Obama Gets Laughs Jabbing Bloomberg, Geithner, Boehner
Keeping with tradition, President Obama got a chance to try his hand at stand-up at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner Saturday night. Here is an excerpt: "All in all, we’re proud of the change we’ve brought to Washington in these first hundred days but we’ve got a lot of work left to do, as all of you know. So I’d like to talk a little bit about what my administration plans to achieve in the next hundred days. During the second hundred days, we will design, build and open a library dedicated to my first hundred days. (Laughter.) It’s going to be big, folks. (Laughter.) In the next hundred days, I will learn to go off the prompter and Joe Biden will learn to stay on the prompter. (Laughter.) In the next hundred days, our bipartisan outreach will be so successful that even John Boehner will consider becoming a Democrat. After all, we have a lot in common. He is a person of color. (Laughter.) Although not a color that appears in the natural world. (Laughter.) What’s up, John? (Laughter.) In the next hundred days, I will meet with a leader who rules over millions with an iron fist, who owns the airwaves and uses his power to crush all who would challenge his authority at the ballot box. It’s good to see you, Mayor Bloomberg. (Laughter.) In the next hundred days, we will housetrain our dog, Bo, because the last thing Tim Geithner needs is someone else treating him like a fire hydrant. (Laughter.) In the next hundred days, I will strongly consider losing my cool. (Laughter.) Finally, I believe that my next hundred days will be so successful I will be able to complete them in 72 days. (Laughter.) And on the 73rd day, I will rest." (Laughter.)

Though Obama did a great job. With not leaving any one out his jokes. If you did not think he was funny. You have too
be brain dead or a consevative. Which
is one in the same. Most ever one right or left thought he did a good job.
Picked on all sides equally. You are out there by self. Guess you must be
there most of the time.

Here we are at the brink of nuclear in Packistan, and our President is doing stand-up comedy at a Washington roast.
What kind of message is that to send to the world… George E. Buttner

Profiles of a Nation: A letter to washington: Your not funny!
Dear Mr. President,
Let me give you an idea of the rhetoric that built this nation. “By the teaching of our national history; by our faith and hope of religion; by every line of the Declaration of Independence, and by every article of the Constitution, by what we are (The Bill of Rights) and what our progenitors were–we have a right to walk foremost in this procession of nations toward a bright and better future.” -Henry Ward Beecher.
Does not the politician in Washington study our national history? This thing we call freedom is not a joke! Alternatively, is it, you just don’t get it! America does not bow to the world and its potentates either. And neither should its leaders. Where are your allegiance? We need real Americans in Washington. We the people should now set term limits on those elected to office while we still can. Washington was not meant to be a career in politics, it was meant to serve the nation and its people.
I say to those who now hold elected office, “Stand up for America, hold your head high – enforce our laws – secure our borders and protect our sovereignty. Or get the Hell out of town.”
That was the burden of the appeals of our Revolutionary leaders; appeals like John Adams, to weigh (toil, blood and treasure) light against the duty of kindling the torch of freedom in the world. Liberty, whom he pictured not as a fair young goddess, but as a battle scarred, sword begirt warrior, who never relaxes his iron muscles: For our enemy never sleeps, and we must watch and combat until the day we die” -John Adams. The American people will not stand for less, and Washington had better get with it, before the second shot is heard around the world…

To bad your network did not report on foul statements by Skpes. Maybe when advertisers pull their ads for not producing, you people will learn what pays the bills, not Wastington.

I think President Obama made a nuanced religious joke about the number 72 which has been associated with the number of virgins people may get as the smallest reward in Heaven, according to interpretations by Islamic critics.
If you think the concept of 72 virgins is not that well known or has not been in the news that much (especially after 9/11), then search “72 virgins” with quotes in:
-MSN and you will get over 30,000,000 results.
-Yahoo and you will get close to 900,000 results.
-Google and you will get close to 200,000 results
-AOL and you will get close to 30,000 results
-Ask and you will get close to 30,000 results
There has even been books, songs and movies written with 72 virgins in the actual title in recent years. The show Family Guy even had a skit on it.
For those who may not know, President Obama’s religious reference in his joke was “and on the 73rd day I will rest” which refers to God resting on the 7th day of creation, according to the Book of Genesis.
Is he going to claim that he randomly picked 72, which was followed by a religious reference??

I watched the coverage of the White House Correspondents Dinner and agree that President Obama isn’t much of a comedian, but he tried. He is a great orator and I am interested in what he has to say, especially concerning the state of the nation. I don’t think he should be judged too harshly for his humor because previous presidents, in the past, used the same event to get a few laughs in at others.
