Palin Aide Offers Strong Rebuke to Criticisms

ABC’s Kate Snow reports: A longtime aide to Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin is lashing back at anonymous critics within the McCain-Palin presidential campaign, telling ABC News they are attacking the former vice presidential candidate with distortions.

Meg Stapleton offers an explanation of some of the more stinging criticisms that have come out in recent days since the McCain-Palin defeat.

Regarding the $150,000 worth of clothing the campaign bought Palin, Stapleton says a New York stylist was given a blank check and told to go and make Palin look presidential.

According to Stapleton, Palin saw a price tag of $3,500 on one outfit and said she didn’t want to wear it. Stapleton says Palin was simply presented with her wardrobe and staff.  Palin was told "here’s your people, here are your clothes.”

Stapleton adds that the McCain staffers tried to hide the cost of the wardrobe. “They said, ‘bill the convention under wardrobe so that the cost could be hidden.’ And then they realized and they were told that’s illegal. So then they said, ‘OK, how do we make this legal and appropriate?’ So they had somebody pay for it and then the RNC (Republican National Committee) would reimburse them.”

According to Stapleton, the campaign said, "’this is what you need as a VP candidate.’ It was the campaign and/or the RNC … But it wasn’t the governor saying this is what she needs."

Stapleton says $150,000 was the original bill for the clothing, but after some merchandise was returned, the cost went down to $107,000.

There was also a directive to buy any and all clothes before Sept. 4, the day the Republican convention in St. Paul ended, so that it could be buried as part of other convention costs. The campaign also bought clothing for the children, so they, too, would look nice, Stapleton added.

Regarding another stinging criticism, Stapleton claims that the Fox News report Thursday — that quoted unnamed sources inside the now defunct McCain campaign, saying Palin didn’t know Africa is a continent — was taken out of context.

Stapleton says that during a briefing session, someone asked Palin to explain the McCain-Palin stance on an issue, and as she was responding, "in the middle, she said, ‘country of Africa’ and somebody instantly wrote it down, and said, ‘Oh, my God, she thinks it’s a country.’"

But Stapleton insists, "She knows it’s a continent. It was just a human mistake, just like Obama saying 57 states. I don’t think anyone ever doubted that Obama knows there are 50 states."

Stapleton adds that a McCain-Palin campaign speechwriter was flown in to write a speech for Governor Palin to deliver Tuesday night after the election results were in. But after a discussion, aides decided Palin would not give a speech that evening — only McCain would speak.

Stapleton says Palin didn’t understand why they would bring in a speechwriter and then not use the speech they wrote for her which was complimentary of McCain.

I rewally don’t like Sarah and her stupidity. However, that doesn’t make it right to say that she is twice as retarted as her son. He has Down Syndrome and I don’t think that is something to be made fun of. On another note the woman is a complete idiot and I was very afraid if she made it into the white house. SHe was very dividing in calling some Americans REAL Americans as if everyone else doesn’t love her country. SHe tried to simplify everyone into drunk dummies by calling them Joe 6-packs we are all different and it is something this woman did not realize, as if she didn’t have enough other stupid mistakes. I’m very glad Obama won and has inspired us to believe that America can again be the UNITED States of America and gain respect around the world again.

KC: If Gov. Palin misspoke about Africa, saying “country” instead of “continent” and you choose not to accept that explanation, then do you EVER accept that people make verbal mistakes? Using her precious son to insult her intelligence is just one indication that you have no heart.

K.C., I think that your comment is completely inappropriate. I am no Palin Supporter, but referring to her child with down syndrome as retarded is mean spirited and shows your ignorance.

Witless from Wasilla never admits making a mistake. She always counter-attacks and blames others. Classic Gingrich-GOPAC strategy. Interesting to note there was no rebuattal on her lack of knowledge as to the signators to NAFTA.

I love Sarah Palin, that woman will be back and there is nothing anyone on the left can do about it. Did you see the throngs of people at her stops. John McCain would not have come close the number of votes he got if he had not picked Gov. Palin.
She will be back and one of the left greatest fears will finally be realized.
The paranoid little nitwits know their
power will be short lived back the
majority of Americans have Sarah Palin’s
values, not those of the moraless left
wing of the Democrat Party.

Vice presidential candidates do not speak at an acceptance or concession speech. But the the airhead would not know that. Does not know what countries are in NAFTA? Does not know Africa is a continent not a country? Gets caught by two DJ’s! Spends more than the $150,000 on clothes then was originally reported. Did not have enough brains to take advantage of prep time before the Couric interview. Sarah has nothing to hide. She’s a very open person & easy to approach. Alaska may be a big state, but we’re a small community. Everyone knows everyone somehow because we all grew up together in some way. We’ve played against each other in sports or our parents know each other or our kids go to school together. Sarah ventured into a large arena & there were other powers in control, guiding and directing her on what to do & what to say. She only wanted to help promote, strengthen, and improve this great country as well as support the experienced hero and survivalist, John McCain. He is indeed a great man with all that he has learned and experienced. His knowledge and understanding could have been put to great use serving this country he loves so much. Sarah would not have intentionally done anything to harm him or this country. Megan Stapleton’s accounts sound exactly like what Sarah would have encountered in that larger arena — being thrust into unfamiliar territory, given illegal and inaccurate direction, then being blamed for it. That is pathetic on the part of those who were in charge of helping her “suit up for the game”. Regardless of their positions versus hers, they should have been strong enough and truthful enough to take the blame when it was theirs to begin with. The fact that they couldn’t shows me right there that is the TRUE REASON why McCain was not elected as president: The people serving on his campaign were a bunch of swindlers, blaming everyone and everything else. No backbones. No strength. No courage. No ability to command decision and stick to the consequences. No intelligence.
Don’t blame Sarah. She’s above all that. She is the definite OPPOSITE of all that.

Posted by: Steve | November 6, 2008, 5:26 pm 5:26 pm

Ya know. Let’s all give it a break on the ridicule. The real danger here was that Palin was pushed in, to the surprise of almost everyone. She was quickly dolled up to be more presidential and serious, had to learn a lot quickly. She could have easily charged up the crowds as a “surrogate,” and made things fun and more exciting for the Republicans at the rallies. I too was shocked at Palin’s choice and the incessant line they fed us that she was fine presidential material. What an insult to our intelligence! And McCain had to play along as well. He let others sway his soul. And if that happened in the campaign phase, think of what would happen if that pair had been elected. Who else would run over him? Oh, we did have that already, 8 years of a puppet presidency.

Posted by: Carol Wright | November 6, 2008, 5:27 pm 5:27 pm

Now you got your choice he has “57″ states to govern haha… but as a good person we we hope he will do right thing for America.

Shocking… I just think that so many of you (posting this site) are wicked horrible people. The use of the term “retard” is beyond my understanding. The Palin’s did allow you into their private family life. I saw pictures of that cute underful baby. How you could call that little innocent a “retard” just explodes my temper. What the Palin’s might find is that that child (cognitive challenged) will add richness and understanding to life that they had never known before. God’s blessings are not like “people blessing”. People blessing might be lots of money and power over others. God blessing increases your understanding of yourself and your place in the world. Remember what they say “it is easier for a camel to pass the eye of a needle then for a rich man to see heaven”. Maybe this blessing of this child is god’s attempt to wake up some people that have lost their way. Anyway… the ease and the way you say “retard” is just sick and so hateful. May god have mercy on you…

There is no doubt she will either be a senator, or run again for president in 2012. I am a democrat, but am ashamed of the way many democrats are conducting themselves. They are mean, rude, and insulting, and they are acting retarded, not Palin. I thought she did a wonderful job, and attracted many fans. If she runs, I will consider changing parties to vote for her, especially considering the embarrassing actions of my present party.

Hahaha, too funny how the details are coming out now.
McCain picked a scatter brained trollop with little to no global knowledge. We just finished 8 years of a President unable to admit error.

It makes me ill that these Republican “staffers” were the same ones publicly telling the media how qualified she was, how much executive experience she had, and kept her hidden from the media. I don’t like to nit pick a candidate. She is well liked in Alaska, and they think she is doing a good job.
Her major defect was not anything personal, but her lack of knowledge about
the basic structure and history of the United States. She has a layman’s understanding, and was very dogmatic.
These were major weaknesses not her clothing and relations with the McCain
staff.

Sad thing is she’s doesn’t know what she doesn’t know. That’s real bad.

Well, the election didn’t go the RIGHT way, so here’s my prediction: In
2012, the Republican ticket will be Fred Thompson and Sarah Palin.
Fred Thompson is positioning himself for a run for the presidency in
2012. He’s established http://www.FredPAC.com to support conservative
candidates for national office.
In 1976, Ronald Reagan lost the nomination to Gerald Ford who then lost
to Jimmy Carter. Ronald Reagan then spent the next four years
supporting conservative candidates for national office. In doing so, he
got their support for a run for the presidency. Get the picture?
Between 2008 and 2012, the country will experience the results of an
Obama presidency which will be worse than Carter’s. After four years,
the country will then swing from the left to the right again and elect
Fred Thompson as president. Remember, Ronald Reagan was 70 years old
when he took the oath of office. That’s what Fred Thompson will be on
January 20, 2013 (Fred’s birthday is August 19, 1942).

I agree with the one or two voices of reason. Sarah Palin is not brilliant. Very few of us are. But the problem was that after pounding on Obama for not having enough experience, John McCain picked a running mate who had practically none. Be honest. Mayor of Wasilla? 18 months as Gov of a low population state. Paliin will learn. Her career is not over. She is not the idiot some want her to be. But she was totally unprepared and should never have been picked. She should have been groomed. Yes, I believe she helped matters go downhill. I believe she refused to “study” for the CBS interview. (At least I sure hope so as she was horrible.) But this was largely a case of wrong place, wrong time.

First and foremost – any female who feels the need to bash another woman has a serious problem. That is completely unacceptable behavior. As for NAFTA – get real – she is the governor of Alaska – one of her biggest trade partners is Canada – Alaska also exports salmon to South America and Latin American countries such as Mexico. Don’t get me started on also having foreign policy in trade with China as well as Japan! And what foreign policy skills does Obama have from the lovely land-locked state of Illinois? Please don’t forget to actually do your homework in regards to someone’s resume and credentials – something that Obama voters apparently care nothing about. Palin helped run a fishing company w/ her husband in Alaska – yet another reason to know about NAFTA and the trade laws in place – she then became Mayor (and executive position) and then ran against her own party because of corruption (something running rampant in Congress with the demorcats like Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd et al.) and became Governor – she had over an 80% approval rating – which is incredible! The $150K wardrobe is the most ridiculous excuse I have ever heard from anyone. The RNC bought the clothes – not her – she is on the record also stating that the clothes will be auctioned off for charity – lemme just make this clear – Biden gave $3,600 in charity over the last 8 yrs. – her auctioned wardrobe will make 200x more! The pettiness of some people on the left and even on the right is ridiculous – the fear of strong attractive woman apparently scares people. She is allowed to have her own ideologies and opinions whether you agree or not – I vote on chacter and someone who speaks to me as an average american citizen. She as a geniune down-to-earth candidate – and it’s too bad that people need to bash her for no other reason than hate and fear. If you don’t agree or have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all – Nobody on here should be able to say anything – I would love for people on this post stand up and speak in front of massive crowds and then get raked over the coals by the media etc. And still stay strong and keep a smile on their face. ENOUGH!

This one is finished – unfortunately, so is our pocketbooks when the Capital Gains Taxes are raised and MORE and MORe people lose their jobs. I pray Obama is smarter than I think he is……..

