The Morning Meeting: Obama To Russia…Obama To China…Obama To Buckingham Palace…London Protests Get Nasty…Gibson & Geithner…700,000 Jobs Lost?…Ted Stevens Cleared?
Quite a day in London today. A breakthrough in U.S.-Russian relations; plans for President Obama to visit both Russia and China later this year; the Obama Administration continues its push for more stimulus spending by European nations; protestors smash windows and barge into the offices of the Royal Bank of Scotland; Charlie Gibson sits down in a couple of hours with Treasury Secretary Geithner; and Barack and Michelle Obama meet the Queen of England.
Other news this morning: a preview of the March jobs report (due out Friday) shows that more than 700,000 people may have lost their jobs last month; auto sales for March will be out shortly — as GM begins its march down the road to non-bankruptcy (maybe); pending home sales rise slightly; cybercrime specialists watch for an April 1 attack by the dreaded "Conflicker" virus; Israel’s new foreign minister says concessions to the Palestinians will only invite war; the southeastern U.S. gets battered by a half-foot of rain; and the corruption case against Alaska Senator Ted Stevens — after a conviction on seven felony counts last year — looks to be falling apart.
And — there’s this: America’s longest-running sitcom — The Simpsons — is to be honored with a series of 44-cent stamps. A sneak peak next week.
Stay tuned…

“Israel’s new foreign minister says concessions to the Palestinians will only invite war;”
Actually keeping them caged between checkpoints, expanding settlements, and cutting off vital food, water, and fuel actually invites war.

These public sessions are simply PR. Window dressing – things that were pre-negotiated to give all participants a good image back home. The purpose of the meeting is finance and the G20 are in wild disagreement into almost every aspect of the participants.
Everyone will go home claiming victory and the sheep will continue to say “What a guy”!
