realize she wasn’t ready for this – kind of like someone offered a line of credit or mortgage they couldn’t afford.

youre a voter ,yet you dont understand the problem. you are blaming the homeowners who took the loans but the REAL problem was that the loan companies LIED to the homeowners and DECEIVED them. then the bad loans were packaged out as securities and sold ,which never should have been allowed under any “good” and/or “intelligent” government rule.
what was missing would be called GOVERNMENTAL “oversight” and/or “regulation”. what was NOT missing was GREED AND INCOMPETENCE. the latter 2 attributes have always had strong support from the conservatives ,but dont say oversight or regulation to them , those are dirty words to a capitalist money mongering republican.
to (tacitly or patently) let banks and private lenders or whoever go willy nilly through the generally naive and more or less ignorant american public is at least immoral and at most illegal.
that is NOT what a government is supposed to be doing ,especiallyu when they are the ones setting the economic table , governing by wink and nod ,the sec and the fdic among others.
now over the last 8 years the REPUBLICANS have had majority rule ,so the blame is mostly ,if not all theirs .
no committee can make any law or appropriation without house approval of some kind ,so THATS why almost every screw up over the past 8 (at least) years can be almost wholly attributed to the republican agenda = disaster for everyone but the wealthy…WAKE UP!!!!

John Kerry lost, just as obama will.
Obama ran on exploiting the war, and the cost of the war, and turning the people against their President and against their Government.
We won the war, with few causalities than any other war of this scale in history.
We remain in Iraq due to humanitarian reasons. To assist and protect the new government until they can do that for themselves.
His campaign to turn the Country against their President, By pointing fingers and Blaming Bush for everything wrong in peoples lives, the country and the world, encouraging others to blame and hate their President, Repetitively
Mr Obama has no respect for the President or the Positions of President.

Mr Obama is a Jr Senator, with next to no Congressional Background, poor attendance record and extremely poor voting record.
He does not commit himself to anything.
He changes his mind, his policies and platform to serve his needs and to attract votes. Not for the needs of the country or the people.
The voters that put in office as a Senator are still waiting for him to fulfill his promises to them.
His major accomplishment has been to run for one office after the next and Giving a speech.
Mr Obama is the weakest link.
With his close friendships of over 20 years, with Communist, Muslim supporters and Anti Americans. He should never be President.
Makes him a Dangerous Person to have all the countries top secrets.
I have a bigger responsibility to my Country than my party 40 year voting memnber, and knowing the above I have to make the responsible decision and Say No way Obama.

Americans have always had issues; This race is not about the issues. For me its about who can you trust. How deep has the enemy entrenched itself into our american life style. Did we not learn anything from 9/11. The terrorist were educated, and trained right in our back yard. Obama is not trust worthy, nor is Michelle.

McCain cannot be trusted. He postures himself one way, but acts another. He trumpets his military and POW status, but votes, again and again, against military and veterans support issues. He voted 17 times in the last five years for de-regulation; now he claims to be in favor of regulation. He says he is a Maverick, yet he has voted 90% of the time with failed G.W. Bush. He rails against Freddie/Fannie abuses but hired 19 former FF lobbyists for his campaign. He seeks economic advice from Phil Gramm who says our economy is fundamentally strong and that we are a nation of whiners. He is running one of the nastiest campaigns in years.