If she really was upset about the clothes.. then why wear them?
She was not forced to wear anything, and she wore them with no broken arms…
Hell she even took them home with her. and now the RNC has sent a lawyer to corrupt Alaska to get them back.
She showed her true colors on the campaign trail and sorry to all your Palin lovers… but she is a joke.
She is no more a typical hockey mom than Ivana Trump.
Anyone that can build a 500k house, have land and other assests that total more than 2 million, is not your average middle class citizen… so quit trying to sell her as one…. its not working…we americans are not stupid.
She is back in Alaska where they love the corruption of their politicians, which is why she will soon appoint herself as senator once Stevens is gone…
Alaska is the only state that would re-elect known felons and they just proved it with Stevens, and Young and now with the up and coming corrupt Governor Palin.
They lover her, they can keep her… they deserve the misery that befalls them with their choices.

Has anybody found the names of those who are making these allegations or are they (as usual) hiding behind John McCain’s Skirt. I hate to call them cowards for shoving all this crap at the one person who made the McCain Campaign actually take off. The facts are without Palin, John would have lucky to gain 70 electoral votes. Cheap whiney men who hide behind skirts should never be listen to unless they reveal themselves. BUT THEIR COWARDS! PROVE ME WRONG!
SO kick the crap back to where it came from, an tell that half wit Carl Cameron to try and find a job with the New York Times, he’s beginning to sound like a liberal journalist. By the way most newspapers are truely the biggest losers in the presidential campaign for supporting Barack Obama 100 per cent. So Carl go and join the biggest losers, the Liberal Media, where you truly belong.

I hope if anything comes out of the mess the media has made of this country it will be they learn to presant the facts instead of opinion and name calling. One use to be able to trust the news. Now you even have Charlie Gibbson cracking jokes about Palin. Why? They won. She has been a women of dignity who has taken a-lot of guff based on lies. Alaska is the only state not in a ression. LOOK AT THE FACTS!!!!

References to McCain losing because of Palin are absolutely false.
Lots of Republicans were not even going to vote for McCain. McCain spends all of his time patting himself on the back for reaching across the aisle. If that is what conservatives wanted they would just vote for a democrat. Very little money was coming in for the McCain campaign until Sarah Palin was selected. Republicans knew that John McCain was not conservative but they accepted him because he at least could tell a conservative when he sees one. There was absolutely no life in the McCain campaign until he selected her – that is a fact.
I know why liberals do not like her, especially liberal women – she is the definition of feminism. She is a working mother, she believes in God, and she believes that it is murder to abort a baby. What really drives them crazy is to think that she did not abort her son even after finding out he had Downs Syndrome.
My own opinion is that the hate is jealousy. She does after all have it all.
The elections over, she is still Governor and mother – for you angry liberals you will still have your anger.

It’s ironic to see liberals bash McCain, when they gave Republican voters McCain to begin with. Liberals and independents crossed over in the GOP primaries to support McCain because he was the weakeast of the GOP candidates and he has always had a hostile relationship with conservatives. So McCain’s pick of Palin was a no-brainer.
The hangover is about to kick in for the Obama sheep – there are news reports of people in shock and disbelief, like “what the F did I just do?” moment the morning after the election. Obama is way in over his head and his lemming supporters are going to take an advanced course in socialism.

John McCain has never been the Standard Bearer for the Republican Party. Governor Palin nearly, single handedly, rescued an inept campaign. Her reward is to take a fall for his failure.
Keep in mind that this lady has accomplished more in 44 years than most of us will accomplish in our lifetimes.
How stupid is that?

I am not angry and wish Barack Obama good luck with the job when he becomes our next President. Long live the US of A. Sarah Palin will be just fine. I hear Hugh Hefner said he would love to have her in a playboy spread. Let’s be honest, John McCain chose a female running mate hoping to gain more votes. He could have at least selected a competent women. She thought women would look at her as a role model and just flock to her. I guess there were some weak hens that ate up her Alaska feed. Pffft, none of the women I know fell for it. Poor Sarah, you almost feel sorry for her…almOst.

Just because she was the first woman to be on a ticket doesn’t make her anybody. if her our party turn against her then why are some many people prays her for a good job. Why? What have she done for you to make your life any better? Can any answer did question for me……………………………….
P.S. Common Sense

IMG: Ignorance is bliss isn’t it? She was probably the least corrupt candiate running – and unfortunately you feel that politicians don’t lie or fib? Get real – I’m not sure where you got your source from as far as having to track down the clothes in Alaska – and the fact that you think you know the state of Alaska to make a generalized comment about it being corrupt? Let’s see the history of political corruption and the largest corruption machine in politics comes right out of the city your lovely savior hailed from – CHICAGO! you want to start with Obama?? I prob. could fill up pages with his corrupt past – Palin and her husband ran a business so you think they didn’t make some money? When you are an elected official you also make money – more so than others – doesn’t mean she didn’t work for the people – why was her approval rating to high?? Why did she give back the revenues from the oil company to the people (over 3K per person?) I’m really curious as to how you want to respond to that one! All Obama did was get a shady deal from Rezko – sign off on housing subsidies from other slum lords and now look at Chicago – oh and let’s not forget the multiple times that he raised taxes – Don’t throw stones unless your house is clean.

psThomas – Let me add that Palin attracted THOUSANDS of die-hard conservatives to her rallies – how many did hair plugs Biden attract? There was one “rally” Biden held in Wisconsin that was about a couple of dozen people with leftover tickets. And yes, Republicans have always hated McCain anyway, so that’s why you didn’t see any riots or demanding vote recounting that kool-aid drinking Democrats engage in.
I’m glad McCain lost. The GOP will become stronger, it will purge the feckless moderates and other beltway Rockefellers from the party and a strong conservative coalition will emerge.

The idea of people within the McCain campaign criticising Palin is ridiculous. They chose a VP candidate with no national political experience, and obviously they did not vet her thoroughly. So what do they expect? If she had problems, it’s the McCain campaign’s fault for choosing her.
I’m not a Palin fan, but she doesn’t deserve to be blamed for McCain’s defeat.

Alibi Ike…AlWAYS an excuse for Sour Sarah. In two months she has shown herself to be an egomaniac as well as an idiot.
If the Palin Lovers could be impartial, which they obviously cannot, they would see the dodging of the issues, blame game she is playing, and self-aggrandizing she has done in the couple of months she has had her ’15 minutes.’ One can only hope she goes back to Alaska–although I wouldn’t wish her on ANY State–and stays there. The Wasilla Hillbilies have NOT made a good impression on the rest of the 48 contiguous States. One can only hope she does not im-palin Stevens and take over his Senate seat. But one can put nothing past this self-aggrandizing egomaniac. Who knew such a provincial wannabe could go so far in the Republican party????

Posted by: Observer | November 6, 2008, 6:06 pm 6:06 pm

I’m a Democrat, but have a suggestion for the Republicans that could take a perceived negative and turn it into an actual positive.
Why not get Palin’s $150k in clothes back, auction them off on eBay, and donate 100% of the money to some deserving charities? Maybe, say, some veterans groups?
With such fervor among Palin backers, surely the clothes would raise more than they cost. It would be a PR windfall for the Republican party, and an actual windfall for these charities.
Of course, it takes a Democrat to suggest something that makes so much sense… :)

According to Stapleton, Palin DID say that Africa was a country, but it was a simple misstatement. Yet Palin told reporters, “That’s kind of a small, evidently bitter type of person who would anonymously charge something foolish like that, that I perhaps didn’t know an answer to a question. So until I know who is talking about it, I won’t have a comment on false allegations.”
Why doesn’t Palin just admit to a slip of the tongue instead of calling it a false allegation?

Palin is ignorant of most subjects. That being said:
-> The McCain team are the spineless ones who are now looking to scapegoat someone else.
-> Are they not the ones who introduced her to the American people and insisted she was qualified to be VP (and POTUS, if needed)?
-> Are they now openly admitting to doing NO vetting of her before picking her?
-> Are they now admitting to LYING to the American People about a pick for an important position like VP (or potentially POTUS)
-> Are they now by extension admitting that it was NOT “Country First” afterall?
Regardless, I waste no more breath on this. People, put your energyn instead into making your voice heard and helping shape the new direction at http://www.change.gov – a website already put up by the President and Vice-President elect for exactly that purpose. Let’s move on and forward and close this sad chapter.

I see that Obama’s team is still skewing comments so that the general public will have the false perception that everyone hates Palin and McCain. I find it refreshing that a real person and not an elitist was given the opportunity to participate in our government. I do not seriously believe that she was not intelligent. By saying she is means you think that the majority of voters in Alaska are either easly decieved or (your words) stupid.

Posted by: JAYrome | November 6, 2008, 6:17 pm 6:17 pm

I hope she runs in 2012 too! With a whopping 25% or so of respondents saying they think she’d be ready she’d the perfect opponent to help eek out the largest win ever for the dems :)
While I’m not one for angry hate and fear mongering, it is amusing how ignorant some people are. Like smuthrob who thinks fear is a democratic weapon, living under a rock must be nice, last I checked that is *the* GOP weapon.
In addition, smutrob also mentions the low IQ’s of the dems. However, what he forgot is the facts, Obama won the highly educated voted overwhelmingly in most of the states that I checked. More importantly, if you look at the locations where the majority of our most intelligent citizens live, you will notice a trend, almost all of them voted heavily for Obama. IE: NYC, DC, Northern VA, CA, etc… You don’t think there’s a reason for that do you?
I guess he, and others like him forgot to do their research and see that Obama had the support of people like Warren Buffet, The Gates family, The Jobs family, as well as many of the most recent Nobel laureates in economics. Not to mention literally a ridiculously long list of the best and brightest in various fields of study.
Full Disclosure… I’m a Republican. These divisive small minded attacks tear the country apart. Democrats are not all nut jobs, nor are Republicans all war mongering red necks.
I think all of us need to step back, take a deep breath, and most importantly read, learn and listen before we speak.

I’d like to know why conservatives around the world (they’re the same here in Australia) like to brand anyone who doesn’t share their own point of view as a “hater” talking “hate talk”. Do they really believe one side of poilitics has a monopoly on hate? As noted here by others, I heard audio of palin supporters calling out “terrorist”and “kill him”. What do you call the emotion that leads someone to say something like that? It’s the same one that leads idiots like KC to say what s/he said in the first post here. But conservatives like to pretend they’re somehow “above” hatred. What bullsh*t!! The crux of the Palin issue is that she hangs herself by her own clueless responses to legitimate questions. We all know the main mistakes she made, but you Republicans seem to genuinely believe that she DOES have the intellect to be your President.
The fact that around 47% of voters would have been happy to have this ditz (and sorry, but that’s the only fair description of her abilities based on what I saw and heard) a (fragile and old) heartbeat from the presidency is scary. Your judgement, if not based on racial lines, is frightening. As far as the comment from Hank Irelan: “Did anyone notice the redistribution of wealth? Yes but not the media….”, I’m wondering where, in fact, you heard that comment if it wasn’t in the media? I certainly heard it in the media – so much for left-wing bias!
When it’s all boiled down, I guess the point is that she came across as a dressed-up hillbilly in the city. That’s my observation based on the words I heard come out of her mouth. Does anyone here think that the media put those words there?

I am insulted by Palin’s referrals to Joe Sixpack.
I only drink 12 packs.
But I am happy that she refers to the ‘common american’ as a drunk.

