The news today that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent surgery for cancer was a shock. Doctors discovered a tumor inside her pancreas. Ginsburg battled cancer a decade ago and was believed to be cancer free. Cancer of the pancreas is one of the deadliest forms. But there is a blessing. Doctors discovered the tumor early and with surgery her chances are greatly improved. One doctor speaking to us today said, "it does sound like a good outcome". Ginsburg will spend several days recovering. She very well may be back at work soon. But without question today the subject of Supreme Court appointments was raised. When putting forward a nominee President Bush faced a Senate controlled by the Democrats. President Obama does not have the obstacle. One other point. 5 of the 9 Justices are 70 years or older.
