Illinois Press: No To Burris
While the news today all suggests that Roland Burris will ultimately be seated in the U.S. Senate, elements of the Illinois establishment press is vigorously against seating Burris. The gist of their argument has nothing to do with the Blagojevich mess — more with the fact that they consider Burris a failed state politician, desperate for one last turn in the spotlight. Says one paper: "He’s proud and pigheaded and wants this one last star on his chest so badly…" More here…

If we can have the spouses of deceased office holders take over their terms, we can have Burris, okay… Enough already! Bring the troops home and rescind the bailouts… THEN you will have done something meaningful!!! Jeez!

Burris would NOT be the worst Senator in the senate.
Seat him already.

“Burris would NOT be the worst Senator in the senate.” – Amoreena
So true.
Is it really possible the Senate will follow the rule of law and seat the man?
Only in America.

One must admit that this is an unusual situation that Blago has created.
The Senate is afraid to seat the man because that (in their mind) might reflect somehow on Obama.
Obama’s people who work with him must have known that Blago was bad news: Blago was angry because Obama’s people only would give him their ‘appreciation’. That in itself tells me that something other than ‘appreciation’ was asked for by Blago to Obama’s people (more than likely).
Obama should have turned Blago in at that time when they first found out that Blago was crooked.
They didn’t.
And – that is why the Democratic senate is having a fit at this time. They don’t know which way to turn now.
If they seat Burris, then Obama’s name might come up with this fiasco somehow.
If they don’t seat Burris, Obama’s name will still be associated with Blago, but will be at a lesser degree. However, Burris appears to be a vindictive man. He might try to bring people down with him at any cost.
That’s their fear and that’s their
‘Lady or the Tiger’ dilemma.

One thing I give credit to Blago for is that he threw the democratic senate yahoos a knuckleball. Guess what? Reid and company swung and missed!!!