During McCain’s excellent, gentlemanly, and statesmanlike concession speech, he consistently made it clear that he didn’t like it when people in the crowd were booing. He was rightfully pained and embarrassed by that boorish behavior.
But what did Sarah Palin do during _her_ rallies when people would yell things like “kill him!”? She just smiled encouragingly.
This is not the behavior we expect from a mature, good-hearted human being. It more befits someone who is ruthlessly and vindictively ambitious, and who will stop at nothing to further her own cause at the expense of anyone who gets in her way.
The vengeful way that she hounded her ex-brother-in-law is another example of this. Nothing she did concerning him was illegal. Rather, this just demonstrates how focused and single-minded she can be when she wants to get back at someone she doesn’t like.
During her short time on the McCain campaign, she was reasonably successful at avoiding questions that she was uncomfortable with. However, if she does decide to run for President in the future, she will no longer have this luxury. If Sarah Palin campaigns again on the national stage, she will have to be as accountable for every little detail of her past, both recent and distant, as she was asking Barack Obama to be this time around.
It will be interesting to see how she holds up to that much scrutiny.

tel avivim,
We want candidates we can relate to because then they are real candidates, real people – we have an idea how they will respond to situations without knowing everything about the person.
Obama created an image to get elected. Now no one really knows how he will lead this country. Intellectualism without down to earth action and experience to back it up is just that – an intellectual.

For a definition of Socialism see wikipedia. For an example of socialism in action study the Federal Reserve and the republican party for the last century. The socialism is the same, the benefactors of the system are reversed. When people throw around terms like socialism they should have an idea of what they speak. Sarah Palin in particular had little knowledge of Reality. Creationism is not science. God does not need help from politicians. Carrying a Downs Syndrome child to term is a noble example of compassion, but did her god ordain that or was it hubris. She is not presidential material. She will fade into the dusk of other loser vp candidates or else the republicans will stay mired in their anti-intellectual quagmire.

Just because I am a democrat does not mean I believe every single thing they believe. I am not angry. I am ecstatic that we finally can bring some change to the White House. It’s going to be a great 4 years. All those who do not agree, go build an underground bunker with your doom and gloom attitude and stay down there, while the rest of us embrace and move forward with our new President Elect Obama

eef – the media has been controlled by the right wing for years. Remember McCain’s relationship with the media when this campaign first started? McCain was treating the reporters to donuts and cookies. The media supported McCain to begin with. He and Palin destroyed their own images. The videos posted on the Internet caught them in lies and less than presidential behavior. It is always easy to blame the media. Hurts when the media is on the winning Democratic side this time – does it not? That is why you people attack the media. You supported the media for years. This is our time; many people like me worked their butts off to get Obama elected. He had the best grassroots plan in history. Blame the loss on people like you who sat on your butt, on your party that never had a solid message, on choosing a VP candidate that was no more ready to be on the national stage than Mother Goose….put the blame where it belongs…not in the media but on yourselves.

CONSERVATIVES WILL BE BACK IN FORCE!
Especially after the democrats steal our 401k.
Especially ater they pass the Freedom of Choice Act.
Especially after they pass the Fairness Doctrine (misleading title to mean they plan to start controlling radio)
Especially after they cut defense by 25% and the War on Terror begins to be fought on our soil.

Posted by: psThomas | November 6, 2008, 6:41 pm 6:41 pm

I’m amazed at how gullible democrats are. Not only did they believe Obama hook line and sinker, but now they actually believe Republican RINO’s who can’t take responsibility for their own stupidity. These are the advisors for John McCain. These RINO Republicans who are angry because they wanted to change the Republican Party and outright failed are at the same time unwilling to speak for themselves. They along with John McCain are the reason for their very own failure, because they wanted to move the Republican party away from Conservatives tried and true political platform. So now they blame the woman, how whiny these so-called advisors are now, and how easy it is to blame the women.
Now considering that Democrats are the most gullible people on the planet – IS proved by the FACT that they would even believe RINO Republicans – What does that tell you – they truly are gullible. It could be said that most people could not understand how the media could be telling them anything but the truth – however, one must remember that the American Media are privately held business organization who can one minute be fair and balance and the next minute behave like the French Revolutions “Fourth Estate.” It is historically proven that the reason for the horrible murders that took place during the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution, was a direct result of the outrageous misdeeds and false statements CREATED by the French Newspapers (The Fourth Estate) That being the case when the entire major news media (possible with the exception of FOX – although the interpretation of what “fair and balance” at Fox News is questionable) where could the average Democrat obtain an unbiased daily news from? I doubt if they would automatically begin to listen to Rush Limbaugh.
Notice how over the past few days how the stock market is crashing. Just watch over the next 12 months how Obama will change nothing and cause the American economy to return to Pre World War II level. If you grand parents are still alive they will be able to tell you how 25 per cent of the American people were in soup lines up until the War broke out with Germany and Japan. There is such a disconnect between Democrat hopefulness and Democrat reality. I’ve already seen similar disaster in my lifetime, in other counties such a Ethiopia, Russia, Zimbabwe, the Congo, even Japan. This socialist bastard, who just snookered and was hired by the democrat rationalist as well as Black and Hispanic hopefuls, will cause the entire world to go into a tailspin like we haven’t seen since the Great Depression. Interestingly with the dramatic increase in black voter registration – how moral as well as conservative almost 70 per cent of American Blacks are, for without their help Proposition 8 in California would probably not have passed. Proof that Obama’s “Race” was the principal reason for the historic vote that Black Americans pursued, and that many Blacks are truly conservative in their values despite their membership with the Democrat party.

Hey Folks — A news flash: The election is OVER McCain LOST! Palin LOST! Barack Obama will be your PRESIDENT come January 2009.
I wonder how many of Carl Rove’s proteges are posting here? Stir up the gullible Republicans by attacking their baby, then sit back and watch the show.
It’s time for the real Republicans to take back their party from the radical and religious right of Ronald Reagan, George Bush and Sarah Palin. The 25% fringe elements do not represent the ideals of most Republicans, who are fiscal conservatives looking to lead this nation without running up huge deficits.
Democrats have successfully pre-emted the mantle of fiscal responsibility the Republicans abandoned when Reagan came into office. The Reagan Republicans took our national debt from less than 1$ trillion to $4.5 trillion. Bush raised that to $11 trillion. In between those Republican spending sprees, the Democrats were able not only to run the government without increasing the National Debt but in fact reduced it!
If the Republican Party moved more to the political center, abandoning the radical right elements (radical: favoring drastic political, economic, or social reform) they would be embraced by Independents who left because the party strayed from their centrist beliefs. The mainstream Republicans need to dump Palin and her radicals, forcing them to become a third party who would have to come begging for a piece of the political pie.

More liberal hate and intolerance.
It’s a good thing there are some conservatives left or this would be a very angry country.
Long live “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”
___________________________________________________
Question: was it liberals or conservatives who called Obama a “terrorist”, a “muslim”, and a “racist”?
Another question: was it liberals or conservatives who yelled out threats to Obama’s life at McCain and Palin events?
Yet another question: was it liberals or conservatives who accused Obama of having his grandmother killed right before the election in order to garner some sympathy votes? (I saw this accusation made at least a couple dozen times in as many places)
These actions sound pretty darned hateful and intolerant to me.
Or perhaps do you only apply those labels to liberals and give a pass to anyone who is a conservative? I’d hate to think that you would do such a hypocritical thing.

it’s no surprise that blame is flying all around in the post-mortem of the failed campaign, because nobody wants to admit who was really at fault — and the answer might surprise you.
let’s get it straight: sarah palin was not chosen as the republican vp nominee because of her qualifications. sarah palin was not chosen because of her ability to work with john mccain.
sarah palin was chosen because the republican campaign’s consumer research came back with the “ideal attributes” of a mccain running mate, and then they looked for someone who could fit the bill.
mccain’s old? better find somebody young…
hillary clinton voters are in play after losing to obama? let’s find a woman…
mccain’s been around washington too long to fit the image of an “outsider”? bring in somebody who’s as far outside as you can get!
sarah palin was not john mccain’s choice. sarah palin was the choice of the republican campaign’s marketing machine. yes, they wanted to sell us a “perfectly balanced” campaign tandem the same way that mcdonald’s sells us new menu items and campbell’s sells us new soup recipes. and under a different set of circumstances, it very well might have worked.
but to assign blame to the marketing and research behind the mccain campaign would be akin to toto pulling the curtain and exposing the “wizard,” and the american public does not want to feel like it’s being “sold” a president.
and frankly, that’s the same reason why all the blame is becoming personal. the republicans’ research now shows that sarah palin’s performance during the campaign has left her as a liability to the party as it tries to regroup, so they’re doing all that they can to discredit her in order to prevent a 2012 “palin for president” campaign that could become a disaster of epic proportions.
in the meantime, i’m guessing that the republicans are looking to hire some different research firms right about now…

And as for “Palling around with terrorists”, The Reagan Administration (Republicans) gave Saddam millions of dollars (most of it on credit) back in the 1980′s. They should have tucked those millions of dollars away for a rainy day, like say…I dont know..A FINANCIAL CRISIS Maybe!

Palin is damaged goods. The American people rejected her because she’s a scary talking Barbie who spews hateful rhetoric. I seriously don’t understand why there’s admiration for her from conservatives. Are they really a bunch intolerant, willfully ignorant, anti-intellectual baboons? Palin is ill-informed and a joke. I notice that she provided no explanation for Palin not knowing that the three countries participating in NAFTA are the US, Mexico and Canada. Also it was reported that she thought South Africa was a region of Africa and not a country. When you consider her interviews together with the inside information we’re hearing about now, it is clear that she was woefully ignorant and unprepared for the office she was seeking.

Sarah Palin is a women who worked her way through school, is raising a family, and achieved a very admirable postion in government as Governor of Alaska. This should be celebrated just as an African American has finally reached the presidency. In Nebraska the first two black women have been elected to the Unicameral. Regardless of your politics, these accomplishments should be praised. Ethics, respect, responsiblilty and accountability are hard to find anymore. What are you teaching your children?

Janice Kriel: “Why can’t the media let it go and let her live her life in Wasilla with her family and not be made to suffer??
—————————
That’s a comment only a decent human being would make Janice — good for you!
But to understand all things Obama, start looking at things from David Axelrod’s perspective: Sarah Palin won’t go away, she’ll be back.
Welcome to the continuing Operation Trash Palin (OTP) from the OC (Obama campaign). Obama supporters lapped it up during the campaign, and the OC will continue to splot it out on their plates — like the old cigarette-smoking school cafteria woman in National Lampoon movies.
Post-election, any available ‘media’ will be egged on by the OC behind the scenes to trash Palin in any and every possible way, to build public-perception negatives. OC knows a pin to its balloon when it sees one. And the OC can’t stop broadcasting the Obama-good, Republican-bad signal, cause it’s the main advertising ploy that made Obama seem so good.
Once Sarah Palin gave her own convention speech in ’08, she became the four-years-earlier flip-side equivalent of Obama, who started his own roll with a convention speech. OC knows that’s how it started for them, so it can’t let that continue as in four years, Sarah Palin may build political steam and come back to haunt them, again.
McCain is gone as a presidential candidate for the future, obviously, so no need to divert OC resources to continue to malign him. But Sarah Palin? She attracted a lot of buzz and stole a lot of Obama thunder during the campaign. Expect more yet to come under Operation Trash Palin.
As for weenie comments from Obama supporters you see here and elsewhere, well, they evidence the type of thin-soil/shallow-root support that helped elect The Golden Calf. The same weenie pinheads will inevitably be the first to turn on Obama, like rats, when he inevitably fails to live up to the larger-than-life to-good-to-be-true perception Herr Axelrod created.
Notice now how it is being reported that Obama is downwardly revising expectations concerning what he will be able to accomplish? Already Obama is saying his presidency should be judged by what it accomplishes in the first 1,000 days — not the benchmark first 100 days. That’s an attempt to delay the fist wave of public backlash, from the inevitable pinheads.

