Of course Sarah Palin is a drag on John McCain’s “bridge to the White House”. He chose her strictly for the benefit of one family in America-HIS– and then runs on a Country First ticket. Mrs. McCain has made it abundantly clear that she plans to remain in Arizona running daddy’s business and wants little to do with Washington D.C. so Senator McCain will need a surrogate “first lady”. He gives the American people way too much credit for being STUPID!!! I for one do not want to take the chance, I guess I am not a gambler like John–but I don’t have the money to be–on President Palin being in labor when the next crisis takes place or having to answer a tough question, Like what newspaper she reads.

McCain and Couric Spar on Gotcha Journalism
COURIC: Over the weekend, Gov. Palin, you said the U.S. should absolutely launch cross-border attacks from Afghanistan into Pakistan to, quote, “stop the terrorists from coming any further in.” Now, that’s almost the exact position that Barack Obama has taken and that you, Sen. McCain, have criticized as something you do not say out loud. So, Gov. Palin, are you two on the same page on this?
MCCAIN: Now, just a minute, Katie. I have to step in here. That’s another example of the media’s “gotcha journalism”…
COURIC: But, it was a question from a citizen. How is a citizen asking a candidate a question an example of what you call “gotcha journalism?”
MCCAIN: Because it was hard, Katie.
We don’t want Gov. Palin to be asked questions, unless she is prepared for them. When she is prepared, as she will be before the debate, she sounds intelligent, knowledgeable and feisty. But when she has not been prepared, she sounds lost and incoherent.
We can’t have people asking her questions before she has had time to be prepared with an answer.
COURIC: But, Sen. McCain, I have to say, you are 72-years old. Actuarial preditions show that if you were to be elected, Gov. Palin would have a 1 in 5 chance of actually becoming President. These are perilous times–unprecedented crises in financial markets, tensions across a wide range of critical foreign policy arenas. Shouldn’t we have a Vice President, and a potential President, who actually understands these issues, beyond the preparation necessary for a debate?
Here is her response to a question on the economy, a critical issue, you would agree, Sen. McCain:
COURIC: Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries; allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?
PALIN: That’s why I say I, like every American I’m speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—it’s got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we’ve got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we’ve got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.
COURIC: That answer, Sen. McCain, as noted by Fareed Zakaria, is incoherent.
MCCAIN: Yes. (nodding his head, smiling).
COURIC: Well, isn’t it actually important that a potential President actually comprehend issues? That is, beyond debate preparation?
MCCAIN: No, Katie. That’s what I mean by “gotcha journalism”. It’s obvious from these prior interviews that Palin has little to no comprehension of fiscal policy and economics. For heaven’s sake, she received a “D” in macroeconomics in college! And, as I’ve said in the past, I have little understanding of economic issues myself.
No, what’s important, Katie, is that she sound like she understands the issues. In the debate. If she is sufficiently prepared, she can give an illusion of understanding the issues–even if she is only giving answers with the prepared and practiced spontaneity and content necessary to give that illusion force.
Given that the bar is set at the lowest standard imaginable, Katie, if she accompanies that performance with sufficient charm, we believe that media will follow, into focusing on the change from that low standard, and on those superficial entertainment values–you know, Katie, (McCain smiles through tight lips and squinting eyes and moves his hands up and down)–”She certainly appears to be more confident tonight; she appears more poised, coherent, humorous”–rather than her readiness to be President from an objective standard. After all, using the more important standard of Presdidential capability, she has already demonstrated that she is unprepared to be President.
So, Katie, we want them to focus on that difference, on her debate preparation, rather than on her actual well-demonstrated Presidential unreadiness. And that’s what I mean by “gotcha journalism.”
KATIE: But if I understand you correctly, Sen. McCain, you actually believe that it’s not important that she understand the issues actually facing the nation…
MCCAIN: Right.(nodding)
COURIC: On which many people’s very jobs, health and life will rely at this critical time…
MCCAIN: Yes.
COURIC: And that all that really matters is creating a standard so low that she actually is rewarded for her widely seen and repeatedly demonstrated lack of knowledge and understanding. That we would be using what is essentially a remedial standard for Presidential capability–rather than one of actual capability.
Sen. McCain, you seem to be actually suggesting that we should decide that she is ready for the Presidency, simply because, after preparation, she has improved. Even though just days earlier, time after time, she was unable to give coherent answers on these subjects.
No one can gain Presidential-level understanding in days. And in the office of the Presidency, with its intense crises and unforseeable events, she will not be prepared for each unpredictable day, as she was for the debate.
Yet you expect media to focus on these values, rather than actual readiness to be President. That’s what you mean by “gotcha journalism”?
MCCAIN: Exactly. And they will. Katie, I would say to the media: Once again–we “gotcha” to lower the bar. We “gotcha” to set expectations far below those actually required for a President. We “gotcha” to focus on characteristics unrelated to Presidential capability, and to ignore her statements on these issues made only days earlier–as if a few days of debate preparation can erase a glaring and dangerous actual lack of knowledge and preparedness. Yes, indeed–we “gotcha”. (smiles).
COURIC: How can you expect the media to fall for that?
MCCAIN: It worked for Bush.

