Closing Arguments: Torpedoed by Taxes

Earlier today, Tom Daschle formally withdrew his name from consideration to head the Department of Health and Human Services for the Obama administration after it was revealed that he had failed to pay $140,000 in taxes. President Obama called it an embarassing day in which his appointee for first chief White House performance officer — Nancy Killefer — also pulled out due to tax issues. New Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner survived a grilling by senators during his confirmation over unpaid taxes of his own. So tonight we ask you: Are the tax problems for Obama’s nominees undermining Obama’s call for higher ethical standards and his administration’s ability to govern? Tell us what you think.