The biggest problem this country faces is partisanship. We all are the same…we all face the same mess. We all need to join to get together so that we can recover as quickly as possible. Chill out everyone. The quicker we can solve the huge problems our country faces, the sooner we will have time to quarrel about ideologies.

There’s nothing wrong with Governor Palin that can’t be fixed by what is right about Governor Palin.
As SNL’s Lorne Michaels said, “I think Palin will continue to be underestimated for a while. I watched the way she connected with people, and she’s powerful. Her politics aren’t my politics. But you can see that she’s a very powerful, very disciplined, incredibly gracious woman. This was her first time out and she’s had a huge impact. People connect to her.”

And some of the bumbling idiots that watch your program on a regular basis are really showing their colors. Sarah Palin puts you all to shame. She has dignity that you can only dream about. It looks to me like Sarah Palin got caught up in the good ole boy network. Whoever was advising her must not have been very smart to begin with… Don’t blame the lady when a bunch of yahoos gave her wrong advice and tried to make her over. John McCain is my hero, but from all I have read and heard he was surrounded by a bunch of people who did not know what they were doing. He was runing a campaign handicapped by the lack of money the other side had. This alone did not give him or her a chance. Without being surrounded by people who are leaking info to the press and blaming others for their mistakes. neither one of them had a chance to win.

Posted by: Elsie | November 6, 2008, 7:26 pm 7:26 pm

Charlotte – Palin is “a tremendously honest person”??? Quite an Orwellian comment, given the following:
A verbatim quote from the Troopergate report: “For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39/52/110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch ETHICS Act.” (My emphasis)
Palin said, “I’m very, very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing … ANY HINT of ANY KIND of unethical activity there. Very pleased to be cleared of any of that.” (My emphasis)
So up is down, left is right, Obama is really white, Palin is really black, and the Republicans won!

We are hungover from divisive and negative campaigning. Will it take some earth-shattering disaster to make us forget the partisanship and remember that we are all Americans? If we all put as much time and effort towards solving problems that are blind to our ideologies and political affiliations as we put pointlessly arguing, we might just pull this country up by it’s boot straps. I call this arguing pointless and it is. Do any of you think that you will change the other’s opinion? One of the beautiful things about our country is that we can all have our opinions, our religions and our beliefs. No one can throw us in jail for our ideologies. That is one of the things that makes this country the best on earth. Take a lesson from marriage: agree to disagree. Enjoy the freedom afforded by the Constitution. In the end, know that we are all Americans and we are all in trouble right now.

Amazing..I knew that Dems were sore losers when the election don’t go their way but I didn’t realize it’s the same if they win.
Being gracious when you win is as important as when you lose.
McCain and Palin both showed graciousness in defeat. But you can see that some Dems wouldn’t know the meaning of gracious if it hit them in the face.
Palin has shown that she can handle the spotlight even when she was thrust on the national stage with minimal national experience and maximum scrutiny.
If Obama had gotten half the scrutiny and half the spotlight I doubt he would be President-elect now.
Palin is a rising star in Republican politics and she’s gotten there with her own moxie and grit working her way from city council, through mayor and to governor.
Without a fawning press Obama would never have gotten where he is today with his meager political experience and lack of substance.
And for all you catty women who criticised the money spent on campaign attire the ultimate revenge is that Sarah looks good in blue jeans and a hoodie.
She doesn’t need expensive clothes to look good because she is the kind of woman who naturally looks beautiful dressed up or down.

The GOP are planning on rebuilding the party with a focus on the moderates — something I think they need to do in order to best preserve the future of the GOP. They don’t want to retain a connection with Sarah Palin because she was aligned with the far right wing of the base – and they know the electorate wont forget that in a hurry. So they are out to crush their association with Palin. I don’t think it is very pleasant, but it is politics. GOP need to rebuild and there’s no room for Sarah.

I find it very hard to believe that Palin had no choice and no voice in the matter of her wardrobe or actions. Stapleton is doing the exact same thing the anonymous McCain aides are doing, putting the blame on the other side. She is blaming Palin’s campaign staff. Poor Palin could not say no, she had no choice. If Palin can’t even stand up for herself to her aides, how can she stand up to foreign leaders or it seems, her staff. If she is so smart and experienced and knowledgeable, I don’t believe she would have behaved the way Stapleton described the situations. Now if she is not smart, not experienced, and not knowledgeable, I can see how she could have been too intimidated by her aides. All of this is just too contradicting, will we ever know the truth?

Enough about Palin. The election is over, let her be the Gov. of Alaska. Alaska seems like the most bizare bunch of nuts in the nation. Alaska is no Ohio. We are trying to exist, and they are fighting over a corrupt senate seat by a crook who was given 7 counts, and says he is not guilty. Guess our US laws do not effect them. They may not like it but they are apart of the USA.

Timetest, it was the CRASH of ’29. Roosevelt really was president during most of the Depression, and he went on radio, though not TV, of course, quite a lot to address the people.
This person is a longtime aid of Palin, so I have my doubts about her opinion. If Palin had not shown herself to be so stupid, then the public would not have believed the continent smear, whether it was true or not.
She scares a lot of us, but not for the reasons you all think. Time will not be kind to her career.
I’m not sure it is appropriate to label a DS child as retarded. I was worried though when we all saw the Palins dragging Trig around everywhere, I never saw the baby move. I was concerned that the kid was doped up, or that more was wrong with him than DS.

Why the Republicans or McCain camp are trying to destroy Palin is an interesting question and there are probably quite a few motives.
On the other hand, I think it’s time to stop attacking her. Her weaknesses are self-evident and belaboring them is pointless. I think people need to cool down and attention needs to be directed at solving our country’s problems rather than rehashing a failed political campaign.

Patti:
I think you need to clean up the mess in your own state before you impugn what is going on in Alaska.
Using state computers to divulge private information about Joe the Plumber because he confronted “The One”, Acorn’s admitted fraudulent registrations flooding the state’s voter rolls with felons and ineligbles, and a federal judge who rules the homeless can register a park bench as a domicile.
Ohio’s ready for some corruption cleaning of it’s own.
Gov. Palin has taken on the good ol’ boys in Alaska before (and that includes Stevens). He’ll be out and Gov. Palin will be able to pick his successor.
All before Ohio has a chance or an inclination to clean up their own mess is my prediction.

Criticism of Sarah Palin by anonymous staffers is plain and simple, the result of her Pro-Life stand. The fact that she is a woman was inconsequential to people such as Gloria Steinem, the arch-feminist. How hypocritical to maliciously demean the first female on a national ticket because of her conservative values.
Originally a “feminist” mantra,
“Choice” has sadly become a misguided priority issue for women, ironically ahead of national security. What good is “Choice” if this country is obliterated from the face of the earth? Don’t they get it? Palin was one formidable candidate with executive experience in government far beyond that of the top of the Democrat ticket. She lives what she believes, as evidenced by the birth of her son with Downs Syndrome. She is a real person with real values and Alaska is beyond fortunate to have her. No rhetoric, nothing plastic here, she is the real thing. Just what Washington needs.
For the first time in my 65 year lifetime, an average middle class American was a candidate. The cost of her clothes is rubbish. Who from the “middle class” would have a suitable wardrobe to campaign 24/7? More ink and talk time has been spent on these damn clothes than on commentary and investigation on the source of the six hundred million in donations to Obama’s campaign, much of which has been generated from foreign souces, non-citizens and amounts over the threshold in violation of federal election law. Why not compare the cost of her clothes to that of the infamous ‘columns?’ Palin and her family were personally ridiculed by the media and Obama supporters from the get-go. Was she too intimidating to the other side? Was she too attractive? Talk about temper tantrums, I had them
every time I read the unfairly opinionated, biased articles on the front pages of the New York Times, Chicago Tribue. Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy, her glasses and hair, her accent, Caribou Barbie, troopergate, moose meat, etc. Just how petty to even put this “news” in print or on the air.
“Anonymous” opinions are generated by people who are jealous or feeling guilty for not doing their jobs, probably the later. Who raised these people? In the midst of an economic collapse, the transition in D.C., this after-the-fact, know-it-all commentary serves no purpose and is insulting to the campaign which paid these staffers for many months. There is no honor here and reflects disrespect for Sen McCain, as well.
By the way, I lobbied for “Choice” in my state capitol 20 years ago. Gratefully, I’ve never been a one issue
thinker and I won’t compromise now.

It amazes me all these Republicans that just can’t get used to the idea that Obama won by a landslide. Obviously, your ilk is a dying breed and judging by some of your comments, it is not a minute too soon. Now we can regain all that was lost by the disasterous last 8 years. The GOP is a has been and Sarah Palin reflected that so well!

I have one thing to say,You reep what you sow.You all elected a socialist because you wanted more money, well now you get to see why Ben Franklin said that would destroy this country.I had held hopes that people were not stupid enough to be taken in by the con artist but I was wrong. You all fell for it hook, line and sinker.I want all of you to remember how proud you have said you are.How right you said it was and how you said it would be good to have an african american president(btw news flash, his ancestry is Middle Eastern). But I want you to remember all these things.Because when he starts revoking rights I want you to see what your greed got this country. And when you finally see just what kind of tyrant you voted in I want you to remember how much you argued for him.How you told us we were wrong. And when the infanticide starts you remember you voted for the man who did it.You will be responsible for themen and women who die running out of Iraq, you will be responsible for the babies who are killed because they would be an inconvience, you will be responsible for every bad thing that happens to this country because of him.I will not post again until 2010.Hopefully by then you all have come to your senses. But probably not, once a blind lemming always a blind lemming.Don’t like me because I said this?Get in line.Anyone who says I’m rascist for not worshipping him can kiss my a–.I already have a God,I don’t need the medias.

Aquarius, we all know Joe the Plumber is connected to Charles Keating. Remember the Keating Five? He is such an obvious plant he will soon sprout leaves. The Wurzelbacher family are all related. Robert Wurzelbacher from Ohio, who did time for that S&L scandal, is Keating’s son-in-law. McCain was one of the Keating Five, the senators who got in trouble over ethics violations.

I hope Obama enjoys governing/protecting ALL 57 states
READ ALL THE WAY TO BOTTOM:
“Regarding another stinging criticism, Stapleton claims that the Fox News report Thursday — that quoted unnamed sources inside the now defunct McCain campaign, saying Palin didn’t know Africa is a continent — was taken out of context.
Stapleton says that during a briefing session, someone asked Palin to explain the McCain-Palin stance on an issue, and as she was responding, “in the middle, she said, ‘country of Africa’ and somebody instantly wrote it down, and said, ‘Oh, my God, she thinks it’s a country.’”
But Stapleton insists, “She knows it’s a continent. It was just a human mistake, just like Obama saying 57 states. I don’t think anyone ever doubted that Obama knows there are 50 states.”
I think she was INTERRUPTED- MID SENTENCE when she answered that…
(is OBAMA including Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the virgin Islands as US States? if so —-I think hs is still a few territories short)
I heard him state this on either the 1st or 2nd debate….

i believe that many like myself of the 48% that supported mccain/palin were ready to move on and support obama-and give him a chance. however after this continued assault on sarah palin this debate has reopened old wounds. let it go people. the rumor mill(MSN) is spinning with anonymous sources spreading unsubstantiated GOSSIP. this is gross and disgusting-leave this woman alone.
REMEMBER IT IS THE MEDIA WHO IS FEEDING THIS TO THE MAGGOTS.