“Cherchez la femme,” advised Alexander Dumas in: “When you want to uncover an unspecified secret, look for the woman.” In the case of Barack Obama, we have two: his late mother, the went-native anthropologist Ann Dunham, and his rancorous wife Michelle. Obama’s women reveal his secret: he hates America.
We know less about Senator Obama than about any prospective president in American history. His uplifting rhetoric is empty, as Hillary Clinton helplessly protests. His career bears no trace of his own character, not an article for the Harvard Law Review he
edited, or a single piece of legislation. He appears to be an empty vessel filled with the wishful thinking of those around him. But there is a real Barack Obama. No man – least of all one abandoned in infancy by his father – can conceal the imprint of an impassioned mother, or the influence of a brilliant wife.
America is not the embodiment of hope, but the abandonment of one kind of hope in return for another. America is the spirit of creative destruction, selecting immigrants willing to turn their back on the tragedy of their own failing culture in return for a new start. Its creative success is so enormous that its global influence hastens the decline of other cultures. For those on the destruction side of the trade, America is a monster. Between half and nine-tenths of the world’s 6,700 spoken languages will become extinct in the next century, and the anguish of dying peoples rises up in a global cry of despair. Some of those who listen to this cry become anthropologists, the curators of soon-to-be extinct cultures; anthropologists who really identify with their subjects marry them. Obama’s mother, the University of Hawaii anthropologist Ann Dunham, did so twice.
Obama profiles Americans the way anthropologists interact with primitive peoples. He holds his own view in reserve and emphatically draws out the feelings of others; that is how friends and colleagues describe his modus operandi since his days at the Harvard Law Review, through his years as a community activist in Chicago, and in national politics. Anthropologists, though, proceed from resentment against the devouring culture of America and sympathy with the endangered cultures of the primitive world. Obama inverts the anthropological model: he applies the tools of cultural manipulation out of resentment against America. The probable next president of the United States is a mother’s revenge against the America she despised.
Ann Dunham died in 1995, and her character emerges piecemeal from the historical record, to which I will return below. But Michelle Obama is a living witness. Her February 18 comment that she felt proud of her country for the first time caused a minor scandal, and was hastily qualified. But she meant it, and more. The video footage of her remarks shows eyes hooded with rage as she declares:
For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.
The desperation, frustration and disappointment visible on Michelle Obama’s face are not new to the candidate’s wife; as Steve Sailer, Rod Dreher and other commentators have noted, they were the theme of her undergraduate thesis, on the subject of “blackness” at Princeton University. No matter what the good intentions of Princeton, which founded her fortunes as a well-paid corporate lawyer, she wrote, “My experiences at Princeton have made me far more aware of my ‘Blackness’ than ever before. I have found that at Princeton no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my White professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don’t belong.”
Never underestimate the influence of a wife who bitch-slaps her husband in public. Early in Obama’s campaign, Michelle Obama could not restrain herself from belittling the senator. “I have some difficulty reconciling the two images I have of Barack Obama. There’s Barack Obama the phenomenon. He’s an amazing orator, Harvard Law Review, or whatever it was, law professor, best-selling author, Grammy winner. Pretty amazing, right? And then there’s the Barack Obama that lives with me in my house, and that guy’s a little less impressive,” she told a fundraiser in February 2007.
“For some reason this guy still can’t manage to put the butter up when he makes toast, secure the bread so that it doesn’t get stale, and his five-year-old is still better at making the bed than he is.” New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd reported at the time, “She added that the TV version of Barack Obama sounded really interesting and that she’d like to meet him sometime.” Her handlers have convinced her to be more tactful since then.
