Obama: ‘The Elections Aren’t Over’
EmailABC News’ Teddy Davis reports: Barack Obama has gingerly entered the fray in the Georgia Senate race, cutting a 60-second radio ad in support of Democrat Jim Martin.
"The elections aren’t over," says Obama in the radio ad after thanking everyone who voted for him. "… I want to urge you to turn out one more time and help elect Jim Martin to the United States Senate."
Georgia is holding a Senate run-off on Dec. 2 because neither Martin, the Democrat, nor Saxby Chambliss, the incumbent Republican senator, received more than 50 percent of the vote on Nov. 4 due to Libertarian Senate candidate Allen Buckley.
When the new Congress convenes next year, Democrats will control a minimum of 58 Senate seats. There are still two races — Georgia (where the run-off is taking place) and Minnesota (where a hand recount is taking place) — that are still undecided.
If Democrats were to win both seats, they would have a filibuster-proof 60 seats in the Senate.

Saxby supported Bush virtually 100% of the time. He should be ashamed of that and for the nasty ads he ran 6 years ago against a war hero. I don’t know of a worse example of a politician, and that is saying a lot with Bush and Cheney.
As for Obama making ads for Martin. That is to be expected. He is the leader of the Democratic Party now. Whether Obama actually appears in Georgia in person will be a measure of how close the runoff actually is. He won’t come here if it looks like Georgia idiot voters re-elect Saxby.
We can only blame our horrible school system here that produces idiots who would vote for such a fool.

It’s payback time for Chambliss. In 2002, he attacked Max Cleland for lack of patriotism. Chambliss did not participate in Vietnam because he said he had a bad knee. But he attacked Max Cleland, a veteran whose war wounds confined him to a wheelchair as being unpatriotic and doing little to serve his country. It was one of the most disgusting attacks in the history of American politics, even by GOP standards. This is the chance to show Chambliss that it is he who dishonors what America stands for. Georgia has another chance to stand proud for America with Max Cleland.

It was outrageous when Chambliss accused wheeelchair confined war hero Max Cleland of being unpatriotic and anti-American in 2002. It was the lowest line of political attack I have ever seen. Hopefully the good people of Georgia will give Chambliss the boot!

Just to correct a widespread misperception –if the Democrats manage to gain 60 seats in the US Senate, that is not a “filibuster proof” majority.
The simple fact is, filibusters tend to break down along issues, not party lines. All senators consider themselves very independent, which is a senate tradition. As such, they do not vote for or against continuing a filibuster strictly along party lines.
Now –having said that, Saxby Chambliss is a disgrace to the senate and an embarrasment to the great state of Georgia.
Time for him to go the way of Ted Stevens and the other disreputable elements that have dragged down this nation.

You mean to tell me that Obama has an illegal birth certificate? Is he not a nauralized citizen, he has to be to become President. What’s going on? Is he going to be disquailified for office? From what I’ve been hearing in the news, he is experienceing a constitutional crisis with his birth certificate. When will they make Joe Biden President?

I’m no Democrat and I know there are many good Republicans because I work with them in this very red state of Georgia. But I think its an indication of how low the state and national party has sunk when they put their hopes in someone like Saxby Chambliss. He engaged in the sleaziest possible politics in 2002 when he tried to link Max Cleland, a triple amputee Vietnam vet, to terrorists. I was absolutely disgusted. It is my hope that my fellow Georgians will help rid ourselves of this blight on our state.

Obama takes office in a time of terrible trouble. He needs all the help he can get from Congress. It does not worry me if the Democrats get 60 seats, at least not this time around.

If Obama volunteers converge on Georgia by the thousands and contact every person who voted for Obama to get them out to vote either early or on December 2nd, Democrats will win this seat. Period. Low voter turn out is the rule in Georgia in run off elections and the black vote is the path to Martin’s success there. Chamblis was only up by 3% in the first election. The Republican Senate is already threatening the fillibuster–again. They used that to block every regular human friendly bill that came along for the past two years and either blocked or voted against them for the past 12 years. Believe me, you can trust Barack Obama’s veto pen much more than you can trust the Senate republicans. Obama isn’t going to let his party over reach because it would undermine the total job that he has to do over the next 4 to 8 years. So, donate to the DSCC and volunteer in Georgia if you possibly can. This could make all the difference between very little being accomplished and Obama being able to move forward with his agenda to heal the economy. Notice Wall Street went up 500 points today on the strength of his choice of Treasury Secretary. One more time. Let’s go win the Georgia Senate election.

Chambliss represents the Republican Party at its usual game: lie, smear and campaign below the belt. I agree with what Georgia native wrote (paraphrasing) ‘we can blame our school system for producing a public that is idiot enough to vote for someone like Chambliss.’ Truer words were never spoken.

The Republican Party can redeem itself during President Obama’s terms in office. If their main focus is helping to heal our nation, they will gain respect and direction. If they fight the changes that can help our nation because of partisanship, they might as well disband. We,the people, need help and the Republicans are in a position to cooperate in delivering and even in initiating that help. Mr. Obama seeks input for solutions regardless of the source. If it is sound and can be wisely implemented, he welcomes the input – whether it is from within the government or from we the people. Under the new administration, the Republicans have a real chance to redeem themselves. It is their choice.

People vote with their pocketbooks. If the majority of the people believe a democrat would be better for the economy, then a democrat wins, fair and square, period. I believe the cost of living is killing people with modest incomes and that’s why the democrats are being elected in droves. The republicans should take a hint from this but they never do and probably never will because their constituency exist mostly in the wealthy and higher incomes.

You people might as well stop trying to educate the masses on what the constitution says. It will be over the average person’s head. The “dumbing” down of America has already taken hold firmly and cannot be undone (or so it seems) If you people think allegiance to the constitution is the topmost priority on politicians’ mind, I got a newsflash for you – the constitution has gone the way of the dinosaur and will soon become “outdated” and in need of “repair”. It will only be a matter of time before the constitution will be declared so inaccurate that it will be done away with completely. How’s that for patriotic. It is too late now to fix America. I understand people vote with their pocket books. But how in the heck can typical tax and spend Democratic/Socialist politics make any sense to the average taxpayer? Clinton was tolerable because he was more moderate in that area (though he did call for the raising of taxes as soon as he got elected.) Gore was all about the environment even though the economy was down in 2000, but Libs to this day are still crying about the election being ‘stolen’. Kerry’s best chance was Iraq, but the economy was moving up in ’04.
The driving force behind the Democratic Party, the Libs/Communists, don’t care about ‘pocket books’. All they care about is their Leftist ideology (and their egos). That’s why they’re so peeved that Hillary and other Clintonites are back in there-to a Marxist, these guys are sell outs.
What we lack is a clear picture of Democratic vs. Republican economics as far as the average American goes. But with the MSM, Hollywood, and the education system run by Marxists, this isn’t going to happen without doing some leg work on one’s own.