Posted by: northernlights | November 6, 2008, 8:45 pm 8:45 pm

wow, so many still backing the ice queen?
Africa is not the only lacking she has… uh, in her (now) infamous call with the “President” of France, she also called Belgium a country that need to be watched… huh? All they do is make very good chocolates and they’re neutral for heaven’s sake. She didn’t recognize the wrong name was used for the Prime Minister of Canada… you know, that country she flies over all the time… the one that shares a border and that she’s been trying to put a pipe line through… I’m sorry, but if she doesn’t know the name of the Prime Minister of Canada, I totally believe that she thought Africa was a country.
– on the clothes, you all do realize that was a total slap in the face to McCain and all he stands for, RIGHT? McCain is the one who got screwed the worst by Palin, she completely spit in his face on several key issues that he has a long history on. No one would have given a fying fig about her clothes if she’d have paid for them herself. They’re a big deal because it was donor money used to buy them and it was a pretty fine line they drew to keep it from being flat out illegal. AND now the RNC has to fly to AK to inventory and get them back? HUH? Why weren’t they left with the campaign to start with. Now they’re spending even more money to try to find and retrieve them. That’s classy!
– And, although I’m a pro-life person, I don’t think being pro-life gives you a pass on every other aspect of being a Christian. How many times does she get to lie and not get called on it? Why didn’t she call for Thompson to step down immediately? … oh, that’s right, it’s okay he lied about $250k because if he wins, she’s going to try to slide her two-faced tuckus into a senate seat, so she NEEDS him to win so she can get out of AK now that they’re oil based economy is in the tank like the rest of the US.
– How come she wasn’t called when she said that bombing abortion clinics is okay and “not what I’d call terrorists”… huh? People have been killed and permanently maimed by those bombs… the law against it specifically cites it as “domestic terrorism”… but to her, it’s okay? And she’s jumping on Ayers from nearly 40 years ago!
Guess what folks, people didn’t rip on her because she was a female, they ripped on her because she was the combination of world-class stupid on national issues and a bald faced liar.
I say we all support their AIS party (you know the one Todd belonged to until 2002 and the she complemented as “doing a great job” in May 2008) and get AK to vote themselves right out of the US. Then see how much infrastructure money they get from Russia and how much they like it when their oil reserves are nationalized. As far as I’m concerned, AK should not get a single cent of that “pork money” that Palin suddenly took a dislike to. Then see where they are in a year or two now that oil prices are down.
She screwed McCain in every way possible. I hope she has to pay for that for a VERY LONG TIME. He did not deserve her crap.

Written above:
“Sarah would not have intentionally done anything to harm him or this country. Megan Stapleton’s accounts sound exactly like what Sarah would have encountered in that larger arena — being thrust into unfamiliar territory, given illegal and inaccurate direction, then being blamed for it. ”
YUP that’s classic Palin, blame someone else. You don’t see McCain doing that, even though she torepedoed him… She’s too self centered to be a team player and I’m just waiting for the book to come out… You’ve got one thing right… she a manipulative and ambition b**** who’s left a string of prior supporters on the curb in her ambition.
I say AK should vote itself out of the US and then we’ll be done with her and that kind.

Barack Hussein Obama- 44th President.
America is going to reach her destiny.
It says all good things about our country, and the progress that we have made and the barriers that have come down. I couldn’t be more proud of where we are today, you know, this minority status now being kind of propelled to the forefront, that’s healthy.

I’m so glad Sarah’s back-Back in the USA-United State of Alaska!
Fox News used to love her, and now they don’t. What did it take for Fox to fall out of love? Just cause they say the source is anonymous doesn’t mean they don’t know who said it, they just are not telling.
By not telling, they will get more people to tell more good stuff. Sure sounds like she did not endear herself to her staff or inspire their loyalty.

Shock:
Joe was in HIS own neighborhood when Obama came breezing through on a photo op and accidentally spilled the beans on his socialist ideas.
You stick with your conspiracy theory if you want. And for your info, McCain was cleared in the Senate of the charges and was the ONLY one of the five, (four Dems including John Glenn who campaigned with Obama so I guess that’s a losing agrument), who went to court and helped the prosecution by testifying for the victims of Keating.
Kay:
You don’t know what you are talking about. It’s Stevens, not Thompson.
Show me one article or link where Palin advocated abortion bombings. Pro-life protesorss have been more peaceful than the so-called anti-war demonstrators (there’s something quite ironic about saying you are a peace activists while you are getting in the faces of police and the opposition).
And I’m one of the donors that paid for those clothes for Palin and it’s the best bang for my buck I got. Did you see the fashion disaster Michelle had at the victory party. And those poor little girls in shades of black and red!
I hope the DNC didn’t pay for that! Although you Dems got ripped off on the phony Greek columns at the nominating show which was a cool 70K dropped on styrofoam that was discarded.
What Republicans spent on Palin’s wardrobe is chump change compared to the money spent by Obama & Co. for take-oout and other miscellaneous campaign expenses.
700,000,000, not counting Soros, union and 527′s. The most expensive and extravagent campaign in the history of presidental politics.

You guys really do not do yourselves or the international image of your ‘Great’ country any good with these sorts of commentary! Half the time they do not even relate to the article at all! They show the intense division and hatred entrenched in your hearts and hence in your society. Many of you have no love for your neighbour, which means that you do not love yourselves and as such can not really love your country! I think it is a shame that you chose to air your proverbial dirty laundry in public, and yes in case you didn’t realise it doesn’t get more public than the internet!
KC it all started with you this time and your ill thought out comment about Trig.
Ultimately, Palin whatever her faults was McCain’s firm choice vetted or not, as such any and all criticisms of her reflect very badly on McCain and his senior aides should really know better.
Your country is currently making the world smile again and think better of you for having the heart to vote for the better candidate in our opinion.
So in summary, GROW UP, LEARN HOW TO CONDUCT YOURSELVES IN PUBLIC and in the words of your new president learn to disagree without being Disagreeable!

Isn’t that a sad commentary about McCain and his stance on the issues.. he had to resort to picking Palin in order to gain votes. If he had run on a more realistic platform and picked a running mate that would have been the best choice for America, he might have had a chance. Instead, he pandered to his ‘base’ and tried every dirty trick in the book to try and persuade people to vote for him. That is not Country first, that is win at all costs first.

Aquariusstar: Good job calling Shockolit on the Keating Five.
Usually when someone points a finger, three point back. This time, four pointed back.
DeConcini, D. Arizona, one of the Keating Five, was later appointed by President Bill Clinton in February 1995 to the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation.
Standard operating procedure for Obama supporters seems to be to introduce yet another weak, wrong, and just plain stupid assertion to substantiate the one that immediately preceded it. No problem, Herr Axelrod keeps serving them up as fast as they can swallow it.
Both pre- and now post-election Obama supporters are like wind-up toys that keep bumping into the wall, then doing it again, and again, and again. Shockolit is another example of the type of Obama supporter that will be among the first to turn on him.

Does Obama think the French equivalent of Joe the Plumber is Marcel, the guy with bread under his armpit?
Sarah Palin did.

You all don’t know me and you have no idea where I got my information. Any good genealogist could find the same thing.
I really don’t care about the Keating Five except that McCain has always been tight with Keating, and knows his family, including the Wurzelbachers.
The Wurzelbachers have not been in this country long enough to not all be related. My guess is first cousins once removed for these two.
Very strange coincidence. If I needed a plant, I would use someone already closely affiliated with my political allies. I certainly would not harp on this guy over and over on national TV if I did not know who he was.
There is also a Wurzelbacher up in Palin’s neck of the woods.
We loyal Democrats do not turn on each other. The Republicans not only turn on each other, but they eat their young. That is why Palin is having such a hard time now. They are all turning on her.

If Obama had lost you better believe that Axelrod and the others would be leaking BS (actually, they probably wouldn’t have to make anything up) because they want to work other campaigns and get PAID.

The vitriol expressed on these posts by obamabots is not surprising; they are already worried sick that she will keep their communistic leader from winning re-election in four years, so they want to destroy her now.
What they don’t yet realize is that obama’s popularity ranking will soon be lower than Bush’s- watch and see.

“Those guys are fear mongers in contrast to the Obama “movement” which is HOPE based.” – Robin
Robin, I learned one thing in the Army that I carry with me to this day. “Hope is not a method!” “Hope” doesn’t mean your soldiers are all trained. “Hope” doesn’t make sure they all have the right equipment. “Hope” doesn’t help your convoy leave on time. YOU do. Specific actions do.
We have completely different views of what makes this country great. Mine happen to be in line with Thomas Jefferson’s view of this country/ government/ liberty/ people so eloquently written in the Declaration of Independence and his many letters/manuscripts. You have a right to believe that the government is the answer to all our problems. I have a right to believe I am the answer to MY problems and I don’t want the government in my way or reaching in my wallet. That is why the founding fathers wrote that little thing called the 1st Amendment (so important in their minds it came first, right before second I might add, in the Bill of Rights). But today, only liberals shout down conservative speakers on college campuses. Only liberals throw bricks through windows at their oppositions political conventions. Only liberals flood radio stations with threats and “outrage” when conservative speakers critical of their candidate are scheduled. Only liberals send their lawyers and threaten prosecution if someone speaks ill of their candidate. (With the exception of the idiotic triad of Hannity/Rush/OReily) most conservative speakers, especially Dennis Prager and Glenn Beck, want an open ideological debate on the issues. Only liberals seem to want to silence viewpoints they disagree with. I say this as a Former Democrat, now independent conservative, who’s party showed me how they deal with dissenting opinions “D.Kos” style…

First of all we had an election. The American people have spoken, the results are clear. Our new leader is President-Elect Barack Obama. I supported him, I am very pleased. He won because he never lost sight of the issues he will have to deal with, mainly our economy. Govoner Palin has to answer to the RNC and the people of Alaska. We all need to leave her be and continue to support our new President. When I turn on the news I want to hear what he is doing to get a cabinet together and what direction he is taken our country in. That is more important than Sarah Palin. ENOUGH ALREADY. The election is over and we no longer have to convince people about her abilities or lack of.

She did speak well most of the time and when you look as wonderful as her, it does not matter if you make a few mistakes when you speak, she is still beautiful. If any one thinks she and her husband will donate the wonderful new clothes think again, I know I would not. She looks good in them and she earn them from all the work she did, she should keep them all and wear them proud.

Sarah Palin speaks well when she’s comfortable with the subject matter and when she’s reading from a teleprompter. Hit her with material that she’s unprepared for and she spews gibberish.

If Palin wants a chance at winning in 2012, she’s going to have to cut back on the negativity that permeated her message in this campaign. When she was first selected, she was like a breath of fresh air to the conservative base. But for the last month of the campaign, her message degenerated from one of hope to one of fear and hate mongering. Going negative may get you a short-term boost in the polls, but the increasingly negative tone of the McCain-Palin campaign in its closing days turned off a lot of people. If Palin can remake her image as someone willing to reach out and listen to all Americans, and not just her conservative base, then she may have a chance.

Posted by: Eric | November 7, 2008, 3:49 am 3:49 am

To all the “Palin is so stupid” people — in case you read this article or paid any attention to Obama’s campaign you would know that he apparently believes there are “57 states” in this country. That was just one of many idiotic statements made by him and his running mate.
I am convinced that no one is as stupid as these Obama posters, unless they are high school or college kids or grown-ups living in their parents’ basement who believe everything they see on tv. But I think some of them must be on David Axelrod’s payroll.

Posted by: Rich | November 7, 2008, 3:51 am 3:51 am

And one other thing — you take someone like Palin who is unknown to the American people and put her in the spotlight in a campaign the media is already trying to defeat. From day one they did everything they could to destroy her. It amazes me that so many people actually drank the kool-aid and bought into it. Someone who was a known quantity might have stood up to the attacks a little better but anyone McCain picked would have been subjected to the same attacks and probably would not have come out of it any better than Palin did. Does the media really have that much control over what we think? Apparently so.