“Frustration” and “disappointment” have dogged Michelle Obama these past 20 years, despite her US$300,000 a year salary and corporate board memberships. It is hard for the descendants of slaves not to resent America. They were not voluntary immigrants but kidnap victims, subjected to a century of second-class citizenship even after the Civil War ended slavery. Blackness is not the issue; General Colin Powell, whose parents chose to immigrate to America from the West Indies, saw America just as other immigrants do, as a land of opportunity. Obama’s choice of wife is a failsafe indicator of his own sentiments. Spouses do not necessarily share their likes, but they must have their hatreds in common. Obama imbibed this hatred with his mother’s milk.
Michelle Obama speaks with greater warmth of her mother-in-law than of her husband. “She was kind of a dreamer, his mother,” Michelle Obama was quoted in the January 25 Boston Globe. “She wanted the world to be open to her and her children. And as a result of her naivete, sometimes they lived on food stamps, because sometimes dreams don’t pay the rent. But as a result of her naivete, Barack got to see the world like most of us don’t in this country.” How strong the ideological motivation must be of a mother to raise her children on the thin fair in pursuit of a political agenda.
“Naivete” is a euphemism for Ann Dunham’s motivation. Friends describe her as a “fellow traveler”, that is, a communist sympathizer, from her youth, according to a March 27, 2007, Chicago Tribune report. Many Americans harbor leftist views, but not many marry into them, twice. Ann Dunham met and married the Kenyan economics student Barack Obama, Sr, at the University of Hawaii in 1960, and in 1967 married the Indonesian student Lolo Soetero. It is unclear why Soetero’s student visa was revoked in 1967 – the fact but not the cause are noted in press accounts. But it is probable that the change in government in Indonesia in 1967, in which the leftist leader Sukarno was deposed, was the motivation.
Soetero had been sponsored as a graduate student by one of the most radical of all Third World governments. Sukarno had founded the so-called Non-Aligned Movement as an anti-colonialist turn at the 1955 Bandung Conference in Indonesia. Before deposing him in 1967, Indonesia’s military slaughtered 500,000 communists (or unfortunates who were mistaken for communists). When Ann Dunham chose to follow Lolo Soetero to Indonesia in 1967, she brought the six-year-old Barack into the kitchen of anti-colonialist outrage, immediate following one of the worst episodes of civil violence in post-war history.
Dunham’s experience in Indonesia provided the material for a doctoral dissertation celebrating the hardiness of local cultures against the encroaching metropolis. It was entitled, “Peasant blacksmithing in Indonesia: surviving against all odds”. In this respect Dunham remained within the mainstream of her discipline. Anthropology broke into popular awareness with Margaret Mead’s long-discredited Coming of Age in Samoa (1928), which offered a falsified ideal of sexual liberation in the South Pacific as an alternative to the supposedly repressive West. Mead’s work was one of the founding documents of the sexual revolution of the 1960s, and anthropology faculties stood at the left-wing fringe of American universities.
In the Global South, anthropologists went into the field and took matters a step further. Peru’s brutal Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) guerilla movement was the brainchild of the anthropologist
Efrain Morote Best, who headed the University of San Cristobal of Huamanga in Ayacucho, Peru, between 1962 and 1968. Dunham’s radicalism was more vicarious; she ended her career as an employee of international organizations.
Barack Obama received at least some instruction in the Islamic faith of his father and went with him to the mosque, but the importance of this experience is vastly overstated by conservative commentators who seek to portray Obama as a Muslim of sorts. Radical anti-Americanism, rather than Islam, was the reigning faith in the Dunham household. In the Muslim world of the 1960s, nationalism rather than radical Islam was the ideology of choice among the enraged. Radical Islam did not emerge as a major
political force until the nationalism of a Gamal Abdel Nasser or a Sukarno failed.
Barack Obama is a clever fellow who imbibed hatred of America with his mother’s milk, but worked his way up the elite ladder of education and career. He shares the resentment of Muslims against the encroachment of American culture, although not their religion. He has the empathetic skill set of an anthropologist who lives with his subjects, learns their language, and elicits their hopes and fears while remaining at emotional distance. That is, he is the political equivalent of a sociopath. The difference is that he is practicing not on a primitive tribe but on the population of the United States.
There is nothing mysterious about Obama’s methods. “A demagogue tries to sound as stupid as his audience so that they will think they are as clever as he is,” wrote Karl Krauss. Americans are the world’s biggest suckers, and laugh at this weakness in their popular culture. Listening to Obama speak, Sinclair Lewis’ cynical tent-revivalist Elmer Gantry comes to mind, or, even better, Tyrone Power’s portrayal of a carnival mentalist in the 1947 film noire Nightmare Alley. The latter is available for instant viewing at Netflix, and highly recommended as an antidote to having felt uplifted by an Obama speech.
