Obama’s Surprise Press Room Visit — What Next For the Court?

President Obama just made a surprise visit to the White House briefing room, interrupting his own press secretary’s q and a to make a brief statement about Justice Souter’s retirement.  Analysis to come from our White House reporter Jake Tapper, but the headline is the President said he’ll put ideology aside, consult with both parties and move quickly to find a nominee.  He’d like to have someone new in place by the first Monday in October.