“When I hear a statement like that coming from a women candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or a sharper microscope put on her, I think, man, that doesn’t do us any good. Women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country, I don’t think it bodes well for her, a statement like that. Because, again, fair or not fair it is there. I think it’s reality and it’s a given, people just accept that she’s going to be under a sharper microscope. So be it. Work harder, prove to yourself to an even greater degree that you’re capable, that you’re going to be the best candidate.” — Sarah Palin, March 2008
If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations then I don’t know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.” — Sarah Palin, Oct 2008

Her tarmack speech as she deplaned on Alaskan soil reminded me of the speech Richard Nixon gave after his defeat for the gubernatorial slot in California. I guess the media won’t have Sarah to kick around anymore.

I personally didn’t like the way Palin campaigned. I found her generic, psuedo-folksy platitudes insulting. She was not prepared for national politics. And there was a high degree of hypocrisy, fear mongering, and distortion in her speeches.
HOWEVER, it’s over. The voters decided. Let her run Alaska and stop dwelling on petty BS personal attacks.

While Palin is not the most intelligent of vp choices but she was dead before she ever hit the ground. The media did the same thing to the mccain/palin as they did to Hillary. I voted for Hillary in the primaries in Wisconsin, then reluctantly for Obama in the general. As an African American female it became clear to me what the media did. Hillary became cast as an evil Monster(thats what one of Obama’s staff called her)an old white lady trying to keep the black man down. Mccain/palin became the evil people trying to stop history. I wonder when people will really look into their hearts and see what role the media played. In any Obama is gonna be president I hope he keeps his promises, now that this color line has been shattered when will us women truly over come given history it might take another 50 years.

Thoughts for Sen. Obama to consider:
“You cannot help the poor, by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak, by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity, by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up, by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man, by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage, by taking away men’s initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently, by doing for them what they could and should, do for themselves.”

Blah, Blah, Blah, is that all you are worried about is Palin’s clothes? Lets compare apples to apples, Palin’s clothes cost $150,000.00. I would like to hear someone tell me how much the democratic party spent on Obama’a “colums” from the convention. They say the clothes will be auctioned, money will go to charity. What did they do with the colums??? What happened to the replica of the colisium or whatever you would call it? Tell me that at least $150,000.00 wasn’t spent on all of that? WHERE WAS THE MEDIA COVERAGE ON OBAMA’S EXPENSES? WHERE ARE ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT THE MONEY THAT WAS WASTED ON THINGS LIKE THAT FOR THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN? HOW MUCH MONEY WAS SPENT ON THE DRESS HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN WORE THE NIGHT HE GAVE HIS ACCEPTANCE SPEACH? Maybe instead of nit-picking on Palin, you should all look at what is coming to Washington…..advisors that were in investment banking??? Yep, thats who I am excited to see being key advisors. Your president elect has now come out and already said that he cannot do it in one term??? Yep, I see change coming……I am a small business owner and the change I see is I will be looking for a new job….I cannot afford higher taxes, and as much as I would like, I cannot afford to provide all of my employees with healthcare. I will have to probably go out of business and add to his unemployment ratings….but, since we are spreading the wealth around, maybe I will now be able to qualify for welfare……..

Yesterday, McCain’s top foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann claimed that Sarah Palin has a photographic memory.
So, why couldn’t she name a single newspaper or magazine during the Katie Couric interview?

Is Stapleton saying that it was the RNC that actually did the wardrobe shopping? And they purchased silk boxer shorts for Todd? Were they expecting him to drop his pants on stage at the rallies?

Sarah Palin and John McCain are not in the same league. This is not a value judgement but a poor decision for the McCain Campaign. They want to blame Sarah and should blame themselves. It also backfired on them. She was a shot of Adrenelin but they wear off quickly.
She was used without doubt and left standing to defend herself. She failed because of her lack of experience in the political arena. We cannot doubt that she is inexperienced and the American People knew this. She was my biggest fear of a John McCain presidency. He could have done a decent job. Maybe someday she will gain the experience.

You are stating that Palin couldn’t even name a single newpaper or magazine, and that without a teleprompter she just spouted gibberish? Welllllll…..what about Biden’s interview with the news channel in Florida? When he was finally asked questions that some of us would have liked answered didn’t he ask the interviewer “Are these real questions” and then went on to spout gibberish himself?

I love Sarah Palin, that woman will be back and there is sadly nothing anyone can do about it.
She’s even capable of running NASA and the space program, because she can see space from Alaska.
She’s a comedy writer’s dream cone true.

Posted by: Chudleigh | November 7, 2008, 5:36 am 5:36 am

What this proves?
Sarah Palin isn’t a glam girl who overspends on her warddrobe.
She is a regular Hockey Mom like the millions of other Hockey Mom’s out there.
She is NOT FIT to be VP because a couple of campaign nitwits pulled a fast one on her. Imagine what else people could pull over her eyes if she was elected.
One the one hand saying no to earmarks in public, while privately accepting the largest proportion of earmarks in the country.
On the one hand being for joe-six-pack, but supporting McCain’s tax policy which hurts Joe.
On the one hand saying “I have no idea what a VP does” and on the other saying “I’m ready to be VP” and still not knowing anything about what the VP does.

Posted by: anon | November 7, 2008, 5:41 am 5:41 am

One other thing before I have to go, Yes, Palin bombed some interviews, but, when were these kind of questions put to Obama….just because you are a woman does not mean you buy or subscribe to magazines and national newspapers….some of us moms are busy being involved with our jobs, and our families…if Palin would have campaigned in her own normal wardrobe then everyone would have been screaming about how poorly she was dressed. No, I may not agree with everything the McCain campaign did, but, I did not agree with the media on Obama either. When Obama was doing an interview there was hugs and kisses going on….when McCain or Palin gave interviews the hostility that came off of the interviewers was unreal….that was an opinion of someone who had not made the decision as to who to vote for yet…my vote was based on going through numbers with my accountant with the Obama plan. You all will reap what you sow…and I do not want to hear one Obama supporter crying….Bush has his faults, but, he does not do it on his own. The majority of the house and senate was democratic wasn’t it??? Do you honestly think the president decides I want to reform social security and writes a bill/law whatever and passes it? Hellllooooo…..nobody is home.

You shouldn’t fib, Palin 2012.
The Florida interviewer asked Biden if Obama was a Marxist because he wanted to spread the wealth around. That’s why Biden asked if it was a real question. And he didn’t spout gibberish. He was right on target, speaking in real English.
BIDEN: He is not spreading the wealth around. He’s talking about giving the middle class an opportunity to get back the tax breaks they used to have.
INTERVIEWER: What do you say to the people who are concerned that Barack Obama will want to turn America into a Socialist country much like Sweden?
BIDEN: I don’t know anybody who thinks that, except the far right-wing of the Republican Party.

Posted by: WWW | November 7, 2008, 5:45 am 5:45 am

And one more thing, palin 2012,
If Sarah Palin, like you say, was too busy being a mom and tending to her family to read a newspaper or magazine, she had no business running for VP.

Posted by: WWW | November 7, 2008, 5:56 am 5:56 am

And these were the people who were supposed to reform Washington and cut wasteful government spending?

Posted by: fivecard | November 7, 2008, 6:08 am 6:08 am

I found a more complete transcript of Joe Biden’s answer to the Florida interviewer’s ‘Marxist’ question.
BIDEN: He is not spreading the wealth around. He’s talking about giving the middle class an opportunity to get back the tax breaks they used to have. What has happened just this year? People making $1.4 million average, the top 1 percent. Good, decent American people are going to get a new $87 billion tax cut, a new one, on top of last year. We think the people should be getting that tax break and not continue to redistribute the wealth up. We think middle class taxpayers should get a tax break. That’s what we think. It’s a ridiculous comparison, with all due respect.

Perhaps this result signals a end to the nasty bitter and divisive campaign tactics of those who seek to seperate us as Americans just to get elected. The “Real America” includes all of us (Sorry Sarah Palin) and those who foster hate (Sorry Sarah Palin) against our fellow Americans by questioning their patriotism are not particularly patriotic themselves. Tho shall not judge, its your Bible (Sorry Sarah Palin) I find it amazing that those who subscribe to it dont follow most of it. – A resident of Northern Virginia, a Native Virginian, who found the McCain/Palin campaign utterly vile.

The Palin fans are remarkable. She is a woman without substance. She is what she says she isn’t. Yet through your blind adoration you fail to see it. WOW.
The media didn’t destroy Palin, Palin destroyed Palin. The media didn’t bait her, she threw out nonsense. SHE WAS and STILL is not ready for the national scene.
The proof that the McCain camp was unhappy with her was clearly visible on stage during McCain’s concession speech. The barely touched her when they hugged and didn’t even look at Todd. When they walked off stage, few if anyone looked comfortable touching the Palins.
Read the Newsweek article about the campaigns. You’ll see how Palin was anything but an empty suit. An American Idol runner up has more credentials based on selection. Obama’s team ran background checks, etc., to vet their VP choice. McCain used Wikipedia.
Take a hard look back and try not to be as biased as you are now about her selection. You don’t go through 4 colleges to get an undergraduate degree in journalism and think you’re qualified for a high office. You don’t spend your days on the campaign trail throwing out hate filled rhetoric about your opponent and then try to claim you’re non-partisan. You don’t advocate reform when you appoint friends and donors to key jobs in the state with little if any qualifications. You don’t bend the bidding rules on a contract then claim you’re different. You don’t distribute a couple thousand dollars of oil company taxes to everyone in Alaska then claim you hate socialism.
I’m afraid this election is also the end for Palin. She was a fad. The Britney Spears of politics. The one hit wonder of the GOP. She could not survive the nomination campaign, let alone a presidential campaign.
Enjoy your fond memories of Palin. After awhile, they will fade away and you’ll move on to the next fad. Enjoy it.

Just remember when you get emotional about your politics, all you are to the those who seek power are tools.
The thing about Sarah Palin is that she was very appealing as a straight up outsider to Washington. No real basis to say she is not intelligent. YOu don’t successfully take on special interest oil companies, beat incumbents, and successfully take out corruption if you are plain stupid. She was not as experienced in the policital arena and thus people’s fears were justified. However, she did not spend her whole life and career practicing and grooming herself for power like the president elect. Be careful voters. Keep your power intact.

Posted by: Marcy | November 7, 2008, 8:32 am 8:32 am

Stop calling Sarah Palin stupid. It’s childish and unrealistic.
Just look at how well she managed Alaska, lowered income taxes and property taxes, required any large purchases to be a ballot initiative.
She took on members of her own party because of corruption and outed them. You call that stupid. I call that leadership and integrity. When did Obama ever criticize pelosi or franks or the clintons for their obvious corruption.
Biden can make up lies about the french driving the palestinians out of lebanon in front of 78 million people in the debate and the press gives him a free pass. That is called ridiculous.
Admit it, the reason some people hate Palin so much is because she is a beautiful, smart REPUBLICAN conservative woman who has integrity. That is not the image liberals want as a role model for women. They want a corrupt, shark, boyish woman like Hillary Clinton.
If Sarah started to dress like a boy, live her life like a hypocrite, lie on a regular basis, get a free pass from the press, encourage socialism and government controlled media, say there are “57″ states, be sympathetic to terrorists, you might just like her.
Or maybe if she promised to take money from hard working individuals and give it to others who refuse to work and think society owes them something, you might just like her.