America has the great misfortune to have encountered Obama at the peak of his powers at its worst moment of vulnerability in a generation. With malice aforethought, he has sought out their sore point.
Since the Ronald Reagan boom began in 1984, the year the American stock market doubled, Americans have enjoyed a quarter-century of rising wealth. Even the collapse of the Internet bubble in 2000 did not interrupt the upward trajectory of household assets, as the housing price boom eclipsed the effect of equity market weakness. America’s success made it a magnet for the world’s savings, and Americans came to believe that they were riding a boom that would last forever, as I wrote recently [1].
Americans regard upward mobility as a God-given right. America had a double founding, as David Hackett Fischer showed in his 1989 study, Albion’s Seed . Two kinds of immigrants founded America: religious dissidents seeking a new Promised Land, and economic opportunists looking to get rich quick. Both elements still are present, but the course of the past quarter-century has made wealth-creation the sine qua non of American life. Now for the first time in a generation Americans have become poorer, and many of them have become much poorer due to the collapse of home prices. Unlike the Reagan years, when cutting the top tax rate from a punitive 70% to a more tolerable 40% was sufficient to start an economic boom, no lever of economic policy is available to fix the problem. Americans have no choice but to work harder, retire later, save more and retrench.
This reversal has provoked a national mood of existential crisis. In Europe, economic downturns do not inspire this kind of soul-searching, for richer are poorer, remain what they always have been. But Americans are what they make of themselves, and the slim makings of 2008 shake their sense of identity. Americans have no institutionalized culture to fall back on. Their national religion has consisted of waves of enthusiasm – “Great Awakenings” – every second generation or so, followed by an interim of apathy. In times of stress they have a baleful susceptibility to hucksters and conmen.
Be afraid – be very afraid. America is at a low point in its fortunes, and feeling sorry for itself. When Barack utters the word “hope”, they instead hear, “handout”. A cynic might translate the national motto, E pluribus unum, as “something for nothing”. Now that the stock market and the housing market have failed to give Americans something for nothing, they want something for nothing from the government. The trouble is that he who gets something for nothing will earn every penny of it, twice over.
The George W Bush administration has squandered a great strategic advantage in a sorry lampoon of nation-building in the Muslim world, and has made enemies out of countries that might have been friendly rivals, notably Russia. Americans question the premise of America’s standing as a global superpower, and of the promise of upward mobility and wealth-creation. If elected, Barack Obama will do his utmost to destroy the dual premises of America’s standing. It might take the country another generation to recover.
“Evil will oft evil mars”, J R R Tolkien wrote. It is conceivable that Barack Obama, if elected, will destroy himself before he destroys the country. Hatred is a toxic diet even for someone with as strong a stomach as Obama. As he recalled in his 1995 autobiography, Dreams From My Father, Obama idealized the Kenyan economist who had married and dumped his mother, and was saddened to learn that Barack Hussein Obama, Sr, was a sullen, drunken polygamist. The elder Obama became a senior official of the government of Kenya after earning a PhD at Harvard. He was an abusive drunk and philanderer whose temper soured his career.
The senior Obama died in a 1982 car crash. Kenyan government officials in those days normally spent their nights drinking themselves stupid at the Pan-Afrique Hotel. Two or three of them would be found with their Mercedes wrapped around a palm tree every morning. During the 1970s I came to know a number of them, mostly British-educated hollow men dying inside of their own hypocrisy and corruption.
Both Obama and the American public should be very careful of what they wish for. As the horrible example of Obama’s father shows, there is nothing worse for an embittered outsider manipulating the system from within than to achieve his goals – and nothing can be more terrible for the system. Even those who despise America for its blunders of the past few years should ask themselves whether the world will be a safer place if America retreats into a self-pitying shell.

