The Closing Minutes of the Bush Administration
ABC’s Ann Compton reports from Washington: It appears that President Bush has left the Oval Office and returned to the residence. President Bush will dine tonight one last time in the White House. I am told it will be the President and Laura Bush, twins Jenna and Barbara, and former President and Barbara Bush. They will spend one last night here. Outside the Oval Office, eleven large color photographs still adorn the stairway, shots of President and Mrs Bush and Barney at work and play. These will disappear any time now. The President’s lead Secret Service agent Don White had been with President-elect Obama yesterday at the concert and today, managing to get in the way of the camera shots during the community service events. But White will indeed accompany President Bush to the Capitol Hill tomorrow and then shift to President Obama at the oath-taking.

Bush was an honorable man who did his best. Anyone who thinks he did not have the American peoples best interest in heart is ignorant too. I think is is an outrage Obama is spending 150 million on the inauguration, considering his mantra, CHANGE. Just like every other Democrat….TAX and SPEND. Thank God the honeymoon is almost over. I can hear them jumping off the Obama bandwagon already!

Good riddance. To Bush, and his flock of the Irresponsible Age.

I am with you Darry. I have never really felt unsafe despite 911 but I am quite sure that Bush had our backs. Not only have we not been attacked here but look at the drop of random attacks against us that use to occur frequently overseas. I am somewhat satisfied that an investigation into what happened to cause this financial colapse will occur and undoubtedly a lot of the blame will go to house and senate members( the guys that really spend the money) and if so there will be memebrs on both sides with red faces and I hope- striped suits to wear in jail.
As far as Bush’s last night, I imagine it will be sad but then again have you ever visited someone who had these yippie yappie dogs that never shut up….

Why oh why aren’t Dems just happy that Obama is in now? They should be celebrating, enjoying the moment but still can’t get over Bush. Move on and try to be as gracious as Bush has been to Obama during the transition. I’m sure Bush’s staff won’t trash the White House, remove letters from keyboards and act like little babies like the Clinton staff did.

David, your comment that “..we’ve not been attacked here..” is FALSE. Actually, there were three terrorist attacks after 9/11. (1)Remember the anthrax deaths;(2) A fatal shooting at the El Al counter at LAX; and (3) A fatal shooting at a Jewish center in Seattle. Finally, it is well documented that Al Qaeda cancelled at least one poison gas attack in NYC after 9/11. You are free to have your own ideology. You are not free to make up your facts.

bear, you know what I am talking about. The anthrax was more than likely some weirdo with no life, the counter shooting was about the same as the two Kooks driving around dc plucking people off after 911. I am talking about mass terror like an embassy bombing, ships blown up etc. If the two you cite were “terrorist attacks” we would be under attack 1600 times a year with the murders commited here on an annual basis.
But while we are on the subject, if you were alive in the 70′s , 80′s and 90′s time frame and you know a bit of history then you’ll see that we as Americans were targets quite frequently abroad, we did nothing about it until it hit us on a large scale. Nothing political here…dude.

I am PROUD of President Bush. He is a great man and deserves our thanks and love. He was given a tremendous task to overcome, he did and HE safeguarded our Country. I want only the best for him and also for President Obama.

The only World leader that fell from a 90% approval rate to a 22% approval rate, within eight years,in recent history was Adolf Hitler. We can only hope that the 22% of Americans who still approve of Bush do no more harm to the World than the 22% of Germans who approved of Hitler at the end of World War two.

I am very glad that we have a new president in office but I have to say that number one my understanding growing up in the united states that if you were half african american and half white you were considered to be bi-Racial why do we consider than Barack Obama to be African American I thought he was half white? Also it disappoints me as a mother that you could acknowledge your father but could not acknowledge your mother the person who put you here on this earth to make it possible for you to be where you are today.

Barack Obama doesn’t refer to himself as biracial for the same reason you never hear authorities say “Be on the lookout for two purse snatchers. One is a 6 foot, 180 lb Biracial and his accomplice is a 5 foot 8 inch, 150 lb Triracial. The victim was a 70-year-old Quad.”
Barack Obama is not half African-American; he is half African. His father was born in Africa. Thus, Obama is African-American because he is an American with African ancestors. He is also considered black because of his skin pigmentation. He had a Caucasian mother who I’m sure understood why her son chose to refer to himself as black/African-American.
This is an historic moment for America; stop trying to detract from that fact.