It was clear to me from the beginning (and anyone else that is honest) that Palin was just over her head. And thats not her fault. No one can doubt that the Katie Couric interviews were embarrassing…..her rambling about the bailout package sounded very much like Ms. South Carolina explaining geography education…….and who can’t name a newspaper that they read off the top of their head?????
She very well may be a great Gov. and a nice person, but it scares me,that this somehow was considered a wise VP pick by the by the McCain camp.
All the name calling and hate can stop anytime now……Republicans are never going to get their act together if we can’t learn to focus on fiscal conservatism, rather than promoting fear, hate, intolerance and racism.

In my opinion, Sarah Palin is a remarkable woman in her own right, but the grace she displayed in the face of the personal attacks on her and her family demonstrates exceptional strength of character. Her genuineness, integrity, graciousness, and intelligence make her a wonderful role model for American women. As for her son Trig, he is blessed with a family that will give him the best of love and care. There have been many advances in minimizing the effects of the extra genetic material in Down syndrome. IQ’s as high as 145 have been measured in individuals with Down syndrome as a result. Also remember that the IQ test is an imperfect instrument that does not necessarily measure true learning potential. Visual and hearing impairments, which are common with Down syndrome, can cause the IQ score to be underestimated. But the value of life is inherent and does not depend on IQ or physical traits. Sarah Palin chose life for Trig, and that says a lot about her values.

Matthew 7:1-5
1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Everybody is a critic, but nobody wants to be judged or condemned. Then why is judgementalism so rampant, even among Christians? “Thinking the best of other people” is necessary if we wish to grow in love. And kindliness in judgment is nothing less that a sacred duty. The Rabbis warned people: “He who judges his neighbor favorably will be judged favorably by God.” How easy it is to misjudge and how difficult it is to be impartial in judgment. Our judgment of others is usually “off the mark” because we can’t see inside the person, or we don’t have access to all the facts, or we are swayed by instinct and unreasoning reactions to people. It is easier to find fault in others than in oneself.
Jesus states a heavenly principle we can stake our lives on: what you give to others (and how you treat others) will return to you. The Lord knows our faults and he sees all, even the imperfections and sins of the heart which we cannot recognize in ourselves. Like a gentle father and a skillful doctor he patiently draws us to his seat of mercy and removes the cancer of sin which inhabits our hearts. Do you trust in God’s mercy and grace? Ask the Lord to flood your heart with his loving-kindness and mercy that you may only have room for charity and forbearance towards your neighbor.
“O Father, give us the humility which realizes its ignorance, admits its mistakes, recognizes its need, welcomes advice, accepts rebuke. Help us always to praise rather than to criticize, to sympathize rather than to discourage, to build rather than to destroy, and to think of people at their best rather than at their worst. This we ask for thy name’s sake. (Prayer of William Barclay, 20th century)

Look, Palin knew the clothes were expensive. If they were being bought for her she could have refused to wear them. But she cannot say she didn’t realize how expensive they were. I suspect that she enjoyed all the new clothes for her and her family and actively participated in the buying thinking it was no big deal. Until it turned out to be a big deal. Hey Indy_voter – Guess you’ve run a campaign or two, huh? Palin was showed an outfit that was over $3,000 and refused to wear it. The RNC bought the clothes, not Sarah. She flew from Alaska and had one week to pick out clothes. I can assure you that finding out each price of clothing was NOT the most important thing Palin had going on during the convention! She and her family did need clothes since she would be campaigning in warmer climates. I could hazard a guess that she had mostly wool and no cotton. If she had worn her clothes, you lefties would have sneered at her clothing and would have cried for her “hillbillyness” and to find a stylist to help her out! Considering the sources of the critics of Palin are un-named, I suspect the comments are an invention of some liberal reporter who, like Chris Matthews, believes he/she has a responsibility to make Obamas´ presidency work, and that is done of course, by inventing negative press for the opposition. They want to make sure Sarah Palin is out of the way for 2012, and what better way to do it than insinuate that her own party is critical of her.

Meg Whitman retained during the campaign Steve Schmidt for her political advisory team. I believe that these unnamed sources are probably coming from Meg Whitmans bitterness of not getting enough of a shot in the limelight, possible jealousy she was turned over for being VP. Think about it, Meg Whitman, McCains 1 of 3 people whose advice he could not do without. Someone who exemplies leadership of business (bawk: 1.3 million American sellers making a living from selling on ebay). who has int’l experience, etc. You think she would just stand by and do nothing? Obviously you people in politics have never been on the short end of the ebay stick to see that this is a similar type of tactic that ebays top heavy former Bain & Company management teams are well know to do. Rewriting their own history, making others do their dirty work for them. All this stuff. These unnamed sources? PLEASE. You expect any of us to believe that a NEIMAN MARCUS doesn’t have video surveillance cameras? You must not be women or shoppers to think that if she’s doing what they are saying she is… where’s the VIDEO. Greedbay, Meg Whitman… yeah they’re the ones doing it I bet. And why? Because Meg is sucking up to California and suddenly has her photo taken looking so authoritative behind Arnold Schwarzenagger yesterday

Posted by: I know who started this smear | November 7, 2008, 1:21 pm 1:21 pm

Unfortunately Sarah Palin does protest too much. She crucifies the media. She complains when things do not go well for her or she makes it a mistake. And she then blames the media. Couric interview was good example. Questions by Couric were fine, Palin just did not do well. Then she mentioned how mean media were to her at her rallies to get them mad at media. One newsman was actually attacked from behind by fan at rally for no reason. She has a unique ability to get the crowd going and to get them mad. But this hate and fear she entices is dangerous to anyone and everyone. Sarah Palin actually smiled and enjoyed crowd getting mad. She continued blasting media. FBI had to separate media camera men off from crowd for their protection and also to keep public from filming all the hate she caused. I managed to see clips of just a few that managed to get to people. Those people should be ashamed of how they acted with such hateful rage. Tactics like these are dangerous. Obama’s FBI security had to be increased due to more threats. Yet, Obama never complained.
So my decision after seeing and researching Sarah Palin just likes to complain when she is being attacked. Anyone who attacks her is the villian. She uses same tactics at home all the time. She thus protests too much!!!
This Republican is tired of hearing her complaints!!! She does not demonstrate the characteristics of a honorable American of high integrity.
If she were more astute to political campaign, she would just ignore. Attacking news is not good. I have heard lots of sexist complaints coming from her as well. One complaint would do. She needs to have tough skin. Barack Obama received lots of bad publicity during primaries. Sarah was new kids on block. New person to attack. And she helped keep news scrutiny up as she conducted hate mongering and racial prejudice campaign rallies. She lied alot also – muslim, terrorist, socialist, different than us, etc.
She is now facing a conflict of sides in Republican Party. Yes, she is on receiving end this time. Those that want to see her succeed and those who do not. This is not John McCain. Sarah is dealing with the different factions trying to gain control over the party for 2012.
Were there problems between John McCain and Sarah Palin?? Sure there were problems. I could see there would be at national convention. Sarah likes to be top dog. She likes to give the orders. She does not accept “no”. But what we all hear is the friendly side of Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin is a “wolf in sheeps clothing”. If she is going to be a viable candidate for 2012? She needs to learn alot about facts and foreign affairs. She criticized Barack Obama, when in fact she knew nothing. Anyone that was really evaluating closely, was objective, was intelligent saw her apparent weaknesses on issues. Sarah Palin was not ready for National Stage. She hired strategist to help her campaign for Vice President and she managed to get the offer. But the political bluff she presented was not caught until it was too late.
Sarah Palin would be smart to not say anything anymore. She was chosen, fault lies in those who selected her. Her expensive continued buying sprees should have been stopped immediately by her advisers. Of course she is difficult to deal with. She was in Alaska also. But she manages the “populist” message to keep high voter approval. Her hubby Todd is her big adviser. Ted Stevens, who was convicted recently, was too. They are close friends.

Posted by: Sharonklim | November 7, 2008, 1:28 pm 1:28 pm

Sarah Palin is an extremely dangerous radical right zealot with a “simpleton” image a la Bush. On top of that, she was convicted by a bipartisan committee of abuse of power. Moreover, when she does terrible facing the media, it’s never her fault — it’s always “the gotcha media,” “not asking the questions the american people want to hear,” etc. Rumors about McCain-Palin tensions only add to why we should be vigilant about her – she believes she is always right and ready, when she’s not.
If it truly was “country first” for her, she would’ve waited until 2012, to know more about foreign policy and politics.

I have to agree that the “Sarah’s incident” is really McCain’s fault. It is irresponsibility of him to select a running mate that he only had a meeting and a phone conversation.
Only when McCain’s campaign and the media has more time to get to know Sarah Palin, none of these nonsense would occur.
I think John McCain owns Sarah Palin an apology by putting her through this nonsense.

Sara Palin was a poor representation of hard working women in this country. If she is the best that the Republican Party can bring to the front they will never get back to the White House and if she was the best decision that John McCain could make, I am glad he lost.

What’s the big deal? Obama went to Hawaii on his party’s dime to get a fake suntan.

Posted by: Sofar | November 7, 2008, 2:43 pm 2:43 pm

9 weeks Sarah campaigned, and she did a great job….Obama was on the road and away from his desk in DC, for 2 yrs.!
I’ve also noticed, those that support Obama, are very rude & crude, and have bashed Gov Palin, from her shoes to her hair, in the most vile way.
Oh ye enlighted ones, and you too media, you have demeaned a good woman, all because some of you think you are better than she is, because you live in NY city or LA, or prance around D.C.
Everyone of you should be ashamed, even though I know being ashamed is a trait now missing from our society.

Posted by: Bobc | November 7, 2008, 2:44 pm 2:44 pm

Responds to bobc… I am a Obama supporter but I do not think that I have written anything negative about Sarah Palin. I think this is the danger of generalization.
Again let Sarah back to be the governor of Alaska.
Let’s united together to solve our country’s current problems.

Palin was a disaster which was averted by the occurrence of an even greater disaster in the economy.
The stresses of the presidency would have disabled McCain in short order. Judging by his theatrics in September, he would have had a blustering, apoplectic approach to problems.
The relentless succession of crises to come would have worn the old man down to the point that he would have to train Palin to govern. Then the fiasco would have begun in earnest.

Posted by: seemstome | November 7, 2008, 3:09 pm 3:09 pm

McCain-Palin lost and their supporters are taking it well. Contrast this with what the Obamaites promised if they lost, rioting, burning and looting at a minimum. This says a lot about the character of the two sides.

Posted by: Gosmin | November 7, 2008, 3:16 pm 3:16 pm

Strange how it was un-named sources that attacked her during the campaign and now it is un-named sources again. Seems like they all cowards and have a lot to hide. For that reason alone their testimony is garbage and they are cowards.

Obama couldn’t even pass a security check on the waterfront dock. Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama to be president. He didn’t even know how many states there were. His only qualification was as an organizer for the most corrupt organization there is.

Posted by: Gem_2 | November 7, 2008, 3:27 pm 3:27 pm

please accept the facts as they are, the whole country won with this election, around 66% turnout is excellent, the next step is to work together as one nation accepting that everyone is different and that not everybody thinks as we do, in other words, TOLERANCE. god bless america

I don’t think any of the Obama supporters that are posting here have read the article above. You all keep repeating the gossip that was just refuted. If you were there, or you’ve interviewed the people within the McCain campaign that made the allegations against Sarah Palin, and you can tell us with certainty that Meg Stapleton is wrong, then please continue with your bold statements. Otherwise shut up, or make a real argument based on the facts. I’m embarrassed for all you women out there who don’t think it would be great to have a woman with guts like Sarah Palin in a high office.