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who’s hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Palin and her bid.
The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Palin is a ‘Post Turtle’”.
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a ‘post turtle’ was.
The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a ‘post turtle”.
The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor’s face so he continued to explain. “You know she didn’t get up there by herself, she doesn’t belong up there, and she doesn’t know what to do while she’s up there, and you just wonder what kind of idiot put her up there to begin with”.

The Palin pick goes to McCain’s judgement. He has told us by picking Palin, that he does not respect the office of the Presidency, nor does he “put country first” as he claims. He has chosen someone who is totally unqualified. He has made a mockery of the office of the Presidency of the United States.

I don’t like Palin one bit. That being said, I believe she will do just fine tonight. This is a debate, not an interview. The moderator simply asks questions and just like Hannity will not press her on any issue. That is Biden’s job. Unfortunately Biden will be on a short leash tonight as the research shows that if he attacks he will make women mad. If he doesn’t he will appear to be a wimp. Palin on the other hand will be her snide, condescending self and get away with it. That will be looked upon as a win. Let’s face it, if she just shows up and doesn’t throw up on stage, she will be deemed worthy or even the winner. Biden is pretty much in a no win situation. Palin knows this and if she has any sense at all (her handlers know this) she will attack Biden full force. That’s just the way it is.

I am sure there are many polls in the heart of america that show that Palin is winning people’s minds and hearts. It shows that the media is not partial.

I think most women in America want to see a real debate, not a social tea party event. To reduce this debate to Palin’s level is a disservice to America’s woman. Any well experienced and well versed woman (Rice, Snow) can easily stand her ground and present her knowledge, wisdom, and credientials without fear of any sort. The problem here is that Palin lacks all those elements and is going to depend on being treated differently. Thus, her ace in the hole is that anything Biden says will be seen as “unfair” or “sexist” simply because she is a female. I can not believe what I am reading!! I was (note: WAS) an ABC watcher until this election. NEVER have I witnessed in the past 50 years a more Liberal view for the Democrates than this election. I no longer watch Diane,Robin and Chris. It breaks my heart to know the bias from this station. I used to think there was fair and balanced reporting. Now I watch FOX News and ONLY Fox! When is the last time you complained about talk radio being ran by conservatives. And I would say Obama been treated the same way. You know, when they talk about wright, ayers, Rezko. When you agree, it good journalism, when you don’t, It biased media.

Stephanopoulos is simply stating the poll numbers. They clearly show people are unhappy with Palin. The day she was announced it was clear she had very little experience. Mayor of a tiny town and around 19 months as governor of a state with fewer people than many cities. Her biggest accomplishment was unsucessfully trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired. She couldn’t even manage to pull that off!

The SNL skit with Tina Fey giving a surrealistically stream-of-conscious answer with every talking pt thrown in was cleverly written, I thought.
I was stunned when the news shows aired clips that it was Palin’s answer VERBATIM!

