Morning Meeting: Obama’s Call For Action (i.e. Billion$$$), Gaza Spillover, Snow Melt Run Wild, & Ash Spill Controversy
Charlie Gibson is in Washington today — on the day when Obama formally becomes the President-elect, and then makes his big case for hundreds of billions of dollars in stimulus money. The latter is the lynchpin of Mr. Obama’s economic plans — and it is the subject of heated debate, nearly two weeks before inauguration day. In the Middle East, the Gaza conflict has spilled northward, at least briefly, with the firing of rockets from south Lebanon into Northern Israel. The Israelis have allowed another three-hour break, for humanitarian aid to get through, and some of the relief workers have found humanitarian horrors in the warrens of Gaza. Meanwhile, far, far from the Middle East, mountains of snow are melting in the Pacific Northwest. And mountains of toxic coal ash are the subject of hearings on Capitol Hill today.
