Governor Sanford Admits to Relations with More Women

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has given an interview with the Associated Press.  In it he discusses his relations with other women…not his wife, not his mistress.  Here is the AP:  "South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford says he "crossed lines" with a handful of women other than his mistress — but never had sex with them.  The governor says he "never crossed the ultimate line" with anyone but Maria Belen Chapur, the Argentine at the center of a scandal that has derailed Sanford's once-promising political career." The Governor has returned to work and is attempting to continue on in office until his term ends.  These revelations will most certainly make his uphill climb steeper.  This whole episode began unraveling when the governor seemingly disappeared for several days.  His office said he was hiking.  It turned out he was visiting a mistress in Argentina.

As if we couldn’t see that coming a mile away.
“Family values. Protecting marriage. Stengthening families. Strong morals.” Mark Stanford (and Sen. Ensign, and Sen. Craig, Sen. Vitter).
“Don’t do as I do, do as I say.”

He’s a true “Playa”! He’ll lose his job, wife, family and half his assets, but he’s a true “Playa”!

“never crossed the ultimate line”? What exactly is that supposed to mean? He rounded third base a few times but always slid wide of home plate? Is that supposed to make us feel like he really was a good husband all those years because he knew which lines were okay to cross? Sorry, but I’ve heard enough confessions from this clown. He needs to either shut-up or move on (preferably both).

Bush 1 may have coined the term “family values”, but Clinton ran away with it. I can’t stand when people use the term to mock Republicans only.

Mark Sanford’s claim to be like King David is laughable And insane. Only if you know your Bible will you realize that “King” Mark has no regret for what he did. He chose evil over good. I wonder if the good Christians of South Carolina really understand just how much wool “King” Mark is trying to pull over their eyes.
I don’t defend President Clinton or his actions at all twelve years ago, but what “King” Mark did outdoes the crimes of Clinton doublefold. And makes “King” Mark a huge hypocrite when he was standing slamming Clinton and calling for his resignation.
Sneaking to a tryst of a lover without a single person knowing, when you are the highest official of the state, is at the very least utterly disgraceful.
South Carolina, shake off this evil now. Remember what Jesus said about knowing people by their actions. Actions speak much louder than any word.

Why did the Governor talk to AP? He’s paving the way for his next job.
He told reporters that he counseled Ms. Chapur on her failing marriage.
Look out Dr. Phil!

Of course, Gov. Sanford, is a fool.
We all agree with that.
Fools come in all shapes, sizes, and political parties.

With all due respect, would somebody tell Sarah Palin, Mark Sanford, and Kate Gosselin to just shut-up-at least for the rest of the summer!

I’m neither democrat nor republican, both parties share the blame in the condition of this country at the moment. Also no neither party has a monopoly on scandal. Sure, Sanford is a total disgrace, to his family, to his state, and to his party. Have democrats forgotten John Edwards? Or Ted Kennedy, letting that girl drown while trying to save his own skin and “reputation”.

Sanford was always talking about how the gays are destroying families. Do you think he did this because he is a closet gay?

what is bad is he is a hypercrite. do as I say, not as I do. he is as bad as Clinton. I would hope those who supported Clinton ,would support him as well.

See, the reason why the purported parallels between the marital infidelities of Dems and Reps don’t stand up is that there are a great many Dem voters who couldn’t care less what their representatives do in their private lives, and there are not so many like-minded Rep voters.
Sure, Clinton may have talked about family values, but were there any voters on the margin who were persuaded to go for Clinton — as opposed to Bush or Dole — because of that talk? I doubt it. Cheating on his wife was certainly among the least terrible things that Clinton did (nobody died as a result, unlike e.g. the air strikes he ordered in Bosnia).
(This is the same reason why it “works” to criticize Gore about his house, emissions, etc. because his constituency purports to care about the environment. Repub voters don’t.)

nc, you’re right — it’s NOT fair to attack only Republicans, since the Democrats have their, um, “fair share” of the fallen-by-the-moral-wayside, going all the way back decades to (for example) Ted Kennedy in his younger, friskier days. Of course, there are three current problems for the Republicans: (1.) they’ve sort of been cornering the market on this sort of behavior, a fact aggravated by the further fact that Sanford has previously been one of the most holier-than-thou politicians around, and, (2.) the attack dog section of the right-wing media sure shut up in a heartbeat — when this stuff involves a Republican, and (3.) unlike the Republican Party of recent years, the Democrats have not laid claim to be a party of “family values” and so on. And those don’t even approach another image problem the Republicans have, i.e., “the Party of No.” And I voted mostly (but not entirely) Republican last election!