With the outright lies and level of hypocrisy that have come to characterize the McCain campaign, I can only think of one word to describe it: surreal. Yes, this McCain campaign is feeling more and more surreal each day.

kent: There are a lot of comments about how long with McCain live. I didn’t know that so many people can determine how long a person is going to live. Its amazing. And who cares. Palin will use her “charm” at tonight’s debate to try to overshadow the fact that she is completely inept! Wake up America. “Leadership experience” of a small town and even of a state means absolutely nothing when a person lacks even a basic understanding of key national economic and international issues.

Historically, VPs did not matter to the ticket, male OR female, unless they said something so stupid it could not be ignored. So far it seems Tina Fay is the only one who’s made stupid statements trying to imitate her. We haven’t heard anything from Sarah Palin herself.
Biden, on the other hand said that Roosevelt did a wonderful job on television when television never even existed until long after Roosevelt’s death. He’s said the rich need to be “patrotic” and pay higher taxes as a “contribution”. Try telling the IRS you’re don’t want to make a “contribution” this year.
The media and George Stephanopoulos says Biden is a great debater and public speaker while Palin is a “drag on the Republican ticket”.
The REAL problem is that Palin is a Republican. That means she loses the debate and the election long before either one of them ever happen.
Well, my suggestion is, keep it up. Nancy Pelosi made a wonderful anti-Republican statement the other day and Obama went down in the polls about 5 points.
If Obama wins the election, I hope he enjoys his innaugration. It will be the ONLY high point in his presidency. Two years later, the Republicans get a super majority in both houses of Congress and Obama will be reduced to being a figurehead.

Why is the media making such a big deal out of Gov Palin spending time in AZ. preparing for the debate, when Obama spent at least three days preparing for his debate and they hardly mentioned it. Is this another attempt at tyring to make her look unprepared and less than smart.

While there is little doubt Obama will win, there is no excuse for the bias that has been shown by the media in this race. The argument is not whether Palin made stupid statements, but whether the stupid statements of all candidates will be examined. You won’t see any routines on SNL with Obama saying he campaigned in all 57 states, that we must transfer our Arabic translators to Afghanistan where they don’t speak Arabic or that 10,000 people died in a tornado when only 10 did. It was this type of media bias that got us into the Iraq war but now it seems to be fine for those who support Obama. You can bet that this will also come back to haunt us within a few years.

Sarah Palin is a grown woman. She has put herself out there and should be woman enough to take the criticism, if she isn’t then she shouldn’t be on the ticket. This isn’t her first debate. People need to stop posturing and making excuses for her before the debate begins. The Republican party and the Democratic party agreed to the moderators of each debate long ago. These weren’t last minute decisions. People keep stating how competent Sarah Palin is… then let her fight her own fight.

Would you vote for President Sarah Palin? I wouldn’t. His book called The Audacity Of Hope was taken from the sermon of his pastor Wright who was preaching that when Obama was in church. Having voted Democrat in past elections, I have a definite leaning toward that party and its candidates. However, I am not blind to partisan journalism, and am increasingly dismayed and appalled at ABC News for their obvious slanting of anything regarding Palin. Look at their choice of headlines for every Palin story. Are those words fair and balanced? Are those words non-inflamatory? ABC News presents their opinion in the headlines, before the reader even has a chance to see the story. All their Palin articles should be presented as Opinion/Editorials rather than competent, unbiased reporting. I would probably draw the same negative conclusions as ABC News already has, but would prefer to do that after reading the article, rather than having that decision made for me in the sensationalist, negative words carefully chosen for effect in the headlines (ABC, can you spell “National Enquirer”?).

1. his actions are based on gut feelings
2. when things are not going his way he just reaches out and grabs at anything that looks hopeful with little or no examination of consequences.
3. when (2.) dos’nt work he then resorts to “destroy mode” with zero regards to friends or his responsibilities and or supporters.
It seems weird that thinking people might support him for the most powerful position in the world.

I think Stephanopoulos should stay neutral instead of directly saying Palin a problem.
He should not do that.
You know, when he says that, that helps Obama more.

