ABC's Matt Jaffe from Washington:

$93 million dollars.

That’s what one soccer player is apparently worth, even during the ongoing global recession.

Soccer giant Real Madrid is reportedly set to spend that record sum of money on Brazilian superstar Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, known simply as Kaka.  Today’s headline of Spanish daily paper As blares “Kaka, signed!”.

If the deal goes through, Kaka, an attacking midfielder, would move to the Spanish capital from Italy’s AC Milan.

Spain, meanwhile, currently has the highest unemployment rate in Europe, coming in at over 18 percent in April, up 10 percent from a year ago.

No prize for knowing what “kaka” means in Spanish.
