Missing Governor Found Hiking Trail (That Will Get Stimulus $$$ He Opposed)

The Governor has returned his messages.  In case you missed the story yesterday, South Carolina's Governor Mark Sanford has been out of the office since last Thursday.  No big deal.  Only, it turned out his wife and the Lt. Governor didn't have a good handle on where he was, and his office wasn't saying.  Today, the governor's office said Sanford was hiking along the Appalachian Trail and would be heading home tomorrow.

Governor Sanford made headlines recently in his opposition to the Obama administration's stimulus package to the states.  Sanford was weary of future financial commitments that came with accepting the federal dollars for his state.

Huffington Post reports this morning that the trail the governor is hiking along is actually one of the beneficiaries of the stimulus funding.  The Appalachian Trail will receive $650 thousand for a spruce up.

Have you ever seen what nature does to a trail on its own? Besides this administration knows better than everyone else. They’ll make better decisions for the trail in Washington than the people of South Carolina ever could. DUH!

jhr, the trail doesn’t go through South Carolina. Sorry.
For another thing, why was Sanford making phones calls from Atanta, 82 miles south of the beginning of the trail? I am with the lady who says affair. Time will tell.

Sanford was flying out of Atlanta to fly to the northern part of the appalachian trail.
Atlanta Hartsfield airport is a major airport and has far more options to fly to than charleston.
It wouldn’t make sense to drive to the appalachian trail because the trail doesn’t go in a circle and why hike back on the same route.
Sanford has gone hiking many times before.
You can find articles from years ago where sanford talks about how he goes hiking at the end of legislature sessions.
It had nothing to do with father’s day he goes hiking at the end of legislature sessions.
Sanford is a good father all the time not some father who does something on father’s day.
Sanford is an outdoor ethusiast and has taken his family on many across state bike rides.
But the liberal media makes a big deal out of this even though sanford checked in during his trip.