What an incredibly scary, truly scary, scenario. I cannot imagine why people say that they want to vote for her be cause they thing she is just like them. Don’t these people REALIZE that THEY would make horrific VP or Presidential choices too! I don’t understand the country I live in except to say this is how you get the phrase “ugly American” to be invented in the European lexicon. A base SO GROSSLY uneducated about the basics of adult life resposibilities in this area that it is mind boggling to so many (and Ugly). But this is what W road through on in the R ticket twice — it makes me ill.
Also, one thing I haven’t seen brought up with Sarah Palin, is it seems like there might be the ‘Emperor’s Wearing No Cloths’ story going on with her where the people around her aren’t really honest with her and just let her go on making a rambling airhead of herself on national TV and call it endearing to the common American people or the like (yeah, some of them are UNcommon alright).

Biden can be a little mouthy but he is a very sharp man. I too agree that if Palin had a few more months she would jump ship in a heartbeat. Wasn’t Bill Clinton a governor and didn’t they say he didn’t have any foreign policy experience on PBS?? And didn’t Lanny Davis and James Carville say, that Bill Clinton had to be caught up on foreign affairs for months. Obama is on the top of the ticket. I think David Gergen said that Obama had to be brought up to to speed about world affairs which is was extremely lacking. McCain has the experience to handle foreign affairs. Palin has more experience that Obama does. I trust her over Obama. She runs the finances of her state. She runs the largest energy operations in the United States of the largest state. She was elected mayor of her hometown by more votes than Biden received in his national presidential campaign. She is the commander and chief of her state’s National Guard therefore, she has experience of the military and their operations. She took on her own party for corruption and you dare ridicule her and say she could not handle difficult decisions nor be wise or independent of issues. She’s not owned by anyone. She’s not corrupt. She is a fresh and exciting person who will be an asset to our country.

These interviews are bloody attack pieces done with malice and forethought. The innocent little “questions” are all about culture, about being a Washington insider, and not about substance. Read your history people, the fact that second term presidents do worse than their 1st term should show you that there is no such thing as qualified to be President or Vice President. I might add that the current President is a grossly prime example of this.
I might also add that this IS the United States of America; we have no royalty ascension to the President or Vice President. Now let me point out something to you “she’s not qualified” crowd. There is NO school for President or Vice President; there is no check list for President or Vice President.
Your argument for a “qualified person” would most likely be championed by 2nd term presidents. But notoriously almost all, if not all, 2nd term presidents have done a terrible job in their 2nd term. Read your history people, the fact that second term presidents do worse than their 1st term should show you that there is no such thing as qualified to be President or Vice President. It doesn’t really matter what questions she is asked, because it won’t be a real debate. She has a whole collection of little pre-prepared speeches and she will haul out one or another with each “answer,” no matter what the question is.
Almost all her little speeches will be attacks on Obama and Biden, whether or not they are relevant to the question. She will do what she can to get the focus off of herself.
And anything she says about herself and McCain will be vague generalities that she thinks we, the people, want to hear. Specifically, it will be what she thinks “Joe Six-Pack” wants to hear.
This is what’s going to happen!
Hopefully there will be some gaffes from both sides, that should keep it entertaining. But there will be no surprises from Sarah Palin.

McCain has two things Obama will never have and those are credible experience and character. McCain is swimming upstream against the media, an unpopular President who could have done a LOT better job, a Chicago thug politician with a socialist streak a mile wide and a separationist view of the races and he wants to lead our republic. I hope not. It is the democrats who bear nearly all the responsibility for the Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac debacle, by laws passed and even when more regulation was requested, the dems shot it down. That is a major contributor to the current fiscal crisis and Reid and others share a majority of the blame, all the way back to President Carter. Even President Clinton recognized that. The democrats put forth a candidate unqualified to be President by experience and certainly with a cut and run mentality not qualified in any manner to be Commander-in-Chief. Only blind, loyal democrats would select a socialist to lead a republic into chaos. Be very careful what you wish for, you might just get it. Palin is as qualified as Obama, and she is in the VP slot, not the Presidential slot. There will be no fairness in the party that so loves the fairness doctrine. What hypocrites. Um, first of all, thinking that someone is unfit to lead seems like a pretty good “excuse” for criticizing their candidacy.
