What Does Iran Want?

Now  that the US has confirmed that Iran successfully launched a missile with a range of  1,200-1,900 miles, and a configuration that appears consistent with its Ashura model, the question on the minds of many Americans, and western policy makers, is what exactly does Iran want?  In an analysis piece in Foreign Policy, Francesco Bastagli writes that in order to understand Iran’s expectations, just turn the Western perspective around 180 degrees. Bastagli argues that that while President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s domestic economic and social policies have alienated many, his foreign policy – including the country’s nuclear program – enjoys wide support on the streets of Iran. –Troy McMullen
