Al Qaeda’s Inaugural Message For Obama
Much has been made over the last several months about what an Obama victory might mean for terrorists who aim to harm the United States. Specifically, there was this optimistic proposition: That it would be manifestly more difficult for, say, an Islamic militant to summon rage against a man named Barack Hussein Obama, who has roots in Africa and Indonesia, and who opposed the war in Iraq, than it was to stoke hatred of the Bush Administration. Well, the jury is and will be out for some time, of course, but this morning we have heard — for the first time in two months — from Ayman al-Zawahiri, the number two figure in the Al Qaeda organization. His statement today represents Al Qaeda’s first message to Barack Obama.
"You have reached the position of president, and a heavy legacy of failure and crimes awaits you…You represent the direct opposite of honorable black Americans like Malik al-Shabazz, or Malcolm X (may Allah have mercy on him). You were born to a Muslim father, but you chose to stand in the ranks of the enemies of the Muslims, and pray the prayer of the Jews, although you claim to be Christian, in order to climb the rungs of leadership in America…As for the crimes of America which await you, it appears that you continue to be captive to the same criminal American mentality towards the world and towards the Muslims…and in you and in Colin Powell, Rice and your likes, the words of Malcolm X (may Allah have mercy on him) concerning ‘House Negroes’ are confirmed."
So — having been falsely identified as a Muslim during the campaign, Obama now stands accused of praying "the prayer of the Jews." It appears that the Obama team will not dignify this with a response.

President-elect Obama or his representatives must NOT respond to this trash in any way. Nor should bloggers here use it to launch into their usual tirades. We in America are in this together and need for our future administration to have its best foot forward to wipe out Osama bin Laden’s hate crew in a united front. Remember 9/11.

The dogma never ends…
I think the old adage is that “there will only be peace in the Middle East when the Arabs love their sons more than they hate the Jews”.

this is just the tip of the iceburg. Ignoring something like this is admitting fear. I am afraid for myself and my family. Change? looks like the same old poop. Yes, let’s unify…why? I didn’t vote for Obama, and I am not supporting him. Remember how GW was treated because you did not like his policies…..well I am the same, but I don’t like BHO. so enjoy……..but just remember to duck and cover, and watch your back while in any foreign country. Boy the change from being safe to being a target is really quite nice.

‘Tirades’ were BEFORE the election.
That’s the election process.
In the USA we fight with words/ideas/ and opinions. That’s the beauty of our political system. I’m sure McCain and Obama have moved on for the most part.
Obama was not the guy I was backing.
Now that he will be our next President, I stand with him.
There were a lot of people on both sides who wondered if Obama can help the war on terror merely by being himself. It could have gone either way.
Now we have more clarity.
This letter from this group is nothing new.
We always knew where our enemies stood.
They want Americans and all Jewish people dead. We get it.
We must remember that they wanted to destroy us long before September llth.
They bombed the Trade Center in NY once before, remember? Remember the USS Cole?
and Somalia?,etc.
This is not a ‘problem’ that Bush created. We can argue back and forth whether Bush added to it or not.
Right now, it is imperative that we learn what works, and what doesn’t, and move on.
We know that negotiation usually doesn’t work with people like this.
We must isolate this group of fanatics from the people who want peace.
Obama’s background and life experiences, and gifts can help gather more support from the rest of the world who want peace.
It won’t help with the fanatics, because that’s their nature – they’re fanatics.
Maybe Obama can pull this off. I hope so.
If he does, he can be King of the Mardi Gras here in New Orleans.
I wish him luck because to do otherwise would only be stupid and foolish.
I believe most people would wish him luck in the long run.
Lets hope so.

Al Qaeda is simply banking on their “successful” ability to stir up doubt and fear in our collective consciousness. 9/11 was and stil is, less about decimating of the twin tower and more about agressively challenging our confidence in our ability to be “safe.” I agree with a previous post, that this little “tantrum” is just another ploy to inject divisiveness and ultimately paralyze the transition process. If President elect Obama is to be good on his promise, Al Qaeda is in for a bumpy ride!