Posted by: MNPatriot | November 7, 2008, 4:15 pm 4:15 pm

MNPatriot, have you read today’s Washington Post article claiming that silk boxer shorts were purchased for Todd Palin? This seems at odds with Stapleton’s statement that Palin was simply presented with her wardrobe. Unless, as I said earlier, they expected Todd to drop his pants at the rallies.

One key point I haven’t seen addressed, is the Obama proxies in the media laid a scorched Earth mark in Alaska as they combed under every rock looking for smut on Sarah. Yet somehow, through all the millions spent looking for fodder, the Obama SA troupes were unable to find anything that remotely resembles the cowardly accusations set forth by nonames. I’m not very smart in these afairs, so perhaps one of you enlightened Obama groupies can explain this to me.

It doesn’t surprise me that McCain and/or his staff wants to dump on Sarah Palin and blame her and the conservative’s right after the election. Hero status aside, he was and always has been a middle of the road Rhino, a bitter old Reagan coat rider, and he has a huge rap sheet to show it. I am sure McCain is even now planning another liberal democrat bill that he can attach his name to as coauthor.
I voted for McCain, as a lesser evil, and I would have voted for McCain with or without Palin. After McCain brought his little token conservative woman on board I was even more for McCain/Palin and in truth I was more for Palin/McCain. This woman has more integrity than any politician around and liberal Washington and the media in general are scared to death of her.
Palin/? 2012

Posted by: Mike H | November 7, 2008, 5:02 pm 5:02 pm

Bobc, my sentiments exactly. Do we wonder why there are not more intelligent statesmen and women in Congress and in leadership positions or run for the presidency. They are almost destroyed by the media before they even have a chance to do anything. If you are a Democrat, you get a pass from the emedia (and the public) on all misbehaving and corruptions, (which still exists in WDC), etc., while the Republicans only have to “utter a word” and they are taken out of context or booted out of Congress by the Democrats or beat to death by the media. They’ll stop at nothing to destroy a Republican.
I respect John McCain very much, but I felt he did not want this presidency badly enough. It was Sarah Palin who sparked the campaign and brought the mini-faceted conservatives together, and it became exciting.
As stated previously, the clothes business and all the personal innuendos mentioned above was not even newsworthy. There is unbelievable stress when continually on the road day and night, and people get on each others’ nerves, even when they know each other and are like-minded, but when you do not know a person it can be a rough ride. (I like FOX News, but they should never have gone with this story.) The other networks may have picked it up, but who listens to them anyway? However, it is said that “pride goeth before destruction and haughtiness before a fall.” It is unfortunate that these “silent” complainers felt the need to ruin Gov. Palin’s reputation. She is not perfect, just like all of us, but as a Christian, let God deal with her. Jesus said to his disciples, “they hated me, so they will hate you.” I believe this is what all this is about. Her faith and life. Christianity has boundaries and liberalism has no boundaries. The liberals are scared to death that Christians will take over this government, and go back to the way things are “supposed to be” – “right is right” and “wrong is wrong”. “Liberty” also has boundaries and responsibility. We are so close to losing our liberty because of the liberals control and life in America is about out of control.
Many “Christians” are a major part of the reason Sen. Obama got elected. I could not vote for him because my Bible says such things as “abortion and alternative lifestyles”, other gods, are
unacceptable. I have no problems with having a black president but because of his liberalism and the things he reportedly believes concern me deeply, and if he does what he says he is going to do, we conservatives/Christians are in for a bumpy ride. If the 84% of this nation who claimed to be Christians voted like God’s Word commanded, this election would not be the same today. So we are as much blame in the outcome. Sarah Palin is not the blame, nor is John McCain.
I believe that when Pres-Elect Obama begins his duties, he will change his mind about alot of things. The enemy is rearing its ugly head in-wait. Praying people, you best begin now. Again, we’re in for a bumpy ride. He will need our prayers. He is now our Prsident.

Finding number one in the Branchflower report stated “…I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.”
Palin’s response:
“Well, I’m very very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing, any hint of any kind of unethical activity there. Very pleased to be cleared of any of that.”
This is a woman to be admired for her honesty and integrity??

ObamaBots will be very happy when they find out they voted for an inposter. Mr.B is not even a US Citizen. Some of the money you gave him will wind up going to his cousin in Kenya. In case you didn’t know his cousin is a radical Muslim named Odinga – the one that had his people burn churches & hack people to death. You don’t believe me. You morons have computers educate yourself. Thanks for turning over the country to a Socialist. The Weather Underground will love you.

The Obots are attempting to smear Sarah Palin early because they know she will be a viable contender come 2012. Barry Obama will be easy to beat after the 4 years of ineptness he’ll subject the US to.

My God! When you actually listen to this woman talk it is mind boggling.
To think that she could have become president is terrifying. The media is bad, Sarah good, media lies, Sarah true.
The media refuses to set the record straight and this is what she knows that she knows she knows?

Posted by: seemstome | November 7, 2008, 6:47 pm 6:47 pm

Some of these comments are truly over the top. Sarah Palin is neither stupid, nor ignorant. She happens to be a real person with smarts and compassion who has been denigrated by the liberal media, by you intellectually dishonest people and by her own Republican Party hacks. The vast majority of the comments that you are repeating about her are untrue. Some of you guys have real gutter mouths and sick minds, especially when you make fun of an innocent child with Down Syndrome. Your words will come back to haunt you big time!

Alaska equals no debt equals Palin
NJ equals gross debt equals Corizinne
Obama is actually considering Corizinne for a position?
Who should go to Washington? Who should Obama be looking at to right the wrongs which he preached about for almost a year? It is never about what they SAY but about “THE RECORD” and who they surround themselves with and what they actually accomplish. Lets see where we are in 1 year.

Rudy,
Your points can be easily defeated – just google it. Democrats money and propaganda machine made blacks to vote for Al Gore. Democrats made no such efforts this time around. The black vote was given for free. Sorry.
“On November 7, 2000, over 10.2 million blacks voter went to the polls in the first presidential contest of the new millennium. One (1) million more blacks cast ballots in 2000 than in 1996, as black voter participation rates jumped from 49% in 96, to 51% of all registered black voters in 2000. The NAACP launched an unprecedented $10 million voter education and registration project, and additional millions were pumped into black communities by Democrats and unions in “get out the vote” operations. Exceeding all expectations, Al Gore garnered 90% of the Black vote, more than Clinton in 92 and 96.”
NAACP – The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a civil rights organization for ethnic minorities in the united States (a racist socialist organization).

The young people who voted for Obama:
you’ll get what you deserve. Expect to be paid for your duties with a draft … hahahahaha just like I predicted. It hasn’t been even a few days but your cult leader Hussein is already planning a draft for you. Enjoy the benefits of Socialism:
“Obama’s chief of staff choice favors compulsory universal service.
Rep. Rahm Emanuel wants to force people 18 to 25 to labor for the government.
Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, President-Elect Barack Obama’s choice for chief of staff in his incoming administration, is co-author of a book, The Plan: Big Ideas for America, that calls for, among other things, compulsory service for all Americans ages 18 to 25. The following excerpt is from pages 61-62 of the 2006 book:
It’s time for a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us. We propose universal civilian service for every young American. Under this plan, All Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five will be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic training, civil defense preparation and community service. …
Here’s how it would work. Young people will know that between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five, the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service. They’ll be asked to report for three months of basic civil defense training in their state or community, where they will learn what to do in the event of biochemical, nuclear or conventional attack; how to assist others in an evacuation; how to respond when a levee breaks or we’re hit by a natural disaster. These young people will be available to address their communities’ most pressing needs.
Emanuel and co-author Bruce Reed insist “this is not a draft,” but go on to write of young men and women, “the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service.” They also warn, “[s]ome Republicans will squeal about individual freedom,” ruling out any likelihood that they would let people opt out of universal citizen service.
As chief of staff, Emanuel will not be in a position to directly introduce public policy, but his enthusiasm for compulsory service, combined with Barack Obama’s own plan to require high school students to perform 50 hours of government-approved service, suggest an unfortunate direction for the new administration.”

Joe wrote, “The American Blacks are true racists. 90% of them voted for a black president… only because he is the same color.”
John Kerry got 88% of the black vote in 2004. He’s a white man.
Al Gore got 92% in 2000. He’s a white man.
Bill Clinton got 83% in 1992 and 84% in 1996. He’s a white man.
Michael Dukakis got 89% in 1988. He’s a white man.
Walter Mondale got 91% in 1992. He’s a white man.
Jimmy Carter got 82% in 1976 and 1980. He’s a white man.

I don’t care about Palin’s wardrobe.
I just want my foodstamps to come by the 1st. of Feb. Obama, you promised us foodstamps for our vote.
Where is my stimulas check?
Where is my mortgage payment? I need it now, as it is due.
My car is out of gas, where is the check for the gas?
We voted for you, so you could send us these things, but I have not got one check, so far.

When Jessie Jackson first ran for president, he got 77% of the black vote. 95% of white votes went to a white candidate.
Using Joe’s logic, American whites were true racists.

Lets smear Palin that keeps everyone from seeing the real problems.
It is easier to spread rumors then to use your brain.

I don’t care about the clothes and I have to think that Palin does know Africa is a continent. But she still presented herself as an empty vessel with no originality of thought.
Maybe there is more under that public presentation, but what’s most troubling is how a part of one of our major parties seemed to prefer that presentation – they seem to want an empty vessel. For that, and for the possibility this part of the GOP could at some point in the future again take over American politics, we all ought to be a little concerned.

Seems to me the Obama camp is continuing to do exactly what it did so masterfully through this election season. They tried to stake claim to the high ground and stay above the fray yet had their minions deluging everything behind the scenes with fabrications, inuendo and lies. Remember how the Obama camp was the FIRST to throw down the race card and then tried to play it every single time an issue about Mr Obama was brought up. The MSM bought it hook, line and sinker. They largely refused to question anything about Obama, probably to avoid the racist tag. Then the day after the election, all of a sudden Tom Brokaw and others hasd a stroke of genius and started asking the question Who is Barack Obama? A little late there folks. THe point being, the Obama camp is terrified of a run by Palin in 2012 and will continue hammering away at her over the next four years. The smart thing for Palin to do is sit back and let them create their own failure. They will get viusious enough over the next couple years that it will really open the eyes of a lot of people at just how sexist the democratic party is. She can take all of these attacks, gather the irrefutable evidence to quash the attacks and file it away. When she announces her bid to run, launch her very own website denouncing and refuting every single attack that has been leveled against her. Then play by the Obama play book. Tell every9one that they must notice she is different from other presidential candidates, you don’t see women on our currendcy, they will try to discredit her by sexist attacks. That will set the stage, much as Obama did, for everyone to walk on egg shells when dealing with her as they will be afraid of being labeled sexist.

When the attacks are at her she becomes very worried about truth and context. Something she didn’t fret about when she was dishing them out.

I can’t believe the vitriolic rhetoric STILL being spouted by the extreme right. They truly do not grasp the idea that it is their open hatred, bigotry, and complete lack of respect for other’s ideals and morals that has destroyed the Republican party.
McCain lost because he chose an extreme “right winger” as a running mate, pandered to the conservatives, and forgot that it is the swing votes in the middle that really win elections.
Pandering to “the conservative base” lost Republicans control of congress two years ago and the presidency this year. Now this narrow minded minority thinks that if the RNC swings even farther right it will help??

After months of following the primaries & the elections I am going to sign off & write a book (not on the elections), but a last comment before I leave – from what I have seen and read over these many months I would have thought that anyone not being able to quote titles of magazines and newspapers should immediately be recognised as someone of great discernment and probably of a superior intellect.
